Abstract:Background: Despite almost all babies being breastfed initially, the exclusive breastfeeding rate at six months is less than 30% in China. Improving professionals’ knowledge and practical skill is a key government strategy to increase breastfeeding rates. This study aimed to test the effectiveness of a breastfeeding DVD training method for clinicians on improving their knowledge and confidence in the breastfeeding support skills of teaching mothers Positioning and Attachment (P & A) and Hand Expression (HE). Methods: A randomised controlled trial was conducted in three hospitals in Zhejiang province, China in 2014. Participants were recruited before their routine breastfeeding training course and randomly allocated to intervention group (IG) and control group (CG). The 15 min “Breastfeeding: Essential Support Skills DVD” was the intervention for IG and a vaginal delivery DVD was used for CG. All participants completed questionnaires of job information, knowledge and confidence in the two skills before (baseline) and immediately after viewing the DVD (post DVD). Results: Out of 210 participants, 191 completed knowledge assessments before and after watching the DVD (IG n = 96, CG n = 95), with the response rate of 91.0%. At baseline, there are no significant differences in job variables, total knowledge scores and confident scores. The total knowledge score significantly increased post-DVD for IG (pre-DVD: M = 5.39, SD = 2.03; post-DVD: M = 7.74, SD = 1.71; t (95) = − 10.95, p < 0.01), but no significant change in total knowledge score for CG between preand post-DVD (pre-DVD: M = 5.67, SD = 1.70; post-DVD: M = 5.56, SD = 1.63; t (94) = 0.85). The total confidence scores were significantly higher post-DVD than pre-DVD in IG (pre-DVD: M = 66.49, SD = 11.27; postDVD: M = 71.81, SD = 9.33; t (68) = − 4.92, p < 0.01), but no significant difference was seen in CG between preand post-DVD total confidence scores (pre-DVD: M = 68.33, SD = 11.08; post-DVD: M = 68.35, SD = 11.40; t (65) = − 0.25). Personal and job variables did not mediate these effects. Conclusions: The breastfeeding training DVD improved professionals’ knowledge and confidence of the two breastfeeding support skills. However, the effect on professionals’ practice and on breastfeeding outcomes needs to be examined in the future.
Internet‐based support program on parenting outcomes for Chinese primiparous women: Study protocol for a randomized controlled trial

Abstract:<section class="article-section__content"><h3 class="article-section__sub-title section1"> Aim</h3><p>To evaluate the effects of internet‐based support program for primiparous women in terms of improving the levels of maternal self‐efficacy, social support, and satisfaction; and reducing their postpartum depression symptoms.</p></section><section class="article-section__content"><h3 class="article-section__sub-title section1"> Design</h3><p>A single‐blinded, multicentre, randomized, controlled, parallel‐group pre‐test and repeated post‐test design.</p></section><section class="article-section__content"><h3 class="article-section__sub-title section1"> Methods</h3><p>Based on the self‐efficacy theory and the social exchange theory, the internet‐based support program has five modules: (a) learning forum of parenting knowledge and skills; (b) communication forum; (c) ask‐the‐expert forum; (d) baby home forum; and (e) reminder forum. Primiparous women will be recruited in the obstetric wards of two university‐affiliated hospitals in China. The participants (<i>N</i> = 258) will be randomly allocated to the intervention group that receive routine care and access to the internet‐based support program and the control group that receive routine care during the 3 months postpartum. Maternal self‐efficacy, social support, and postpartum depression symptoms will be measured at baseline, immediately after the intervention (post‐test 1) and 3 months after the intervention (post‐test 2). The study was funded in January 2018 and was ethically approved in May 2020. </p></section><section class="article-section__content"><h3 class="article-section__sub-title section1"> Discussion</h3><p>If the internet‐based support program has positive outcomes, it will contribute to the scientific and practical knowledge of nursing interventions to support primiparous women on parenting; and could become the routine health care for health professionals to enhance parenting ability and mental well‐being of new mothers.</p></section><section class="article-section__content"><h3 class="article-section__sub-title section1"> Impact</h3><p>As the first RCT study on parenting outcomes using a rigorous research design and a theoretical framework in China, this research will contribute to evidence on the effectiveness of using internet platform to support women after childbirth. The effectiveness of online breastfeeding education and support program on mothers of preterm infants: A quasi-experimental study

