Abstract:Blockchain is a distributed ledger that combines technologies such as timestamp, cryptography, consensus mechanism, and peer-to-peer network. In the field of data recording and management, the blockchain data query scheme based on smart contracts consumes a lot of resources, and blockchain platforms that do not support smart contracts cannot achieve convenient data query. This study proposes a blockchain data sharing query scheme based on threshold secret sharing. The secret elements used to query data are shared through the Blakley space plane equation to limit the rights of the inquirer, ensuring the security of blockchain data query. At the same time, the Blakley space plane equation coefficient matrix is used to segment the data to be uploaded to the blockchain. It solves the problem that the data cannot be directly stored in the block due to their large size. It facilitates data uploading to the blockchain. The experimental results show that the additional time consumption of the secret sharing and recovery, data segmentation, and reconstruction of this scheme is much less than the block generation time. Therefore, this solution will not affect the normal operation of blockchain applications and can improve the security and the fault tolerance rate of data query.

Abstract:With the development of network technology and cloud computing, data sharing is becoming increasingly popular, and many scholars have conducted in-depth research to promote its flourish. As the scale of data sharing expands, its privacy protection has become a hot issue in research. Moreover, in data sharing, the data is usually maintained in multiple parties, which brings new challenges to protect the privacy of these multi-party data. In this paper, we propose a trusted data sharing scheme using blockchain. We use blockchain to prevent the shared data from being tampered, and use the Paillier cryptosystem to realize the confidentiality of the shared data. In the proposed scheme, the shared data can be traded, and the transaction information is protected by using the ( p , t )-threshold Paillier cryptosystem. We conduct experiments in cloud storage scenarios and the experimental results demonstrate the efficiency and effectiveness of the proposed scheme.

Abstract:<p>With the rapid development of Internet of Things (IoT) technology, IoT devices have been widely used to collect physiological health data and provide diversified services to the terminal users. However, traditional data storage and sharing scheme cloud computing based in IoT face many challenges. For example, IoT devices are usually resource-constrained (storage, computing power, battery capacity, etc.), data signed by IoT devices to ensure data integrity and authenticity will consume a lot of computing resources of IoT devices. At the same time, there is the challenge of high latency and unsafe data storage and sharing. To overcome these challenges, we propose a secure and efficient data storage and sharing scheme for blockchain-based mobile-edge computing. In our scheme, we construct the unique signature private key in a region into multiple key shares. IoT devices only need to submit the data and the random key shares allocated to the edge node. Edge node uses the recovered signature private key to realize data signature and homomorphic encryption. At the same time, the edge node will process timely data and return to the user. For data that need to be uploaded to the cloud for analysis, we use backup uploads to avoid data floods. Through experiments, it was found that our scheme can not only realize low-latency message response for the terminal users, but also realize anonymous identity verification while ensuring data integrity and authenticity. The key shares of the signature private key are stored in different blocks of the blockchain to improve fault tolerance. The content extraction signature algorithm ensures that the key shares stored in different blocks are publicly verifiable. Safety analysis and performance analysis verify the feasibility and effectiveness of our scheme.</p>

Abstract:Data deduplication schemes have been widely used in cloud storage systems to save storage space by eliminating duplicate outsourced data. However, the reduction of redundancy leads to decreased data availability and unbalanced data distribution. This paper proposes a blockchain-based decentralized storage system with reliable deduplication and storage balance strategy to provide reliability for deduplicated outsourced data. Encrypted data is split into chunks by a ramp secret sharing scheme, and it is distributed to multiple independent cloud servers. States of the chunks are recorded on the tamper-proofed blockchain and they can be used to recover the raw data or support the verification of user identity. To balance the distribution of data among storage servers, a heuristic matching algorithm is designed to efficiently allocate the available storage space. The allocation services are published by autonomous smart contracts and other participants gain rewards by giving the best matching results of data chunks and storage servers. Formulation analysis demonstrates the correctness of the proposed scheme in terms of data consistency, integrity, and reliability. Experimental results show that the proposed scheme preserves the confidentiality of outsourced data with acceptable computational consumption.

