Abstract:Green innovation is a key aspect for organizations to realize sustainable development strategy in emerging markets. Based on the stakeholder theory, resource-based view, and dynamic capabilities theory, this study introduces corporate social responsibility (CSR) and green dynamic capability to investigate the mechanisms driving corporate green innovation. The green innovation is classified into two different aspects such as green product innovation and green process innovation. By surveying 424 manufacturing companies in China and analyzing with linear regression, we find that: (1) CSR practice significantly promotes green product innovation and green process innovation. (2) Green dynamic capability significantly promotes green product innovation and green process innovation. (3) Green dynamic capability function as a mediator between CSR and green innovation. Based on dynamic capabilities, this study reveals the impact mechanism of CSR on green innovation, expands the dynamic capabilities theory, and provides new guidance to improve green innovation for Chinese manufacturing companies.

Abstract:Businesses increasingly recognize the strategic advantage of adopting a green approach, especially in light of the world's growing interest in sustainable development. This strategy appeals to people because it can enhance economic success and ensure long-term sustainability. While there have been numerous studies examining the impact of corporate social responsibility (CSR) on businesses, there is still a significant gap in knowledge regarding the links between CSR, sustainable consumption and production (SCP), green innovation (GI), and green supply chain management (GSCM), and how they collectively contribute to sustainability. This research addresses the gap by exploring the mediating role of GI and GSCM in the relationship between CSR and SCP in contemporary businesses. The study utilized partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) to analyze the survey data collected from a sample of 486 managerial staff members. The findings reveal how CSR impacts SCP through the intermediary effects of GI and GSCM. Furthermore, this research contributes to the existing CSR literature by highlighting the potential benefits of CSR in generating value for the firm's performance. In light of these findings, it is recommended that small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) adjust their strategies and operations to impact the environment, culture, and economy positively. This research underscores the need for a circular economy in GSCM to promote sustainability.
Employee green behavior: a study on the impact of corporate social responsibility (CSR) on employee green behavior, green culture: the moderating role of green innovation

Abstract:This study adopts the natural resource-based view (NRBV) of the firm to investigate the relationships between corporate social responsibility (CSR), employees' green behavior (EGB), green culture, environmental performance (EP), and green innovation (GI) in China's automobile manufacturing industry. A survey of 465 employees was conducted. The data were analyzed using partial least squares structural equation modeling. The results showed that CSR positively influences EGB and GC, which in turn improves EP. CSR also directly impacts EP. Furthermore, GI enhances the positive effect of CSR on EP through the mediators EGB and GC. The findings contribute to the literature by elucidating the mechanisms linking CSR and EP. They provide an integrated framework incorporating direct, mediated, and moderated effects. For practice, the study highlights the importance of CSR, EGB, and GC for manufacturers aiming to improve environmental sustainability. It suggests managers should promote green values, foster eco-innovation, and encourage employees' discretionary green actions. The moderating effect of GI implies embedding sustainability in corporate culture and operations to magnify the gains from CSR. Overall, the research offers insights into translating green strategic intent into performance outcomes through cultural and behavioral transformation.

Abstract:This research aims to examine the relationship between corporate social responsibility (CSR), firm environmental performance (FEP), and firm financial performance (FFP), as well as how green technology innovation performs a mediating role in this relationship. The manufacturing firms listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchanges were selected as the representative sample for the study, and data were gathered from 470 managers and directors of manufacturing firms using a simple random sampling technique. The response rate was 87%. For hypothesis testing, PLS-SEM was used. In addition, green technology innovation is a positive and significant mediator between corporate social responsibility and firm financial and environmental performance. This research provides useful implications for manufacturing firms’ managers, directors, and policymakers to improve corporate social responsibility (CSR) and green technology innovation in measuring the firm’s financial and environmental performance. The results also have several practical implications that may benefit the management of firms. They urge all of the organization’s stakeholders to consider investing in organizational social behavior and green innovation to enhance the manufacturing firms’ overall performance.

Abstract:This paper discusses antecedent and consequent of green innovation from CSR perspective and proposes a conceptual framework indicating the relationship among CSR strategy, green innovation and firm performance. The conceptual framework demonstrates that CSR strategy is one important antecedent of green innovation and different green innovations contribute to different firm performance. More specifically, proactive CSR strategy more leads to radical green innovation, while reactive CSR strategy more leads to incremental green innovation; radical green innovation is more positively correlated to short-term firm performance while incremental green innovation is more positively correlated to long-term firm performance. In addition, this paper identifies two condition variables (market absorptive capability and visibility of green innovation) which influence the relationship between green innovation and firm performance.

