Abstract:PURPOSEThis study aimed to investigate the efficacy and safety of transcatheter arterial chemoembolization (TACE) in combination with three-dimensional conformal radiotherapy (3D-CRT) in the treatment for locally advanced unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).METHODSFrom March 2000 to March 2009 a total of 158 patients with unresectable HCC treated and followed at our hospital were divided into TACE group (N=80) and TACE combined with 3D-CRT group (N=78). The TACE group was treated 3-6 times. In the combination group, 2-3 TACE courses were administered and 3D-CRT was performed 2 weeks after the last TACE. Three months after the end of treatment, imaging and serum AFP were carried out to assess the treatment efficacy.RESULTSThe response rates of TACE and the combination groups were 53.7% (43/80) and 71.8% (58/78) (p<0.05). The 1, 2, and 3-year survival rates of patients in the TACE and combination groups were 58.75, 36.25, 16.25%, and 78.48, 55.12 and 25.64% (p<0.05), respectively. Treatment compliance was good, with at least 2 TACE administrations for each case and at least 52 Gy for radiotherapy. In the TACE and the combination group, there were 2 and 3 cases with grade III/IV toxicity, respectively, without treatment-related death.CONCLUSION3D-CRT in combination with TACE significantly improve the therapeutic outcome in patients with locally advanced unresectable HCC, without creating severe toxicity.

Abstract:Objective To investigate the curative effect of transcatheter arterial chemoembolization (TACE) combined with percutaneous ethanol injection (PEI) for the treatment of primary hepatocellular carcinoma.Methods Sixty-one cases with primary hepatocellular carcinoma were divided into group A and group B. In group A, 34 cases were treated with TACE, and 27 cases were treated with TACE and PEI in group B.Results The complete necrosis rate of tumor, the reduction rate of tumor, and one-year death rate were 26.5%, 61.8% and 35.3%, respectively in group A, and 92.6%, 92.6% and 3.7%, respectively in group B. There were significant statistical differences between the two groups (P value were 0.000, 0.005 and 0.004, respectively).Conclusion The curative effect of TACE combined with PEI shows better results than that of TACE alone.
Clinical study on microwave ablation combined with transcatheter arterial chemoembolization in treating 46 cases of primary hepatocellular carcinoma

Abstract:Objective To explore the clinical effect of microwave ablation combined with transcatheter arterial chemoembolization(TACE) in treatment of primary hepatocellular carcinoma(PHC).Methods A total of 82 patients with PHC were randomly divided into two groups: TACE group comprised 36 patients(control group),and the other 46 were treated with combination of microwave ablation plus TACE(treatment group).Three months after treatment,the changes in the AFP level and tumor size were analyzed.The 1-,2-,and 3-year survival rates were calculated with Kaplan-Meier method and compared between the two groups.Results AFP in control and treatment groups droped from pre-treatment(479.3±96.2) μg/L and(491.2±103.1)μg/L reduced to the after treatment(115.3±49.3)μg/L and(78.1±38.9)μg/L.The 1-,2-,and 3-year survival rates were 78.3%,54.3%,34.8% in treatment group,and 61.1%,36.1%,19.4% in control group respectively(P<0.01).The treatment group did not come up with serious complication.Conclusion Compared with TACE alone,microwave ablation combined with TACE is safe and effective in treating PHC,and can achieve better results in decreasing the AFP level and improving survival rates.

Abstract:Objective: To explore the clinical efficacy and safety of transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) combined with targeted therapy for primary hepatocellular carcinoma (PHC). Methods: This was a retrospective study. Retrospective selection of 150 PHC patients admitted to the Renmin Hospital, Hubei University of Medicine January 2019 and June 2021 were included. The patients were divided into the control group and the experimental group according to their treatment regimens. The control group received TACE treatment, while the experimental group received TACE combined with targeted therapy. We analyze the relevant data of two groups of patients and evaluate the clinical efficacy and safety of TACE combined with targeted therapy. Results: The tumor remission rate and control rate in the control group were 41.89% and 75.68%, respectively, while those in the experimental group were 77.63% and 90.79%, with statistically significant differences (p<0.05). The 1-year and 3-year recurrence rates in the control group were 52.71% and 98.65%, respectively, while those in the experimental group were 39.47% and 61.84%, with statistically significant differences (p<0.05). After treatment, the AFP, VEGF, ALT, and AST in the experimental group were significantly reduced compared to the control group (p<0.05). During the treatment period, the incidence and severity of nausea, vomiting, and fever in the experimental group were significantly lower than those in the control group (p<0.05). Conclusion: The clinical efficacy of TACE combined with targeted therapy for PHC is superior to that of TACE alone, with improved disease control rate, improved long-term survival rate, and good safety.
Systemic Chemotherapy Improves Outcome of Hepatocellular Carcinoma Patients Treated with Transarterial Chemoembolization

