Abstract:The provision of feedback letters to parents about their child’s weight status following measurement for the NCMP has been recommended by the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) since 2008, with the aim of engaging the families of overweight children and supporting them to make healthy behaviour changes. This study aimed to assess the impact of NCMP feedback on parental recognition of childhood overweight, perceptions of the health risks associated with their child’s overweight status, and lifestyle behaviours and health service use. A longitudinal study was conducted of 1844 parents of children aged 4–5 and 10–11 years who received weight feedback as part of the 2010–11 NCMP in five PCTs in England.
