Abstract:Chronic energy deficiency (CED) in pregnant women is a condition of energy and protein deficiency that lasts for years and causes problems in the mother and fetus. Due to its significant consequences, determining the determinants associated with CED incidence is of utmost importance. The aim of this study was to determine the determinants of the incidence of CED in pregnant women in Indonesia. A cross-sectional study was conducted on pregnant women in Banyumas, Central Java, Indonesia, in 2022. Plausible determinants included maternal age, pregnancy interval, parity, educational attainment, nutritional knowledge, employment, frequency of antenatal care (ANC), and nutritional intake. The Chi-squared test followed by multivariate logistic regression were used to determine the factors associated with the incidence of CED. Our data indicated that 32% of the pregnant women had CED. Univariate analysis found that maternal age (p=0.022), pregnancy interval (p=0.009), educational attainment (p=0.012), knowledge of nutrition and CED (p=0.023), frequency of utilization of ANC services (p=0.028), energy intake (p=0.002), protein intake (p=0.006), vitamin C intake (p=0.016), folate intake (p=0.011), and calcium intake (p=0.004) were significantly associated with CED incidence in the pregnant women. Multivariate analysis indicated that extreme maternal age (OR; 3.49; 95%CI: 1.10–11.05), low educational attainment (OR: 4.12; 95%CI: 1.37–12.33), short pregnancy interval (OR; 7.30; 95%CI: 1.84–28.99), low frequency of ANC (OR: 3.06; 95%CI: 1.01–9.19) and low protein intake (OR: 6.80; 95%CI: 1.62–28.59) were associated with CED incidence. This study underscores the importance of increasing nutritional intake, frequency of ANC, and pregnancy interval among pregnant women to reduce the risk of CED and its adverse health outcomes.
The role of socio-economic status and energy-density in Australian women of child-bearing age

Abstract:Introduction: An optimal diet is imperative in preparing women for pregnancy and this may be influenced by socio-economic status (SES). This research aims to investigate the role of SES on the dietary energy density (ED) in Australian women of preconception age. Methods: A secondary analysis of the Australian National Nutrition and Physical Activity Survey 2011-12 for females aged 18-39 years (n = 1617) was conducted. Dietary intake was assessed by 24-hr recalls and dietary ED by dietary energy per weight (kJ.g-1 ). ED was further categorised as ED of foods and beverages separately. SES was assessed by three variables: Socio-Economic Indexes for Areas (SEIFA), developed by the Australian Bureau of Statistics; income decile; and level of education. Linear mixed model regressions were used to identify associations between ED and SES. Results: The median ED for food, beverages and combined food and beverages was 9.38 kJ g-1 , 1.02 kJ g-1 and 7.11 kJ g-1 , respectively. No significant variation was explained by SES variables when analysing combined ED in the adjusted model or ED from foods. Income decile reduced ED of beverages, although with little effect (coefficient: -0.04, P = 0.002). Significant confounders included inactivity, which increased ED in both combined ED and ED foods (coefficient: 0.51, P = 0.001 and coefficient: 0.78, P < 0.001). Conclusions: SES explained little variation in dietary ED in women of childbearing age. A large proportion of women had high energy-dense diets regardless of their SES. These findings suggest that a large proportion of women, who may become pregnant, have diets that exceed the international recommendations for dietary energy density.

Abstract:The dietary patterns and quality of diets of women of reproductive age (WRA) significantly affect their health and that of their children. The suboptimal diet among women can lead to issues such as intrauterine growth retardation, low birth weight, premature birth, and malnutrition. To examine the dietary patterns and nutrient intake of WRA in the indigenous communities of the Attappady tribal block in Kerala, we conducted a cross-sectional study in 20 randomly selected villages in 2022. The study involved 24 h dietary recall surveys, anthropometric measurements, and estimation of hemoglobin concentration to assess nutrient intake and nutritional status. A total of 446 women aged 15-49 from 423 households participated, with 92 households included in the diet survey. The findings indicated that the diet was primarily based on cereals and root-based starchy staples, with low consumption of dairy products, fruits, and vegetables. The estimated intakes of major nutrients, except for protein, were lower than the recommended dietary allowance (RDA). Nearly 50% of the WRA were malnourished. About 32% of non-pregnant and non-lactating (NPNL) women and 40% of lactating mothers suffered from chronic energy deficiency (BMI < 18.5 kg/m2). Conversely, 13.4% of NPNL women and 15% of lactating mothers were overweight or obese (BMI ≥ 25 kg/m2). A total of 12.5% of adolescent girls aged 15-19 were thin (BAZ < -2 SD), and 10.5% were overweight or obese (BAZ > +1 SD). Since the co-existence of micronutrient deficiencies and undernutrition is rooted in the socio-cultural aspects of indigenous tribes, a culturally sensitive nutrition intervention model would be appropriate for the better health and wellbeing of women in the community.
Women’s Preferences for Doctor’s Involvement in Decisions about Mammography Screening

