Abstract:Dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans (DFSP) is a rare soft tissue sarcoma characterized by an asymmetric, infiltrative growth pattern and a high risk of local recurrence. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of various imaging modalities in the assessment and management of DFSP. Nine imaging modalities were reviewed including: Ultrasound (US), High‐Frequency Doppler Ultrasound (HFUS), Computed tomography (CT), Positron emission tomography–computed tomography (PET‐CT), and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), High‐resolution‐MRI (HR‐MRI), Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy (MRS), Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT), and Dermatoscopy. Imaging is mainly used for preoperative assessment and surgical planning, not routine diagnosis. US is effective for initial evaluations, demonstrating superior ability in detecting muscle invasion and defining tumour boundaries (sensitivity – 81.8%, specificity – 100%). MRI is valuable for preoperative evaluation, surgical planning, and monitoring DFSP recurrence. It more accurately assesses tumour depth than palpation, with a sensitivity of 67% and specificity of 100%, but was inferior when compared to US. CT is utilized in cases of suspected bone involvement or pulmonary metastasis. For advanced or recurrent DFSP, PET‐CT helps manage treatment responses and imatinib therapy. Emerging technologies like MRS and OCT show potential in improving diagnostic accuracy and defining surgical margins, though more data are needed. US, MRI, and CT are the primary imaging modalities for DFSP. Emerging technologies like HR‐MRI, PET‐CT, MRS, and OCT hold promise for refining diagnostic and management strategies. Integrating multiple technologies could enhance management, particularly in atypical or aggressive cases. Further studies are required to refine imaging protocols and improve DFSP outcomes.

Realization of Clinical Diagnoses and Treatment for Dermatofibrosarcoma Protuberans

Abstract:OBJECTIVE:To emphasize the importance of correct and standardized surgical treatment on dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans (DFSP), and discuss the suitable synthesized therapy on it.METHODS:163 cases of DFSP, which were treated between January 1985 and September 2002,were submitted to a retrospective study.RESULTS:Among the 163 cases, 150 (92.0%) were treated with local excision as benign tumors before accepted to Cancer Hospital, Fudan University. 69 cases (46.0%) were approved by pathological examination to have tumor remnants after they were treated with wide excision, and 49 (71.0%) of them couldn't be found to have any tumor remnants by physical examination or B-ultrasonic examination before that operation. It was easy for the tumor to recur after excision, especially the local excision. The recurrent rate after it was 45.1%, which was much higher than the one after wide excision (5.6%). Among the 142 cases which wide excision were performed, 99 ones had excision margins >/= 3 cm and 5 of them (5.1%) developed local recurrence while 36 ones had excision margins 1 approximately 2 cm and 3 of them (8.3%) developed local failure. 46 cases (32.4%) were given skin graft, 11 cases were given flap, and 1 case had dacron mending in skin defection area. The main complications after these operations were necrosis of the skin flap (20 cases) and infection of the wound (6 cases). They could all be cured in 2 months. 17 cases were given complimentary radiotherapy with the dose range from 3275 cGy to 7000 cGy because of their recurrences for times or positive resection margins after wide excision. Only one case had wet molting after radiotherapy and 2 developed local recurrence. Among all the 163 cases, only 2 (1.2%) were dead, and 1 of them was died of metastasis of lung and liver. 2 cases got lymph node metastasis, then were given surgical treatment and still alive now. 13 cases (8.0%) were DFSP-FS with their malignancies increased. 11 of them were the recurrent ones after local excision or wide excision.CONCLUSIONS:In order to avoid misdiagnosis, it is necessary for the clinician to know much about DFSP. Once the tumor was diagnosed of DFSP after local excision, it is necessary to take wide excision. Because DFSP is a malignancy of a high recurrent rate after local excision, standardized wide excision is the key in reducing local failure. Adjuvant radiotherapy is an effective treatment for the patients with positive resection margin or the patients don't suit for surgical treatment. The DFSP-FS need to use more energetic treatment in curing it.

