Abstract:OBJECTIVES:To compare the predictive ability of six anthropometric indices for identification of metabolic syndrome (MetS) and to determine their optimal cut-off points among Chinese adults.METHODS:A total of 59,029 participants were enrolled. Body mass index (BMI), waist circumference (WC), waist-to-height ratio (WHtR), a body shape index (ABSI), body roundness index (BRI), and conicity index (CI) were measured. Receiver-operating characteristic curves analyses were performed to determine the discriminatory power of these indices for the identification of cardiometabolic risks and diagnosis of MetS. The differences in the area under the curve (AUC) values among the indices were evaluated. The Youden index was used to determine the optimal cut-off points.RESULTS:WHtR and BRI exhibited the highest AUC values for identifying MetS and most cardiometabolic risk factors in both sexes, whereas ABSI showed the lowest AUC value. The general optimal cut-off points in women were 23.03 kg/m2 for BMI, 77.25 cm for WC, 0.490 for WHtR, and 3.179 for BRI; those in men were 24.64 kg/m2 for BMI, 87.25 cm for WC, 0.510 for WHtR, and 3.547 for BRI. The AUC values and cut-off points of the indices were also analyzed in each age and BMI category.CONCLUSIONS:In Chinese adults, WHtR and BRI showed a superior predictive power for MetS in both sexes, which can be used as simple and effective screening tools for cardiometabolic risks and MetS in clinical practice.

Abstract:Evidence regarding associations of general and abdominal obesity with the risk of conventional adenomas (ADs) and serrated polyps (SPs) from Asian population is scarce. Our study aimed to investigate the independent and joint associations of general obesity assessed by body mass index (BMI) and abdominal obesity assessed by waist circumference (WC) or waist-to-hip ratio (WHR) with the risk of ADs and SPs among 25 222 participants recruited by a population-based screening program. Compared to participants with normal BMI, those with a BMI =28 kg/m(2) had increased risk of ADs (odds ratio [OR] 1.52, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.36-1.70) and SPs (OR 1.69, 95% CI: 1.38-2.07). For participants with a WC =102 cm (=88 cm for females), the risk of ADs (OR 1.37, 95% CI: 1.25-1.51) and SPs (OR 1.81, 95% CI: 1.52-2.16) was higher than that of the reference group. For participants with a WHR =0.95 (=0.90 for females), the risk of ADs (OR 1.26, 95% CI: 1.16-1.36) and SPs (OR 1.46, 95% CI: 1.26-1.69) was higher than that of the reference group. Moreover, participants with both BMI =28 kg/m(2) and WC =102 cm (=88 cm for females) had 61% and 119% higher risk of ADs (OR 1.61, 95% CI: 1.39-1.85) and SPs (OR 2.19, 95% CI: 1.70-2.82) compared to those with both normal BMI and WC. These findings indicate that both general and abdominal obesity are associated with SPs and ADs, presenting stronger association with SPs than ADs. Moreover, the association is more evident when both obesities exist.

Abstract:Aims: Traditional anthropometric measures, including body mass index (BMI), are insufficient for evaluating the risk of hypertension. We aimed to investigate the association between novel anthropometric indices and hypertension risk in a large population in the United States. Methods: Forty-five thousand eight hundred fifty-three participants from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) (1999-2018) were enrolled. Social demographic information, lifestyle factors, blood biochemical measurements and anthropometric indices, including body weight, body mass index (BMI), waist circumference, waist-to-height ratio (WtHR), conicity index (CI), a body shape index (ABSI), body roundness index (BRI) and lipid accumulation product (LAP) were collected. Multivariable logistic regression and restricted cubic spline were adopted to investigate the associations between hypertension risk and anthropometric indices. We also performed receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analyses to further evaluate the discriminatory powers of anthropometric measurements for screening hypertension risk. Moreover, participants were randomly assigned to the training group and the validation group in a ratio of 3 to 1. A nomogram model based on anthropometric measures was established and validated in the training group and validation group, respectively. Results: All of the anthropometric measurements investigated were positively and independently associated with the hypertension risk. Among all anthropometric indices, per-SD increment in ABSI had the highest OR (OR: 3.4; 95% CI: 2.73-4.24) after adjusting for age, sex, race/ethnicity, education, smoking, drinking, diabetes, and eGFR. Moreover, results from restricted cubic splines revealed the non-linear association between anthropometric measurements and hypertension risk. In ROC analyses, CI had superior discriminatory power for hypertension (area under the curve: 0.71; 95% CI: 0.706-0.715; optimal cutoff value: 1.3) compared with other indices. Nomogram model based on age, sex, diabetes, CI and LAP showed favorable predicting ability of hypertension risk with an AUC (95% CI) in training group of 80.2% (79.7-80.6%), and the AUC (95% CI) in validation group was 79.5% (78.3-80.1%). Meanwhile, calibration plot showed good consistency. Conclusions: Anthropometric measurements including BMI, WtHR, CI, ABSI, BRI and LAP are closely associated with hypertension risk in the present study. For better prevention and treatment of hypertension, more attention should be paid to anthropometric indices, especially novel anthropometric indices.

