Abstract:Background The development of platelet concentrated biomaterials has gained increasing awareness for regenerative medicine. With different protocol, derivatives such as advanced platelet-rich fibrin (A-PRF), injected platelet-rich fibrin, and concentrated growth factor (CGF) have been demonstrated effectively in preclinical and clinical studies. The aim of this study was to compare the level of growth factors releasing from A-PRF and CGF, and their clinical efficacy in the regenerative management of intrabony defects (IBDs). Methods Thirty-two blood samples were collected from eight healthy donors and assessed for platelet-derived growth factor-alpha beta, vascular endothelial growth factor, bone morphogenetic protein-2, and transforming growth factor-beta 1 release at indicated times. In addition, the clinical records of 45 patients (15 per group) who had undergone guided tissue regeneration (GTR) with or without A-PRF/CGF were retrieved. The probing depth (PD) and clinical attachment level (CAL) were recorded preoperatively and 6 months postoperatively. Intrabony component (IC) depth, radiographic bone level (RBL), and bone defect filling were assessed radiographically. Results A-PRF had a looser fibrin network than the CGF but presented larger amounts of growth factors with a more sustained release period. Although there was no difference in PD reduction, CAL gain, RBL height change and defect filling (%) between A-PRF and CGF group, both achieved a more favorable clinical result in IC height reduction and defect filling (%) than the control. Conclusions A-PRF and CGF have the ability to stimulate a continual and steady release of total growth factors over a 14-day period. A-PRF and CGF show a similar effectiveness in periodontal bone regeneration with a potential benefit of improving GTR outcomes in IBD treatment.
Comparative evaluation of demineralized freeze-dried bone allograft with and without concentrated growth factor membrane in the treatment of periodontal intrabony defects: a randomized controlled clinical trial

Abstract:Background: The current study's aim was to evaluate and compare demineralized freeze-dried bone allograft (DFDBA) with and without concentrated growth factor (CGF) membrane in the treatment of periodontal intrabony defects on both a clinical and radiographic level. Methods: 30 stage III grade B periodontitis patients with bilateral intrabony defects were involved in the split mouth randomized controlled trial, and they received either DFDBA alone (control group) or DFDBA plus CGF membrane treatment (test group). At baseline and 6 and 12 months, the gingival index (GI), plaque index (PI), probing pocket depth (PPD), clinical attachment level (CAL), and gingival recession (GR) were assessed, whereas cone beam computed tomography was used to assess the bone defect height (BDH), vertical bone loss (VBL), bone defect depth (BDD), mesio-distal bone defect width (MDBDW), bucco-lingual bone defect width (BLBDW), and bone defect volume (CBCT) at baseline and 12 months. Results: The radiographic measures BDH, BDD, MDBDW, BLBDW, and BDV in the test group likewise showed a higher reduction in PPD and gain in CAL than the control group. The results of the intergroup comparison showed that the test group had statistically significant differences in BDH, BDD, and MDBDW. Conclusion: The data show that the test group achieved better results, with greater reductions in PPD, gains in CAL, and decreases in BDH, BDD, MDBDW, BLBDW, and BDV. Clinical relevance: The use of concentrated growth factor in conjunction with demineralized freeze-dried bone allograft may be suggested for the treatment of periodontal intrabony defects.

Abstract:Introduction: Chronic periodontitis is caused by a persistent and expanding interaction between a subgingival pathogenic microbial biofilm and the host immune system. The host's reaction to local factors directly influences the inflammation and bone loss that result from these interactions. Depending on variables like the severity of soft tissue damage and bone loss, treatment options can range from nonsurgical to surgical. Nonsurgical treatments are frequently used as the first-line therapy for inflammatory periodontal disease. In fact, careful scaling and root planing (SRP), a nonsurgical treatment, has been extensively studied and shown to be a highly predictable and effective therapy. According to recent research, using a diode laser (DL) in addition to standard SRP may reduce bacterial count and reinfection significantly. Laser therapy could be helpful in treating periodontal disease because of its antibacterial and detoxifying effects. The goal of this study is to investigate whether using a DL in addition to conventional flap surgery enhances patient outcomes for those with chronic generalized periodontitis. Materials and methods: The 12 participants in this split-mouth trial with chronic generalized periodontitis were the main subject of the study. All of them had probing pocket depths (PPDs) of at least 5 mm after the initial phase of treatment. Each patient in the control group (Group A) and test group (Group B) received a conventional flap after being randomly assigned to one of the groups. Group B underwent a conventional flap with a 980 nm DL, whereas those in Group A did not receive any DL therapy. Periodontal pockets in both groups were evaluated at baseline, 45 days, and 90 days after a sub-gingival plaque test. Quantitative real-time polymerase chain reactions were used to examine the presence of red complex organisms in the plaque sample. Results: From baseline to 45 days and then to 90 days, clinical attachment loss (CAL), plaque index (PI), and gingival index (GI) all significantly decreased. However, results from 45 days to 90 days were statistically non-significant, with the exception of the GI, where Group B results were significantly different from Group A results from 45 days to 90 days. On the other hand, when a DL was combined with conventional flap surgery in the test group, the quantity of red complex bacteria was significantly decreased. Conclusion: When DL was used in conjunction with conventional flap surgery, the results showed that CAL, PI, and GI were all significantly reduced while the quantity of red complex bacteria was also significantly decreased.

