Abstract:Objective:To observe the effects of transurethral split of the prostate (TUSP) on the urodynamics, the sexual function and the quality of life of benign prostatic hyperplasia.Methods:Eighty patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia admitted to the Deqing People′s Hospital of Zhejiang Province from January 2017 to June 2019 were enrolled into the research objects prospectively. According to the random digits table method, they were divided into group A and group B, with 40 cases in each group. The group A was treated with TUSP, while the group B was treated with bipolar transurethral plasma kinetic prostatectomy (TUPKP). The operation time, intraoperative blood loss, bladder irrigation time, urinary catheter indwelling time, hospitalization time of the two groups were compared and surgical effects were evaluated. The changes of hemoglobin (Hb), serum sodium (Na), post-void residual volume (PVR), maximum urinary flow rate (Q max), international prostate symptom score (IPSS) and international index of erectile function score (IIEF-5), the quality of life index (QOL) of 2 groups before and after the operation were measured. Surgical complications were recorded. Results:The operation time, bladder irrigation time, urinary catheter indwelling time and hospital stay in group A were all shorter than that in group B: (15.63 ± 4.17) min vs. (58.79 ± 10.45) min, (6.26 ± 1.17) h vs. (45.51 ± 10.03) h, (3.07 ± 0.68) d vs. (5.67 ± 1.51) d, (3.63 ± 0.43) d vs. (6.08 ± 1.72) d, (18.32 ± 2.79) ml vs. (65.26 ± 20.64) ml, and there were statistical differences ( P<0.05); there were no statistical difference between 2 groups in surgical curative effect grade and Na 1 d after operation ( P>0.05); 1 day after operation, Hb in group A was higher than that in group B: (115.63 ± 9.78) g/L vs. (109.65 ± 8.36) g/L, and there was statistical difference ( P<0.05); PVR, Q max, IPSS, IIEF-5 and QOL 3 and 6 months after surgery were improved in 2 groups ( P<0.05), but the difference between 2 groups was not statistically significant ( P>0.05); the total complication rate in group A was lower than that in group B: 10.00% (4/40) vs. 27.50% (11/40), and there was statistical difference ( P<0.05). Conclusions:TUSP and TUPKP are equally effective in the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia, both of which can improve the symptoms of prostatic hyperplasia, improve the quality of life and improve sexual function. But TUSP has less intraoperative bleeding, shorter operation time, faster postoperative recovery, fewer complications, and higher safety.
Clinical Analysis of Iatrogenic Ureteral Injury and Bladder Injury

Abstract:Objective To investigate the etiology and treatment of iatrogenic ureteral injury(IUI) and bladder injury(IBI). Methods Forty-seven patients(7 males, 40 females) with ureteral and bladder inju-ries caused as a result of any medical procedures were reviewed from 1996 to 2007. Obstetrics and gynecolog-ical, urological,general surgical procedures were involved in 38, 6, and 4 of the injuries respectively. Re-sults Sixteen cases of IUI were found during operation, including 14 cases of entire ureteral laceration, 4 cases of partial ureteral laceration. Thirteen cases received ureteral anastomosis, one case received uretero-neopyelostomy. One case of ureteral perforations during ureteroscopic procedure was indweUed of double-J after the operation was terminated immediately. Three cases received nephrectomy. Four cases of lower ure-teric suture ligation and three cases of ureterovaginal fistula were detected at 3 days～ one week of postopera-tion. These 7 cases were received ureteroneocystomy during 2 weeks after the initial surgical procedure. Nineteen cases of IBI were found during operation, the length of cystic wound was ranging from 1 cm to 3 cm. 17 cases underwent repairing, 2 eases of bladder perforation which caused by endourologic or TVT procedure received catheterization for 1 week. Five cases of vesicovaginal fistula which were found during one week--one month of post-operation, were received fistula resection and bladder repairing 3 months after of initial operation. Forty-seven cases were follow-up ranging from 5 months to 11 years after the second opera-tion,mean time were 47 months. All cases were recovered. Conclusions Intraoperative findings and effec-tive treatments can achieve good therapeutic effects and avoid injury during secondary operation. Correct treatment of urinary fistula can promote cure rate.
Effects of continuing nursing care under cognitive behavioral intervention on psychological state and living quality in patients with double J catheter after ureterolithiasis surgery