Abstract:As the typical peer-to-peer distributed networks, blockchain systems require each node to copy a complete transaction database, so as to ensure new transactions can by verified independently. In a blockchain system (e.g., bitcoin system), the node does not rely on any central organization, and every node keeps an entire copy of the transaction database. However, this feature determines that the size of blockchain transaction database is growing rapidly. Therefore, with the continuous system operations, the node memory also needs to be expanded to support the system running. Especially in the big data era, the increasing network traffic will lead to faster transaction growth rate. This paper analyzes blockchain transaction databases and proposes a storage optimization scheme. The proposed scheme divides blockchain transaction database into cold zone and hot zone using expiration recognition method based on Least Recently Used (LRU) algorithm. It can achieve storage optimization by moving unspent transaction outputs outside the in-memory transaction databases. We present the theoretical analysis on the optimization method to validate the effectiveness. Extensive experiments show our proposed method outperforms the current mechanism for the blockchain transaction databases.

Abstract:Blockchain is a key technology to realize decentralized trust management. In recent studies, sharding-based blockchain models are proposed and applied to the resource-constrained Internet of Things (IoT) scenario, and machine learning-based models are presented to improve the query efficiency of the sharding-based blockchains by classifying hot data and storing them locally. However, in some scenarios, these presented blockchain models cannot be deployed because the block features used as input in the learning method are privacy. In this paper, we propose an efficient privacy-preserving blockchain storage method for the IoT environment. The new method classifies hot blocks based on the federated extreme learning machine method and saves the hot blocks through one of the sharded blockchain models called ElasticChain. The features of hot blocks will not be read by other nodes in this method, and user privacy is effectively protected. Meanwhile, hot blocks are saved locally, and data query speed is improved. Furthermore, in order to comprehensively evaluate a hot block, five features of hot blocks are defined, including objective feature, historical popularity, potential popularity, storage requirements and training value. Finally, the experimental results on synthetic data demonstrate the accuracy and efficiency of the proposed blockchain storage model.

Abstract:Distributed storage can store data in multiple devices or servers to improve data security. However, in today's explosive growth of network data, traditional distributed storage scheme is faced with some severe challenges such as insufficient performance, data tampering, and data lose. A distributed storage scheme based on blockchain has been proposed to improve security and efficiency of traditional distributed storage. Under this scheme, the following improvements have been made in this paper. This paper first analyzes the problems faced by distributed storage. Then proposed to build a new distributed storage blockchain scheme with sharding blockchain. The proposed scheme realizes the partitioning of the network and nodes by means of blockchain sharding technology, which can improve the efficiency of data verification between nodes. In addition, this paper uses polynomial commitment to construct a new verifiable secret share scheme called PolyVSS. This new scheme is one of the foundations for building our improved distributed storage blockchain scheme. Compared with the previous scheme, our new scheme does not require a trusted third party and has some new features such as homomorphic and batch opening. The security of VSS can be further improved. Experimental comparisons show that the proposed scheme significantly reduces storage and communication costs.

Abstract:With the features of decentralization and trustlessness and through distributed data storage, point-to-point transmission, and encryption algorithms, blockchain has shed new light on the security and protection of medical data, and it can resolve the contradiction between data sharing and privacy protection with proper security strategies. In this paper, we integrate the strengths of both blockchain and cloud computing and build the privacy protection scheme for medical data based on blockchain and cloud computing. This scheme introduces cloud computing and provides services to blockchain nodes with cloud server computing; meanwhile, it collects, analyzes, processes, and maintains medical data in the identity authentication interface and solves the insufficient computing abilities of some nodes in blockchain so as to verify the authenticity and reliability of data. The simulation experiment proves that the proposed scheme is effective. It can achieve the secure protection and integrity verification of medical data and address the problems of high computing complexity, data sharing, and privacy protection.

A Secure Cloud Storage System Based on Discrete Logarithm Problem.

