Abstract:When applying for orthopaedic surgery residency, applicants rely on program websites to obtain information about the program and educational opportunities. 1–3 In 2021, Yong et al 4 found that 96% of surveyed orthopaedic surgery residency applicants reported using program websites during the application process. Despite their importance as a source of information, applicants continue to rate the information obtained from residency program websites as substantially less useful than information obtained through conversations with residents or program faculty. In 2005, Gaeta et al 5 surveyed applicants to determine which details on emergency medicine residency program websites were most important to applicants. Forty-one percent of the respondents reported that the quality of the program websites had a direct influence on their decision-making process regarding where to apply. These studies support the importance of residency program websites to applicants in deciding where to apply and interview.