Abstract:Objective: The effects of continuing nursing care under cognitive behavioral intervention on the psychological state and living quality of patients with double J catheter after ureterolithiasis surgery were analyzed in this research. Methods: The research subjects in this study were 142 patients who were discharged from our hospital with a double J tube after ureterolithiasis surgeries from June 2019 to June 2020. According to the patient care plan, the subjects were divided into the control group (n=71) and the observation group (n=71) and respectively treated with routine basic nursing measures and continuing nursing care under cognitive-behavior intervention. Subsequently, the psychological state, living quality and the complications that occurred were compared between the two groups. Results: The depression and anxiety scores of the two groups after 4 weeks of intervention, comparing to thoes before intervention, were seen with remarkably decreased significance (P<0.05). The scores of living quality and self-care quality of patients in the observation group were obviously higher than those in the control group (P<0.05). In addition, the incidence of complications in the observation group was critically lower than that in control group (P<0.05). Conclusion: Continuous nursing care under cognitive behavioral intervention can substantially improve the psychological state, living quality and self-care ability of patients with double J tube after ureterolithiasis surgery, and reduce the incidence of complications, which is worthy of clinic promotion.
Continuous Psychological Nursing Based on Grey Clustering Algorithm in Patients after Transurethral Resection of Prostate

Abstract:Objective: To explore the effect of continuous psychological nursing based on the grey clustering algorithm on erectile function, bad psychological emotion, and complications in patients after transurethral resection of prostate (TURP). Methods: 98 patients who underwent TURP were randomly divided into observation and control groups (routine nursing). The observation group first used the grey clustering algorithm to evaluate the psychological intelligence, found patients with abnormal psychological behavior, and then implemented continuous psychological nursing combined with pelvic floor muscle exercise. The patients were followed up for 4 months. The International Index of Erectile Function-5 (IIEF-5), the incidence of complications, the Hamilton Depression Scale (HAMD), the Hamilton Anxiety Scale (HAMA) scores, and the nursing satisfaction were analyzed and compared between these two groups. Results: The grey clustering algorithm can accurately reflect the characteristics of patients' psychological changes. After targeted nursing, compared with the control group, the IIEF-5 in the observation group was higher [(24.87 ± 1.85) vs. (22.24 ± 1.47), P < 0.05], the incidence of total complications was lower (10.20% vs. 26.53%, P < 0.05), the score of HAMA was lower [(6.11 ± 2.57) vs. (10.98 ± 2.29), P < 0.05], the score of HAMD was lower [(6.97 ± 2.85) vs. (11.35 ± 2.19), P < 0.05], and the nursing satisfaction was higher (100% vs. 85.71%, P < 0.05). Conclusion: Mental intelligence evaluation based on the grey clustering algorithm combined with pelvic floor muscle exercise can significantly improve the rehabilitation effect of erectile function in patients after TURP, reduce the incidence of postoperative complications, and alleviate patients' anxiety and depression.
Effect of precise nursing service mode on postoperative urinary incontinence prevention in patients with prostate disease

