Abstract:Interstitial lung disease (ILD) is a common pulmonary complication of rheumatoid arthritis (RA), causing significant morbidity and mortality. Optimal treatment for RA-ILD is not yet well defined. Reliable prognostic indicators are largely byproducts of prior ILD progression, including low or decreasing forced vital capacity and extensive or worsening fibrosis on imaging. In the absence of validated tools to predict treatment response, decisions about whether to initiate or augment treatment are instead based on clinical judgment. In general, treatment should be initiated in patients who are symptomatic, progressing, or at high risk of poor outcomes. Retrospective data suggest that mycophenolate mofetil, azathioprine, and rituximab are likely effective therapies for RA-ILD. Abatacept is also emerging as a potential first-line treatment option for patients with RA-ILD. Further, recent data demonstrate that immunosuppression may be beneficial even in patients with a usual interstitial pneumonia (UIP) pattern on imaging, suggesting that immunosuppression should be considered irrespective of imaging pattern. Recent randomized controlled trials have shown that antifibrotic medications, such as nintedanib and likely pirfenidone, slow forced vital capacity decline in RA-ILD. Consideration can be given to antifibrotic initiation in patients progressing despite immunosuppression, particularly in patients with a UIP pattern. Future research directions include developing tools to predict which patients will remain stable from patients who will progress, discriminating patients who will respond to treatment from nonresponders, and developing algorithms for starting immunosuppression, antifibrotics, or both as first-line therapies. A Systematic Review of the Key Predictors of Progression and Mortality of Rheumatoid Arthritis-Associated Interstitial Lung Disease

Abstract:Background: Rheumatoid arthritis-associated interstitial lung disease (RA-ILD) is an important extra-articular manifestation of rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Identifying patients at risk of progression and death is crucial for improving RA-ILD management and outcomes. This paper explores current evidence on prognostic factors in RA-ILD. Methods: We conducted a systematic literature review to examine the impact of clinical, radiological, and histological factors on lung function decline and the survival of RA-ILD patients. We searched electronic databases, including Medline and EMBASE, from inception to date. The incidence and prognosis of predictors were qualitatively analyzed, and univariate results were combined when feasible. Following the "Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA)" guidelines, our systematic literature review involved a five-step algorithm. Out of 2217 records, 48 studies were eligible. These studies reported various prognostic factors, including demographic variables, clinical risk factors, serum markers, and preexisting treatments. Results: Lung function declined over time in 1225 subjects, with significant variability in smoking history and radiological/pathological UIP patterns. Severe lung fibrosis and abnormal pulmonary function tests (PFTs) were key univariate prognostic indicators, while age at initial presentation, RA disease activity, predicted DLCO percentage, and UIP pattern were the most reliable multivariate risk factors for ILD progression. Age, male gender, disease duration, RA activity, acute phase reactants, and specific serum biomarkers (Krebs vin den Lungen 6, surfactant protein D, and interleukin 6) were significantly associated with all-cause mortality. Conclusions: RA-ILD is a severe complication of RA characterized by significant prognostic variability. Key prognostic factors include extensive fibrosis observed on imaging, a marked decline in lung function, high RA disease activity, and specific biomarkers. These factors can guide treatment strategies and improve patient outcomes.

Abstract:Aim Interstitial lung disease (ILD) is a common extra-articular manifestation of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and is associated with high mortality, especially in progressive ILD. We aimed to identify predictors of disease progression in the early stages of ILD in a large sample of patients with RA. Method The medical records of 201 RA-ILD patients were retrospectively analyzed. According to changes in their pulmonary function tests, patients were divided into progressive disease and stable disease groups. Data were collected on clinical characteristics, laboratory findings, chest high-resolution computed tomography, and therapeutic agents. Univariate and multivariate analyses were performed to identify predictors of ILD progression. Results During a median follow up of 38 months, 105 (52.5%) patients were diagnosed with progressive ILD. These patients were mostly male, past or present smokers (P = 0.028, P = 0.021, respectively). Higher Health Assessment Questionnaire-Disability Index score and higher Disease Activity Score in 28 joints with erythrocyte sedimentation rate (DAS28-ESR) were observed in the ILD progression group (P = 0.003, P < 0.001, respectively). There were no significant differences in baseline respiratory symptoms, pulmonary function, or laboratory features. Multivariate analysis indicated that high DAS28-ESR, definite usual interstitial pneumonia pattern, fibrosis score, and less use of cyclophosphamide were independent risk factors for RA-ILD progression. Fifteen (7.46%) patients died during the follow up, and the most frequent cause of death was lung infection. Conclusion Our results suggested that high disease activity, definite usual interstitial pneumonia pattern, fibrosis score, and less use of cyclophosphamide at the onset of ILD may indicate the progression of ILD in RA patients.

