On The Characteristics and Values of Traditional Architecture Culture in the Ancient Town Tuokou

Abstract:The ancient town Tuokou was a small capitalist town in the southern part of China during the Ming and Qing Dynasty,whose development relied on trade and agriculture.Besides,it was also one of the transport hubs of the South Silk Road in ancient China.The culture of Dong,Miao,Tujia and Han people had a deep effect on its traditional architectures.As a result,there are various kinds of buildings designed for trade,inhabitant,workshop,religion,education and transportation.These types of buildings have rich contents and are characterized by the guiding of trade,the merger of different cultures,and the domination of belief.Meanwhile,the traditional buildings of Tuokou also have different aspects of values,such as tourism,art appreciation,historical culture and so on.
