Abstract:Objective The objective of this study was to assess how pre-transplant dialysis duration affects transplant outcomes after simultaneous pancreas-kidney transplant (SPK) in patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM). Methods Data of 6887 T1DM patients who underwent SPK transplantation between 2008 and 2018 were obtained from the Scientific Registry of Transplant Recipients database. According to pre-transplant dialysis duration, the patients were divided into the preemptive SPK, 0-2 years, 2-5 years, and >5 years dialysis groups. Kaplan-Meier survival analysis was performed to compare patient and graft survival among the groups. Univariate and multivariate Cox regression analyses were used to identify predictors of transplant outcomes. Results The mean follow-up period was 56.7 +/- 34.7 months. Compared with no dialysis or preemptive SPK, dialysis for 0-2 years was not significantly associated with patient or kidney graft survival, while long-term dialysis of 2-5 years and >5 years was significantly associated with increased risk of death and kidney graft failure. However, the duration of dialysis was not associated with pancreas graft survival. Conclusion Long-term dialysis duration before SPK transplant is an independent predictor of patient death and kidney graft failure in T1DM patients.
Influence of duration of type 1 diabetes on long-term pancreatic transplant outcomes.

Abstract:Background There are no multicenter studies on the influence of diabetes duration on pancreatic transplant outcomes. Our study aimed to determine how type 1 diabetes duration influenced survival of pancreatic grafts. Methods The data of 8,139 patients who received pancreas transplants during 2006-2015 were extracted from the Scientific Registry of Transplant Recipients database. Patients were separated into two groups according to duration of diabetes: S group (diabetes <= 20 years) and L group (>20 years). Results Compared to S group, L group were older and prone to be male, to have higher body mass index, to receive pancreas after kidney transplantation (PAK), and to be White. Patient survival was not significantly different between the two groups, but pancreatic survival was better in the L group (hazard ratio 0.88; P = 0.012). Pancreatic survival of L group was better than S group in pancreas transplant alone and simultaneous pancreas-kidney transplantation (SPK). Graft survival was not significant different between the two groups in PAK. Diabetes duration was an independent predictor of graft survival in SPK patients (hazard ratio 0.86; P = 0.012). Conclusions Diabetes duration has no influence on patient survival. However, long duration of type 1 diabetes mellitus appears to be protective against pancreatic graft loss.
The effect of diabetes mellitus on the post-transplant survival rate of liver transplant recipients with different grades of acute-on-chronic liver failure

Abstract:Objective:To investigate the effect of diabetes mellitus on the survival rate of liver transplant recipients with different grades of acute-on-chronic liver failure (ACLF) after liver transplantation.Methods:A retrospective study was carried out to investigate 1, 144 recipients with ACLF who underwent liver transplantation from January 1, 2017 to December 31, 2017 in the Scientific Registry of Transplant Recipients of American. According to whether they had diabetes before transplantation, the recipients were divided into two groups: non-diabetic group (n=927) and diabetic group (n=217). The survival rate was calculated by the Kaplan-Meier method and the survival curve was drawn, and then the log-rank test was used to compare the differences between two groups. The Cox proportional-hazards model was used to analyze the independent prognostic factors. A two-tailed P value <0.05 was considered statistically significant.Results:There were statistically significant differences in recipients′ age, body mass index (BMI), underlying liver disease, model for end-stage liver disease score, ACLF grade and postoperative hospital stay between diabetic and non-diabetic group (U/χ2=-6.290, -3.592, 76.451, -2.959, 8.150 and-2.542, all P <0.05). In terms of the donor characteristics, there was significant statistical difference in ABO blood type between the two groups (χ2=8.463, P<0.05). The proportion of recipients died from multiple organ failure after liver transplantation in the non-diabetic group (1.54%) was significantly lower than that in the diabetic group (5.16%) (χ2=8.863, P<0.05). There were no significant differences in terms of graft failure, cardio-cerebrovascular disease, hemorrhage, infection, malignant tumor and other diseases between the two groups (all P>0.05). The 1-, 2- and 3-year survival rates of ACLF1 recipients in the non-diabetic group were 93.1%, 90.5% and 88.7% by September 1, 2021, while those in the diabetic group were 93.8%, 92.2% and 92.2%, which had no statistically significance (χ2=1.021, P>0.05). The corresponding survival rates of ACLF2 recipients in non-diabetic group were 93.6%, 89.8% and 88.4% respectively, while those in diabetic group were 96.8%, 95.7% and 90.3%, which had no statistically significance (χ2=0.850, P>0.05). The corresponding survival rates of ACLF3 recipients in non-diabetic group were 91.5%, 89.2% and 87.5%, significantly better than those in diabetic group, which were 80.0%, 71.7% and 71.7% respectively (χ2=11.444, P<0.05). Multivariate analysis showed that recipient diabetes, ethnicity (African) and BMI were independent predictors of survival after liver transplantation in ACLF3 recipients (HR=2.31, 2.13 and 1.04, all P<0.05).Conclusions:Diabetes can significantly reduce the survival rates of ACLF3 recipients after liver transplantation, but it has no significant effect on ACLF1 and ACLF2 recipients. It is important to assess the diabetes status in ACLF3 recipients in the recipient selection process, in order to achieve better post-transplant survival.
Recipient obesity as a risk factor in kidney transplantation