Abstract:Objective: We aimed to assess the association between weight-adjusted waist circumference index (WWI) and gallstone prevalence in US adults. Methods: We selected individuals from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) database from 2017 to 2020 and used logistic regression analyses, subgroup analyses, and dose-response curves to assess the association between WWI and gallbladder stone prevalence and age, sex, and ethnicity. Results: A total of 7971 participants aged ≥20 years were enrolled in our study; 828 patients had a self-reported history of gallstones. After correcting for confounders, for each unit of WWI after Ln conversion, the prevalence of gallbladder stones increased by 34% (OR=1.34, 95% CI:1.20, 1.50). Dose-response curves showed a positive correlation between WWI and gallbladder stone prevalence.According to the subgroup analysis, the positive association between TyG index and high-frequency HI was more significant in males(OR=1.34, 95% CI:1.07, 1.69), <40 years old(OR=1.42, 95% CI:1.18, 1.71), white people Americans(OR=1.35, 95% CI:1.08, 1.68) and other races(OR= 1.56, 95% CI:1.13, 2.14). Conclusion: Higher WWI was positively associated with the prevalence of gallbladder stones and was associated with gender, age, and ethnicity. This is noteworthy, although a causal relationship could not be established.

Abstract:Background Adiposity is an established risk factor for diabetes. The different measurements of adiposity for predicting diabetes have been compared in recent studies in Western countries. However, similar researches among Chinese adults are limited. Methods Data were collected from a national survey conducted during September 2014 and May 2015 Among Chinese adults aged 40 years and older across 30 China's provinces. Multilevel model analysis was performed to examine the impacts of different obesity indices [body mass index (BMI), waist circumference (WC), lipid accumulation product index (LAP), visceral adiposity index (VAI), and body adiposity index (BAI)] on the risk of diabetes. Results A total of 162 880 participants were included in this study. Of them, 54.47% were female. With an increase in BMI, WC, LAP, VAI, and BAI, the prevalence of diabetes significantly grew (P < 0.001). The multilevel model analysis showed that WC has the strongest impact on diabetes prevalence, while BAI was the weakest. For one SD increment in BMI, WC, LAP, VAI, and BAI, the prevalence of diabetes increased by 27.0% (Odds Ratio (OR)= 1.270,95% Confidence interval (CI)= 1.251-1.289), 37.4% (OR= 1.374, 95% CI = 1.346-1.401), 28.1% (OR= 1.281,95% CI= 1.266-1.297), 22.0% (OR= 1.220, 95% CI = 1.204-1.236), and 17.4% (OR= 1.174,95% CI= 1.151-1.192), respectively. Conclusion Obesity indicators of BMI, WC, LAP, VAI, and BAI have significant positive relationships with the risk of diabetes. WC has the strongest impact on diabetes, while BAI has the weakest.
Association between triglyceride glucose index-related indices with gallstone disease among US adults

