Abstract:In this paper, we derived that a sufficiently large integer $ N $ can always be represented as the sum of three generalized D. H. Lehmer numbers. As a consequence, we deduced Lu and Yi's original result ( Monatsh. Math. , 159 (2010), 45–58).

Abstract:Let n ≥ 2 be a fixed integer, let q and c be two integers with q > n and ( n , q ) = ( c , q ) = 1. For every positive integer a which is coprime with q we denote by a_c the unique integer satisfying 1≤a_c≤q and aa_c≡c( mod q) . Put L(q)={a∈Z^+: (a,q)=1, n 0.1mm| a+a_c}. The elements of L ( q ) are called D.H. Lehmer numbers. The main purpose of this paper is to prove that (under natural conditions) every sufficiently large integer can be expressed as the sum of three D.H. Lehmer numbers.

Abstract:The famous partition theorem of Euler states that partitions of $n$ into distinct parts are equinumerous with partitions of $n$ into odd parts. Another famous partition theorem due to MacMahon states that the number of partitions of $n$ with all parts repeated at least once equals the number of partitions of $n$ where all parts must be even or congruent to $3 \pmod 6$. These partition theorems were further extended by Glaisher, Andrews, Subbarao, Nyirenda and Mugwangwavari. In this paper, we utilize the Chinese remainder theorem to prove a comprehensive partition theorem that encompasses all existing partition theorems. We also give a natural generalization of Euler's theorem based on a special complete residue system. Furthermore, we establish interesting congruence connections between the partition function $p(n)$ and related partition functions.

Abstract:Based on the Goldbach conjecture and arithmetic fundamental theorem, the Goldbach conjecture was extended to more general situations, i.e., any positive integer can be written as summation of some specific prime numbers, which depends on the divisible factor of this integer, that is: For any positive integer n (n>2), if there exists an integer m, such that m|n ( 1 < m < n ), then n=∑_i=1^m p_i, where p_i (i=1,2 ,3...m) is prime number. In addition, for more prime summands, the combinatorial counting is also discussed. For some special cases, some brief proofs are given. By the use of computer, the preliminary numerical verification was given, there is no an anti-example to be found.

Abstract:Let n >= 2 be a fixed positive integer, q >= 3 and c, l be integers with (nc, q) = 1 and l|n. Suppose A and B consist of consecutive integers which are coprime to q. We define the cardinality of a set: N(A, B, c, n, l;q) = #{(a, b) is an element of A x B vertical bar ab equivalent to c(mod q), (a + b, n) = l}. The main purpose of this paper is to use the estimates of Gauss sums and Kloosterman sums to study the asymptotic properties of N(A, B, c, n, l; q), and to give an interesting asymptotic formula for it.

Abstract:Zeckendorf proved that every positive integer has a unique partition as a sum of non-consecutive Fibonacci numbers. We study the difference between the number of summands in the partition of two consecutive integers. In particular, let $L(n)$ be the number of summands in the partition of $n$. We characterize all positive integers such that $L(n) > L(n+1)$, $L(n) < L(n+1)$, and $L(n) = L(n+1)$. Furthermore, we call $n+1$ a peak of $L$ if $L(n) < L(n+1) > L(n+2)$ and a divot of $L$ if $L(n) > L(n+1) < L(n+2)$. We characterize all such peaks and divots of $L$.

Abstract:A well-known result from Hardy and Ramanujan gives an asymptotic expression for the number of possible ways to express an integer as the sum of smaller integers. In this vein, we consider the general partitioning problem of writing an integer $n$ as a sum of summands from a given sequence $\gL$ of non-decreasing integers. Under suitable assumptions on the sequence $\gL$, we obtain results using associated zeta-functions and saddle-point techniques. We also calculate higher moments of the sequence $\gL$ as well as the expected number of summands. Applications are made to various sequences, including those of Barnes and Epstein types. These results are of potential interest in statistical mechanics in the context of Bose-Einstein condensation.

Abstract:In this paper, we study partitions of positive integers with restrictions involving squares. We mainly establish the following two results (which were conjectured by Sun in 2013): (i) Each positive integer $n$ can be written as $n=x+y+z$ with $x,y,z$ positive integers such that $x^2+y^2+z^2$ is a square, unless $n$ has the form $n=2^{a}3^{b}$ or $2^{a}7$ with $a$ and $b$ nonnegative integers. (ii) Each integer $n>7$ with $n\not=11,14,17$ can be written as $n=x+y+2z$ with $x,y,z$ positive integers such that $x^2+y^2+2z^2$ is a square.

Abstract:In this paper, we give a conjecture, which generalises Euler's partition theorem involving odd parts and different parts for all moduli. We prove this conjecture for two family partitions. We give $q$-difference equations for the related generating function if the moduli is three. We provide new companions to Rogers-Ramanujan-Andrews-Gordon identities under this conjecture.

