Abstract:Based on a fractional-order quantum cellular neural network (QCNN), we present a new image encryption method. This technique uses an anamorphic fractional Fourier transform and was designed to solve the current insufficiency of nonlinearities that exist in optical cryptosystems. The primary advantage of an anamorphic transform is the additional degree of freedom offered from the fractional order, which increases flexibility of the optical system. First and second chaos random phase masks were obtained through the fractional-order QCNN system with varying parameters which provide a complex key space. An input image was processed by the first chaos random phase mask and then transformed using an anamorphic fractional Fourier transform. An encrypted image was then produced using the second chaos random phase mask and the second anamorphic fractional Fourier transform. The cryptosystem exhibited powerful resistance against many sorts of potential attacks, such like noise and occlusion. The simulation experiments verify the security and effectiveness of scheme in this paper.

Abstract:In the field of Internet, image is of great significance to information transmission. Meanwhile, how to ensure and improve its security has become the focus of research in the world today. We combine DNA codec with Quantum Arnold Transform (QArT) to propose a new double encryption algorithm for quantum color images. to improve the security and robustness of image encryption.Firstly, we utilize the biological characteristics of DNA codecs to perform encoding and decoding operations on pixel color information in quantum color images, and achieve pixel-level diffusion. Secondly, we use QArT to scramble the position information of quantum images and use the operated image as the key matrix for quantum XOR operations. All quantum operations in this paper are reversible, so the decryption operation of the ciphertext image can be realized by the reverse operation of the encryption process. We conduct simulation experiments on encryption and decryption using three color images of "Monkey", "Flower" and "House". The experimental results show that the peak value and correlation of the encrypted images on the histogram have good similarity, and the average NPCR of RGB three-channel is 99.61%, the average UACI is 33.41%, and the average information entropy is about 7.9992. In addition, the robustness of the proposed algorithm is verified by the simulation of noise interference in the actual scenario.

Abstract:Image encryption converts the plain image into a noise-like one to protect information security. However, the obtained cipher images are easy to attract the attention of third parties during transmission and storage, and it is vulnerable to information damage and tampering caused by hacking or noise pollution, which in turn makes the receiver unable to obtain the correct decrypted image even spending many resources. To address these issues, this paper proposed a verifiable visually meaningful image encryption based on compressed sensing (CS) and improved game of life (IGOL). Specifically, the plain image is preprocessed and compressed to obtain compressed image via CS, achieving the purpose of reducing the image size. Subsequently, to improve the encryption effect, dynamic cyclic shift confusion method (DCSCM) and diffusion method based on improved game of life (DMIGOL) are presented and performed on the compressed image to obtain the secret image. Next, multiple shadow images are obtained using the secret image sharing based on the Chinese remainder theorem (CRT-SIS) on the secret image, which improves the robustness of this scheme and achieves multi-party data transfer of image. Finally, the shadow images are embedded into the carrier images respectively to obtain visually meaningful cipher images, reducing the attacker's attention to the cipher images during transmission. Additionally, the Hamming distance authentication method relying on plain image and carrier image is applied, and users can perform identity authentication and integrity check on cipher image. Experimental results demonstrate the security and effectiveness of the proposed scheme.
A chaotic image encryption algorithm based on 3-D bit-plane permutation

Abstract:There are two shortcomings existing in the current color image encryption. One is that high correlation between R , G , B components of the original image may be neglected, the other is that the encryption has little relationship with the plain image, and then it is vulnerable to be broken. In order to solve these two problems and present secure and effective image encryption scheme, we introduce a novel chaos-based image encryption algorithm for color images based on three-dimensional (3-D) bit-plane permutation. In the proposed algorithm, the color plain image is firstly converted to 24 bit planes by RGB splitting and bit plane decomposition, next three-dimensional bit-plane permutation is performed on bit planes, position sequences for permutation are obtained from the 3D Chen chaotic system, and then the three confused components are gotten. Secondly, three key matrices are generated by a 1D chaotic system and a multilevel discretization method, and finally, the color cipher image is obtained by diffusing the confused components using key matrices. The SHA 256 hash function value of the plain image is obtained and combined with the given parameters to calculate the parameters and initial values of the chaotic system, so that the proposed scheme highly depends on the plain image and it may effectively withstand known-plaintext and chosen-plaintext attacks. Simulation results and security analyses demonstrate that our algorithm not only has good encryption effect, but can also resist against common attacks, so it is reliable to be applied for image secure communications.

