Abstract:Nanocapsule preparation technology, as an emerging technology with great development prospects, has uniqueness and superiority in various industries. In this paper, the preparation technology of nanocapsules was systematically divided into three categories: physical methods, chemical methods, and physicochemical methods. The technological innovation of different methods in recent years was reviewed, and the mechanisms of nanocapsules prepared via emulsion polymerization, interface polymerization, layer-by-layer self-assembly technology, nanoprecipitation, supercritical fluid, and nano spray drying was summarized in detail. Different from previous reviews, the renewal iteration of core–shell structural materials was highlighted, and relevant illustrations of their representative and latest research results were reviewed. With the continuous progress of nanocapsule technology, especially the continuous development of new wall materials and catalysts, new preparation technology, and new production equipment, nanocapsule technology will be used more widely in medicine, food, cosmetics, pesticides, petroleum products, and many other fields.

What problem does this paper attempt to address?
The paper mainly discusses the improvements and advancements in the preparation technology of nanocapsules, especially the new developments based on traditional nanocapsule preparation methods. As an emerging technology with great development prospects, nanocapsules have shown unique advantages in multiple industries. The paper first systematically categorizes the preparation technologies of nanocapsules into three types: physical methods, chemical methods, and physicochemical methods, and reviews the technological innovations of different methods in recent years. Specifically, the paper focuses on several key nanocapsule preparation methods: 1. **Emulsion Polymerization**: This is a method based on the improvement of traditional emulsion polymerization. In emulsion polymerization, monomers are dispersed in water to form an emulsion with the help of emulsifiers and mechanical stirring, and then an initiator is added to trigger the polymerization reaction of the monomers. The principle of nanocapsule preparation is to disperse active substances, surfactants, emulsifiers, and polymerizable monomers into nanoscale droplets, and then initiate a polymerization reaction within these droplets to form polymer-encapsulated active substances as nanocapsules. 2. **Interfacial Polymerization**: Interfacial polymerization is commonly used for the preparation of microcapsules, requiring polymerizable monomers to move towards the interface by themselves or by external forces, thereby initiating a polymerization reaction at the two-phase interface to form a polymer-coated core material. Interfacial polymerization at the nanoscale requires more precise operations. Two types of monomers with di- (or multi-) functional groups are dissolved in two different liquids, and then a polycondensation reaction occurs at the interface between the two phases, ultimately forming nanocapsules. Furthermore, the paper also emphasizes the continuous progress of nanocapsule technology, especially the development of new wall materials and catalysts, advancements in new preparation techniques and production equipment, which will make the application of nanocapsule technology more widespread in fields such as medicine, food, cosmetics, pesticides, petroleum products, and more. In summary, the paper aims to summarize and evaluate the latest advancements in nanocapsule preparation technology, with a particular focus on the chemical methods of emulsion polymerization and interfacial polymerization, and discusses the advantages, limitations, and potential future applications of these technologies.
