Abstract:Occult hydrocephalus has received increasing attention during the last few years due to the reversibility of the serious, associated, symptoms, which include dementia and apraxia of gait. A vast number of these patients may be rescued by the insertion of an atrioventricular shunt or similar procedure. The often dramatic improvements following this relatively simple operation are well known although the nature of the underlying mechanism has not yet been agreed upon. Several theories have been offered. YAKOVLEV attributed the gait disturbances to stretching of the long paracentral fibres to the lower extremities. Abstract:Background The aim of the present study was to formulate and evaluate the herbal gels containing Chinese onion or Allium cepa (A. cepa), Yin Lian Ye or Azadirachta indica (A. indica) and Chinese peppermint or Menthe piperita (M. piperita) extracts and their antimicrobial effects against different microorganisms. All selected three plants have a good medicinal value in the Chinese medicine system. Methods A topical gel formulation was designed by using mentioned plants, as well as all three in combination with Carbopol-940 as a gelling agent with different excipients. Microbial species, such as Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus), Bacillus subtilis (B. subtilis), Escherichia coli (E. coli), Pseudomonas aeruginosa (P. aeruginosa), Aspergillus tubingensis (A. tubingensis) have been selected for the study and they are responsible for acne, directly or indirectly. Results The gel's physical characteristics met the required benchmarks. These four gel formulations effectively inhibit the growth of selected strains. According to studies, the gel was also very efficient against fungal strains and gram-negative organisms. Zones of inhibition (ZOI) were found between 2.3 and 11.2 µm. The highest ZOI was measured against P. aeruginosa. Conclusion The herbal gel was found to have highly promising anti-bacterial and anti-fungal activity against acne and many skin-related infections in a concentration-dependant manner but more research is needed.

Morphological defects include the most severe forms of cretinism due to aplasia of the gland as well as various more milder forms following application of iodine or antithyroidal drugs to the mother or TSH deficiency of the newborn. Due to general TSH-screening programs, more will be learned about the still not fully understandable etiology of connatal hypothyroidism.

Abstract:Background Plant extracts, such as Echinacea, are preferred in the pharmaceutical industry for their natural availability and minimal adverse effects. Echinacea is known for its anti-inflammatory and other biological properties. Zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnONPs) are cost-effective, safe, and easily synthesized, making them prominent in nanoparticle research. This study aims to determine the anti-inflammatory, cytotoxic, and antioxidant properties of ZnONPs synthesized using Echinacea. Methodology In this study, 5 mg of powdered Echinacea was mixed with 100 mL of distilled water, heated at 44°C until vaporization, cooled, and filtered twice. The extract was mixed with 0.1 g of zinc oxide and exposed to sunlight for two weeks for nanoparticle synthesis. After centrifugation at 3,500 rpm for eight minutes, nanoparticles were collected. Scanning electron microscope analysis was done to determine nanoparticle formation. Cytotoxicity analysis was conducted using the brine shrimp method, with surviving nauplii counted after exposure to different nanoparticle concentrations. Antioxidant activity was assessed via 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) assay and ferric-reducing antioxidant power (FRAP) assay. Anti-inflammatory activity was assessed using membrane stabilization assay and bovine serum albumin (BSA) assay. Using SPSS Statistics Version 23 (IBM Corp., Armonk, NY, USA), the mean and standard deviation between the prepared extract and the standard were compared for all assays. Results In the cytotoxicity assessment, at 5 µL, the mortality of nauplii remained unchanged from the control. However, at 10 and 20 µL, a 10% increase in mortality was observed, which then stabilized at 40 and 80 µL with 20%. Regarding antioxidant activity, as nanoparticle concentration increased from 10 to 50 µL in the DPPH and FRAP assays, their effectiveness also increased accordingly. According to the anti-inflammatory assay, the membrane stabilization and BSA assay showed an increase in activity with increasing concentrations of 10 to 50 μL extract against similar concentrations of standard diclofenac sodium. Conclusions Echinacea-based ZnONPs demonstrated effective antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties with low cytotoxicity, suggesting their potential use in future pharmaceutical or therapeutic applications.

