Abstract:The purpose of our research is to extend the formal representation of the human mind to the concept of the complex q-rung orthopair fuzzy hypersoft set (Cq-ROFHSS), a more general hybrid theory. A great deal of imprecision and ambiguity can be captured by it, which is common in human interpretations. It provides a multiparameterized mathematical tool for the order-based fuzzy modeling of contradictory two-dimensional data, which provides a more effective way of expressing time-period problems as well as two-dimensional information within a dataset. Thus, the proposed theory combines the parametric structure of complex q-rung orthopair fuzzy sets and hypersoft sets. Through the use of the parameter q, the framework captures information beyond the limited space of complex intuitionistic fuzzy hypersoft sets and complex Pythagorean fuzzy hypersoft sets. By establishing basic set-theoretic operations, we demonstrate some of the fundamental properties of the model. To expand the mathematical toolbox in this field, Einstein and other basic operations will be introduced to complex q-rung orthopair fuzzy hypersoft values. The relationship between it and existing methods demonstrates its exceptional flexibility. The Einstein aggregation operator, score function, and accuracy function are used to develop two multi-attribute decision-making algorithms, which prioritize based on the score function and accuracy function to ideal schemes under Cq-ROFHSS, which captures subtle differences in periodically inconsistent data sets. The feasibility of the approach will be demonstrated through a case study of selected distributed control systems. The rationality of these strategies has been confirmed by comparison with mainstream technologies. Additionally, we demonstrate that these results are compatible with explicit histograms and Spearman correlation analyses. The strengths of each approach are analyzed in a comparative manner. The proposed model is then examined and compared with other theories, demonstrating its strength, validity, and flexibility.

Abstract:A useful expansion of the intuitionistic fuzzy set (IFS) for dealing with ambiguities in information is the Pythagorean fuzzy set (PFS), which is one of the most frequently used fuzzy sets in data science. Due to these circumstances, the Aczel-Alsina operations are used in this study to formulate several Pythagorean fuzzy (PF) Aczel-Alsina aggregation operators, which include the PF Aczel-Alsina weighted average (PFAAWA) operator, PF Aczel-Alsina order weighted average (PFAAOWA) operator, and PF Aczel-Alsina hybrid average (PFAAHA) operator. The distinguishing characteristics of these potential operators are studied in detail. The primary advantage of using an advanced operator is that it provides decision-makers with a more comprehensive understanding of the situation. If we compare the results of this study to those of prior strategies, we can see that the approach proposed in this study is more thorough, more precise, and more concrete. As a result, this technique makes a significant contribution to the solution of real-world problems. Eventually, the suggested operator is put into practise in order to overcome the issues related to multi-attribute decision-making under the PF data environment. A numerical example has been used to show that the suggested method is valid, useful, and effective.

Abstract:The idea of Pythagorean fuzzy sets (PFSs) has been extensively applied in various decision-making scenarios. Many of the applications of PFSs were carried out based on similarity functions. Some methods of similarity functions for PFSs (SFPFSs) cannot be trusted for a reliable interpretations in practical cases due to some of their setbacks. In this work, a new method of SFPFSs is developed with the capacity to outsmart the efficiency of the extant SFPFSs in terms of precise results and appropriately satisfying the rules of SFs. The new method is described with some results to validate the properties of SFs. In terms of practical application, we use the newly developed method of SFPFSs to discuss the relationship between the players of the Liverpool Football Club (FC) in the 2022/2023 English Premier League (EPL) season to assess their performances in their resurgent moments within the season. Using data from BBC Sport analysis (BBCSA) on the players' rating per match in a Pythagorean fuzzy setting, we establish the players' interactions, communications, passing, contributions, and performances to ascertain the high ranking players based on performances. Similarly, a comparative analyses are presented in tables to undoubtedly express the superiority of the newly developed method of SFPFSs. Due to the flexibility of the newly developed method of SFPFSs, it can be used for clustering analysis. In addition, the new method of SFPFSs can be extended to other uncertain environments other than PFSs.

