Abstract:The extant methods for detecting multi-residues in aquatic products can avoid the disadvantages of complex pretreatment, long time consumption, single detection type, and low sensitivity. Therefore, developing a method that enables a multi-residue detection of veterinary drugs is very important. QuEChERS is a simple, rapid, and efficient method for detecting multi-drug residues. In this work, QuEChERS pretreatment combined with ultra-performance liquid chromatography–tandem mass spectrometry was proposed to identify sulfamide, tetracycline, quinolone, and malachite green residues in oyster, scallop, squid, and cuttlefish. The sample was extracted by using acetonitrile solution containing 0.1% acetic acid, while the extract was purified by using the QuEChERS method. The target analytes were separated on an ACQUITY UPLC BEH chromatographic column by using acetonitrile solution as a mobile phase for the gradient elution. Quantification was performed by using the internal standard method. The recovery of the 21 tested compounds was within the range of 65.26 to 113.5% and the relative standard deviation was less than 6.78%, thereby proving the good repeatability of the method. The intra- and inter-day precisions were less than 6.26% and 6.02%, respectively, while the limits of detection and quantification were less than 0.8 μg/kg and 2.5 μg/kg, respectively. The proposed method was then applied to detect residues in 150 samples of oysters, scallops, squid, and cuttlefish obtained from eight regions, including Shenzhen, Dongguan, Zhaoqing, Shantou, Maoming, Jiangmen, Shanwei, and Huizhou in Guangdong Province. No residues were detected in any of these samples. In sum, the proposed detection method has good reproducibility, high sensitivity, and reliability.

Abstract:The presence of veterinary drug residues in aquatic products represents a significant challenge to food safety. The current detection methods, limited in both scope and sensitivity, underscore the urgent need for more advanced techniques. This research introduces a swift and potent screening technique using high-performance liquid chromatography-high-resolution mass spectrometry (HPLC-HRMS) and a refined QuEChERS protocol, allowing simultaneous qualitative and semi-quantitative analysis of 192 residues. A comprehensive database, employing full scan mode and data-dependent secondary mass spectroscopy, enhances screening accuracy. The method involves efficient extraction using 90% acetonitrile, dehydration with Na2SO4, and acetic acid, followed by cleanup using dispersive solid-phase extract sorbent primary secondary amine. It is suitable for samples with varying fat content, offering detection limits ranging from 0.5 to 10 μg/kg, high recovery rates (60-120%), and low relative standard deviations (<20%). Practical application has validated its effectiveness for multi-residue screening, marking a significant advancement in food safety evaluation.

Abstract:A new analytical method was developed to simultaneously determine residues of 109 pesticides (including isomers) in the foods of animal origin. Acetonitrile was selected for accelerated solvent extraction (ASE) for effectively extracting the pesticides from the fatty samples. The cleanup was performed with an automated gel permeation chromatography (GPC) cleanup system. The prepared samples were analysed with GC–MS in the selected ion monitoring mode (SIM) using one target and two qualitative ions for each analyte. Chlorpyrifos-d10 was used as an internal standard. The lowest limit of detection was 0.3μgkg−1 for some pesticides. The recoveries and relative standard deviations (RSDs) were checked by spiking untreated samples with pesticides at 0.05, 0.1 and 0.2mgkg−1. The average recoveries of most pesticides were from 62.6% to 107.8%. The precision values expressed as RSD were all ⩽20.5% (n=6). Good linearity (r⩾0.99) was observed between 0.05 and 1.5μgmL−1.

Abstract:Pesticide residues in aquatic products are of great concern due to the risk of environmental transmission and their extensive use in aquaculture. In our work, a quick screening approach was developed for the qualitative and semi-quantitative screening of 87 pesticide residues in aquatic products. The sample preparation was investigated, including extract solvent, extract methods, buffer salts, lipid removal, cleanup materials and filter membranes for aquatic products. Samples were extracted using a modified QuEChERS procedure, and two clean-up procedures were developed for UHPLC-Q/Orbitrap MS analysis based on the fat content of the aquatic products. The screening detection limits for all studied pesticides were distributed between 1 and 500 μg/kg in the three representative matrices. Seventy-one pesticides could be analyzed with a screening limit between 1 and 25 μg/kg in grass carp and crayfish, sixty-one pesticides could be screened for limits between 1 and 50 μg/kg in crab. The accuracy results showed that recoveries ranged from 50 to 120% for 60, 56 and 52 pesticides at medium-level for grass carp, crayfish and crab, respectively. At high spiking levels, 74, 65 and 59 pesticides were recovered within the range of 50–120% for the three matrices, respectively. The relative standard deviations of most compounds in different matrices were less than 20%. With this method, the local farmed aquatic products were tested for pesticide residues. In these samples, ethoxyquinoline, prometryn and phoxim were frequently detected. The majority of these confirmed compounds did not exceed 2.00 μg/kg. A grass carp with trichlorfon at 4.87 μg/kg and two carps with ethoxyquinoline at 200 μg/kg were detected, indicating the potential dietary risk.