Abstract:Background: The aim of the study was to investigate the effect of recipient obesity on the short- and long-term outcomes of patients undergoing primary kidney transplantation (KT). Patients and methods: A total of 578 patients receiving primary KT in our department between 1993 and 2017 were included in the study. Patients were divided according to their body mass index (BMI) into normal weight (BMI 18.5-24.9 kg/m2; N = 304), overweight (BMI 25-29.9 kg/m2; N = 205) and obese (BMI ≥ 30 kg/m2; N = 69) groups. Their clinicopathological characteristics, outcomes, and survival rates were analyzed retrospectively. Results: Obesity was associated with an increased rate of surgical complications such as wound infection (P < 0.001), fascial dehiscence (P = 0.023), and lymphoceles (P = 0.010). Furthermore, the hospital stay duration was significantly longer in the groups with obese patients compared to normal weight and overweight patients (normal weight: 22 days, overweight: 25 days, and obese: 33 days, respectively; P < 0.001). Multivariate analysis showed that recipient obesity (BMI ≥ 30) was an independent prognostic factor for delayed graft function (DGF) (OR 2.400; 95% CI, 1.365-4.219; P = 0.002) and postoperative surgical complications (OR 2.514; 95% CI, 1.230-5.136; P = 0.011). The mean death-censored graft survival was significantly lower in obese patients (normal weight: 16.3 ± 0.6 years, overweight: 16.3 ± 0.8 years, obese 10.8 ± 1.5 years, respectively; P = 0.001). However, when using the Cox proportional hazards model, the association between recipient obesity and death-censored renal graft failure disappeared, after adjustment for important covariates, whereas the principal independent predictors of graft loss were recipient diabetes mellitus and hypertension and kidneys from donors with expanded donor criteria. Conclusion: In conclusion, obesity increases the risk of DGF and post-operative surgical complications after primary KT. Appropriate risk-adapted information concerning this must be provided to such patients before KT. Furthermore, obesity-typical concomitant diseases seem to negatively influence graft survival and need to be considered after the transplantation of obese patients.

Abstract:Background The prevalence of obesity in older patients undergoing kidney transplantation is increasing. Older age and obesity are associated with higher risks of complications and mortality post-transplantation. The optimal management of this group of patients remains undefined. Methods We retrospectively analyzed the United Network for Organ Sharing database of adults ≥70 years of age undergoing primary kidney transplant from January 1, 2014, to December 31, 2022. We examined patient and graft survival stratified by body mass index (BMI) in 3 categories, <30 kg/m 2 , 30 to 35 kg/m 2 , and >35 kg/m 2 . We also analyzed other risk factors that impacted survival. Results A total of 14,786 patients ≥70 years underwent kidney transplantation. Of those, 9,731 patients had a BMI <30 kg/m 2 , 3,726 patients with a BMI of 30 to 35 kg/m 2 , and 1,036 patients with a BMI >35 kg/m 2 . During the study period, there was a significant increase in kidney transplants in patients ≥70 years old across all BMI groups. Overall, patient survival, death-censored graft survival, and all-cause graft survival were lower in obese patients compared with nonobese patients. Multivariable analysis showed worse patient survival and graft survival in patients with a BMI of 30 to 35 kg/m 2 , a BMI >35 kg/m 2 , a longer duration of dialysis, diabetes mellitus, and poor functional status. Conclusion Adults ≥70 years should be considered for kidney transplantation. Obesity with a BMI of 30 to 35 kg/m 2 or >35 kg/m 2 , longer duration of dialysis, diabetes, and functional status are associated with worse outcomes. Optimization of these risk factors is essential when considering these patients for transplantation.