Abstract:Background Transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) based neoadjuvant therapy was proven effective in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Recently, tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) and immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) also showed promise in HCC treatment. However, the prognostic benefits associated with these treatments remain uncertain. This study aimed to explore the relationship between pathologic response and prognostic features in HCC patients who received neoadjuvant therapy. Methods HCC patients who received TACE either with or without TKIs/ICIs as neoadjuvant therapy before liver resection were retrospectively collected from the First Affiliated Hospital, Zhejiang University School of Medicine in China. Pathologic response was determined by calculating the proportion of non-viable area within the tumor. Major pathologic response (MPR) was defined as the presence of non-viable tumor cells reaching a minimum of 90%. Complete pathologic response (CPR) was characterized by the absence of viable cells observed in the tumor. Results A total of 481 patients meeting the inclusion criteria were enrolled, with 76 patients (15.8%) achieving CPR and 179 (37.2%) reaching MPR. The median recurrence-free survival (mRFS) in the CPR + MPR group was significantly higher than the non-MPR group (31.3 vs. 25.1 months). The difference in 3-year overall survival (OS) rate was insignificant (90.2% vs. 87.6%). Multivariate Cox regression analysis identified failure to achieve MPR (hazard ratio = 1.548, 95% confidence interval: 1.122-2.134; P = 0.008), HBsAg positivity (HR = 1.818, 95% CI: 1.062-3.115, P = 0.030), multiple lesions (HR = 2.278, 95% CI: 1.621-3.195, P < 0.001), and baseline tumor size > 5 cm (HR = 1.712, 95% CI: 1.031-2.849, P = 0.038) were independent risk factors for RFS. Subgroup analysis showed that 67 of 93 (72.0%) patients who received the combination of TACE, TKIs, and ICIs achieved MPR + CPR. Conclusions In individuals who received TACE-based neoadjuvant therapy for HCC, failure to achieve MPR emerges as an independent risk factor for RFS. Notably, the combination of TACE, TKIs, and ICIs demonstrated the highest rate of MPR.

Abstract:BACKGROUND:This study was designed to evaluate the effectiveness of radiofrequency ablation in patients with intermediate (BCLC B) stage hepatocellular carcinoma who underwent transcatheter arterial chemoembolization.METHODS:Included in this study were 211 patients with intermediate stage HCC who underwent initial transcatheter arterial chemoembolization and were potentially amendable for radiofrequency ablation (single tumor with diameter 5-8 cm, median 6.0 cm; 2-5 multiple nodules with diameter less than 5 cm) between January 2005 and December 2011. According to the inclusion and exclusion criteria, 55 patients were treated with following radiofrequency ablation, and the remaining 156 patients were treated with transcatheter arterial chemoembolization alone. The treatment effectiveness, local tumor control and survival outcome between the two groups were compared.RESULTS:The complete tumor necrosis rate after treatment was 76.9% in combination group vs. 46.5% in transcatheter arterial chemoembolization alone group (P = 0.02). The major complication rate was 1.8% in combination group vs. 2.6% in transcatheter arterial chemoembolization alone group. Follow-up observation showed that the total tumor control rate was 74.5% in combination group versus 54.5% in transcatheter arterial chemoembolization alone group (P < 0.001). The 1-, 3- and 5-year survival rates in combination group were significantly higher than those in TACE alone group (P = 0.01).CONCLUSIONS:Radiofrequency ablation following initial transcatheter arterial chemoembolization delays tumor progression and prolongs overall survival of patients with intermediate stage HCC tumors.