Abstract:Background: The present, randomized, controlled clinical and radiographic study was undertaken to compare the effectiveness of guided tissue regeneration (GTR) by using a collagen membrane barrier with or without decalcified freeze-dried bone allograft (DFDBA) in the treatment of periodontal infrabony defects characterized by unfavorable architecture. Materials and methods: Sixteen systemically healthy patients with 20 periodontal infrabony defects were selected for the study. Each patient had at least ≥ 5 mm clinical probing pocket depth (PPD) at the selected site and depth of intrabony component ≥ 3 mm as assessed by clinical and radiographic measurements. Baseline measurements included plaque index, papillary bleeding index, PPD, gingival recession, clinical attachment level and radiographic defect depth (DD). At the time of surgery, the defects were randomly assigned to either the test group (collagen membrane plus DFDBA) or the control group (collagen membrane only). Results: At the 6-month examination, PPPD reduction was significantly greater in the GTR + DFDBA group (4.06 ± 0.38 mm) compared with the GTR group (3.2 ± 0.74 mm). The mean gains of clinical attachment were 3.54 ± 0.36 mm in the test group and 2.50 ± 0.74 mm in the control group. Radiographic DD reduction was similarly greater in the GTR + DFDBA group (2.40 ± 0.51 mm) compared with the GTR group (1.60 ± 0.51 mm). Conclusions: The results of the present study indicate that the use of a GTR membrane with bone graft has significantly improved all clinical parameters tested as compared with the use of bioresorbable membrane alone in the treatment of infrabony defects characterized by unfavorable architecture.

Abstract:A BSTRACT Objectives: The current research was conducted to evaluate the use of a diode laser and a bone graft (hydroxyapatite [HA] + β-tricalcium phosphate [β-TCP]) in healing of intrabony defects Materials and Methods: In this split-mouth evaluation, 40 patients with bilateral intrabony defects were treated with, Group I (control) - bone graft alone (HA + β-TCP) and Group II, (test) - bone graft with a diode laser. The clinical and radiologic parameters of all patients, such as plaque index (PI), probing depth (PD), gingival index (GI), gingival recession (GR), and relative clinical attachment level (RCAL) were recorded at baseline, after 3 months and after 6 months. Results: Reductions in PI, PD, GI, GR, and RCAL were found after 6 months. Furthermore, significant differences were displayed in the intra-group comparison while those of the inter-group evaluation ( P > 0.05) were insignificant. Conclusion: In both groups, considerable decrease in intrabony pockets was discovered; however, the inter-group comparison was insignificant in relation to GR and RCAL.

