Abstract:Based on the proof of Labastida-Mari{\~n}o-Ooguri-Vafa conjecture \cite{lmov}, we derive an infinite product formula for Chern-Simons partition functions, the generating function of quantum $\fsl_N$ invariants. Some symmetry properties of the infinite product will also be discussed.

Abstract:I calculate optimistically asymptotic behaviors of the WRT SU(2) invariants for the three-manifolds obtained from the figure-eight knot by p-surgeries with p=0,1,2,...,10, from which one can extract volumes and the Chern-Simons invariants of these closed manifolds. I conjecture that this also holds for general closed three-manifolds.

Twisted Iwasawa invariants of knots

Abstract:Let $p$ be a prime number and $m$ an integer coprime to $p$. In the spirit of arithmetic topology, we introduce the notions of the twisted Iwasawa invariants $\lambda, \mu, \nu$ of ${\rm GL}_N$-representations and $\mathbb{Z}/m\mathbb{Z}\times \mathbb{Z}_p$-covers of knots. We prove among other things that the set of Iwasawa invariants determine the genus and the fiberedness of a knot, yielding their profinite rigidity. Several intuitive examples are attached. We further prove the $\mu=0$ theorem for ${\rm SL}_2$-representations of twist knot groups and give some remarks.

Abstract:This is the third article in a series devoted to the study of the asymptotic expansions of various quantum invariants related to the twist knots. In this paper, by using the saddle point method developed by Ohtsuki and Yokota, we obtain an asymptotic expansion formula for the Reshetikhin-Turaev invariants of closed hyperbolic 3-manifolds obtained by doing integral $q$-surgery along the twist knots $\mathcal{K}_p$ at the root of unity $e^{\frac{4\pi\sqrt{-1}}{r}}$ ($r$ is odd).

Abstract:Starting from a torus knot $\mathcal{K}$ in the lens space $L(p,-1)$, we construct a Lagrangian sub-manifold $L_{\mathcal{K}}$ in $\mathcal{X}=\big(\mathcal{O}_{\mathbb{P}^1}(-1)\oplus \mathcal{O}_{\mathbb{P}^1}(-1)\big)/\mathbb{Z}_p$ under the conifold transition. We prove a mirror theorem which relates the all genus open-closed Gromov-Witten invariants of $(\mathcal{X},L_{\mathcal{K}})$ to the topological recursion on the B-model spectral curve. This verifies a conjecture in \cite{Bor-Bri} in the case of lens space.

Abstract:Motivated by the conjectured asymptotics of the Kashaev invariant, Dimofte and the first author introduced a power series associated to a suitable ideal triangulation of a cusped hyperbolic 3-manifold, proved that its constant (1-loop) term is a topological invariant and conjectured that it equals to the adjoint Reidemeister torsion. We prove this conjecture for hyperbolic 2-bridge knots by combining the work of Ohtsuki--Takata with an explicit computation.

By means of the knot operator formalism, we derive a generalization of the Rosso-Jones formula for torus knots in L(p,1). Twisted Knots and the Perturbed Alexander Invariant

Abstract:The perturbed Alexander invariant $\rho_1$, defined by Bar-Natan and van der Veen, is a powerful, easily computable polynomial knot invariant with deep connections to the Alexander and colored Jones polynomials. We study the behavior of $\rho_1$ for families of knots $\{K_t\}$ given by performing $t$ full twists on a set of coherently oriented strands in a knot $K_0 \subset S^3$. We prove that as $t \to \infty$ the coefficients of $\rho_1$ grow asymptotically linearly, and we show how to compute this growth rate for any such family. As an application we give the first theorem on the ability of $\rho_1$ to distinguish knots in infinite families, and we conjecture that $\rho_1$ obstructs knot positivity via a "perturbed Conway invariant." Along the way we expand on a model of random walks on knot diagrams defined by Lin, Tian and Wang.

Abstract:We describe an effective algorithm for computing Seiberg-Witen invariants of lens spaces. We apply it to two problems: (i) to compute the Froyshov invariants of a large family of lens spaces; (ii) to show that the knowledge of the Seiberg-Witten invariants of lens spaces is topologically equivalent to the knowledge of its Casson-Walker invariant and of its Milnor-Turaev torsion. We also use the results in problem (i) to derive several topological results concerning the negative definite manifolds bounding a given lens space.

Abstract:We study coloured invariants of torus knots $T(p,p')$ (where $p,p'$ are coprime positive integers). When the colouring Lie algebra is simply-laced, and when $p,p'\geq h^\vee$, we use the representation theory of the corresponding principal affine $\mathcal{W}$ algebras to understand the trailing monomials of the coloured invariants. In these cases, we show that the appropriate limits of the renormalized invariants are equal to the characters of certain $\mathcal{W}$ algebra modules (up to some factors). This result on limits rests on a purely Lie-algebraic conjecture on asymptotic weight multiplicities which we verify in some examples.