Abstract:Objectives. To assess women’s preferences for doctor’s involvement in mammography screening decisions. Methods. Mail survey of 50-to 69-year-old women residing in Geneva, Switzerland (N = 2216).Results. Women considered that the decision to undergo mammography screening should be made by thedoctor alone (5.6%), doctor primarily (42.6%),shared equally between woman and doctor (45.0%),woman primarily (4.2%), andwoman alone (2.4%). These subgroups differed considerably. Compared to women in theshared equally group,doctor alone respondents were more likely to be older, to be born outside Switzerland, and to wish to know as late as possible about having cancer. In contrast, woman alone respondents were more likely to report no previous mammogram, to expect bad news frommammograms, and to feel nervous about screening. Conclusions. Most women wished to see their doctor involved in the decision to undergo a screening mammogram. Nevertheless, notable minorities held other opinions.
Cross-sectional Relationship Between Dietary Protein Intake, Energy Intake and Protein Energy Wasting in Chronic Kidney Disease Patients

Abstract:The potential threshold for dietary energy intake (DEI) that might prevent protein-energy wasting (PEW) in chronic kidney disease (CKD) is uncertain. The subjects were non-dialysis CKD patients aged ≥ 14 years who were hospitalized from September 2019 to July 2022. PEW was measured by subjective global assessment (SGA). DEI and dietary protein intake (DPI) were obtained by 3-days diet recalls. Patients were divided into adequate DEI group and inadequate DEI group according to DEI ≥ 30 or < 30 kcal/kg/d. Logistic regression analysis and restricted cubic spline (RCS) were used in this study. We enrolled 409 patients, with 53.8% had hypertension and 18.6% had diabetes. The DEI and DPI was 27.63 ± 5.79 kcal/kg/day and 1.00 (0.90,1.20) g/kg/day, respectively. 69.2% of participants in inadequate DEI group. Malnutrition occurred in 18.6% of patients. Comparing to patients in adequate DEI group, those in inadequate DEI group had significantly lower total lymphocyte count (TLC), serum cholesterol (Chol) and low-density cholesterol (LDL), and a higher prevalence of PEW. For every 1kcal/kg/day increase in DEI, the incidence of PEW was reduced by 12.0% [odds ratio (OR): 0.880, 95% confidence interval (CI): 0.830 to 0.933, P < 0.001]. There was a nonlinear curve relationship between DEI and PEW (overall P < 0.001), and DEI ≥ 27.6 kcal/kg/d may have a preventive effect on PEW in CKD. Low DPI was also significantly associated with malnutrition, but not when DEI was adequate. Decreased energy intake may be a more important factor of PEW in CKD than protein intake.

Abstract:The shift of protein between plasma and experimentally induced inflammatory oedema has been studied in mice after intravenous injection of radioiodinated human serum albumin. Calculations were based on the difference between the total amounts or radioactivity in inflamed skin samples and self control samples of equal surface areas. It was demonstrated that during the initial 15 min of the inflammatory process the oedema contained less radioactivity per unit weight than the plasma. Subsequent to this point, however, the activity increments of the inflamed tissue could be accounted for in terms of extravasated plasma. It was further shown that human serum albumin injected intravenously to mice disappears from the plasma according to a linear function in a semilogarithmic system. The disappearance half time was 99 min in control animals but 32 min in mice with localized inflammatory oedema. The average plasma volume of mice weighing 25 g was 1,1 ml as determined by means of radioiodinated human serum albumin.

