Study on Preservation Technology of Cut Roses

Abstract:[Objective]The purpose was to research the preservation technology of cut roses.[Method]With preservation solution of 3 kinds of inorganic salt as treatment on the red series 'Karhong' of cut roses,the characteristics of flower diameter,appearance quality,fresh weight changes and vase life were measured. [Result]Compared with the sole use of 8-HQC+2%sucrose or distilled water,the preservative of the 200 mg/L 8-HQC+2%sucrose combined with 3 kinds of inorganic could improve the comprehensive quality such as petal status,flower color and flowering progression,and could also enlarge flower diameter,along with the elongation of vase life to 2-4 d.In the 3 preservatives of different inorganic salt,the best one is 0.2 mol/L CoCl2.[Conclusion]The treatment of 200 mg/L 8HQC+2%sucrose+0.2 mol/L CoCl2 presented better preservation effect,and it could be used as the preservative of cut roses.