Abstract:BACKGROUND: Patients with benign prostatic disease often experience detrusor morphological changes and dysfunction. In severe cases, it leads to bladder detrusor dysfunction, resulting in dysuria, frequent urination, urgent urination, incomplete urination, and other symptoms including renal function injury. An operation to restore normal urination function and to control postoperative complications, as far as possible, is the most common method for benign prostatic disease.AIM: To observe the effect of precise nursing service mode on postoperative urinary incontinence prevention in patients with prostate disease.METHODS: In total, 130 patients diagnosed with benign prostatic disease, from January 2018 to June 2021, in our hospital, were selected and divided into observation and control groups according to their treatment options. Sixty-five cases in the control group were given routine nursing mode intervention and 65 cases in the observation group received precise nursing service mode intervention. The intervention with the observation group included psychological counseling about negative emotions, pelvic floor exercises, and post-hospital discharge care. The complications of the two groups were counted, and the general postoperative conditions of the two groups were recorded. The urinary flow dynamics indexes of the two groups were detected, and differences in clinical international prostate system score (IPSS) and urinary incontinence quality of life questionnaire (I-QOL) scores were evaluated.RESULTS: Postoperative exhaust time (18.65 ± 3.23 h and 24.63 ± 4.51 h), the time of indwelling catheter (4.85 ± 1.08 d and 5.63 ± 1.24 d), and hospitalization time (8.78 ± 2.03 d and 10.23 ± 2.28 d) in the observation group were lower than in the control group. The difference was statistically significant (P < 0.05). After the operation, the maximum urinary flow rate (Qmax) increased (P < 0.05), the residual urine volume (RUV) decreased (P < 0.05), and the maximum closed urethral pressure (MUCP) was not statistically significant (P > 0.05) compared to pre-operation. The Qmax of the observation group was higher than that of the control group, while the RUV was lower than that of the control group. There was no significant difference in MUCP between the observation and control groups (P > 0.05). The I-QOL score of the two groups improved (P < 0.05), and the IPSS decreased (P < 0.05). After the operation, the I-QOL score of the observation group was higher than that of the control group, and the IPSS was lower than that of the control group (P < 0.05). There were no significant differences in the incidence of urethral injury (1.54% and 3.08%), bladder spasm (0.00% and 1.54%), and secondary bleeding (1.54% and 4.62) between the observation and control groups (P > 0.05).CONCLUSION: The precise nursing service mode can reduce the incidence of postoperative urinary incontinence in patients with prostate disease, thus improving postoperative urodynamics and rehabilitation, and quality of life.

Abstract:Objective To observe the effect of cluster nursing based on risk management strategy in the management of urinary tract infection in patients with severe craniocerebral injury. Methods A total of 116 patients with severe craniocerebral injury who were admitted to our hospital from March 2019 to March 2021 were included. They were divided into the control group (58 patients) and the observation group (58 patients). The control group received routine nursing care and the observation group received cluster nursing based on risk management strategy. The incidence of catheter-associated urinary tract infection (CAUTI), the results of bacterial culture on the surface of the urinary catheter, the incidence of nursing risk events, the duration of placing the urinary catheter, the length of hospital stay, and hospital costs as well as the patient satisfaction score were compared between the two groups. The knowledge, attitude, and practice scale for prevention of catheter infection and the competence evaluation scale of nurses were used to evaluate the sense-control ability and core competence of the interveners. Results The total incidence of CAUTI in the observation group was (6.90%) lower than that in the control group (20.69%) ( p < 0.05). The bacterial culture results on the catheter surface of patients in the observation group before and after 6 and 12 h of catheter cleaning were better than those of patients in the control group ( p < 0.05). The duration of indwelling urinary catheter, hospitalization time, and hospitalization expenses of patients in the observation group were lower than those of patients in the control group ( p < 0.05). The incidence rate of nursing risk events in the observation group was (1.72%) lower than that in the control group (11.86%) ( p < 0.05). The overall satisfaction score of patients and the control and core ability scores of nursing staff in the observation group were higher than those in the control group ( p < 0.05). Conclusion Cluster nursing based on risk management strategy can effectively reduce the incidence of nursing risk events and the probability of UTI in patients with severe craniocerebral injury, shorten the duration of indwelling urinary catheter and hospitalization.