However, in Ethiopia, there were very few studies done to assess the prevalence of protein-energy wasting (PEW) and its associated factors among CKD patients. Objective: To assess protein-energy wasting and associated factors among chronic kidney disease patients at adult OPD St. Paulo's Hospital Millennium Medical College, Addis Ababa Ethiopia. Materials and Methods: An institution-based cross-sectional study was conducted from March to April 2019. Data were collected using a structured interviewer-administered questionnaire and anthropometric measurements, and laboratory data were collected from patient files. Data were entered into Epi-data version 3.1 and analyzed using SPSS version 20. Both bivariate and multiple logistic regression analyses were performed to identify associated factors. P values < 0.05 were considered to declare statistical significance. Results: In this study, 274 respondents were interviewed with a response rate of 100%. The prevalence of protein-energy wasting in CKD patients was 23.4%. Chronic kidney disease patients at age ≥ 65 years were seven times more likely to have protein-energy wasting as compared to patients aged 18– 34 years [AOR=7.0, 95% (CI: 2.4, 20.5)]. Patients who had a history of anorexia were 5.2 times more likely to have protein-energy wasting as compared to those who had no history of anorexia [(AOR=5.2, 95% (CI: 2.7, 10.3)] and were significantly associated with the risk of having CKD. Conclusion: The prevalence of protein-energy wasting among CKD patients was high and associated with age, physical activity, history of anorexia, and CKD stages. Interventions that address nutritional problems and lifestyle factors in CKD patients need to be implemented together with medical treatment. Abstract:Poor maternal nutrition during pregnancy creates a stressful environment that can lead to long-term effects on tissue development. Understanding the food consumption score can be used to prevent problems associated with poor dietary intake of pregnant mothers. In Ethiopia, the food consumption score ranges from 54% to 81.5%, which is far below the World Food Program (WFP) recommendation. Thus, this study aimed to assess food consumption score and associated factors among pregnant women attending antenatal care services in health centers of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. This study has used institution based cross sectional study. Overall, 999 pregnant women were selected for this study. A multistage sampling technique followed by systematic random sampling was used to include pregnant women coming for antenatal care services in the selected health centers of Addis Ababa from June 07 to July 08, 2022. We used interviewer administered questionnaire using the Kobo toolbox. Food consumption score (FCS) was assessed after collecting data on frequency of eight food groups consumed over the previous seven days, which were weighted according to their relative nutritional value. STATA 14 was used to analyse the data. Ordinal logistic regression was used to identify independent predictors of food consumption score. Those variables having p value < 0.25 in the bivariable ordinal logistic regression were considered for the final model. Crude and Adjusted Odds Ratio were used to assess the strength of the association. In the final model, p value < 0.05 at 95% confidence interval was used to declare statistical significance. From the total of 949 pregnant women a little over half (51.20% (95%CI: 48.00%-54.40%) had acceptable food consumption score, while just over two fifth (42.60% (95% CI: 39.40%-45.70%)) and a small proportion (6.2% (95%CI: 4.84%-7.94%)) of the study participants had borderline and poor food consumption score, respectively. No meal skip (AOR = 1.37, 95% CI:1.03–1.81), able to read and write (AOR = 3.99, 95% CI: 1.33–11.96), poorest wealth status (AOR = 0.52, 95% CI: 0.34–0.78), positive attitude towards consumption of a diversified diet (AOR = 1.52,95% CI: 1.17–1.98) were independent predictors of acceptable food consumption score. In this study, considerably low level of acceptable food consumption score among the study participants was observed. Besides, not skipping meal, having better educational status, wealth status and attitude towards consumption of a diversified diet were associated with acceptable food consumption score. Therefore, nutritional education considering important dietary modifications should be intensified targeting vulnerable groups.

Abstract:Introduction: The pattern of diet intake is associated with food availability and the intake of nutrients from different food groups and is an important component of nutritional status. The dietary habits of individuals are integral to understanding their nutritional wellbeing, making this assessment crucial for public health interventions. The objective of the study was to assess the dietary intake pattern and nutritional status among women of reproductive age in slum areas of Pokhara Metropolitan. Methodology. A cross-sectional analytical study was conducted to assess the dietary intake pattern and nutritional status among 404 women of reproductive age in the slum area of Pokhara from June 2019 to December 2019. A simple random sampling technique was used to select the wards while a purposive sampling technique was used to collect the samples. 24-hour recall meal-based questions and anthropometric measurements were used for collecting data. Data were entered into EpiData and analyzed using SPSS version 16 software for analysis. Frequency and mean, median, chi-square test, and logistic regression were performed. Results: The mean (±SD) age (SD) of the participants was 31 (±9.25) years, and most of the participants belonged to the age group 25-35 years. Out of 404 women of reproductive age, 99% of the participants consumed starchy staple foods daily, while 56.7% ate vegetables daily, and nearly half frequently consumed prepackaged foods and soft drinks. Among the total participants, 41.3% were found with a normal BMI, 37.6% were overweight, and only 12.4% were underweight. There was a significant association between underweight and age, women's occupation, and frequency of food consumption per day. Age, knowledge of nutrition, and frequency of food consumption per day were found to be associated factors with being overweight at a p value <0.05. Conclusion: Age, occupation status, and frequency of food consumption were the key predictors of being underweight, and age, knowledge regarding nutrition, and frequency of meals were the key predictors of being overweight. Developing countries must emphasize the importance of considering these factors in public health interventions and strategies aimed at promoting healthy weight management. More studies are needed.