Abstract:Introduction: The goals of periodontal therapy include preventing illness, slowing or stopping disease development, replacing lost periodontal tissues, and preserving the therapeutic outcomes. The apical repositioning of the gingival edge during traditional periodontal surgery exposes the root surface to the oral cavity and reduces pocket depth. It may lead to attachment loss, Gingival Recession (GR). It is also commonly recognised that periodontal surgery causes pain and suffering. Laser assisted periodontal therapy has been the subject of study in an effort to address these drawbacks. Aim: To compare the efficacy of diode laser as an adjunct to Open Flap Debridement (OFD) with that of OFD alone in the management of chronic periodontitis patients. Materials and Methods: This randomised clinical trial with split mouth study design will be conducted in Periodontics Department at Sharad Pawar Dental College, Wardha, Maharashtra, India, for a duration of six months. Thirteen patients (26 quadrants) with generalised chronic periodontitis patients will be selected. The Probing Pocket Depth (PPD) ≥5 mm after phase I therapy will be included in this split mouth study. Diode laser (920 nm) will be used as an adjunct to OFD (test) as compared with conventional flap surgery (control). Clinical parameters like Plaque Index (PI), Papillary Bleeding Index (PBI), PPD, Relative Attachment Level (RAL) and Relative Gingival Marginal Level (RGML) and GR will be recorded at baseline and six months post-therapy. Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) will be used to determine patient discomfort intraoperatively and after one week. A questionnaire for patient-based outcomes will be administered after period of six months postsurgery and response will be recorded. Student’s paired t-test will be used for comparing the treatment groups at baseline and six months.
Efficacy of concentrated growth factor combined with grafting materials vs. grafting materials alone for the treatment of periodontal intrabony defects: a systematic review and meta-analysis

Abstract:Background: Concentrated growth factor (CGF) is a novel biomaterial that can effectively promote tissue growth, but it is uncertain whether adding CGF can product additional effects in the periodontal tissue growth. The purpose of this meta-analysis was to assess the efficacy of CGF combined with grafting materials versus grafting materials alone for the treatment of periodontal intrabony defects. Methods: The PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, Web of Science, China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), China Biology Medicine Disc (CBM), Wanfang, and VIP databases were searched from inception date to June 2022. The inclusion criteria were: (I) randomized controlled trials (RCTs) comparing CGF combined with grafting materials with the single use of grafting materials for the treatment of periodontal intrabony defects, (II) studies providing outcomes of probing depth (PD) and clinical attachment loss (CAL). The literature searches and screening, data extraction, and quality assessment were performed by two reviewers, respectively. The Cochrane bias risk assessment tool was used to assess the quality of the literature. Meta-analysis was performed using Stata 15.0. Results: A total of 8 randomized controlled trials (RCTs) were obtained, including 150 intrabony defect sites in the combination groups and 153 sites in the control groups. Meta-analysis showed that the combination groups was more effective than the control groups in PD [weighted mean difference (WMD) =-0.73, 95% confidence interval (CI): -0.94, -0.51, P=0.005], CAL (WMD =-0.56, 95% CI: -0.94, -0.19, P=0.003), and bone filling (BF) (WMD =-0.43, 95% CI: -0.65, -0.21, P=0.001), but the difference was not statistically significant between two groups in the change of gingival recession (REC) (WMD =-0.15, 95% CI: -0.44, 0.14, P=0.312). One study presented a high risk of bias due to lost follow-up, and the rest were unclear risk of bias. Conclusions: For the treatment of periodontal intrabony defects, our meta-analysis showed that CGF combined with grafting materials was more effective than the use of grafting materials alone. However, the findings should be interpreted with caution due to the average quality of RCTs.

Abstract:In addition to a variety of other techniques used in T-cell epitope identification, mass spectrometery coupled to liquid chromatography have now become an important and sensitive tool in separation, detection, and sequence analysis of highly complex natural major histocompatibility complex (MHC) ligand mixtures. In this article, we present current strategies for the identification of MHC eluted peptides using high-performance liquid chromatography coupled to tandem mass spectrometry (HPLC-MS/MS) with a particular recall to those presented in the context of the non classical human leukocytes antigen (HLA) class I molecule HLA-E. In addition we also discuss the advantages and disadvantages of the methods available in the literature to concentrate and fractionate the peptides prior to analysis by mass spectrometry. An application of our method for isolation and characterization of peptides presented in the context of HLA-E is finally reported.

Abstract:BACKGROUND: Subgingival plaque is the initiating factor for Chronic Periodontitis (CP). Therefore initial measures consist of Non-Surgical Periodontal Therapy (NSPT). The use of lasers as adjuvants to NSPT has gained preference for many years now. However it has not been completely validated. So, we studied the efcacy of diode laser (DL), as adjunct to NSPT. MATERIALS AND METHODS: In 50 subjects, aged 35-65 years with moderate CP (5-8 mm pocket depth), based on inclusion and exclusion criteria, 25 patients were selected and randomly allocated to two groups; the rst group, control group (CG), treated by NSPT; and 25 in the second test group, (TG), received NSPT followed by DL irradiation. Assessment was conducted for gingival index (GI), bleeding on probing (BOP), clinical attachment level (CAL), and probing pocket depth (PPD) at baseline (B/L), 1, 3, 6, and 9 months. RESULTS: There was improvement of all clinical parameters in both the groups, but was more statistically signicant in the TG. CONCLUSIONS: The application of adjunctive 980nm DL improves clinical parameters including GI, CAL, PPD and most markedly, BOP.