Abstract:Aim: This study assesses the effectiveness of combining transcatheter arterial chemoembolization (TACE) and radiofrequency ablation (RFA) in treating hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Methods: Retrospective analysis of 125 HCC patients treated from 2020 to 2021, divided into two groups: monotherapy using TACE (n = 63), and a combined approach of RFA and TACE (n = 62). Comparison factors included clinical efficacy, liver function, tumor markers, complications, quality of life, and prognosis. Results: The combined treatment group showed higher effectiveness (p < 0.05), improved liver function and tumor marker levels 4 weeks post-treatment (p < 0.05), significantly fewer complications (p < 0.05), and enhanced quality of life at the year-long follow-up (p < 0.05). The prognosis was better in the combination group, demonstrated by fewer recurrences and higher 1-year survival rates (p < 0.05). Conclusions: The dual approach of TACE and RFA shows improved results for HCC patients, including improved liver function, reduced tumor markers, fewer complications, and superior quality of life and prognosis. Consequently, combined treatment approach is endorsed for clinical practice.

Abstract:AIM:To investigate the efficacy of transcatheter arterial chemoembolization (TACE) combined with radiotherapy for unresectable large hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).METHODS:From June 1994 to June 1999, a total of 76 patients with large unresectable HCC were treated with TACE followed by external-beam irradiation. 89 patients with large HCC, who underwent TACE alone during the same period, served as the control group. Clinical features, therapeutic modalities, acute effects and survival rates were analyzed and compared between TACE plus irradiation group and TACE alone group. A multivariate analysis of nine clinical variables and one treatment variable (irradiation) was performed by the Cox proportional hazards model.RESULTS:The clinical features and therapeutic modalities except irradiation between the two groups were comparable (P>0.05). The objective response rate (RR) in TACE plus irradiation group was higher than that in TACE alone group (47.4 % vs 28.1 %, P<0.05). The overall survival rates in TACE plus irradiation group (64.0 %, 28.6 %, and 19.3 % at 1, 3, 5 years, respectively) were significantly higher than those in TACE alone group (39.9 %, 9.5 %, and 7.2 %, respectively, P=0.0001). Cox proportional hazards model analysis showed that tumor extension and Child grade were significant and were independent negative predictors of survival, while irradiation was an independent positive predictor of survival.CONCLUSION:TACE combined with radiotherapy is more effective than TACE alone, and is a promising treatment for unresectable large HCC.

Abstract:Background: The purpose of this study is to evaluate the efficacy of transcatheter arterial chemoembolization (TACE) combined with computed tomography-guided radiofrequency ablation (CT-RFA) in the treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) using magnetic resonance diffusion weighted imaging (MR-DWI) and CT perfusion imaging (CT-PI). Methods: From January 2008 to January 2014, a total of 522 HCC patients receiving TACE combined with CT-RFA were included in this study. All patients underwent TACE followed by CT-RFA, and 1 day before treatment and 1 month after treatment they received MR-DWI and CT-PI. Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) was performed to detect the concentration of alpha-fetoprotein (AFP). Tumor response was evaluated using the revised RECIST criteria. One-year follow-up was conducted on all patients. Receiver-operating characteristic (ROC) curve was drawn to evaluate the efficacy of TACE combined with CT-RFA for HCC using MR-DWI and CT-PI. Results: Total effective rate (complete remission [CR] + partial remission [PR]) of TACE combined with CT-RFA for HCC was 82.95%. HCC patients of CR + PR had lower hepatic blood flow (HBF), hepatic blood volume (HBV), permeability surface (PS), hepatic arterial perfusion (HAP), and hepatic perfusion index (HPI) levels than those of SD + PD, but HCC patients of CR + PR had higher mean transit time (MTT) level than those of SD + PD. The patients of PR + CR had higher apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) values than those of SD + PD. The patients of PR + CR showed lower AFP concentration than those of SD + PD. ROC curve analysis indicated that the area under the curve (AUC) of AFP, HBV, PS, HAP, HPI, and ADC was more than 0.7, but the AUC of HBF, MTT, and PVP were less than 0.7. After treatment, the AFP, HBF, HBV, PS, HAP, and HPI in the HCC patients with recurrence were higher than those in the HCC patients without, but MTT and ADC in the HCC patients with recurrence were lower than those in the HCC patients without. Conclusion: These findings indicate that MR-DWI and CT-PI can effectively evaluate the efficacy of TACE combined with CT-RFA and postoperative recurrence of HCC.

