Determinants of Future Care Preparation among Community-Dwelling Older Adults with Chronic Diseases: A Mixed-Method Study

Abstract:Background: The global population is aging rapidly, leading to a surge in older adults with chronic diseases and an increasing demand for geriatric care services. Future care preparation is a proactive coping strategy aimed at pre-allocating care resources. However, a significant proportion of older adults do not engage in care preparation, underscoring the importance of bolstering care planning efforts and comprehensively understanding the contributing factors among community-dwelling older adults. This study aimed to explore the status and influencing factors of preparation for future care among community-dwelling older adults diagnosed with chronic diseases. Methods: A convergent mixed-method design was employed from May 2024 to July 2024. The sample consisted of older adults with chronic diseases recruited from five community hospitals in Zhejiang Province, China. Quantitative data were analyzed using t-tests, one-way ANOVA, multiple linear regression, and network analysis to identify key factors and their strengths of association in the network related to preparation for future care. Deductive thematic analysis was used to analyze the interview data. Triangulation was conducted to identify the multiple factors influencing preparation for future care. Results: A total of 362 older adults participated in the quantitative study, and 16 older adults participated in the qualitative study. Multiple linear regressions indicated that participants who were older age, with fewer adult children, more chronic diseases, lower health literacy, higher resilience, and greater availability of chronic illness resources were associated with better overall preparation for future care. In network analysis, chronic illness resources demonstrated the strongest positive relationships with preparation for future care. The qualitative analysis identified six main themes, including the influence of traditional culture and family structure, the effects of long-term care resources, the impact of socioeconomic status, the significance of family relationships and social interaction, the influence of health status and mobility, and the role of mental health. Through triangulation, three meta-themes and nine meta-subthemes were identified as multidimensional factors influencing preparation for future care. These included predisposing factors (beliefs in filial piety, family structure, age, and health literacy), enabling factors (access to care resources, economic status, and social support), and need factors (physical health and mental health). Discussions: Devising strategies is essential to address older individuals' beliefs regarding future care preparation, disease management, and psychological adjustment. Encouraging proactive conversations about future care within families, providing family support, and enhancing care resources through healthcare providers are crucial steps in supporting older adults in preparing for their future care needs.

Abstract:Background: Managing the burden of care for patients with chronic debilitating diseases is an important issue. Herein, we assessed the burden in primary family members caring for uremic patients on maintenance peritoneal dialysis. Methods: One hundred seventy caregivers and 170 patients were recruited. Self-perceived scoring along the Zarit Caregiver Burden Scale (ZCBS), World Health Organization Five-item Well-Being Index (WHO-5), and Warwick–Edinburgh Mental Well-being Scale (WEMWBS) were determined for caregivers. Results: There was an inverse relationship between ZCBS and WHO-5 or WEMWBS scores in caregivers, suggesting that the higher the burden, the lesser the self-perceived well-being. One hundred two of 170 caregivers (60%) reported mild to moderate burden, indicating a common presence of mild to moderate caring-related mental and physical stress. Moreover, 31 caregivers (18.2%) reported moderate to severe burden. Several patient disease factors, including diabetes and frailty, increased caregiver burden, while insurance coverage and out-of-pocket medical costs were also positively correlated. Caregivers who lived with patients and spent longer hours in caring-related activities had higher burden scores, while regular exercise seemed to partially alleviate the burden. Conclusion: Our study clearly showed that caring for patients with maintenance peritoneal dialysis caused physical, mental, and social burden in family caregivers, with the extent of the stress being influenced by patients’ disease severity and other demographic factors in both patients and caregivers.