Multiclass and multi-residue determination of pesticides and antibiotics in sediment from an aquacultural environment based on modified dispersive solid-phase extraction

Abstract:A quick, easy, cheap, effective, rugged, and safe method was developed for the multi-residue analysis of pesticides and antibiotics in aquaculture sediment using high-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (HPLC-MS/MS). The developed method is based on ultrasonic extraction with acetonitrile and phosphate buffer, salting with sodium chloride, and cleaning with dispersive solid-phase extraction adsorbent using primary secondary amine, C18, and graphitized carbon black, followed by HPLC-MS/MS detection. We optimized different extraction methods and the ratio of the cleanup adsorbents to achieve good recoveries at three spiking levels that ranged from 60.4% to 114% with a relative standard deviation below 15% (n = 6). For all analytes, except for flufenoxuron, the limits of quantification were between 1 and 5 µg/kg (dry weight). The validated method was successfully applied to real samples collected from 20 aquacultural ponds, confirming the feasibility of the proposed method. The concentrations of the target analytes in the sediments (dry weight) were in the ranges of 2.2-35.0 µg/kg for sulfonamides, 0-409.1 µg/kg for quinolones, 0-6.56 µg/kg for macrolides, and 0-4.9 µg/kg for pesticides. Moreover, the co-occurrence of pesticides and antibiotics may potentially pose a high risk to sediment-dwelling organisms in nine out of the 20 investigated locations.

Abstract:The establishment of an efficient method for the analysis of drug residues in animal urine facilitates the real-time monitoring of drugs used in the production of animal-derived food. A modified QuEChERS extraction-liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) method was established for the determination of 47 banned drug and related chemical residues in livestock urine. The sample was extracted with acetonitrile by converting the acid-base environment. The sample cleanup effects of seven solid phase extraction cartridges and two EMR-Lipid products were compared, and three materials, including graphitized carboxyl multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs), PSA, and C18, were selected as QuEChERS adsorbents from 24 materials. All analytes showed good linearity, with correlation coefficients (R2) greater than 0.9936. Low limits of quantification could be obtained, ranging from 0.2 to 5.5 ng/mL. The average recoveries at low, medium, and high spiked levels were in the range of 70.8-114.9 %, with intra-day precision ranging from 2.4 % to 11.2 % and inter-day precision ranging from 4.5 % to 16.1 %. Swine urine and bovine urine samples collected from different farms were effectively analyzed using the developed method, and metronidazole was detected in three swine urine samples.