Abstract:Objective: To develop a WeChat-mini-program-based Online breastfeeding education and support program and explore its impacts on promoting mothers of preterm infants' breastfeeding knowledge, attitudes, self-efficacy, and rates. Design, setting, and participants: This was a quasi-experimentation with two-group comparisons. The eligible preterm mother-infant pairs were recruited from the NICU within seven days postpartum. The first 25 mothers admitted to the NICU during the study period were included in the control group, and the following 25 mothers were in the intervention group according to the admission order of their preterm infants. A generalized linear mixed model was used to detect the effects of the online intervention program and the interaction effects of group and time. Interventions: The participants received a 3-month online breastfeeding intervention from a WeChat mini program for the intervention group. Measurements: Mothers of preterm infants' breastfeeding knowledge, attitudes, self-efficacy, and breastfeeding rates of different patterns were respectively evaluated by the Breastfeeding Knowledge Questionnaire (BKQ), Iowa Infant Feeding Attitude Scale (IIFAS), and Breastfeeding Self-Efficacy Scale (BSES) at three different points of times including before intervention (T0), at one month postpartum (T1) and three months postpartum (T2). Findings: The breastfeeding knowledge significantly differed between the two groups but without differences between different time points and in the grouping*time interaction. Within the intervention group, significant improvements were observed from T0 to T2 and T1 to T2. No significant differences in breastfeeding attitudes, self-efficacy, and breastfeeding rates were found between and within groups. Key conclusions: The WeChat-mini-program-based online breastfeeding intervention may improve the breastfeeding knowledge level of mothers of preterm infants but has no significant impact on mothers' breastfeeding attitudes, breastfeeding self-efficacy, and breastfeeding rates. Implications for practice: The WeChat mini program can be used to improve the breastfeeding knowledge level of mothers of preterm infants. Future interventions need to target both mothers of preterm infants and their family members by combing online and offline approaches.

Abstract:Background Many primiparous women usually encounter various parenting and mental health issues after childbirth. The effects of intervention based on internet platform on parenting and mental health outcomes for Chinese first-time mothers remain unknown during the COVID-19 pandemic. Therefore, our research aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of an internet-based support program (ISP) on maternal self-efficacy (MSE), postpartum depression (PPD) and social support for primiparous women amid the pandemic. Methods A multicenter randomized controlled trial (RCT) was conducted. From May 2020 to March 2021, 242 primiparous women were recruited in the maternity wards of two hospitals in Shenzhen City, China and randomly assigned to the intervention group and the control group. Women in control group ( n = 118) received the routine postpartum care, and women in intervention group ( n = 118) accessed to the ISP intervention (expert education and peer support) and routine postpartum care. Intervention outcomes were measured at baseline before randomization (T0), post-intervention (T1), and three-month follow up (T2) through questionnaires. The chi-square (χ 2 ), the independent sample t-test and the repeated measures multivariate analysis of covariance were performed, and the two-tailed p-value <0.05 was regarded as statistically significant. Results In comparison with women in the control group, women in the intervention group had a significantly higher score of MSE at T1 (mean: 73.53, standard deviation [SD]: 6.21) and at T2 (mean: 72.90, SD: 6.73); and a lower score of PPD at T1(mean: 6.03, SD: 2.50) and T2 (mean: 5.70, SD: 2.23); and a higher score of social support at T1 (mean: 45.70, SD: 3.73), but no significant difference at T2 (mean: 42.90, SD: 3.29). Conclusions The effect of ISP was evaluated to significantly increase the levels of MSE, social support, and to alleviate PPD symptoms for Chinese first-time mothers. As an effective and easily accessible intervention, ISP could become a significant source for health professionals to support primiparous women on parenting and mental health during the COVID-19 pandemic. Effects of the online and offline hybrid continuous group care on maternal and infant health: a randomized controlled trial