Abstract:Interstitial lung disease (ILD) accounts for the major cause of morbidity and mortality in rheumatoid arthritis (RA). However, little is known of the pathogenesis, diagnosis and treatment of RA-associated ILD. In this review, we describe our present understanding and ongoing research in RA-ILD. Its aetiology does appear to associate with anti-cyclic citrullinated peptide antibodies, MUC5B mutation and smoking. Another focus of this article is on recent diagnostic methods in RA-ILD. Compared with other methods, high-resolution computed tomography (HRCT) imaging is a main method for the evaluation of ILD in RA patients. Pulmonary function is better suited for assessing progression. An important topic relates to therapeutic intervention. Disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drugs (DMARDs) in RA lack strong evidence in the onset or worsening of ILD. The available literature support that methotrexate, leflunomide, abatacept and rituximab play beneficial roles in the prevention and treatment of RA-ILD.

Abstract:Interstitial lung disease (ILD) is a progressive fibrotic disease associated with rheumatoid arthritis (RA); real-world data for evaluating RA–associated ILD (RA–ILD) are limited. We evaluated prevalence, time to onset, clinical characteristics and prognostic factors in patients diagnosed with RA (n = 8963) in the Discus Analytics JointMan database (2009–2019) with and without ILD. ILD prevalence was 4.1% (95% confidence interval 3.7–4.5); > 90% had an ILD diagnosis after RA diagnosis (mean time to onset 3.3 years). At baseline, a higher proportion of patients with RA–ILD were older (> 65 years), male, with history of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) compared with patients in the RA cohort. Patients in the RA–ILD cohort were likely to have more severe RA characteristics and joint evaluation compared with patients without ILD, at baseline and before/after ILD diagnosis. In this large, real-world database patients with (vs without) ILD had a higher burden of RA characteristics. Previously established risk factors for RA–ILD were confirmed (age, baseline COPD, anti-cyclic citrullinated peptide positivity, C-reactive protein, Clinical Disease Activity Index score); thus, recognition of these factors and tracking routine disease activity metrics may help identify patients at higher risk of RA complications and lead to improved diagnosis and earlier treatment.

Abstract:Background: To introduce a prospective cohort for rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients with interstitial lung disease (ILD) and to identify their clinical features in comparison with RA patients without ILD. Methods: Using a multidisciplinary collaborative approach, a single-center cohort for RA patients with ILD (RA-ILD) was established in May 2017, and enrolment data from May 2017 to March 2021 were used to compare the clinical features of RA patients without ILD (RA-non ILD). Multivariable logistic regression analysis was used to identify factors associated with ILD in RA patients. Results: Among 148 RA-ILD and 410 RA-non ILD patients, participants in the RA-ILD group were older (65.8 ± 9.9 vs. 58.0 ± 10.4 years, P < 0.001) and included more males (35.8% vs. 14.6%, P < 0.001) than in the RA-non ILD group. The RA-ILD group had a higher proportion of late-onset RA patients (age ≥ 60 years) than in the comparator group (43.9% vs. 14.2%, P < 0.001). Multivariable logistic regression analysis showed that higher age at RA onset (OR 1.056, 95% CI 1.021-1.091), higher body mass index (BMI; OR 1.65, 95% CI 1.036-2.629), smoking history (OR 2.484, 95% CI 1.071-5.764), and oral glucocorticoid use (OR 3.562, 95% CI 2.160-5.874) were associated with ILD in RA patients, whereas methotrexate use was less likely to be associated with ILD (OR 0.253, 95% CI 0.155-0.412). Conclusions: Higher age at RA onset, smoking history, and higher BMI were associated with the presence of ILD among RA patients. Oral glucocorticoids were more frequently used whereas methotrexate was less likely to be used in RA-ILD patients.