Abstract:Objective: To explore and analyze the clinical effect of comprehensive nursing intervention in patients with urinary incontinence after radical prostatectomy. Methods: 84 patients with urinary incontinence after radical prostatectomy admitted to the Urology Department between May 2021 and May 2023 were included in this study. The patients were divided into a comprehensive group and a control group, with 42 cases in each group through a double-blind mechanism. The comprehensive group received comprehensive nursing care, and the control group received primary nursing care. The duration of indwelling urinary catheters and urinary incontinence; psychological performance and living conditions were compared between the two groups. Results: The duration of the indwelling urinary catheter and urinary incontinence of the patients in the comprehensive group were significantly shorter than that in the control group (P 0.05); after nursing, the comprehensive group’s anxiety, depression, and other psychological manifestations of the comprehensive group were significantly lower than those of the control group (P 0.05); after nursing, the physical function, mental state, emotional state, physical recovery of the patients in the comprehensive group were significantly better than those of the control group. Besides, the living conditions of the patients in the comprehensive group were also significantly better than the control group’s (P < 0.05). Conclusion: Comprehensive nursing intervention can effectively improve symptoms of urinary incontinence after radical prostatectomy, reduce inner pressure, and improve living standards.
A Novel Tubeless Urinary Catheter Protocol Enhanced Recovery after Minimally Invasive Lung Surgery

Abstract:Objectives: Although previous studies have shown the feasibility of non-intubated techniques, it is unknown whether avoiding urinary catheters can enhance recovery. This study aimed to determine whether the tubeless urinary catheter protocol is feasible and beneficial for minimally invasive lung surgery. Methods: Patients were randomized to the control group, completely tubeless group, and partially tubeless group. A propensity score-matched (PSM) analysis was performed to balance the non-random baseline characteristics. Complications and postoperative recovery were compared. Regression analysis was performed to identify the independent predictors of complications. A nomogram for predicting the risk of non-automatic micturition was constructed and internally validated. Results: One hundred fifty-nine patients were enrolled. The incidence rates of urinary irritation and urinary tract infection (UTI) were significantly lower in the tubeless groups (74.4 vs. 39.5%, p < 0.001; 28.2 vs. 8.6%, p = 0.001, respectively). The tubeless group had a higher proportion of 0-degree discomfort (81.5 vs. 30.8%, p = 0.001) and shorter duration of postoperative hospital stay than the control group (4.59 vs. 5.53 days, p < 0.001). No difference was observed in terms of urination retention and urinary incontinence between the tubeless group and the control group. After PSM, the advantages of the tubeless group still existed, and comparing to the partially tubeless group, the completely tubeless group was of even less UTI and more 0-degree discomfort (18.5 vs. 0.0%, p = 0.019; 96.3 vs. 59.3%, p = 0.002). The tubeless protocol was the only independent protective factor of urinary complications. A nomogram was constructed and showed good predictive ability. Conclusions: The tubeless catheterization protocol led to fewer complications, better compliance, and shorter hospital length of stay. The advantages were more significant with the completely tubeless protocol. The utility of our nomogram can assist clinicians in avoiding risks in performing the tubeless protocol.
Impact of short-term comprehensive intervention in operating room on anxiety of the patients and intraoperative cooperation in the transurethral resection of prostate