Abstract:The principle of parsimony, embraced in all areas of science, states that simple explanations are preferable to complex explanations in theory construction. Parsimony, however, can necessitate a trade-off with depth and richness in understanding. The approach of dynamical minimalism avoids this trade-off. The goal of this approach is to identify the simplest mechanisms and fewest variables capable of producing the phenomenon in question. A dynamical model in which change is produced by simple rules repetitively interacting with each other can exhibit unexpected and complex properties. It is thus possible to explain complex psychological and social phenomena with very simple models if these models are dynamic. In dynamical minimalist theories, then, the principle of parsimony can be followed without sacrificing depth in understanding. Computer simulations have proven especially useful for investigating the emergent properties of simple models.

Abstract:Background Medicinal plants are traditionally used in Ayurveda, Unani medicine, and Siddha as primary sources of drugs, and mankind has exploited the therapeutic properties of these herbs throughout history. Coconut (Cocos nucifera), a common ingredient of Indian sub-continental cuisine, has been proven to possess various medicinal properties; similarly, wheatgrass (Triticum aestivum) is of greater medicinal value and is known as the powerhouse of nutrients and vitamins. These have been used individually, but there is limited data on the synergistic use of these products. Thus, the present in vitro study was designed to prepare an oral gel from the extract of C. nucifera and T. aestivum and to assess its cumulative anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activity. Materials and methods C. nucifera extract and T. aestivum extract were prepared separately, and gel formulation was done. The formulated gel was tested for its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activity. Results The results of the present study demonstrated that the anti-inflammatory property of the gel formulation was greater as compared to the standard (diclofenac), with the highest percentage of inhibition of 90.1% at 50 μl. With regard to the antioxidant property, we found that it was comparable to the standard (ascorbic acid) at various concentrations, with greater activity at 50 μl. Conclusion The oral gel formulation of coconut (C. nucifera) and wheatgrass (T. aestivum) showed better anti-inflammatory and a comparable antioxidant activity. Thus, this formulation may be employed as an adjunct to the commercially available oral gel preparations.

Abstract:The simulation of the radiation efficiency of CP truncated-corner microstrip antennas is reported in this paper. The application of the Wheeler cap method to TCSMA radiators is only good for estimation purposes, with errors around 10%. However, for the alternate TCRMA topology, designed to operate at the Xin = 0 condition, the Wheeler method provides excellent results, with errors less than 1%. Although the amplitudes of the antenna resonant modes do not vary significantly by increasing the cap dimensions, the frequencies will tend to their free-space values. Consequently, to prevent the excitation of undesirable modes in the cavity, large structures must be avoided.

Abstract:Aim Periodontal dressings play a crucial role in periodontal surgery and dental procedures. These dressings have several functions and benefits, similar to surgical wound dressings used in other surgical contexts. Periodontal dressings protect the surgical site and control bleeding in the oral cavity as they exert pressure on tissue and blood vessels. By protecting the wound and stabilizing the tissues, periodontal dressings create an environment that encourages proper and faster healing. Recently, the use of periodontal pack has reported various postoperative discomfort to the patients. This led to the development of an interest in considering fenugreek as an alternative to periodontal dressing as it possesses various antidiabetic and hypolipidemic effects. Thus, fenugreek can be used as an alternative to periodontal dressing. The study aimed to prepare and evaluate the antimicrobial nature of fenugreek gel in oral microbes and the anti-inflammatory properties of gel with protein coagulation in egg albumin. Materials and methods The fenugreek gel preparation was done by grinding 100 g of fenugreek seeds into a powder and adding 100 ml of distilled water to the powder and then heating the mixture at 70°C for 30 minutes. Five milliliters of the fenugreek concentrate were added to an equal mixture of carboxymethyl cellulose and Carbopol which was mixed thoroughly to form a gel. The antimicrobial nature of fenugreek has been evaluated in various organisms such as <i>Streptococcus mutans, Lactobacillus, Enterococcus faecalis, and Candida albicans</i> whereas the anti-inflammatory property was evaluated by protein coagulation method in egg albumin. Results The results stated that the fenugreek gel at a concentration of 100 µg/ml showed a greater zone of inhibition (5.39 ± 0.05) compared with doxycycline (1.1 ± 0.08) for a high antimicrobial potential against all oral microbes. The anti-inflammatory activity of the gel by protein coagulation method in egg albumin showed greater inhibition (67.15±1.36) at 100 µg/ml of fenugreek extract when compared with aspirin (64.43±2.93). Paired t-test was done for both the properties and the p-value was less than 0.5 stating that the difference between the groups was statistically significant. Conclusion The present study showed that the fenugreek gel possesses higher antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties when compared with doxycycline and aspirin, respectively. Hence, fenugreek gel can be used as an alternative periodontal dressing to reduce postoperative inflammation.
Comparative Evaluation of Antibacterial Efficacy and Remineralization Potential of Acidulated Phosphate Fluoride Gel with Herbal Dental Gel Containing Zingiber officinale, Salvadora persica, and Cinnamomum zeylanicum: An In Vitro Study