Abstract:Within the ever-changing manufacturing landscape of China, corporate social responsibility (CSR) is a key factor influencing environmental performance. Knowing the relationship between corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts and environmental results is crucial as environmental concerns throughout the world grow more pressing. This research explores the complex relationship between CSR practices and environmental performance, focusing on how green innovation and environmental strategy function as mediating factors. The urgent need to prevent industrial environmental consequences in the face of fast economic expansion highlights the need for this investigation. China, a major force in world manufacturing, must balance environmental sustainability with economic expansion. In addition to improving a company's reputation, effective CSR initiatives are essential for promoting sustainable development. Through an analysis of the mediating functions of green innovation, which propels technological developments, and environmental strategy, which comprises policies and practices, we clarify how proactive CSR methods can ignite revolutionary shifts towards more environmentally friendly manufacturing processes. Abstract:Environmental success can only become a reality when the financial goals of firms are not compromised. Based on this proposition, the study aimed to investigate four relationships, including the effect of corporate social responsibility (CSR) on financial performance, mediation of green dynamic capabilities (GDCs) between CSR and green innovation (GI), mediation of GI between CSR and financial performance, and moderation of perceived environmental volatility in GI and financial performance nexus. A sample of 655 manufacturing firms was collected from Pakistan to test the proposed hypotheses, and structural equation modeling was conducted. The results demonstrate a positive significant influence of CSR on financial performance. In addition, the mediation of GDCs and GI has also been confirmed. Furthermore, the results demonstrate that high environmental volatility weakens the GI and financial performance nexus. The study results offer unique contributions to the literature and interesting suggestions for practicing emerging economy managers.

Abstract:From the environmental sustainability perspective, scholars have considered corporate social responsibility activities as an essential mechanism for enhancing enterprise performance and innovation outcomes. However, how and under what conditions corporate social responsibility activities influence green innovation performance in emerging economies is still unclear. From the perspective of the theory of planned behavior, we construct a theoretical model to assess how corporate social responsibility activities affect enterprises’ green innovation performance. Explicitly, we investigate the mediating and moderating effects of managerial environmental concern and green absorptive capacity on the relationship between corporate social responsibility activities and enterprises’ green innovation performance. This research relies on a sample of 358 enterprises from the manufacturing and service sectors in China, and uses regression analysis and bootstrap to test the hypotheses proposed. The empirical results demonstrate that (1) corporate social responsibility activities positively enhance enterprises’ green innovation performance; (2) corporate social responsibility activities have a positive influence on managerial environmental concern; (3) managerial environmental concern has a mediating role between corporate social responsibility activities and green innovation performance; (4) managerial environmental concern has a powerful influence on green innovation performance; (5) green absorptive capacity positively moderates the association between managerial environmental concern and green innovation performance. This research work proposes that managerial environmental concern and green absorptive capacity play a mediating and moderating function on the linkage amongst corporate social responsibility activities and green innovation performance.

Nexus between corporate social responsibility and firm performance: a green innovation and environmental sustainability paradigm

Abstract:Climate change concerns have become severe challenges in developing countries' sustainable development due to the immense usage of fossil fuels. The government has effectively employed green practices to solve these challenges in developing countries. This study explores how corporate social responsibility influences firm performance by analyzing the data collected from 650 respondents of manufacturing firms in a developing country, i.e., China. Structural equation modeling has been applied to analyze and investigate the proposed hypotheses. The results showed that corporate social responsibility does not directly affect the firm performance. In contrast, corporate social responsibility is positively related to green transformational leadership and green innovation, which improve firm performance. The results further indicated that green innovation and green transformational leadership significantly mediate the link between corporate social responsibility and firm performance. This study offers essential insights for managers and policymakers of manufacturing firms in managing corporate social responsibility, green innovation, and green transformational leadership when analyzing firm performance. It may aid general managers of major manufacturing firms in strengthening internal resources to improve the firm performance.

Abstract:Sustainable organizational achievement of firms is the dominant approach in today’s world, with an inclination on improving profitability, social condition, and a healthy environment. Based on ability, motivation, opportunity (AMO), and stakeholder theories, this study explored the green human resource management (GHRM) and corporate social responsibility (CSR) mechanism towards sustainable performance achievement. A structured questionnaire survey from 305 samples was appropriate for the quantitative study on this research. Moreover, widely used structural equation modeling and analysis of moment structures (AMOS) was used to analyze the proposed structural model of the study. Findings from the study added significance to all posited hypotheses and validated the study model. The current study added literature to the body of knowledge on green human resource management practices and corporate social responsibility in the pursuit of improved performance towards society, the environment, and sustainability of construction firms. For future studies, the inclusion of industries such as transportation-based industries and manufacturing companies that contribute to development should be considered for broad learning.