Abstract:Objective: To investigate the impact of short-term comprehensive intervention in operating room on anxiety of elderly patients and intraoperative cooperation in the transurethral resection of prostate(TURP).Methods: 160 elderly patients were randomly divided into a control group and an experimental group(80 cases in each group).The routine nursing care was implemented in the control group and the short-term comprehensive interventions in operating room were carried out in the experimental group,including psychological intervention,behavioral intervention,reminding and informing patients.Self-rating Anxiety Scale(SAS) was used to assess the patients' conditions in both groups before and after intervention,recording one time success rate of intraoperative cooperation(venous catheterization,epidural catheterization),intraoperative discomfort(postural discomfort,nausea,vomiting,chest tightness and breathing difficulties).Results: There was no statistically significant difference in the comparison of anxiety of the patients between the two groups after they were sent into operating room(P>0.05),and the difference was statistically significant after the interventions(P<0.05);one time success rate of venous catheterization was higher in the experimental group than the control group(P<0.01);the postural discomfort was lower in the experimental group than the control group(P<0.05);there were not statistically significant differences in the comparison of one time success rate of epidural catheterization,nausea,vomiting,chest tightness and breathing difficulties between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion: The short-term comprehensive interventions in operating room can reduce the degree of patient's anxiety so that the establishment of venous access and anesthesia puncture operation will be smoother and the process of surgery more stable,by which a good foundation will be laid for postoperative recovery of the patients.

Timing of male urethral injury treatment in patients with polytrauma: A retrospective study

Abstract:Introduction: Male urethral injuries are uncommon, and the ideal timing of the definitive treatment remains controversial. This study aimed to compare the outcomes of early and delayed interventions (1 month or more after the injury) for male urethral injuries. Patient and methods: We conducted a retrospective review of the medical records of 67 male patients with urethral injuries treated at our institution between 2011 and 2020. We examined patient age, injury severity score (ISS), abbreviated injury scale, mechanism, location and severity of injury, presence of pelvic fractures, surgical interventions, timing of treatment, and complications. We analysed factors associated with urinary complications based on the location of urethral injury. Additionally, we performed a subset analysis of patients with severe injuries (ISS≥16) to assess the impact of delayed surgery. Results: Overall, 47 %, 37 %, and 27 % of patients in the delayed treatment group (N = 30) had urethral stricture (US), erectile dysfunction (ED), and/or urinary incontinence (UI). These rates were greater than the 22 % US, 3 % ED, and 11 % UI rates in the early treatment group (N = 37). The subgroup analysis revealed that patients with anterior urethral injury (AUI) who underwent delayed treatment (N = 18) tended to be more severely injured (ISS, 19 vs 9, p = 0.003) and exhibited higher rates of US (44% vs 21 %, p = 0.193) and ED (39% vs 0 %, p = 0.002) than those who received early treatment (N = 24). In the case of posterior urethral injury (PUI), the delayed treatment group (N = 13) had higher rates of US (50% vs 23 %, p = 0.326), ED (33% vs 8 %, p = 0.272), and UI (42% vs 0 %, p = 0.030) than the early treatment group. Regarding study limitations, more than 45 % of the enrolled patients were severely injured (ISS≥16), which may have potentially influenced the timing of urethral injury repair. Conclusions: The treatment of male urethral injuries may be delayed due to concurrent polytrauma and other associated injuries. However, delayed treatment is associated with higher rates of urinary complications. Early treatment of urethral injuries may be beneficial to male patients with urethral trauma, even in cases of severe injury.
Effect of Psychological Intervention on Pelvic Floor Function and Psychological Outcomes After Hysterectomy