Abstract:Background Obesity is a well-established risk factor for a decline in renal function and post-operative complications. Also, obese patients suffer worse outcomes such as higher rates of wound complications, longer hospital stays, and delayed graft function (DGF) when compared to nonobese patients. The correlation between having a high BMI and the postoperative outcomes of kidney transplantation has not been investigated yet in Saudi Arabia. There is scarce evidence that patients with obesity who have undergone kidney transplantation are devoid of any complications before, during, or after their procedure. Methodology A retrospective cross-sectional study was conducted using charts of nearly 142 patients in King Abdullah Specialist Children's Hospital in Riyadh, who had kidney transplant surgery in the organ transplantation department. All Obese patients with BMI >29.9 who underwent Kidney Transplant Surgery in King Abdulaziz Medical City from 2015 to 2022 were used. Details of hospital admissions were retrieved. Results A total of 142 patients fulfilling the inclusion criteria were included. There was a significant difference between patients regarding pre-surgical history where all cases (100%; 2) with class three obesity were hypertensive and on dialysis versus (77.8%; 21) and (70.4%; 19) of class two obesity and (86.7%; 98) and (78.8%; 89) of class one obesity cases, respectively (P = 0.041). Regarding medical history, hypertension was reported among 121 (85%), followed by dialysis (77%; 110), diabetes mellitus (DM) (52%; 74), dyslipidemia (24%; 35), endocrine diseases (15%; 22), and cardiovascular diseases (16%; 23). Considering post-transplant complications, 14.1% (20) of the study cases had DM (16.8% of obese class one, 3.7% of obese class two, and none of obese class three; P = 0.996) and urinary tract infection (UTI) among 7% (10) of the cases (6.2% of obese class one, 11.1% of obese class two, and none of obese class three; P = 0.996). All these differences according to patients' BMI were statistically insignificant. Conclusion Obese patients are more likely to experience difficult intraoperative management along with a complicated postoperative course due to numerous concomitant comorbidities. Post-transplant DM (PTDM) was the most prominent post-transplant complication followed by UTI. A remarkable reduction in serum creatinine and blood urea nitrogen (BUN) has been observed at the time of discharge and after six months compared to pre-transplant measurements.
Simultaneous Pancreas-Kidney Transplant Outcomes Stratified by Autoantibodies Status and Pretransplant Fasting C-peptide

Abstract:Backgrounds: Pancreatic beta cell function and islet autoantibodies classically distinguish types of diabetes (type 1 diabetes mellitus [DM] or type 2 DM). Here, we sought to evaluate simultaneous pancreas-kidney (SPK) transplant outcomes stratified by the presence or absence of beta cell function and autoantibodies. Methods: SPK recipients were eligible if pretransplant autoantibodies were measured against insulin, islet cell, or glutamic acid decarboxylase 65-kD isoform. Recipients were categorized as A+ or A- based on the detection of ≥1 autoantibodies. Recipients were similarly categorized on the basis of detectable pretransplant fasting C-peptide of ≥2 ng/mL (β+) or <2 ng/mL (β-). Thus, recipients were categorized into 4 groups: A+β-, A-β-, A-β+, and A+β+. Outcomes of interest were overall pancreas graft failure (non-death-censored), death-censored pancreas, or kidney graft failure (death-censored pancreas graft failure [DCGF]; kidney DCGF), composite outcomes with any of the 3 outcomes as pancreas DCGF, use of an antidiabetic agent, or hemoglobin A1c >6.5. Results: One hundred eighty-three SPK recipients were included: A+β- (n = 72), A-β- (n = 42), A-β+ (n = 49), and A+β+ (n = 20). We did not detect a statistical difference in non-death-censored pancreas graft failure for A+β- recipients compared with other groups: A-β- (adjusted hazard ratio [aHR]: 0.44; 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.14-1.42), A-β+ (aHR: 1.02; 95% CI, 0.37-2.85), and A+β+ (aHR: 0.67; 95% CI, 0.13-3.33) in adjusted analyses. Similar outcomes were observed for other outcomes. Conclusions: In SPK recipients, outcomes were similar among recipients with classic features of type 1 DM and various other types of DM.
Abdominal Panniculectomy Can Simplify Kidney Transplantation in Obese Patients

