Abstract:Journal of Hand Surgery (European Volume), Volume 49, Issue 2, Page 158-166, February 2024. This article reviews and highlights complications of flexor tendon repairs. Although the outcomes of flexor tendon repairs have improved over the years, fair or poor functional outcomes are seen, especially in patients whose trauma involves multiple structures of the hand and in zone 5 with multiple tendon lacerations. Rupture of the flexor tendon after repair is no longer a major problem if current repair principles are carefully adhered to. Different degrees of adhesion formations and interphalangeal (IP) joint stiffness still occur in a few patients. Early active postoperative mobilization and use of a shorter splint with sparing of the wrist are effective measures to prevent adhesion formation and IP joint stiffness. Given the overall poor results and high rate of complications with flexor digitorum profundus (FDP) repairs in zone 1, a direct repair of the FDP tendon to any short remnant of the distal insertion with 10-strand or even stronger core suture repair is adopted by many units.

Abstract:We report outcomes in 29 patients with flexor tendon repairs in 32 digits (five thumbs and 27 fingers) with our modified protocols. We repaired the lacerated flexor digitorum profundus tendons with core suture repairs using the 6-strand M-Tang method and without circumferential sutures. We divided the pulleys as much as needed to allow excursion of the repaired tendons, including complete division of the A4 or A2 pulleys when necessary. In nine fingers, we repaired one slip of the flexor digitorum superficialis tendon and resected the other half. When the flexor digitorum profundus tendon would not glide under the A2 pulley, we excised the remaining slip of the flexor digitorum superficialis tendon. The wrist was splinted in mild extension post-surgery with early commencement of tenodesis exercises. No tendon repair ruptured. By the Strickland criteria, out of 27 fingers, 18 had excellent, six had good, two had fair, and one had poor results. We conclude that a strong core suture (such as the M-Tang repair) without peripheral sutures, and with division of pulleys as necessary is safe for early active motion and yields good outcomes. Initial Experience with the PONTiS Tendon Repair System in Traumatic Upper Extremity Injuries

Abstract:Background: Tendon injuries of the upper extremity remain a common surgical condition requiring prompt intervention. The authors review their initial experience with the PONTiS flexor tendon repair system, a knotless, multifilament, stainless steel crimp system. Methods: Consecutive patients undergoing repair by plastic and orthopedic surgeons with the PONTiS system were reviewed for the period from 2015 to 2017. Multivariate risk and Kaplan-Meier survival analyses were performed to assess risk factors associated with complications. Results: Eighty-one patients, with a mean follow-up of 75 days (range, 0 to 33 months), were identified. The most common demographics showed patients were right-handed (82.9 percent), male (71.4 percent), and laborers (35.7 percent) and sustained laceration injuries (77.1 percent) at zone 2 (27.2 percent). There were, on average, 3.7 tendon injuries per patient. Associated injuries included fractures (21.4 percent), arterial injuries (24.3 percent), and nerve injuries (61.4 percent). Thirteen patients (16.0 percent) developed complications, including adhesions/contracture ( n = 4), rupture ( n = 2), flap ischemia ( n = 2), arterial thrombosis ( n = 1), wound dehiscence ( n = 1), tendon lag ( n = 1), and erosion of the PONTiS system through soft-tissue grafts ( n = 2). Multivariate analysis identified poor soft-tissue coverage (OR, 9.990; p = 0.043) and zone 2 involvement (OR, 7.936; p = 0.016) as risk factors, while epitendinous repairs (OR, 0.096; p = 0.010) were protective against complications. Conclusions: The PONTiS flexor tendon repair system is rapid, simple to deploy, and advantageous, especially in multiple traumatic tendon injuries. In comparison to traditional suture repair, it has a comparable overall complication profile but superior rupture and tenolysis rates. The authors advise using it with caution in cases with poor soft-tissue coverage to minimize risks of extrusion, and they strongly recommend the use of epitendinous sutures concurrently to limit complications.

Abstract:Flexor tendon injuries require surgical repair. Early repair is optimal, but staged repair may be indicated for delayed presentations. Zone II flexor tendon injuries are the most difficult to achieve acceptable outcomes and require special attention for appropriate repair. Surgical techniques to repair flexor tendons have evolved over the past several decades and principles include core strand repair using at least a 4 strand technique, epitendinous suture to add strength and gliding properties, and pulley venting. Early postoperative active range of motion within the first 3 to 5 days of surgery is essential for optimizing outcomes.