Abstract:Objective To investigate the performance of surgical management in facial skin malignancies.Methods From January 2000 to December 2006,65 patients with facial skin malignancies,including47 cases of basal cell carcinoma.10 cases of squamous cell carcinoma,3 cases of dermatofibrosarocoma protuberans,2 cases of malignant melanomas,and one case of malignant acanthoma,hemangioendotheliosar-coma and sebaceous carcinoma,respectively,were collected and managed with wide resection followed by reconstruction.In order to achieve a thorough resection,frozen sections were prepared and subjected to pathological examination during the operation process to ensure the margins of resection were free of malignancy.Reconstruction was carried out by direct closure,or with local random flaps,extended flaps,free skin grafts.Resuits All defects were managed by one-stage reconstruction.The survival rate of skin flaps/grafts was 100%,and a satisfactory appearance and function was achieved.During the follow-up from 6 months to 5 years,local relapse was observed in one patient with basal cell carcinoma and one with squamous eell carcinoma,lymphatic metastasis in one with squamous cell carcinoma.Distant metastasis occurred in a patient with malignant melanoma.who died consequently.Conclusions Thorough resection is the key to prevent relapse of facial skin malignancies after surgery.Appropriate reconstruction may favor the restoration of facial appearance,and local random flaps appear to be the best reconstruction strategy.
Clinical and Pathological Analysis of Dermatofibrosarcoma Protuberans with Long-Term Follow-Up.

Abstract:Background: Dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans (DFSP) is a rare dermal sarcoma characterised by low-grade malignancy, slow infiltrative growth, local recurrence and rare distant metastases. Objective: Many international studies exist on DFSP, but limited data on Asian patients are available. This article fills this gap. Methods: A retrospective and observational patient series based on records of 99 patients diagnosed with DFSP and treated with wide local excision and assessments of complete circumferential peripheral and deep margin from 2002 to 2018. The margin width, pathological characteristics and surgical methods of 99 patients were described. Follow-up outcomes of 43 patients were evaluated. Results: In total, 106 DFSP resections were performed in 99 Asian patients (mean age: 44 years, SD: 14 years). Locations of DFSP are the trunk (63%), extremities (23%), head and neck (9%) and groin (5%). The average margin width was 3.5 +/- 0.5 (SD) cm. CD34, vimentin and AOPD positivity was found in 98%, 100% and 86% of specimens, respectively. The median value of Ki67 expression was 5% +/- (range 1%+similar to 50% +). Primary closure was used for 69% of all excisions, while flaps, grafts or other closures were used for the other excision procedures. A total of 43 patients were followed up for a mean duration of 53 +/- 36 (SD) months. Six patients exhibited recurrence. The eight-year recurrence-free survival rate was 94%. Abstract:Background Dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans (DFSP) is one of the most challenging cutaneous cancers in surgical clinic practice. Excision with negative margins is essential for effective disease control. However, wide surgical margins and maximal tissue conservation are mutually exclusive. Mohs micrographic surgery conserves tissue but is time-consuming. Thus, we developed a novel specimen radiography system that can be used intraoperatively. Aims To introduce a specimen radiography system for evaluating intraoperative surgical margins in patients with dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans. Methods Since September 2017, we have treated seven biopsy-proven cases of local DFSPs via local excision with surgical margins of 2–4 cm. During operations, the operative specimens were screened using the specimen radiography system. All surgical specimens were pathologically examined intraoperatively. Results Five patients were men and two were women, of median age 36 years. The mean radiographic screening time was 9.7 ± 2.3 min. Radiographically negative margins were confirmed intraoperatively. The minimal margin width ranged from 5.0 to 35.4 mm (mean width 16.9 ± 10.4 mm). The intraoperatively negative radiographic margins were consistent with those revealed by postoperative pathology. The minimal pathological margin width ranged from 4.0 to 34.5 mm (mean 16.6 ± 10.1 mm) and was not significantly different from the intraoperative data. Limitations The sample size was small and positive or negative predictive values were not calculated. Conclusions We introduce a novel method of intraoperative surgical margin assessment for DFSP patients. It may find broad clinical and research applications during oncoplastic surgery.