Abstract:With the development of cloud storage, data owners no longer physically possess their data and thus how to ensure the integrity of their outsourced data becomes a challenging task. Several protocols have been proposed to audit cloud storage, all of which rely mainly on data block tags to check data integrity. However, their block tag constructions employ cryptographic operations, which makes them computationally complex. In this paper, we investigate a secure cloud storage protocol based on the classic discrete logarithm problem. Our protocol generates data block tags with only basic algebraic operations, which brings substantial computation savings compared with previous work. We also strictly prove that the proposed protocol is secure under a definition which captures the real-world uses of cloud storage. In order to fit more application scenarios, we extend the proposed protocol to support data dynamics by employing an index vector and third-party public auditing by using a random masking number, both of which are efficient and provably secure. At last, theoretical analysis and experimental evaluation are provided to validate the superiority of the proposed protocol.

Abstract:The IoT devices deployed in various application scenarios will generate massive data with immeasurable value every day. These data often contain the user’s personal privacy information, so there is an imperative need to guarantee the reliability and security of IoT data sharing. We proposed a new encrypted data storing and sharing architecture by combining proxy re-encryption with blockchain technology. The consensus mechanism based on threshold proxy re-encryption eliminates dependence on the third-party central service providers. Multiple consensus nodes in the blockchain network act as proxy service nodes to re-encrypt data and combine converted ciphertext, and personal information will not be disclosed in the whole procedure. That eliminates the restrictions of using decentralized network to store and distribute private encrypted data safely. We implemented a lot of simulated experiments to evaluate the performance of the proposed framework. The results show that the proposed architecture can meet the extensive data access demands and increase a tolerable time latency. Our scheme is one of the essays to utilize the threshold proxy re-encryption and blockchain consensus algorithm to support IoT data sharing.

Abstract:In recent years, traditional logistics systems are developing toward intelligence based on the Internet of Things (IoT). Sensing devices throughout the logistics network provide strong support for smart logistics. However, due to the insufficient local computing and storage resources of IoT devices, logistics records with sensitive information are generally stored in a centralized cloud center, which could easily cause privacy leakage. In this study, we propose a blockchain-assisted secure storage scheme for logistics data. To be specific, this scheme can be briefly divided into two parts. The first part involves data generation and aggregation, session establishing, records encryption and storage, wherein a blockchain network is used to assist the cloud server with data storage, and smart contracts are deployed to provide reliable storage interfaces. In the second part, an efficient consensus mechanism is introduced to improve the efficiency of the consensus process. Also, the stored records can be securely audited by leveraging the deployed blockchain network. Finally, we analyze the security and privacy properties of this scheme and evaluate its performance in terms of computation and communication overhead by developing an experimental platform. The experimental results indicate that the performance of our scheme is acceptable.

Abstract:As the disruptor of cloud storage, decentralized storage could lead to a major shift in how organizations store data in the future. To ensure data availability, users generally encrypt the data and distribute it to multiple storage service providers. It is necessary to study data integrity verification in decentralized storage. Although some recent studies have proposed the using blockchain technology to assist auditing work in decentralized storage networks, the on-chain overhead still increases linearly with an increase in audit requests. Blockchain networks will inevitably be overloaded. In this study, we propose an efficient data integrity auditing scheme for multiple copies in decentralized storage. Particularly, using different polynomial commitment schemes, we first propose a basic scheme for verifying multiple copies of a single file, and then we propose an efficient batch auditing scheme for multiple copies of multiple files. Our scheme can significantly reduce the computation overhead of storage service providers while keeping the on-chain storage overhead constant. Security analysis and performance analysis show that our scheme is efficient and practical.