Abstract:Background: Optimal treatment for pediatric and adolescent T-condylar fractures remains poorly understood. We sought to assess how functional outcomes and range of motion (ROM) after surgical fixation of T-condylar fractures are affected by patient and surgical factors. Methods: This is a retrospective cohort study of 52 patients with operatively treated T-condylar fractures at a single tertiary pediatric referral center between 2003 and 2021. All patients younger than 18 at the time of injury with a radiographically confirmed diagnosis were included. Results: Fifty-two T-condylar fractures were included, with a mean patient age of 12.9 years (SD, 2.8). The cohort was 65% male. Nine (19%) fractures were open, 46% (24/52) were AO type C2, and 33% (17/52) occurred in skeletally mature individuals. The surgical approach was through olecranon osteotomy in 29% (15/52) of patients, and fixation included anatomically specific plates and screws in 42% (22/52) of patients. In our cohort, 46% (24/52) achieved good outcomes based on Jarvis ROM criteria and 42% (22/52) achieved good to excellent results based on Roberts functional criteria. The median loss of ROM was 58 degrees at 6 weeks, 20 degrees at 3 and 6 months, and 8 degrees at 1 year postoperatively. We observed a complication rate of 54% (28/52). Patients undergoing adult-type plate fixation had better postoperative range of motion at 6 weeks (ROM loss 52 vs. 80 degrees, P =0.03) and 3 months (10 vs. 35 degrees P =0.004) compared with pediatric-type fixation and trended towards better functional outcomes. We did not identify significant differences in functional outcome scores or complication rates with respect to surgical approach or skeletal maturity. Conclusions: Surgical fixation of pediatric and adolescent T-condylar fractures achieved a good to excellent functional outcome in only a minority of patients (46% Jarvis / 42% Roberts) with a high rate of postoperative complications (54%). Future work is needed to elucidate optimal treatment to minimize complications and achieve the best functional outcomes in these challenging fractures. Level of evidence: Level-IV.

Abstract:Abstract Introduction Peripheral nerve injuries in children are uncommon and can be challenging to diagnose. There is a paucity of data on long-term sensorimotor and functional outcomes following surgical repair. We present a 12-year retrospective analysis of pediatric peripheral nerve repair with long-term functional outcomes. Materials and Methods We performed a retrospective analysis of pediatric patients with peripheral nerve injury requiring surgical repair. Clinical records were analyzed for procedure type, time to surgery, mechanism of injury, postoperative recovery, and complications. Results A total of 108 patients were identified and 87 patients were included. Out of 87 patients, 83 (95.4%) had partial or complete sensorimotor recovery at final follow-up and 4 did not improve. Minor complications occurred in 10.3% of patients, all resolved with conservative management. Mechanisms of injury were predominantly lacerations with sharp objects or crush injuries. Age at time of injury was inversely correlated with sensorimotor recovery, and time to surgical repair was not. Conclusion Surgical repair with long-term hand therapy results in excellent functional outcomes following pediatric peripheral nerve injury. A low threshold for exploration and repair should be used in instances of diagnostic uncertainty. Timing of surgical repair is dependent on a patient’s clinical presentation; however, repair within 48 hours is sufficient for optimal sensorimotor recovery.

