Abstract:Selective noxious gas sensing at low temperature is very important in some industrial applications. Here, we demonstrate that the reduced graphene oxide (RGO) wrapped Au@ZnO core-shell composite can be fabricated in wafer-level and used as the key sensor materials for triethylamine sensing with a high response of 12.2% for 5 ppm of TEA gas at a low temperature (50 degrees C). The sensitivity of RGO/Au/ZnO sensor to TEA gas achieved almost 6 times higher than that of ethanol and acetone, 5 times that of methanol and isopropanol, and 3 times that of ammonia. The selective sensing properties are largely attributed to the synergistic effect of the core-shell structure and the ZnO/RGO heterojunctions. This work provides a significant strategy for TEA gas sensor selective sensing arrays application at low temperatures. (C) 2018 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
Highly Selective Triethylamine Gas Sensor Based on ZnO/Ti3C2Tx MXene Self-Assembly Heterostructure

Abstract:MXenes, as new two-dimensional transition metal compounds, has become promising sensing materials due to the excellent metal conductivity, abundant adsorption sites and the terminal groups of -O, -OH and -F. In this study, we report the well-etched accordion-like Ti3C2Tx by removing Al layer in Ti3AlC2, where T-x represents a wealth of terminal functional groups (-OH, -F, -O, etc.). In addition, unique hierarchical self-assembly ZnO/Ti3C2Tx nanocomposites are synthesized by hydrothermal method. The Brunauer-Emmett-Teller Method investigation also shows that the ZnO/Ti3C2Tx nanocomposites has a specific surface area of about 22.08 m(2)/g, and the pore size is mainly located at 11.1 nm. The innovative nanostructure is conducive to the adsorption and response of gas molecules. By investigating the gas sensitive properties of the sensors, it is found that the response of the ZnO/Ti3C2Tx sensor to triethylamine (TEA) is improved by 66 times and 1.58 times over that of pure Ti3C2Tx and ZnO, and the optimal operating temperature is 60degree celsius lower than that of pure ZnO. In addition, the LOD (Low Of Detection) of about 32.7 ppb indicates that the ZnO/Ti3C2Tx sensor is suitable for the detection of low concentrations TEA. The sensing performances of the ZnO/Ti3C2Tx sensor at a high humidity of 75 % RH verifies the strong sensing performance in high humidity environment. Furthermore, the composite sensor stabilize in 6 repetitive tests and present slight decrease in response value over 30 days. The excellent TEA sensitive properties indicate that the ZnO/Ti3C2Tx nanocomposite sensor may have promising applications in the gas sensitive field.

Abstract:The detection of triethyl amine is necessary for environmental and human health concerns. However, sensitivity and selectivity are still challenges for real-time applications. Herein, ultrasensitive ZIF-8-derived Ag-sensitized ZnWO 4 /ZnO branched heterostructures were synthesized via a solvothermal-calcination process. The surface morphological investigation confirmed that ZnWO 4 nanorods randomly grown on 3D whiskers of ZnO and Ag nanoparticles are decorated, which enhanced the sensing performance by synergistic effect. The Ag@ZnWO 4 /ZnO sensor exhibited 56.15 sensor response towards 5 ppm of TEA at 80 °C, which is 3.86, 3.14, and 1.83 times over from ZIF-8, ZnO, and ZnWO 4 sensors respectively. Additionally, the sensitivity of Ag@ZnWO 4 /ZnO sensors for 1–5 ppm and 5–35 ppm range were found to be 11.96 and 13.78 response/ppm, respectively also, calculated limit of detection is 43 ppb earned. Furthermore, the fabricated sensor showed reliable consistency, outstanding repeatability, and stability. The surface area of branched heterostructure is high (83.39 g/cm 2 ) which enhances the interaction between TEA molecules to the sensing surface. Furthermore, the decoration of Ag nanoparticles is sensitized to a sensor and enhances the sensing performance.

Abstract:Gas sensors with high sensitivity, selectivity, stability, moisture resistance and reliable fabrication potency for detection of toxic and harmful gases have been now expected for many applications in the environment. Herein, a kind of triethylamine (TEA) gas sensors can quantitatively detect on ppb level gases is reported. The sensors were fabricated with porous lacunaris structure In2O3 derived from metal-organic frameworks In-MIL-68 by annealing at a suitable temperature 500 degrees C. It exhibited the highest response of 32 when exposed to 100 ppb TEA gas at the optimal operation temperature 120 degrees C, and the response and recovery time is 9 s and 36 s respectively. Furthermore, it also demonstrated outstanding selectivity, stability (without any change after 40 days) and moisture resistance (kept 86.2 % response at 90 % relative humidity). In addition, the good response linearity within a wide TEA concentration range of 0.1 ppm-5 ppm and lower detection limit are other advantages of the sensor. Considering these advantages, In-MIL-68 derived In2O3 sensor is a promising candidate for TEA detection. The gas sensing mechanism is also explored here.

