Abstract:In the context of the COVID-19, inflammation emerges as a prominent characteristic. C-reactive protein (CRP) serves as a commonly employed marker for the evaluation of inflammation. This study aimed to examine the correlation between CRP levels and antipsychotic drug concentrations in patients diagnosed with SCZ during the COVID-19 pandemic. A total of 186 SCZ patients were included in this study, which utilized electronic medical records. The collected data encompassed SCZ diagnoses based on the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fourth Edition (DSM-IV) criteria, respiratory symptoms, and treatments. Laboratory assessments involved the measurement of CRP levels and monitoring of blood drug concentrations. The most prevalent symptoms observed in the patient cohort were fever (59.14%), cough (52.15%), fatigue (45.7%), sore throat (46.24%), runny nose (28.49%), and stuffy nose (25.27%). The levels of CRP during the infection period were significantly higher compared to both the prophase and anaphase of infection (all p < 0.001). The serum levels of clozapine, olanzapine, aripiprazole, quetiapine, and risperidone were elevated during the infection period (all p < 0.001). During the anaphase of infection, patients exhibited higher serum levels of clozapine, olanzapine, and risperidone (all p < 0.001) compared to the infection period, but there was no significant change in serum levels of aripiprazole and quetiapine. Multiple regression analysis revealed a statistically significant positive correlation (P < 0.0001) between CRP and clozapine concentration. In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, it is crucial to adjust the dosage based on drug serum concentration to prevent intoxication or adverse drug reactions.

Abstract:This study investigated the impacts of risk perception of COVID-19 on anxiety and depression symptoms among hospital pharmacists in China. We conducted a cross-sectional study with hospital pharmacists during the COVID-19 pandemic in China. Some 4,219 hospital pharmacists completed an online survey including demographic questions, risk perception of COVID-19, General Anxiety Disorder-7, Patient Health Questionnaire-9, and Positive and Negative Affect Schedule. Multivariate regression and mediation analyses were conducted. The results indicated that 41.9% and 29.4% of hospital pharmacists experienced mild to severe levels of anxiety and depression symptoms, respectively. In older age, a higher level of risk perception of COVID-19, and negative affect experience were risk factors, whereas positive affect experience was a protective factor for anxiety and depression symptoms among pharmacists. Experience of positive and negative affect mediated the relationship between risk perception of COVID-19 and anxiety and depression among hospital pharmacists in China. Timely mental health services need to be provided for hospital pharmacists during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Abstract:The objective is to investigate coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19)-associated neurological and psychiatric effects and explore possible pathogenic mechanisms. This study included 77 patients with laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 in Wuhan, China. Neurological manifestations were evaluated by well-trained neurologists, psychologists, psychiatric presentations and biochemical changes were evaluated using the Generalized Anxiety Disorder 7-item scale, Patient Health Questionnaire-9, Brief Psychiatric Rating Scale, and electronic medical records. Eighteen (23.4%) patients presented with neurological symptoms. Patients with neurological presentations had higher urea nitrogen, cystatin C, and high-sensitivity C-reactive protein levels and lower basophil counts. Among them, patients with muscle involvement had higher urea nitrogen and cystatin C levels but lower basophil counts. In addition, patients with psychiatric presentations were older and had higher interleukin (IL)-6 and IL-10 levels and higher alkaline phosphatase, R-glutamate transferase, and urea nitrogen levels. Moreover, patients with anxiety had higher IL-6 and IL-10 levels than those without, and patients with moderate depression had higher CD8 + T cell counts and lower CD4 + /CD8 + ratios than other patients. This study indicates that the central nervous system may be influenced in patients with COVID-19, and the pathological mechanisms may be related to direct virus invasion of the central nervous system, infection-mediated overreaction of the immune system, and aberrant serum pro-inflammatory factors. In addition, basophils and cystatin C may also play important roles during these pathological processes. Our findings suggest that neurological and psychiatric presentations should be evaluated and managed in patients with COVID-19. Further studies are needed to investigate the underlying mechanisms.
Antipsychotic exposure and infection risk in people with schizophrenia spectrum disorders during the COVID-19 pandemic: a Danish nationwide registry study