Abstract:The success of any endeavor or process is heavily contingent on the ability to reconcile and satisfy balance requirements, which are often characterized by symmetry considerations. In practical applications, the primary goal of decision-making processes is to efficiently manage the symmetry or asymmetry that exists within different sources of information. In order to address this challenge, the primary aim of this study is to introduce novel Dombi operation concepts that are formulated within the framework of interval-valued Pythagorean fuzzy aggregation operators. In this study, an updated score function is presented to resolve the deficiency of the current score function in an interval-valued Pythagorean fuzzy environment. The concept of Dombi operations is used to introduce some interval-valued Pythagorean fuzzy aggregation operators, including the interval-valued Pythagorean fuzzy Dombi weighted arithmetic (IVPFDWA) operator, the interval-valued Pythagorean fuzzy Dombi ordered weighted arithmetic (IVPFDOWA) operator, the interval-valued Pythagorean fuzzy Dombi weighted geometric (IVPFDWG) operator, and the interval-valued Pythagorean fuzzy Dombi ordered weighted geometric (IVPFDOWG) operator. Moreover, the study investigates many important properties of these operators that provide new semantic meaning to the evaluation. In addition, the suggested score function and newly derived interval-valued Pythagorean fuzzy Dombi aggregation (IVPFDA) operators are successfully employed to select a subject expert in a certain institution. The proposed approach is demonstrated to be successful through empirical validation. Lastly, a comparative study is conducted to demonstrate the validity and applicability of the suggested approaches in comparison with current techniques. This research contributes to the ongoing efforts to advance the field of evaluation and decision-making by providing novel and effective tools and techniques.

Abstract:Since intuitionistic fuzzy set only deals with uncertainty but not periodicity, therefore to overcome, this situation complex intuitionistic fuzzy set is a better tool that deals with both uncertainty and periodicity. Also, Bonferroni mean operator has the advantage of considering interrelationships between parameters, but it deals with only the crisp data. Recently, to deal with fuzzy data, many extensions of Bonferroni operators have been developed. Motivated by the CIFS and BM operators, in this paper, we proposed some Dombi Bonferroni mean operators to deal with CIF information. Dombi Bonferroni mean operators are special cases of general T-conorm and T-norm, which have the advantage of good flexibility with a general parameter. We proposed the complex intuitionistic fuzzy Dombi Bonferroni mean (CIFDBM) operator, complex intuitionistic fuzzy Dombi weighted Bonferroni mean (CIFDWBM) operator, complex intuitionistic fuzzy Dombi geometric Bonferroni mean (CIFDGBM) operator, and complex intuitionistic fuzzy Dombi weighted geometric Bonferroni mean (CIFDWGBM) operator. Some properties of the developed operators are discussed in detail, and different cases are investigated. Moreover, a multicriteria group decision-making (MCGDM) method is developed based on the proposed aggregation operators. Finally, a numerical example of information security management evaluation is given in order to demonstrate the application and effectiveness of the proposed approach. A comparative study is also conducted in order to show the advantage of the developed method.

Abstract:A pythagorean fuzzy set is a generalized fuzzy structure that copes with imprecisions of real life accurately and with a larger domain. The aim of this manuscript is to develop the notion of graph for newly established concept of interval-valued Pythagorean fuzzy set. We introduced the concept of interval-valued Pythagorean fuzzy graph (IVPyFG) and discussed its related ideas with the help of examples. The significance of using interval-valued fuzzy concepts over non-interval-valued fuzzy concepts are demonstrated numerically. Further, the advantages of using the new approach over the pre-existing ideas are demonstrated with the help of numerical examples. The main goal of this article is to study three types of decision-making problems using the framework of IVPyFGs. These three problems include the problem of selection of the best university in a network of universities, a supply chain management problem and the shortest path problem. The comparison of the new approach toward these problems with existing approaches is also established.