Abstract:Purpose The paper aims to study the relationship between corporate social responsibility, green supply chain management, and operational performance and the moderating effects of relational capital on these relationships. Design/methodology/approach The authors conduct an empirical study with a structural equation modeling approach to investigate the relationship between corporate social responsibility—constructed by the quality and environmental responsibility, green supply chain management—including green supplier and customer management and operational performance—manifested by quality, cost, flexibility, and delivery performance using data from 308 manufacturers in China. Besides, the authors explore the moderating effect of supplier and customer relational capital on these relationships. Findings The findings indicate that a company's quality and environmental responsibility significantly impacts its green supply chain management practices, which further improve its operational performance in quality, cost, flexibility, and delivery. In addition, supplier and customer relational capital strengthens the influence of environmental responsibility on green supply chain management. While supplier relational capital reinforces the impact of green supplier management on flexibility and delivery performance, customer relational capital only strengthens the influence of green customer management on flexibility performance. Originality/value The study enriches the extant literature by developing a holistic framework integrating corporate social responsibility, green supply chain management, relational capital, and operational performance and unraveling their intricate relationships. The authors’ findings help practitioners prioritize proactive steps in environmental conservation more than achieving operational performance.

Abstract:Purpose This study aims to analyze and discuss the impact of corporate social responsibility (CSR) on firms' performance, as well as to examine the interplay between CSR and the economy, society and innovation. Design/methodology/approach This paper collects data from 420 manufacturing firms across various geographical regions in China. By using a structural equation model, the paper investigates the impact of CSR on enterprise innovation, customer management capability, market competitiveness (MC) and firm financial performance. Findings The findings demonstrate that CSR performance positively contributes to enhancing the level of enterprise innovation, as well as customer management capability and market competitiveness. Furthermore, it assists enterprises in improving market competitiveness and elevating customer management capabilities. Thus, CSR can have a positive effect on the firm financial performance. Originality/value The outcomes presented in this paper offer valuable evidence regarding the influence of implementing CSR on different aspects of enterprise performance and innovation. Moreover, it provides practical recommendations for enterprises seeking to transition towards low-carbon practices and upgrade their manufacturing industry.

Abstract:President Xi set a long-term mitigation target of carbon neutrality by 2060 in September 2020 to cut carbon emissions and improve environmental performance. As a result, the current study aims to investigate how green human resource management and green innovation affect environmental performance in pursuit of the ultimate objective of carbon neutrality. Furthermore, the research considers the potential mediating effect of a green competitive advantage to clarify the mechanisms by which GHRM and green innovation impact environmental performance. Data from 278 employees in the manufacturing industry of Heilongjiang Province were collected through a questionnaire, for which we used a quantitative random sampling technique. The study employed the Smart PLS-4 structural equation modeling technique and revealed that all three factors significantly influenced environmental performance: green HRM, innovation, and competitive advantage. Resource-based view (RBV) theory served as the theoretical foundation for the study. The study uniquely contributes to the literature on GHRM, green innovation, competitive advantage, and environmental performance.

Abstract:In this research work, we investigate the direct impact of CEO power on corporate performance, as well as the mediating role of green innovation in this hypothesized relationship. In this study, we use observation data collected from 780 listed manufacturing companies, explicitly focusing on the Karachi Stock Exchange (KSE), and adopt a GMM (generalized method of moments) model for testing our hypotheses. The results of this research show that CEO power has a negative impact on sustainable corporate performance, while the mediating role of green innovation positively and completely regulates the effect of CEO power on enterprises' sustainable performance. This study adds novelty to the literature as it explores the influence of green innovation in manufacturing enterprises on CEO power and firm performance and observes the direct impact of green innovation and CEO power on sustainable business performance. The results of this study show that a green innovation strategy significantly affects CEO power and manufacturing firm performance and that companies that adopt green initiatives can increase corporate value and improve their reputation among stakeholders. The conclusions of this study have important implications for both theory and practice in this field.

Abstract:Sustainability has profound implications for environmental competitiveness, yet little has been done to study the feasibility of sustainable supply chain management (SSCM) practices as a predictor of organizational performance (operational and environmental performance). By integrating stakeholder theory and dynamic capability theory, this study aims to determine the impact of corporate social responsibility (CSR) on SSCM practices and assess its impact on organizational performance. This research also investigates the role of big data analytical capabilities (BDAC) in mediating the relationship between SSCM practices and organizational performance. The authors collected data online, examined 320 valid responses, and tested research hypotheses. The findings suggest that CSR (both internal and external CSR) positively promotes SSCM practices and contributes to expanding dynamic capacity theory in the context of BDA capabilities. BDAC is also a key mediator between SSCM practices and organizational performance. These results contribute to and improve the research on stakeholder theory and SSCM practice and provide a new perspective for scholars to further study this issue.

