Abstract:Rotavirus is a major causative agent of diarrhoea in children, infants, and young animals around the world. The associated zoonotic risk necessitates the serious consideration of the complete genetic information of rotavirus. A segmented genome makes rotavirus prone to rearrangement and the formation of a new viral strain. Monitoring the molecular epidemiology of rotavirus is essential for its prevention and control. The quantitative RT-PCR targeting the NSP5 gene was used to detect rotavirus group A (RVA) in pig faecal samples, and two pairs of universal primers and protocols were used for amplifying the G and P genotype. The genotyping and phylogenetic analysis of 11 genes were performed by RT-PCR and a basic bioinformatics method. A unique G4P[6] rotavirus strain, designated S2CF (RVA/Pig-tc/CHN/S2CF/2023/G4P[6]), was identified in one faecal sample from a piglet with severe diarrhoea in Guangdong, China. Whole genome sequencing and analysis suggested that the 11 segments of the S2CF strain showed a unique Wa-like genotype constellation and a typical porcine RVA genomic configuration of G4-P[6]-I1-R1-C1-M1-A8-N1-T1-E1-H1. Notably, 4 of the 11 gene segments (VP4, VP6, VP2, and NSP5) clustered consistently with human-like RVAs, suggesting independent human-to-porcine interspecies transmission. Moreover, a unique 344-nt duplicated sequence was identified for the first time in the untranslated region of NSP5. This study further reveals the genetic diversity and potential inter-species transmission of porcine rotavirus.

Abstract:(1) Background: Group A rotaviruses (RVAs) are the primary cause of severe intestinal diseases in piglets. Porcine rotaviruses (PoRVs) are widely prevalent in Chinese farms, resulting in significant economic losses to the livestock industry. However, isolation of PoRVs is challenging, and their pathogenicity in piglets is not well understood. (2) Methods: We conducted clinical testing on a farm in Jiangsu Province, China, and isolated PoRV by continuously passaging on MA104 cells. Subsequently, the pathogenicity of the isolated strain in piglets was investigated. The piglets of the PoRV-infection group were orally inoculated with 1 mL of 1.0 × 106 TCID50 PoRV, whereas those of the mock-infection group were fed with an equivalent amount of DMEM. (3) Results: A G5P[23] genotype PoRV strain was successfully isolated from one of the positive samples and named RVA/Pig/China/JS/2023/G5P[23](JS). The genomic constellation of this strain was G5-P[23]-I5-R1-C1-M1-A8-N1-T1-E1-H1. Sequence analysis revealed that the genes VP3, VP7, NSP2, and NSP4 of the JS strain were closely related to human RVAs, whereas the remaining gene segments were closely related to porcine RVAs, indicating a reassortment between porcine and human strains. Furthermore, infection of 15-day-old piglets with the JS strain resulted in a diarrheal rate of 100% (8 of 8) and a mortality rate of 37.5% (3 of 8). (4) Conclusions: The isolated G5P[23] genotype rotavirus strain, which exhibited strong pathogenicity in piglets, may have resulted from recombination between porcine and human strains. It may serve as a potential candidate strain for developing vaccines, and its immunogenicity can be tested in future studies.

Abstract:We aimed to assess the utility of various techniques for identifying gonorrhoea infection networks. All residents of a non-metropolitan North Carolina county visiting a sexually transmitted disease (STD) clinic during a 17-month period were screened for gonorrhoea. Infection networks were estimated by serovar type combined with antibiotic resistance, arbitrarily primed polymerase chain reaction (AP-PCR), or temporal clustering. The residential addresses of infected patients were geocoded and mapped. Among 2 serovar types, the presence of distinguishing characteristics of a network, based on questionnaire data, was assessed with prevalence ratios and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) relative to those not in the network. Twenty-five serovar types were identified among 759 gonorrhoea infections. In one serovar, the networks further delineated by temporal clusters correlated with particular AP-PCR types. In most instances, however, different typing techniques painted different network pictures. No refined serovar network stood out as having a particular set of characteristics that could be used to shape intervention. Teasing out an individual infection network with unique characteristics will require the development and use of other microbiological tools.