Abstract:The study aimed to assess the association between pre-conception health and nutrition Knowledge-Attitude-Practice (KAP) and anemia among Pre-Marital Women (PMW). In this cross-sectional study, Mid-Upper Arm Circumference (MUAC) measurement, 24-hour food recall interview, blood sample collection, and validated KAP questionnaire interview were conducted to 111 PMW in Sleman in 2021. The study found that 21.6%, 14.4%, and 49.1% of PMW had Chronic Energy Deficiency (CED), anemia, and lack of minimum dietary diversity, respectively. The proportions of PMW with adequate KAP were 70.5%, 67.8%, and 64.3%, respectively. Pre-conception health and nutrition practices are associated with anemia (p<0.05), but knowledge and attitude are not.

Abstract:Nutrition during pregnancy greatly affects the health status and development of the mother and fetus. Lack of knowledge and behavior of pregnant women about nutrition will increase the risk of mothers experiencing Chronic Energy Deficiency (CED) and anemia. In infants it will increase the risk of Low Birth Weight Babies and premature. The purpose of this study was to determine the correlation between knowledge and behavior of pregnant women in nutrition fulfillment in Aceh Besar. This type of research is quantitative with a cross-sectional study design with 10 villages selected by cluster random sampling with 83 respondents. The data collection tool is a questionnaire that has been tested for content and constructs. Data analysis using chi-square test. The results showed that there was a significant relationship between knowledge and behavior of pregnant women in fulfilling nutrition in Aceh Besar (p: 0.000). Knowledge and behavior of pregnant women in fulfilling good nutrition during pregnancy are expected to prevent maternal and fetal complications also in preventing stunting.
Validation of the minimum dietary diversity for women as a predictor of micronutrient adequacy among lactating women in Ethiopia

Abstract:Background: The Minimum Dietary Diversity for Women (MDD-W) indicator is used as a proxy indicator for assessing micronutrient adequacy among women of the reproductive age group. Variations were observed in studies, and there was also a lack of evidence regarding the performance of this proxy indicator in Ethiopia, a country with diverse dietary consumption practices. This study aimed to validate the performance of the MDD-W in predicting micronutrient intake adequacy among lactating women in Ethiopia. Methods and materials: A community-based cross-sectional study was conducted among randomly selected 457 lactating women in Northwest Ethiopia from February 2 to 18, 2023. A multistage sampling technique was used to select 457 study participants. A single multiphasic interactive 24-h dietary recall was used to collect dietary intake data. Ten food groups were used to compute the Minimum Dietary Diversity for Women, and the Mean Adequacy Ratio was used to assess nutrient intake adequacy. Spearman's rank correlation test, Cohen's kappa statistics, and ROC curve analysis were conducted. The optimal cutoff points for Minimum Dietary Diversity for Women were determined by selecting the points that maximized the Youden index. Results: MDD-W had poor positive correlation (ρ = 0.19, p < 0.001) and poor predictive ability (AUC = 0.62, 95% CI: 0.56, 0.67) (p < 0.001) with the Mean Adequacy Ratio in determining micronutrient intake adequacy. The sensitivity and specificity of the MDD-W in the ≥5 food groups standard cutoff were 25.2 and 82.3%, respectively. The optimal cutoff point for MDD-W to predict micronutrient intake adequacy was ≥3 food groups. Conclusion: Minimum Dietary Diversity for Women had a poor correlation and poor predictive ability in predicting micronutrient intake adequacy. The variations noted in studies and differences from the Food and Agriculture Organization recommendations regarding the cutoff and level of performance of MDD-W in defining micronutrient adequacy warrant further investigation.