Abstract:Background: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is one of the most common cancers worldwide. Monotherapy is not very effective for intermediate or advanced stage HCC. Efficacy of combined therapy using transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) with three-dimensional conformal radiotherapy (3-DCRT) for advanced HCC should be evaluated.Methods: HCC patients were selected from our patient database. The sequence of treatments that patients underwent was several courses of TACE followed in 2-4 weeks by 3-DCRT. The median tumor irradiation dose was 44Gy. Toxicity, tumor response, and overall survival rate were analyzed.Results: 140 HCC patients were followed up by the last follow-up time. Among these patients, hepatic toxicities due to treatment were notable in 15 cases. Gastrointestinal bleeding after the overall treatment occurred in 3 cases. Leukopenia of grade III was detected in 1 case. Radiation-induced liver disease (RILD) was observed in 3 patients. Among 140 patients, 27, 97, and 16 cases achieved partial response, stable disease, and progressive disease, respectively. The overall survival rates of 1-year, 3-years, and 5-years were 66%, 29%, and 13%, respectively, with a median survival time of 18 months. Both Child-Pugh grade and radiation dose were determined to be independent predictors for overall survival from multivariate analysis.Conclusion: The combined modality of TACE and 3-DCRT is a promising treatment for unresectable HCC. A large-scale, prospective randomized trial should be performed to confirm the utility of this combined therapy. (C) 2010 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

Abstract:To evaluate the toxicity and efficacy of combined therapy of three-dimensional conformal radiotherapy (3DCRT) and transcatheter arterial chemoembolisation (TACE) for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). 50 HCC patients treated by combined TACE and 3DCRT were selected from a patient database. Sequence of treatments was that TACE was performed first, followed by 3DCRT with an interval of about 4 weeks between. TACE was administered by 5-Fu 500-600 mg m(-2), cis-platinum 30-40 mg m(-2), epi-adriamycin 40-60 mg m(-2) mixed with iodized oil and Gelfoam embolisation. A median of two courses of TACE was given. 3DCRT was delivered by 4-6 coplanar or non-coplanar fields. The mean tumour dose was 43.0+/-6.3 Gy by conventional fractionation (2 Gy per fraction, five fractions a week), and mean dose to normal liver, 19.1+/-6.3 Gy. Acute hepatic toxicities were notable in five patients (10%) with Common Toxicity Criteria (CTC) grade 1 in two cases and grade 3 in three patients, but all recovered eventually. Two patients developed radiation-induced liver disease (RILD) and died soon after the onset of RILD. Four patients had Radiation Therapy Oncology Group (RTOG) grade 1 acute gastrointestinal complication and one patient had acute gastrointestinal bleeding. Five patients experienced RTOG Grade 1 leukopenia and Grade 2 in five cases. Nine patients achieved have partial response, and 37 patients were in stable disease. Four patients were observed to have progressive disease. The overall survival rates at 1 year, 2 years and 3 years were 60%, 38% and 28%, respectively, with a median survival period of 17 months. Irradiation dose, T-stage and hepatic cirrhosis were identified as independent predictors for overall survival by Cox proportional regression analysis. The 1 year, 2 years and 3 years local progression-free rates were 74%, 57% and 38%, and the 1 year, 2 years and 3 years distant metastasis rates were 15%, 21% and 40%, respectively. The combined modality of TACE and 3DCRT was tolerable for the majority of HCC patients, resulted in good outcome and warrants for further prospective trial.

Abstract:Were Bassuoni et al.[1] the first ones to conduct a randomized controlled trial to compare volatile agents versus total intravenous anesthesia in non-cardiac surgery? Of course not. Till 2007, there were at least 79 randomized controlled trials published in peer-reviewed journals, which included 6219 patients receiving total intravenous anesthesia or volatile agents (sevoflurane or desflurane). Unfortunately, none of these studies reported adverse cardiac events or cardiac biomarker release.[2] After 2007, there was only one randomized controlled study addressing the cardioprotective properties of volatile agents in noncardiac anesthesia[3] and, probably due to the small sample size and to the low risk profile of the included patients, it found no beneficial cardioprotective effects of volatile agents.

