Abstract:The limited capacity of central nerve regeneration after cerebral ischemia has been the focus of attention in the field. Electroacupuncture (EA) is an effective therapy for functional rehabilitation after cerebral stroke. However, the underlying mechanism is still unclear. This study explored whether EA can improve the inhibitory microenvironment, attenuate RhoA/ROCK-mediated neurite regrowth inhibitory pathways, andpromote the expression of neuroplasticity proteins, thus exerting a protective role in cerebral ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury. Rats were subjected to middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO) for 2 h followed by 7 days of reperfusion, and they received EA or fasudil once daily for 7 days. The Garcia JH score, 2,3,5-triphenyltetrazolium chloride (TTC) staining, and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) were used to assess neural injury. The protein and mRNA levels of myelin-associated inhibitors (MAIs), RhoA/ROCK pathway-related molecules and neuroplasticity-related proteins were examined to explore the effect of EA on rats with cerebral I/R injury. We found that EA significantly decreased the infarct size and improved neurological function and hippocampal ultrastructure in the rats with cerebral ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury. EA ameliorates the inhibition of axonal regrowth and provides a protective role in functional rehabilitation after cerebral stroke by downregulating the MAI-induced RhoA/ROCK signaling pathway and by promoting the expression of GAP43 and BDNF to protect against cerebral I/R injury. Our findings provide a better understanding of the molecular mechanism underlying EA as an effective therapy for ischemic stroke.
The neuroprotection of electro-acupuncture via the PGC-1α/TFAM pathway in transient focal cerebral ischemia rats

Abstract:ATP depletion is one of the pathological bases in cerebral ischemia. Electro-acupuncture (EA) is widely used in clinical practice for ischemia. However, the mechanism of EA remains unclear. The purpose of this study was to investigate whether EA could activate the AMPK/PGC-1α/TFAM signaling pathway and, consequently, increase the preservation of ATP in rats with ischemia. In this study, 48 rats were randomly divided into four groups as a sham-operation control group (sham group), a middle cerebral artery occlusion group (MCAO group), an EA group, and an EA group blocked by the AMPK inhibitor compound C (EA + CC group) (N = 12/group). The rats of the EA group and EA + CC group received the EA treatment for 7 days. The rats that belonged in the two remaining groups were only grasped in the same condition. Then, their brain tissues were collected for further detection. When compared with other groups, EA significantly reduced neurological deficits score and increased motor function. The cerebral infarction volume was significantly reduced in the EA group according to TTC staining. With western blot, we found that EA improved the ratio of p-AMPKα/AMPKα (P < 0.05), however, there is no difference between the MCAO group and sham group (P > 0.05). In addition, EA also increased the expression of PGC-1α and TFAM (all P < 0.05). By Elisa, we observed that EA increased the preservation of ATP (P < 0.05) and mitochondrial respiratory enzymes, including Complex I (P < 0.05), Complex IV (P < 0.05), but not Complex III (P > 0.05). In summary, we conclude that EA may protect against ischemic damage in MCAO rats, improve the preservation of ATP and mitochondrial respiratory enzymes. This effect may be positively regulated by the activation of the PGC-1α/TFAM signaling pathway.

Abstract:OBJECTIVES:This study was carried out to observe the effect of electroacupuncture (EA) on neurological deficits, proliferation and differentiation of nerve stem cells (NSCs) in adult rats with middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO) and to study its possible role in the treatment of cerebral ischemic injury.METHODS:A rat model of MCAO was established and interfered with EA. On days 4, 7, 14 and 21 after ischemic injury, neurological deficits were scored. On days 4, 7, 14 and 21 after injury, effect of EA interference on the proliferation and differentiation of rat NSCs was observed with BrdU/NeuN and BrdU/GFAP immunofluorescence double labeling.RESULTS:A significant difference was found in the scores of rat neurological deficits between the EA and model groups 7, 14 and 21 days after cerebral ischemic injury (p<0.05). BrdU positive cells were found in the subventricular zone (SVZ) 4, 7, 14 and 21 days after ischemic injury. The number of positive BrdU cells in the SVZ reached its peak 7 days after injury and was greater in the EA group than in the model group 7 and 14 days after injury (p<0.05). The number of BrdU/GFAP doubly labeled positive cells in the SVZ was greater in the EA group than in the model group 7 and 14 days after ischemic injury (p=0.012 and p=0.025, respectively). There was no difference in the number of BrdU/NeuN doubly labeled positive cells 4, 7 and 14 days in the striatum, but a significant difference 21 days (p=0.033) after ischemic injury between the two groups.DISCUSSION:Cerebral ischemic injury induces proliferation of NSCs, some of which will differentiate into both astroglia and neurons. EA may promote cells proliferation, stimulate the proliferating cells to differentiate into astroglia and mature into neurons, which may be one of the important reasons why EA can alleviate neurological deficits.

