Abstract:Adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) have a negative impact on people across the lifespan, including poorer health outcomes. Data have indicated that 60% of North Carolina adults have experienced at least one ACE, while concurrently heart disease is the leading cause of death. There is a need to study the linkages between the two, and researchers and leaders should take an upstream approach to doing so.