Abstract:Genetic heterogeneity is well documented in patients with mitochondrial encephalomyopathy, lactic acidosis, and strokelike episodes (MELAS). About 80% of typical MELAS patients harbor a heteroplasmic point mutation in the tRNALeu(UUR) gene at nucleotide position 3243 of the mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA).1 Ten other mutations have been identified to date. We report the clinical, radiologic, and histologic data of a new case of MELAS associated with a G13513A mutation in the mitochondrial ND5 gene. This association was first described in one patient,2 and more recently identified in four others.3 In our case, the remarkable features were the late age at onset and the existence of recurrent brain hematomas. This case history was briefly reported4 before the mtDNA mutation was identified. A nonhypertensive 31-year-old woman had presented with repeated, generalized or left-sided seizures preceded by headache. CT scan showed a right anterior border zone infarct. Abstract:Porcine rotavirus A (RVA) is one of the major etiological agents of diarrhea in piglets and constitutes a significant threat to the swine industry. A molecular epidemiological investigation was conducted on 2422 diarrhea samples from Chinese pig farms to enhance our understanding of the molecular epidemiology and evolutionary diversity of RVA. The findings revealed an average RVA positivity rate of 42% (943/2422), and the study included data from 26 provinces, primarily in the eastern, southern and southwestern regions. Genetic evolutionary analysis revealed that G9 was the predominant genotype among the G-type genotypes, accounting for 25.32% of the total. The VP4 genotypes were P[7] (36.49%) and P[23] (36.49%). The predominant genotypic combinations of RVA were G9P[23] and G9P[7]. Eleven RVA strains were obtained via MA104 cell isolation. A rat model was established to assess the pathogenicity of these strains, with three strains exhibiting high pathogenicity in the model. Specifically, the RVA Porcine CHN HUBEI 2022 (Q-1), RVA Porcine CHN SHANXI 2022 (3.14-E), and RVA Porcine CHN HUBEI 2022 (5.11-U) strains were shown to cause diarrhea in the rats and damage the intestinal villi during the proliferation phase of the infection, leading to characteristic lesions in the small intestine. These data indicate that continuous monitoring of RVA can provide essential data for the prevention and control of this virus.

Abstract:Group A rotaviruses of the family Reoviridae is one of the important intestinal pathogens causing diarrhea in piglets and humans. A human-porcine reassortment rotavirus, GDJM1, was identified from outbreak of diarrhea in suckling piglets and it associated with 60.00% (324/540) morbidity and 20.99% (68/324) mortality in Guangdong Province of China in 2022. Thus, to further characterize the evolutionary diversity of GDJM1, all gene segments were analyzed. The genome constellation was G9-P[19]-I5-R1-C1-M1-A8-N1-T1-E1-H1. Nucleotide sequence identity and phylogenetic analyses showed that the VP6, VP7, NSP4 and NSP5 genes of GDJM1 were the most closely related to the respective genes of porcine strains, with the highest homology ranging from 95.65-98.55% identity. The remaining seven genes (VP1-VP4, NSP1-NSP3) were the most closely related to human strains, with the highest homology ranging from 91.83-96.69% similarity. Therefore, it is likely that GDJM1 emerged as the result of genetic reassortment between porcine and human rotaviruses. To our knowledge, this is the first report that a human-porcine reassortment G9P[19] RVA strain has been identified in mainland China, which providing important insights into evolutionary characterization of G9P[19] RVA strain, and reveals that the strain has a potential risk of cross-species transmission.

Abstract:Porcine rotavirus A (PoRVA) is an enteric pathogen capable of causing severe diarrhea in suckling piglets. Investigating the prevalence and molecular characteristics of PoRVA in the world, including China, is of significance for disease prevention. In 2022, a total of 25,768 samples were collected from 230 farms across China, undergoing porcine RVA positivity testing. The results showed that 86.52% of the pig farms tested positive for porcine RVA, with an overall positive rate of 51.15%. Through the genetic evolution analysis of VP7, VP4 and VP6 genes, it was revealed that G9 is the predominant genotype within the VP7 segment, constituting 56.55%. VP4 genotypes were identified as P[13] (42.22%), P[23] (25.56%) and P[7] (22.22%). VP6 exhibited only two genotypes, namely I5 (88.81%) and I1 (11.19%). The prevailing genotype combination for RVA was determined as G9P[23]I5. Additionally, some RVA strains demonstrated significant homology between VP7, VP4 and VP6 genes and human RV strains, indicating the potential for human RV infection in pigs. Based on complete genome sequencing analysis, a special PoRVA strain, CHN/SD/LYXH2/2022/G4P[6]I1, had high homology with human RV strains, revealing genetic reassortment between human and porcine RV strains in vivo. Our data indicate the high prevalence, major genotypes, and cross-species transmission of porcine RVA in China. Therefore, the continuous monitoring of porcine RVA prevalence is essential, providing valuable insights for virus prevention and control, and supporting the development of candidate vaccines against porcine RVA.