Abstract:Image encryption is an effective method to protect private images by converting them into meaningless ones, but many current image encryption algorithms still have security and efficiency problems. This paper combines compressed sensing (CS) and secret image sharing (SIS) to propose a certifiable visually secure image selection encryption. Firstly, a selective encryption based on multi-task convolutional neural network (SE-MTCNN) is presented to distinguish and encrypt the sensitive and non-sensitive information of plain images. Subsequently, the SIS algorithm is used to decompose the resulting plain image into multiple shadow images to disperse the risk of cryptographic image loss and resist hacking attacks. Herein, a pseudo-convolutional sliding scrambling based on chaotic sequences driven by plaintext (PCSS-CSDP) is proposed to eliminate the correlation between adjacent image pixels. Finally, the IWT-M-embedding algorithm is used to embed shadow images into carrier images to get multiple visually meaningful cipher images. Additionally, a new authentication scheme based on bit-level cyclic shifts and dynamic combination (AS-BCSDC) is introduced, and the obtained authentication information is fused into cipher images to prevent the deception of illegal users and malicious tampering of cloud platform. Experiments demonstrate the effectiveness of our algorithm, and it may be applied for image secure communication.
A 3D Cuboid Image Encryption Algorithm Based on Controlled Alternate Quantum Walk of Message Coding

Abstract:In order to solve various security risks faced by image privacy protection, we propose a 3D cuboid image encryption scheme based on message-encoded controlled alternate quantum walks. Firstly, we calculated the initial parameters of the quantum system and performed a one-dimensional quantum walk to generate a probability distribution sequence. Secondly, we encoded the sequence into a quaternary message using multiple sets of encoded messages to control the alternate quantum walk model, generating a 3D probability amplitude matrix and 3D probability distribution matrix to obtain the 3D quantum hash sequence through the 3D probability distribution matrix. Then, the image was divided into blocks and integrated into a cuboid. The image cuboid was scrambled between layers using the probability value sequence, and the 3D probability distribution matrix was used to complete the scrambling of the cross-section between layers. Finally, we converted each pixel value of the scrambled cuboid into a binary cube and controlled it to perform the rotation operation through the 3D probability magnitude matrix, then used the 3D quantum hash sequence to XOR the obtained cuboid image and tilted it to obtain the final encrypted image. The simulation results show that the image encryption scheme can resist various typical attacks and has good security performance.

Abstract:Based on compressive sensing and double random encryption strategy, a novel color image compression and encryption scheme is proposed in this paper. The architecture of compression, confusion and diffusion is adopted. Firstly, the red, green and blue components of color plain image are converted to three sparse coefficient matrices by discrete wavelet transform (DWT), and then a double random position permutation (DRPP) is introduced to confuse the coefficient matrices. Subsequently, Logistic-Tent system is utilized to generate the asymptotic deterministic random measurement matrix based on chaotic system and plain image (ADMMCP), which is used to measure the coefficient matrices to obtain measurement value matrices. Moreover, simultaneous double random pixel diffusion between inter-intra components (SDRDIC) is presented to modify the elements of measurement value matrices to obtain the final cipher image. A 4-D hyperchaotic system is applied to produce chaotic sequences for confusion and diffusion, the initial conditions of the used chaotic systems are controlled by the SHA 512 hash value of plain image and external keys, such that the proposed image cryptosystem may withstand known-plaintext and chosen-plaintext attacks. Abstract:Image encryption is an efficient technique for image protection. This paper presents a double color image encryption (DCIE) scheme based on three-dimensional (3D) Brownian motion. The architecture of diffusion, confusion and diffusion is adopted. The proposed algorithm firstly decomposes two color plain images into R, G, B components and bit planes, then conducts XOR operation between every bit plane and a key bit plane generated from carrier images; next, arranges all the bit planes into a 3D bit matrix, performs block-in 3D Brownian motion confusion and block confusion on it, which can permute the elements across bit planes and across plain images; finally, a subsequent diffusion process is utilized to improve the encryption effect. Simulation results and performance analyses illustrate that the proposed encryption scheme can simultaneously encrypt two color images into noise-like ones that have strong ability of resisting various known attacks.