Abstract:Aim: The aim of the study is to evaluate and compare the antibacterial efficacy and remineralization potential of acidulated phosphate fluoride (APF) gel with herbal dental gel containing Zingiber officinale, Salvadora persica, and Cinnamomum zeylanicum. Materials and methods: Ethanolic extracts of Z. officinale, S. persica, and C. zeylanicum were prepared. Minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) and minimum bactericidal concentration (MBC) of these extracts were determined against Streptococcus mutans and Lactobacillus acidophilus using the resazurin method and agar plate streaking method, respectively. The herbal dental gel was formulated, and its cytotoxicity was evaluated using an 3-(4,5-dimethythiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyl tetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay. The antibacterial susceptibility of APF gel and the herbal dental gel was assessed using the agar well diffusion method and time-kill assay. The remineralizing potential was evaluated using a stereomicroscope. Results: Herbal dental gel showed better antibacterial efficacy as depicted by the zone of inhibition of 20 and 21 mm obtained against S. mutans and L. acidophilus, respectively, compared to 11.50 and 16.50 mm zone of inhibition obtained by APF gel. The herbal dental gel also showed better remineralization potential than APF gel after a time interval of 24 and 48 hours, as depicted with a statistically significant p-value of 0.0061 and 0.0219, respectively. In the cytotoxicity test, the fibroblasts showed 100% viability in the presence of both study groups. Conclusion: The results of our study concluded that herbal dental gel is safe and nontoxic, having anticariogenic potential due to its good antibacterial action and remineralization potential as compared to conventional APF gel. Evaluation of antimicrobial and cytotoxic effects of Echinacea and Arctium extracts and Zataria essential oil

Abstract:Dental caries and oral infections have become a widespread issue in the modern world. This study aimed to investigate the antibacterial, antifungal, and cytotoxicity characteristics of the extracts of Echinacea purpura , Arctium lappa , and the essential oil of Zataria multiflora as a potential herbal mouthwash. The essential oil of Z. multiflora leaves and the extracts of E. purpurea and A. lappa roots were prepared. The characterization was carried out by GC-MS and also, total phenol and flavonoid were assed for all three samples. The antimicrobial and anti-biofilm effects were evaluated against Streptococcus mutans, Streptococcus mitis, Streptococcus salivarius, Lactobacillus acidophilus, Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, and Candida albicans. The cytotoxic effect of the samples was evaluated on HEK 293 and HDFa cells by MTT test. Thymol and carvacrol contents in EO of Z. multiflora were measured at 31% and 42.2%, respectively. A. lappa had the lowest total phenolic and flavonoid value among the samples. On the other hand, the total phenolic content of Z. multiflora and the total flavonoid content of E. purpurea were the highest. The MIC values of Zataria , Arctium , and Echinacea against S. mutans were 0.011% v/v, 187.5 mg/ml, and 93.75 mg/ml, while MBC were 0.011% v/v, 375 mg/ml, and 187.5 mg/ml, respectively. The formulation showed bactericidal activity against S. mutans in the concentration of 5.86 mg/ml for Echinacea and Burdock extracts and 0.08 μl/ml for EO of Zataria. The formulation significantly affected microbial biofilm formation and induced biofilm degradation. The cell viability percentages were higher than 50% during 24 and 48 h. The formulation had a significant antimicrobial effect on cariogenic bacteria and C. albicans , with the lowest cytotoxic effects. Therefore, this formulation can be an appropriate candidate for mouthwash.