Creating a greener future: the crucial role of green innovation and supply chain management in corporate sustainability

Abstract:One of the most pressing concerns today is how to improve green innovation and supply chain management for company sustainability. It has been discovered that inefficient supply chain management is a major barrier limiting eco-friendly innovation. The supply chain management process is crucial to a company's long-term viability, yet previous research barely scratched the surface of its significance. This article uses a resource-based view to investigate how integrating green innovation and organizational agility into the supply chain management process contributes to the long-term success of businesses. This study used a cross-sectional approach. Structured equation modeling was used to examine data collected through convenience sampling from 475 employees of Chinese multinational manufacturing enterprises. Green innovation helps smooth over the bumps on the road between supply chain management and sustainable business results. Green innovation and business sustainable performance also benefit from organizational agility, which was not shown to moderate this relationship. The study teaches that in today's knowledge-based economy, firms that invest in novel technologies and adopt greener strategies are better able to address sensitive issues like supply chain management and organizational agility and achieve long-term success. This research aims to provide light on the complex interconnections between supply chain management, green innovation, and the sustainable performance of businesses. The theoretical framework for the present research was validated by the occurrence of a positive association between these variables.

Abstract:The growth of green-oriented businesses for sustainable development (SD) is no longer optional in the current dynamic world, especially for manufacturing businesses in general. Accordingly, the present study investigates the interlinkages between green organizational strategy (GOS), environmental corporate social responsibility (ECSR), and organizational sustainable performance (OSP) by exploring the key mediating role of green technology innovation (GTI). This study uses a quantitative method to gather data from Chinese manufacturing industries, employing a well-structured questionnaire. Senior and middle-level managers were the intended respondents. From the primary survey, 264 valid responses were gathered. The final data were analyzed using SmartPLS (version 3.3.9) by adopting structural equation modeling (SEM) to examine the associations between the targeted constructs, and the results add to the recent literature by offering a cohesive model of GOS, ECSR, GTI, and OSP. The findings revealed that GOS has a strong positive effect on ECSR, GTI, and OSP. Further, ECSR has a strong positive impact on GTI and OSP. Meanwhile, GTI is a key mediating variable in these relationships, which previous studies have not explored. This study innovatively integrates the three green traits, namely, GOS, ECSR, and GTI, into a comprehensive model that is understudied in existing literature in order to help businesses improve their sustainable competitive advantage. The ultimate aim is to help businesses improve their environmental performance and achieve solid sustainability over the long term.

Abstract:Environmental corporate social responsibility is important for firms to achieve both economic benefits and the sustainable development of firms and the environment, which are of great concern to theorists and practitioners. However, the relationship between environmental corporate social responsibility and green innovation performance is still unclear. To address the research gap, we propose a research model that incorporates the mediating effect of shared vision capability, and the moderating effect of resource slack, to investigate whether and when environmental corporate social responsibility affects green innovation performance. Data were obtained from 351 respondents of Chinese firms through a questionnaire. The results confirmed that environmental corporate social responsibility is positively associated with green innovation performance. The results also confirmed that shared vision capability mediated the environmental corporate social responsibility–green innovation performance link. Resource slack statistically significantly moderated the relationship between environmental corporate social responsibility and green innovation performance. These findings offer novel insight for managers when formulating management policies about environmental corporate social responsibility, shared vision capability, and green innovation performance, which can help enterprises to achieve the goal of sustainable development and promote environmental friendliness in society at large.

Abstract:This study aims to find out the relationship between CSR, environmental and export performance, as well as the moderating effect of green business strategy and innovation based on the evidence from Chinese manufacturing SMEs. For this study a total of 212 questionnaires were conducted on small and medium-sized equipment export manufacturing companies in the Guangdong Province, the data analysis is conducted by SP SS to verify the research model. This study found a positive relationship between corporate social responsibility and environmental and export performance. Furthermore, results illustrated that innovation moderates the relationship between CSR and export performance. This paper investigates the link between CSR, green business strategy, innovation, export and environmental performance for the developing-country manufacturer that confronts specific barriers. It also provides a glimpse into academic and practical implications that may help manufacturing SMEs in developing countries, which are in a similar situation to China, to better their performance.

Using survey data from 236 heavy polluting manufacturing firms in China, this study investigates the impact of green innovation on firm performance. The results show that green innovation is positively correlated with both enterprise performance and green dynamic capability, whereas green dynamic capability also has a significant impact on enterprise performance. Furthermore, the survey found that the green resource integration ability, organizational learning capability, and environmental insight capability of green dynamic capability play a moderating effect on the relationship between green innovation and enterprise performance. Additionally, we provide useful enlightenment for policymakers and business managers to stimulate green innovation in enterprises. Our research not only assists managers to better grasp the effects of green innovation practices but also provides some important implications for policymakers.