Abstract:A sensitive and selective quick, easy, cheap, effective, rugged, and safe (QuEChERS) extraction combined with dispersive solid-phase extraction (d-SPE) cleanup method was developed to simultaneously extract a wide range of personal care products (16 biocides, 4 synthetic musks, and 4 benzotriazoles) in fish muscle and liver tissues. In order to get satisfactory recoveries, different extraction parameters were optimized, including extraction salts and d-SPE materials, extraction solvents and acetic acid contents in organic phase, and the ratios of solvent and water. Ultra pressure liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry were used to analyze the target compounds in the extracts. Among the 24 personal care products, the recoveries in the range of 70–120 % were obtained for 20, 19, and 12 analytes in fish muscle at the spiking concentrations of 10, 5, and 1 ng/g ww, respectively, and for 13, 12, and 11 analytes in liver at the spiking concentrations of 40, 20, and 4 ng/g ww, respectively. Method quantification limits (MQLs) of all analytes were 0.02–2.12 ng/g ww for fish muscle and 0.22–12.2 ng/g ww for fish liver tissues. The method was successfully applied to wild fish samples collected from Dongjiang River, south China. Abstract:Improvements in living standards have led to an increase in the consumption of animal-derived foods. Pesticides may be used illegally during animal breeding as well as meat production and processing for pest control and preservation. Pesticides applied to crops may also be enriched in animal tissues through the food chain, thereby increasing the risk of pesticide residue accumulation in muscles and visceral tissues and endangering human health. China has stipulated maximum residue limits for pesticide residues in livestock and poultry meat and their viscera. Many other major developed countries and organizations, including the European Union, Codex Alimentarius Commission, and Japan, have also set maximum residue limits for these residues (0.005-10, 0.004-10, and 0.001-10 mg/kg, respectively). Research on pretreatment technologies for pesticide residue detection in plant-derived foods is widely available, but insufficient attention has been paid to animal-derived foods. Thus, high-throughput detection technologies for pesticide residues in animal-derived foods are limited. The impurities that can interfere with the detection process for plant-derived foods mainly include organic acids, polar pigments, and other small molecular compounds; by contrast, the matrix of animal-derived foods is much more complex. Macromolecular proteins, fats, small molecular amino acids, organic acids, and phospholipids can interfere with the detection of pesticide residues in animal-derived foods. Thus, selecting the appropriate pretreatment and purification technology is of great importance. In this study, the QuEChERS technique was combined with online gel permeation chromatography-gas chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (GPC-GC-MS/MS) to determine 196 pesticide residues in animal-derived foods. The samples were extracted with acetonitrile, purified using the QuEChERS technique coupled with online GPC, detected by GC-MS/MS, determined in multiple reaction monitoring mode (MRM), and quantified using the external standard method. The effects of the extraction solvent and purification agent type on the extraction efficiency and matrix removal of the method were optimized. The purification effect of online GPC on the sample solution was investigated. The optimal distillate receiving time was obtained by studying the recoveries of the target substances and matrix effects over different distillate receiving periods to achieve the effective introduction of target substances and efficient matrix removal. Further, the advantages of the QuEChERS technique combined with online GPC were evaluated. The matrix effects of 196 pesticides were assessed; ten pesticide residues showed moderate matrix effects, while four pesticide residues showed strong matrix effects. A matrix-matched standard solution was used for quantification. The 196 pesticides showed good linearity in the range of 0.005-0.2 mg/L, with correlation coefficients greater than 0.996. The limits of detection and quantification were 0.002 and 0.005 mg/kg, respectively. The recoveries of 196 pesticides at spiked levels of 0.01, 0.05, and 0.20 mg/kg were 65.3%-126.2%, with relative standard deviations (RSDs) of 0.7%-5.7%. The proposed method is rapid, accurate, and sensitive; thus, it is suitable for the high-throughput screening and detection of multiple pesticide residues in animal-derived foods.

Abstract:Pesticide residues in foodstuffs can lead to several undesirable effects. A simple and high-throughput targeted screening method analyzing multi-residue pesticide in aquaculture water based on ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography-Q/Orbitrap mass spectrometry (UHPLC-Q/Orbi MS) was developed and validated. In this technique, the peaks of the compound using precursor ions were recorded by the full scan, which was used for rough quantitative analysis with single point matrix matched calibration. The qualitative identification was performed following the stringent confirmation criteria with fragment ions, retention time, and an isotopic pattern. Additionally, solid-phase extraction with an HLB (Hydrophilic/Lipophilic Balanced) column was selected to enrich and separate target pesticides from water. The screening detection limit of 33 compounds are less than 2 ng·L−1, while 26 compounds range from 2 ng·L−1 to 10 ng·L−1, 19 compounds are at the range of 10–200 ng·L−1, and the other two compounds are 200 ng·L−1 and 1000 ng·L−1. Most of the recovery results were found to be between 60~130%. Finally, the method was successfully applied to the analysis of pesticide residues in 30 water samples from aquaculture environment in Shanghai, indicating its applicability in pesticide screening for environmental monitoring.