Abstract:Background and Objectives Dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans (DFSP) is a low-grade malignant tumor but has high local recurrence rate. The objectives of this study were to analyze their clinicopathologic factors and review the experience of multidisciplinary treatments.Methods: A total of 260 patients who were treated between 1985 and 2006 in Fudan University Shanghai Cancer Center were evaluated. Outcomes were compared focusing on recurrence and survival. Classical DFSP and transformed DFSP were the two subtypes.Results: After local excision, 50.2% of the patients were found to have residual tumors. The recurrence rate after local excision was significantly higher than that after wide excision (45.0% vs. 8.5%, P < 0.0001). Patients undergoing wide excision with margins >= 3 cm were found to have lower recurrence rate compared with those margins 1.5-2.5 cm (5.7% vs. 13.6%, P =0.043). Compared with classical DFSPs, transformed DFSPs had significantly higher recurrence rate (34.5% vs. 6.3%, P < 0.0001), higher metastatic rate (23.5% vs. 0.4%, P < 0.0001), and worse prognosis (10-year survival rate 66.0% vs. 98.6%, P < 0.0001).Conclusions: Performing adequate initial resection is important for patients with DFSP. Once DFSP was diagnosed, wide excision with a best margin of >= 3 cm is necessary. Transformed DFSPs are more aggressive tumors which need more energetic treatments. J. Surg. Abstract:Dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans (DFSP) is a relatively uncommon malignant soft tissue tumor. Although metastasis is rare, it has significant topo‐aggressive characteristics with a high recurrence rate. The common treatment of DFSP is surgical resection. This study reported a case of a 22 years old woman who presented DFSP with single irregular red plaque in the right occipital area. The plaque is about 2 cm × 2 cm in diameter with an irregular and unclear border. In order to minimize the range of resection area, the contrast‐enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) was used to precisely identify the tumor affected area before the surgery treatment. The result shows that CEUS depicted clear structure of the tumor, which successfully helped surgeons to reduce the resection range from 3 cm to 2 cm in diameter. The tumor has been completely removed by one surgery operation only, and no relapse was found up to now. Pre‐surgery CEUS inspection of DFSP could be an effective and economical method to minimize the patient's hurts in the surgical treatment of DFSP.
[Surgical Treatment of Dermatofibrosarcoma Protuberans Using Wide Local Excision Combined with Mohs Micrographic Surgery].

Abstract:OBJECTIVE:To investigate the method and effectiveness of wide local excision combined with Mohs micrographic surgery for dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans (DFSP).METHODS:Between January 2007 and January 2010, 17 patients with DFSP were treated. There were 9 males and 8 females with an average age of 33.2 years (range, 16-55 years). The lesions were located at head and neck (2 cases), trunk (12 cases), extremity (2 cases), and perineal region (1 case). There were 6 cases of primary DFSP and 11 cases of relapsed DFSP. The lesions presented as single or multitude nodules or fusion nodules with skin withering, scar, en plaque in the center and with ill-defined margins. The diameter of lesions ranged from 0.8 to 9.7 cm (mean, 4.3 cm). No distant metastasis or lymphatic metastasis occurred in all cases. After tumors resection by wide local excision combined with Mohs micrographic surgery, the wounds were repaired by direct suture in 3 patients, skin grafting in 9 patients, and local skin flap in 5 patients.RESULTS:Wide local excision and Mohs micrographic surgery were carried out once in 13 patients, twice in 3 patients, and three times in 1 patient with an average operation time of 98.6 minutes (range, 56-219 minutes). Primary healing of wound and donor site were achieved with no necrosis of skin grafting and skin flap. All patients were followed up 8-34 months (mean, 21.7 months) with no recurrence.CONCLUSION:Wide local excision combined with Mohs micrographic surgery could treat DFSP, which has the advantages of shorter operation time, radical resection, and less injury.
Transformed Dermatofibrosarcoma Protuberans:Clinical Analysis of 34 Cases

Abstract:Objective Try to analyze the clinical and pathological characteristics in patients with transformed dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans (DFSP) and discuss the standard surgical treatment and combined treatments for them.Methods Medical charts of 34 patients with histologically confirmed transformed DFSP treated between January 1985 and December 2006 in Cancer Hospital of Fudan University were submitted to a retrospective study.Results Among the 34 cases,32 had high grade fibrosarcomatous change (DFSP-FS) and 2 had malignant fibrous histiocytoma change (DFSP-MFH).Compared with classical DFSPs,these transformed DFSPs had significantly higher recurrence rate after wide excision (P0.0001),and the sizes of the recurrent tumors were larger (P=0.009),the durations of recurrence were shorter (P=0.012).Also they had higher metastatic rate (P0.0001) and worse survival rates (P0.0001). Conclusion Transformed DFSPs are more aggressive tumors which need more active treatments.In order to reduce the local recurrence rate and decrease the degeneration into more malignancy caused by multiple local recurrences of the tumor,adequate initial resection and standard wide excision are more important for patients with transformed DFSPs.Combined treatments including adjuvant radiotherapy may be an optimal therapeutic strategy.
Machine learning-based radiomics analysis for predicting local recurrence of primary dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans after surgical treatment