The true prevalence of RA-ILD is difficult to define given the variability in diagnostic criteria used. The lack of standardized screening methods, an incomplete understanding of disease pathogenesis, and dearth of validated biomarkers have limited the development of controlled clinical trials for this disease.

Abstract:Objective To evaluate rheumatoid arthritis (RA) disease activity and risk of RA-associated interstitial lung disease (RA-ILD). Methods We investigated disease activity and risk of RA-ILD using the Brigham RA Sequential Study (BRASS, 2003-2016). All patients were diagnosed as having RA according to accepted criteria. Disease Activity Scores in 28 joints (DAS28) and covariate data were measured prospectively at annual study visits. Diagnosis of RA-ILD was determined by review of images from clinically indicated chest computed tomography scans. We analyzed patients without RA-ILD at baseline. We used Cox regression to estimate hazard ratios (HRs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) for RA-ILD, using annually updated DAS28 data, with adjustment for known RA-ILD risk factors (age, sex, smoking status, RA duration, and serologic status). We performed alternative analyses that did not censor at the time of missing DAS28 data and included adjustment for use of methotrexate, use of glucocorticoids, presence of bone erosions, and presence of rheumatoid nodules. Results Among 1,419 participants, the mean +/- SD age was 55.8 +/- 14.2 years, and 68.6% were seropositive for either cyclic citrullinated peptide or rheumatoid factor. We identified 85 incident cases of RA-ILD during a mean +/- SD follow-up duration of 8.9 +/- 4.2 years per patient. The moderate/high disease activity group had a multivariable HR of 2.22 (95% CI 1.28-3.82) for RA-ILD compared to the remission/low disease activity group. Risk of RA-ILD increased across disease activity categories: multivariable HR 1.00 (reference) for remission, 1.41 (95% CI 0.61-3.28) for low disease activity, 2.08 (95% CI 1.06-4.05) for moderate disease activity, and 3.48 (95% CI 1.64-7.38) for high disease activity (P for trend = 0.001). For each unit increase in the DAS28, the risk of RA-ILD increased by 35% (95% CI 14-60%). Results were similar in analyses that included follow-up for missing DAS28 data and with adjustment for use of methotrexate, use of glucocorticoids, presence of bone erosions, or presence of rheumatoid nodules. Conclusion Active articular RA was associated with an increased risk of developing RA-ILD. These results suggest that decreasing systemic inflammation may alter the natural history of RA-ILD development.

Abstract:Purpose of review To discuss changes in epidemiology, recent advances in understanding of the pathogenesis and management of selected extraarticular manifestations of rheumatoid arthritis (ExRA). Recent findings The incidence of ExRA overall and subcutaneous rheumatoid nodules in particular is declining after 2000. These trends reflect improved RA disease activity with early effective immunosuppressive treatments; changing environmental risk factors can be contributing. ExRA continues to carry a two-fold increased mortality risk. RA-associated interstitial lung disease (RA-ILD) is a major contributor to mortality, with no decline in incidence and scant therapeutic options. Individualized risk stratification for RA-ILD based on patient-level risk factors and biomarker profile is evolving with MUC5B as a major genetic risk factor. Clinical trials are underway to evaluate the benefits of novel antifibrotic therapies and targeted therapies for RA-ILD. The risk of cardiovascular disease in RA is generally amendable to treatment with disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs, although cardiovascular risk associated with JAK inhibition is not fully understood. Summary Despite reduction in incidence of ExRA overall, the incidence of RA-ILD shows no significant decline and remains a major therapeutic challenge. The use of novel antifibrotics and immunosuppressive drugs shows promise in slowing the progression of RA-ILD.