Abstract:Background: The group care is a well-established maternal care model that has been widely used in many developed countries, but in China, it is confined to prenatal care services. In addition, affected by traditional birth culture, Chinese women tend to focus more on their fetuses and newborns but lack attention to their own intrapartum and postpartum care. The aim of this study was to construct and implement a prenatal, intrapartum, and the postpartum continuous group care model that combines online and offline service in Hainan Province, China, and to evaluate the effect on maternal women and newborns. Methods: This study was a randomized controlled trial involving 144 pregnant women in a first-class tertiary general hospital in Hainan Province, China. Women were divided into an intervention group and a control group using the random number table, with 72 women in each group. The control group received routine maternal care services, and the intervention group received the continuous group care based on the routine maternal care services. Count data such as rate of cesarean section and incidence rate of fetal macrosomia were analyzed with the chi-square test or Fisher's exact test, and the General Self-efficacy Scale scores were analyzed by repeated measures ANOVA. P < 0.05 was considered statistically significant, with two-sided probability values. Results: Compared with the control group, the rate of excessive prenatal weight gain, cesarean section, and 42-day postpartum depression were significantly lower in the intervention group (P < 0.05), and higher General Self-efficacy Scale scores (in the expectant period and 42 days postpartum) and exclusive breastfeeding rate (42 days postpartum) (P < 0.05). The incidence of fetal macrosomia was significantly lower in the intervention group (P < 0.05). But there was no significant difference in birth weight, preterm birth, the incidence of low-birth-weight infants and 1-min Apgar score (P > 0.05). Conclusion: The continuous group care with online and offline service can effectively control the gestational weight gain, reduce the rate of cesarean section, macrosomia, and postpartum depression. It can improve the self-efficacy of women and the rate of exclusive breastfeeding effectively. Abstract:Background: Few breastfeeding education programs focus on primiparas and the importance of family members on exclusive breastfeeding in China. Research aim: This study aimed to explore the influence of a family-centered breastfeeding education program in promoting exclusive breastfeeding up to 6 months postpartum and to improve women’s attitude and knowledge, family members’ knowledge, and family support. Methods: This was a two-group quasi-experimental design with multiple comparisons. Participants ( N = 59) were randomized to either the intervention ( n = 29) or the control ( n = 30) group. The intervention group received two prenatal breastfeeding education lectures that included important family members, three home visits, eight telephone calls, text or video/audio support, and quality online resources during lactation. The control group received in-hospital care and follow-up by community nurses after discharge. Results: Compared with the control group, the intervention group was more likely to exclusively breastfeed in the first 6 months, odds ratio = 0.44, 95% confidence interval [0.20, 0.98]. The mean knowledge level of the intervention group improved more across time ( p < .05) and was higher than the control group ( p < .05). Perceived family support within the intervention group was significantly higher than the control group from 1 to 6 months ( p < .05). Conclusion: The breastfeeding education program is an effective strategy to promote exclusive breastfeeding in China.

Abstract:Background: Pregnant women with antenatal depression are more prone to postpartum depression and failure in breastfeeding than women without antenatal depression. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of a prenatal individualized mixed management intervention on breastfeeding and maternal physical and psychological status at three days postpartum. Methods: This randomized single-blind controlled trial was conducted from December 2017 to August 2018 with 182 primiparous women in Shanghai, China. Participants with Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS) scores >= 9 were randomly allocated to the intervention group (n = 91) or control group (n = 91). The intervention group underwent a 4-session individualized mixed management intervention and the control group received usual care. Feeding patterns, Breastfeeding Self-Efficacy Scale (BSES), Infant Breastfeeding Assessment Scale (IBAS), and EPDS were used to measure the main outcomes. Two-tailed p-values of p < .05 were considered statistically significant. Results: The intervention group had significantly more effective breastfeeding behavior, better breastfeeding self-efficacy, more successful breastfeeding initiation, lower EPDS scores, more sleep time, and better appetite than the control group. Conclusion: The prenatal individualized mixed management intervention demonstrated significant short-term improvement in breastfeeding and maternal physical and psychological health at three days postpartum.
Effectiveness of WeChat for Improving Exclusive Breastfeeding in Huzhu County China: Randomized Controlled Trial

