Abstract:Heavy pnictogen chalcohalides are often referred to as lead-free, perovskite-inspired materials. Despite theoretical predictions, incontrovertible experimental demonstrations of heavy pnictogen chalcohalides adopting a perovskite structure are lacking. Here we report our attempts to prepare CsBiSCl2 adopting a perovskite structure as colloidal nanocrystals. Synthesis of nanoscale materials can indeed rely on fast, non-equilibrium reactions and on large, eventually thermodynamically favorable surface energies, leading to the possibility of stabilizing kinetically-trapped or metastable phases. However, we obtained no CsBiSCl2, but a mixture of nanocrystals of secondary phases, namely Cs3BiCl6 submicrometric polyhedra, Bi2S3 nanoscopic rods, and Cs3Bi2Cl9 nanoscopic dots, whose low polydispersity enabled an effective separation via size/shape selective precipitation. This work confirms that heavy pnictogen chalcohalides are hardly prone to adopt a perovskite structure. Nevertheless, chemistry at the nanoscale offers multiple possibilities to overcoming phase segregation and pursuing the synthesis of prospective mixed anion compounds.

Abstract:Lead-free bismuth-based halide perovskites and their analogues have attracted research interest for their high stability and optoelectronic properties. However, the morphology-controlled synthesis of bismuth-based perovskite nanocrystals has been rarely demonstrated. Herein, we report the colloidal synthesis of zero-dimensional (0D) Cs 3 BiCl 6 nanosheets (NSs), Cs 3 Bi 2 Cl 9 NSs/nanoplates (NPs) and Cs 4 MnBi 2 Cl 12 NPs through a hot-injection method. We demonstrate that the Cs 3 BiCl 6 NSs, as an initial product of Cs 3 Bi 2 Cl 9 and Cs 4 MnBi 2 Cl 12 NPs, can transform into Cs 3 Bi 2 Cl 9 NSs or Cs 4 MnBi 2 Cl 12 NPs via Cl-induced metal ion insertion reactions under the templating effect of Cs 3 BiCl 6 . This growth mechanism is also applicable for the synthesis of Cs 4 CdBi 2 Cl 12 nanoplates. Furthermore, the alloying of Cd 2+ into Cs 4 MnBi 2 Cl 12 lattice could weaken the strong coupling effect between Mn and Mn, which leads to a prolonged photoluminescence lifetime and an enhanced photoluminescence quantum yield (PLQY). As a proof of concept, the alloyed Cs 4 Mn x Cd 1− x Bi 2 Cl 12 NPs are used as a scintillator, which show a lowest detection limit of 134.5 nGy/s. The X-ray imaging results display a high spatial resolution of over 20 line pairs per millimeter (lp/mm). These results provide new insights in the synthesis of anisotropic bismuth-based perovskite nanocrystals and their applications in radiation detection.

Abstract:We report the synthesis of nanocrystal heterostructures composed of CsPbCl(3) and PbS domains sharing an epitaxial interface. We were able to promote the growth of a PbS domain (in competition with the more commonly observed Pb(4)S(3)Cl(2) one) on top of the CsPbCl(3) domain by employing Mn^(2+) ions, the latter most likely acting as scavengers of Cl^(-) ions. Abstract:A complete series of bromide‐based and iodide‐based 2D chiral double perovskites has been structurally characterized and their chiroptical properties investigated to reveal the effect of both polymorphism and nature of the halide anions in the circular dichroism of the thin films. In the quest for lead‐free chiral metal‐halide materials, 2D double perovskites appear as very promising candidates especially for spintronic applications. However, compared to highly crystalline Pb2+ compounds, the more challenging synthetic procedure for compounds based on Ag+ and Bi3+/Sb3+ so far limited the number of these chiral materials to very few reported examples, as highlighted by the absence of crystal structure based on the extensively used (S/R)‐1‐phenylethylammonium (S/R‐MBA) cations in chiral metal halides. This study presents the successful preparation and characterization of a complete series of 2D bromide‐based and iodide‐based double perovskites based on the cations (S/R)‐1‐(4‐bromophenyl)ethylammonium (S/R‐4BrMBA), which allows to describe their structures, thin film processing, and resulting chiroptical properties. The strong modulation of the structure and circular dichroism (CD) properties at the nanoscale is unprecedented, since the thin films of (S/R‐4BrMBA)4AgBiBr8 strongly evolve from a single‐phase compound with small intrinsic CDiso to a polymorphic material showing a strong increase in the CD signal due to macroscopic effects.