The influencing factors of the caregivers' quality of life and correlation between patient debility and caregiver quality of life were analyzed by general information questionnaire, Tilburg debility index scale, self-care ability scale, family caregiver-related quality-of-life scale and social support scale. Results: The quality of life of the family caregivers of elderly patients on regular haemodialysis is at the medium level (4.50 ± 2.96). Multiple linear stepwise regression analysis shows that the ability of patients to take care of themselves, the degree of patients' weaknesses, whether they care for non-dialysis patients, the time to care for patients, social support and the type of current residence have significant impacts on the quality of life of the caregivers ( p < 0.001). Variance analysis showed that the fitting degree of linear regression equation is relatively high, and the regression equation is significant (F = 9.195, p < 0.001, R = 0.595, R 2 = 0.315). The quality of life of caregivers is positively correlated with the ability of the patients to take care of themselves, the length of care, social support and type of current residence ( p < 0.05). The degree of weakness in patients is negatively correlated with taking care of non-regular dialysis patients ( p < 0.05). Conclusion: The ability of patients to take care of themselves, the degree of weakness of the patients, social support and the type of current residence are the influencing factors of the burden on the family caregivers of maintenance haemodialysis patients. Keywords: maintenance haemodialysis, elderly patients, caregiver, quality of life Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a common public health problem worldwide, with 8% to 16% of adults suffering from CKD. 1,2 End-stage renal disease (ESRD) is the outcome of most primary and secondary kidney diseases. 2–4 To prolong the lifespan and improve the patients' quality of life, experts recommend renal replacement therapy, which is dominated by maintenance haemodialysis (MHD). 5,6 Although MHD can extend patients' life to a certain extent, ESRD has an irreversible disease progression and long-term treatment. Long-term haemodialysis will cause many complications, and its high cost will impose a huge economic burden on patients and their families and severely reduce the patients' quality of life. For haemodialysis patients, curing the disease is no longer the goal of treatment. Therefore, as it is particularly important to improve the quality of life of haemodialysis patients, long-term care and nursing are needed for patients with MHD. Since China is at an early stage of social and economic development, there is no established and solid social medical security system that corresponds to China's current national conditions, and there are still some limitations in the community medical system. Abstract:Background: Family hardiness is a key variable contributing to positive family functioning, which has significant effects on the quality of life and the mental health of patientsand caregivers. The factors that contribute to family hardiness support both the psychological and physical well-being of caregivers is unknown. More specifically, the relationship of family hardiness with attachment and caregiver preparedness has not been explored. Aim: The current study aimed to investigate the family hardiness in caregivers of breast cancer patients and explore the relationship with attachment and caregiver preparedness and identify the associated factors. Methods: This cross-sectional correlational study was conducted from March to July, 2022. 140 caregivers of breast cancer patients were recruited in two IIIA-grade hospitals in Hunan Province using convenience sampling. Data were collected using a personal characteristics questionnaire, The Family Hardiness Index (FHI), Caregiver Preparedness Scale (CPS), and the Experiences in Close Relationships Inventory-Revised Edition (ECR-R). Chi-square, Pearson's correlation coefficient, generalized additive model and multiple logistic regression analyses were performed. Results: A total of 140 caregivers participated in the study. The mean age of participants was (42.29 ± 14.54) years and most of them were male (57.1%). The mean FHI score of caregivers was 58.11 ± 5.67. Multiple linear regression analysis indicated that family hardiness is affected by ECR-R, CPS, education level, and knowledge of breast cancer. The score of CPS was positively associated with family hardiness ( β = 0.265, p < 0.001), whereas ECR-R negatively predicted family hardiness ( β = −0.078, p < 0.001). Conclusion: Family hardiness plays a critical role in helping caregivers manage the stresses associated with providing care to breast cancer patients. Enhancing caregiver preparedness and education, as well as addressing attachment-related issues, can significantly improve family hardiness. In light of our findings, we suggest that closer relationships within families, adding preparedness and knowledge of disease should be encouraged during the care of breast cancer patients.

Abstract:Purpose To investigate the preparedness, perceived stress, risk of depression, and quality of life of family caregivers of patients receiving a temporary enterostomy, to provide a reference for improving the long-term care and quality of life of patients receiving a temporary enterostomy. Methods We enrolled 181 family caregivers of patients in a hospital in China from 2021 to 2023. Responses to the General Information Questionnaire, the Chinese Caregiver Preparedness Scale, the Chinese Perceived Stress Scale, the Chinese bilingual version of the Patient Health Questionnaire-2, and the 12-item Short Form Survey were collected online. Results Pearson's correlation analysis revealed that family caregivers' risk of depression was negatively correlated with their preparedness, the physical component summary score, and the mental component summary score but was positively correlated with perceived stress. Multiple linear regression analysis identified factors influencing caregiver preparedness. Conclusions These findings help healthcare personnel to identify high-risk individuals among family caregivers of patients receiving a temporary enterostomy. This provides a basis for formulating well-planned, dynamic health education programs that meet patients' needs for disease-related knowledge and care.