Abstract:An analytical method for the simultaneous determination of 13 mycotoxins in feed by magnetic dispersive solid-phase extraction combined with ultra-high performance liquid chromatography and tandem mass spectrometry was developed. The samples were extracted with acetonitrile/water (80:20, v/v, containing 3% acetic acid), and separated by centrifugation after salting-out, and then treated with magnetic adsorbents to remove interferences. The separation of target mycotoxins was performed on an ACQUITY UPLC HSS T3 column using a mobile phase consisting of 1 mmol/L ammonium acetate with 0.1% formic acid and methanol by gradient elution. Good linearities for the 13 mycotoxins were achieved with correlation coefficients over 0.99, and the recoveries of mycotoxins were in the range of 89.3-112.6% at spiking at levels of 5, 20, and 100 mu g/kg, with relative standard deviations of 0.9-10.4%. Based on the functional magnetic materials (MDN@Fe3O4, PSA@Fe3O4, ZrO2@Fe3O4) applied in dispersive solid-phase extraction, the pretreatment process is more convenient and it is beneficial to reduce the experimental cost by reusing the recycled magnetic materials. It is a simple, rapid, and environmentally friendly analytical method for the determination of mycotoxins in feed.

Abstract:The purpose of this study was to develop a modified QuEChERS method based on melamine sponge for rapid determination of multi-class veterinary drugs in milks by UPLC-MS/MS. Through simple infiltration and extrusion, fast and convenient matrix purification could be achieved within several seconds, and there was no need of extra phase separation operations. Good linearity with correlation coefficient (R2) ≥0.999 was obtained for all drugs in the range of 2∼500 μg•kg−1. The obtained matrix effects were within ±20% for all monitored drugs. The recoveries of all monitored drugs ranged from 60.7% to 116.0% at three spiked levels (50, 100, and 200 μg•kg−1), with relative standard deviations less than 7.4%. Comparatively low LODs and LOQs were obtained in the ranges of 0.1∼3.8 μg•kg−1 and 0.2∼6.3 μg•kg−1, respectively. Compared with conventional purification adsorbents, melamine sponge yielded an equal or higher purification performance with matrix removal rate as high as 52.5% and acceptable recoveries in range of 60%-120% for all monitored drugs. The satisfactory results have demonstrated the good potential of melamine sponge in matrix purification for rapid determination of multiclass residues in food safety.

Abstract:n-Octadecylamine was adopted as a cleanup agent to develop a novel solidification of a switchable solvent-based QuEChERS method. At higher temperatures (such as 55 degrees C), n-octadecylamine can melt into a liquid, allowing effective extraction of matrix interferences in acetonitrile solution (i.e., in dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction). At lower temperatures, n-octadecylamine carrying matrix interferences can rapidly solidify and easily separate from the acetonitrile solution. The results demonstrated that n-octadecylamine possessed a better ability to remove matrix interferences and reduce matrix effects than those of traditional solid-phase dispersive extraction cleanup agents of primary secondary amine and octadecyl bonded silica gel. By coupling it with gas chromatography-mass spectrometry, the proposed method was applied to the detection of 16 pesticides in cucumber. The recoveries were from 80.9 to 112.6% with relative standard deviations less than 12.9%. Satisfactory results were also obtained for the detection of 16 pesticides in pear, orange, apple, pepper, lettuce, and tomato.

Abstract:A modified QuEChERS pretreatment method and LC-MS/MS technique were performed to simultaneously determine four pesticide (Hexachlorophene, Dinex, Dinosam, Dinoterb) residues in agricultural products. Through the optimization of LC-MS/MS detection parameters in SIM mode, the optimal instrument conditions are obtained. The modified QuEChERS method was used to pretreat the samples. Solid phase extractants PSA, C18 and GCB were used for sample purification. The research results showed that the correlation coefficients of the four pesticides were all greater than 0.991, which had a good linear relationship. The limits of quantitation (LOQ) of the four pesticides were 0.05–0.56 μg/kg. The recoveries were 70.51–113.20% with relative standard deviations (RSDS) of 1.6–11.2%. The developed method can provide reliable data support for the subsequent simultaneous detection of these four pesticides.
Simultaneous determination of triazine herbicides and their metabolites in shellfish by HPLC-MS/MS combined with Q/E-Orbitrap HRMS