Abstract:Metal-halide perovskites have rapidly emerged as one of the most promising materials of the 21st century, with many exciting properties and great potential for a broad range of applications, from photovoltaics to optoelectronics and photocatalysis. The ease with which metal-halide perovskites can be synthesized in the form of brightly luminescent colloidal nanocrystals, as well as their tunable and intriguing optical and electronic properties, has attracted researchers from different disciplines of science and technology. Promoting optoelectronic properties of Cs2AgBiBr6 nanocrystals by formation of heterostructures with BiOCl nanosheets

Abstract:Lead halide perovskite nanocrystals and their heterostructures have achieved substantial advances in optoelectronics; however, their inherent material instability and lead toxicity have driven research on alternative material systems. Herein, solution-processable heterostructures composed of lead-free double perovskite Cs2AgBiBr6 nanocrystals and BiOCl nanosheets were prepared through a colloidal synthesis method. Defect states were present in BiOCl and benefited carrier generation, recombination and transport in Cs2AgBiBr6. As a result, the light emission of the Cs2AgBiBr6 nanocrystals was greatly enhanced at low temperatures, and the photodetector based on the Cs2AgBiBr6/BiOCl heterostructure exhibited a much improved on-off ratio compared to the device based on Cs2AgBiBr6 alone. Our work highlights the complex nature and impact of two-dimensional heterostructure assembly on the optoelectronic properties of lead-free double perovskites and demonstrates their great potential toward environmentally friendly optoelectronic devices.

Abstract:The dimensionality of semiconductors has a crucial role in determining their properties. Recently, metal halide perovskites have been demonstrated with many exciting applications, attracting wide attention to further their development for advanced optoelectronics, such as photovoltaics, photodetectors, light-emitting diodes, and lasers. At length scales down to nanoscale regimes, surface features as well as quantum confinement effects become dominant in regulating the material properties of perovskite materials. In past years, our group focus on the synthesis and characterization of metal halide perovskites with different configurations, ranging from bulk films, microplates, nanosheets, to nanowires. The corresponding physical properties and device applications were also systematically studied based on their widely tunable dimensionality, morphologies, and compositions. Specifically, for perovskite bulk films, surface defects and bulk structural order significantly affect their device performance. Through optimizing processing techniques, self-assembled quasi-2D perovskite films with graded phase distribution were successfully prepared. Gradient type-II band alignments along the out-of-plane direction of perovskites with spontaneous separation of photo-generated electrons and holes are obtained, which is later employed to construct self-powered vertical-structure photodetectors for the first time. Without any driving voltage, the device exhibited impressive performance with the responsivity up to 444 mA/W and ultrashort response time down to 52 μs. In addition, to assess the intrinsic material properties of crystalline perovskites, freestanding MAPbI 3 nanosheets and lead-free Cs 3 Sb 2 I 9 microplates were fabricated by two-step chemical vapor deposition method, in which excellent optoelectronic performance (e.g., responsively of MAPbI 3 nanosheet is measured to be 40 A/W) together with ultra-fast response speed (down to 58 μs) and superior thermal stability were obtained. For nanostructured perovskites, understanding the dimensional features and their impact on the materials and devices is becoming increasingly important. Lately, we reported the direct vapor-liquid-solid growth of single-crystalline all-inorganic lead halide perovskite (i.e., CsPbX 3 ; X = Cl, Br, or I) NWs. These NWs exhibited high-performance photodetection with the responsivity exceeding 4489 A/W and detectivity over 7.9 × 10 12 Jones toward the visible light regime. Field-effect transistors based on individual CsPbX 3 NWs were also fabricated to show the impressive carrier mobility of 3.05 cm 2 /Vs, being higher than other all-inorganic perovskite devices. Besides, the realization of high-mobility CsPbBr 3 NW devices is reported via a simple surface charge transfer doping strategy. After MoO 3 decoration and device fabrication, the hole mobility of CsPbBr 3 /MoO 3 core-shell NW device is significantly enhanced to 23.3 cm 2 /Vs. All these results provide important guidelines for the further improvement of these perovskite nanostructures for practical utilization.
A Reliable, Colloidal Syntheses Method of the Chalcogenide Perovskite, BaZrS3, and Related ABS3 Nanomaterials (A = Sr, Ba; B = Ti, Zr, Hf): Towards Thin-Film Device Applications