Diversity of group A rotavirus of porcine rotavirus in Shandong province China

Abstract:Porcine rotavirus (PoRV) is one of the major causes of neonatal diarrhea in swine worldwide. Multiple serotypes of PoRV have been detected in diarrhea cases of suckling and weaning pigs. To date, the prevalence and molecular characterizations of PoRV circulating in swine in Shandong province of China remains largely unknown. Two hundred and twenty-six feces samples were collected from ten farms showing diarrhea in Shandong. All the samples were tested by RT-PCR for the presence of PoRV, TGEV, or PEDV. The results showed that all farms are positive for PEDV, and 60% and 10% of the farms are positive for PoRV and TGEV respectively. PoRV was detected in 65 out of 226 (28.76%) samples collected from 1-3 months old suckling and weaning pigs, while the positive rates of the TGEV and PEDV were 2.21% and 34.96%, respectively. The present data emphasized that PoRV is an important pathogen causing diarrhea in swine in China. In addition, VP6 and VP7 genes of PoRVs were sequenced and analyzed. Phylogenetical analysis of VP6 showed that all of the five PoRVs belong to group A rotavirus, meanwhile VP7 genes belong to the G3, G5, and G9 genotypes. Moreover, G5 and G9 genotypes are the dominant genotypes. Taken together, co-infections of TGEV, PEDV, and PoRV occur in pig population in Shandong, and the multiple serotypes of PoRVs are circulating in those herds, suggesting the active surveillance and matched vaccine application.

Abstract:Group A porcine rotavirus (RVA) is a serious threat to the breeding industry worldwide, which was associated with severe diarrhea in piglets. However, the prevalence and molecular characterizations of RVA circulating in farms of East China remains largely unknown. Five hundred and ninety-four samples were collected from 35 farms in East China from September 2017 to December 2019. The results showed that 16.8% was positive for RVA of all samples. Among different types of samples, the highest positive rate of RVA was intestinal samples (19.5%), and among pigs at different growth stages, the highest detection rate of RVA in piglets was 18.5%. Furthermore, the VP7 and VP4 genes of nine positive samples were sequenced for alignment and phylogenetic analysis. Phylogenetic analysis revealed that the nine isolates belong to four kinds of genotype combinations correspondingly: G9P[7](5/9), G5P[13](2/9), G9P[13](1/9), and G5P[7](1/9).The data suggested that multiple genotypes combinations of RVA were circulating in pigs in East China. Thus, it's necessary to continuously survey the prevalence of RVA in pigs, aiding the rational application of vaccines or other measures for the prevention and control of RVA spread.

Abstract:Group A rotaviruses (RVAs) are major causes of severe gastroenteritis in infants and young animals. To enhance our understanding of the relationship between human and animals RVAs, complete genome data are necessary. We screened 92 intestinal and stool samples from diarrheic piglets by RT‒PCR targeting the VP6 gene, revealing a prevalence of 10.9%. RVA was confirmed in two out of 5 calf samples. We successfully isolated two porcine samples using MA104 cell line. The full-length genetic constellation of the two isolates were determined to be G9-P[23]-I5-R1-C1-M1-A8-N1-T7-E1-H1, with close similarity to human Wa-like and porcine strains. Sequence analysis revealed the majority of genes were closely related to porcine and human RVAs. Phylogenetic analysis revealed that these isolates might have their ancestral origin from pigs, although some of their gene segments were related to human strains. This study reveals evidence of reassortment and possible interspecies transmission between pigs and humans in China.