Abstract:Background: Triglyceride glucose (TyG) index combined with obesity-related indicators [triglyceride glucose-body mass index (TyG-BMI), triglyceride glucose-waist to height ratio (TyG-WHtR), triglyceride glucose-waist circumference (TyG-WC)], represents emerging methodologies for assessing insulin resistance. The objective of this investigation was to explore the correlation between TyG-related indices and gallstone disease. Methods: The study included 3740 adults from the 2017-2020 period of the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey. TyG-BMI, TyG-WC, and TyG-WHtR were integrated as both continuous and categorical variables within the multivariate logistic model, respectively to evaluate the connection between various TyG-related indices and gallstone disease. Additionally, restriction cubic splines and subgroup analysis were employed to deepen our understanding of this relationship. Results: When analyzed as continuous variables, positive correlations were observed between TyG-BMI, TyG-WC, TyG-WHtR and gallstone disease. The OR(95%CI) were 1.063(1.045,1.082) for TyG-BMI (per 10-unit), 1.026(1.018,1.034) for TyG-WC (per 10-unit) and 1.483(1.314,1.676) for TyG-WHtR (per 1-unit), respectively. When categorized into quartiles, these three TyG-related indices still show statistically significant associations with gallstone disease. Descending in order, the diagnostic capability for gallstone disease is demonstrated as follows: TyG-WHtR (AUC = 0.667), TyG-BMI (AUC = 0.647), and TyG-WC (AUC = 0.640). Conclusion: There were significantly positive associations between TyG-related indices, including TyG-BMI, TyG-WC, and TyG-WHtR, and gallstone disease. Of these indices, TyG-WHtR demonstrated the most favorable performance in identifying the risk of gallstone disease.
Evaluation of Health Associations With Height‐Normalised Abdominal Body Composition Indices: A Single‐Centre Cross‐Sectional Study

Abstract:Background Traditional metrics such as body mass index (BMI) and waist circumference (WC) fail to accurately assess the health outcomes associated with abdominal adiposity, because they neglect the intricacies of adipose tissue distribution. Notably, the variability in body composition scaled to height remains underexplored in Chinese demographics. This study introduces height‐normalised indices of abdominal adiposity using computed tomography (CT) scans and further assesses their associations with various health outcomes. Methods In a large, diverse Chinese population (n = 1054 healthy individuals; n = 1159 with dyslipidemia; n = 803 with diabetes; n = 1289 with cardio‐cerebrovascular diseases; n = 1108 with cancers; and n = 509 with abnormal bone mas), abdominal CT scans were performed and allometric growth model analyses were used to derive height‐normalised indices (body composition/heightβ). Logistic regression models assessed the associations between these indices and health outcomes. Results Distinct scaling powers were observed for visceral adipose tissue (VAT), subcutaneous adipose tissue (SAT) and total abdominal adipose tissue (TAT), as well as for sagittal diameter (SAD), with marked sex differences. Powers for VAT were 1.786 ± 1.270 for males and 1.274 ± 0.692 for females. Powers for SAT were 2.266 ± 0.856 for males and 1.656 ± 0.497 for females. Powers for TAT were 2.141 ± 0.967 for males and 1.438 ± 0.489 for females. Powers for SAD were 0.646 ± 0.217 for males and 0.678 ± 0.141 for females. After controlling for age, BMI and WC, VAT/heightβ, TAT/heightβ and SAD/heightβ retained their significantly positive associations with the odds of health outcomes, whereas SAT/heightβ did not. Conclusions Our findings endorse the clinical utility of height‐normalised indices, particularly VAT/heightβ, TAT/heightβ and SAD/heightβ, in health outcomes assessment. These indices, grounded in robust empirical data, underscore the necessity of a nuanced approach in obesity‐related health evaluations, advocating for a departure from conventional methods like BMI.

Abstract:Background and aims Cardio-metabolic diseases has been shown to be strongly associated with obesity. The aim of this study was to compare the predictive value of traditional and novel anthropometric measurement indices for cardio-metabolic diseases risk and evaluate whether new indicators can provide important information in addition to traditional indicators. Methods and results China Health and Nutrition Survey (CHNS) data were obtained for this study. Baseline information for healthy participants was gathered from 1997 to 2004. The incidence of cardio-metabolic diseases was collected from 2009 to 2015 for cohort analysis. The predictive ability of each index for the risk of cardio-metabolic diseases was evaluated with time-dependent ROC analysis. Body mass index (BMI) showed the greatest predictive ability for cardio-metabolic disease incidence among all traditional and novel indices (Harrell's C statistic (95% CI): 0.7386 (0.7266-0.7507) for hypertension, 0.7496 (0.7285-0.7706) for diabetes, 0.7895 (0.7593-0.8196) for stroke and 0.7581 (0.7193-0.7969) for myocardial infarction). The addition of novel indices separately into the BMI model did not improve the predictive ability. Novel anthropometric measurement indices such as a body shape index (ABSI), abdominal volume index (AVI) and triponderal mass index (TMI), had a certain prediction ability for adults with BMI < 24 kg/m 2 compared to those with BMI ≥ 24 kg/m 2 . Conclusion No strong evidence supports novel anthropometric measurement indices were better than BMI in the prediction of cardio-metabolic diseases incidence among Chinese adults. Novel anthropometric measurement indices, mainly for abdominal obesity, may have a high predictive effect for adults with BMI <24 kg/m 2 .