Abstract:Triethylamine (TEA) sensors are an effective and powerful tool for real-time monitoring of TEA, and play an important role in early warning of production processes, environmental atmospheric monitoring and human health protection. In this paper, SnO 2 /ZnO complex oxide was prepared by calcining bimetallic organic frameworks (BMOFs) to improve both the selectivity, sensitivity and accuracy of TEA-sensing materials and devices. The results show that the obtained 5Sn5Zn complex oxide prepared by mol (Sn):mol (Zn) = 1:1 has excellent selective responsiveness, repeatability and longtime reliability stability to TEA gas at 270 °C Besides, the 5Sn5Zn complex oxide exhibits a rapid response/recovery performance to TEA at 100 ppm concentration ( T res / T rec = 4 s/60 s separately), especially at the high humidity of 40–90% relative humidity (RH), and the response degree of the 5Sn5Zn complex oxide to TEA only decreases by 17%. This may be the best TEA selective response stability achieved by SnO 2 /ZnO complex oxide material under high humidity conditions.

Abstract:<p>Monitoring and detection of triethylamine (TEA) gas are indispensable to environmental and human safety. However, TEA gas sensor suffers from low response. Herein, unique nanosized-Pt-decorated hierarchical ZnO microspheres were prepared. Compared with pristine ZnO microspheres and Pt-c-ZnO (Pt nanoparticles deposited on commercial ZnO), the obtained Pt-ZnO exhibited the best TEA gas sensing behaviors, in terms of lower working temperature (200 °C), better selectivity and long-term stability. Notably, the response value of Pt-ZnO sensor towards 100 ppm TEA was up to 242, which was 50 and 16-fold higher than those of pristine ZnO and Pt-c-ZnO sensor, respectively. The superior properties were attributed to structural advantages as well as the synergistic effect between Pt and ZnO. The sensing mechanism was thoroughly clarified by the electron-sinker effect of Pt. It was further corroborated by Kelvin probe and density function theory (DFT) simulation. Moreover, higher surface adsorption oxygen activity and lower TEA adsorption energy of this optimal sample were demonstrated by temperature programmed desorption (O<sub>2</sub>-TPD) and DFT simulation. Based on the aforementioned advantages, Pt-ZnO becomes a satisfactory candidate for TEA gas sensors. Significantly, this work opens a new avenue for the understanding the mechanism for performance enhancement under.</p>

Abstract:The performance of chemiresistive gas sensors greatly depends on the sensing materials. Till now, it is still a hot topic to develop high-performance sensing materials. In this study, hollow Fe2O3 octahedrons incorporated into porous In2O3 nanofibers (Fe2O3@In2O3) have been prepared using the electrospinning method, followed by thermal oxidation. Through the electrospinning technique, MIL-101(Fe) octahedrons are incorporated as sacrificial templates into the precursor nanofibers containing In3+. The precursor nanofibers are transformed into porous In2O3 nanofibers by calcination in air, and MIL-101(Fe) are simultaneously changed into hollow Fe2O3 octahedrons, forming Fe2O3@In2O3 nanofibers. Considering their unique morphology, the gas sensing properties of the prepared nanofibers are investigated. The results demonstrate that they exhibit high response and selectivity toward triethylamine (TEA) with a good stability. Furthermore, their dynamic sensing behaviors are investigated under the modulation of working temperature by triangular wave heating voltage. According to their characteristic response curves, TEA can be effectively discriminated among all the detected gases in combination with a simple principal component analysis (PCA)-based recognition algorithm. Additionally, TEA can be quantitatively analyzed through the relationship between its concentration and the response at the characteristic point of the response curves.