Abstract:Background: Infection risk and mortality are increased in schizophrenia spectrum disorders, which was corroborated during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, evidence is lacking regarding the additional impact of antipsychotic drugs, and the highly debated safety of clozapine treatment during large-scale infection outbreaks. Therefore, we aimed to investigate risk of COVID-19 and non-COVID respiratory infections during exposure to antipsychotics. Methods: We used several nationwide Danish registers (National Prescription Registry, National Hospital Registry, Psychiatric Research Register, Microbiology Database, Vaccination Registry, Cause of Death Registry, and Database for Labour market Research) to investigate all individuals aged 18 years or older with a schizophrenia spectrum disorder (ICD-10: F20-F29) living in Denmark between Jan 1 and March 1, 2020. Antipsychotic exposure groups were defined as prevalent-users and incident-users. The full observation period was March 1, 2020 to Dec 31, 2021. Antipsychotic exposure was defined in a time-varying manner and compared with non-exposure. Risk was calculated for mild infection outcomes (positive SARS-CoV-2 PCR and anti-infective drug prescriptions) and severe infection outcomes (hospitalisation and death) related to COVID-19 and non-COVID-19 respiratory infections. Outcomes were adjusted for demographics, socio-economic factors, and comorbidity. Findings: Of 85 083 individuals (44 293 men [52·1%] and 40 790 women [47·9%], median age 45·8 years [IQR 31·1-60·2]) with pre-existing schizophrenia spectrum disorders, 30 984 had antipsychotic exposure periods. Ethnicity data were not available. During antipsychotic exposure compared with non-exposed periods, assessing mild infection outcomes, risk of a positive SARS-CoV-2 test was decreased (hazard ratio 0·91 [95% CI 0·85-0·97]) and risk of redeeming an anti-infective drug was not statistically significantly different (1·01 [0·97-1·06]). For severe infection outcomes, COVID-19-related hospitalisation risk was increased (1·28 [1·07-1·52]) although COVID-19-related death was not statistically significantly increased (1·24 [0·82-1·86]). For non-COVID-19 respiratory infections, risk was increased both for hospitalisation (1·61 [1·44-1·79]) and death (1·61 [1·18-2·21]). Specifically, COVID-19 hospitalisation risk was increased in individuals older than 70 years, and non-COVID-19 hospitalisation risk increased in individuals older than 40 years and death risk in age groups of 50-59 years and 70-79 years. Based on homogeneity testing, no apparent excess risk of any outcome was observed with clozapine exposure compared with other antipsychotics. Interpretation: During antipsychotic exposure compared with unexposed periods, risk of severe infection outcomes increases. It seems reasonable to initiate infection countermeasures, such as pneumococcal vaccination, in people older than 40 years with schizophrenia spectrum disorders, who commence or are treated with antipsychotics. We do not suggest the avoidance of specific antipsychotics but rather adherence to treatment guidelines and a call for increased vigilance regarding this at-risk group. Effect of Traditional Therapeutics on Prevalence and Clinical Outcomes of Coronavirus Disease 2019 in Chinese Patients with Autoimmune Diseases

Abstract:The impact of the Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic on autoimmune diseases (AID) patients has been an important focus. This study was undertaken to characterize the incidence, clinical manifestations and hospitalization among AID affected by COVID-19 and to analyze the association between immunomodulatory medication and these outcomes. Clinical, demographic, maintenance treatment, symptoms and disease course data and outcomes of AID patients with COVID-19 infection were assessed via an online survey tool and printed copy from 1 January till February 28, 2023. A total of 432 patients with AID were enrolled in the study. The results showed the most common conventional synthetic disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (csDMARDs) was hydroxychloroquine (HCQ). The usage of csDMARDs didn't increase the risk of COVID-19 infection. Patients who warranted hospitalization were significantly older. ILD was associated with higher hospitalization rate. No csDMARDs other than calcineurin inhibitor (CNI) was associated with increased risk of hospitalization. HCQ intake was associated with cough. Compared with no glucocorticoids (GCs) group, high doses of GCs were accompanied with higher proportion of gastrointestinal symptoms and tachycardia, lower proportion of sore throat and ageusia. GCs didn't provoke the COVID‐19 infection in patients with AID, but chronic use of oral GCs was significantly more common in those requiring hospitalization, and higher dose of GCs were correlated with higher risk of hospitalization. 97 patients discontinued csDMARDs after infection, which resulted in an elevated risk of hospitalization. Meanwhile, withdrawal of csDMARDs was associated with higher odds of disease flare and lower proportion of remission than maintenance groups. Collectively, our analysis provides the evidence that maintenance treatment of csDMARDs may be more prudent for AID patients during COVID-19 pandemic.