Abstract:Introduction: The primary goal of periodontal therapy is to arrest the inﬂammatory disease process which is done by non-surgical and surgical therapies in order to reduce the microorganisms. The outcome of periodontal therapy may not reveal the desired results owing to inaccessible areas for instrumentation, pathogenicity, resistance of the microorganisms, or even due to compromised host response to the treatment. Thus, adjunctive laser therapy has been proposed as a novel treatment modality in the treatment of periodontal disease. Aim: The aim of this study was to clinically evaluate the effect of a 980 nm diode laser (DEN10B; Wuhan Gigaa Optronics Technology Co., Ltd., Wuhan, China) therapy as an adjunct to scaling and root planing in patients with chronic periodontitis and type II diabetes. Methods: Twenty patients were divided into two groups in a split-mouth study design. Group I (Control) comprised mechanical debridement alone and Group II (test) comprised mechanical debridement followed by adjunctive laser therapy. The clinical parameters were recorded at baseline, six weeks, and three months, and the results were analyzed. Results: There was a significant improvement in gingival and plaque index in the test group. Though there was no significant improvement in probing pocket depth and clinical attachment, the results in the test group were superior relative to the control group. Conclusion: Non-surgical periodontal therapy with adjunctive use of diode laser is effective in the management of generalized chronic periodontitis in patients with type II diabetes which led to a significant reduction in plaque score, gingival index score, probing pocket depth, and gain in clinical attachment level.
Combined photoablative and photodynamic diode laser therapy as an adjunct to non-surgical periodontal treatment: a randomized split-mouth clinical trial

Abstract:Aim: Comparing the efficacy of photoablative and photodynamic diode laser in adjunct to scaling -root planing (SRP) and SRP alone for the treatment of chronic periodontitis. Materials and methods: Twenty-six patients were studied. Maxillary left or right quadrants were randomly assigned to sham-laser treatment + SRP or laser + SRP. This consisted of photoablative intra/extra-pocket de-epithelization with diode laser (λ = 810 nm), followed by single SRP and multiple photodynamic treatments (once weekly, 4-10 applications, mean ± SD: 3.7 ± 2.4) using diode laser (λ = 635 nm) and 0.3% methylene blue as photosensitizer. The patients were monitored at days 0 and 365 by clinical assessment (probing depth, PD; clinical attachment level, CAL; bleeding on probing, BOP) and at days 0, 15, 30, 45, 60, 75, 90, 365 by cytofluorescence analysis of gingival exfoliative samples taken in proximity of the teeth to be treated (polymorphonuclear leukocytes, PMN; red blood cells, RBC; damaged epithelial cells, DEC; bacteria). Results: At day 365, compared with the control quadrants, the laser + SRP therapy yielded a significant (p < 0.001) reduction in PD (-1.9 mm), CAL (-1.7 mm) and BOP (-33.2% bleeding sites), as well as in bacterial contamination - especially spirochetes - and PMN and RBC shedding in the gingival samples (p < 0.001). Conclusions: Diode laser treatment (photoablation followed by multiple photodynamic cycles) adjunctive to conventional SRP improves healing in chronic periodontitis patients.

