Abstract:Acute ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI), the most prevalent cardiovascular disease, is an acute thrombotic event occurring on the basis of coronary artery ischemia, causing acute myocardial ischemic necrosis with acute chest pain as the main typical manifestation, and with the risk of combined malignant arrhythmia, cardiogenic shock, and sudden death, which is characterized by acute onset, high morbidity and mortality, and poor prognosis. [ 1–3 ] Myocardial cell necrosis occurs within 18 minutes of the onset of STEMI, whereas coronary occlusion for more than 3 hours results in an increased area of myocardial necrosis, and >6 hours may result in transmural myocardial infarction. [ 4–6 ] Therefore, the earlier the occluded coronary artery is opened in the golden time, the more myocardium can be saved. If emergency coronary intervention can be performed within 12 hours of onset, the survival rate can be significantly improved and the incidence of adverse cardiovascular events can be reduced. [ 7 ]