Abstract:Introduction It is known that many psychopharmacological drugs have anti-inflammatory, as well as antibacterial and antiviral effects. Objectives To investigate the association between the severity and duration criteria of COVID-19 with psychopharmacotherapy in double-diagnosed patients. Methods A total of 169 case histories from a specialized infectious psychiatric department (May 2020 to January 2021) were evaluated. Progression indicators of severe and mild COVID-19, along with the duration of persistent SARS-CoV-2 viral shedding, were assessed in correlation with the administration of antidepressants, antipsychotics, and acid sphingomyelinase inhibitors (FIASMA-active drugs). Results The use of any psychotropic agents was associated with a 0.9% increase in the risk of severe course of COVID-19 for each unit increase in the systemic inflammation index PLR, specifically in patients with intellectual disability (ICD-10 codes F70-79), when compared to patients with schizophrenia (ICD-10 codes F20-29): R2McF=0.138; AIC=181; χ2=25.8; df=9; p=0.002. High PLR values and the use of FIASMA-active drugs were associated with prolonged COVID-19 duration, while antidepressant therapy and elevated C-reactive protein levels were associated with a reduced predicted duration of viral shedding in 13.8% of variance: R2=0.0864; AIC=1299; F=5.2(3), p=0.002. Including the nosology of psychiatric disorders in the regression model increased the proportion of explained variance to 22.8%. Conclusions Thymoanaleptic therapy for individuals with psychiatric disorders may act as a protective factor against COVID-19. There is no evidence suggesting adverse effects of antipsychotics on the severity and duration of COVID-19. Further research is necessary to investigate the effects of FIASMA-active psychopharmacological agents within nosologically homogeneous groups. Disclosure of Interest None Declared

Abstract:OBJECTIVE China issued the national primary care policy of promoting general practitioner (GP) team service in 2011. We conducted this study to assess the impact of the GP team service on quality of primary care as perceived by patients with non-communicable diseases (NCDs). DESIGN Natural experimental study. SETTING This study was conducted in Shanghai, where the policy was effectively implemented, and Kunming, where the policy was not implemented. PARTICIPANTS In both cities, NCD patients were interviewed with primary care assessment tool (PCAT) after their clinical consultations in their community health centers. INTERVENTION The implementation of GP team service policy. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES Multiple linear regressions were employed to compare PCAT scores between the two rounds of the surveys in each city. Difference-in-difference (DID) analysis was used to identify the changes between two cities over time. RESULTS A total of 663 and 587 patients in Shanghai, and 400 and 441 patients in Kunming were surveyed in 2011 and 2013, respectively. The DID analysis showed that the total primary care quality scores improved in Shanghai compared with Kunming between 2011 and 2013 (β = 1.30, 95% CI: 0.74, 1.87). In Shanghai, care quality in 2013 improved significantly for the total score and the six components when compared with those in 2011. No significant changes were observed in Kunming in the same period. CONCLUSION Primary care policies that promote long-term provider-patient relationships, coordinated service with hospitals and capitation payment for the GP team may contribute to the improvement of care quality in Shanghai.

Abstract:Etofenamate is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). Clinical findings caused by etofenamate are uncommon. Allergic contact dermatitis is the most common cutaneous reaction reported. But petechial eruption due to etofenamate had not been reported yet. This report concerns an 11-year old male with petechial eruption after application of topical etofenamate. Physicians need to be aware that patients can develop an asymptomatic purpuric eruption when etofenamate is ordered.

Abstract:Dedicated linear endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS) is an established modality in sampling central pulmonary lesions, mediastinal and hilar lymph nodes to diagnose and stage lung malignancies as well as evaluate a number of inflammatory conditions. In addition, power Doppler modality of EBUS allows for vascular evaluation. We describe a case where EBUS visualized a submucosal lesion within a vascular malformation, which was eventually proven to be a carcinoid tumor. Computed tomographic scan of the chest failed to differentiate the 2 structures and bronchoscopy showed no endobronchial component. This case underscores the added diagnostic capabilities of endobronchial Doppler ultrasonography. We suggest considering EBUS in investigating central opacities associated with vascular features within the lung parenchyma when technically feasible.