Abstract:G9 group A rotaviruses (RVAs) are considered emerging pathogens in pigs and humans, and pigs are considered a potential host reservoir for human G9 RVAs. In this study, RVAs of two genotypes, G9P[23] and G9P[13], were successfully isolated and the genomic sequences were obtained, the genome constellation is G9-P[23]-I5-R1-C1-M1-A8-N1-T1-E1-H1 and G9-P[13]-I5-R1-C1-M1-A8-N1-T7-E1-H1 respectively. One strain which amplified from clinic faecal sample had an unique genome constellation G9-P[23]-I1-R1-C1-M1-A8-N1-T1-E1-H1. All the genomic segments of three porcine G9 RVAs were closely related to those of porcine and/or porcine-like human RVAs, demonstrating that the three viruses were porcine-human reassortant strains. To study the immunogenicity of the porcine G9 RVAs, 6-week-old female BALB/c mice were immunized with inactivated vaccines derived from porcine RVAs and then mated. The highest titres of neutralizing antibodies against G9P[23] and G9P[13] porcine RVAs (1,291 ± 35.22 and 1:232 ± 39.28 respectively) were produced in mice 7 days after the second immunization. Suckling mice born to the vaccinated dams were protected by maternal antibodies against challenge with homologous strains. Overall, our data demonstrate the occurrence of porcine-human reassortants of G9 RVAs, and extend our understanding of the immunogenicity of porcine G9 rotaviruses. They also provide a basis for the development of a porcine G9 RVA vaccine.
Epidemiological monitoring and genetic variation analysis of pathogens associated with porcine viral diarrhea in southern China from 2021 to 2023

Abstract:Large-scale outbreaks of virus-associated severe diarrhea have occurred in pig populations since 2010. To investigate the prevalence and genetic evolution of the diarrhea-associated viruses responsible for the outbreaks, we tested 1,791 diarrhea samples collected from 213 pig farms in five provinces in southern China between 2021 and 2023. The test results showed that porcine epidemic diarrhea virus (PEDV) was the most frequently detected virus. The prevalence rates ranged from 47.40 to 52.22% in samples and 76.06% (162/213) in pig farms. Porcine rotavirus (PoRV) was the second common virus, with prevalence rates ranging from 25.81 to 50.81% in samples and 72.77%(155/213) in pig farms. Porcine delta coronavirus (PDCoV) was the third common virus, with prevalence rates ranging from 16.33 to 17.48% in samples and 38.50% (82/213) in pig farms. The detection rates of both transmissible gastroenteritis virus (TGEV) and porcine acute diarrheal syndrome coronavirus (SADS-CoV) were very low, less than 1.01% in samples and less than 3.76% in pig farms. In this study, we found SADS-CoV only in piglet diarrhea samples from Jiangxi, Guangdong, and Guangxi provinces in China, with a prevalence rate of 5.16% (11/213) in pig farms. Co-infection with these diarrhea-associated viruses is a common occurrence. The most common co-infections were PEDV and PoRV, with a prevalence rate of 6.64% (119/1,791), followed by PDCoV and PoRV, with a prevalence rate of 4.19% (75/1,791). Phylogenetic analyses showed that PEDV and PEDV variants prevalent in southern China during the past three years clustered into genotype GIIb and recombinant PEDV subtypes. Among the currently endemic PEDV, the most common mutations occurred in the collagenase equivalent (COE) and epitope regions of the spike gene. PoRV strains were mainly dominated by the G9 subtype, followed by the G5, G3 and G4 subtypes. Our results suggest that variant PEDV, PDCoV and PoRV are the main pathogens of swine diarrhea, and singular- or co-infection with pathogenic enteric CoV is common in pig herds in southern China. Therefore, prevention and control of porcine viral diarrhea should be given high attention.

Recombinant porcine norovirus identified from piglet with diarrhea

Abstract:Abstract Background Noroviruses (NoVs) are members of the family Caliciviridae and are emerging enteric pathogens of humans and animals. Some porcine NoVs are genetically similar to human strains and are classified into GII, like most epidemic human NoVs. So far, PoNoV have been exclusively detected in fecal samples of adult pig without clinical signs. Results Result showed that 2 of the 12 evaluated fecal samples were positive for PoNoVs, one of which was positive for PoNoV alone, and the other was coinfected with porcine circovirus and PoNoV. Phylogenetic and recombination analysis showed that the PoNoV positive alone strain was a recombinant new genotype strain. Experimental infection of miniature pigs with fecal suspensions confirmed that this strain can cause gastroenteritis in piglets. Conclusion This is the first report that recombinant new genotype PoNoV exised in pig herd of China, which cause diarrhea in pigs in nature condition. This find raised questions about the putative epidemiologic role of PoNoV.