Abstract:In 1997 K. Ono and K. Soundararajan [Invent. Math. 130(1997)] proved that under the generalized Riemann hypothesis any positive odd integer greater than 2719 can be represented by the famous Ramanujan form x(2) + y(2) + 10z(2); equivalently the form 2x(2) + 5y(2) + 4T(z) represents all integers greater than 1359, where T(z) denotes the triangular number z(z + 1)/2. Given positive integers a, b, c we employ modular forms and the theory of quadratic forms to determine completely when the general form ax(2) + by(2) + cT(z) represents sufficiently large integers and to establish similar results for the forms ax(2) + bT(y) + cT(z) and aT(x) + bT(y) + cT(z). Here are some consequences of our main theorems: (i) All sufficiently large odd numbers have the form 2ax(2) + y(2) + z(2) if and only if all prime divisors of a are congruent to 1 modulo (ii) The form ax(2) + y(2) + T(z) is almost universal (i.e., it represents sufficiently large integers) if and only if each odd prime divisor of a is congruent to 1 or 3 modulo 8. (iii) ax(2) + T(y) + T(z) is almost universal if and only if all odd prime divisors of a are congruent to 1 modulo 4. (iv) When v(2)(a) not equal 3, the form aT(x) + T(y) + T(z) is almost universal if and only if all odd prime divisors of a are congruent to 1 modulo 4 and v(2)(a) not equal 5, 7,..., where v(2)(a) is the 2-adic order of a.

Abstract:We prove that the number of even parts and the number of times that parts are repeated have the same distribution over integer partitions with a fixed perimeter. This refines Straub's analog of Euler's Odd-Distinct partition theorem. We generalize the two concerned statistics to those of the part-difference less than d and the parts not congruent to 1 modulo d+1 and prove a distribution inequality, that has a similar flavor as Alder's ex-conjecture, over partitions with a prescribed perimeter. Both of our results are proven analytically and combinatorially.
A bijection proof of Andrews-Merca integer partition theorem

Abstract:Andrews and Merca [J. Combin. Theory Ser. A 203 (2024), Art. 105849] recently obtained two interesting results on the sum of the parts with the same parity in the partitions of $n$ (the modulo $2$ case), the proof of which relies on generating functions. Motivated by Andrews and Merca's results, we define six statistics related to the partitions of $n$ and show that the two triples of the six statistics are equidistributed. From this equidistributed result, we derive modulo $m$ extensions of Andrews and Merca's results for all integers $m\ge 2$. The proof of the main result is based on a general bijection on the set of partitions of $n$.

Abstract:A classical problem of D. H. Lehmer suggests the study of distributions of elements of Z/pZ of opposite parity to the multiplicative inverse mod p. Zhang initiated this problem and found an asymptotic evaluation of the number of such elements. In this paper, an asymptotic formula for the fourth moment of the error term of Zhang is proved, from which one may see that Zhang's error term is optimal up to the logarithm factor. The method also applies to the case of arbitrary positive integral moments.

Abstract:Let (p) over bar (n) denote the number of overpartitions of n. We show that (p) over bar (3n) equivalent to (p) over bar (9 . 3n) (mod 3) for n >= 0 and (p) over bar (3n) equivalent to (-1)(n) (p) over bar (16 . 3n) (mod 3) for n >= 0 by using a relation of the generating function of (p) over bar (3n) modulo 3 and elementary dissection manipulations. Furthermore, by studying a 4-dissection formula of the generating function of (p) over bar (3n) modulo 3 and iterating the above two congruence relations, we derive that (p) over bar (16(alpha) 9(beta). (72n + 51)) equivalent to 0 (mod 3) for alpha, beta, n >= 0. Moreover, applying the fact that phi (q)(5) is a Hecke eigenform in M-5/2 ((Gamma) over tilde (0) (4)), we obtain an infinite family of congruences (p) over bar (16(alpha) 9(beta) . 3l(2)n) equivalent to 0 (mod 3), where alpha, beta >= 0 and l is a prime such that l equivalent to 1 (mod 3) and (n/l) = -1. In this way, we find various Ramanujan-type congruences for (p) over bar (n) modulo 3 such as (p) over bar (1029n + 441) equivalent to 0 (mod 3), (p) over bar (1029n + 735) equivalent to 0 (mod 3) and (p) over bar (1029n + 882) equivalent to 0 (mod 3) for n >= 0.5

Abstract:Let A be a nonempty set of positive integers. The restricted partition function denotes the number of partitions of n with parts in A . When the elements in A are pairwise relatively prime positive integers, Ehrhart, Sertöz–Özlük, and Brown–Chou–Shiue derived three reduction formulas for for A with three parameters. We extend their findings for general A using the Bernoulli–Barnes polynomials.

Generalized cubic partitions

Abstract:A cubic partition consists of partition pairs $(\lambda,\mu)$ such that $\vert\lambda\vert+\vert\mu\vert=n$ where $\mu$ involves only even integers but no restriction is placed on $\lambda$. This paper initiates the notion of generalized cubic partitions and will prove a number of new congruences akin to the classical Ramanujan-type. The tools emphasize three methods of proofs. The paper concludes with a conjecture on the rarity of the aforementioned Ramanujan-type congruences.

Abstract:Let bℓ(n) be the number of ℓ-regular partitions of n. We show that the generating functions of bℓ(n) with ℓ=3,5,6,7 and 10 are congruent to the products of two items of Ramanujan's theta functions ψ(q), f(−q) and (q;q)∞3 modulo 3, 5 and 7. So we can express these generating functions as double summations in q. Based on the properties of binary quadratic forms, we obtain vanishing properties of the coefficients of these series. This leads to several infinite families of congruences for bℓ(n) modulo 3, 5 and 7.
