Abstract:Research Objectives To investigate differentiation of Robotic-assisted contralateral leg interlimb coordinated gait training (RLT) and contemporary robotic-assisted gait training, we compared the kinematics, neuromuscular activity, and ground reaction force (GRF) in asymptomatic adults. Design The study design is the single group, pre- and post-test and three conditions. Setting The experimental setting is the Yonsei University in Wonju, Republic of Korea. (Laboratory of sports movement artificial-intelligence robotics technology (SMART)). Participants A sample of 11 healthy adults (age 25.27 ± 1.95 years; 5 females and 6 males) were recruited from a major university community. Interventions The participants underwent treadmill-based gait training, lower limb robotic gait training, and arm swing robot (arm-leg interlimb coordinated gait training). Main Outcome Measures Main outcome measures is kinematic data (shoulder, hip, knee, trunk, and pelvis angle). Results Trunk counterrotation and shoulder, hip, and knee kinematic angular displacements were compatible between arm swing robot and treadmill-based gait training (5–10%) but different between treadmill-based gait training or arm swing robot and lower limb robotic gait training (30–40%). Conclusions In conclusion, the present study provides invaluable scientific and clinical insights, which will open new horizons for advancing robotic science and technology and clinical translation medicine. We demonstrated an intrinsic neuromuscular control mechanism to demonstrate the interactive role of the cervical and lumbar CPGs in the process of interlimb locomotor coordination induced by arm swing robot.