Abstract:Porcine epidemic diarrhea (PEDV) has raised growing concerns in the pig-breeding industry because it has caused significant economic losses. To better understand the molecular epidemiology and genetic diversity of PEDV field isolates, in this study, the complete spike (S) and ORF3 genes of 17 PEDV variants in Zhejiang, China during 2014 to 2017, were characterized and analyzed. Phylogenetic analysis based on the S gene and ORF3 gene of these 17 novel PEDV strains and PEDV reference strains indicated that all the PEDV strains fell into two groups designated G1 and G2. Notably, the strains identified in 2014-2015 were in G2, while the other five strains identified from 2016 to 2017 were in G1. Sequencing and phylogenetic analyses showed that recently prevalent Chinese PEDV field strains shared higher identities with United States strains than with South Korean strains. Compared with classical vaccine strains, a series of deletions and frequently occurring mutations were observed in the receptor binding domains of our PEDV strains. Besides, we successfully isolated and reported the genetic characterization two novel PEDV strains, PEDV-LA1 and PEDV-LY4-98, found on the Chinese mainland, which had significant variations in the S gene. Meanwhile, the virulence of the new mutants may be changed, the PEDV-LY4-98 strain, which has multiple mutations in the signal peptide-encoding fragment of the S gene showed delayed cytopathic effects and smaller plaque size compared with strain PEDV-LA1, which lacks these mutations. Three unique amino acid substitutions (L7, G8, and V9) were identified in the SP-encoding fragment of the S1 N-terminal domain of the PEDV-LY4-98 S protein compared with the S proteins of all the previous PEDV strains. The animal experiment revealed that these two novel strains were high pathogenic to neonatal pigs. Whether these amino acids substitutions and the N-glycosylation site substitutions influence the antigenicity and pathogenicity of PEDV remains to be investigated. Meanwhile, amino acid substitutions in the neutralizing epitopes may have conferred the capacity for immune evasion in these PEDV field strains. This study improves our understanding of ongoing PEDV outbreaks in China, and it will guide further efforts to develop effective measures to control this virus.

Abstract:Gastrointestinal tract infections with acute diarrhea are indeed a serious cause of concern that held back the swine industry of North East India and among the various etiological agents causing the disease, group A rotavirus is the most common. In this regard, molecular characterization of the viral strains circulating in the region is of utmost importance for a strategic approach to control the disease. Thus, in the present study, diarrheic fecal samples from piglets of Tripura and Assam were evaluated for genotypic characterization of VP7 and VP4 gene of the virus. The samples positive for group A rotavirus were subjected to G and P type determination by nested- multiplex RT PCR as well as nucleotide sequencing of VP7 and VP4 gene. Nested- multiplex RT PCR revealed the presence of porcine group A rotavirus in the genotypic combination of G1P[6], G3P[6], G8P[6] and G4P[6] in the two states of North East India. Nucleotide sequencing of VP7 and VP4 genes however, revealed emergence of an unusual genotypic combination G26P[13]. VP7 and VP4 nucleotide and its deduced amino acid sequences when compared with global isolates, showed that the present strains shared closest similarity to the porcine rotavirus strain TJ4-1from Japan and hp140 from Eastern India. Identification of a novel genotype G26P[13] in the RVA infected pig population of Tripura and Assam, suggested presence of a greater diversity in rotavirus strains in the region. Thus, it evokes the need for continuous monitoring to assess and consider the strain variability in the design of a suitable vaccine candidate against the virus. Chloroquine-induced phospholipidosis of the kidney mimicking Fabry's disease: case report and review of the literature.

Abstract:A 46-year-old female patient with Sjögren's syndrome, hypertension, and stable chronic renal insufficiency (creatinine [CR], 1.9 to 2.1 mg/dL) had a progressive worsening of renal function (CR, 5.0 mg/dL) after 11 months of chloroquine therapy (155 mg/day; cumulative dose of approximately 51 g). Light microscopy revealed nonspecific angionephrosclerosis. Electron microscopy showed accumulations of lamellated myelinoid material and occasionally also of curvilinear bodies, especially in the glomerular podocytes and to a lesser extent in vascular myothelial and endothelial cells. In the tubular system, mainly protein droplets were stored. Activity of alpha-galactosidase A was normal in isolated leukocytes (56 nmol/mg; range, 33.2 to 109 nmol/mg), ruling out Fabry's disease. Clinical, morphological, and biochemical findings were consistent with chloroquine-associated deterioration of renal function that improved considerably after discontinuation of chloroquine treatment. Adverse effects of chloroquine may aggravate preexisting renal disease. Electron microscopy is a worthwhile tool for establishing the correct diagnosis.