Abstract:Emerging blockchain technology has become the cornerstone of many applications providing trusted data services. However, existing blockchain platforms cannot meet the growing demand for big data storage. Blockchain should duplicate both transactions and other user-defined data across nodes for integrity assurance. The rapid expansion of data on blockchain (on-chain data) increases the difficulty of deploying a full node, resulting in decreasing the degree of decentralization and adding the risk of broken data. To tackle these problems, we propose sChain, a novel framework for improving blockchain storage capacity, which does not revise blockchain implementation and can be applied to almost all the existing blockchain platforms. sChain outsources the user data to storage devices that are structurally external to the blockchain network. In theory, a user can outsource unlimited data to sChain. However, those off-chain data may suffer from corruption. To verify the data integrity, we propose a new provable data possession (PDP) scheme, which does not need a centralized entity to maintain any secret keys and therefore eliminates a single point of failure. What is more, we also design a prototype to accelerate the proposed PDP scheme through Intel SGX technology and parallel processing. Security analysis and evaluation results show that sChain can protect data security and effectively improve the blockchain storage capacity, respectively.

Abstract:With the rapid development of information technology, the devel-opment of blockchain technology has also been deeply impacted. When performing block verification in the blockchain network, if all transactions are verified on the chain, this will cause the accumulation of data on the chain, resulting in data storage problems. At the same time, the security of data is also challenged, which will put enormous pressure on the block, resulting in extremely low communication efficiency of the block. The traditional blockchain system uses the Merkle Tree method to store data. While verifying the integrity and correctness of the data, the amount of proof is large, and it is impossible to verify the data in batches. A large amount of data proof will greatly impact the verification efficiency, which will cause end-to-end communication delays and seriously affect the blockchain system's stability, efficiency, and security. In order to solve this problem, this paper proposes to replace the Merkle tree with polynomial commitments, which take advantage of the properties of polynomials to reduce the proof size and communication consumption. By realizing the ingenious use of aggregated proof and smart contracts, the verification efficiency of blocks is improved, and the pressure of node communication is reduced.

Abstract:Blockchain is a distributed digital ledger, because of its decentralization, tamper-proof and other technical characteristics, has been applied to finance, medical management, smart cities and other fields. However, as new blockchain systems continue to emerge, there are information islands and value islands between different blockchains, which largely limits the scalability and sustainable development of the blockchain. To address the challenge of interoperability between blockchains, cross-chain asset exchange technology has garnered considerable attention as a research focal point. This paper proposes a hash time lock mechanism based on threshold algorithm, which mainly solves the hash lock security problem in hash lock technology, and improves the hash lock security through threshold encryption algorithm. At the same time, a homomorphic encryption scheme is designed to protect the privacy of the transaction verification process during the verification phase of the hash lock transaction.

Haina Storage: A Decentralized Secure Storage Framework Based on Improved Blockchain Structure

Abstract:Although the decentralized storage technology based on the blockchain can effectively realize secure data storage on cloud services. However, there are still some problems in the existing schemes, such as low storage capacity and low efficiency. To address related issues, we propose a novel decentralized storage framework, which mainly includes four aspects: (1) we proposed a Bi-direction Circular Linked Chain Structure (BCLCS), which improves data's storage capacity and applicability in decentralized storage. (2) A Proof of Resources (PoR) decision model is proposed. By introducing the network environment as an essential evaluation parameter of storage right decision, the energy and time consumption of decision-making are reduced, and the fairness of decision-making is improved. (3) A chain structure dynamic locking mechanism (CSDLM) is designed to realize anti-traverse and access control. (4) A Bi-directional data Access Mechanism (BDAM) is proposed, which improves the efficiency of data access and acquisition in decentralized storage mode. The experimental results show that the framework has significantly improved the shortcomings of the current decentralized storage.