Abstract:Acupuncture in Medicine, Ahead of Print. Background:Oxidative stress and inflammatory responses play essential roles in cerebral ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury. Electroacupuncture (EA) is widely used as a rehabilitation method for stroke in China; however, the underlying mechanism of action remains unclear. Peroxisome proliferator–activated receptor gamma (PPAR-γ) has been reported to impact anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidative effects.Objective:This study investigated the role of PPAR-γ in EA-mediated effects and aimed to illuminate its possible mechanisms in cerebral I/R.Methods:In this study, male Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats with middle cerebral artery occlusion/reperfusion (MCAO/R) injury were treated with EA at LI11 and ST36 for 30 min daily after MCAO/R for seven consecutive days. The neuroprotective effects of EA were measured by neurobehavioral evaluation, triphenyltetrazolium chloride staining, hematoxylin–eosin staining and transmission electron microscopy. Oxidative stress, inflammatory factors, neural apoptosis and microglial activation were examined by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, immunofluorescence and reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction. Western blotting was used to assess PPAR-γ-mediated signaling.Results:We found that EA significantly alleviated cerebral I/R-induced infarct volume, decreased neurological scores and inhibited I/R-induced oxidative stress, inflammatory responses and microglial activation. EA also increased PPAR-γ protein expression. Furthermore, the protective effects of EA were reversed by injection of the PPAR-γ antagonist T0070907.Conclusion:EA attenuates cerebral I/R injury by regulating oxidative stress, neuronal death and neuroinflammation via stimulation of PPAR-γ.

Abstract:Background: Electroacupuncture (EA) has been shown to promote functional recovery after cerebral ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) injury. However, the contribution of mitochondrial dynamics to recovery remains unclear. The aim of this study was to investigate whether mitochondrial dynamics are involved in the effects of EA on cerebral I/R injury. Methods: The rats with cerebral I/R injury were established by the middle cerebral artery occlusion/reperfusion. Subsequently, EA was applied to Baihui (GV20) and Dazhui (GV14) acupoints, with 2 Hz/5 Hz in frequency, 1.0 mA in intensity, 20 min each time, once a day for seven consecutive days. The therapeutic outcomes were assessed by modified neurological severity score (mNSS), 2,3,5-Triphenyte-trazolium chloride (TTC) staining, and hematoxylin-eosin (HE) staining. Mitochondrial morphology was observed under transmission electron microscopy. Adenosine triphosphate (ATP) content and ATP synthases (ATPases) activity were evaluated to measure mitochondrial function using ELISA. Finally, mitochondrial dynamics-related molecules, including dynamin-related protein 1 (Drp1), fission 1 (Fis1), mitofusin 1 (Mfn1), mitofusin 2 (Mfn2), and optic atrophy 1 (OPA1), were detected by Western blot and immunofluorescence staining. Results: Cerebral I/R injury induced neurological dysfunction, cerebral infarction and neuronal injury, all of which were ameliorated by EA. And EA improved mitochondrial morphology and function. Moreover, EA altered the balance of mitochondrial dynamics. Specifically, the data showed a significant decrease in the expression of Drp1 and Fis1, leading to the inhibition of mitochondrial fission. Additionally, Mfn1, Mfn2 and Opa1, which are related to mitochondrial fusion, were effectively promoted after EA treatment. However, sham EA did not show any neuroprotective effects in rats with cerebral I/R injury. Conclusions: In summary, our study indicates that the balance of mitochondrial dynamics is crucial for EA therapy to treat cerebral I/R injury.
Electroacupuncture ameliorates cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury by suppressing autophagy via the SIRT1-FOXO1 signaling pathway

