Abstract:Background: Chronic pelvic pain (CPP) is a highly prevalent pain condition in which pelvic floor myofascial pain syndrome (MPPS) is also frequently found. Optimal treatments for CPP and MPPS are unknown. The aims of this pilot study were to investigate the effect of pelvic floor magnetic stimulation (MS) in women with MPPS. Treatment effects were compared between patients receiving MS alone, myofascial release therapy (MRT) alone, and MS + MRT. Methods: Patients were divided into three groups: MS, MRT, and MS + MRT. Questionnaires including Short-form McGill Pain Questionnaire (SF-MPQ), Pelvic Pain and Urgency/Frequency questionnaire (PUF), Female Sexual Function Index (FSFI), Hamilton Anxiety Scale (HAMA), and clinical global impression scale (CGI) were used to assess changes in subjective symptoms before and after treatment. Pelvic floor muscle function was assessed by the Modified Oxford Scale and Surface electromyography (sEMG). Pain mapping was used to locate trigger points (TPs) and to score the intensity of pain. A Visual Analog Scale (VAS) was used to measure the intensity of pain on a scale of 0 to 10. Changes in the above evaluation indexes within each group and between groups were evaluated after 5 treatment sessions and 10 treatment sessions. Results: Nineteen patients completed the treatment between November 2020 and August 2021. The SF-MPQ and PUF scores decreased significantly (p < 0.01) after treatment. The VAS score for pelvic floor tenderness also decreased significantly after 5 and 10 treatment sessions (p < 0.01). At the end of 10 sessions, the HAMA score was significantly lower than prior to treatment (p < 0.01). Conclusions: This preliminary study shows that MS is effective for the treatment of MPPS. Abstract:BACKGROUND The prominent symptoms of chronic pelvic pain syndrome (CPPS) are urogenital pain, lower urinary tract symptoms, psychological problems, and sexual dysfunction. Traditional pharmacological treatments have poor efficacy and more untoward reaction and complications. Magnetic vibration magnetoelectric therapy is a non-invasive form of physiotherapy. Nevertheless, its effectiveness in improving urinary discomfort and relieving pain in patients requires further exploration. AIM To investigate the clinical efficacy of the magnetic vibration magnetoelectric therapy instrument in the treatment of chronic prostatitis (CP)/ CPPS. METHODS Seventy patients with CP/CPPS were collected from the outpatient clinic and ward of the Department of Male Medicine, Jiangsu Province Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and were treated with magnetic vibration magnetoelectric therapy once a day for a period of 14 d. National Institutes of health-chronic prostatitis symptom index (NIH-CPSI), international index of erectile function 5 (IIEF-5), premature ejaculation diagnostic tool (PEDT), generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), patient health questionnaire, the pain catastrophizing scale (PCS) and traditional Chinese medicine syndrome (TCMS) scores were performed before and after treatment. RESULTS The total effective rate of treatment was 58.5%, and the total NIH-CPSI score, pain symptoms, voiding symptoms, quality of life, IIEF-5, PEDT, GAD, PCS and TCMS scores all decreased significantly (P < 0.05). CONCLUSION Magnetic vibration magnetotherapy is effective in improving urinary discomfort, relieving pain, improving quality of life, improving sexual dysfunction and relieving negative emotions such as anxiety in patients with CP/CPPS.

Abstract:The objective of this study was to evaluate the efficacy and factors of myofascial release therapy combined with electrical and magnetic stimulation in the treatment of chronic pelvic pain syndrome (CPPS). A total of 79 female patients diagnosed with CPPS from January 2021 to December 2022 were prospectively analyzed. Every patient received 3 weeks of treatment which included myofascial release therapy combined with electrical and magnetic stimulation. The visual analog score (VAS) of pelvic floor muscle (PFM) trigger points (TrPs) and the changes in pelvic floor surface electromyography before and after treatment were compared. Multiple linear regression was used to analyze the influencing factors of each outcome index. There were significant differences in VASs of muscle TrPs before and after treatment ( P < 0.05). For the surface electromyography of PFMs, the differences in pre-baseline rest, post-baseline rest, isometric contractions for muscle endurance evaluation, and coefficient of variation were statistically significant ( P < 0.05). Linear regression analysis showed that disease course ( X 1 ), dyspareunia ( X 5 ), and urinary incontinence ( X 6 ) were influencing factors for the decline of pre-baseline rest ( r 5 = 1.067, R 2 = 0.089), post-baseline rest ( r 1 = 0.055, r 5 = 0.99, R 2 = 0.119), VASs of ischial spine ( r 5 = 0.916, R 2 = 0.102), obturator internus ( r 5 = 0.796, r 6 = −0.703, R 2 = 0.245), and pubococcygeus ( r 5 = 0.885, R 2 = 0.149) after treatment in the CPPS group. This study confirmed that individualized myofascial release therapy combined with electrical and magnetic stimulation has significant efficacy for patients with CPPS. At the same time, it is more effective for CPPS patients with longer course of disease, dyspareunia, and without urinary incontinence.