Abstract:The current image encryption methods do not take into account the characteristics of images, and these algorithms require higher hardware resources. Therefore, this paper presents an improved algorithm for image quantum encryption. Based on the analysis of the classic image encryption method, the physical basis of key generation and distribution of image quantum encryption are introduced, and the single particle key distribution algorithm and the two particles entangled state key distribution algorithm are analyzed. To Judge whether there is an effective way by using two key distribution algorithms, so that it can make the both communicating sides (Alice and Bob) to complete key negotiation and generation by using the unreliable channels, making sure that the absolutely safe of key, and ensuring the security of the image. The experimental results show that the proposed method has high encryption performance, and the security and the ability to resist differential attacks are also very high. (C) 2017 Elsevier Ltd. Abstract:This study presents an innovative image encryption algorithm anchored on the two-dimensional Logistic chaotic system, designed to address the limitations of traditional methods in terms of speed and security. The algorithm employs pixel shifting and scrambling, coupled with a segmented grayscale value substitution, to achieve a high level of security with strong key sensitivity and robust resistance to both differential and statistical attacks. Experimental validation demonstrates its superiority with fast encryption speeds, as evidenced by an encryption time of 0.2136 seconds for a 256×256 color image, and an entropy close to its ideal value, indicating excellent randomness. This method also exhibits high performance in resisting differential attacks, with Number of Pixels Change Rate (NPCR) and the Unified Average Changing Intensity (UACI) values nearing their optimal expected values. The integration of Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) is suggested for future work to enhance security against quantum computing threats, solidifying the algorithm’s potential as a leading solution for the image encryption.

Abstract:As digital images are widely used in social media, medical, military and other fields, ensuring the privacy and security of image data has become a critical concern. Firstly, we propose a novel four-dimensional hyperchaotic system and validate that it exhibits a broad chaotic range, as demonstrated by bifurcation diagrams and Lyapunov exponent experiments. Additionally, simulated circuit diagrams verify the hardware feasibility of the proposed system. Secondly, we design a dynamic iterative scrambling (DIS) scheme that dynamically divides the image into multiple matrices for spatially indexed scrambling. Excellent substitution performance can be ensured by multiple iterations. In the diffusion stage, a multidirectional bit-level L-shaped (MDBL) scheme is proposed. Diffusion is conducted on the bit plane using a designed cross-multiplanar selection algorithm, which fuses the high and low bit planes, thereby enhancing the diffusion performance of MDBL. Thirdly, Based on the above concepts, a novel four-dimensional hyperchaotic system and an encryption algorithm based on bit-level diffusion are proposed. Finally, experimental results and security analyses demonstrate the effectiveness of the novel 4D hyperchaotic system and image encryption scheme. The proposed encryption scheme exhibits robust anti-interference capabilities and effectively safeguards image security.\

Abstract:An adaptive quantum image encryption method based on wavelet transform is designed. Since the characteristic of most information is centralized in the low frequency part after performing the wavelet transform, it reserves the image low frequency information only, so as to reduce the encryption workload. Then it encrypts the low frequency information by the random key stream generated by logistic map, the encryption process is realized by implementing XOR operation. In the decryption process, it carries out zero filling operations for high frequency coefficient to recover the decryption images which are equal to the plain images. At the same time, the relevant quantum logical circuit is designed. Statistical simulation and theoretical analysis demonstrate that the proposed quantum image encryption algorithm has higher security and lower computational complexity. So it is adaptive to the scenes that need to encrypt a large number of images during network transmission.