Abstract:Background: Extensor tendon injuries are a common condition that hand surgeons must be prepared to treat. The area of extensor tendon injury can traditionally be broken down into 9 zones. Physical examination is the best way to diagnose extensor tendon injury with a loss of active extension in the injured digit. The tenodesis effect may be utilized to aid in diagnosis: wrist flexion should cause passive extension at the metacarpophalangeal, proximal interphalangeal, and distal interphalangeal joints if the extensor tendon is in continuity. Description: Repair of extensor tendon injuries depends on the zone of injury and the thickness of the tendon, which determines its ability to hold core sutures. For zone-I and II injuries, several "figure of 8" buried sutures can be utilized or a running type of suture may be employed. For zone-III to VII injuries, 1 or 2 core sutures and a supplementary running suture can be utilized. Alternatives: Several alternative techniques have been previously described. These include variations in the number of core strands, repair configuration, and suture caliber, as well as the use of epitendinous repair. Alternative treatments also include nonoperative treatment, which is typically reserved for partial tendon injuries and for patients who are unable to tolerate a surgical procedure. Rationale: The techniques that we describe are tailored to the thickness of the tendon. Running sutures are applicable to any zone, whereas core sutures are best utilized in zones III through VII. The running interlocking horizontal mattress technique has been found to be stiffer and faster to accomplish compared with the other techniques, and was found to have good to excellent clinical results in a study of lacerations in zones IV and V1,2. Expected outcomes: Repair of extensor tendon lacerations has demonstrated good long-term outcomes if performed in a timely manner after injury. A previous study showed good to excellent function in up to 64% of acute extensor tendon repairs, more fingers lost the ability to flex fully than lost the ability to extend3. Systematic reviews have suggested that dynamic rehabilitation may not provide superior long-term benefit compared with static splinting4. Important tips: The Elson test should be performed under a digital nerve block in order to properly assess the integrity of the central slip.In distal zone I and III injuries, suture anchors or bone tunnels may be utilized when there is no remaining tendon on the distal end of the laceration.When preparing the tendon ends for repair, it is important to handle the tendon delicately-preferably through the cut end of the tendon rather than the tendon itself.In zone-VII injuries, the injured tendon may lie beneath the extensor retinaculum. In such cases, windowing of the extensor retinaculum may decrease adhesion formation and facilitate repair. Abstract:Context: Tendinopathy is a disease state characterized by tendon disorder with pain or decreased function that can cause significant disability. Multiple treatment modalities exist; however, no single treatment is superior. Ultrasound-guided percutaneous needle tenotomy (PNT) and TENEX are emerging as promising treatment options for tendinopathy. Objective: To review the current literature of reported outcomes for PNT, TENEX, and TENJET, for the treatment of tendinopathy, including pain relief, change in function, and patient-reported outcomes. Data sources: A comprehensive search was conducted from database inception to September 2023 in Ovid Medline, Ovid Embase, and Cochrane Library. Study selection: Keywords and index terms related to tendon injury, ultrasound, and tenotomy were used in combination to identify relevant literature that included ultrasound-guidance, treatment of tendinopathy, and treatment with PNT, TENEX, or TENJET. Covidence Systematic Review Software used to screen for relevant studies. Only English-language studies were included. Study design: Systematic Review using PICO framework as defined and registered with the International Prospective Register of Systematic Reviews (PROSPERO ID CRD42022321307). Level of evidence: Level 4 (evidence from a systematic review graded to the lowest level of study included). Data extraction: Articles meeting the inclusion criteria were reviewed. Type and region of tendinopathy studied, outcome measures, and complications were recorded. Clinical and self-reported outcomes data were compared across studies. Results: A total of 10 studies, representing 11 tendon sites, were included. The studies overall report improvements in pain, function, and quality of life after undergoing PNT or TENEX, with minimal adverse effects. Mean risk of bias assessment scores were 8.35 out of 10 assessing internal and external validity for included studies. Conclusion: PNT and TENEX are safe, beneficial, and minimally invasive treatment option for patients, especially for conditions refractory to more conservative treatments options.
Outcomes of the six-strand M-Tang repair for zone 2 primary flexor tendon repair in 54 fingers

Abstract:We repaired complete divisions of flexor tendons in zone 2 in 54 fingers using a six-strand core M-Tang repair method. Partial active digital motion started with early passive digital motion carried out first in the first 3–4 weeks after surgery and full range of active motion in later weeks. The patients were followed for 4–27 months. According to Strickland criteria or Tang criteria, 24 (83%) had excellent or good, four fair and one poor results in 28 fingers with follow-up of more than one year. In the other 25 fingers which were followed for less than 12 months, 19 (76%) had excellent and good, four fair and two poor results. There were no repair ruptures. We analysed outcomes against ages, gender, pulley integrity, accompanied injuries and follow-up times. The patients younger than 37 years old, male patients and with their A2 pulley(s) vented there were significantly better outcomes. The patients with longer than one year follow-up had significantly smaller extension deficits than those with less than one year follow-up. Level of evidence: IV