Abstract:Background Hysterectomy is one of the most frequently performed operations worldwide. However, postoperative complications and body image changes may induce psychological distress after hysterectomy. The study aimed to evaluate the effect of psychological intervention on pelvic floor function and psychological outcomes following hysterectomy among patients with benign indications. Methods Ninety-nine patients underwent hysterectomy were randomly divided into intervention group ( n = 50) and control group ( n = 49). Patients in the control group received routine postoperative nursing care, while extra psychological intervention was provided to patients in the intervention group, including psychological support, regular lectures and family support. After 6 months, patient's psychological statuses were assessed by Generalized Anxiety Disorder scale (GAD-7) and Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9). The pelvic floor function of patients was evaluated using Pelvic Floor Impact Questionnaire (PFIQ-7) and Pelvic Organ Prolapse/Urinary Incontinence Sexual Questionnaire (PISQ-12). Furthermore, the incidence of postoperative complications, including uracratia, pelvic organ prolapses, sexual dysfunction and chronic pelvic pain, was evaluated. Results After 6-month intervention, the GAD-7 and PHQ-9 scores were significantly decreased in the intervention group ( p < 0.001 and p = 0.018 respectively). Both scored were significantly lower than that in the control group ( p < 0.001 and p < 0.001). Compared with control group, the incidence of uracratia, pelvic organ prolapse, sexual dysfunction and chronic pelvic pain for intervention group was significantly lower ( p = 0.003, p = 0.027, p = 0.001, p = 0.002 respectively) and the pelvic floor muscle strength was significantly stronger ( p = 0.001). Besides, the postoperative Urinary Incontinence Impact Questionnaire (UIQ-7), Pelvic Organ Prolapse Impact Questionnaire (POPIQ-7), and Colorectal-Anal Impact Questionnaire (CRAIQ-7) scores were significantly lower ( p = 0.025, p = 0.04, p < 0.001) and PISQ-12 score was significantly higher in intervention group ( p < 0.001). Conclusion Psychological intervention could effectively improve the psychological condition of patients with hysterectomy, which may facilitate patients' postoperative recovery in pelvic floor function. These findings emphasized the necessity of psychological intervention in routine postoperative nursing care.

Abstract:Objective: To investigate the therapeutic utility of psychological nursing interventions for prostatic hyperplasia clients while they are receiving therapy. Methods: Clinical data of 110 patients with prostate group hyperplasia who underwent treatment in our hospital were collected and analysed retrospectively, and the selected period was from October 2021 to October 2023. The 110 cases of prostate group hyperplasia patients were divided into a research group and a control group according to the different methods of care, and each group had 55 cases each. The research group received psychological nursing intervention based on the conventional nursing care given to the control group. The total treatment compliance rate and contentment with nursing were contrasted between the research and control groups, and changes in the Self Rating Anxiety Scale (SAS) score, Self Rating Depression Scale (SDS) score, Health Survey Short Form score, and sleep problems were observed between the research group and the control group. Results: The research group's overall compliance rate was 94.55% (52/53), a substantial increase over the control group's rate, 69.09% (38/55), P < 0.01. Following nursing, the research group's SAS and SDS scores were considerably more reduced than those of the control group, and both groups' scores were substantially lower than they were prior to nursing (P < 0.05). Conclusion: This retrospective study found that psychological nursing intervention applied to patients with prostatic hyperplasia can effectively improve the patient's compliance with treatment, effectively reduce the occurrence of negative emotions, improve the patient's quality of life, and improve sleep problems. In addition, psychological nursing intervention can effectively alleviate the tension between nurses and patients, and is worthy of clinical application.
Effect of a Collaborative Medical-Nursing Catheter Removal Protocol on Incidence of Urinary Tract Infections in Urology Patients: A Retrospective Study

Abstract:Objective: Urology patients are often placed with a catheter following surgery. Hence, a high-quality and appropriate management and removal programme can considerably reduce catheter-associated complications such as urinary tract infections and improve patient comfort. This retrospective study investigated the impact of a collaborative medical-nursing catheter removal protocol on reducing the incidence of urinary tract infections in urological surgery patients. Methods: Patients who underwent partial nephrectomy at our hospital between January 2021 and December 2022 were enrolled and allocated to a control and an observation group based on the method of urinary catheter removal. A physician was solely responsible for monitoring, evaluating, and removing the catheter in the control group, whereas a physician and nurses performed these catheter management activities in the observation group. The two groups were compared in terms of urinary tract infections, urinary tract irritation and hematuria signs, pain levels, and catheter retention time. Results: A total of 178 patients were included, among which 88 were divided into the control group and 90 into the observation group according to their corresponding urinary catheter removal method entered into the medical records system. The general characteristics of the two groups were similar (p > 0.05). However, the rates of urinary tract infections and urinary tract irritation and hematuria signs in the observation group were lower than those in the control group (1.11% vs. 9.09%, χ2 = 5.902, p = 0.037; 5.55% vs. 15.91%, χ2 = 4.159, p = 0.041, respectively). The observation group also exhibited lower levels of urinary pain within 1 h post-catheter removal and shorter total catheter retention time than the control group (t = 2.497, p = 0.013; t = 2.316, p = 0.022, respectively). Conclusions: Collaborative medical-nursing catheter removal protocols for patients undergoing partial nephrectomy may effectively alleviate urinary pain, decrease the incidence of urinary tract infections and irritation and hematuria signs, and shorten catheter retention time, underscoring the clinical significance of its implementation in this specific population.
Effect of Psychological Intervention Combined with Family Cooperation on the Perioperative Quality of Life and Psychological States of Elderly Patients with Prostate Cancer Treated with Compound Kushen Injection