Abstract:The utilization of phytoconstituents in skin care products has emerged as a notable trend due to their recognized safety and therapeutic efficacy. However, the challenge lies in improving the effective delivery of phytoconstituents to specific tissues, primarily attributed to their poor solubility and low permeability. This study endeavors to address this challenge by developing, optimizing and characterizing Cucumis melo var. agrestis (CME) extract loaded nanoemulsion gel (CME-NEG), aiming to enhance the skin permeability and antifungal activity. Herein, nanoemulsions encapsulating the plant extract were prepared using ultrasonication technique and were characterized for droplet size, zeta potential, polydispersity index (PDI) and entrapment efficiency. Further, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) analysis were conducted to characterize the optimized CME extract loaded nanoemulsion (CME-NE 3) formulation. The optimized formulation was blended with Carbopol 940 gel to develop CME-NEG, which was evaluated for release kinetics, in vitro permeation and in vitro antifungal activity. High performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) analysis confirmed the presence of gallic acid, chlorogenic acid, 4-Hydroxy benzoic acid (HB acid), kaempferol, caffeic acid and quercetin. Findings of 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) assay showed that the ethanolic extract had highest antioxidant activity (88.88 %). The optimized formulation displayed smooth spherical nanodroplets with size of 175.5 ± 1.56 nm, zeta potential of -21.5 ± 0.12 mV, PDI of 0.192 ± 0.06, and highest entrapment efficiency (EE) of 91.35 ± 1.65 %. The release profile of CME-NE exhibited a controlled release characteristic and the release kinetic mechanism was best described by the Korsmeyer-Peppas (Kp) model. In a 24 h permeation study, it was observed that the in vitro permeation of CME-NEG was 58.63 %, significantly higher than that of CME extract loaded plain gel (CME-PG) with an enhancement ratio of 2.12. The prepared CME-NEG formulation also presented enhanced antifungal activity as compared to pure CME extract. In conclusion, the designed CME-NEG offers a promising topical drug delivery system with enhanced skin permeability and antifungal activity.
A Novel Gum Paint Formulation Derived From Licorice and Triphala: Characteristics and Clinical Significance for Improved Oral Health

Abstract:Background: The clinical use of antimicrobial agents for managing aphthous ulcers and periodontal diseases has long been a subject of intensive research by numerous investigators. As concerns over the side effects and antibiotic resistance associated with conventional therapies persist, there has been a concerted effort to explore alternative medicinal approaches. In line with this objective, our study introduces a novel herbal gum paint designed specifically to address the therapeutic needs of individuals suffering from oral ulcers and periodontal diseases. Materials and methods: The herbal formulation utilized in our study was prepared using extracts derived from Licorice (Glycyrrhiza glabra) and Triphala, a combination of three fruits: Emblica officinalis, Terminalia chebula, and Terminalia belerica. These ingredients were selected based on their documented medicinal properties. The preparation process involved extraction and formulation techniques optimized for maximum efficacy. Antimicrobial activity was assessed using the bacterial culture method, where the formulation's ability to inhibit the growth of specific bacterial strains relevant to oral health was tested. Meanwhile, cytotoxicity was evaluated using the Brine Shrimp Assay method. Statistical analysis was conducted using a one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and Tukey post hoc test to validate the significance of our findings with statistical significance set at p<0.05. Results: The formulation exhibited significant activity against microbes when compared to the control. The cytotoxic activity was present at a concentration of 60 and 80µL, which indicated safe usage within specified concentration ranges, highlighting its potential for clinical application without adverse effects on biological systems. Statistically significant differences were obtained between the antimicrobial activity of the formulated gum paint and the commercial gum paint against Candida albicans species at 25 µL and 80 µL (p=0.00). Conclusion: The study underscores the promising therapeutic potential of the herbal gum paint developed in this research. By harnessing the natural antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties of Licorice and Triphala, the formulated gum paint showed efficacy against C. albicans. These findings contribute to the growing body of evidence supporting the integration of herbal remedies into mainstream oral healthcare practices. Future investigations could further elucidate the mechanisms underlying its therapeutic actions and explore its broader clinical applications in diverse patient populations.
Exploring the Potential of a Herbal Nanoemulsion as an Antimicrobial Mouthwash