Abstract:T-spherical fuzzy (TSF) set is a suitable technique for depicting uncertain and vague information in real-life problems because it covered the truth, abstinence, falsity, and refusal grade with a suitable characteristic that is the sum of the q -power of the truth, abstinence, and falsity grades will be contained in the unit interval. The major objective of this article is to evaluate the novel theory of interaction operational laws for TSF information. Additionally, power Bonferroni mean (PBM) operators are the combination of two existing ideas such as Bonferroni and power aggregation operator and because of this reason, they are more general than the bundle of existing ideas. Inspired by the above valuable knowledge, we derive the PBM operators based on interaction operation laws for TSF values such as the TSF interaction PBM (TSFIPBM) operator and TSF weighted interaction PBM (TSFWIPBM) operator. Some special cases and the properties of the invented techniques are also examined. Furthermore, for addressing some real-life problems, we derive the multi-attribute decision-making (MADM) method in the consideration of the presented technique to enhance the stability and supremacy of the evaluated techniques. Finally, for comparing the proposed techniques with prevailing methods, we illustrate some numerical examples to show the supremacy and effectiveness of the derived theory.

Abstract:Intelligent computing has distinct cognitive characteristics, especially when dealing with some multi-attribute group decision-making questions, it is regarded as a human behavior based on cognition. Pythagorean fuzzy set (PFS) is not only an extension of intuitionistic fuzzy set (IFS), but also can handle some fuzzy decision-making problems of multi-attribute information on a larger scale, especially some new methods have been rapidly spread and developed in decision-making science. In this paper, some defects in the existing ranking criteria for Pythagorean fuzzy numbers (PFNs) were pointed out through some counterexamples, the main reasons of these flaws are analyzed, so that all IFNs are unified into PFNs space through coordinate transformation. Secondly, a novel improved score formula and ranking method are proposed by the residual sector area (RSA) and hesitancy degree of PFNs in a geometric background, and the rationality of this ranking criterion is further demonstrated through rigorous mathematical methods, and then the fundamental properties of the score function are discussed. Finally, the superiority of the novel score function was interpreted through comparison and analysis with other existing seven score formulas, and the new score formula was applied to multi-attribute group decision-making problems through an example, and the superiority of the novel method was fully displayed. In fact, the proposed method achieves a perfect ranking of all PFNs, especially for the equivalent PFNs, it can be achieved precise comparison or ranking, which overcomes some flaws of other methods, and ending the confusion caused by the independent ranking of IFNs and PFNs.

Fuzzy logic and its application in football team ranking

Abstract:Fuzzy set theory and fuzzy logic are a highly suitable and applicable basis for developing knowledge-based systems in physical education for tasks such as the selection for athletes, the evaluation for different training approaches, the team ranking, and the real-time monitoring of sports data. In this paper, we use fuzzy set theory and apply fuzzy clustering analysis in football team ranking. Based on some certain rules, we propose four parameters to calculate fuzzy similar matrix, obtain fuzzy equivalence matrix and the ranking result for our numerical example, T 7, T 3, T 1, T 9, T 10, T 8, T 11, T 12, T 2, T 6, T 5, T 4, and investigate four parameters sensitivity analysis. The study shows that our fuzzy logic method is reliable and stable when the parameters change in certain range.

Abstract:The q-rung dual hesitant fuzzy (q-RDHF) set is famous for expressing information composed of asymmetry evaluations, because it allows for several possible evaluations in both the membership degree and non-membership degree. Compared with some existing extended fuzzy theories, the q-RDHF set is more superior and flexible because it can handle asymmetric assessments. In order to assemble the evaluation information expressed by q-RDHF elements, this paper aims to propose new operators to integrate q-RDHF elements. The partitioned Bonferroni mean (PBM) operator is well-known for its advantages in coping with the inhomogeneous relationship between asymmetry input arguments. In this paper, we combine the PBM operator with the power average operator, and propose a family of q-RDHF power PBM operators. Some theorems and special cases for the new proposed operators are discussed. Furthermore, we provide a general framework for dealing with multiple attribute decision-making (MADM) problems using the novel proposed method. To better show the calculation details, a numerical case study of the application of the proposed method in a superintendent selection problem is introduced. In addition, we utilize the proposed method to compare it with some existing methods in order to show its flexibility and superiority. The results show that our method is much more advantageous when considering flexible actual situations. Finally, the conclusion is given. The main contributions of this study are to propose an appropriate method to solve unbalanced and asymmetry information in a q-RDHF environment, and to apply it into a realistic superintendent selection problem.