Abstract:Objective The purpose of this meta-analysis was to investigate the effects of repetitive peripheral magnetic stimulation (rPMS) on pain intensity, functional mobility, and kinesiophobia in individuals with low back pain (LBP). Data Sources The PubMed, Physiotherapy Evidence Database (PEDro), Embase, Cochrane Library, and Web of Science databases were systematically searched from inception until November 25, 2022. Study Selection Eligible randomized controlled trials (RCTs) contained information on the population (LBP), intervention (rPMS), and outcomes (pain intensity, functional mobility, and kinesiophobia). Participants in the rPMS intervention group were compared with those in sham or other control groups. Two independent researchers searched for, screened, and qualified the articles. Data Extraction Two independent researchers extracted key information from each eligible study. The authors' names, year of publication, setting, total sample size, rPMS parameters, baseline/mean difference (MD), and 95% confidence interval (CI) were extracted using a standardized form, and the methodological quality was assessed using the PEDro score and GRADE (Grading of Recommendations, Assessment, Development, and Evaluation) system. Data Synthesis Of 733 studies identified, six RCTs ( n = 139) were included for meta-analysis. Compared with sham rPMS or other therapy, rPMS showed significant efficacy in reducing pain intensity (visual analogue scale: MD: −1.89; 95% CI: −3.32 to −0.47; P < .05; very low-quality evidence). Significant efficacy was also found in terms of functional diasbility (Oswestry Disability Index: MD: −8.39; 95% CI: −13.65 to −3.12; P < .001; low-quality evidence). However, there was no statistically significant between-group difference on the Tampa scale of kinesiophobia (MD: −1.81; 95% CI: −7.60 to 3.98; P >.05; very low-quality evidence). Conclusions This meta-analysis found very low- to low-quality evidence that rPMS can be used to reduce pain intensity and improve functional disability in individuals with LBP. However, no significant effect of rPMS on kinesiophobia was found.

The final studies included in the analysis were selected after reaching consensus with the third author.</p></section><section class="article-section__content"><h3 class="article-section__sub-title section1"> Results</h3><p>A total of 20 studies were included in the systematic review and 12 of these in the meta‐analysis. Quality assessment indicated that only eight of 17 randomized controlled trials had low risk in overall risk of bias, whereas all controlled trials had serious risk of bias. The weighted mean effect size of magnetic stimulation on quality of life, number of leakages, pad test outcomes and number of incontinence events was 1.045 (95% CI: 0.409‐1.681), ‐0.411 (95% CI: 0.178–0.643), ‐0.290 (95% CI: 0.025‐0.556) and ‐0.747 (95% CI: ‐1.122 to ‐0.372), respectively. Subgroup analysis revealed a significant difference in the type of quality of life measurement used. Sensitivity analyses revealed that a high degree of heterogeneity persisted even after omitting studies individually.</p></section><section class="article-section__content"><h3 class="article-section__sub-title section1"> Conclusions</h3><p>Extracorporeal magnetic stimulation may be effective in treating urinary incontinence and improving quality of life without major safety concerns. Abstract:Objective:To evaluate the clinical efficacy of magnetic stimulation combined with biofeedback in the treatment of pelvic floor dysfunction disease (PFD), to observe its effect on pelvic floor surface electromyography, and to provide evidence for improving the efficacy of PFD.Methods:Patients diagnosed with PFD and treated at our hospital from January 2021 to June 2022 were selected and divided into either a biofeedback group (control group) or a magnetic stimulation combined with biofeedback group (observation group) according to the patient's wish. The onset time, clinical symptom score, effective rate, and pelvic floor electromyography value of the two groups after treatment were compared.Results:A total of 134 patients were included in this study, including 73 cases in the observation group and 61 cases in the control group. The number of treatment times of the observation group and control group were 3 and 8, respectively, and the effective rates were 93.15% and 65.57%, respectively, both of which differed significantly between the two groups. Clinical symptom scores improved more significantly in the observation group than in the control group. Pelvic floor muscle strength was more significantly improved in the observation group than in the control group.Conclusion:Magnetic stimulation combined with biofeedback can shorten the time to onset of pelvic floor rehabilitation, significantly improve the symptoms of PFD, and significantly improve the strength and endurance of pelvic floor muscle, which can be used as the first choice of treatment for moderate to severe PFD. However, due to the small number of cases observed in this study and short follow-up time, multi-center controlled experimental study and long-term efficacy follow-up are still needed to confirm its value.
[Combination therapy of biofeedback with electrical stimulation for chronic prostatitis/chronic pelvic pain syndrome].