Abstract:Background: Obesity is frequently present in patients suffering from end-stage renal disease (ESRD). However, overweight kidney transplant candidates are a challenge for the transplant surgeon. Obese patients tend to develop a large abdominal panniculus after weight loss creating an area predisposed to wound-healing disorders. Due to concerns about graft survival and postoperative complications after kidney transplantation, obese patients are often refused in this selective patient cohort. The study aimed to analyze the effect of panniculectomies on postoperative complications and transplant candidacy in an interdisciplinary setting. Methods: A retrospective database review of 10 cases of abdominal panniculectomies performed in patients with ESRD prior to kidney transplantation was conducted. Results: The median body mass index was 35.2 kg/m2 (range 28.5-53.0 kg/m2) at first transplant-assessment versus 31.0 kg/m2 (range 28.0-34.4 kg/m2) at panniculectomy, and 31.6 kg/m2 (range 30.3-32.4 kg/m2) at kidney transplantation. We observed no major postoperative complications following panniculectomy and minor wound-healing complications in 2 patients. All aside from 1 patient became active transplant candidates 6 weeks after panniculectomy. No posttransplant wound complications occurred in the transplanted patients. Conclusion: Abdominal panniculectomy is feasible in patients suffering ESRD with no major postoperative complications, thus converting previously ineligible patients into kidney transplant candidates. An interdisciplinary approach is advisable in this selective patient cohort.

Abstract:Introduction: Obesity is a risk factor for significant surgical complications following kidney transplantation. We examined morphometric parameters other than the body mass index (BMI) that could predict surgical complications and determine their impact on graft survival. Materials: Kidney transplantations performed at our center between 2012 and 2019 were retrospectively evaluated. Data for visceral adipose tissue (VAT), subcutaneous adipose tissue, psoas surface, abdominal perimeter (AP), and vessel-to-skin distance (VSK) were collected from pre-transplant computed tomography (CT) scans. The primary outcome was the occurrence of surgical complications within 1 year of transplantation; the secondary outcome was graft survival. Results: We included 321 (88%) of 364 kidney transplant recipients, of which 154 (46.5%) patients experienced some form of surgical complication in the 1st year of follow-up. Univariate analysis revealed that higher VAT (P=0.004), VSK (P=0.007), and AP (P=0.01) values were potential risk factors for early postoperative morbidity. However, none of these factors were significant in the multivariate analysis. Concerning the secondary outcome, while the univariate analysis identified higher VAT (P=0.001) value as a risk factor, in the multivariate analysis only delayed graft function demonstrated a significant impact on graft survival (P=0.002). Conclusions: Although morphological parameters showed greater accuracy in predicting surgical complications in univariate analysis, these results were not significant in multivariate analysis. Moreover, these factors were not significantly associated with graft survival. Therefore, routine application of analyses based on these parameters, regardless of BMI, may not be useful.
Successful Management of New-Onset Diabetes Mellitus and Obesity with the Use of Laparoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomy after Kidney Transplantation-A Case Report.

Abstract:In kidney transplantation, obesity is associated with poorer graft survival and patient survival. Bariatric surgery may provide benefit for these patients, not only by inducing weight loss, but also via reduction of diabetes. We report a case of morbid obesity, poorly controlled new-onset diabetes mellitus, and gout after kidney transplantation that was treated with laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy 3 years after kidney transplantation. After 1 year of follow-up, 76% excessive body weight loss was attained. No complications were noted. The operation also provided total remission of diabetes and gout as well as good graft survival. Based on our experience, laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy may be a feasible treatment for obese patients after renal transplantation to help resolve obesity and control new-onset diabetes. However, the timing of operation and the long-term potential for graft and patient survivals with this operation require further study.
Impact of Donor Obesity on Graft and Recipient Survival Outcomes After Liver Transplantation: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis

Abstract:Background: The effect of donor body mass index (BMI) on liver transplantation (LT) outcomes remains unclear. Methods: A systematic search of the MEDLINE, CENTRAL, Web of Science, and bibliographic reference lists was conducted. All comparative studies evaluating the outcomes of LT in obese (BMI > 30 kg/m2) and nonobese donors (BMI < 30 kg/m2) were included, and their risk of bias was assessed using the ROBINS-I assessment tool. Patient and graft survival, acute rejection, and graft failure requiring retransplantation were evaluated as outcome parameters. A random-effects model was used for outcome synthesis. Results: We included 6 comparative studies reporting a total of 5071 liver transplant recipients from 708 obese and 4363 nonobese donors. There was no significant difference in 1-y (89.1% versus 84.0%, odds ratio [OR] 1.58; 95% CI 0.63-3.94, P = 0.33), 5-y (74.2%% versus 73.5%, OR 1.12; 95% CI 0.45-2.80, P = 0.81) graft survival, and 1-y (87.1% versus 90.3%, OR 0.71; 95% CI 0.43-1.15, P = 0.17) and 5-y (64.5% versus 71.6%, OR 0.71; 95% CI 0.49-1.05, P = 0.08) patient survival between 2 groups. Furthermore, recipients from obese and nonobese donors had a comparable risk of graft failure requiring retransplantation (OR 0.92; 95% CI 0.33-2.60, P = 0.88) or acute graft rejection (OR 0.70; 95% CI 0.45-1.11, P = 0.13). Conclusions: A meta-analysis of the best available evidence (level 2a) demonstrates that donor obesity does not seem to have a negative impact on graft or patient outcomes. The available studies might be subject to selection bias as the grafts from obese donors are usually subject to biopsy to exclude steatosis and the recipients usually belong to the low-risk group. Future research is needed to evaluate the impact of donors subgrouped by various higher BMI on graft and patient-related outcomes as well as to capture data of the discarded grafts from obese donors; hence, selection criteria for the grafts that could be used for transplantation from obese donors is identified.

We aimed to evaluate morphometric radiologic markers to predict post-operative dialysis within this population.MethodsWe conducted a retrospective study including patients with a BMI > 25 kg/m2 undergoing kidney transplantation during 5 years. Subcutaneous adipose tissue surface (SAT), visceral adipose tissue surface (VAT), and psoas surface were measured on CT scans sections. A model predictive of post-transplantation dialysis was elaborated through a multivariable logistic regression and was compared to a model including only BMI.ResultsOverall, 248 patients were included whom mean (SD) BMI and age were, respectively, 29.7 kg/m2 (3.6) and 56 years (12.7). Of them, 83 (33.5%) needed dialysis: 14 (5.7%) for primary kidney failure and 69 (27.8%) for delayed kidney function. On multivariable analysis, SAT, VAT and deceased donor were significantly associated with post-operative dialysis (respectively, OR [95%CI]:1.6 [1.1–2.6], 1.6[1.1–2.6], and 7.5 [1.6–56]). The area under the curve of this predictive model was 0.70 versus 0.64 for a BMI-based model.ConclusionHigh VAT and SAT were associated with post-transplantation dialysis. A predictive model based on these morphometrics could provide a better appreciation of graft recovery after transplantation among obese and overweight recipients. External validation is needed.

Abstract:Background: Obesity is a global epidemic that affects millions worldwide and can be a deterrent to surgical procedures in the population waiting for kidney transplantation. However, the literature on the topic is controversial. This study evaluates the impact of body mass index (BMI) on complications after renal transplantation, and identifies factors associated with major complications to develop a prognostic risk score. Methods: A correlation analysis between BMI and early and late complications was first performed, followed by a univariate and multivariate logistic regression analysis. The 302 included patients were divided into obese (BMI ≥ 30 kg/m2) and non-obese (BMI ≤ 30 kg/m2) groups. Correlation analysis showed that delayed graft function (DGF) was the only obesity-associated complication (p = 0.044). Logistic regression analysis identified female sex, age ≥ 57 years, BMI ≥ 25 and ≥30 kg/m2, previous abdominal and/or urinary system surgery, and Charlson morbidity Score ≥ 3 as risk factors for significant complications. Based on the analyzed data, we developed a nomogram and a prognostic risk score. Results: The model's area (AUC) was 0.6457 (95% IC: 0.57; 0.72). The percentage of cases correctly identified by this model retrospectively applied to the entire cohort was 73.61%. Conclusions: A high BMI seems to be associated with an increased risk of DGF, but it does not appear to be a risk factor for other complications. Using an easy-to-use model, identification, and stratification of individualized risk factors could help to identify the need for interventions and, thus, improve patient eligibility and transplant outcomes. This could also contribute to maintaining an approach with high ethical standards.