Abstract:Triethylamine, a crucial industrial raw material, poses significant threats to both the ecosystem and human health. However, detecting lower concentrations of TEA remains an arduous task. In this study, we report the facile hydrothermal and ultrasonic treatment synthesis of 2D SnSe2 micro-flower modified with 0D In2O3 nanoparticles to form SnSe2/In2O3 heterojunctions for the first time. The SnSe2/In2O3 sensor has a response value of 4.86 for 10 ppm TEA gas at 120 °C, with response and recovery times of 18 s and 79 s respectively, and detection limits as low as 100 ppb. In addition, the SnSe2/In2O3 sensor is essentially unaffected by humidity in the 30% RH to 60% RH range, and the SnSe2/In2O3 sensor response value decreases slightly in the 70% RH to 97% RH range, demonstrating excellent humidity tolerance. More importantly, the sensor maintained excellent cyclic-stability performance during a four-month cyclic stability test. The improved gas-sensitive performance can be attributed to the large number of n-n heterojunctions in the SnSe2/In2O3 material, which enhances the interfacial charge transfer, as well as the active-sites on the material surface. This work serves as a valuable complement to the TEA gas sensor and holds significant potential for detecting low concentrations of TEA at low temperatures in environmental sensing applications.

Abstract:Since poisonous and flammable characteristics of triethylamine (TEA), developing TEA sensor is increasingly essential to guarantee industrial production and life safety. Herein, a novel ZnS@ZnO (SO) core-shell nanostructure was prepared by a two-step method involving solvothermal and sintering procedure. X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy, energy dispersive spectroscopy investigation and Brunner−Emmet−Teller measurements revealed that the SO has a fine size of 25 nm in diameter and a thin shell of ZnO, with a large specific surface area of 28.3 m2/g. The gas sensitivity measurement showed that SO heterojunction not only has highly enhanced sensitivity and strong anti-humidity ability, but also significantly shortened the response and recovery time, compared to the ZnS sensor. The optimal sensitivity of the SO sensor is 74.65, and its response/recovery time is 3 s/176 s toward 100 ppm TEA at 200 °C. The enhanced sensing performance can be attributed to rapid electron flow and significant change in the electron depletion layer at the n-n heterojunction interface between ZnS and ZnO. Therefore, the SO sensor possesses a promising application prospect in TEA detection.

Abstract:Sensitive and stable triethylamine (TEA) gas sensors are desirable for environmental and human safety. However, the high operating temperature of the metal-oxide-based gas sensors poses a limitation on their wide applications. Herein, we fabricate an exceptional TEA gas sensor based on the core–shell heterostructure comprising crystalline CuO and amorphous In2O3/ZnO (CuInZnO) via a facile electrodeposition method. Remarkably, the optimum gas sensor (CuInZnO-3) exhibits an outstanding gas response (∼25) toward a 10 ppm TEA at room temperature. Moreover, CuInZnO-3 shows excellent selectivity, linear response, and stability. The superior sensing performance can be mainly ascribed to the unique core–shell nanorod heterostructure with a high specific surface area, allowing the formation of p–n junctions. The amorphous nature of the In2O3/ZnO shell also enriches the active oxygen on the surface and enhances gas adsorption.

Abstract:Developing high-sensitivity TEA sensors has extremely important significance for human health. Design of three-dimensional (3D) nanostructures assembled from one-dimensional nanomaterials can effectively improve sensing performance. In this work, a nest-like structure assembled by Cr-doped MoO3 (Cr-MoO3) nanorods with relatively higher specific surface area was prepared. In order to improve the sensing performance, Cr-MoO3 skeleton was combined with ZnSe nanospheres of different mass ratios as sensing materials (ZnSe/Cr-MoO3), and the successful construction of the heterojunction structure was supported by various spectroscopies and charge density calculation. The prepared composite with an optimal moiety ratio showed very high response values of 371 and 1301 for 10 ppm and 50 ppm for TEA at 200 °C, respectively. Simultaneously, the composite sensor also exhibited a low detection limit (1.7 ppb). The improvement of the sensing performance of ZnSe/Cr-MoO3 was attributed to the formation of oxygen vacancies induced by Cr doping, the 3D nest-like structure provided an efficient network for charge transport/collection and the n-n heterojunctions between Cr-MoO3 nanorods and ZnSe nanospheres. The simulation analysis based on density functional theory (DFT) calculations indicated that the heterojunctions could effectively enhance the adsorption energy of TEA and the more charges transferring from TEA to the Cr-MoO3 nanorods.

Abstract:Chemiresistive gas sensor with high sensitivity, selectivity and fast response for specific target gas has many applications from environmental monitor to internet of things. Herein, a highly sensitive and selective nanostructured triethylamine (TEA) gas sensor is fabricated successfully by designing semiconductor heterostructures consisting of ZnO nanorods and alpha-Fe2O3 nanoparticles. ZnO nanorods grow directly on flat Al2O3 electrodes and alpha-Fe2O3 nanoparticles are deposited onto ZnO nanorods by pulsed laser deposition (PLD). Such alpha-Fe2O3/ZnO sensor has larger specific surface area (20.79 m(2)/g), adsorbs more oxygen ions and exhibits higher response (63 to 50 ppm TEA), lower detection concentration (1 ppm), and shorter response time (4 s), which are all much better than the controlled ZnO nanorods sensor. Besides the interface depletion layer at the alpha-Fe2O3/ZnO interface, we find that the surface depletion layer due to oxygen absorption is also very important for the sensor performance. Moreover, more surface adsorbed oxygen in the alpha-Fe2O3/ZnO sensor is proved by both XPS analysis and density functional theory (DFT) simulation, which highlights the significance of gas sensing mechanism study for such composite heterojunction structure.