Antipsychotic use and 28-day mortality in patients hospitalized with COVID-19: A multicenter observational retrospective study

Abstract:Prior research has yielded conflicting results about the potential influence of antipsychotics in patients with COVID-19. In this multicenter retrospective study, we examined the association of antipsychotic use at admission with 28-day all-cause mortality in a sample of 59,021 adult patients hospitalized with COVID-19 from January 2020 to November 2021. In a 1:1 ratio matched analytic sample (N=1,454) accounting for age, sex, hospital, hospitalization period, the Elixhauser Comorbidity Index, other psychotropic medications, medications prescribed according to compassionate use or as part of a clinical trial, current diagnoses of psychiatric disorders, and clinical and biological markers of COVID-19 severity, antipsychotic use was not associated with 28-day mortality [23.5% (N=727) versus 18.6% (N=727); OR=1.16; 95%CI=0.89-1.51; p=0.280]. This association remained non-significant in exploratory analyses across all classes of antipsychotics and individual molecules, except for typical antipsychotics and loxapine, which were significantly linked to increased 28-day mortality, associations likely due to residual indication bias. Contrariwise, antipsychotics prescribed at daily doses higher than 200 mg of chlorpromazine-equivalents might be associated with reduced 28-day mortality when compared to patients not taking antipsychotics in the matched analytic sample [10.4% (N=154) versus 18.6% (N=727); AOR=0.56; 95%CI=0.31-0.96; p=0.040]. These results suggest that antipsychotic use, when prescribed at usual doses, are not be associated with 28-day mortality in patients hospitalized with COVID-19.
Comparable Psychotropic Prescription Rates After Hospital Discharge Between Patients with COVID-19 and Those With Non-COVID-19-Related Respiratory Infection

Abstract:Introduction Whether psychiatric symptoms after recovery from coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) are specific to this illness remains unclear. Methods In this retrospective study, the Diagnosis Procedure Combination data and outpatient clinic data were used for patients who received inpatient treatment in Saiseikai-affiliated hospitals for COVID-19 or other respiratory tract infections (non-COVID) from 2020 to 2022. The primary outcome was new prescriptions of psychotropic drugs after discharge (i. e., prescriptions of psychotropics to patients who had not received them before or during their hospitalization). Values of interest were compared between groups using the chi-square test or Fisher's exact test. A COX proportional-hazards model was used to examine factors associated with psychotropic prescriptions after discharge in age- and sex-matched COVID-19 and non-COVID patients. Results Of 31,993 chart records, 19,613 were excluded due to a positive history with psychiatric disorders (n=2,445), prescriptions of psychotropics (n=744), and no follow-ups (n=16,424). Thus, 3,648 COVID-19 and 8,732 non-COVID patients were included (mean [range] duration of follow-up, days: 146.9 [1–727] and 239.2 [1–729], respectively). Two hundred and four (5.6%) of the 3,648 patients with COVID-19 received psychotropic prescriptions after discharge. No statistically significant differences were observed in the prescription rates of any psychotropic category between the COVID-19 and non-COVID groups. An increase in severity during hospitalization was significantly associated with more frequent psychotropic prescriptions (hazard ratio 1.83, p<0.001). A multicenter retrospective study of antidepressant use in outpatient clinics in China pre- and post-COVID

Abstract:Background: Analyzing antidepressant prescribing in real-world settings can provide clinicians and health policymakers valuable information. Aim: This epidemiological study examined the status and trends in antidepressant prescribing among the Chinese population from July 1, 2017, to June 30, 2022. Method: A retrospective study was conducted in three hospitals. Data were collected 2.5 years before and 2.5 years after the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. We analyzed the number of patients diagnosed with depression and their corresponding antidepressant prescriptions. Using the chi-square test, stratified analyses were performed to explore the characteristics of these prescriptions in different ages and sexes. Results: The study included 124,355 patients and 400,840 antidepressant prescriptions. We observed fluctuating upward trends in the number of patients and antidepressant prescriptions. Post-COVID-19, the number of patients increased by 37.1% compared to the pre-pandemic period, and the number of antidepressant prescriptions rose by 88.3%. The three most frequently prescribed antidepressants for adolescents were sertraline, citalopram, and escitalopram. Among adults, citalopram, escitalopram, and sertraline were most common, while in older adults, citalopram, escitalopram, and mirtazapine were predominant. Male patients used mirtazapine, venlafaxine, paroxetine, bupropion, fluvoxamine, vortioxetine, and clomipramine more frequently compared to female patients, who were more likely to be prescribed citalopram, flupentixol/melitracen, agomelatine, and fluoxetine. Antidepressant monotherapy represented 76.6% of prescriptions, with the most common combination being antidepressants and anxiolytics. Conclusion: Over the past 5 years, both the number of patients and antidepressant prescriptions have shown upward trends, and the COVID-19 pandemic has impacted prescribing. Understanding the changes in antidepressant prescriptions can identify adherence to national guidelines.