Abstract:Abstract Aim Currently, there is a shortage of literature on Family hardiness among breast cancer caregivers. More specifically, the relationship between preparedness for caregiving and intimate relationship experiences has not been explored. This study was designed to describe the experiences of family Caregivers' hardiness and analysis the influences by evaluating the relationships between Family hardiness,intimate relationship experiences, and preparedness for caregiving. Methods From March to July, 2022, we surveyed 140 caregivers of breast cancer patients who were admitted in two IIIA-grade hospitals in Hunan Province, and reviewed their medical records. The Family Hardiness Index, Caregiver Preparedness Scale, and Experiences in Close Relationships Inventory were used, and chi-square and multiple logistic regression analyses were performed. Results The mean Family Hardiness Index score of caregivers was 58.11 (SD = 5.67). Multiple linear regression analysis indicated that family hardiness is affected by educational background, occupation, and knowledge of the patient’s disease. This study found that preparedness for caregiving was able to positively predict family hardiness(β = 0.265, P < 0.001), whereas intimate relationship experiences negatively predicted family hardiness (β = −0.078, P < 0.001). Conclusion Breast cancer patients’ primary caregivers had moderate levels of family hardiness, suggesting that nurses should focus on the disease itself, while also evaluating the level of family hardiness of the main caregivers. Through disease knowledge guidance and psychological counseling, caregivers can improve their readiness, reduce attachment anxiety and attachment avoidance, provide patients with a good family environment, and promote their recovery from disease.

Abstract:China is facing challenges in caring for older adults. This paper aimed to understand knowledge, attitude, and practice (KAP) regarding the quality of caregivers for the elderly in long-term care institutions in Zhejiang Province, and also to find related factors to improve the quality of caregivers. A cross-sectional survey was conducted from April to June 2016 in Zhejiang Province. In total, 84 caregivers were interviewed face-to-face with questionnaires on KAP towards elderly care. Multiple linear regression was used to find the related factors to KAP. A conceptual model was made to process path analysis among KAP and influencing factors using structural equation modeling. The study found that most caregivers in Zhejiang Province were middle-aged, female, and with a diploma below middle school. Many caregivers had not received any pre-employment training. Their salary was low although they undertook high-intensity work. Education and working years had a positive effect on knowledge and practice scores, and pre-employment training had a positive effect on knowledge and attitude scores. Knowledge and attitude regarding elderly care could positively affect elderly care practices. The quality of caregivers in Zhejiang Province was at a low level compared to developed countries. Continuous and regular elderly care training should be provided for caregivers to improve their elderly care knowledge and hence the quality of elderly care.

Abstract:Objective To understand the care burden among parents of children undergoing peritoneal dialysis at home and its influen cing factors,and to provide reference for establishment of caregiver training system.Methods Zarit Burden Inventory (ZBI) and Social Support Rating Scale (SSRS)were utilized to investigate 110 parents of peritoneal dialysis children at home in a peritoneal dialysis center of a grade three pediatric hospital in Shanghai.Results The parents' care burden was heavy (42.11 ± 15.01).The parents' social support was at a moderate level (38.68± 9.68),and there was significant difference when it compared with the national norm (P＜0.01).Multiple stepwise regression analysis showed that,children age,peritoneal dialysis time and parents' di sease awareness level were predictors of parents' care burden,which could explain 35.0％ of the total variance.Conclusion Parents of children undergoing peritoneal dialysis suffer heavy care burden,while their social support is at a moderate level.Children age,peritoneal dialysis time and parents' disease awareness level affect caregivers' burden.Clinical dialysis managers should give more technical and emotional support to those parents with children undergoing early peritoneal dialysis at home or at a younger age,to improve and strengthen their knowledge of home dialysis and care through multi-channel,assist parents to manage home treatment with high quality.
Survey and analysis on status quo of heart failure knowledge level of family caregivers of community chronic heart failure patients

Abstract:Objective:To know about the heart failure knowledge level of family caregivers of community chronic heart failure patients and its influencing factors.Methods:A total of 155 family caregivers of community patients with chronic heart failure were investigated by using general information questionnaire and Atlanta heart failure knowledge questionnaire survey.Results:Heart failure knowledge score of the family caregivers of community chronic heart failure patients was 17.66±3.98;the family caregivers with low level score accounted for 43.9%(response rate was less than 60%);caregivers the lowest response rate of five entries for the low-salt diet standards,control method of fluid intake,selection of non-prescription drugs on body aches,vaccinated against influenza,pneumonia vaccine as well as frequency of monitoring body weight;there was statistically significant difference in heart failure knowledge scores among family caregivers with different cultural levels(P<0.05),the culture lever lower the score of relevant knowledge lower.Conclusion:The heart failure knowledge level of family caregivers of community chronic heart failure patients is at a low level,and health care workers should evaluate the acceptability of educational objects and take individualized,continuing health education,so as to improve their knowledge level.