Abstract:Ubiquitin C (UbC) is one of the four genes encoding for ubiquitin in the mammalian genome. It has been described as the most responsive gene to cellular treats such as UV irradiation, heat shock, oxidative stress and translational impairment; it was also reported to contribute to maintaining ubiquitin steady state levels under physiological conditions. Despite the bulk of knowledge concerning its function, little is known about the molecular mechanisms modulating UbC expression. Here we review the state of the art of UbC structure, function and transcriptional regulation. Starting from the first evidences which circumscribed the genomic region, pointing out both basic promoter marks (such as transcription start site and TATA-like element), and transcript structure (exonintron boundaries) we go through more detailed molecular studies performed by Marinovic in 2002 and by Bianchi et al. in 2009 and 2013. Herein, the key players orchestrating UbC gene basal activity are underlined.

Abstract:This article explored the relationship between anthropometric indices and hyperuricemia in Chinese adults. The ability of each anthropometric index to predict hyperuricemia was also compared in this article. This is a cross-sectional study containing 69,842 samples from 31 provinces and cities in China. Anthropometric indices included body mass index ( BMI ), waist circumference ( WC ), a body shape index ( ABSI ), body roundness index ( BRI ), waist-to-height ratio ( WHtR ), lipid accumulation product ( LAP ), visceral adiposity index ( VAI ), triglyceride-glucose index ( TyG ), waist circumference-triglyceride index ( WTI ), and weight-adjusted waist index ( WWI ). The survey data obtained were disaggregated and analyzed according to sex and age. BMI , WC , BRI , WHtR , LAP , VAI , TyG , WTI , and WWI were all significantly associated with hyperuricemia ( P < 0.001). In the total population, WTI ( AUC 0.7015, P < 0.001) had the highest predictive power, and WWI ( AUC 0.5417, P < 0.001) had the lowest. In addition, after dividing the male and female populations, LAP ( AUC 0.6571, P < 0.001 for men; AUC 0.7326, P < 0.001 for women) had the highest predictive power among both men and women. The ABSI ( AUC 0.5189, P < 0.001 for men; AUC 0.5788, P < 0.001 for women) had the lowest predictive power among both men and women. BMI , WC , BRI , WHtR , LAP , VAI , TyG , and WTI were positively correlated with the risk of hyperuricemia and serum uric acid concentrations in both sexes. Among the general population, WTI had the highest predictive power. After dividing the population by sex, LAP had the highest predictive power in both men and women.

A Third Study on Predicting NCLEXSuccess With the HESI Exit Exam

Abstract:This was the third annual validity study designed to assess the accuracy of the HESI Exit Exam (E2) in predicting NCLEX success for graduating registered and practical nursing students. As in year I (N = 2,725) and year II (N = 3,752), in year III (N = 6,277), the E2 was highly predictive of NCLEX success for associate degree nursing, bachelor of science nursing, diploma, and practical nursing students. Unlike previous years, in year III, monitoring was not a significant factor in the predictive accuracy of the E2. NCLEX success of low-scoring E2 students, first examined in year II, was also examined in year III. As in year II, low-scoring E2 students were significantly more (P = .001) likely to fail the licensure examination than high-scoring E2 students. In year III, unlike year II, there was no significant difference in the pass rate of low-scoring E2 students who participated in a remediation program and those who did not. The authors recommended that a more definitive definition of remediation be used in future studies and that such studies focus on E2 implementation strategies and their relationship to NCLEX success.
Waist‐to‐height ratio for the prediction of gallstone disease among different obesity indicators