Abstract:BackgroundFactors associated with progression and survivals in rheumatoid arthritis–associated interstitial lung disease (RA-ILD) have not been described in a large center China cohort.MethodsSeven-hundred and ninety-one consecutive RA patients who completed lung HRCT were considered as potential participants in this retrospective cohort study. Determinants of ILD progression were identified through multivariable logistic analysis. Cox hazards analysis was used to determine significant variables associated with survival.ResultsOf 307 patients diagnosed with RA-ILD, 266 were finally included. The 3-year survival rate of RA-ILD patients was 81.24%, and the 5-year survival rate was 69.71%. A total of 82 deaths occurred during follow-up, of which 56 died of respiratory failure due to ILD progression and/or pneumonia while 14 with malignancies (8 with lung cancer). Logistic regression analysis showed that anti-CCP antibody high titer positive (OR: 4.03, 95% CI: 1.04–15.69) and DLCO% < 45% (OR: 8.31, 95% CI: 2.17–31.75) were independent risk factors for the ILD progression. Cox hazards analysis revealed that advanced age (> 60 years old) of RA-ILD diagnosis (HR: 2.32, 95% CI: 1.27–4.25) and extensive lung involvement on HRCT (HR: 2.19, 95% CI: 1.24–3.87) were associated with worse survival. Treatment with cyclophosphamide (HR: 0.43, 95% CI: 0.26–0.69) was associated with better survival.ConclusionsIn RA-ILD patients, anti-CCP antibody high titer positive and DLCO% < 45% are risk factors for ILD progression. Advanced age and extensive lung involvement on HRCT, rather than the baseline UIP pattern, independently predict mortality after controlling for potentially influential variables. Furthermore, cyclophosphamide treatment helps to improve the prognosis in real-world experience.

Abstract:Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a systemic inflammatory disorder, with the most common extra-articular manifestation of RA being lung involvement. While essentially any of the lung compartments can be affected and manifest as interstitial lung disease (ILD), pleural effusion, cricoarytenoiditis, constrictive or follicular bronchiolitis, bronchiectasis, pulmonary vasculitis, and pulmonary hypertension, RA-ILD is a leading cause of death in patients with RA and is associated with significant morbidity and mortality. In this review, we focus on the common pulmonary manifestations of RA, RA-ILD and airway disease, and discuss evolving concepts in the pathogenesis of RA-associated pulmonary fibrosis, as well as therapeutic strategies, and have revised our previous review on the topic. A rational clinical approach for the diagnosis and management of RA-ILD, as well as an approach to patients with clinical worsening in the setting of treatment with disease-modifying agents, is included. Future directions for research and areas of unmet need in the realm of RA-associated lung disease are raised.

Abstract:Patients with rheumatic diseases (RDs) are prone to a number of comorbidities, particularly those affecting the respiratory system due to inflammatory and autoimmune mechanisms. Rheumatoid arthritis (RA), systemic sclerosis (SSc), and inflammatory idiopathic myopathies (IIMs) often present with progressive interstitial lung disease (ILD). The prevalence of ILD varies among patients with RDs, with 11% in RA, 47% in SSc, and 41% in IIMs. Some diagnostic markers, including KL-6, cytokines TNF-α and IL-6, and autoantibodies (anti-CCP), play a crucial role in assessing and predicting the course of pulmonary involvement in RDs. Lung fibrosis is a progressive disorder in SSc and RA, limiting the effiency of therapeutic interventions. Re-evaluating treatment approaches with disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drugs (DMARDs) is crucial for understanding their impact on the risk of lung affections. Despite initial concerns surrounding methotrexate, recent evidence points to its benefits in RA-associated interstitial lung disease (RA-ILD). Recognizing the intricate relationship between autoimmune RDs and lung affections is crucial for formulating effective treatment strategies. Emphasis is placed on collaborative efforts of rheumatologists and pulmonologists for early diagnosis, comprehensive care, and optimal patient outcomes in RA-ILD.

Abstract:Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a systemic inflammatory disease, which primarily causes symmetric polyarthritis. An extrarticolar involvement is common, and the commonly involved organ is lungs. Although cardiac disease is responsible for most RA-related deaths, pulmonary disease is also a major contributor, accounting for ~10–20% of all mortality. Pulmonary disease is a common (60–80% of patients with RA) extra-articular complication of RA. Optimal screening, diagnostic, and treatment strategies of pulmonary disease remain uncertain, which have been the focus of an ongoing investigation. Clinicians should regularly assess patients with RA for the signs and symptoms of pulmonary disease and, reciprocally, consider RA and other connective tissue diseases when evaluating a patient with pulmonary disease of an unknown etiology. RA directly affects all anatomic compartments of the thorax, including the lung parenchyma, large and small airways, pleura, and less commonly vessels. In addition, pulmonary infection and drug-induced lung disease associated with immunosuppressive agents used for the treatment of RA may occur.

