Abstract:Background Microbiomes are essential components of the human body, and their populations are substantial. Under normal circumstances, microbiomes coexist harmoniously with the human body, but disturbances in this equilibrium can lead to various diseases. The oral microbiome is involved in the occurrence and development of many oral and gastrointestinal diseases. This review focuses on the relationship between oral microbiomes and oral and upper gastrointestinal diseases, and therapeutic strategies aiming to provide valuable insights for clinical prevention and treatment.

What problem does this paper attempt to address?
The problem that this paper attempts to solve is to explore the relationship between the oral microbiome and oral and upper digestive tract diseases, and to propose treatment strategies based on the oral microbiome, in order to provide valuable insights for clinical prevention and treatment. Specifically, the paper focuses on the following aspects: 1. **Relationship between the oral microbiome and health**: Under normal circumstances, oral microorganisms coexist harmoniously with the human body, but once this balance is broken, it may lead to a variety of diseases. The paper explores the potential impact of the imbalance of the oral microbial community on human health. 2. **Relationship between the oral microbiome and specific diseases**: The paper analyzes in detail the associations between the oral microbiome and periodontitis, dental caries, reflux esophagitis, gastritis, and upper digestive tract tumors (especially malignant tumors). The occurrence and development of these diseases may be related to the changes in the oral microbiome. 3. **Collection and analysis of oral samples**: The paper points out that oral samples such as saliva and buccal mucosa are easy to collect and have high sample stability, so they can be used as an effective preliminary screening method for high - risk populations before endoscopic examination. 4. **Treatment strategies based on the oral microbiome**: The paper discusses early diagnosis and treatment methods based on the oral microbiome, aiming to promote the early detection and management of these diseases by regulating the oral microbiome. In conclusion, this paper aims to provide new ideas and methods for clinical practice through in - depth research on the relationship between the oral microbiome and oral and upper digestive tract diseases.