Abstract:Background: Factors of metabolic syndrome such as obesity are well-known risk factors for gallstone disease (GSD). There are different indicators of obesity, including weight, body mass index, waist circumference, and waist-to-height ratio. The predictive ability of different obesity indicators for GSD remains unclear.Objective: To explore the most efficient predictor of GSD among the different anthropometric indicators of obesity.Methods: This population-based cross-sectional study included 2263 participants who completed a questionnaire detailing their demographics, medical history, and lifestyle between 2014 and 2017 in Taiwan. Blood samples were collected and physical examinations, including anthropometric measurements, were performed. Gallstone disease was ascertained using ultrasonography. Multivariate analyses were performed to identify independent risk factors for GSD.Results: The overall prevalence of GSD was 8.8%. According to the multivariate analysis, individuals with a waist-to-height ratio ≥0.5 (odds ratio|odds ratios (OR) = 1.65, 95% confidence interval (CI) = 1.10-2.48, p = 0.017) had an increased risk of GSD. Diabetes was the main risk factor for GSD in men (OR = 2.06, 95% CI = 1.17-3.65, p = 0.013). Among women, waist-to-height ratio >0.5 (OR = 1.76, 95% CI = 1.03-3.02, p = 0.040) and current hormone drug use (OR = 2.73, 95% CI = 1.09-6.84, p = 0.033) were significant risk factors for gallstones.Conclusion: GSD was independently associated with central obesity and exogenous hormone intake in women. Among the anthropometric indicators used to assess central obesity, waist-to-height ratio was the most accurate predictor of GSD.

Association Between Anthropometric Indicators of Obesity and Cardiovascular Risk Factors among Adults in Shanghai, China

Abstract:To determine the optimal cut-off values and evaluate the associations of body mass index (BMI), waist circumference (WC) and waist-height ratio (WHtR) with cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk factors. A large-scale cross-sectional survey was conducted among 35,256 adults aged 20–74 years in Shanghai between June 2016 and December 2017. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analyses were conducted to assess the optimal cut-off anthropometric indices of CVD risk factors including hypertension, diabetes, dyslipidemia and hyperuricemia. Multivariate Logistic regression models were preformed to evaluate the odds ratio of CVD risk factors. The area under the curve (AUC) of WHtR was significantly greater than that of BMI or WC in the prediction of hypertension and diabetes, and AUCs were higher in women than men. The optimal cut-off values of WHtR were approximately 0.51 in both sexes, while the cut-off values of BMI and WC were higher for men compared with women. The optimal cutoff values of BMI and WC varied greatly across different age groups, but the difference in WHtR was relatively slight. Among women, the optimal threshold of anthropometric indices appeared to increase with age for hypertension and diabetes. The odds ratio between anthropometric indices and CVD risk factors were attenuated with age. WHtR had the greatest odds ratio for CVD risk factors among adults under 60 years old except for women with hypertension, while among 60–74 years, BMI yielded the greatest odds ratio in terms of all CVD outcomes except for women with diabetes. WHtR had the best performance for discriminating hypertension and diabetes and potentially be served as a standard screening tool in public health. The associations between three anthropometric indices and CVD risk factors differed by sex and decreased with age. These findings indicated a need to develop age- and gender-specific difference and make effective strategies for primary prevention of CVDs.

Abstract:Abstract Background To investigate the ability of body shape index (ABSI), body roundness index (BRI), waist circumference (WC), body mass index (BMI), waist-to-hip ratio (WHR), waist-to-height ratio (WHtR), and body adiposity index (BAI) for predicting non-adipose cardio-metabolic risk. Methods A total of 17,360 Chinese subjects aged 18–95 years old who escaped cardiovascular disease (CVD) or diabetes were recruited in the cross-sectional study. Anthropometric and biochemical parameters were assessed. Receiver operating characteristic curve (ROC) and multinomial logistic regression were conducted to examine the association of anthropometric indicators with cardio-metabolic risk factors. Results The mean age of subjects were 53.7(13.1) years, 41.6 % were males. The areas under the curve (AUC) demonstrated that WC, BMI, WHR, WHtR and BRI were able to predict high cardio-metabolic risk (AUC > 0.70). Meanwhile, multinomial logistic regression showed BRI was significantly associated with high cardio-metabolic risk (OR 3.27, 95% CI 3.01–3.55). The optimal cut-off values of BRI for high cardio-metabolic risk were (< 60 y: 3.49 vs. ≥60 y: 3.46) in males and (< 60 y: 3.47 vs. ≥60 y: 3.60) in females. Conclusions WC, BMI WHR, and WHtR were potential obesity indicators in discriminating high cardio-metabolic risk, while BAI or ABSI was not. Moreover, BRI revealed superior predictive capacity and significant association with accumulated cardio-metabolic risk factors.