Abstract:Background: The main objective of this research was to analyze whether there were changes in the use of antidepressants, anxiolytics, and hypnotic-sedative drugs, in the context of primary health care, during the COVID-19 pandemic compared to the pre-pandemic period. We further sought to study consumption in vulnerable population groups. Methods: A cross-sectional observational study was performed in a primary health district of Spain. The data were obtained from the Andalusian Public Health System database, for the pre-COVID-19 period, from March 2019 to February 2020, and for the COVID-19 period, from March 2020 to February 2021. Univariant and bivariant analyses were performed. The effect size was measured using the Rosenthal test. Results: While the total number of medical prescriptions decreased by 2.5% in the COVID-19 period, the prescriptions of psychiatric drugs increased by 6.1%. The increase in the dose consumption per 1000 inhabitants (DHD) was highest for anxiolytics (7.2%), followed by hypnotic-sedatives (5.6%) and antidepressants (3.7%). The consumption of antidepressants, anxiolytics, and sedative-hypnotic drugs was higher in women, older people, and rural areas and lower in areas with social transformation needs, with these differences being statistically significant. Conclusions: The consumption of psychiatric drugs has increased over the COVID-19 pandemic, especially in women, older people, and rural areas. Thus, we should reflect on the adequate use of these drugs.

Abstract:It was reported that patients who contracted COVID-19 while taking clozapine exhibited a distinct hematological response. However, the absence of control groups made it difficult to attribute it to clozapine. The changes in absolute neutrophil counts (ANCs) during the 4 weeks after COVID-19 infection were compared between the two groups of patients with severe mental illnesses (SMIs) (49 patients using clozapine and 54 using other antipsychotics) using generalized additive modeling. Although the pattern of a transient drop in ANC followed by gradual recovery could be demonstrated in both groups, it was more pronounced in the clozapine group ( P = 0.00025). Nevertheless, overall ANC remained at a higher level in the clozapine group. The results suggested potential interaction between clozapine and COVID-19 at the level of hematological dynamics. However, it did not necessarily indicate that such interaction is inevitably harmful or dangerous. It was more of a concern that some patients using other antipsychotics exhibited decreased ANC, which did not easily recover. Traditionally, clinicians have been concerned about the worsening of hematological side effects in clozapine patients after COVID-19 infection. However, the obtained result highlighted the necessity of hematological monitoring in patients using any type of antipsychotics for SMIs.

Abstract:Abstract Background and Hypothesis In response to Health Canada’s March 2020 directive, patients on clozapine for over 12 months were allowed to extend hematological testing intervals from 4 to 8 weeks during the COVID-19 pandemic. We hypothesized that this change would not affect the timely detection of hematological abnormalities in patients with severe mental illness. Study Design A chart review was conducted of patients at the Royal Ottawa who were prescribed clozapine from March 2019 to March 2021. We analyzed clinical and hematological data from electronic health records and Clozaril Support and Assistance Network database to compare occurrences of hematological abnormalities [leukopenia (white blood cell count <3.5 × 109/L) and agranulocytosis (absolute neutrophil count <0.5 × 109/L)] from March 17, 2020 to March 16, 2021, between standard and extended monitoring protocols using binomial logistic and zero-inflated negative binomial regressions. Study Results Of 621 patients, 196 were on extended blood monitoring, and 425 followed standard blood monitoring. Clozapine dose did not differ between groups (standard: 370 ± 201 mg; extended: 352 ± 172 mg; P = .14, ds = 0.10). Clozapine treatment duration up to March 2021 was 12.6 ± 8.3 years, with the extended group (10 ± 7.9 years) having a significantly (P < .01, ds = 0.50) shorter duration than the standard (14 ± 8.2 years). Extended monitoring did not significantly impact likelihood of detecting hematological abnormalities (OR = 0.83, 95% CI [0.58,1.41], P = .55) after controlling for age, sex, total bloodwork, and other psychotropics associated with neutrophil counts (ie, valproate, olanzapine). No patient on the extended regimen developed agranulocytosis. Conclusions Reducing blood monitoring frequency in patients on clozapine for more than 12 months did not compromise detection of hematological abnormalities.