For every unit increase in DAS28, RA‐ILD risk increased by 35% (95%CI 14‐60%). Results were similar in analyses including follow‐up after missing DAS28 and adjusting for methotrexate, glucocorticoids, bone erosions, or rheumatoid nodules. Active RA was associated with increased risk for developing RA‐ILD. Abstract:Interstitial lung disease associated with rheumatoid arthritis (RA-ILD) is one of the systemic manifestations of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) associated with high mortality. According to the latest data, the prevalence of RA-ILD is 3–4%. 26% of patients with RA-ILD develop a progressive interstitial lung disease (ILD) phenotype. To date, for the diagnosis of ILD, including in RA, the ultrasound method of research is being intensively introduced. Ultrasonography of the lungs is a useful adjunct to high-resolution computed tomography (HRCT) and an affordable aid for frequent use. The advantages of lung ultrasound are high information content, reproducibility, ease of use, speed of execution, prognostic value, absence of ionizing radiation. Identification of B-lines in various variants, an uneven, thickened, discontinuous pleural line, and/or delimited cortical consolidations in the form of hypoechoic small areas during ultrasound of the lungs in RA patients can help to promptly suspect ILD and send them to HRCT. The simple and uncomplicated research technology makes it attractive for monitoring the progression of pulmonary fibrosis. The use of ultrasound is necessary, in particular, in the presence of a progressive ILD phenotype, confirmed by HRCT, for conducting serial studies in order to monitor the progression of the disease.

Abstract:Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic autoimmune condition frequently found in rheumatological patients that sometimes raises diagnosis and management problems. The pathogenesis of the disease is complex and involves the activation of many cells and intracellular signaling pathways, ultimately leading to the activation of the innate and acquired immune system and producing extensive tissue damage. Along with joint involvement, RA can have numerous extra-articular manifestations (EAMs), among which lung damage, especially interstitial lung disease (ILD), negatively influences the evolution and survival of these patients. Although there are more and more RA-ILD cases, the pathogenesis is incompletely understood. In terms of genetic predisposition, external environmental factors act and subsequently determine the activation of immune system cells such as macrophages, neutrophils, B and T lymphocytes, fibroblasts, and dendritic cells. These, in turn, show the ability to secrete molecules with a proinflammatory role (cytokines, chemokines, growth factors) that will produce important visceral injuries, including pulmonary changes. Currently, there is new evidence that supports the initiation of the systemic immune response at the level of pulmonary mucosa where the citrullination process occurs, whereby the autoantibodies subsequently migrate from the lung to the synovial membrane. The aim of this paper is to provide current data regarding the pathogenesis of RA-associated ILD, starting from environmental triggers and reaching the cellular, humoral, and molecular changes involved in the onset of the disease.

Inflammatory Biomarkers in the Diagnosis and Prognosis of Rheumatoid Arthritis–Associated Interstitial Lung Disease

Abstract:This study aimed to identify inflammatory factors and soluble cytokines that act as biomarkers in the diagnosis and prognosis of rheumatoid arthritis-associated interstitial lung disease (RA-ILD). We performed a nested prospective observational case–control study of patients with RA-ILD matched by sex, age, and time since the diagnosis of RA. All participants underwent pulmonary function testing and high-resolution computed tomography. ILD was defined according to the criteria of the American Thoracic Society/European Respiratory Society; the progression of lung disease was defined as the worsening of FVC > 10% or DLCO > 15%. Inflammation-related variables included the inflammatory activity measured using the DAS28-ESR and a multiplex cytokine assay. Two Cox regression models were run to identify factors associated with ILD and the progression of ILD. The study population comprised 70 patients: 35 patients with RA-ILD (cases) and 35 RA patients without ILD (controls). A greater percentage of cases had higher DAS28-ESR (p = 0.032) and HAQ values (p = 0.003). The variables associated with RA-ILD in the Cox regression analysis were disease activity (DAS28) (HR [95% CI], 2.47 [1.17–5.22]; p = 0.017) and high levels of ACPA (HR [95% CI], 2.90 [1.24–6.78]; p = 0.014), IL-18 in pg/mL (HR [95% CI], 1.06 [1.00–1.12]; p = 0.044), MCP-1/CCL2 in pg/mL (HR [95% CI], 1.03 [1.00–1.06]; p = 0.049), and SDF-1 in pg/mL (HR [95% CI], 1.00 [1.00–1.00]; p = 0.010). The only variable associated with the progression of ILD was IL-18 in pg/mL (HR [95% CI], 1.25 [1.07–1.46]; p = 0.004). Our data support that the inflammatory activity was higher in patients with RA-ILD than RA patients without ILD. Some cytokines were associated with both diagnosis and poorer prognosis in patients with RA-ILD.