Abstract:OBJECTIVE To investigate the effect of the combination therapy of biofeedback with electrical stimulation on chronic prostatitis/chronic pelvic pain syndrome (CP/CPPS) through clinical trials. METHODS A total of 140 cases of diagnosed CP/CPPS were randomly divided into a control group (n = 20), a biofeedback group (BF, n = 40), an electrical stimulation group (ES, n = 40), and a biofeedback plus electrical stimulation group (BF + ES, n = 40). The latter three groups were treated by corresponding methods 5 times a week for 2 weeks, while the controls left untreated. After the treatment, all the patients were followed up for 30 days. The NIH chronic prostatitis symptom index (NIH-CPSI) scores and the results of uroflowmetry were obtained and compared before and after the treatment. RESULTS Compared with the control group, the scores on pain, urinary symptoms and quality of life (QOL) and the total NIH-CPSI scores were obviously decreased (P < 0.05), and the maximum flow rate (MFR) markedly improved (P < 0.05) in the BF, ES and BF + ES groups after the treatment, with significant differences between the former two and the latter one (P < 0.05), but not between the BF and ES groups (P > 0.05), nor in the control group before and after the treatment (P > 0.05). CONCLUSION The combination therapy of biofeedback with electrical stimulation has a synergistic effect on CP/CPPS by alleviating pain and urinary symptoms, improving QOL and elevating MFR.

Abstract:Background: The increased hypertonicity or activity of pelvic floor muscles can lead to chronic pelvic pain (CPP). It represents an aspecific and persistent pain with no apparent clinical reason, affecting an estimated 6% to 16% of women worldwide. This study aimed to evaluate with validated questionnaires the efficacy and the safeness of a new device that uses Top flat Magnetic Stimulation for the management of muscular hypertonia in women with CCP. Methods: All patients underwent 8 treatments with a non-invasive electromagnetic therapeutic device. The device produces a TOP Flat Magnetic Stimulation with a uniform profile so, the muscle work aims to reduce pain while also inhibiting muscle activity. The PISQ-12 questionnaire was used for the evaluation of improvements. Side effects were monitored. Results: The PISQ-12 total mean score decreases from 29,2 (±3.3) to 17 (±2). Regarding the behavioural-emotive items (1-4), a decrease from 12 (±2) to 7 (±0.9) was visible. Physical items (5-9) decrease from 10,6 (±1.8) to 6 (±1.4) and the Partner Related items (10-12) from 6,6 (±1.6) to 3,9 (±0.4). Conclusions: The device we used in this research demonstrated to be a valid solution for the treatment of chronic pelvic pain in female patients.

Comparison of clinical outcomes associated with spinal cord stimulation (SCS) or conventional medical management (CMM) for chronic pain: a systematic review and meta-analysis