Abstract:In many decision-making situations, we are not restricted to two kinds of aspects, such as membership degree or nonmembership degree, and sometimes we need to include the abstinence degree (AD). However, many fuzzy set theories fail to cover issues, such as an intuitionistic fuzzy soft set, Pythagorean fuzzy soft set and q-rung orthopair fuzzy soft set. All the above notions can only consider membership degree and a nonmembership degree in their structures. The spherical fuzzy soft set compensates for these drawbacks in its structure. Moreover, the Dombi t-norm and Dombi t-conorm are the fundamental apparatuses to generalize the basic operational laws of sum and product. Therefore, in this article, based on the dominant features of spherical fuzzy soft sets and valuable features of the Dombi t-norm and Dombi t-conorm, we initially developed the basic Dombi operational laws for spherical fuzzy soft numbers. Moreover, based on these newly developed operational laws, we introduced aggregation operators called spherical fuzzy soft Dombi average (weighted, ordered weighted, hybrid) aggregation operators. We discussed the basic properties of these aggregation operators. Additionally, we have developed a multiple criteria decision making (MCDM) approach using an explanatory example via our approach to show its effective utilization. Furthermore, a comparative study of our approach shows the superiority of our introduced notions.

Abstract:Abstract This article contributes to the advancement and evolution of outranking decision-making methodologies, with a novel essay on the ELimination and Choice Translating REality (ELECTRE) family of methods. Its primary target is to unfold the constituents and expound the implementation of the ELECTRE II method for group decision making in complex Pythagorean fuzzy framework. This results in the complex Pythagorean fuzzy ELECTRE II method. By inception, it is intrinsically superior to models using one-dimensional data. It is designed to perform the pairwise comparisons of the alternatives using the core notions of concordance, discordance and indifferent sets, which is then followed by the construction of complex Pythagorean fuzzy concordance and discordance matrices. Further, the strong and weak outranking relations are developed by the comparison of concordance and discordance indices with the concordance and discordance levels. Later, the forward, reverse and average rankings of the alternatives are computed by the dint of strong and weak outranking graphs. This methodology is supported by a case study for the selection of wastewater treatment process, and by a numerical example for the selection of the best cloud solution for a big data project. Its consistency is confirmed by an effectiveness test and comparison analysis with the Pythagorean fuzzy ELECTRE II and complex Pythagorean fuzzy ELECTRE I methods.

Abstract:Complex fuzzy soft matrices play a crucial role in various applications, including decision-making, pattern recognition, signals processing, and image processing. The main objective of this study is to introduce the unique notions of complex Pythagorean fuzzy soft matrices (CPFSMs), which provide more flexibility and accuracy in modelling uncertainty. CPFSMs incorporate Pythagorean fuzzy soft matrices, allowing for more sophisticated uncertainty modeling. The key findings of CPFSMs, specific instances, and certain fundamental set-theoretic operations and principles were covered. A set of new distance metrics between two CPFSMs has been defined. In the context of complex Pythagorean fuzzy soft sets and complex Pythagorean fuzzy soft matrices, we created a CPFS decision-making technique. Moreover, the application's numerical example and comparison analysis have been effectively demonstrated. Thus, by integrating the concepts of Pythagorean fuzzy sets, soft matrices, and complex numbers, CPFSMs provide a robust framework with membership and non-membership degrees for complex decision-making modeling and analyzing uncertain data.

Abstract:A rough set is important for the reduction of attributes of an information system, since it approximates a subset of a universal set based on some binary connection. A Pythagorean fuzzy set, on the other hand, provides specific information about the extent to which a statement is true or false. Both of these theories address various types of uncertainty and can be combined to maximize their combined advantages. In the current study, we aim to build a broader structure of fuzzy rough numbers, known as Pythagorean fuzzy rough numbers. The proposed framework addresses some of the limitations of traditional fuzzy rough numbers and provides a more practical and effective solution for dealing with uncertainty in decision-making. Our main objective is to develop a new method based on Pythagorean fuzzy rough numbers, the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP), and the Technique of Ranking by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) method. The suggested approach is tested on a case study which involves the selection of a product design concept for a new heat exchanger. The Pythagorean fuzzy rough AHP technique is implemented to assess the significance of each factor in the design process, and the Pythagorean fuzzy rough TOPSIS approach is used to rank the design concepts in order of their overall quality. The outcomes demonstrates that the suggested methodology efficiently assesses design concepts, making it helpful for the design industry in decision-making process. This study highlights the importance of integrating the AHP-TOPSIS method based on Pythagorean fuzzy rough numbers for a comprehensive evaluation of design concepts, taking into account both qualitative and quantitative factors to aid complex decision-making processes. The proposed method is thoroughly compared with some other existing decision-making methods.