Abstract:Triazine herbicides are used extensively in agriculture and aquaculture worldwide because of their broad effectiveness in weed control. However, after they are discharged into the sea, they seriously contaminate aquatic ecosystems and threaten aquatic organisms, especially shellfish. Currently, there are no established methods for the detection and confirmation of triazine herbicides and their metabolites in biological matrixes. Hence, the food safety of aquatic products cannot be accurately evaluated, which creates a technical barrier against international aquatic product trade. In this study, for the first time, a method was developed for the analysis and confirmation of seven triazine herbicides and 13 metabolites in shellfish, based on alkaline acetonitrile extraction and neutral Al2O3 cartridge purification coupled with internal standard calibration. Specifically, quantitative and qualitative analysis was conducted using high-performance liquid chromatography-triple quadrupole mass spectrometry (HPLC-MS/MS), and accurate identification was carried out by quadrupole orbitrap high-resolution mass spectrometry (Q/E Orbitrap HRMS). The results showed that target analytes demonstrated good linearity within the corresponding range (R2 > 0.995). The limit of detection and limit of quantitation of the proposed method were 0.1 and 0.3 μg/kg, respectively. The average recoveries of analytes were between 70.0% and 120% when spiked at three levels with blank oyster (Crassostrea gigas) as the matrix, and the relative standard deviations (RSDs) were all less than 12% (n=6). The proposed method was successfully applied for the detection of triazine herbicide residues in oyster samples during actual breeding, and the presence of DIP, HP, DEHA, and other metabolites in positive samples was confirmed by Q/E Orbitrap HRMS. This method exhibits high accuracy, high sensitivity, and good reproducibility. It has promising application prospects in the field of hazard analysis and the positive identification of aquatic products.

Abstract:A rapid, efficient, simple, and high-throughput method for the simultaneous determination of 108 pesticide residues in three traditional Chinese medicines (TCMs) was established, comprising an improved QuEChERS method in combination with HPLC-MS/MS based on mixed samples. A quantity of 10 mL of acetonitrile was used as extraction solvent, and 10 mg of amino-modified multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs-NH2) and 150 mg of anhydrous magnesium sulfate (MgSO4) were selected as sorbents for dispersive solid phase extraction. The performance of the method was verified according to the analytical quality control standards of SANTE/11813/2017 guidelines. With good linearity (R2 > 0.9984) in the range of 2–200 μg/L for all pesticides in the selected matrices, and good accuracy, precision, and high sensitivity, the recoveries were in the range of 70–120% for more than 95% of the pesticides, with a relative standard deviation (RSD) of less than 16.82% for all. The limit of detection (LOD) and limit of quantification (LOQ) of the method were 0.01–3.87 μg/kg and 0.07–12.90 μg/kg, respectively, for Fritillaria thunbergii Miq (F. thunbergii), Chrysanthemum Morifolium Ramat (C. morifolium), and Dendrobium officinale Kimura et Migo (D. officinale). The method was successfully applied to 60 batches of actual samples from different regions.

Abstract:A robust and high-throughput method was developed for the determination of 108 pesticide residues in Traditional Chinese Medicines (TCMs) simultaneously using a combination of UHPLC-MS/MS analysis and the modified QuEChERS method. Extraction was carried out in acetonitrile containing 0.75% (v/v) acetic acid with ultrasonication for 15 min; MgSO4 and C18 were used as the dispersive-solid phase extraction sorbents. The method exhibited good linearity (r2>0.9901) , in addition to good selectivity, precision and repeatability. More than 92% of pesticides exhibited high rates or recovery in the 70%-120% range. This method showed high sensitivity, with Limits of Quantitation in the 0.01-20 ng/mL range in Cortex Moutan, and 0.01-50 ng/mL in the other TCMs. The method was employed for the analysis of 39 real samples from different habitats, and pesticides were detected in 92.3% of the samples, with 26 pesticides being detected in these three TCMs. More than four pesticides were detected in a third of the samples. Among them, tebuconazole was detected in all the three TCMs with 0.22-22.02 μg/kg concentration, which was lower than the provisions in GB 2763-2019 (50 μg/kg). In addition, the paclobutrazol detection rate in Ophiopogon japonicus was 100%, and the detected concentrations of 9 samples exceeded the Maximum Residue Levels defined for vegetables (50 μg/kg). Considering there are no regulations that govern the limits of pesticide residues in the three TCMs in China, we recommend the acceleration of efforts to introduce appropriate regulations.

Abstract:Tsampa may contain pesticide residues and mycotoxins, which may pose a risk to human health. Currently, pesticides and mycotoxins detection are two independent experiments. To improve the efficiency of the analysis, a method based on QuEChERS combined with ultra-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (UPLC-MS/MS) for the simultaneous determination of 78 pesticides and 16 mycotoxins in tsampa was developed. All the target compounds showed good linear correlation with correlation coefficients (R2) greater than 0.9990. The limits of detection (LODs) and limits of quantification (LOQs) were in the ranges of 0.12-3 μg/kg and 0.4-10 μg/kg, respectively. The average recovery of the pesticides and mycotoxins spiked at the 1, 2, and 10-fold LOQ were in the range of 73.0-115.2%, and the relative standard deviations (RSDs) were lower than 11.7%. This method was applied to 19 batches of real samples in which 32% of samples exceeded the maximum residue limits of European Union involving aflatoxin G2, ochratoxin A, and hexaconazole. It proved to be excellent efficient, greatly simplified, and highly applicable, which could reduce the workload and time significantly for the daily monitoring of the pesticides and mycotoxins in tsampa.