Abstract:Background: The 2019 novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is an extremely rapidly spreading respiratory infection caused by SARS-CoV-2. Many schizophrenic patients were infected with COVID-19 in Wuhan City, Hubei Province. This study took hospitalized schizophrenia patients with COVID-19 as the research subjects and observed the changes in psychopathology and stress of patients with COVID-19 and the accompanying social isolation. Methods: To sort and isolate potential COVID-19-infected patients, an isolated ward was set up from January 30, 2020, to March 30, 2020. Schizophrenia patients with COVID-19 were referred to this ward, and long-term hospitalized cases were included in this study. The Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale and Perceived Stress Scale were used to evaluate the severity of mental symptoms and psychological stress in the early stage of the outbreak of COVID-19, after the diagnosis of COVID-19 and after recovery. At the time of diagnosis, we also extracted the patient's routine blood, biochemical and other indicators and asked the patient's perception of COVID-19. Results: 21 hospitalized schizophrenia patients with COVID-19 were recruited in this study. The changes in PANSS scores were not significant ( p = 0.225 baseline vs . diagnosed, p = 0.399 cured vs . diagnosed). The CPSS scores increased significantly after diagnosis and transfer to the isolation ward ( p < 0.001 baseline vs . diagnosed, p < 0.001 cured vs . diagnosed). The course of schizophrenia was a protective factor of stress levels to cases ( t = −3.25, p = 0.006), and patients' perception of COVID-19 was a risk factor ( t = 2.48, p = 0.038). The final multiple linear regression model was statistically significant ( F = 8.16, p < 0.001). Conclusion: Hospitalized schizophrenia patients with COVID-19 had increased stress levels and negative symptoms but alleviated positive symptoms after medical isolated treatment. This reminds us that in the face of major epidemics, we must specifically alleviate the psychological burden at the peak of the epidemic and improve the prognosis of patients after the epidemic.

Abstract:BACKGROUND:The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) epidemic has lasted for nearly 4 months by this study was conducted. We aimed to describe drug utilization, disease progression, and adverse drug events of COVID-19.METHODS:A retrospective, single-center case series study enrolled 165 consecutive hospitalized COVID-19 patients who were followed up until March 25, 2020, from a designated hospital in Wuhan. Patients were grouped by a baseline degree of severity: non-severe and severe. An analytical study of drug utilization, disease progression, and adverse events (AEs) of COVID-19 was conducted.RESULTS:Of the 165 COVID-19 cases, antivirals, antibacterials, glucocorticoids, and traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) were administered to 92.7%, 98.8%, 68.5%, and 55.2% of patients, respectively. The total kinds of drugs administered to the severe subgroup [26, interquartile range (IQR) 18-39] were 11 more than the non-severe subgroup (15, IQR 10-24), regardless of comorbidities. The 2 most common combinations of medications in the 165 cases were 'antiviral therapy + glucocorticoids + TCM' (81, 49.1%) and 'antiviral therapy + glucocorticoids' (23, 13.9%). Compared with non-severe cases, severe cases received more glucocorticoids (88.5% vs. 66.2%, P=0.02), but less TCM (50.0% vs. 63.3%, P=0.20), and suffered a higher percentage of death (34.6% vs. 7.2%, P=0.001). At the end of the follow-up, 130 (78.8%) patients had been discharged, and 24 (14.5%) died. There were 13 patients (7.9%) who had elevated liver enzymes, and 49 patients (29.7%) presented with worsening kidney function during the follow-up.CONCLUSIONS:Of the 165 COVID-19 patients, the fatality rate remained high (14.5%). Drug utilization for COVID-19 was diverse and generally complied with the existing guidelines. Combination regimens containing antiviral drugs might be beneficial to assist COVID-19 recovery. Additionally, liver and kidney AEs should not be ignored.
