Sustainability
Abstract:This study addresses the challenges faced by the fashion industry and its consumers in relation to sustainability and the circular economy in a digital age, relating them to the impacts that this industry triggers, both environmentally and socially. The aim is to understand the relations between environmental concern, fashion consumer awareness and adaptation to the digital evolution, and how these can result in an intention to buy sustainable fashion. The methodology adopted was based on other studies in the area, allowing us to answer the investigation question and, finally, to present some reflections that could mitigate the problems found. This research concisely highlights the limitations of the current linear economy, demonstrating the difficulties in the transition to a more sustainable world. This article is relevant for researchers in the field of fashion brand communication and consumer behaviour, as the results show some theoretical and experimental content for a better development of strategies and practices in the field of sustainable fashion, taking into account the digital evolution.

What problem does this paper attempt to address?
The paper aims to explore the sustainability challenges faced by the fashion industry in the digital age and its relationship with the circular economy. Specifically, the research objectives include the following aspects: 1. **Relate the concepts of sustainability and the circular economy to fashion consumers' consumption behavior**: Study how brand communication and the use of the digital world influence consumer behavior. 2. **Explore the relationship between Adaptation to Digital Evolution (ADE) and sustainable behavior intentions in the fashion industry**: Understand how consumers' familiarity and engagement with digital technologies and social platforms affect their inclination to adopt more sustainable consumption practices. 3. **Examine the moderating role of Knowledge of Sustainable Fashion Practices (KSFP) and technological literacy (ADE) between Environmental Concern (EC) and sustainable behavior intentions**: Investigate whether consumers' specific knowledge of sustainable fashion practices and technological literacy can enhance the impact of their environmental concerns on choosing more sustainable purchasing behaviors. 4. **Evaluate the impact of digital influence on sustainable consumer behavior**: Analyze how digital influencer recommendations, social media content, and digital marketing activities affect consumers' willingness to engage in sustainable fashion consumption practices. The relevance of this research lies in its emphasis on the increasing expectations consumers have of brands, which in turn influence their purchasing intentions, posing economic, environmental, and social challenges for producers. By analyzing these areas, companies need to consider new strategies, while consumers need to create new behaviors and consumption patterns through work, technology, and brands to protect the planet. Overall, this study is crucial for understanding the complex relationship between consumer behavior, sustainability, the circular economy, and digital development, providing insights for improving companies' consumer policies and practices.