Abstract:Cerebral ischemia/reperfusion (CIR) injury occurs when blood flow is restored in the brain, causing secondary damage to the ischemic tissues. Previous studies have shown that electroacupuncture (EA) treatment contributes to brain protection against CIR injury through modulating autophagy. Studies indicated that SIRT1-FOXO1 plays a crucial role in regulating autophagy. Here we investigated the mechanisms underlying the neuroprotective effect of EA and its role in modulating autophagy via the SIRT1-FOXO1 signaling pathway in rats with CIR injury. EA pretreatment at "Baihui", "Quchi" and "Zusanli" acupoints (2/15Hz, 1mA, 30 min/day) was performed for 5 days before the rats were subjected to middle cerebral artery occlusion, and the results indicated that EA pretreatment substantially reduced the Longa score and infarct volume, increased the dendritic spine density and lessened autophagosomes in the peri-ischemic cortex of rats. Additionally, EA pretreatment also reduced the ratio of LC3-II/LC3-I, the levels of Ac-FOXO1 and Atg7, and the interaction of Ac-FOXO1 and Atg7, but increased the levels of p62, SIRT1, and FOXO1. The above effects were abrogated by the SIRT1 inhibitor EX527. Thus, we presume that EA pretreatment elicits a neuroprotective effect against CIR injury, potentially by suppressing autophagy via activating the SIRT1-FOXO1 signaling pathway.

Abstract:This study aimed to evaluate the effects of electroacupuncture (EA) intervention administered at rats of middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO)/reperfusion. Fifty-four male Sprague-Dawley rats were divided into three groups, consisting of sham group, MCAO/R group, and EA group. EA treatment at Quchi and Zusanli acupoints was applied in rats of EA group at 24 h after MCAO once per day for 3 days. Our results indicated that EA treatment reduced infarct volumes and neurological deficits, as well alleviated the apoptotic cells in peri-infarct cortex, indicating that EA exerted neuroprotective effect in cerebral ischemic rats. Moreover, EA treatment may effectively reverse the upregulation of caspase-3 and Bim and alleviate the inhibition of Bcl-2 following 72-h ischemic stroke. EA may significantly reverse the promoted relative density level of p-ERK1/2, p-JNK, and p-p38 in the EA group compared with the MCAO/R group. In addition, the growth factor midkine (MK) was upregulated at 72 h after MCAO/R, and EA treatment may significantly prompt expression of MK. Our study demonstrated that EA exerted neuroprotective effect against neuronal apoptosis and the mechanism might involve in upregulation of MK and mediation of ERK/JNK/p38 signal pathway.

Abstract:Electro-acupuncture (EA) has an anti-inflammatory role in ischemic stroke, but whether the protective effect of EA involves the regulation of the intestine barrier and Treg/ γδ T cells is unclear. Cerebral ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) injury was induced by middle cerebral artery occlusion(MCAO) for 2 hours followed by reperfusion for 24 hours. The rats have treated with EA at the "Baihui" acupoint(GV20). Triphenyl tetrazolium chloride (TTC) staining and Longa neurologic score were performed to evaluate the outcomes after ischemic stroke. Inflammatory factor expression levels in the serum, ischemic hemisphere brain, and small intestine were detected by ELISA or RT-qPCR. Additionally, the morphology change of the small intestine was evaluated by analyzing villus height and smooth muscle thickness. Meanwhile, the expression of tight-junction proteins, including Zonula Occludens-1 (ZO-1), Occludin, and Claudin-1, were detected to evaluate the impact of EA on mucosal permeability in the small intestine. The percentages of regulatory T cells (Tregs) (CD45 + CD4 + Foxp3 + ) and γδ T cells (CD45 + CD4 - γδ T + ) were measured to assess the effect of EA on intestinal T cells. EA decreased the brain infarction volume and intestine barrier injury in ischemic stroke rats. At the same time, it effectively suppressed the post-stroke inflammation in the brain and small intestine. More importantly, EA treatment increased the percentage of Tregs in the small intestine while reducing the rate of γδ T cells, and ultimately increased the ratio of Treg/ γδ T cells. These results demonstrated that EA ameliorated intestinal inflammation damage by regulating the Treg/ γδ T cell polarity shift and improving the intestine barrier integrity in rats with I/R injury. This may be one of the mechanisms underlying the anti-ischemic injury effects of acupuncture on stroke.