Abstract:The study aimed to formulate a nanoemulsion, combine it with aqueous extracts of herbal powders, and test its efficiency as caries-preventing mouthwash. Formulation of nanoemulsion using microfluidizer, characterization of nanoemulsion, minimum inhibitory concentration, adherence test, biofilm assay, and artificial mouth assay was carried out. The biofilms of Streptococcus mutans, Lactobacillus casei, Actinomyces viscosus, and a combination of the three cultures were developed and treated with formulations to study the inhibitory effect of the samples. In artificial mouth assay, human tooth samples were used as surfaces to grow the biofilm of S. mutans, and daily, the teeth were treated with the formulations to test their real-time efficiency. The nanoemulsion was characterized using dynamic light scattering and the size of the particles was within the 100-300 nm range. Above 50 °C, the nanoemulsion combined with plant extract lost its emulsified state within 2 h of incubation, while the nanoemulsion was stable. Nanoemulsion with plant extract inhibited the adherence of L. casei (73%) and biofilm of L. casei (66%). In artificial mouth assay, after 10 days of nanoemulsion, nanoemulsion with plant extract showed DIAGNOdent pen values 3.5 and 2 respectively whereas the negative control value was 14.4 indicating caries initiation. The nanoemulsion with plant extract showed anti-adherence and anti-biofilm activity and hence can be used as a potent anticariogenic mouthwash.

Abstract:Objective: Acne, one among the very fashionable socially distressing skin conditions created by Propionibacterium acne have generally been treated by antibiotics. Within the light of the growing threat of antibiotic resistance, natural plant products are applied as a safer alternative. Keeping the very fact in the background, during this research work, the formulation of gel from the extracts of Murraya koeinigii leaves are prepared and evaluated as an anti-acne drug. Methods: The fresh leaf extracts were subjected to phytochemical and antimicrobial screening. Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) decided. Gel formulation of the extracts was developed and evaluated. The manufactured formulations were subjected to In vitro antibacterial activity against P. acnes, S. epidermidis and S. aureus. The marker compound, clindamycin, in herbal anti-acne preparation, was kept for the comparison with the zones of inhibition for antibacterial activity. Results: Anti-acne property was explored with the help of a standard curve and by comparing diffusion profiles by taking clindamycin as a reference. Conclusion: From the present study it can be concluded that addition of permeation enhancer in the test formulation will improve the diffusion profile and thus it was designed to add permeation enhancer.

Abstract:Objective: The research works objective was to develop and test a gel that contained anthocyanin of Phaseolus vulgaris L. extract and to study it’s anti-inflammatory activity. Material and Method: By macerating Phaseolus vulgaris L. with 1% HCl (v/v) in methanol as the solvent, anthocyanin was extracted from the seed coat. Anthocyanin gels were produced utilizing a variety of polymers, including carbopol-940, sodium-CMC, chitosan, and other ingredients, including ethanol, lavender oil, propylene glycol, methyl paraben, and propyl paraben. All of the formulations of anthocyanin gel were studied for FTIR, pH, viscosity, spreadability, extrudability, drug content, and in-vitro drug release studies. The optimal formulation was then carried through a clinical investigation. Result and Discussion: Formulations for anthocyanin gels can be made utilising various gelling agents, such as carbopol-940, sodium-CMC, chitosan at different concentrations. Gel formulated using Chitosan (F3) showed better results of composition with decreased viscosity, enhanced extrudability, and a respectable amount of drug release. Formulation F3 by 2% of chitosan was best choice for anti-inflammatory activity in clinical study. Hence, Anthocyanin proved it’s potential for inflammation that implies moderate to marked improvement with significant results in subjects.