Abstract:Due to insufficient information in multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) problems, the decision values given by experts are often fuzzy and uncertain. As an extension of Pythagorean fuzzy set (PFS), interval-valued Pythagorean fuzzy (IPF) set is a more effective and powerful tool to handle fuzzy information in decision problems. But, there are two key issues that needed to be solved: weights of experts in the IPF environment and IPF aggregation operators. For these issues, a two-stage MCDM method is constructed in the IPF environment. In the first stage, a novel method for determining the weights of experts is proposed by introducing IPF set (IPFS) into social networks. To do that, the concepts of trust function (TF) and trust score (TS) in the IPF environment are defined to obtain the objective weights of experts. Meanwhile, the subjective weights of experts are obtained from the number of experts. Afterward, the objective weight and subjective weight of each expert are combined to derive the weight of each expert. In the second stage, a novel weighted sum model (WSM) with novel IPF aggregation operators is constructed to rank alternatives. Considering the psychological behavior of experts, that is, self-confidence level, four IPF aggregation operators with self-confidence levels are defined, namely, the self-confidence interval-valued Pythagorean fuzzy weighted averaging (SC-IPFWA) and ordered weighted averaging (SC-IPFOWA) operator, the self-confidence interval-valued Pythagorean fuzzy weighted geometric (SC-IPFWG) and ordered weighted geometric (SC-IPFOWG) operator. Finally, a numerical case is used to verify the effectiveness of the proposed two-stage MCDM method.

Abstract:The Pythagorean fuzzy set is not only a generalization of intuitionistic fuzzy set, but also can deal with decision-making problems with multi-attribute information in a wider area. The main work of this paper is that all Pythagorean fuzzy numbers (PFNs) are mapped to a unit triangle region through compression transformation in the Pythagorean fuzzy environment, the novel distance measure, distance factor and score function are proposed and analyzed, and it is proved that the distance measure satisfies axiomatic conditions and score function meets monotonicity. Main contributions: by comparing the distance between each PFN with the smallest element (0,1) and corresponding hesitation factor, a new score function and its ranking criterion are put forward. In this paper, it is first pointed out that there are contradictions between the existing ranking approaches of PFNs and IFNs through counterexamples, and main reasons for these contradictions are analyzed. Secondly, all PFNs are mapped to the unit triangle of the first quadrant by introducing the compression transformation, and a new distance measure of PFNs is put forward according to the distance meaning in the geometric coordinate system, then it is proved that the proposed distance measure satisfies the axiomatic condition of traditional distance. Finally, the distance factor for PFNs is introduced by comparing the distance between each PFN and the smallest element (0,1), a new score formula and its ranking criterion for PFNs are given, and some properties of the distance factor and score function are obtained. Meanwhile, some advantages of the proposed ranking approach are illustrated by numerical examples, also the approach is applied to multi-attribute group decision-making with multi-attribute information.

Intelligent team formation and player selection: a data-driven approach for football coaches

Abstract:Abstract This article presents a data-driven approach called Intelligent Team Formation and Player Selection (ITFPS), aimed at assisting football coaches in making informed decisions about team formation and player selection. The proposed approach utilizes deep neural networks to evaluate the suitability of each player for different positions on the field. The problem is then formulated as finding the maximum weighted matching in a complete bipartite graph, with the objective of achieving the best possible alignment between team members and the positions designated by the coach. The Hungarian algorithm is employed to facilitate this matching process. Furthermore, the approach allows coaches to select a system of distinct representatives for each position, based on the specific qualities expected from players in a given match. The effectiveness of the approach is demonstrated through tests conducted on four teams from the 2021–2022 English Premier League. The results indicate that ITFPS produces decisions comparable to those made by successful coaches. By optimizing team formations and enabling the utilization of rotating formations, this approach not only enhances team performance but also empowers coaches to make strategic decisions while fully leveraging the potential of their players. ITFPS serves as an intelligent assistant for coaches, complementing their strategic perspectives.