Cerebral ischemia–reperfusion injury is frequently associated with neuroinflammation. The modulation of microglial polarization presents a promising approach for addressing cerebral ischemia–reperfusion injury. While electroacupuncture preconditioning has demonstrated efficacy in the management of ischemic stroke, the underlying therapeutic mechanisms remain inadequately understood. The investigation focused on elucidating the relationship between alterations in the TLR4/NF-κB/TXNIP/NLRP3 signaling pathway and microglial polarization subsequent to EA pretreatment. Established a middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO) rat model following electroacupuncture (EA) treatment at the Baihui (GV 20) acupoint. Male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly assigned to the sham, Ischemia/Reperfusion (I/R), I/R + EA groups (n = 6). The results of Nissl Staining and TUNEL Stainingl showed that the number of curative neurons increased significantly after pretreatment, indicating an improvement in neuron formation and an increase in the number of austenite. The level of apoptosis in brain tissue in the I/R group was significantly higher than that in the sham operation group. Electroacupuncture pretreatment can effectively inhibit apoptosis occurrence. In addition, electric acupuncture pretreatment protects rat blood–brain barrier integrity and mitochondrial function. After treatment, the number of M1-type microglia decreased, while the number of M2-type microglia increased. These results suggest that EA preconditioning may alleviate neurological deficits and neuronal apoptosis caused by cerebral I/R injury, while maintaining the integrity of the blood–brain barrier and promoting microglial polarization through the TLR4/NF-κB/TXNIP/NLRP3 signaling pathway. Our findings establish a new molecular mechanism and theoretical foundation for electroacupuncture therapy of ischemic stroke. Abstract:For the first time PIV has been applied simultaneously with acetone-PLIF in the freeboard of a fluidized bed. Here, the eruption profile of single bubbles and a continuous stream of bubbles were studied. As stereoscopic PIV was applied the out-of-plane component of the velocity was also measured. The out-of-plane component is not negligible. The observed bubble eruption patterns were in general agreement with the bubble model of Levy and Lockwood,24 Yorquez-Ramirez and Duursma5 and Solimene et al.1 No qualitative difference between the eruption of a single bubble and a stream of bubbles was observed. Based on the calculated vorticity of the gas in the freeboard, it was found that the bubble induced turbulence decays fairly rapidly. © 2009 American Institute of Chemical Engineers AIChE J, 2009
Electroacupuncture at GB20 improves cognitive ability and synaptic plasticity via the CaM–CaMKII–CREB signaling pathway following cerebral ischemia–reperfusion injury in rats

Abstract:Acupuncture in Medicine, Ahead of Print. Background:This study aimed to investigate the effects of electroacupuncture (EA) on cognitive recovery and synaptic remodeling in a rat model of middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO) followed by reperfusion and explore the possible mechanism.Method:Focal cerebral ischemia was modeled in healthy adult Sprague-Dawley rats by MCAO. The MCAO rats were classified into four groups: sham, MCAO, MCAO + GB20 (receiving EA at GB20) and MCAO + NA (receiving EA at a "non-acupoint" location not corresponding to any traditional acupuncture point location about 10 mm above the iliac crest). Neurological deficit scores and behavior were assessed before and during the treatment. After intervention for 7 days, the hippocampus was dissected to analyze growth-associated protein (GAP)-43, synaptophysin (SYN) and postsynaptic density protein (PSD)-95 expression levels by Western blotting. Bioinformatic analysis and primary hippocampal neurons with calcium-voltage gated channel subunit alpha 1B (CACNA1B) gene overexpression were used to screen the target genes for EA against MCAO.Results:Significant amelioration of neurological deficits and learning/memory were found in MCAO + GB20 rats compared with MCAO or MCAO + NA rats. Protein levels of GAP-43, SYN and PSD-95 were significantly improved in MCAO + GB20–treated rats together with an increase in the number of synapses in the hippocampal CA1 region. CACNA1B appeared to be a target gene of EA in MCAO. There were increased mRNA levels of CACNA1B, calmodulin (CaM), Ca2+/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase type II (CaMKII) and cyclic adenosine monophosphate response element binding (CREB) and increased phosphorylation of CaM, CaMKII and CREB in the hippocampal region in MCAO + GB20 versus MCAO and MCAO + NA groups. CACNA1B overexpression modulated expression of the CaM–CaMKII–CREB axis.Conclusion:EA treatment at GB20 may ameliorate the negative effects of MCAO on cognitive function in rats by enhancing synaptic plasticity. EA treatment at GB20 may exert this neuroprotective effect by regulating the CACNA1B–CaM–CaMKII–CREB axis.