Abstract:Background The benefits of breastfeeding for both infants and mothers have been well recognized. However, the exclusive breastfeeding rate in China is low and decreasing. Mobile technologies have rapidly developed; communication apps such as WeChat (one of the largest social networking platforms in China) are widely used and have the potential to conveniently improve health behaviors. Objective This study aimed to assess the effectiveness of using WeChat to improve breastfeeding practices. Methods This 2-arm randomized controlled trial was conducted among pregnant women from May 2019 to April 2020 in Huzhu County, Qinghai Province, China. Pregnant women were eligible to participate if they were aged 18 years or older, were 11 to 37 weeks pregnant with a singleton fetus, had no known illness that could limit breastfeeding after childbirth, used WeChat through their smartphone, and had access to the internet. A total of 344 pregnant women were recruited at baseline, with 170 in the intervention group and 174 in the control group. Women in the intervention group received breastfeeding knowledge and promotion information weekly through a WeChat official account from their third month of pregnancy to 6 months postpartum. The primary outcome of exclusive and predominant breastfeeding rate was measured 0-1 month, 2-3 months, and 4-5 months postpartum. Results At 0-1 month postpartum, the exclusive breastfeeding rate was significantly higher in the intervention group than that in the control group (81.1% vs 63.3%; odds ratio [OR] 2.75, 95% CI 1.58-4.78; P<.001). Similarly, mothers in the intervention group were more likely to provide predominantly breast milk (OR 2.77, 95% CI 1.55-4.96; P<.001) and less likely to give dairy products to their children (OR 0.40, 95% CI 0.21-0.75; P=.005). There was no statistically significant difference for exclusive breastfeeding rate 2-3 months (P=.09) and 4-5 months postpartum (P=.27), though more children in the intervention group were exclusively breastfed than those in the control group 2-3 months postpartum (intervention: 111/152, 73.0%; control: 96/152, 63.2%) and 4-5 months postpartum(intervention: 50/108, 46.3%; control: 46/109, 42.2%). Conclusions This study is the first effort to promote exclusive breastfeeding through WeChat in China, which proved to be an effective method of promoting exclusive breastfeeding in early life. WeChat health education can be used in addition to local breastfeeding promotion programs. Effect of Comprehensive Nursing Intervention Under Internet-Based WeChat Platform Education on Postoperative Recovery of Puerperae Undergoing Cesarean Section

Abstract:Objective. To explore the effect of comprehensive nursing intervention under internet-based WeChat platform education on postoperative recovery of puerperae undergoing cesarean section (C-section). Methods. A total of 96 patients undergoing C-section in our hospital from June 2018 to October 2021 were selected for the retrospective analysis and grouped according to the nursing intervention modes as follows: patients who received a routine nursing intervention were included in the control group, and patients who received comprehensive nursing intervention under internet-based WeChat platform education were included in the study group, with 48 cases each. After the intervention, the postoperative recovery of puerperae undergoing C-section and obstetrics nursing quality were scientifically assessed. Results. No statistical differences in general data between the two groups were observed ( P > 0.05 ). Compared with the control group, patients in the study group had obviously earlier initial time of lactation ( P < 0.05 ), significantly higher breast milk amount within 48 h after delivery ( P < 0.05 ), significantly earlier spontaneous urination time, anal exhaust time and off-bed activity time ( P < 0.05 ), obviously better mastery of health knowledge ( P < 0.05 ), and, in terms of SCL-90, remarkably lower total score, average total positive score, and the number of positive items and scores in dimensions, such as somatization, obsessive-compulsive, depression, anxiety, interpersonal sensibility, anger-hostility, phobic-anxiety, and paranoid ideation ( P < 0.05 ). At discharge, 3 months, and 6 months of follow-up, patients in the study group obtained significantly higher scores on quality of life than the control group ( P < 0.05 ). Conclusion. In the nursing of puerperae undergoing C-section, comprehensive nursing intervention measures based on the internet-based WeChat platform education can effectively improve the early lactation, mastery of health knowledge, and adverse emotions of puerpera and promote their postoperative recovery.

Abstract:Background Supporting women to initiate and continue breastfeeding is a global challenge. A range of breastfeeding interventions employing electronic technologies (e-technologies) are being developed, which offer different delivery modes and features over the internet; however, the impact of internet-based e-technologies on breastfeeding outcomes remains unclear. Objective This study aimed to identify the characteristics of current internet-based breastfeeding interventions employing e-technologies and investigate the effects of internet-based e-technologies on breastfeeding outcomes. Methods A systematic search was conducted in accordance with the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses guidelines in the following databases: Scopus, Web of Science, the Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews, ScienceDirect, Google Scholar, the Association for Computing Machinery, SpringerLink, and Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Xplore. Results This systematic review included 16 studies published between 2007 and 2018, with 4018 women in 8 countries. The characteristics of the interventions were grouped based on (1) mode of delivery (web-based, mobile phone apps, and computer kiosk), (2) purpose of the interventions (education and support), and (3) key strategies (monitoring and breastfeeding tracking, personalization, online discussion forum, web-based consultation, and breastfeeding station locators). Combining educational activities with web-based personalized support through discussion forums appeared to be the most effective way to improve breastfeeding outcomes and long-term exclusive breastfeeding rates. Monitoring and breastfeeding trackers appeared to be the least effective ways. Conclusions This study demonstrated a variety of internet-based e-technologies that professionals can use to promote, educate, and support breastfeeding women. Future internet-based breastfeeding interventions employing e-technologies might consider improving interaction with mothers and personalizing the content of the proposed interventions.