This multicenter survey first aimed to investigate caregivers’ mental states as well as its influencing factors in caring for people with different severities of AD in China.MethodsPeople with AD and their caregivers from 30 provincial regions in mainland China were enrolled from October 2020 to December 2020 to be surveyed for caregivers’ mental states and living conditions, as well as caregivers’ attitudes toward treatment and caring. Logistic regression was used to explore the factors that influence the positive and negative states of caregivers who care for people with different stages of AD.ResultsA total of 1,966 valid questionnaires were analyzed (mild AD: 795, moderate AD: 521, severe AD: 650). A total of 73.6% of caregivers maintained normal states (mild group: 71.9%, moderate group: 73.9%, severe group: 75.2%; X2 = 2.023, p = 0.364), and the proportions of caregivers with positive and negative states were 26.3% (mild group: 38.4%, moderate group: 24.6%, severe group: 13.1%; X2 = 119.000, p < 0.001) and 36.5% (mild group: 25.2%, moderate group: 36.9%, severe group: 50.2%; X2 = 96.417, p < 0.001), respectively. The major factors that both influenced caregivers’ positive and negative states were the severity of AD, perceived efficacy of treatment, safety issues after AD dementia diagnosis and perceived social support (p < 0.005), while neuropsychiatric symptoms causing stress in caregivers (p < 0.001) only affected the negative states of caregivers. The results of further analysis according to disease severity showed that safety issues after AD dementia diagnosis (p < 0.005) only made significant differences in the mild-to-moderate group.ConclusionTo reduce negative states and promote positive states among caregivers, flexible and sensitive caregiving support could be built on caregivers’ demands in caring for people with different stages of AD. The support of emotion, social functioning and nursing skills is one of the significant ways for health workers to enhance caregivers’ competency.

Abstract:BACKGROUND: Cardiac caregivers may represent a novel low cost strategy to improve patient adherence to medical follow up, guidelines, and ultimately patient outcomes. Prior work on caregiving has been conducted primarily in mental health and cancer research; few data have systematically evaluated caregivers of cardiac patients. AIMS: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the patterns of caregiving and characteristics of caregivers among hospitalized patients with cardiovascular disease (CVD) to determine the potential pool of caregivers for an educational intervention and assess disparities in caregiver burden. METHODS: Consecutive patients admitted to the CVD service line at a university medical center during a 3 month period were included in the F amily Cardiac Caregiver I nvestigation T o Evaluate O utcomes ( FIT-O ) Study. Patients [N=1415, 55% (776/1415) white, 60% (853/1415) male, >92% participation rate] completed a standardized interviewer assisted questionnaire in English or Spanish regarding assistance with medical care, daily activities, and medications in the past year and plans for post-hospitalization. Caregivers were classified as either paid/professional (e.g. nurse/home aide) or non-paid (e.g. family member/friend). RESULTS: Among CVD patients, 14% (195/1415) planned to have a paid caregiver and 54% (759/1415) a non-paid caregiver at discharge. Planned paid caregiving was more prevalent among black/Hispanic vs. white/other patients (OR=1.8; 95%CI=1.2-2.5); planned non-paid caregiving prevalence did not differ by race/ethnicity. Most non-paid caregivers were female [82% (325/398)]. Patients who had non-paid caregivers in the year prior to hospitalization [(33% (466/1415)] reported: grocery shopping/meal preparation [62% (287/466)], transport to/arranging doctor visits [61% (283/466)], and medication adherence/medical needs [51% (236/466)] as top tasks caregivers assisted with. CONCLUSIONS: Following hospitalization, a majority of patients expect non-paid caregivers, primarily females, to assist with tasks that have the potential to improve CVD outcomes such as medical follow up, medication adherence and nutrition, suggesting these are important targets for a caregiver educational intervention.
Quality of Life in Caregivers Compared with Dialysis Recipients: the Co-ACTIVE Sub-Study of the ACTIVE Dialysis Trial