Abstract:Aim: Aim of the present study was to evaluate anti-inflammatory effect of Ocimum sanctum leaves in the formulation of hydrogel using different types of animal models. Materials and Methods: Ethanolic extract of O. sanctum leaves was fractionated with methanol to get methanolic fraction. Methanolic fraction (1% vw/w) was used for hydrogel formulation with different combination of Carbopol 940 and Sodium CMC. Prepared hydrogel was characterized for optimum physical characters, pH, spreadability, homogeneity, viscosity, release profile, and irritation effect. Optimized hydrogel was evaluated for anti-inflammatory effect using xylene-induced, croton oilinduced ear edema, and cotton pellet-induced granuloma model in animals. Effect was monitored by measurement of percent inhibition, nitric oxide (NO), and myeloperoxidase (MPO) levels in mice ears after acute inflammation induced by croton oil. Results and Discussion: Physical evaluation confirmed the color of the prepared hydrogels was brownish and appearance was homogeneous and smooth on application. All other evaluation parameters, for example, pH, viscosity, spreadability, and consistency were found suitable in F3 hydrogel formulation combination. Hence, the optimize composition of F3 formulation was observed as 1.5 g of Carbopol 940 and 1% of Sodium CMC. Percent inhibition of edema in xylene induced ear edema in mice was found comparable to standard group of treatment (65.59%). In the present study, result indicates that prepared hydrogel hydrogel of methanol fraction of O. sanctum possesses inhibitory effects against acute inflammation. The results showing the ability of croton oil to induce neutrophil influx into mice ear tissue. This may be reduced by treatment with extract hydrogels, as well as Voltaren Emulgel, reduced significantly (P<0.01) the MPO levels and NO levels in mice ears. Conclusion: The methanol extracts was exhibits its anti-inflammatory action significantly may be due to the presence of flavonoids in O. sanctum leaves.

Abstract:Background: The tropical plant acerola of the genus Malpighia includes shrubs and trees with fruit that is high in nutrients and bioactive chemicals. Acerola stands out due to its exceptionally high ascorbic acid content, ranging from 1500 to 4500 mg/100 g. Vitamin C intake greatly influences gingival health. The addition of nanoparticles along with vitamin C-rich acerola exhibits high antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, thereby positively improving gingival health. Method: The antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties of aqueous extracts of the acerola plant (Malpighia emarginata) were assessed. Silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) and copper oxide nanoparticles (CuONPs) were synthesized using the aqueous extract of acerola cherry gel by the phytogenic fabrication method. The antioxidant potential of silver and copper nanoparticles was evaluated using 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH), hydrogen peroxide, ferric reducing antioxidant power (FRAP), 2,2'-azino-bis(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) (ABTS), and nitric oxide scavenging activities. Results: Increasing concentrations of nanoparticles showed an increase in scavenging activity. Overall, CuONPs and AgNPs exhibited remarkable radical quenching efficacies. The anti-inflammatory effectiveness of CuONPs and AgNPs was monitored, showing suppression of protein denaturation as demonstrated by bovine serum albumin (BSA), egg albumin (EA), and membrane stabilization assays. The results revealed that increasing the doses of CuONPs and AgNPs had a positive impact on the anti-inflammatory activity of the nanoparticles. Conclusion: The present study revealed that both nanoparticles provided better antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities. This study also elaborates on the pharmacological potential of both nanoparticles, which could be further explored for application in all healthcare sectors.

Abstract:Skin infections are among the bacterial infections that present significant therapeutic challenges due to antibiotic resistance. Recently, herbal products clutched a significant attention as safe replacements for other medications but their low aqueous solubility and poor bioavailability are considered major challenges which could be circumvented via formulation. As a species of genera Araucaria , Araucaria Heterophylla possesses pharmacological activities such as antioxidant and antibacterial actions, and this study aimed to standardize the extract of the plant against 4ʹʹʹmethoxyamentoflavone (as a main component of the extract) through a validated UPLC-MS/MS method and evaluate its antibacterial activity, which was followed by loading the standardized extract into a nanoemulsion to form a phytonanoemulsion (PNE), where the design analysis and optimization were performed through a simplex lattice design. The optimized PNE (PNE 3) was then loaded into HPMC/Pluronic F-127 gel (in ratio 1:4) to sustain the release of the active constituent. The heightened penetrability of PNE 3 gel was visualized via confocal laser scanning microscopy, and its prolonged effect was proved thru an in vivo study conducted on male Wistar rats. A histopathological study revealed the safety of the formulation when applied topically. Thus, PNE gel could be a potentially broad-spectrum antibacterial drug delivery system.