Abstract:Triethylamine (TEA) is an organic compound that is commonly used in industries, but its volatile, inflammable, corrosive, and toxic nature leads to explosions and tissue damage. A sensitive, accurate, and in situ monitoring of TEA is of great significance to production safety and human health. Metal oxide semiconductors (MOSs) are widely used as gas sensors for volatile organic compounds due to their high bandgap and unique microstructure. This review aims to provide insights into the further development of MOSs by generalizing existing MOSs for TEA detection and measures to improve their sensing performance. This review starts by proposing the basic gas-sensing characteristics of the sensor and two typical TEA sensing mechanisms. Then, recent developments to improve the sensing performance of TEA sensors are summarized from different aspects, such as the optimization of material morphology, the incorporation of other materials (metal elements, conducting polymers, etc.), the development of new materials (graphene, TMDs, etc.), the application of advanced fabrication devices, and the introduction of external stimulation. Finally, this review concludes with prospects for using the aforementioned methods in the fabrication of high-performance TEA gas sensors, as well as highlighting the significance and research challenges in this emerging field.

Starfish-like Zn doped In 2 O 3 dendritic structure for superior triethylamine sensing by the facile co-precipitation method

Abstract:Zn-doped In 2 O 3 starfish-like dendritic structures (IZ x, x =0, 1, 3, 5) were successfully synthesized by a facile co-precipitation method and applied for triethylamine (TEA) sensing. The influence of Zn addition on the phase structure, microstructure, chemical composition and surface state of IZ x sensor was characterized by XRD, Raman, UV-vis, SEM, TEM, XPS and BET analyses . TEA-sensing performance was measured by gas-sensing test system at 40% humidity. Results show that the typical IZ3 sensor has a high response of 156.2 and short response/recovery times of 6 s/165 s after exposure to 5 ppm TEA at optimal temperature of 140 oC. It also exhibits a low detection limit of 0.1 ppm, excellent selectivity to TEA, and long-term stability. The excellent TEA-sensing ability of IZ x -based sensors may be attributed to their unique morphology with large specific surface area, suitable internal defects and band gap induced by Zn-doping . Therefore, Zn-doped In 2 O 3 sensors have potential applications in actual TEA-detection .

Abstract:Triethylamine (TEA) significantly harms the human body, so it is important to develop a TEA gas sensor with excellent performance for TEA detection. In this work, a Pd/PdO-In2O3 TEA gas sensor is developed by a simple, low-cost method, which exhibits improved comprehensive performance to TEA, include high sensitivity, fast response/recovery time, good selectivity, long-term stability, and certain moisture resistance. The 0.8%Pd/PdO-In2O3 sensor exhibited a high response of 1380 and a fast res/rec time of 30 s/ 90 s for 10 ppm TEA, and with good selectivity and stability at an optimal operating temperature of 150°C, and a detection limit below 0.1 ppm. The PdO-In2O3 P-N heterojunction accelerates the electron transport speed and provides many electron transport channels, thus endowing the Pd/PdO-In2O3 with excellent TEA sensing performance. This work launches new insights into the development of new semiconductor heterojunctions for high-performance sensor devices.

Abstract:Triethylamine (TEA), as a common and widely used industrial raw material, is extremely hazardous to the environment and human health. Therefore, the development of a portable gas-sensing technology for high-efficiency detection of TEA is of great worth for human health and environmental monitoring. In this work, a mixed potential type TEA sensor was initially developed based on pyrochlore Gd2Zr2O7 solid state electrolyte and BiVO4 sensing electrode. The sensor generates high response values of − 62.2 mV and − 134.4 mV to 5 ppm and 100 ppm TEA at 500 °C, respectively. The response value of the sensor displays a logarithmic linear relationship with the concentration of TEA in the range of 1–100 ppm with the sensitivity of − 50.8 mV/decade. Besides, the sensor shows good response and recovery characteristics, and the response and recovery time to 10 ppm TEA is 10 s and 89 s, respectively. Moreover, the sensor possesses good humidity resistance, reproducibility and stability. The sensing behavior of the sensor is explained by the mixed potential sensing mechanism, which is confirmed by the measurement of the polarization curves. This work provides a good supplement for TEA gas sensor, which holds important application value for the sensitive detection of TEA in the environment.