Abstract:The current study aimed to evaluate rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients with interstitial lung disease (ILD) in clinical practice and whether disease characteristics are associated with X-ray and high-resolution computed tomography (HR-CT) findings. Medical history of RA patients from a tertiary rheumatology clinic was retrieved from its electronic database starting from 1 January 2019 until the study date (8 August 2022) using International Classification of Disease version 10 codes for RA, ILD and exclusion criteria. The study included 78 RA patients (75.6% women, 15.4% active smokers), with average time from RA to ILD of 5.6 years. Regarding chest X-ray findings, men had a higher prevalence of nodules, combined fibrosis and nodules and combined bronchiectasis and nodules, rheumatoid factor (RF)-positive patients had a higher prevalence of fibrosis and anti-cyclic citrullinated peptide antibodies (ACPA)-positive patients had a higher prevalence of bronchiectasis. Regarding HR-CT findings, patients actively treated with methotrexate had a higher prevalence of nodules; a combination of fibrosis and nodules; combination of emphysema and nodules; and combination of fibrosis, emphysema and nodules. ILD develops within approximately 5 years from RA diagnosis, and ILD-associated imaging findings on chest X-rays and HR-CT are more prevalent among men with RA, among patients with positive RA serology (RF and/or ACPA) and RA patients on methotrexate.

Therapeutic Advances in Musculoskeletal Disease

Abstract:Therapeutic Advances in Musculoskeletal Disease, Volume 14, Issue , January-December 2022. The major pulmonary complication of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is interstitial lung disease (ILD), which causes significant morbidity and mortality and influences the natural course of disease. Recent advances in the management of arthritis have improved patient outcomes. However, exceptionally high medical needs still remain for effective therapies for the patients with ILD in RA. Better understanding of the shared and distinct pathophysiology of fibrotic diseases led to the development of novel antifibrotic agents such as nintedanib and pirfenidone. The further stratification analysis of the phase III INBUILD trial demonstrated beneficial effects of nintedanib in RA-ILD with a progressive phenotype by reducing the rate of decline in forced vital capacity (FVC) over 52 weeks by 60%. Pirfenidone is another antifibrotic agent currently under phase II clinical study (TRAIL1) aiming to evaluate its effects for RA-ILD. This review provides an overview of state-of-the-art pathogenesis and the current therapeutic options for RA-ILD, with a focus on antifibrotic strategies.

Patient-level factors predictive of interstitial lung disease in rheumatoid arthritis: a systematic review

Abstract:Objective Interstitial lung disease (ILD) is an important cause of mortality in some patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Patient-level factors may predict which patients with RA are at the highest risk of developing ILD and are therefore candidates for screening for this complication of the underlying disease.Methods A systematic literature review was performed using PubMed, Embase and Scopus over a 10-year period up to July 2021. Publications reporting patient-level factors in patients with RA with and without ILD that were assessed before development of ILD (or were unchanged over time and therefore could be extrapolated to before development of ILD) were retrieved for assessment of evidence. Genetic variation in MUC5B and treatment with methotrexate were not included in the assessment of evidence because these factors have already been widely investigated for association with ILD.Results We found consistent associations of age, sex, smoking status and autoantibodies with development of ILD. For biomarkers such as Krebs von den Lungen 6, which have been shown to be diagnostic for ILD, there were no publications meeting criteria for this study.Conclusions This analysis provides an initial step in the identification of patient-level factors for potential development of a risk algorithm to identify patients with RA who may be candidates for screening for ILD. The findings represent a useful basis for future research leading to an improved understanding of the disease course and improved care for patients with RA at risk of development and progression of ILD.