[Clinical and radiologic long-term follow-up of Eden-Lang operation in habitual anterior shoulder dislocation].

Abstract:The incidence of degenerative arthritis after Eden-Lange procedure is judged differently in literature, recently high rates of degenerative arthritis have been reported. 37 patients and the same number of shoulder joints have been evaluated clinically and radiologically after an average follow-up time of 14.9 years. Overall results can be considered as good. Recurrence of dislocation occurred only in one case. Most frequently we observed a limitation of external rotation and overhead performance in sports. The frequency of degenerative arthritis was 17%, clearly less than mentioned elsewhere. Abstract:Hand-assisted laparoscopic radical nephrectomy is an established therapeutic choice for localized renal cell carcinoma. Laparoscopic sigmoidectomy is becoming accepted for the treatment of locally advanced sigmoid colon cancer. Primary cancer may occur synchronously in two different organs, in which case simultaneous resection is recommended if possible. To our knowledge this is the first report of simultaneous laparoscopic resection of coexistent renal and colonic double primary malignant tumors.
Electroacupuncture Alleviates Cerebral Ischemia/Reperfusion Injury in Rats by Histone H4 Lysine 16 Acetylation-Mediated Autophagy

Abstract:Background: Electroacupuncture (EA) treatment in ischemic stroke has been highlighted recently; however, the specific mechanism is still elusive. Autophagy is considered a new target for cerebral ischemia/reperfusion (I/R), but whether it plays a role of protecting or causing rapid cell apoptosis remains unclear. Studies have reported that the reduction in lysine 16 of histone H4 acetylation coheres with autophagy induction. The primary purpose of the study was to explore whether EA could alleviate I/R via autophagy-mediated histone H4 lysine 16 acetylation in the middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO) rat model. Methods: One hundred and twenty male Sprague-Dawley rats were divided into five groups: control group, MCAO group, MCAO+EA group, MCAO+EA+hMOF siRNA group, and MCAO+EA+Sirt1 inhibitor group. EA was applied to “Baihui” (Du20) and “Renzhong” (Du26) at 5 min after modeling and 16 h after the first EA intervention. The structure and molecular markers of the rat brain were evaluated. Results: EA significantly alleviated I/R injury by upregulating the expressions of Sirt1, Beclin1, and LC3-II and downregulating the expressions of hMOF and H4K16ac. In contrast, the Sirt1 inhibitor lowered the increase in Sirt1, Beclin1, and LC3-II and enhanced the level of hMOF and H4K16ac expressions associated with EA treatment. Besides, ChIP assay revealed that the binding of H4K16ac in the Beclin1 promoter region of the autophagy target gene was significantly raised in the MCAO+EA group and MCAO+EA+hMOF siRNA group. Conclusions: EA treatment inhibited the H4K16ac process, facilitated autophagy, and alleviated I/R injury. These findings suggested that regulating histone H4 lysine 16 acetylation-mediated autophagy may be a key mechanism of EA at Du20 and Du26 to treat I/R.