Abstract:Objective: This study aims to evaluate the efficacy and safety of spinal cord stimulation (SCS) compared to conventional medical management (CMM) for patients diagnosed with chronic pain. Furthermore, the study seeks to compare the utilization of analgesics, as well as the long-term outcomes in terms of quality of life and functional capacity. Data sources: We systematically searched Cochrane Library, Web of Science, PubMed, and EMBASE for randomized controlled trials from inception up to February 2022. Review methods: Inclusion and exclusion criteria were set according to the PICOS criteria. We searched for studies in which SCS was compared with CMM alone for chronic pain. Two reviewers independently identified eligible studies and extracted data. Risk of bias assessments were performed according to Cochrane review criteria and Interventional Pain Management Techniques-quality Appraisal of Reliability and Risk of Bias Assessment (IPM-QRB) criteria. Results: The present meta-analysis comprised eight studies and included a total of 893 patients. Our findings demonstrate that spinal cord stimulation (SCS) in combination with conventional medical management (CMM) is associated with a significant reduction in visual analogue scale (VAS) pain intensity (P = 0.0005) and decreased scores on the McGill Pain Questionnaire (MPQ) (P < 0.0001). Moreover, SCS plus CMM was found to improve patients' quality of life, as evidenced by improvements in SF-36 scores (P < 0.00001), EQ-5D utility index (P = 0.008), and Oswestry Disability Index (ODI) (P < 0.00001). Based on the results of four high-quality randomized controlled trials (RCTs), the level of evidence supporting the efficacy of SCS for the treatment of painful neuropathy is graded as level I to II. In contrast, there is currently only low-level evidence to support the use of high-frequency stimulation and other chronic pain conditions, which can be attributed to a lack of sufficient randomized controlled trials. Limitations: The principal limitation of our study is the significant heterogeneity observed among the cohorts investigated. The primary source of this heterogeneity is the fact that spinal cord stimulation is indicated for the treatment of multiple chronic pain conditions. Moreover, variations in the stimulation parameters, differences among manufacturers, and the specific surgical implantation settings contribute to the increased heterogeneity observed in our analyses. To address this issue, we conducted a subgroup analysis based on specific situations and performed evidence synthesis to mitigate the potential impact of heterogeneity. These approaches allow for a more precise interpretation of the results and a more accurate evaluation of the quality of the included studies. Conclusions: SCS is an effective treatment to relieve the pain level of chronic pain, decrease analgesic usage, and increase long-term quality of life and functional capacity.
Repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation for chronic neuropathic pain in patients with bladder pain syndrome/interstitial cystitis

Abstract:AIMS: To evaluate the efficacy, safety, and tolerability of repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (rTMS) associated with standard drug therapies for neuropathic pain that does not respond to pharmacological treatment alone in patients with Bladder Pain Syndrome/Interstitial Cystitis (BPS/IC). Secondary goals were to assess the effects of rTMS on Lower Urinary Tract Symptoms (LUTS) and Quality of Life (QOL).METHODS: Fifteen patients with BPS/IC were enrolled in this randomized, double-blind, sham stimulation-controlled, crossover study. Patients were treated for 2 weeks with either real-rTMS (for five consecutive days in 20-min sessions) or sham-rTMS (for five consecutive days in 20-min sessions). After a 6-week washout period, the patients who had previously undergone real-rTMS underwent sham-rTMS, and vice versa. Patients were rated at each visit by means of questionnaires on pain, urinary disturbances, depression, and QOL.RESULTS: The statistical analysis revealed significant effects of real-rTMS, when compared with sham-rTMS, on pain (in the VAS, Functional Neuropathic Pelvic Pain, Neuropathic Pain Symptom Inventory, McGill questionnaire, and Central Sensitization Inventory), urinary LUTS (in the Overactive Bladder Questionnaire score, bladder emptying, and daily urinary frequency), and QOL (in the subscores of the SF-36 related to physical pain and to emotional status). No serious adverse events were reported during the study.CONCLUSIONS: The results of this study show that rTMS applied with an H-coil over the M1 in the area corresponding to the pelvic region in patients with BPS/IC appears to improve chronic pelvic pain (CPP) and associated urinary disorders.

Abstract:BACKGROUND: Urinary dysfunction is linked to spinal cord injury (SCI). The quality of life (QoL) declines in both neurogenic bladder impairment and non-disordered patients. OBJECTIVE: To ascertain the effectiveness of pulsed magnetic therapy on urinary impairment and QoL in individuals with traumatic incomplete SCI. METHODS: This study included forty male paraplegic subjects with neurogenic detrusor overactivity (NDO) for more than one year following incomplete SCI between T6-T12. Their ages ranged from 20 to 35 and they engaged in therapy for three months. The subjects were divided into two groups of equal size. Individuals in Group I were managed via pulsed magnetic therapy once per week plus pelvic floor training three times a week. Individuals in Group II were managed with only three times a week for pelvic floor training. All patients were examined for bladder cystometric investigations, pelvic-floor electromyography (EMG), and SF-Qualiveen questionnaire. RESULTS: There was a noteworthy increment in individuals in Group I in volume of bladder at first desire to void and maximum cystometric capacity, detrusor pressure at Qmax, and maximum flow rate. There was a momentous increment in Group I in measures of evaluation of EMG biofeedback. There was a notable rise in Group I in SF-Qualiveen questionnaire. CONCLUSION: Magnetic stimulation should be favored as beneficial adjunct to traditional therapy in the management of bladder impairment and enhancing QoL in individuals with SCI.