Blockchain Privacy Protection Based on Post Quantum Threshold Algorithm

Abstract:With the rapid increase in demand for data trustworthiness and data security, distributed data storage technology represented by blockchain has received unprecedented attention. These technologies have been suggested for various uses because of their remarkable ability to offer decentralization, high autonomy, full process traceability, and tamper resistance. Blockchain enables the exchange of information and value in an untrusted environment. There has been a significant increase in attention to the confidentiality and privacy preservation of blockchain technology. Ensuring data privacy is a critical concern in cryptography, and one of the most important protocols used to achieve this is the secret-sharing method. By dividing the secret into shares and distributing them among multiple parties, no one can access the secret without the cooperation of the other parties. However, Attackers with quantum computers in the future can execute Grover’s and Shor’s algorithms on quantum computers that can break or reduce the currently widely used cryptosystems. Furthermore, centralized management of keys increases the risk of key leakage. This paper proposed a post-quantum threshold algorithm to reduce the risk of data privacy leakage in blockchain Systems. This algorithm uses distributed key management technology to reduce the risk of individual node private key leakage and provide post-quantum security. The proposed privacy-preserving cryptographic algorithm provides a post-quantum threshold architecture for managing data, which involves defining users and interaction processes within the system. This paper applies a linear secret-sharing solution to partition the private key of the Number Theory Research Unit (NTRU) algorithm into n parts. It constructs a t–n threshold that allows recovery of the plaintext only when more than t nodes participate in decryption. The characteristic of a threshold makes the scheme resistant to collusion attacks from members whose combined credibility is less than the threshold. This mitigates the risk of single-point private key leakage. During the threshold decryption process, the private key information of the nodes will not be leaked. In addition, the fact that the threshold algorithm is founded on the NTRU lattice enables it to withstand quantum attacks, thus enhancing its security. According to the analysis, the proposed scheme provides superior protection compared to currently available methods. This paper provides post-quantum security solutions for data security protection of blockchain, which will enrich the use of blockchain in scenarios with strict requirements for data privacy protection.

Abstract:There are many problems existing in government data sharing, such as poor security, privacy disclosure and low tamper-resistant modification. To address this issue, we propose a secure and trusted data-sharing model for government data sharing. Given the features of transparency and decentralization, blockchain makes data visible to everyone on the network and is inappropriate for certain situations. This paper transfers the original data to the InterPlanetary File System (IPFS) stor-age. To ensure the security of data sharing, achieve a multi- keyword searchable mechanism and speed up computations of encryption, we propose a cryptographic primitive developed by extending ciphertext policy attribute-based encryption (CP-ABE) and searchable encryption (SE). The experiment result shows that the data-sharing model can prevent malicious attacks and improve the speed of encryption and decryption.

Abstract:Cloud storage has attracted widespread attention due to its advantages such as convenience, low cost, and easy scalability. With the explosion of cloud data volumes, security and performance issues are becoming major concerns. Countermeasures like data deduplication and integrity auditing techniques have been extensively studied. However, traditional auditable deduplication protocols face significant challenges related to confidentiality, reliability, and efficiency. Aiming to address these challenges, a blockchain-based auditable deduplication scheme for multi-cloud storage is proposed in this paper. Specifically, this scheme leverages blockchain technology and bilinear pairing cryptosystem to achieve an auditable deduplication mechanism that not only saves storage space but also checks data integrity. Furthermore, convergent encryption and threshold secret sharing algorithms are utilized to enhance storage confidentiality and system reliability. Batch auditing and anti-repeated auditing techniques are also adopted to improve auditing efficiency. Finally, security analysis and performance evaluation reveal that the proposed scheme achieves the expected security and performance requirements.

To ensure confidentiality while maintaining data sharing capabilities, the Ciphertext-Policy Attribute-based Encryption (CP-ABE) scheme can be used to achieve fine-grained access control in cloud services. However, existing approaches are impaired by three critical concerns: illegal authorization, key disclosure, and privacy leakage. To address these, we propose a blockchain-based data governance system that employs blockchain technology and attribute-based encryption to prevent privacy leakage and credential misuse. First, our ABE encryption system can handle multi-authority use cases while protecting identity privacy and hiding access policy, which also protects data sharing against corrupt authorities. Second, applying the Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) for data encryption makes the whole system efficient and responsive to real-world conditions. Furthermore, the encrypted data is stored in a decentralized storage system such as IPFS, which does not rely on any centralized service provider and is, therefore, resilient against single-point failures. Third, illegal authorization activity can be readily identified through the logged on-chain data. Besides the system design, we also provide security proofs to demonstrate the robustness of the proposed system.