Abstract:ABSTRACTAimTo compare quality of life (QOL) of caregivers of dialysis patients with the cared for patients and population norms.MethodsThe ACTIVE Dialysis study randomized participants to extended (median 24 h/week) or standard (median 12 h/week) haemodialysis hours for 12 months. A subgroup of participants and their nominated caregivers completed QOL questionnaires including the EuroQOL‐5 Dimension‐3 Level (EQ5D‐3 L), short form‐36 (SF‐36, also allowing estimation of the SF‐6D), as well as a bespoke questionnaire and the personal wellbeing index (PWI). Caregiver QOL was compared with dialysis patient QOL and predictors of caregiver QOL were determined using multivariable regression.ResultsThere were 54 patients and caregiver pairs, predominantly from China. Caregivers mean (SD) age was 53.4 (11.3) years, 60% were female, 71% cared for their spouse/partner, and 36% were educated to university level. Caregivers had better physical but similar mental QOL compared with dialysis patients (mean SF‐36 physical component summary: 46.9 ± 8.7 vs 40.4 ± 10.2, P < 0.001; mental component summary: 47.8 ± 9.7 vs 49.6 ± 12.0, P = 0.84). Health utility measured with EQ5D‐3 L was not significantly different between caregivers and dialysis patients (mean 0.869 ± 0.185 vs 0.798 ± 0.227, P = 0.083). Caregiver PWI was 43.7 ± 15.5, significantly lower than the Chinese population norm (68.2 ± 14.2, P < 0.001). Higher physical and mental QOL among caregivers was predicted by university education but not age, gender or daily hours caring.ConclusionCaregivers have higher physical and equivalent mental QOL to dialysis patients but poorer personal well‐being than the Chinese population. University education predicts better QOL and may be a surrogate for socioeconomic or other factors. (NCT00649298).

Abstract:Primary caregivers of hemodialysis patients suffer from varying degrees of stress from their patients. Caring for hemodialysis patients can expose caregivers to many problems, leading to an increased burden of care and even impacting the quality of care. The purpose of our study was to examine whether family resilience could be a mediating variable moderating the relationship between patient coping styles and caregiver burden.

Quality of Life Among Primary Family Caregivers of Patients with Heart Failure in Southwest China

Abstract:PURPOSE: The aim of this study was to investigate the quality of life (QOL) and to identify the factors (characteristics of patients and caregivers, caregiver burden, self-efficacy, and social support) related to QOL among family caregivers of patients with heart failure (HF) in Southwest China.DESIGN: The study had a cross-sectional descriptive design.METHODS: Patients and their family caregiver dyads (N = 251) in three hospitals in Chengdu were recruited from April 2013 to September 2014. Data were collected by in-person interviews. Multivariate analyses were used to identify the factors associated with physical and mental QOL of caregivers.FINDINGS: The median scores of physical and mental QOL were 70 and 60, respectively. Multivariate analysis demonstrated that higher New York Heart Association (NYHA) classification, more caregiving hours per day, more readmissions in the last 6 months, higher caregiver burden, and lower social support were associated with poorer physical and mental QOL. Lower self-efficacy was also associated with poorer physical QOL. The variances of physical (73%) and mental (70%) QOL of caregivers were explained by these identified significant factors.CONCLUSIONS: The caregivers of patients with HF in Southwest China had perceived reduced QOL and experienced more seriously impaired mental health than physical health.CLINICAL RELEVANCE: Early assessments, strategies, and policy supports developed particularly for caregivers in undeveloped areas are necessary to identify caregivers who are at a high risk of reduced QOL and to improve their well-being.

Abstract:Objective To describe the caring behaviors of primary caregivers for patients with dementia.Method Fifty-two primary caregivers for dementia patients completed the self-designed questionnaires.Results The primary caregivers for dementia patients didn’t have complete perspective regarding how to ensure dementia patients’ safety.They paid close attention to the changes of dementia patients’ conditions,but didn’t have professional knowledge related to dementia patients’ rehabilitation.Conclusion It is suggested to provide health education by various means to improve the caregivers’ caring skills,and thereby to improve the dementia patients’ quality of life.