Abstract:Objective: To evaluate the associations of body mass index (BMI) and waist circumference with hospitalization risk of kidney stones in Chinese adults. Methods: This study used long-term follow-up data from China Kadoorie Biobank. After excluding participants with chronic kidney disease, cancer, and extreme BMI or waist circumference values at baseline, 502 096 participants were included in the present analysis. Cox proportional hazards regression models were used to estimate the associations of BMI and waist circumference with hospitalization risk of kidney stones. Results: During an average follow-up period of (10.7±2.2) years, 12 396 participants were hospitalized for the first time with kidney stones. Using the participants with BMI (kg/m2) of 20.5-22.4 as reference, the multivariable-adjusted HR (95%CI) for those with BMI of <18.5, 18.5-20.4, 22.5-23.9, 24.0-25.9, 26.0-27.9, 28.0-29.9, and ≥30.0 were 0.96 (0.87-1.05), 0.94 (0.88-1.00), 1.11 (1.05-1.17), 1.25 (1.18-1.32), 1.29 (1.21-1.37), 1.39 (1.28-1.50), and 1.54 (1.40-1.71), respectively. For every 1 kg/m2 increase in BMI, the HR of kidney stones hospitalization increased by 4% (HR=1.04, 95%CI: 1.04-1.05). Using the participants with waist circumference (cm) of 75.0-79.9 as reference, the multivariable-adjusted HR (95%CI) for those with waist circumference of <65.0, 65.0-69.9, 70.0-74.9, 80.0-84.9, 85.0-89.9, 90.0-94.9, and ≥95.0 were 0.82 (0.74-0.91), 0.85 (0.80-0.92), 0.95 (0.89-1.00), 1.16 (1.09-1.22), 1.22 (1.15-1.30), 1.28 (1.19-1.38), and 1.46 (1.35-1.58), respectively. For every 5 cm increase in waist circumference, the HR of kidney stones hospitalization increased by 9% (HR=1.09, 95%CI: 1.08-1.10). After mutually adjusting for BMI and waist circumference in the above models, the association between BMI and hospitalization risk of kidney stones disappeared. In contrast, the association between waist circumference and hospitalization risk of kidney stones remained unchanged. Conclusions: BMI and waist circumference were positively associated with hospitalization risk of kidney stones. The increased waist circumference was an independent risk factor for kidney stones among Chinese adults.

Abstract:This study aimed to assess the effects of different anthropometric indices and their changes on the risk of incident dyslipidemia among the Chinese population. From the Guizhou population health cohort study, 2989 Chinese adults without dyslipidemia at baseline were followed up. Anthropometric parameters including waist circumference (WC), body mass index (BMI), waist-to-height ratio (WHtR), and their changes in the latter two indices, and serum lipids were tested after at least 8 h fasting. Hazard ratio (HR), adjusted hazard ratio (aHR), and 95% confidential interval (CI) were calculated to estimate the association between anthropometric parameters and dyslipidemia risk using multivariate Cox regression. A total of 2089 (69.98%) new dyslipidemia cases were identified over an average follow-up of 7.0 years. Baseline BMI (aHR = 1.12, 95%CI 1.01, 1.23) and WHtR (aHR = 1.06, 95%CI 1.00, 1.13) were positively associated with higher risks of incident dyslipidemia but not WC. Each 5.0 kg/m2 increment of BMI or 0.05-unit increment of WHtR was significantly associated with 43% or 25% increased risk of incident dyslipidemia, respectively. The aHRs (95%CI) of incident dyslipidemia for subjects maintaining or developing general obesity were 2.19 (1.53, 3.12) or 1.46 (1.22, 1.75), and 1.54 (1.23, 1.82) or 1.30 (1.06, 1.60) for subjects maintaining or developing abdominal obesity, respectively. Linear trends for aHRs of BMI, WHtR change, and BMI change were observed (p for trend: 0.021, <0.001, <0.001, respectively). BMI, WHtR, and their changes were closely associated with the incidence of dyslipidemia for Chinese adults. Loss in BMI and WHtR had protective effects on incident dyslipidemia, whereas gain of BMI or WHtR increased the dyslipidemia risk. Interventions to control or reduce BMI and WHtR to the normal range are important for the early prevention of dyslipidemia, especially for participants aged 40 years or above, male participants, and urban residents with poor control of obesity.