Abstract:Background: A staggering 99% of infant undernutrition mortality comes from Sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia. Despite multiple interventions focusing on nutrition adequacy, 2.7 million children worldwide remain associated with undernutrition-related mortality. The lack of impact from multiple interventions toward undernutrition reflects a strong reason to believe that EED is the missing link that sustains undernutrition in low-to-middle-income countries (LMICs). EED is a sub-clinical condition caused by repeated oral enteropathogenic and non-pathogenic fecal microbes exposure that causes intestinal villous malformation, multi-omics changes, chronic intestinal and systemic inflammation, and gut dysbiosis. EED impacts the absorptive capacity and the integrity of the gut, causing a cycle of undernutrition in children. There is currently no protocol for the diagnosis and treatment of EED, hence EED is widely believed to be highly prevalent and underdiagnosed in LMICs. Objective: To our knowledge, this is the first systematic review to study the impact of nutritional interventions on EED. Previous studies yielded inconsistent results, hence the synthesis of this information is essential in attaining a deeper understanding of EED to formulate new targets of intervention against child undernutrition. Methods: This systematic review is registered to PROSPERO (CRD42022363157) in accordance to PRISMA, using keywords referring to nutrient supplementation, EED, and child growth failure. Results: Eleven articles were eligible for review, comprising randomized controlled trials performed mainly in the African continent, with a total of 5689 healthy children eligible for analysis. Conclusion: The systematic review illustrates that nutritional interventions have a minimal impact on EED biomarkers and linear growth and reflects the importance of understanding better the mechanisms causing EED and its consequences. It appears that the anabolic contribution of nutrition intervention to child growth is negated by EED.

Abstract:Background Low birth weight (LBW) is a major public health problem in Ethiopia. Dietary diversity is a key indicator of maternal dietary adequacy that may affect birth weight but little is known about their relationship. Hence, this study aimed to assess the association of suboptimal maternal dietary diversity during pregnancy and low birth weight in Gurage Zone, Ethiopia. Methods The prospective study was conducted among 1062 pregnant women enrolled consecutively in between 16 to 20 gestational weeks and followed until delivery. The baseline data were collected at recruitment and dietary diversity was assessed using the minimum dietary diversity score for women (MDD-W) tool in three different rounds. The average of three scores was considered to categorize women into optimal (consumed ≥ 5 food groups) and suboptimal (consumed < 5 food groups) dietary diversity groups. The risk of low birth weight among suboptimal dietary diversity was assessed using modified Poisson regression with robust standard error. Results Of the 1062 pregnant women recruited, 959 (90.4%) women completed follow-up. Among them, 302 (31.5%) women are having optimal and the rest, 657 (68.5%) women are having suboptimal dietary diversity. The risk of low birth weight was significantly higher among women with sub-optimal dietary diversity than among those with optimal diversity (ARR = 1.89, 95% CI: 1.25, 2.84). Other factors such as rural residence (ARR = 1.61, 95% CI: 1.43, 1.87), age > = 35 years (AAR = 3.94, 95% CI: 2.41, 6.46), being underweight (ARR = 1.81, 95% CI: 1.14, 2.86), height < 150cm (ARR = 4.65, 95% CI: 2.52, 8.59), unwanted pregnancy (ARR = 3.35, 95% CI: 2.23, 5.02), preterm delivery (3.65, 95% CI: 2.27, 5.84) and lack of nutritional counseling (ARR = 1.69, 95% CI: 1.08, 2.67) significantly increased the risk of low birth weight. Conclusion Suboptimal dietary diversity associated low birth weight. Promoting dietary diversity by strengthening nutritional education and avoiding unwanted pregnancy particularly among rural residents may help to reduce the incidence of low birth weight.