Abstract:Triethylamine (TEA) is a typical pollution in chemical industry and Corrupt markers of aquatic products. TEA emissions have a serious impact on human health, industrial production and food safety. In this study, hierarchical flower-like Pt-loaded/Ce-doped In2O3 microspheres are synthesized via simple hydrothermal and in-situ reduction methods. The triethylamine (TEA) sensing measurements display the 0.5Pt-3CeIn gas sensor exhibits high sensitivity (Ra/Rg = 900–100 ppm triethylamine), ultra-low optimal working temperature (100 ℃), enhanced responding and recovering speed (158/45 s) and excellent selectivity towards different target gases (ethanol, acetone, xylene, methanol, nitrogen dioxide and methane) including amine (response towards 50 ppm NH3 is lower than 10). The TEA detection limit is as low as 5 ppb and the sensor exhibits a wide TEA detection range. The introduction of Pt and Ce components into In2O3 effectively reduces the operating temperature, promotes the chemisorbed oxygen content (18.14 %) and wildly decreases the band gap (2.97 eV). The gas sensing mechanism of Pt/Ce-In2O3, which is dominated by electronic and chemical sensitization of Pt, catalytic function of Ce dopants and the functional interface between Pt nanoparticles and Ce-doped In2O3 microspheres, is proposed. This work as well testifies the feasibility for multi-components cooperative optimization of MOS in gas sensing applications.

Abstract:Triethylamine (TEA) is typical hazardous volatile organic gas (VOCs), it is particularly important for us to effectively detect triethylamine in complex places. In this work, high efficiency triethylamine gas sensor based on SmVO 4 was successfully obtained by means of hydrothermal reaction and assisted calcination. Characterization of analytical materials, SmVO 4 octahedral nanoparticles formed clusters similar to pomegranate fruits. There is a trace +4 valence state of vanadium in the material, which contributes to the oxidation-reduction reaction between the target gas and the surface of the material. Gas sensitive test results found that the SmVO 4 sensor still has a 2.45 response to the target gas (triethylamine) at low concentrations (1 ppm). SmVO 4 shows excellent selectivity for triethylamine, with a response value more than three times that of other gases. In 25 days, it shows excellent stability and fast response recovery time (15 s/40 s). In addition, the gas sensing mechanism is analyzed.

Abstract:Developing high-performance triethylamine (TEA) gas sensors are vital for human health. Defect engineering is a common method to enhance sensor performance. In this work, Cu-doped MoO 3 nanobelts with different Cu/Mo molar ratios were synthesized by a low-cost solvothermal method. The 7.5CM sensor (molar ratio of Cu/Mo=7.5%) exhibited a response value of 135 to 10 ppm TEA at 240 °C. The sensor also showed excellent selectivity and sub-ppm detection limit (12.5 ppb). Based on X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and positron annihilation lifetime spectroscopy (PALS) analysis, the enhanced gas sensing performance and mechanism of Cu-doped MoO 3 were discussed. PALS results indicated that higher V′ Mo V o ·· V o ·· vacancy defect clusters content on the surface of Cu-doped MoO 3 . The enhanced gas sensing performance was attributed to the increased concentration of vacancies/vacancy clusters on the surface of MoO 3 nanobelts due to Cu doping, which facilitated the formation of surface chemisorbed oxygen and provided more active sites for the reaction of TEA. Additionally, CuMoO 4 nanocrystals formed in MoO 3 nanobelts can provide p-n heterojunctions on the surface, which generates potential barrier, enabling a wide variation range for the resistance of the sensor. This work provided a simple and effective method for the application of defect engineering in gas sensing materials.

Abstract:In this study, a highly sensitive bulk-like nanostructure zinc oxide (ZnO) gas sensor is prepared using a two-step hydrothermal method. The physical phase, crystallinity, morphology and compound synthesis of the gas-touchy material are portrayed and the results show that it has a bulk-like design made out of wurtzite hexagonal zinc oxide chips. Gas detection focused on the bulk ZnO revealed extraordinary sensitivity (response value of 151 for 200¬†ppm triethylamine at 170¬†¬įC), response/recovery time were 31/53¬†s and detecting as low as 0.053¬†ppm for triethylamine. Indeed, even at room temperature, the sensor answers with a reaction of 3.2. The gas sensing mechanism of the sensor to triethylamine is additionally discussed.