Abstract:Primiparous women usually experience various parenting problems after childbirth that have negative effects on the well-being of mothers and infants. Although e-Support technology could provide an innovative and easily accessible intervention approach, mobile-phone interventions remain limited for Chinese primiparous women. Therefore, a new mobile application (APP) called the “Internet-based Support Program” (“ISP”) was designed, incorporating the self-efficacy theory and the social-exchange theory for Chinese first-time mothers to improve their levels of maternal self-efficacy (MSE), social support, and satisfaction, as well as to reduce their postpartum depression symptoms. The research was conducted to develop and optimize the “ISP” APP for new mothers via a theory-, evidence-, and person-based approach. Five modules of “learning forum”, “communication forum”, “ask-the-expert forum”, “baby home forum”, and “reminder forum” were included in the APP to meet various parenting needs of first-time mothers; and its contents and functions were validated by the experts and primiparous women. The majority of participants gave positive feedback on the APP’s perceived ease of use and usefulness. The “ISP” APP was the first designed for Chinese primiparous women, and a multicenter randomized controlled trial (RCT) will be conducted to measure its effectiveness on parenting outcomes.

Abstract:Objective To explore the effect of interactive nursing of responsible family affection on the breastfeeding rate and nursing effect of primipara. Methods 280 primiparas who gave birth in our hospital from March 2020 to March 2021 were selected as research objects. According to the computer random table method was divided into control group and experimental group, with140 cases in each group. The control group was treated with traditional responsibility system. The experimental group used responsible family interactive nursing. Health knowledge, feeding and self-efficacy of the two groups were analyzed and compared. Results The health knowledge of the experimental group was significantly higher than that of the control group (P＜0.05). The breast-feeding rate of the experimental group was 84.29％, which was significantly higher than that of the control group 55.71％, (P＜0.05). After intervention, the BSES scores of the experimental group were significantly higher than those of the control group (P＜0.05). Conclusion The implementation of responsible family interactive nursing for primipara can improve the breastfeeding rate, self-efficacy and health knowledge.

Abstract:Objective To evaluate whether intervention application of theory of planned behavior (TPB)on breastfeeding of primiparas can increase exclusive breastfeeding rate and prolong breastfeeding time. Methods A total of 283 pregnant women without severe complications in production inspection chosen from a certain hospital in Shanghai were randomly divided to experimental group and control group.Their breastfeeding data were collected by questionnaires before childbirth,at the time of leaving hospital,6 weeks after childbirth, and 4 months after childbirth.Their exclusive breastfeeding rate in various stages were analyzed by Chi-squared test.Results At the time of leaving hospital,6 weeks after childbirth and 4 months after childbirth,exclusive breastfeeding rate in the intervention group were respectively 32.5%,54.5% and 58.9%,all higher than that of the control group (χ2 =1 8.62,7.07,6.86;P <0.05 ).4 months after childbirth,continued exclusive breastfeeding rate in the intervention group was 87.9%,higher than that in the control group (χ2 =3.52,P =0.038 ).Conclusions Nursing intervention based on TPB can increase exclusive breast feeding rate of primiparas in various stages,and prolong duration of breastfeeding after 4 months after childbirth.
Effect of telephone follow-up on breastfeeding behaviors of primiparous women during puperium

Abstract:Objective:To explore the effect of telephone follow-up on breastfeeding behaviors of primiparous women during puperium.Methods:Quasi-experimental research method was used to select 120 primiparous women who gave birth to single and full-term neonates from May to September in 2009,then they were divided into control group and intervention group.The women in intervention group were followed up by telephone on the first,second and fourth weeks after delivery,the methods targeting to the problems in the course of breastfeeding and mental support were provided to the women.The women in control group received conventional nursing.The status of breastfeeding was evaluated at the end of puperium.Results:A total of 100 primiparous women completed the whole study,50 women in each group,the rate of follow-up was 80%.The breastfeeding rates of the two groups in hospital were 18.0% and 18.0%,respectively,there was no significant difference between the two groups(χ2=2.79,P=0.24).At 6 weeks after delivery,the breastfeeding rates in control group and intervention group were 48.0% and 70.0%,respectively,there was significant difference between the two groups(χ2=6.17,P=0.04).Conclusion:Telephone follow up can increase the breastfeeding rate of primiparous women during puperium to a certain degree.

