Abstract:Currently, artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), and deep learning (DL) are gaining increased interest in many fields, particularly in pharmaceutical research and development, where they assist in decision-making in complex situations. Numerous research studies and advancements have demonstrated how these computational technologies are used in various pharmaceutical research and development aspects, including drug discovery, personalized medicine, drug formulation, optimization, predictions, drug interactions, pharmacokinetics/ pharmacodynamics, quality control/quality assurance, and manufacturing processes. Using advanced modeling techniques, these computational technologies can enhance efficiency and accuracy, handle complex data, and facilitate novel discoveries within minutes. Furthermore, these technologies offer several advantages over conventional statistics. They allow for pattern recognition from complex datasets, and the models, typically developed from data-driven algorithms, can predict a given outcome (model output) from a set of features (model inputs). Abstract:Artificial Intelligence, abbreviated as AI, is described as a collection of technologies that work together to allow machines to discern, interpret, take action, and acquire knowledge with human level of intelligence. The AI domain includes technologies such as natural language processing (NLP) and machine learning (ML). Each of these is on its separate route of development and, when combined with datasets, analytics, and computerization, may assist organisations in achieving their objectives, whether it's enhancing customer service or improving supply chain. The pipeline of the development of novel drugs is quite extensive and costly apart from being complicated. On average, this entire process requires around 12 years costing approximately 2.6 billion USD. In this age of computational power, AI-based techniques are used in almost all of the steps during the process of discovering and developing drugs. AI has been able to reduce the time requirement and amount of money involved in this process thus expediting the entire procedure of new pharmaceutical inventions. In this manuscript, we have discussed some of the major applications of AI in the pharmaceutical sector. Tools that are employed to forecast the toxicity of drugs and how some of them, for example - Toxtree, ADMET, ProTox etc. have been used by researchers in the drug discovery process, have also been talked about. Further we have mentioned how AI is proving to be a powerful tool in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, for example, in the detection of the SARS-Co V -2 virus, development of vaccines, genomics etc. In addition to this, we have discussed about the manner in which the penetration of AI-based companies into the pharmaceutical field has resulted in some notable outcomes, for instance - prediction of the 3-dimensional structure of proteins by DeepMind's AlphaFold2, determination of new drug contender for kidney fibrosis by Insilico Medicine's Chemistry42 etc. Furthermore, we have stated the propitious future that AI is expected to bring about in the pharma world with a special focus on drug development.

Abstract:Through analyzing the relationships of nitrogen concentration in cotton leaf under different nitrogen supply levels with canopy multi-spectral reflectance and its derived ratio vegetation index (RVI, rholambda1/rholambda2), normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI, (rho(lambda1) - rho(lambda2))/(rho(lambda1)) + rho(lambda2)) and differential vegetation index (DVI, rho(lambda1) - rho(lambda2)), the sensitive wave bands and prediction functions of cotton leaf nitrogen concentration were worked out. The vegetation index composed of visible region (610, 660, 680 and 710 nm) and near infrared region (760, 810, 870, 950, 1 100 and 1 220 nm) had a higher correlation with the nitrogen concentration in cotton leaf, and the RVI composed of 950 nm and 710 nm could best predict the leaf nitrogen concentration. The validation with independent field experimental data indicated that RVI (950 nm and 710 nm) -based model was suitable for estimation of leaf nitrogen concentration of different cotton cultivars at their different growth stages.

AI may prepare proactive databases according to diseases, disorders, and appropriate usage of drugs which will facilitate the required data for the process of drug development. The application of AI has improved clinical trials on patient selection in a population, stratification, and sample assessment such as biomarkers, effectiveness measures, dosage selection, and trial length. Various studies suggest AI could be perform better compared to conventional techniques in drug discovery. The present review focused on the positive impact of AI in drug discovery and development processes in the pharmaceutical industry and beneficial usage in health sectors as well.

Abstract:: The advancement of computing and technology has invaded all the dimensions of science. Artificial intelligence (AI) is one core branch of Computer Science, which has percolated to all the arenas of science and technology, from core engineering to medicines. Thus, AI has found its way for application in the field of medicinal chemistry and heath care. The conventional methods of drug design have been replaced by computer-aided designs of drugs in recent times. AI is being used extensively to improve the design techniques and required time of the drugs. Additionally, the target proteins can be conveniently identified using AI, which enhances the success rate of the designed drug. The AI technology is used in each step of the drug designing procedure, which decreases the health hazards related to preclinical trials and also reduces the cost substantially. The AI is an effective tool for data mining based on the huge pharmacological data and machine learning process. Hence, AI has been used in de novo drug design, activity scoring, virtual screening and in silico evaluation in the properties (absorption, distribution, metabolism, excretion and toxicity) of a drug molecule. Various pharmaceutical companies have teamed up with AI companies for faster progress in the field of drug development, along with the healthcare system. The review covers various aspects of AI (Machine learning, Deep learning, Artificial neural networks) in drug design. It also provides a brief overview of the recent progress by the pharmaceutical companies in drug discovery by associating with different AI companies.