Abstract:Objective. The purpose of the study was to investigate the nursing effect of psychological intervention combined with family cooperation on elderly patients with prostate cancer treated with compound kushen injection and put forward effective suggestions. Methods. 122 elderly patients with prostate cancer admitted to our hospital from June 2018 to June 2019 were selected and randomly divided into a control group (n = 61) and experimental group (n = 61). The patients in the control group received routine nursing intervention during the perioperative period, while the patients in the experimental group were treated with psychological intervention combined with family cooperation on the basis of routine nursing. The quality of life and psychological states of patients in the two groups were statistically analyzed. Results. The evaluation of psychological states at 24 hours before surgery and 24 hours before discharge in the experimental group was significantly better than that in the control group ( P < 0.05 ), with statistical significance. On comparing the basic conditions between the two groups in the perioperative period, the length of hospitalization, length of catheter retention after surgery, and incidence of complications in the experimental group were all significantly better than those in the control group ( P < 0.05 ), with statistical significance. The satisfaction of patients with the nursing process in both groups was recorded and statistically analyzed through questionnaires. The satisfaction with nursing process in the experimental group was significantly higher than that in the control group ( P < 0.05 ), with statistical significance. The quality of life of the patients was followed up at three months after discharge. The quality of life of the experimental group was significantly better than that of the control group ( P < 0.05 ), with statistical significance. Conclusion. Psychological intervention combined with family cooperation for the elderly patients with prostate cancer treated with compound kushen injection is beneficial to improve their psychological states, encourage them to face the disease in a more positive manner, effectively improve the quality of life after intervention, ensure the therapeutic effect during perioperative period, increase happiness index, and enhance their satisfaction with the nursing process, which is worthy of clinical application and popularization.

Abstract:To evaluate the impact of perioperative comprehensive nursing intervention on postoperative urinary incontinence, various aspects of patient well-being were assessed. The comprehensive group, that received the nursing intervention, demonstrated significant improvements in self-care skills, health knowledge level, self-care responsibility, and self-concept compared to the standard group. The findings indicate that perioperative comprehensive nursing intervention has a remarkable effect on patients undergoing laparoscopic radical prostatectomy. This nursing intervention not only effectively improves postoperative urinary incontinence and alleviates negative emotions, such as anxiety and depression. Therefore, the implementation of this nursing intervention model is highly recommended for clinical practice and wider application.