Abstract:Background Long-lasting diabetes mellitus type 1 and end-stage renal disease induce severe metabolic and immunologic deterioration. Pretransplant C-reactive protein (CRP) and albumin (ALB) levels impact kidney transplantation. We evaluated the effects of preoperative CRP, ALB, neutrophils (NEU), and platelet (PLT) counts on 1- and 5-year recipient survival after simultaneous pancreas and kidney transplantation (SPK). Methods Among 103 SPK recipients, the parameters were as follows: CRP (mean: 4.5 ± 4.97 mg/L); NEU (mean: 5.12 ± 2.13 × 10 3 /mm 3 ); PLT (mean: 244 ± 84 × 10 3 /mm 3 ); ALB (mean 4.5 ± 0.75 g/dL) were obtained before transplantation. Cox regression, uni-, multivariate analysis for 1- and 5-year survivals were performed with 95% CIs, and the area under the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve (AUC) was assessed. Results In Cox regression, ALB <3.65 g/dL significantly affected 1- and 5-year survivors with hazard ratios of 8 (95% CI, 1.5–38.28; P < .05) and 3.13 (95% CI, 1.45–6.73; P < .05), respectively. In univariate analysis, we found significantly decreased 1-year survival when PLT <180×10 3 /mm 3 , ALB 5.8×10 3 /mm 3 and CRP >2.25 mg/L with odds ratios (OR) of 6.75 (95% CI, 2.12–21.15); 4.05 (95% CI, 1.3–12.09); 2.97 (95% CI, 1.02–8.64) and 5.51 (95% CI, 1.67–18.19), respectively. Independent factors for 5-year survival were CRP, ALB, and PLT with OR of 4.72 (95% CI, 1.67–13.29), 3.31 (95% CI, 1.18–9.25), and 4.2 (95% CI, 1.39–12.68), respectively. In multivariate analysis, we built 2 models for 1-year survival. Model 1 (ALB+PLT) with ORs of 3.12 (95% CI, 0.97–10.07) and 5.55 (95% CI, 1.67–18.4); and model 2 (CRP+PLT) with ORs of 5.51 (95% CI, 1.5–17.3) and 4.3 (95% CI, 1.2–15.06), respectively. The AUC for models 1 and 2 were 0.74 and 0.759, respectively. Conclusions NEU, PLT, ALB, and CRP levels assessed before transplantation are independent factors for 1- and 5-year SPK recipient survival.

Abstract:Background: While body mass index (BMI) is the most widely used indicator as a measure of obesity factors in post-transplantation diabetes mellitus (PTDM), body composition is a more accurate measure of obesity. This study aims to investigate the effects of Computed tomography (CT)--based morphemic factors on PTDM and establish a prediction model for PTDM after kidney transplantation. Methods: The pre-transplant data and glycemic levels of kidney transplant recipients (June 2021 to July 2023) were retrospectively and prospectively collected. Univariate and multivariate analyses were conducted to analyze the relationship between morphemic factors and PTDM at one month, six months, and one year after hospital discharge. Subsequently, a one-year risk prediction model based on morphemic factors was developed. Results: The study consisted of 131 participants in the one-month group, where Hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) (p = 0.02) was identified as the risk factor for PTDM. In the six-month group, 129 participants were included, and the intermuscular adipose tissue (IMAT) area (p = 0.02) was identified as the risk factor for PTDM. The one-year group had 128 participants, and the risk factors for PTDM were identified as body mass index (BMI) (p = 0.02), HbA1c (p = 0.01), and IMAT area (p = 0.007). HbA1c (%) and IMAT area were included in the risk prediction Model for PTDM in the one-year group with AUC = 0.716 (95 % CI 0.591-0.841, p = 0.001). Conclusions: Compared to BMI and other morphemic factors, this study demonstrated that the IMAT area was the most potential predictor of PTDM. Clinical trial notation: Chictr.org (ChiCTR2300078639).