Abstract:The conventional approach for images encryption entails transforming a regular image into an encrypted image that resembles noise. However, this noise-like encrypted image is susceptible to drawing the attention of an attacker when transmitted through a public channel. Hence, there has been a recent surge in the interest of academics towards visually secure image encryption techniques. In a broad sense, encryption methods that include visual significance should prioritize four key elements: the resemblance between the cypher picture and the carrier image, the capacity for embedding, the attainment of good recovery quality, and resilience against many forms of attacks. To address the issues pertaining to inadequate visual security, limited resistance against attacks, and subpar quality of reconstructed images observed in contemporary image encryption and compression methodologies. This paper proposes a visually secure image encryption method based on improved semi-tensor product compressed sensing, two-way cross zigzag obfuscation, and IWT-HD-SVD embedding. Firstly, the plain image is sparsely represented in the Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) domain, and a two-way cross zigzag mismatch strategy is proposed to disarrange the coefficient vectors. Then the plain image is encrypted as a secret image by the improved semi-tensor product compression sensing technique. After that, IWT-HD-SVD embedding technique is proposed to embed the secret image into the carrier image to generate the final meaningful cryptographic image. This dramatically improves the visual security of the cryptographic image. Simulation results show that the quality of the decrypted image is approximately 36 dB and up to 44 dB. In addition, the cryptographic image is highly robust against common noise attacks of 0.05 %.

Abstract:The quick advancement of multimedia technology has led to the widespread utilization of digital images across various industries. Meanwhile, image security has become an urgent issue in need of resolution. To guarantee image security as well fulfill the requirements of real-time image cryptosystems, a novel image encryption algorithm is proposed based on the designed improved iterative chaotic map with infinite collapses (ICMIC), Gray code and semi-pixel level permutation and diffusion. Firstly, two chaotic sequences are produced using the improved ICMIC and then they are used to perform scrambling and diffusion operations. Secondly, the plain image is encoded using Gray code and then we convert each Gray code into two semi-pixels. Thirdly, the designed semipixel level permutation is used to scramble the semi-pixel vector. Finally, the scrambled semi-pixel vector is diffused using the designed dynamic semi-pixel level diffusion. The performance analyses illustrate that the proposed algorithm possesses robust security and high efficiency, making it ideally suited for application in real-time image cryptosystems.

Abstract:Digital images play a crucial role in modern communication, but the accompanying privacy concerns have become increasingly prominent. In this context, image encryption technology has emerged as a vital means to safeguard the security of digital image information. Over the past few years, a number of effective image encryption schemes have been developed. However, the amalgamation of bit-level encryption techniques with compression algorithms remains underexplored. To leverage the advantages of these two technologies in terms of security and practicality, a novel multiple color images encryption and decryption scheme is devised based on a bit-level extension algorithm. Firstly, four color images are compressed by the discrete wavelet transform (DWT) to reduce transmission and storage consumption. Secondly, to carry out the bit-level scrambling and diffusion operations on pixels with fractional parts in the DWT domain and maintain the decryption image quality as much as possible, a bit-level extension algorithm is developed. Finally, three rounds of scrambling and diffusion operations based on the bit-level extension algorithm are conducted to enhance the randomness of the ciphertext image and conceal the plaintext information. To reinforce the resistance of the presented image encryption and decryption scheme towards the chosen-plaintext and the differential attacks, secret keys are produced with the hash function SHA-512. The presented scheme undergoes a comprehensive analysis including decryption quality, key security, and resistance to the statistical and the differential attacks. The results are: average PSNR = 31.2631 dB, key space reaches 2472 , correlation coefficients are almost 0, average entropy = 7.9985 bits, average NPCR = 99.6089%, and average UACI = 33.4658%. Moreover, experimental simulations demonstrate that our solution exhibits a degree of resilience to noise interference and data loss. In summary, our presented multiple color images encryption and decryption scheme based on a bit-level extension algorithm is effective and reliable.

Abstract:To ensure the confidentiality and integrity of image data and prevent unauthorized data tampering and privacy leaks. This study proposes a new color image encryption scheme based on the Mackey–Glass time-delay chaotic system and quantum random walk. This approach fully leverages the unpredictability of quantum random walks to generate random values. It combines the differences in Hamming distance between the three RGB channels of color images to create a highly complex and random key. The overall image and the three independent RGB channels are arranged in ascending order using Logistic-tent chaotic mapping and the Mackey–Glass time-delay chaotic system to obfuscate the image data. The deformed fractional-order Lorenz chaotic system is introduced, integrated with DNA encoding and decoding technology, and XOR operations are performed to achieve encryption at the spatial and pixel levels, thereby increasing the complexity of decryption. Through extensive experimental research, this solution has demonstrated excellent results in tests such as adjacent pixel correlation, information entropy, and key sensitivity. It has an excellent ability to protect the privacy of images and provides a reliable guarantee for the security of image data.