Abstract:Background: Transcatheter arterial chemoembolization (TACE) combined with ablation has been widely used for treating unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). However, the technique with which TACE should be combined for it to be more effective remains unknown.Purpose: To retrospectively evaluate the efficacy and safety of TACE combined with microwave ablation (MWA) vs. TACE combined with cryoablation (CRA) in treating unresectable HCC.Materials and Methods: From January 2011 to December 2018, 108 patients diagnosed with unresectable HCC were divided into either the TACE-MWA group (n = 48) or TACE-CRA group (n = 60). Overall survival (OS) and time to progression (TTP) were compared between the two groups. To reduce potential bias, a propensity score matching (PSM) was performed. Complications were observed. Kaplan-Meier survival curves were constructed and compared using the log-rank test.Results : The baseline characteristics of the two groups were balanced. The median OS was 20.9 months (95% CI 14.3–27.6 months) in the TACE-MWA group and 13.0 months (95% CI 8.8–17.1 months) in the TACE-CRA group (P = 0.096). The median TTP was 8.8 months (95% CI 4.3–13.4 months) in the TACE-MWA group and 9.3 months (95% CI 7.1–11.5 months) in the TACE-CRA group (P = 0.675). After PSM, 48 patients remained in each group. The median OS in the TACE-MWA and TACE-CRA groups was 20.9 months (95% CI 14.3–27.6 months), and 13.5 months (95% CI 8.4–18.6 months, P = 0.100), respectively. The median TTP in the TACE-MWA and TACE-CRA groups was 8.8 months (95% CI 4.3–13.4 months), and 8.6 months (95% CI 3.1–14.2 months, P = 0.909), respectively. The overall incidence rate of ablation-related complications was lower in the TACE-MWA group than in the TACE-CRA group (66.7 vs. 88.3%, P = 0.006). Multivariate analysis showed that the presence of portal vein tumor thrombus (PVTT) and the maximum diameter of intrahepatic tumor were significant prognostic factors for OS and TTP.Conclusion: The efficacy of TACE-MWA and TACE-CRA in the treatment of unresectable HCC was comparable. TACE-MWA was more promising because of a lower complication rate, especially with regard to thrombocytopenia. Further prospective randomized controlled trials are required to validate our findings.

Methods:A total of 27 histological proved IHCC were treated with ultrasound-guided PMCT,and then followed by TACE.If tumor necrosis was not complete or recurrence was detected,repeated PMCT or TACE was performed.Results:After treat- ments,the rate of normalized CA199 was 44.4%,average tumor shrinkage was 51.40/00,complete tumor necrosis was 56.7%, median survival time was 18 months,1 year and 2 year survival rates was 66.7% and 22.9%,respectively.Conclusion:The combination of PMCT and TACE therapy for IHCC is a safe and effective modality.

Abstract:Objective:To evaluate the safety and efficacy of percutaneous microwave ablation（MWA） combined with simultaneous transarterial chemoembolization（TACE） in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma（HCC） patients with microvascular invasion（MVI） or extrahepatic metastases（EHM）.Methods:Between August 2012 and April 2017,101 patients with MVI/EHM of HCC underwent percutaneous MWA combined with simultaneous TACE at our center.The clinical data were collected and analyzed for survival and prognostic factors.Results:The mean follow-up time was 23.6±14.7 months.One patient had grade 3 complications,and the median overall survival was 12.0 months（95% confidence interval 9.7-14.3）.Multivariate analysis showed that ChildPugh class,serum alpha-fetoprotein level,and Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group performance status were independent factors of survival.Conclusion:Our results suggest that percutaneous MWA combined with simultaneous TACE is a safe and effective treatment for HCC with MVI/EHM.