Abstract:Background and purpose Dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans (DFSP) is characterized by locally invasive growth patterns and high local recurrence rates. Accurately identifying patients with high local recurrence risk may benefit patients during follow-up and has potential value for making treatment decisions. This study aimed to investigate whether machine learning-based radiomics models could accurately predict the local recurrence of primary DFSP after surgical treatment. Materials and methods This retrospective study included a total of 146 patients with DFSP who underwent MRI scans between 2010 and 2016 from two different institutions: institution 1 (n = 104) for the training set and institution 2 (n = 42) for the external test set. Three radiomics random survival forest (RSF) models were developed using MRI images. Additionally, the performance of the Ki67 index was compared with the three RSF models in the external validation set. Results The average concordance index (C-index) scores of the RSF models based on fat-saturation T2W (FS-T2W) images, fat-saturation T1W with gadolinium contrast (FS-T1W+C) images, and both FS-T2W and FS-T1W+C images from 10-fold cross-validation in the training set were 0.855 (95% CI: 0.629, 1.00), 0.873 (95% CI: 0.711, 1.00), and 0.875 (95% CI: 0.688, 1.00), respectively. In the external validation set, the C-indexes of the three trained RSF models were higher than that of the Ki67 index (0.838, 0.754, and 0.866 vs. 0.601, respectively). Conclusion Random survival forest models developed using radiomics features derived from MRI images were proven helpful for accurate prediction of local recurrence of primary DFSP after surgical treatment and showed better predicting performance than the Ki67 index.

Abstract:Objective To investigate the clinical feature and the therapeutic methods of dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans(DFSP).Methods We performed a retrospective analysis of the records of 49 patients with DFSP who were in hospital at Fujian Provincial Tumor Hospital.Results In all 49 patients,45 patients underwent wide excision,18 patients underwent wide excision plus skin grafting or local flap grafting,1 patient received radiotherapy before surgical operation.The local recurrence rate was 8.16%.2 patients died of tumor metastasis.Conclusion DFSP has high recurrence rate,it should be treated as a soft tissue tumor with low malignancy.Surgical operation is the optimal treatment and radical excision is the most important method in the first treatment.

Abstract:Dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans (DFSP) is a rare proliferative condition representing skin sarcomas which is known to locally recur yet very rarely metastasizes. Its genetic background is a reciprocal translocation t(17;22)(q22;q13) that produces COL1A1-PDGFB gene fusion. Complete resection is the primary treatment. The aim of this review is to outline the pathogenesis, diagnosis, and management of DFSP. A clear-cut distinction between low-to-moderate-grade DFSP with excellent prognosis and high-grade fibrosarcomatous DFSP with a much worse prognosis is underlined. Malignant transformation within DFSP (or high histologic grade), older age, being female, large primary tumor size (≥10 cm), narrow surgical margins of excision (<3 cm), surgical margin positivity for tumor cells, short time to recurrence, numerous recurrences, tumor that was recently rapidly enlarging, and presence of pain in the tumor have all been proposed as clinicopathological risk factors for recurrence and metastasis. A tendency for local growth and local relapses of well- and moderately differentiated DFSPs is an argument for their surgical excision, possibly combined with reconstructive surgery, even in patients of advanced age. Another main point of this review is that cases of DFSP with fibrosarcomatous transformation are a challenge and require careful medical attention. Both anatomopathological evaluation of the presence of lymphovascular space invasion and sentinel lymph node biopsy at DFSP surgery merit further study.