WeChat Continuity Nursing on Postpartum Depression and Quality of Life in Primipara Undergoing Cesarean Delivery

Abstract:Objective: To assess the effectiveness of WeChat-based continuity nursing in reducing postpartum depression and improving the quality of life among primiparous women undergoing cesarean delivery. Methods: A total of 200 patients who intended to undergo cesarean delivery in our hospital between January 2021 and January 2022 were recruited for this study, including 20 patients who refused to participate in the study and 30 patients who did not meet the criteria of this study for various reasons, and a total of 150 cases were finally included. All participants were assigned 1:1 into the control group and observation group according to the time of the first pregnancy test and the primiparous in the observation group were given WeChat continuity nursing, and the primiparous in the control group was given routine obstetric care. WeChat continuity nursing included establishment of continuity nursing team, WeChat group setup and communication, education and support, and psychological counseling and follow-up. The baseline data of all mothers were collected and recorded, and the Self-Rating Anxiety Scale (SAS) and Self-Rating Depression Scale (SDS), quality of life scores, maternal and infant complications, and the satisfaction rate of care were compared between the two groups. Results: The SAS and SDS scores of the observation group were consistently lower than those of the control group at 1, 3, and 6 months post-hospital discharge (P < .01). Following the implementation of WeChat continuity nursing intervention, patients in the observation group demonstrated significant improvements in mental health, physical function, somatic pain, vitality, and social function scores compared to the control group (P < .01). Additionally, the incidence of complications was notably lower in the observation group, including reduced rates of incisional infection, breast swelling, unclear dew, abnormal defecation among mothers, and decreased occurrence of breech redness, umbilical cord issues, eczema, and delayed umbilical cord detachment among infants (P < .05). Moreover, the satisfaction rate among patients in the observation group was significantly higher than that of the control group (95.507% vs. 84.058%) (P < .05). These findings highlight the efficacy and importance of integrating WeChat continuity nursing intervention into postpartum care practices. Conclusion: Our study strongly supports the effectiveness of WeChat continuity nursing intervention in improving postpartum mental health, reducing complications, and increasing patient satisfaction. These findings suggest the potential for integrating digital nursing interventions into standard postpartum care practices, offering personalized and accessible healthcare services. Policymakers and healthcare providers should consider adopting such interventions to optimize postpartum outcomes and enhance patient experiences.
Evaluation of an e-Learning Breastfeeding Program for Postpartum Mothers of Moderately High-Risk Newborn Infants Admitted to the Special Care Nursery

Abstract:Because of a lack of proper breastfeeding education to mothers and the visitation policy in the special care nursery, breastfeeding initiation and maintenance can be very challenging for both the mother and her infant who is admitted to the neonatal special care nursery after birth. Difficulties associated with forming initial bonds may contribute to some mothers changing their mind about their initially chosen feeding method. The aim of this quasi-experimental study was to evaluate the effectiveness of an e-learning breastfeeding program on maternal breastfeeding outcomes. Thirty-four mothers in the comparison group received routine care; 34 in the intervention group received an e-learning breastfeeding program and routine care. The program included 28 modules of different topics downloaded to a personal tablet computer. Each module elaborated on a breastfeeding issue and provided video clips to show practice steps. During the mothers' 3- to 5-day stay in the postpartum unit, they could repeatedly watch selected topics related to their situations at their own pace. After adjusting for each infant's birth weight, mothers in the intervention group had better attachment to their infants, greater perceived nurse support, and a higher exclusive breastfeeding rate than mothers in the comparison group. Using a tablet computer device to disseminate breastfeeding education is a feasible and supplemental method for postpartum mothers whose infants are in the special care nursery. Through the demonstrated situations, mothers are better prepared to understand their high-risk infants and the situations they may encounter during breastfeeding.