Abstract:Introduction: We aimed to investigate and compare the 30-day postsurgical complication rates and total operative times for hand or wrist flexor tendon injury repair procedures. Methods: We performed a retrospective cohort analysis of the American College of Surgeon National Quality Improvement Program database between 2015 and 2019. Patients were included in our study if they were 18 years or older and underwent surgical repair of a wrist or hand flexor tendon by a plastic surgeon, general surgeon, or orthopedic surgeon. Primary endpoint of the study was 30-day postsurgical complications. Secondary endpoint included subcategory analysis of 30-day postsurgical complications. Another variable of interest included total operative time. Results: There were 2614 surgeries performed for wrist or hand flexor tendon injury repair during the 5-year period. Orthopedic surgeons performed the majority of the operations (1548, 59.2%). Repair or advancement of the flexor tendon zone 2 without grafts (1284, 49.1%) were the most common surgeries performed. Overall surgical site complication rate was 2%, with no significant associations between the complication and the surgical specialty performing the operation. A significant difference in total operative time between surgical specialties was only found in single flexor tendon repairs ( P < .001). Conclusions: Surgical repair for hand and wrist flexor tendon injury is a safe surgical procedure with a low short-term postoperative complication rate. Despite variations in training, complications remain similar between specialties for flexor tendon repairs.

Abstract:Abstract Postburn flexion contracture of the hand in children constitutes a significant proportion of postburn complications. We compared the early clinical outcomes of reconstruction of pediatric postburn flexion contracture of the digits of the hand using tourniquet or tumescent technique. A prospective randomized study of pediatric patients requiring contracture release and wound resurfacing with full-thickness skin graft between September 2020 and August 2021. Patients were randomized into groups of either tourniquet or tumescent technique for contracture release. The surface area of graft take and total active motion across joints were the outcome measures. Student t test and chi-square test were performed. Twenty-two patients were randomized into either group. The mean age of the participants was 6.09 ± 2.41 years, mostly males 31 (72.1%). A grade 3 flexion contracture was the most common (72.1%). Ninety-four digits and 178 joints were operated on, with the proximal interphalangeal joint being the most common (48.9%). The mean surface area of graft take on postoperative day 10 was significantly higher for the tumescent group than the tourniquet group, P = .001. The total active motion across the joints at 6 and 9 weeks postoperative showed a strong correlation between the total active motion across joints and the technique of release, P = .004 and .001, respectively. Tumescent technique is a feasible alternative to the tourniquet method for postburn flexion contracture release of the digits in the pediatric burned hand.

Abstract:Objective: Managing flexor tendon injuries surgically remains challenging due to the ongoing debate over the most effective suture technique and materials. An optimal repair must be technically feasible while providing enough strength to allow for early active mobilization during the post-operative phase. This study aimed to assess the biomechanical properties of three modified Kessler repair techniques using two different suture materials: a conventional two-strand and a modified four-strand Kirchmayr–Kessler repair using 3-0 Prolene® (2s-KK-P and 4s-KK-P respectively), and a four-strand Kessler–Tsuge repair using 4-0 FiberLoop® (4s-KT-FL). Methods: Human flexor digitorum profundus (FDP) tendons were retrieved from Thiel-embalmed prosections. For each tendon, a full-thickness cross-sectional incision was created, and the ends were reattached using either a 2s-KK-P (n = 30), a 4s-KK-P (n = 30), or a 4s-KT-FL repair (n = 30). The repaired tendons were tested using either a quasi-static (n = 45) or cyclic testing protocol (n = 45). Maximum force (Fmax), 2 mm gap force (F2mm), and primary failure modes were recorded. Results: In both quasi-static and cyclic testing groups, tendons repaired using the 4s-KT-FL approach exhibited higher Fmax and F2mm values compared to the 2s-KK-P or 4s-KK-P repairs. Fmax was significantly higher with a 4s-KK-P versus 2s-KK-P repair, but there was no significant difference in F2mm. Suture pull-out was the main failure mode for the 4s-KT-FL repair, while suture breakage was the primary failure mode in 2s- and 4s-KK-P repairs. Conclusions: FDP tendons repaired using the 4s-KT-FL approach demonstrated superior biomechanical performance compared to 2s- and 4s-KK-P repairs, suggesting that the 4s-KT-FL tendon repair could potentially reduce the risk of gapping or re-rupture during early active mobilization.