Anterior cruciate ligament injuries in young females playing soccer at senior levels

Abstract:The aim of this investigation was to study the consequences of anterior cruciate ligament injuries in female soccer players. Special interest was focused on young female soccer players (< 16 years) sustaining anterior cruciate ligament injuries when playing at a senior level, which means playing together with players 19 years or older. In Sweden, all players belonging to an organized soccer club are insured by the same insurance company, the Folksam Insurance Company. Data of all soccer‐related knee injuries in females reported to the Folksam Insurance Company between 1994 and 1998 were collected. A questionnaire was sent to 978 females who were registered to have sustained a knee injury before the age of 20 years. The response rate was 79%. Three hundred and ninety‐eight female soccer players who had sustained an anterior cruciate ligament injury before the age of 19 years were analysed. Most of their anterior cruciate ligament injuries had been diagnosed using arthroscopy or magnetic resonance imaging (84%). Thirty‐eight percent of the players had been injured before the age of 16 years. Of these, 39% were injured when playing in senior teams. When playing in senior teams 59% of the players below the age of 16 years and 44% of the players 16 years or older sustained their ACL injuries during contact situations. At the time of this investigation (2–7 years after the anterior cruciate ligament injury), altogether 78% (n = 311) reported that they had stopped playing soccer. The most common reason (80%) was symptoms from their anterior cruciate ligament‐injured knee. It appears that many young female soccer players injure their anterior cruciate ligament when playing at a senior level. Therefore, we suggest that female soccer players under the age of 16 years should be allowed to participate only in practice sessions but not games at a senior level.

Abstract:This study describes physicians' attitudes towards the use of complementary therapies (CTs) by cancer patients in Finland. Responses to 33 Likert-type statements were received from 234 physicians; the response rate was 50.6%. The questionnaire items were analysed separately and using five sum variables. Data analysis was based on descriptive statistics, chi-square and t-tests and analysis of variance. Attitudes among physicians and oncologists in particular were quite critical. Over four-fifths of the physicians (86%) were doubtful whether CTs should be used at all, given the scarcity of solid research evidence on their benefits. Three quarters (75%) referred to unknown risk factors, half (51%) were of the opinion that CTs should not be used in cancer care at all. On the other hand 58% believed that CTs could help to relieve stress and anxiety among cancer patients, and 79% wanted to see scientific testing to establish the effects of CTs. The most positive attitude towards CTs was shown by general practitioners and non-specialized physicians. Positive attitudes were associated with personal CT use, with recommending CTs to patients and with a high level of interest to participate in CT training. The physicians did not believe the specific CTs singled out for investigation would help patients to recover from cancer. They thought that the use of CTs by cancer patients was motivated by future hope, a determination to do everything possible to cure the cancer and the perception of CTs as a last resort. The result that professional attitudes towards CTs are quite critical in Finland presents a very special challenge to the relationship between physicians and patients: it is crucial that physicians know enough about CTs so that they can discuss the issue with patients and provide relevant advice and guidance on their use.

Abstract:The accumulation of dysfunctional mitochondria induced by the impairment of the autophagy-lysosome pathway (ALP), especially mitophagy is an important cause of cerebral ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) injury. Electroacupuncture (EA) exerts remarkable effects in treating ischemic stroke; however, the detailed mechanism remains unclear. In this study, rats were treated with mitochondrial permeability transition pore (mPTP) opening inhibitor, peroxynitrite (ONOO−) scavenger, or selective inhibitor of mitophagy activation during 2-h middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO) followed by 24 h of reperfusion in combination with EA treatment. RNA-Seq analysis showed that EA treatment in cerebral I/R was linked to the autophagosome, the PI3K/Akt signaling pathway and metabolic pathways. We found that I/R resulted in significantly mitochondrial function impairments including decreased mitochondrial membrane potential (MMP) and ATP levels, aggregation of damaged mitochondria, excessive nitro/oxidative stress, PI3K/Akt/mTOR-mediated ALP dysfunction and deficiency of Pink1/Parkin-mediated mitophagy clearance. The treatment with EA, cyclosporine-A (CsA, a potent inhibitor of mPTP opening) or FeTMPyP (a type of ONOO− scavenger) could significantly increase MMP and/or ATP levels, improve mitochondrial function and decrease neuronal injury. At the same time, EA also improved ALP dysfunction and the deficiency of mitophagy clearance; however, mitochondrial division inhibitor-1 (Mdivi-1, a selective inhibitor of mitophagy activation) blocked mitophagy clearance and aggravated neuronal injury. Taken together, EA ameliorates nitro/oxidative stress-induced mitochondrial functional damage and decreases the accumulation of damaged mitochondria via Pink1/Parkin-mediated mitophagy clearance to protect cells against neuronal injury in cerebral I/R.
