The retraction has been agreed after the authors asked to correct their article. An investigation revealed several flaws and inconsistencies between results presented and experimental methods described. Thus the editors consider the conclusions of this article to be invalid. The authors were not available for a final confirmation of the retraction.

The retraction has been agreed following an investigation into concerns raised by a third party, which revealed image duplication between figure 2D of this manuscript and figure 4G of an earlier publication by different authors [1]. Mechanical activity of frog esophagus muscle in response to electrical stimulation of intramural nerves.

Abstract:Microscopic observation of intramural nerves in the frog esophagus, fixed and stained with OsO(4) and ZnI(2), revealed that nerve cell bodies and bundles connecting the nerve cell bodies formed loose and irregular networks. The nerve cell bodies were mostly lying singly in the nerve bundles, with occasional observations of two closely linked nerve cell bodies. Isolated circular and longitudinal segments of esophageal muscle were spontaneously rhythmically contractile, with a frequency of 2.2-3.0 per min. This was not altered by tetrodotoxin (TTX). In longitudinal muscle segments, transmurally applied electrical stimulation produced contractile responses which were not inhibited by atropine or guanethidine, but were reduced in amplitude by TTX, suggesting a nonadrenergic-noncholinergic (NANC) excitatory innervation in the esophagus muscle. In circular muscle segments, transmural application of brief electrical stimulation evoked two types of mechanical response: a biphasic response consisting of an initial relaxation and a following contraction (type I) and a contraction alone (type II). These mechanical responses were not modulated by either atropine or guanethidine. In the type I response, TTX abolished the relaxation component, suggesting that this was produced by non-adrenergic non-cholinergic (NANC) inhibitory nerve excitation. In about half of the type II responses, the amplitude of the contraction was significantly reduced by TTX, suggesting that a part of the contraction was produced by activation of NANC excitatory nerves. Thus, the esophageal smooth muscle of the frog demonstrates myogenic activity, and is innervated by both excitatory and inhibitory NANC nerves.

Abstract:There is an increasing demand for the measurement of trace humidity in air at levels down to a few parts in 10/sup 9/ (ppb/sub v/) at atmospheric pressure. This summary describes the development by a European collaboration of a diode laser absorption spectrometer capable of measuring trace humidity with an uncertainty of 5 ppb. The diode laser was a distributed feedback device, tuned to the 3,0,3/spl larr/2,0,2 rotation transition in the /spl nu//sub 1/+/spl nu//sub 3/ vibrational band of water vapour at 1393 nm. Two-tone frequency modulation spectroscopy (TTFMS) was chosen as it combines the advantages of being the most sensitive technique and is relatively straightforward to implement. After a number of refinements to the optical layout, TTFMS features were obtained with no observable background interference effects.

Huang, "Long Noncoding RNA UFC1 is Activated by E2F1 and Exerts Oncogenic Properties by Functioning as a CeRNA of FOXP3," Cancer Medicine 7, no. 7 (2018): 3301-3310. https://doi.org/10.1002/cam4.1556. The above article, published online on 23 May 2018 in Wiley Online Library (wileyonlinelibrary.com), has been retracted by agreement between the journal Editor-in-Chief, Stephen Tait; and John Wiley and Sons Ltd. The retraction has been agreed following an investigation into concerns raised by a third party, which revealed inappropriate duplications of image panels (Figure 3A-C, Figure 4C (HeLa-FOXP3 and GAPDH lanes) and D (FOXP3 lane)) between this and another article previously published by a different group of authors, in a different scientific context, elsewhere. Given the extent of the identified issues, the editors have lost confidence in the data presented and the article's conclusions can no longer be considered reliable. The authors have been informed of the allegations and the decision to retract but they remained unresponsive.

Abstract:Subsequently to the publication of the above paper, the authors drew to the attention of the Editorial Office that they made a couple of errors in terms of the data assembly in Figs. 2 and 4 in their paper; specifically, the Transwell assay data shown for the 'miR-320a+/FoxM1+' panel in Fig. 5D on p. 1923 also appeared as the 'ACTN/NC' data panel in Fig. 4E on the same page (Fig. 4E contained the erroneously duplicated panel). In addition, data featured in Fig. 2D of the above paper were strikingly similar to data that appeared in Fig. 6e of the following paper, published subsequently to this article, written by different authors (although a Dr Shiyue Zhao worked in the molecular biology laboratory of Harbin Medical University from 2017 to 2018, and the research collaboration was conducted with Dr Chenlong Li's research group): Li C, Zheng H, Hou W, Bao H, Xiong J, Che W, Gu Y, Sun H and Liang P: Long non-coding RNA linc00645 promotes. TGF-β-induced epithelial-mesenchymal transition by regulating miR-205-3p-ZEB1 axis in glioma. Cell Death Dis 10: 17, 2019. Finally, after having conducted an independent investigation of the data in this paper, the Editorial Office noted that one of the Petri dish images in Fig. 2C was also strikingly similar to data that appeared in Fig. 2H of the abovementioned article in the journal Cell Death & Disease . After having considered the authors' request for corrigendum, in view of the problems that were identified with the data, the Editor of Oncology Reports has decided that, owing to a lack of confidence in the presented data, the paper should instead be retracted from the journal. After having informed the authors of this decision, they accepted the decision to retract this paper. The Editor apologizes to the readership for any inconvenience caused. Abstract:Complications associated with occlusion of the internal iliac arteries are seen less commonly than those following occlusion of the external iliac arteries, because the pelvis has a good collateral circulation. This paper describes a case of severe gluteal necrosis, paraplegia and acute renal failure following an aorto-bifemoral bypass, which we believe was caused by bilateral iliac artery and pelvic collateral circulation occlusion.