Supportive Care in Cancer

Abstract:To assess the level of supportive care needs of caregivers of colorectal cancer patients and explore the related key influencing factors. Totaling 283 caregivers of patients with colorectal cancer were investigated in this study. Firstly, caregivers were invited to complete a set of questionnaires, including the general information questionnaire, the Supportive Care Needs Survey-Partners and the Caregivers of cancer patients, the Caregiver Preparedness Scale, the Benefit Finding Scale, and the Comprehensive Score for Financial Toxicity. Univariate and multivariate linear regression were performed to investigate the associated factors of supportive care needs. The caregivers of patients with colorectal cancer have a moderate level of needs, scored at 2.71 ± 0.42. Caregiver preparedness, benefit finding, and financial toxicity were significantly negatively associated with the supportive care needs of caregivers ( r = − 0.555, P < 0.001; r = − 0.534, P < 0.001; and r = − 0.615, P < 0.001, respectively). Our multivariate regression analysis identified some factors that directly affected the supportive care needs of caregivers, including the duration of illness, tumor stage, the age and educational level of caregivers, caregiver preparedness, benefit finding, and financial toxicity ( R 2 = 0.574, F = 23.337, P < 0.001). Supportive care needs are common among caregivers of colorectal cancer patients. Higher caregiver preparedness, benefit finding, and financial toxicity tend to ease these needs. Healthcare workers should have an in-depth understanding of the needs of caregivers of colorectal cancer patients and actively provide targeted financial/informational/technical/emotional support to promote nursing skills and reduce caregivers' burdens.

Abstract:Objective To investigate the caring behaviors and its influencing factors among family caregivers of patients with pressure ulcer.Methods A total of 146 family caregivers of patients with pressure ulcer were recruited by convenience sampling method.They were investigated with Pressure Ulcer Caring Behaviors Questionnaire,Caregivers' Knowledge about Pressure Ulcer Questionnaire,and General Self-Efficacy Scale(GSES).Results For each dimension of Caring Behavior Questionnaire,position care exhibited the lowest score,followed by wound care,nutritional support and skin care.Multiple regression analysis showed that caregiver's perceived severity of patient's pressure ulcer,self-efficacy,perceived susceptibility to pressure ulcer,and other three factors accounted for 37.5 percent of the variance in caring behaviors.Conclusion The caring behaviors among family caregivers of patients with pressure ulcer should be improved.It is necessary to strengthen their perception of the severity and susceptibility of pressure ulcer,enhance their self-efficacy,and thereby to improve their caring behaviors and promote patients' recovery.
Influence of preparedness on caregiver burden, depression, and quality of life in caregivers of people with disabilities

Abstract:Introduction: Caregiver preparedness is defined as the perceived preparation of caregivers to care for the physical and emotional needs of the patient. Purpose: This study investigated caregiver preparedness and its influences on caregiver burden, depression, and quality of life (QoL) in caregivers of individuals with disabilities. Methods: We conducted a multicenter cross-sectional survey study on caregivers caring for patients with disabilities. Sociodemographic characteristics were collected via questionnaires. The Preparedness for Caregiving Scale (PCS), Burden Interview (BI), Center for Epidemiologic Studies Depression Scale (CES-D), and EuroQol-Visual Analogue Scale (EQ-VAS) were administered. Results: A total of 151 caregivers were enrolled. The mean age of caregivers was 53.7 ± 12.4 years, and 80.8% were female. The majority of participants were the main caregivers of patients with stroke, spinal cord injury, or traumatic brain injury. The mean PCS score was 2.1 ± 0.9, demonstrating significant relationships with BI (r = -0.512, p < 0.001), CES-D (r = -0.622, p < 0.001), and EQ-VAS (r = 0.441, p < 0.001). The CES-D was significantly associated with the PCS after controlling other variables. However, PCS did not show any correlation with the duration of caregiving or amount of time spent per day on caregiving. Discussion: The clinical implications of this study are that higher caregiver preparedness is a predictor of less caregiver burden and depression, and better QoL. However, preparedness did not increase as the duration or time spent on caregiving was extended. Therefore, efforts to enhance the caregivers' preparedness are required to reduce caregiver burden and improve health outcomes for both caregivers and patients.