Abstract:BACKGROUND: Chronic Periodontitis (CP) is a major cause of tooth loss. Management usually consists of Non-Surgical Periodontal Therapy (NSPT) and surgical treatment. Lately advances in periodontics include the use of lasers, known for their benecial effects, as efcient adjuvants to NSPT. This study evaluated and compared clinically, the efcacy of 980 nm Diode Laser (DL) used as adjunct to conventional NSPT for treating CP. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The study included 50 subjects, aged 35-65 years with moderate CP (5-8mm pocket depth). According to inclusion and exclusion criteria, 25 patients were selected and randomly allocated to two groups; the rst group, the control group (CG), treated by NSPT; and 25 in the second test group, (TG), received NSPT followed by DL irradiation. Assessment was conducted for gingival index (GI), bleeding on probing (BOP), clinical attachment level (CAL), and probing pocket depth (PPD) at baseline (B/L), 4th and 12th weeks. RESULTS: There was statistically signicant improvement in all clinical parameters. GI reduced from 2.35 at B/L to 1.07 and 0.93 in CG; and from 2.39 to 0.96 and 0.85 in TG at 4 and 12 weeks (P < 0.00001). At B/L all 50 patients had BOP, which decreased to 7 in the CG and to 0 in the TG at both 4 and 12 weeks, (P < 0.003). PPD at B/L was 7.8mm for CG; 7.92 mm for TG and reduced to 4.8mm and 5.1mm in CG; 3.64 mm and 3.36mm in TG at 4 and 12 weeks (P < 0.00001). CAL at B/L was 7.24 mm for CG and 7.28mm for TG, and improved to 4.6mm and 4.72mm and in TG to 3.28mm at 4 and 12 weeks (P < 0.00001). CONCLUSIONS: The application of adjunctive980 nm DL improves clinical parameters including GI, CAL, PPD and most markedly, BOP

Abstract:The transition to the integral-quantum-Hall-effect regime through the suppression of backscattering is studied theoretically on a model system by calculating the two-terminal conductance of a quasi-one-dimensional quantum wire as a magnetic field is applied in the presence of disorder. The quantum Hall regime is entered when there is negligible overlap between electron edge states localized at opposite sides of the wire. Levitation of the quantized plateaus with increasing disorder is observed. The conductance is calculated from a multichannel Landauer-B\"uttiker formula with transmission matrices determined by a recursive Green's-function technique on a tight-binding lattice.

Abstract:Background: Absorbable synthetic biopolymers have been used as bone filler in Periodontology, proving effective stimulants to bone regeneration. Aim: Copolymerized polylactic and polyglycolic acid is used as a bone filler and polyglactin 910 as a guided tissue regeneration (GTR) membrane to achieve regeneration in periodontal infrabony defects. Materials and methods: Forty patients with two- or three-walled infrabony defects were selected and randomly divided into two groups. Group A included patients treated with polylactic-polyglycolic acids 50:50 (Fisiograft ,Ghimsa SPA,Via Fucini, Italy) alone and Group B included patients treated with polylactic-polyglycolic acids (PLA-PGA)50:50 in conjunction with polyglactin acid 910 (Vicryl Mesh Johnson&Johnson , U.S.A ). Evaluation of clinical parameters probing depth and attachment level and radiographs was done preoperatively and 12 and 24 weeks postoperatively. Results: Both the groups showed statistically significant mean reduction in probing depth and gain in clinical attachment level and linear bone fill. Conclusions: Within the limit of this study, both the treatment modalities are beneficial for the treatment of infrabony defects.
Diode laser for harvesting de-epithelialized palatal graft in the treatment of gingival recession defects: a randomized clinical trial

Abstract:Aims: The aim of present randomized controlled clinical study was to evaluate the effects of the use of diode laser for graft harvesting and palatal wound irradiation on post-operative morbidity and root coverage outcomes after a coronally advanced flap (CAF) with de-epithelialized gingival grafts (DGG). Methods: Fifty-two patients with isolated recessions were treated. The CTG resulted from the de-epithelialization of a free gingival graft (FGG) with blade (control group:DGG-B) or diode laser (DL) (test group:DGG-L). The DL was used to de-epithelialize the outer part of the FGG and photo-biostimulate the palatal wound area. Post-operative morbidity was evaluated by using Oral Health-related Quality of Life (OHQoL) and Visual Analogue Scale-discomfort (VAS). Root coverage outcomes were also evaluated 6 months after operation. Results: Statistically significant differences were found for OHQoL (p = 0.0001) and VAS (p = 0.0001) at the 7th day post-operatively favouring test sites. Root coverage results did not show a statistically significant difference. Conclusions: While both techniques were effective with regard to root coverage at 6 months, the DGG-L technique decreased post-operative morbidity associated with palatal donor-site surgery.
Electrical, optical and photoresponse characteristics of P3HT:PCBM bulk heterojunction device