Abstract:Objective: To evaluate the application of a rehabilitation management protocol for urinary incontinence after robot-assisted laparoscopic prostatectomy (RALP). Methods: We conducted a retrospective cohort study of 114 patients who underwent RALP between August 2021 and November 2021 as the control group and a prospective analysis of 114 patients who underwent RALP between May 2022 and August 2022 as the experimental group. The rehabilitation management protocol focused on preoperative stage, postoperative care, day of catheter removal, 1 month postoperative, 3 months postoperative, 6 months postoperative, and 12 months or more postoperative. Results: The 24-h pad test was significantly lower in the experimental group compared with the control group at 2 and 6 months after RALP (both P < 0.01). The scores of the international consultation on incontinence questionnaire-short form (ICIQ-SF) in the experimental group were significantly lower than those in the control group at 1 month after RALP (P < 0.01).The scores of quality of life in the experimental group were significantly higher than those of the control group at 1, 2, and 6 months after RALP (all P < 0.01).The scores of Broome Pelvic Muscle Self-efficacy Scale (BPMSES) were lower than those of the control group at 1, 2, 3, and 6 months after RALP (all P < 0.01). Conclusion: The application of the rehabilitation management protocol had significant beneficial effects on urinary functions and quality of life in patients with prostate cancer after RALP.
Analysis of the nursing value of continuity care in the recovery of ureteral stone patients after Pneumatic ballistic lithotripsy: An observational study

Abstract:This study aims to assess nursing methods' effects on ureteral stone patients post-Pneumatic ballistic lithotripsy with double J-tube placement. Through comparing interventions' impact on recovery, complications, and overall quality of life, the study aims to establish a more effective nursing protocol for this patient group. This study investigates ureteral stone patients who underwent PL and subsequent double J-tube placement between January 2020 and October 2023. A total of 100 eligible subjects (n = 100), meeting the inclusion and exclusion criteria, were divided into an intervention group (n1 = 50) and a control group (n2 = 50) according to different treatments. The control group received routine in-hospital care combined with outpatient follow-up, while the intervention group underwent continuous care using the Omaha system. Nursing effects pre- and post-intervention were assessed using questionnaires, clinical indicators, and the Omaha evaluation system, evaluating aspects such as cognition, behavior, and status in terms of environment, psychosocial aspects, physiology, and health behavior. Additionally, complications during double J-tube placement and pain scores were compared among the patients. Prior to the intervention, no statistically significant differences were observed between the scores of both groups across environmental, psychosocial, physiological, and health behavioral domains. Subsequent to the nursing intervention on the first postoperative day, at discharge, and post-discharge, a statistically significant variance was evident between the groups across these domains (P < .05). Furthermore, the intervention group exhibited notably lower rates of infection, hematuria, and residual or fragmented stones, all significantly lower with a P-value of <.05, compared to the control group. While a reduction in tissue damage and acute kidney injury was observed in the intervention group compared to the control group, this difference did not reach statistical significance. Notably, 92% of patients in the intervention group reported no pain during the nursing intervention, in contrast to only 52% in the control group. Continuity care utilizing the Omaha system demonstrates favorable outcomes in managing double J stent placement post-PL among ureteral stone patients, notably leading to a significant reduction in both pain levels and the incidence of associated complications.
Preoperative Risk Factors for Early Postoperative Urinary Continence Recovery after Non-Nerve-sparing Radical Prostatectomy in Chinese Patients: a Single Institute Retrospective Analysis

Abstract:Urinary incontinence (UI) remained a significant complication after radical prostatectomy and led to impaired quality of life. Early continence is a goal to take into consideration for better patient satisfaction after radical prostatectomy. To identify the independent preoperative risk factors associated with UI after radical prostatectomy (RP), we evaluated 446 patients treated with non-nerve-sparing RP between 2010 and 2013 at our institution. The incontinence rate was 98.7% and 46.6% after catheter removal and 3 months after surgery, respectively. We examined several preoperative factors including age, smoking, body mass index (BMI), comorbidities such as hypertension and diabetes, preoperative prostate-specific antigen (PSA) level, Gleason score, and preoperative pelvic floor muscle exercise (PFME). The results suggested preoperative PFME was the only independent protective risk factor for immediate continence after catheter removal. At 3 month following surgery, age at surgery represented a risk factor for delayed continence, while BMI and preoperative PFME were the protective risk factors for postoperative UI. Our results supported that age and preoperative PFME were predictive factors for early continence after RP. These findings could help clinicians to counsel men and their partners about postoperative incontinence.