Abstract:Based on a modified quick, easy, cheap, effective, rugged and safe (QuEChERS) sample preparation method with Fe3O4 magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) as the adsorbing material and gas chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (GC-MS/MS) determination in multiple reaction monitoring (MRM) mode, we established a new method for the determination of multiple pesticides in vegetables and fruits. It was determined that bare MNPs have excellent function as adsorbent when purified, and it is better to be separated from the extract. The amount of MNPs influenced the clean-up performance and recoveries. To achieve the optimum performance of modified QuEChERS towards the target analytes, several parameters including the amount of the adsorbents and purification time were investigated. Under the optimum conditions, recoveries were evaluated in four representative matrices (tomato, cucumber, orange and apple) with the spiked concentrations of 10 μg kg(-1), 50 μg kg(-1)and 200 μg kg(-1) in all cases. The results showed that the recovery of 101 pesticides ranged between 71.5 and 111.7%, and the relative standard deviation was less than 10.5%. The optimum clean-up system improved the purification efficiency and simultaneously obtained satisfactory recoveries of multiple pesticides, including planar-ring pesticides. In short, the modified QuEChERS method in addition to MNPs used for removing impurities improved the speed of sample pre-treatment and exhibited an enhanced performance and purifying effect.

Abstract:A novelty high-throughput semi-automatic sample clean-up method was developed and used for rapid analysis of 9 drug residues in fish muscle tissues combined with high-performance liquid chromatography/quadrupole-linear ion trap mass spectrometry (HPLC-QTRAP-MS/MS). The target compounds were extracted by Quick, Easy, Cheap, Effective, Rugged and Safe multiresidue (QuEChERS) method with acetonitrile. A vortex oscillating clean-up column was proposed for single step purification firstly. After centrifugation, 1 mL of acetonitrile layer was transferred into a 3 mL vortex oscillating clean-up column which packed with 150 mg C18 sorbent. The column was covered with piston, placed on a column-tube rack, vigorously agitated on a multi-tube vortex mixer. After vortex oscillation, purified extract was obtained for analysis by pushing the piston of oscillating clean-up column. The performance of the developed method was validated by analyzing 9 analytes in spiked grass carp muscle tissues. The limits of quantification (LOQs) ranged from 1.0 to 5.0 μg kg−1. The recoveries were in the range of 101–119% at the four concentration levels (2.0, 5.0, 10.0, 20.0 μg kg−1). Inter-day and intra-day relative standard deviations (RSDs) were lower than 16% for all analytes.

Abstract:This study established novel and high-throughput strategies for the simultaneous analysis of 30 fluorinated emerging pollutants in different matrices from the shrimp aquaculture system in eastern China using UHPLC-MS/MS. The parameters of SPE for analysis of water samples and of QuEChERS methods for sediment and shrimp samples were optimized to allow the simultaneous detection and quantitation of 17 per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) and 13 fluoroquinolones (FQs). Under the optimal conditions, the limits of detection of 30 pollutants for water, sediment, and shrimp samples were 0.01–0.30 ng/L, 0.01–0.22 μg/kg, and 0.01–0.23 μg/kg, respectively, while the limits of quantification were 0.04–1.00 ng/L, 0.03–0.73 μg/kg, and 0.03–0.76 μg/kg, with satisfactory recoveries and intra-day precision. The developed methods were successfully applied to the analysis of multiple samples collected from aquaculture ponds in eastern China. PFASs were detected in all samples with concentration ranges of 0.18–0.77 μg/L in water, 0.13–1.41 μg/kg (dry weight) in sediment, and 0.09–0.96 μg/kg (wet weight) in shrimp, respectively. Only two FQs, ciprofloxacin and enrofloxacin, were found in the sediment and shrimp. In general, this study provides valuable insights into the prevalence of fluorinated emerging contaminants, assisting in the monitoring and control of emerging contaminants in aquatic foods.