Abstract:Cutaneous dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans (DFSP) is a fibrohistiocytic tumor characterized by a high risk of local recurrence but a low risk of metastasis. Wide local excision (WLE) has been an important treatment option, but its clinical outcomes and safety have not been thoroughly evaluated in previous reports. The aim of this study was to determine appropriate surgical margins (deep and lateral) and prognostic factors associated with recurrence‐free survival (RFS) of DFSP. A database collected by two dermatology departments in Japan was retrospectively reviewed to identify 116 patients with DFSP who underwent complete resection with WLE between 1994 and 2021. Sixty‐one men (53%) and 55 women (47%) were included in our cohort. The primary sites of DFSP were as follows: 11 head and neck (9%); seven face (7%); 12 upper extremities (10%); 20 lower extremities (17%); and 66 trunk (57%). There were 103 cases (89%) of primary DFSP and 13 cases (11%) of recurrent DFSP. Total 10‐year RFS was 96.6%. Treatment and Prognosis of Dermatofibrosarcoma Protuberans

Abstract:Objective To investigate the treatment outcomes and prognosis of Dermatofibrosarcoma Protuberans(DFSP) treated by extensive excision.Methods We performed a retrospective analysis of the records of 216 patients with DFSP treated at our institution during January 1985 and January 2006 to evaluate the treatment outcomes and the prognostic factors.Recults All patients were treated by wide excision in which 194(89.8%) patients had negative margin,16(7.4%) patients had positive margins,and another 6 patients had close margins with distance between tumour 1mm.The 22 patients with positive or close margins received postoperative radiotherapy.5-year disease free survival in the local control group was 96.1%,which was significant higher than that in the local recurrent group(81.4%,P=0.001).6 patients developed distant metastasis.Total death rate was 2.8%.Conclusion Wide resection of DFSP with 2.5～3.5cm histological margins can obtain successful local control.Recurrent lesions tend to have more depth infiltration,leading to more positive margins and lower disease free survival.Repeated relapse may result in dedifferentiation of the tumor and increase the level of malignant,which have the potential of more distant metastases.

Abstract:To the Editor. —Subretinal abscess is an unusual clinical entity. We describe a subretinal abscess with minimal vitreous involvement in an intravenous drug abuser. Cultures of subretinal material yielded Aspergillus flavus . Report of a Case. —A 40-year-old man presented with pain of five days' duration and central visual loss in his right eye. He had previously abused intravenous cocaine. Ocular and medical history were unremarkable. General physical examination results were normal. Eye examination revealed a visual acuity of counting fingers in the right eye and 20/25 OS. There was no relative afferent pupillary defect. Slit-lamp examination of the right eye showed a hyperemic conjunctiva, fine keratic precipitates on the corneal endothelium, moderate cellular reaction in the anterior chamber, and minimal cellular reaction in the anterior vitreous. Abstract:BACKGROUND Limited information is available regarding survival outcomes and risk factors of dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans (DFSP).OBJECTIVE To investigate the clinicopathologic characteristics and survival outcomes of DFSP.MATERIALS AND METHODS The study cohort (7,567 patients) was selected from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results Program (2000-2018). Demographic and clinicopathologic variables, survival outcomes, and prognostic factors were analyzed.RESULTS A total of 5,640 (74.53%) and 1,927 (25.47%) tumors were located in the skin and soft tissue, respectively. The median follow-up duration was 92 months. Median follow-up times were similar between patients with lymph node (107 months) and distant (102 months) metastases; the median survival time of the 89 patients (1.18%) who died of DFSP was significantly short (41 months, p < .001). Independent risk factors for cancer-specific mortality included age at diagnosis, histologic grade, and tumor size. Patients with tumors =10 cm in size or histologic grade III had significantly higher DFSPspecific mortality (7.07% and 10.08%, respectively, p < .001). Tumor locations and surgical procedures did not significantly influence survival.CONCLUSION Dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans has a favorable survival prognosis, even in patients with node-positive or distant metastases. Dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans-specific mortality is significantly higher in patients with grade III or large (=10 cm) tumors.
An Algorithm for Reconstruction and Treatment

