Abstract:We report the synthesis of a Na-ion-conducting ionogel (IG) electrolyte using a one-pot, siloxane-modified sol–gel approach. The resulting pseudosolid electrolyte provides a nonflammable alternative to traditional carbonate liquids and demonstrates a wide stability window (5 V) as well as a high room-temperature ionic conductivity (∼1 mS cm–1). The IG exhibits excellent interfacial properties in contact with both negative and positive Na+ electrodes, enabling the operation of a solid-state sodium-ion battery. The Supporting Information is available free of charge at <a class="ext-link" href="/doi/10.1021/acsaem.0c02055?goto=supporting-info">https://pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/acsaem.0c02055</a>.Photograph of the IG electrolyte, comparison of mechanical properties of gel electrolytes, SEM, TEM, nitrogen porosimetry, and XPS of the IG|NVP cathode interface (<a class="ext-link" href="/doi/suppl/10.1021/acsaem.0c02055/suppl_file/ae0c02055_si_001.pdf">PDF</a>)Ionogel flammability test (<a class="ext-link" href="/doi/suppl/10.1021/acsaem.0c02055/suppl_file/ae0c02055_si_002.mov">MOV</a>)This article has not yet been cited by other publications.