Abstract:The double random phase encoding (DRPE) image encryption method has garnered significant attention in color image processing and optical encryption thanks to its R, G, and B parallel encryption. However, DRPE-based color image encryption faces two challenges. Firstly, it disregards the correlation of R, G, and B, compromising the encrypted image's robustness. Secondly, DRPE schemes relying on Discrete Fourier Transform (DFT) and Discrete Fractional Fourier Transform (DFRFT) are vulnerable to linear attacks, such as Known Plaintext Attack (KPA) and Chosen Plaintext Attack (CPA). Quantum walk is a powerful tool for modern cryptography, offering robust resistance to classical and quantum attacks. Therefore, this study presents an optical color image encryption algorithm that combines two-dimensional quantum walking (TDQW) with 24-bit plane permutation, dubbed OCT. This approach employs pseudo-random numbers generated by TDQW for phase modulation in DRPE and scrambles the encrypted image's real and imaginary parts using the generalized Arnold transform. The 24-bit plane permutation helps reduce the R, G, and B correlation, while the generalized Arnold transform bolsters DRPE's resistance to linear attacks. By incorporating TDQW, the key space is significantly expanded. The experimental results validate the effectiveness and security of the proposed method.

Abstract:In recent years, image encryption technology has attracted much attention. As people pay more attention to communication privacy and network security, the requirements for information encryption technology are more stringent. As one of the information carriers, images are valuable for carrying the effectiveness and vividness of the information. This paper proposes a color image encryption algorithm based on DNA encoding and alternating quantum random walk. Quantum random walk is an excellent cryptographic tool that participates in all parts of the algorithm process, and DNA encoding is used as the core encryption method to complete the algorithm. This article describes the encryption and decryption process in detail, and conducts simulation experiments to verify and analyze the results of the proposed algorithm. In the simulation stage, we design the simulation key parameters, encode the color image encryption and decryption experiments, and carry out related analysis. The experimental results show that the color image encryption algorithm proposed in this paper can perform safe and effective color image encryption. The correlation analysis shows that the image histogram after encryption is stable, the pixel correlation coefficient approaches 0, and the key space is \begin{document}${2^{ 128 }} $\end{document} , the three-channel information entropy reaches more than 7.997, which can resist statistical attacks, brute force attacks and other attack methods. In addition, DNA coding has unique biological characteristics in addition to the novel coding and calculation methods, which provide new ideas and directions for cryptographic research.

Abstract:To protect visual content in color images, this paper presents an encryption method by employing discrete trinion Fourier transform and compressive sensing. Firstly, each color image is precoded into a trinion matrix for holistically processing. The discrete trinion Fourier transform is performed to construct an enducing matrix. With measurement matrices generated by 3D Lorenz chaotic map, complex-type compressed sensing is then utilized to obtain sparse coefficients. Followed by Josephus scrambling and inverse discrete trinion Fourier transform, the ciphertext can be obtained. The plain-text images can be restored perfectly and the maximum PSNR value is more than 280dB. Additionally, the proposed cryptosystem shows high-level sensitivity, which is evidenced by NPCR and UACI values beyond 99.9998% and 33.3337%, respectively. Compared with several existing methods, the proposed algorithm exhibits stronger resistance against Gaussian noise.

Abstract:Nowadays, as critical conduits of communication, the information security of images and videos is particularly important. The existing encryption techniques usually transform images into high-frequency content that resembles noise, pre-senting significant challenges in achieving efficient compression. This paper presents an innovative collaborative approach that integrates image encryption and compression using a reversed diffusion model. This method, by reversing the typical process of diffusion models, adeptly changes encrypted high-frequency content into a domain that is more amenable to compression. Leveraging the reversible nature of the Denoising Diffusion Implicit Models (DDIM), our framework ensures the high-fidelity restoration of information. Our experimental findings demonstrate that this approach not only effectively encrypts images but also compresses the encrypted high-frequency noise content, outperforming Video Versatile Coding (VVC) in compression performance.