Abstract:BACKGROUND: Metacarpal fractures, one of the most prevalent upper limb fractures, account for 10% of all bony injuries.OBJECTIVE: Our systematic review aimed to review, appraise and collate available evidence on hand rehabilitation programmes for the management of second to fifth metacarpal fractures in an adult human population after conservative and surgical management. Since 2008, no review on a similar topic has been performed, thus informing clinical practice for physiotherapists and occupational therapists.METHODS: Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis (PRISMA) principles guided the reporting. Experimental, quasi-experimental, cohort and case-control studies between January 2008 and September 2018 were included. Searches were conducted on Medline, Academic Search Ultimate, CINAHL, CAB Abstracts, Health Source - Consumer Edition, Health Source: Nursing/Academic Edition, SPORTDiscus, Africa-Wide Information and MasterFILE Premier, Web-of-Science and Scopus. Screening, selection, appraisal and data extraction were independently performed by two reviewers. No meta-analysis was performed.RESULTS: A total of 1015 sources were identified, 525 duplicates removed and 514 excluded. Three articles were included in the final data extraction: one randomised controlled trial (RCT) and two observational studies.CONCLUSION: Limited evidence is available that a well-designed, well-implemented home-based exercise programme results in statistically significant improved hand function (p ˂ 0.0001) and digital total active motion (TAM) (p = 0.013) compared with traditional physiotherapy (PT) post-surgically.CLINICAL IMPLICATIONS: Our study contributes to the knowledge base of hand rehabilitation after an individual sustained a second to fifth metacarpal fracture. The authors identified a gap where future studies should further investigate the effect of hand rehabilitation after conservative and surgical management.
[Profile of lithium carbonate use in patients with bipolar disorder in Colombia].

Abstract:INTRODUCTION Lithium is the drug of choice for the treatment of bipolar affective disorder. OBJECTIVE To define lithium therapeutic profile and adverse reactions to its use in patients with bipolar affective disorder in Colombia. MATERIALS AND METHODS We conducted an observational retrospective cohort study between January 1 and December 31, 2013, which included patients with a diagnosis of bipolar disorder treated with lithium carbonate in 25 Colombian cities; we evaluated socio-demographic variables, lithium dose, co-medication, drug interactions and adverse reactions. A multivariate analysis was done using SPSS 22.0. RESULTS The 331 patients had an average age of 44.5 ± 13.9 years; 59.2% were women. The mean dose of lithium was 898 ± 294 mg/day; 22% received doses lower than recommended, and patients had received lithium for 38.0 ± 39.5 months (range: 12-159 months). Lithium levels in blood had been measured only in 13.5% of patients; 71.3% of them had received adjuvant therapy for bipolar disorder with other drugs, especially clozapine (16.6%) and valproic acid (16.6%). The main comorbidities were hypothyroidism (18.1%) and hypertension (12.7%); 390 potentially toxic drug interactions were found, and adverse reactions were reported in 1.2% of patients. A statistically significant association was found between a lower risk of combination therapy and receiving treatment in the cities of Bogotá (OR=0.4, p=0.025), Cartagena (OR=0.3, p=0.015) and Ibagué (OR=0.3, p=0.025). CONCLUSION Lithium was generally used at recommended doses and intervals, but a significant percentage of patients received lower doses than those recommended, and it was not possible to compare with lithium levels in blood. Adverse reactions and blood lithium levels reporting should be improved in patients with bipolar disorder in Colombia.

Abstract:Purpose: Pediatric trigger finger (PTF) is an acquired condition that is uncommon and anatomically complex. Currently, the literature is characterized by a small number of retrospective case series with limited sample sizes. This investigation sought to evaluate the presentation, management, and treatment outcomes of PTF in a large, multicenter cohort. Methods: A retrospective review of pediatric patients with a diagnosis of PTF between 2009 and 2020 was performed at three tertiary referral hospitals. Patient demographics, PTF characteristics, treatment strategies, and outcomes were abstracted from the electronic medical records. Patients and families also were contacted by telephone to assess the downstream persistence or recurrence of triggering symptoms. Results: In total, 321 patients with 449 PTFs were included at a mean follow-up of 3.9 ± 4.0 years. There were approximately equal numbers of boys and girls, and the mean age of symptom onset was 5.4 ± 5.1 years. The middle (34.7%) and index (11.6%) fingers were the most and least commonly affected digits, respectively. Overall, PTFs managed operatively achieved significantly higher rates of complete resolution compared with PTFs managed nonsurgically (97.1% vs 30.0%). Seventy-five percent of PTFs that achieved complete resolution with nonsurgical management did so within 6 months, and approximately 90% did so within 12 months. Patients with multidigit involvement, higher Quinnell grade at presentation, or palpable nodularity were significantly more likely to undergo surgery. There was no significant difference in the rate of complete resolution between splinted versus not splinted PTFs or across operative techniques. Conclusions: Only 30% of the PTFs managed nonsurgically achieved complete resolution. Splinting did not improve resolution rates in children treated nonsurgically. In contrast, surgical intervention has a high likelihood of restoring motion and function of the affected digit. Type of study/level of evidence: Therapeutic IV.