Abstract:Objective: To observe and compare the effects between transcatheter arterial chemoembolization (TACE) combined with radiofrequency ablation (RFA) and single TACE therapy on the elimination rate of tumor's blood supply, tumor necrosis rate and adverse reactions in patients with middle-advanced hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Methods: We selected 180 patients with middle-advanced HCC who were admitted in our hospital from January 2015 to March 2016. They were divided into TACE group (n=76) and TACE + RFA group (n=104) according to their treatment methods. The elimination rate of tumor's blood supply, total effective rate, tumor necrosis rate and incidence of adverse reactions were compared between the two groups. Results: The elimination rate of tumor's blood supply, total effective rate and tumor necrosis rate in TACE + RFA group were all higher than those in TACE group (P=0.003, P=0.000, P=0.002 respectively). The incidence of adverse reactions in TACE + RFA group was lower than that in TACE group (P=0.000). Conclusion: TACE combined with RFA can better block the blood supply to tumor focus, accelerate the tumor necrosis and reduce the incidence of adverse reactions of TACE.
The Long-Term Efficacy of Combined Chemoembolization and Local Irradiation in the Treatment of Patients with Large Hepatocellular Carcinoma.

Abstract:Background/Aims: To investigate the effects and toxicity of combined transcatheter arterial chemoembolization and local radiotherapy for patients with unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma.Methodology: From June 1994 to June 1999, 28 patients with unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma (the largest dimension of tumor ranged from 3 to 10cm) were treated with transcatheter arterial chemoembolization followed by local irradiation. Response was assessed by computed tomography scan and ultrasound, together with serum a-fetoprotein level in cases with increased baseline values. Complications associated with treatment were monitored. Cumulative survival was determined by Kaplan-Meier method from the first day of treatment.Results: An objective response (reduction of tumor area greater than 50%) was achieved in 57.0% of the, cases. In 63.0% of the cases with increased a-fetoprotein values, a-fetoprotein level underwent a marked reduction (more than 50%). The cumulative survival rates at 1, 3, and 5 years were 81.9%, 42.4%, and 21.2%, respectively (median survival, 31 months, 95%CI: 27.8-34.2 months). The combination therapy was generally well tolerated.Conclusions: The results suggest that combined transcatheter arterial chemoembolization with local radiotherapy is an effective and safe treatment for unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma. Further study is required to compare the therapeutic efficacy of this regimen to transcatheter arterial chemoembolization or radiotherapy alone.

Abstract:Objective This study aimed to explore the efficacy of transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) combined with microwave ablation (MWA) adjuvant to lenvatinib and anti–PD–1 antibodies for patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Methods A retrospective analysis of 67 patients with HCC treated at our hospital between October 2018 and May 2022 was conducted. All patients underwent a combination of TACE and MWA. Among them, 29 received postoperative treatment with molecular–targeted agents, like lenvatinib, along with anti–PD–1 antibodies such as sindilizumab, karelizumab, or tirilizumab. The remaining 38 patients did not receive postoperative systemic therapies, like targeted or immunotherapy. The survival and prognosis of all patients were analyzed. Results Nine patients in the observation group and 29 patients in the control group experienced recurrence, and the median progression–free survival 1 (PFS1) was not reached ‘Not Applicable’(NA) and 17.05 months (P=0.035), respectively. Failure to combine adjuvant therapy was identified as an independent risk factor for tumor recurrence, and the observation group had a 0.245 times lower risk of recurrence compared to that in the control group (P=0.005). Multivariable Cox regression analysis confirmed that the maximum tumor size, and tumor number were risk factors for tumor recurrence. Patients with a large maximum tumor size had a 1.519 times higher risk of recurrence compared to those with a small maximum tumor size (P=0.006), and patients with a large number of tumors had a 5.978 times higher risk of recurrence compared to those with a small number of tumors (P=0.02). The median PFS2 of the two groups was 11.795 and 21.257 months, respectively, though not statistically significant (P=0.955). However, there was a disparity in the percentage of BCLC stages associated with recurrence between the two groups. In the observation group approximately 22.22% of patients progressed to stage C, while in the control group, this proportion was 34.48%. The observation group exhibited a lower risk of distant metastasis compared to the control group. Conclusion Adjuvant treatment of HCC following TACE combined with MWA improved PFS and achieved better clinical outcomes compared to that with TACE combined with MWA alone.