Augmenting Adjusted Plus-Minus in Soccer with FIFA Ratings

Abstract:In basketball and hockey, state-of-the-art player value statistics are often variants of Adjusted Plus-Minus (APM). But APM hasn't had the same impact in soccer, since soccer games are low scoring with a low number of substitutions. In soccer, perhaps the most comprehensive player value statistics come from video games, and in particular FIFA. FIFA ratings combine the subjective evaluations of over 9000 scouts, coaches, and season-ticket holders into ratings for over 18,000 players. This paper combines FIFA ratings and APM into a single metric, which we call Augmented APM. The key idea is recasting APM into a Bayesian framework, and incorporating FIFA ratings into the prior distribution. We show that Augmented APM predicts better than both standard APM and a model using only FIFA ratings. We also show that Augmented APM decorrelates players that are highly collinear.

Abstract:Abstract In the selection of basketball players, the determination of the selection index system and the weight of each index is an important prerequisite for whether the selection is scientific or not. Only when the index system is determined and the importance of each index is sorted reasonably can it be guaranteed that the basketball tactics scoring work went smoothly. This research introduces a method of X fuzzy mathematics, called analytic hierarchy process, or AHP for short. The AHP method can be used in regional planning, resource allocation, program selection, policy analysis, conflict analysis, forecast estimation, decision research, etc. The AHP method schematises the thinking process of the human brain analysis program, which can simply, comprehensively, effectively and clearly deal with complex problems restricted by many factors; it is also a quantitative tool that can be used for the measurement of the sports evaluation system.

Abstract:OBJECTIVE To investigate the characteristics and clinical value of serum tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha) and its receptor (sTNF-R), interleukin-1beta(IL-1beta) and its receptor(IL-1R), interleukin-6(IL-6) and its receptor(IL-6R) in patients with pulmonary tuberculosis, and to evaluate their role in the immunopathogenesis of tuberculosis. METHODS The serum levels of TNF-alpha, sTNF-R Iota IL-1beta,IL-1R, IL-6 and IL-6R were measured using the sandwich ABC-ELISA method in 41 cases of active tuberculosis, 21 cases of inactive tuberculosis and 20 normal controls. The serum levels of the cytokines in 17 cases of active tuberculos is were followed. RESULTS The serum levels of TNF-alpha sTNF-RIota IL-1beta,IL-1R, IL-6 IL-6R and the TNF-alpha/sTNF-RIota ratio were significantly higher in both the active and the inactive tuberculosis groups than those in normal controls (P <0.01 approximately 0.05). The TNF-alpha sTNF-R Iota IL-1 beta, IL-1R, IL-6 IL-6R levels and the TNF-alpha/sTNF-R Iota ratio in the active tuberculosis group were significantly higher than those in the inactive tuberculosis(P <0.01 approximately 0.05). The serum levels of TNF-alpha sTNF-R Iota, IL-1beta and IL-6 and the TNF-alpha,/sTNF-R Iota ratio were significantly lower in cavernous tuberculosis than those in non- cavernous tuberculosis (P < 0.01 approximately 0.05). After 2 months' antituberculosis treatment, the serum levels of TNF-alpha,sTNF-R Iota IL-1 beta, IL-1R,IL-6, IL-6R and the TNF-alpha/sTNF-R Iota ratio in 15(15/17) cases were significantly lower than those before treatment(P < 0.01 approximately 0.05). CONCLUSIONS TNF-alpha, IL-1 beta, IL-6 and their receptors may be involved in the immunopathogenesis of tuberculosis. Measuring the serum levels of proinflammatory cytokines and their receptors may be useful in evaluating the activity, the clinical pattern, and the prognosis of the disease and monitoring the clinical effect of antituberculous therapy.