Abstract:Background: Scalp-associated cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma (cSCC) presents formidable treatment challenges, especially when it leads to full-thickness defects involving bone. Aggressive or recurring cases often demand a multidisciplinary approach. Leveraging our surgical experience and a literature review, we introduce a therapeutic algorithm to guide the selection of reconstruction methods, particularly for locally advanced lesions, furthermore showing the synergy between surgery and other therapies for comprehensive, multidisciplinary disease management. Methods: Our algorithm stems from a retrospective analysis of 202 patients undergoing scalp cSCC resection and reconstruction over a 7-year period, encompassing 243 malignancies. After rigorous risk assessment and documentation of surgical procedures, reconstruction methods were therefore related to malignancy extent, depth, and individual clinical status. Results: The documented reconstructions included 76 primary closures, 115 skin grafts, 7 dermal substitute reconstructions, 33 local flaps, 1 locoregional flap, and 1 microsurgical free flap. Patients unsuitable for surgery received radiotherapy or immunotherapy after histological confirmation. Precise analysis of tumor characteristics in terms of infiltration extent and depth guided the selection of appropriate reconstruction and treatment strategies Combining these insights with an extensive literature review enabled us to formulate our algorithm for managing scalp cSCCs. Conclusions: Effectively addressing scalp cSCC, especially in locally advanced or recurrent cases, demands a systematic approach integrating surgery, radiotherapy, and immunotherapy. Our multidisciplinary team's decision-making algorithm improved patient outcomes by offering a broader spectrum of therapeutic options that can synergistically achieve optimal results.

Abstract:Dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans (DFSP) is an extremely rare cutaneous tumor in children, marked by local aggressiveness, slow growth, high recurrence rate, and low metastatic potential. Its prevalence is often underestimated in children due to its slow growth and frequent misdiagnosis. Diagnosing DFSP can be challenging due to nonspecific symptoms. While most cases present as nodular lesions on the trunk or proximal extremities, some lesions, such as atrophic plaques or sclerotic nodular plaques, can mimic vascular malformations and confuse clinicians. Histologic and immunohistochemical studies are essential for definitive diagnosis. The treatment of choice is complete surgical resection with wide margins to reduce the risk of recurrence. We report two pediatric DFSP cases on the trunk, including one mimicking vascular malformations. Both cases had successful 4 cm margin resections, with no recurrences observed after 6 months and 2 years of follow-up, respectively. Continuous surveillance will be maintained for at least 5 years.
Oncological Outcomes of Partial thickness Calvarial Resection for Locally Advanced Scalp Malignancies

Abstract:Purpose/Objective(s) Traditionally, locally advanced scalp malignancies have been managed through composite, full-thickness calvarial resection. The aim of this study is to explore the surgical technique of partial calvarial resection for locally invasive scalp malignancies without medullary space invasion, employing a burr-down approach. This study aims to provide a comprehensive examination of its clinical applications and the postoperative oncological outcomes it yields. Materials/Methods This retrospective case series included 26 patients 18 years of age or older with a diagnosis of scalp cancer infiltrating the calvarial region and pericranium without infiltration of medullary space. All surgical procedures were performed at a tertiary medical center from 2012 to 2022. Comprehensive patient records were reviewed to gather data on demographics, prior medical/surgical history, the nature and duration of adjuvant therapy, imaging results, surgical outcomes, and postoperative oncological results. Results 26 patients with cancerous scalp lesions necessitating calvarial resection for deep margin control were identified in 22 men and 4 women. Mean age at diagnosis was 72 years. The most common histopathological diagnosis was Squamous cell carcinoma (n=15), basal cell carcinoma (n=2), melanoma (n=4), sarcoma(n=1), and non-squamous cell carcinoma skin(n=1). Partial removal of the calvarial lesions was achieved in all patients without any intraoperative complications. Twelve patients received adjuvant consisting of the following modalities: radiation (6), chemotherapy (1), immunotherapy (1), a combination of immunotherapy and radiation (2), and a combination of chemotherapy and radiotherapy (2). There were a total of 7 recurrences: local (n=3,11%), regional(n=3,11.5%), distal(n=1,3.8%). Long term local control was achieved in (n=24,88.4%) of patients. The average time from surgery to the last recorded follow-up was 19.1 months, and the average time from surgery to cancer recurrence was 15.1 months. Conclusion Partial calvarial resection represents a viable, safe, and effective surgical technique for cancerous tissue removal, reducing risks associated with full thickness calvarial resection, and enhancing soft tissue healing when compared to the established gold standard.