Abstract:Piglet diarrhea caused by the porcine epidemic diarrhea virus (PEDV) is a common problem on pig farms in China associated with high morbidity and mortality rates. In this study, three PEDV isolates were successfully detected after the fourth blind passage in Vero cells. The samples were obtained from infected piglet farms in Jilin (Changchun), and Shandong (Qingdao) Provinces of China and were designated as CH/CC-1/2018, CH/CC-2/2018, and CH/QD/2018. According to the analysis of the complete S protein gene sequence, the CH/CC-1/2018 and CH/CC-2/2018 were allocated to the G2b branch, while CH/QD/2018 was located in the G1a interval and was closer to the vaccine strain CV777. Successful detection and identification of the isolated strains were carried out using electron microscopy and indirect immunofluorescence. Meanwhile, animal challenge experiments and viral RNA copies determination were used to compare the pathogenicity. The results showed that CH/CC-1/2018 in Changchun was more pathogenic than CH/QD/2018 in Qingdao. In conclusion, the discovery of these new strains is conducive to the development of vaccines to prevent the pandemic of PEDV, especially that the CH/CC-1/2018, and CH/CC-2/2018 were not related to the classical vaccine strain CV777.

Prevalence and diversity of rotavirus A in pigs: Evidence for a possible reservoir in human infection

Abstract:Background: Rotavirus A (RVA) are a group of diverse viruses causing acute gastroenteritis (AGE) in humans and animals. Zoonotic transmission is an important mechanism for rotavirus evolution and strain diversity in humans, but the extent of pigs as a major reservoir for human infection is not clear. Methods and findings: We have surveyed 153 pig farms across Taiwan with a total of 4588 porcine stool samples from three age groups from 2014 to 2017. Nursing piglets (less than one month of age) had higher detection rate for rotavirus than older age groups. Five VP7 (G) genotypes and 5 VP4 (P) genotypes were found in a total of 14 different G/P genotype combinations. In addition, porcine RVA strains had 2 NSP4 (E) genotypes and 3 VP6 (I) genotypes. A P[3]-like genotype was also discovered among strains collected in 2016 and 2017. Conclusions: Most of the genes from Taiwanese porcine strains clustered with each other and the lineages formed by these strains were distinct from the sequences of numerous regional variants or globally circulating porcine strains, suggesting an independent evolutionary history for Taiwanese rotavirus genotypes. The close relationship among porcine RVA strains and some unique porcine-like genotypes detected sporadically among human children in swine farms illustrates that pigs might serve as a reservoir for potential zoonotic transmission and novel genotype evolution in Taiwan's insular environment.

Abstract:Group A rotavirus (RV-A) with short electropherotype was identified by ss-PAGE in a neonatal diarrhea outbreak at a Brazilian pig farm where the sows were regularly vaccinated with a commercial vaccine containing OSU (G5P[7]) and Gottfried (G4P[6]) porcine RV-A (PoRV-A) strains. The ss-PAGE positive stool samples (n=20) were characterized as P[6] genotype by multiplex-nested-RT-PCR assay. The nucleotide analysis of the VP4 gene (VP8*) state that the viruses clustered in P[6] lineages that are also shared by RV-A strains identified in human hosts. Nucleotide analysis of the VP7 gene identified different lineages in G4 including a new lineage tentatively designated IX. The immunological pressure induced by commercial vaccine with a rotavirus containing a G4P[6] genotype of porcine origin (Gottfried strain) might have allowed the selection of PoRV-A strains with characteristics found in RV-A strains isolated of human hosts, such as P[6]-Ie and If, and promoted the selection or emergence of RV-A strains with a new lineage of the G4 genotype. The characterization of PoRV-A strains with unusual genotypes described in this study highlight the importance of surveys on the relationship between human and animal rotavirus strains.