Abstract:Conjugated polymers and their derivatives are of great importance for their applications in electronic and optoelectronic devices. Here, Bulk Heterojunction (BHJ) photovoltaic device having the structure ITO/PEDOT:PSS/P3HT:PCBM/graphene/Al has been fabricated and examined under both dark and illumination conditions. Absorption study confirms the formation of P3HT:PCBM BHJ. Raman spectra show the similar modes for P3HT:PCBM BHJ as pristine P3HT. I-V behavior of the device is found to be very similar to the Schottky behavior under both dark and illumination conditions. Higher change in reverse current as compare to forward current under illumination condition suggests the device exhibit photovoltaic behavior. Double logarithmic J-V characteristics curve shows an overall power law trend, resulting in Ohmic conduction at lower voltage and trap charge limited conduction (TCLC) with the increase in the voltage.

Abstract:To evaluate the adjunctive effect of diode laser irradiation for the treatment of periodontal-endodontic combined lesions.30 cases with periodontal-endodontic combined lesions were selected. All cases were randomly divided into experimental group and control group (n=15). In the control group, patients were treated with root canal therapy and conservative periodontal treatment (scaling and root planning), and patients in the experimental group were treated with root canal therapy and conservative periodontal treatment followed by diode laser irradiation. Clinical measurements including pocket probing depth (PPD), clinical attachment level (CAL), modified bleeding index (mBI), periapical index (PAI) were taken before treatment (baseline). Three and six months after the treatment, the adjunctive effects of diode laser in the treatment of periodontal-endodontic combined lesions were evaluated.Three months after the treatment, the average PPD, CAL and mBI levels were reduced significantly in both groups. But the average PPD reduction in the experimental group was significantly greater (P<0.05) than in control group. However the average CAL and mBI reduction were not significantly different between two groups. Six months after the treatment, the average PPD, CAL and mBI levels were further reduced in the experiment group, but not in the control group. The average PAI levels were reduced significantly in both groups, but the PAI reduction was not significantly different between two groups.The use of diode laser as an adjunct procedure in the treatment of periodontal-endodontic combined lesions can aid in achieving success.
Recombinant Human Derived Growth and Differentiating Factors in treatment of periodontal intrabony defects: Systematic review and network meta‐analysis

Abstract:BackgroundThe introduction of recombinant human growth and differentiation factors (rhGFs) for intrabony defects regeneration has represented a considerable breakthrough in recent years. However, they have been used in different concentrations, doses and combined with various scaffolds, and there is no evidence on the most effective formulation for periodontal regeneration is. Therefore, we aimed to evaluate and rank the various formulations of such bioactive agents through network meta-analysis of clinical studies. MethodsThe protocol registration was done on PROSPERO with registration ID CRD42020213753. To report NMA, we followed PRISMA guidelines and searched PUBMED, Embase, Web of Science and Cochrane Central electronic databases. Studies were screened based on specific inclusion criteria. Primary outcomes extracted from included studies were the most common indexes for periodontal regeneration (PPD, CAL, %bone filling). The NMA analysis included network plots, contribution plots, inconsistency plots (if eligible to form the loop), predictive interval plots, SUCRA rankings and multidimensional scale ranking plots. SUCRA would demonstrate the rankings of multiple competing bioactive agents based on their best performance. ResultsTwelve clinical studies for qualitative and quantitative analysis were considered. Network meta-analysis found that rhFGF+hydroxyapatite was ranked highest in PPD and CAL outcome. rhPDGF-BB+β-tricalcium phosphate was ranked highest in the percentage of bone filling. In addition, all bioactive agents performed better than control groups without rhGFs. ConclusionDespite clear benefits deriving from rhGFs for periodontal regeneration, the present results should interpret with caution due to several confounding factors affecting the outcome. Nevertheless, further well designed randomized clinical trials will allow establishing guidelines for an appropriate indication of the use of rhGFs.This article is protected by copyright. Abstract:Numerically significant clinical experience relative to the surgical treatment of arterial occlusive disease of the gastrointestinal tract has not been published. Attempted revascularization of the celiac and mesenteric arteries has been documented only by isolated case reports, and in these most of the operative procedures were performed under emergency situations for acute mesenteric thrombosis. 6,11-15 Even rough appraisal as to incidence of celiac and superior mesenteric arterial occlusive disease is difficult because until recently 2 essential factors for this have been lacking—namely, general awareness of the problem and application of techniques for confirming the diagnosis.