Abstract:Background Glide deficit of the distal flexors' tendons following primary repair in zone 1–3 are very common. Adhesions of tendons have multi factorial origins and are closely related to the healing of the affected tissues. The surgical practice used to resolve these complications is tenolysis. Purpose The purpose of this study was to identify and compare the Visual Analog Scale (VAS) relate to pain and Total Active Motion (TAM) of adult patients of both sexes undergoing tenolysis surgery. The results will then be compared to existing research to confirm their significance. Study Design Case-series. Methods Retrospective data for TAM and pain VAS were extracted from the medical records for 63 patients (73 fingers) who underwent flexor tenolysis between 2017 and 2019. Data were compared pre-operatively and 3 months after surgery. All patients underwent pre- and post-surgery therapy by hand therapists. Results The sample presented very encouraging improvements, except in the VAS and active range of motion (AROM) of thumb where some patients maintained the same assessment. The fingers reported statistically significant results, whereas the thumb group did not meet significant criteria. Overall, TAM improved from 134.6° to 196.7 and VAS decreased from 2.7 to 1.2. Discussion According to the results and the data change between pre- and post-treatment, the sample demonstrated improvements in all areas examined, reporting statistically significant results for the fingers with an improvement of TAM of 62.1° with a percentage value (%TAM) of 75.6%. Conclusions A specific treatment for this type of surgery is required for the patients so they can return to their daily and working activities. This article can be used as a starting point for further studies.

Abstract:An investigation of hyphomicrobia from manganese deposits and various fresh-water habitats revealed an astonishing degree of pleomorphy in the group. A range of variation spanning two described genera (Hyphomicrobium and Pedomicrobium) was induced by varying culture conditions and was further observed in natural environments. It is suggested that Pedomicrobium is an invalid genus.

Abstract:Guba and Sapir asked, in their joint paper [8], if the simultaneous conjugacy problem was solvable in Diagram Groups or, at least, for Thompson's group F. We give an elementary proof for the solution of the latter question. This relies purely on the description of F as the group of piecewise linear orientation-preserving homeomorphisms of the unit. The techniques we develop allow us also to solve the ordinary conjugacy problem as well, and we can compute roots and centralizers. Moreover, these techniques can be generalized to solve the same questions in larger groups of piecewise-linear homeomorphisms.

Abstract:Abstract Background Flexor tendon injuries are a commonly occurring injury presenting to hand surgeons. Using PRP to augment tendon healing has been advocated only recently. Few studies discussed the effect of injection of PRP in tendon healing after tendon repair in large joints as regard functional outcome and range of motion (e.g. Achilles tendon and rotator cuff) Objective To study the effect of combination of PRP injection with physiotherapy on gliding and range of motion improvement after zone II flexor tendon repair. Patients and Methods prospective interventional controlled clinical study preformed on 40 patients with zone II flexor tendon injury. Patients were divided into two groups, group I (interventional group) PRP was injected around the tendon at the site of repair after one and six weeks of repair and patients received physiotherapy according to our unit protocol. In group II (control group) patients received physiotherapy only. Both groups were evaluated at six and twelve weeks regarding the range of motion according to Buck-Gramko II criteria. Results Based on the Buck-Gramcko II criteria, the overall results ranged between fair and good in both groups after six weeks of repair, the score ranged between 7-16 (mean= 11.5) in group I and 6-14 (mean= 10) in group II, There was no statistical difference between the two groups (P = 0.46).After 12 weeks of repair, the overall results ranged between good and excellent in both groups, the score ranged between 11-17 (mean= 14) in group I and 9-16 (mean=12.5) in group II. There was no statistical difference between the two groups (p = 0.207). Conclusion PRP injection had no statistical significant effect of on the gliding after flexor tendon repair at zone II.
