Abstract:Axon growth elicits tension of the axon shaft. Sousa et al. develop a computer-controlled, live-imaging-compatible platform to study axon stretch. In embryonic DRG neurons, microtubules decrease polymerization and undergo repair and stabilization, while PPV secretion and membrane formation occur. In contrast, adult DRGs show less robust adaptation.