Abstract:Closed 3$$3$$-string braids admit many bandings to two-bridge links. By way of the Montesinos Trick, this allows us to construct infinite families of knots in the connected sum of lens spaces L(r,1)#L(s,1)$$L(r,1) \# L(s,1)$$ that admit a surgery to a lens space for all pairs of integers (r,s)$$(r,s)$$ except (0,0)$$(0,0)$$. These knots are typically hyperbolic. We also demonstrate that the previously known two families of examples of hyperbolic knots in non-prime manifolds with lens space surgeries of Eudave-Muñoz–Wu and Kang all fit this construction. As such, we propose a generalization of the cabling conjecture of González-Acuña–Short for knots in lens spaces.

Abstract:We study a local twist move on welded knots that is an analog of the virtualization move on virtual knots. Since this move is an unknotting operation we define an invariant, unknotting twist number, for welded knots. We relate the unknotting twist number with warping degree and welded unknotting number, and establish a lower bound on the twist number using Alexander quandle coloring. We also study the Gordian distance between welded knots by twist move and define the corresponding Gordian complex.

Abstract:A homogeneous knot is a generalization of alternating knots and positive knots. We determine the Rasmussen invariant of a homogeneous knot. This is a new class of knots such that the Rasmussen invariant is explicitly described in terms of its diagrams. As a corollary, we obtain some characterizations of a positive knot. In particular, we recover Baader's theorem which states that a knot is positive if and only if it is homogeneous and strongly quasipositive.

Abstract:Let $p$ be a prime number and let $d\in \mathbb{Z}_{>0}$. In this paper, following the analogy between knots and primes, we study the $p$-torsion growth in a compatible system of $(\mathbb{Z}/p^n\mathbb{Z})^d$-covers of 3-manifolds and establish several analogues of Cuoco--Monsky's multivariable versions of Iwasawa's class number formula. Our main goal is to establish the Cuoco--Monsky type formula for branched covers of links in rational homology 3-spheres. In addition, we prove the precise formula over integral homology 3-spheres prompted by Greenberg's conjecture. We also obtain results on reduced Alexander polynomials and on the Betti number periodicity. Furthermore, we investigate the twisted Whitehead links in $S^3$ and point out that the Iwasawa $\mu$-invariant of a $\mathbb{Z}_p^{\,2}$-cover can be an arbitrary non-negative integer. We also calculate the Iwasawa $\mu$ and $\lambda$-invariants of the Alexander polynomials of all links in Rolfsen's table.

Abstract:We construct two complete invariants of oriented classical knots in space. The value of each invariant on any knot is a set, infinite for the first invariant and finite for the second. The finite set is computed algorithmically from any knot diagram in a finite number of steps. The algorithm reveals the knotting number of the knot as well.

Super Gromov-Witten Invariants via torus localization

Abstract:In this article we propose a definition of super Gromov-Witten invariants by postulating a torus localization property for the odd directions of the moduli spaces of super stable maps and super stable curves of genus zero. That is, we define super Gromov-Witten invariants as the integral over the pullback of homology classes along the evaluation maps divided by the equivariant Euler class of the normal bundle of the embedding of the moduli space of stable spin maps into the moduli space of super stable maps. This definition sidesteps the difficulties of defining a supergeometric intersection theory and works with classical intersection theory only. The properties of the normal bundles, known from the differential geometric construction of the moduli space of super stable maps, imply that super Gromov-Witten invariants satisfy a generalization of Kontsevich-Manin axioms and allow for the construction of a super small quantum cohomology ring. We describe a method to calculate super Gromov-Witten invariants of $\mathbb{P}^n$ of genus zero by a further geometric torus localization and give explicit numbers in degree one when dimension and number of marked points are small.

Abstract:The Euler characteristic and the volume are two best-known multiplicative invariants of manifolds under finite covers. On the other hand, quantum invariants of 3-manifolds are not multiplicative. We show that a perturbative power series, introduced by Dimofte and the first author and shown to be a topological invariant of cusped hyperbolic 3-manifolds by Storzer--Wheeler and the first author, and conjectured to agree with the asymptotics of the Kashaev invariant to all orders in perturbation theory, is asymptotically multiplicative under cyclic covers. Moreover, its coefficients are determined by polynomials constructed out of twisted Neumann--Zagier data. This gives a new $t$-deformation of the perturbative quantum invariants, different than the $x$-deformation obtained by deforming the geometric representation. We illustrate our results with several hyperbolic knots.