Abstract:Background Chronic prostatitis/chronic pelvic pain syndrome (CP/CPPS) has posed a significant burden on affected individuals and healthcare systems. While pharmacological treatments are commonly used, non-pharmacological management strategies have gained attention for their potential benefits in improving CP/CPPS symptoms. However, the comparative efficacy of these non-pharmacological interventions remains unclear. The aim of this study is to assess the comparative effectiveness of non-pharmacological interventions for CP/CPPS regarding prostatic symptoms. Method This systematic review and network meta-analysis will follow the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses guidelines. A comprehensive search will be conducted in electronic databases, including PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library and Web of Science, to identify relevant studies. Eligible studies will include randomised controlled trials investigating non-pharmacological management strategies for CP/CPPS. Two independent reviewers will screen the retrieved citations, extract data and assess the risk of bias. Data synthesis will involve performing a network meta-analysis to compare the efficacy of different non-pharmacological interventions while considering both direct and indirect evidence. Abstract:Background: The rehabilitation of central post-stroke pain (CPSP) is a complex clinical challenge, and repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) has been widely applied in the research of neurofunctional recovery following stroke. However, there is currently no reliable evidence-based medicine supporting the efficacy of rTMS in central post-stroke pain. This review aims to evaluate the effects of rTMS on central post-stroke pain. Methods: Following the PRISMA guidelines, we conducted searches on PubMed, Cochrane Library, Embase, Web of Science, CNKI, and Wan Fang Data Knowledge Service Platform. We searched for randomized controlled trials (RCTs) investigating the use of rTMS in treating central post-stroke pain, and conducted screening based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. Characteristics of the included RCTs were extracted. The heterogeneity of the trials was assessed using the I2 statistic. Meta-analysis was performed using Stata 17 software. Bias risk and methodological quality were evaluated using the Cochrane RoB 2 tool and the Pedro scale. Results: A total of six randomized controlled trials involving 288 patients met our inclusion criteria. In our analysis, rTMS was more effective in treating patients with CPSP compared to the placebo group (SMD=-1.15, 95% CI: −1.69, −0.61, P < 0.001). Furthermore, results from subgroup analysis indicated no statistically significant difference in the improvement of pain for durations exceeding 6 months when comparing rTMS to conventional treatment (SMD=-0.80, 95% CI: −1.63, 0.03, P = 0.059). Conclusion: TMS can alleviate pain in CPSP patients and improve their motor function, but its effects on depression, anxiety, and MEP-latency are not significant. We wish to undertake a randomized controlled trial (RCT) to observe the effect of high-frequency rTMS at different intensities upon CPPS.