Abstract:The aftermath of dietary modifications made during pregnancy has the most substantial effects on nutritional status and birth results, despite the important influence of nutritional reserves. Numerous studies have been conducted on dietary practices and their determinants among pregnant women; however, there is a gap in evidence among pregnant adolescents. Therefore, this study sought to close this gap by examining dietary practices and associated factors among pregnant adolescents in the West Arsi Zone, Central Ethiopia. This community-based cross-sectional study was conducted among 459 pregnant adolescents between February and March 2023. Cluster sampling was used for selecting pregnant adolescents. Structured questionnaires were used for data collection. The data were entered into the Kobo toolbox and exported to SPSS version 25 software for analysis. Dietary diversity was assessed using the 24-h dietary recall method. Binary and multivariable logistic regression analyses were used to identify independent predictors of dietary practices. Odds ratios (ORs) with 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were estimated to identify the factors associated with the outcome variables. A p value ≤ 0.05 indicated statistical significance. The prevalence of inadequate dietary practices among the pregnant adolescents was 78.4% (95% CI 74.3%, 82.8%), and a level of nutritional knowledge [AOR = 2.4, 95% CI (1.82–4.74]; an unfavorable attitude toward dietary diversity [AOR = 4.3, 95% CI 2.9–5.83]; a food insecurity status [AOR = 8.7, 95% CI 2.37–10.24]; and a low perceived severity of poor dietary practices [AOR = 4.7, 95% CI 3.26–5.47]. These factors were significantly associated with inadequate dietary practices among pregnant adolescents. The most frequently consumed foods were starchy foods (81.3%) and pulses (79%), and the least consumed foods were meat (2.8%) and fruits (3.48%). The magnitude of inadequate dietary practices was high, and it was significantly associated with educational, behavioral, and economic status. Nutritional interventions focused on communicating nutritional behavioral changes and strengthening sustainable income-generating strategies are recommended to improve the dietary practices of pregnant adolescents.

Abstract:Adolescents is one of age groups vulnerable to nutritional status. Adolescence requires higher nutrition in order to optimize physical, cognitive and psychosocial growth. Lifestyle and diet of adolescents will affect the fulfillment of nutritional needs. Nutrition education can be carried out properly and can be received directly depending on how the message is conveyed, how the message is received and where the message is delivered. Barriers to prevention of chronic energy deficiency in adolescents can be sourced from environmental influences. Several studies The existence of significant changes in behavior in eating patterns through interventions from nutrition education can prevent Chronic Energy Deficiency (CED) in adolescents. This research aims to evaluate the impact of nutrition education on knowledge, attitudes and consumption patterns in prevention of CED in Young Girls SMPN 19 Padang Serai and SMKS Kampung Bahari, Bengkulu City. This study used quasi experiment with a two-group pre-test and post-test design. The intervention was carried out in the form of nutrition counseling using booklets or modules with a frequency of 3 meetings in 3 weeks. Nutrition education is promoting nutrition messages through education with a learning process using booklets individually and in groups using the lecture method. This study resulted an increased in knowledge, attitudes and consumption patterns after being given nutrition education in prevention of chronic energy deficiency of young women in Bengkulu City (p=0.000). There is an increase and influence between knowledge, attitudes and consumption patterns after being given adolescent nutrition education.
Prevalence and factors associated with underweight, overweight and obesity among women of reproductive age in India

Abstract:IntroductionAlthough the prevalence of underweight is declining among Indian women, the prevalence of overweight/obesity is increasing. This study examined the prevalence and factors associated with underweight and overweight/obesity among reproductive-aged (i.e., 15–49 years) women in India.MethodsThis cross-sectional study analyzed data from the 2015–16 National Family Health Survey. The Asian and World Health Organization (WHO) recommended cutoffs for body mass index (BMI) were used to categorize body weight. The Asian and WHO BMI cutoffs for combined overweight/obesity were ≥ 23 and ≥ 25 kg/m2, respectively. Both recommendations had the same cutoff for underweight, < 18.5 kg/m2. After prevalence estimation, logistic regression was applied to investigate associated factors.ResultsAmong 647,168 women, the median age and BMI was 30 years and 21.0 kg/m2, respectively. Based on the Asian cutoffs, the overall prevalence of underweight was 22.9%, overweight was 22.6%, and obesity was 10.7%, compared to 15.5% overweight and 5.1% obesity as per WHO cutoffs. The prevalence and odds of underweight were higher among young, nulliparous, contraceptive non-user, never-married, Hindu, backward castes, less educated, less wealthy, and rural women. According to both cutoffs, women who were older, ever-pregnant, ever-married, Muslims, castes other than backwards, highly educated, wealthy, and living in urban regions had higher prevalence and odds of overweight/obesity.ConclusionThe prevalence of both non-normal weight categories (i.e., underweight and overweight/obesity) was high. A large proportion of women are possibly at higher risks of cardiovascular and reproductive adverse events due to these double nutrition burdens. Implementing large-scale interventions based on these results is essential to address these issues.