Abstract:Mantle‐zone lymphoma (MZL) is a histologically distinctive variant of follicular lymphocytic lymphoma which is characterized by a proliferation of atypical small lymphoid cells as wide mantles around benignappearing germinal centers. Immunoperoxidase stains were performed on fixed and processed lymph nodes from four patients with MZL. Three cases were of the intermediate lymphocytic type, and one was of the small cleaved lymphocytic type. In all cases, the small lymphoid cells of the mantle zones did not stain. A monoclonal population (IgM, lambda) of plasma cells and large lymphoid cells was demonstrated predominantly in the paracortical areas in one case. In all cases, small numbers of plasma cells and large lymphoid cells in the follicle centers stained in a polyclonal pattern, confirming the benign nature of the centers. These findings suggest that follicular lymphomas of the mantle‐zone type are exceptions to the theory that follicular B‐cell lymphomas are derived from follicular center cells. Apparently, the lymphoid cells of MZL home to the mantle zones of secondary follicles, where they surround, proliferate, and eventually obliterate residual benign germinal centers. Abstract:Background: Spasticity is a common motor disorder resulting from upper motor neuron lesions. It has a serious influence on an individual's motor function and daily activity. Repetitive peripheral magnetic stimulation (rPMS) is a non-invasive and painless approach developed for therapeutic intervention in clinical rehabilitation. However, the effectiveness of this intervention on spasticity in patients with spastic paralysis remains uncertain. Objective: This study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of rPMS on spasticity, motor function, and activities of daily living in individuals with spastic paralysis. Methods: PubMed, PEDro, Embase, Cochrane Library, and Web of Science were searched for eligible papers with date up to March 31, 2022. Two independent researchers conducted study screening, data extraction, and methodological quality assessment. RCTs that explored the effects of rPMS on spasticity, motor function, and activities of daily living in patients with spastic paralysis were included for review. The Cochrane collaboration tool was used to assess methodological quality. The cumulative effects of available data were processed for a meta-analysis using Reedman software. Results: Eight studies with 297 participants were included. Most of the studies presented low to moderate risk of bias. Compared with the control group, the results showed that rPMS had a significant effect on spasticity (all spasticity outcomes: standardized mean difference [SMD] = −0.55, 95% confidence interval [CI]: −0.94 to −0.16, I 2 = 40%, and P = 0.006, Modified Ashworth Scale: mean difference [MD] = −0.48, 95% CI: −0.82 to −0.14, I 2 = 0%, and P = 0.006), motor function (Fugl–Meyer Assessment: MD = 4.17, 95% CI: 0.89 to 7.46, I 2 = 28%, and P = 0.01), and activities of daily living (Barthel Index: MD = 5.12, 95% CI: 2.58 to 7.67, I 2 = 0%, and P < 0.0001). No side effect was reported. Conclusion: The meta-analysis demonstrated that the evidence supported rPMS in improving spasticity especially for passive muscle properties evaluated with Modified Ashworth Scale/Ashworth Scale, as well as motor function and daily activity of living in individuals with spastic paralysis. Abstract:Objective To evaluate the clinical efficacy of biofeedback therapy in patients with chronic pelvic pain syndrome(CPPS).Methods 249 patients with the diagnosis of chronic pelvic pain syndrome(CPPS) were treated by pelvic floor biofeedback therapy.The efficacy was evaluated by NIH Chronic Prostatitis Symptom Index(NIH-CPSI),pain scores,voiding scores,quality of life impact and maximum flow rate(Qmax).Results After a follow-up period of 12 weeks,differences in scores(22.4±5.1 vs.7.1±3.8) of NIH-CPSI,pain scores(4.2±2.3 vs.1.9±1.6),voiding scores(7.7±2.1 vs 2.3±1.5),1ife impact(9.2±2.4 vs.2.3±1.9) and Qmax(11.5±3.2 ml/s vs.14.9±5.6 ml/s) between pre-and post-biofeedback therapy were significant(P0.05).The total improvement rate is 68.1%.Conclusion Biofeedback therapy is a safe and effective measure for treatment of CPPS.
When Two Is Better Than One: A Pilot Study on Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation Plus Muscle Vibration in Treating Chronic Pelvic Pain in Women

Abstract:Chronic pelvic pain syndrome (CPPS) affects about 4-16% of adult women, and about one-third of them require medical assistance due to severe symptoms. Repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) over the supplementary motor area (SMA) has been shown to manage pain in refractory CPPS. Focal muscle vibration (FMV) has also been reported to relieve pelvic pain. The objective of this study was to assess the feasibility and effect of rTMS coupled with FMV to reduce pain in seven adult women with refractory CPPS. This pilot, open-labeled, prospective trial examined treatment by 5 Hz rTMS over SMA and 150 Hz FMV over the perineum, suprapubic, and sacrococcygeal areas, with one daily session for five consecutive days for three weeks. We assessed tolerance and subjective pain changes (as per visual analog scale, VAS) until one month post-treatment, with a primary endpoint at day 7. No patients experienced serious adverse effects or a significant increase in pain. Six out of seven patients experienced a VAS improvement of at least 10% at T7; three of these individuals experienced a VAS improvement of more than 30%. Overall, we found a significant VAS reduction of 15 points (95% CI 8.4-21.6) at T7 (t = 6.3, p = 0.001; ES = 2.3 (1.1-3.9)). Three of the women who demonstrated a significant VAS reduction at T7 retained such VAS improvement at T30. VAS decreased by six points (95% CI 1.3-10.7) at T30 (t = 3.1, p = 0.02; ES = 1.5 (0.2-2.6)). This coupled approach seems promising for pain management in adult women with refractory CPPS and paves the way for future randomized controlled trials.