Abstract:Recently, chalcogenide perovskites, of the form ABX3, where typically A = alkaline earth metals Ca, Sr, or Ba; B = group IV transition metals Zr or Hf; and X = chalcogens S or Se, have become of interest for their potential optoelectronic properties. In this work, we build upon recent studies and show a general synthesis protocol, involving the use of carbon disulfide insertion chemistry, to generate highly reactive precursors that can be used towards the colloidal synthesis of numerous ABS3 nanomaterials, including BaTiS3, BaZrS3, BaHfS3, α-SrZrS3 and α-SrHfS3. We overcome the shortcomings in the current literature where BaZrS3 nanoparticles are synthesized in separate phases via colloidal methods and lack a reproducible protocol for orthorhombic perovskite nanoparticles. We present a high-temperature, hot-injection method that reliably controls the formation of the colloidal BaZrS3 nanoparticles with the Pnma orthorhombic distorted perovskite structure. We show that the alternate phase, most notably denoted by its extra peaks in the pXRD pattern, is distinct from the distorted perovskite phase as it has a different bandgap value obtained via UV-vis measurements. We also show that the reaction byproducts, resulting from the use of oleylamine and CS2, have their own photoluminescence (PL) and their residual presence on the surface of the nanoparticles complicates the interpretation of PL from the nanoparticles. The utility of these nanomaterials is also assessed via the measurement of their absorption properties and in the form of highly stable colloidal inks for the fabrication of homogeneous, crack-free thin films of BaZrS3 nanoparticles.

Abstract:In recent years, a growing interest in the development of new energy harvesting technologies based on earth-abundant, environmentally-friendly semiconductors, has led to the re-discovery of hitherto overlooked materials. Among them, Ag-based chalcohalides stand out for their abundancy and low-toxicity, as well as the crystal structure analogous to perovskite, albeit with cations in place of anions and vice-versa (i.e. anti-perovskite). Until now, inorganic anti-perovskites have generally been studied as solid-state electrolytes. Indeed, Ag 3 SI was identified in the 1960s as a superionic conductor. On the other hand, theorical calculations have demonstrated bandgaps in the visible range, suggesting that they could be suitable for PV applications. However, there is little published information on their potential as energy harvesting materials and so far, thin films have been prepared by solid-state reactions or physical vapor deposition techniques at high temperature and/or vacuum conditions, which limits their commercial viability owing to costly, non-scalable processes. In this work, we present a new procedure to synthesize Ag-based chalcohalides by a low-temperature solution-based methodology, using an amine-thiol reactive solvent system to dissolve Ag 2 S and AgX (X = Br, I) precursors, followed by spin coating deposition to obtain polycrystalline films. Through this process, it has been possible to synthesize Ag 3 S(I x Br 1-x ) (x=0-1) films for the first time, which have been characterized, demonstrating the formation of the anti-perovskite phase and a linear correlation between structural parameters and composition. Optical characterization shows bandgap ranging from 0.9 eV (Ag 3 SI) to 1.0 eV (Ag 3 SBr), with a bowing effect for the intermediate solid solutions. First solar cells prototypes demonstrate photo-response and promising electrical characteristics.

Lead-Free Semiconductors: Phase-Evolution and Superior Stability of Multinary Tin Chalcohalides

Abstract:Tin-based semiconductors are highly desirable materials for energy applications due to their low toxicity and bio-compatibility relative to analogous lead-based semiconductors. In particular, tin-based chalcohalides possess optoelectronic properties that are ideal for photovoltaic and photocatalytic applications. In addition, they are believed to benefit from increased stability compared to halide perovskites. However, to fully realize their potential, it is first necessary to better understand and predict the synthesis and phase evolution of these complex materials. Here, we describe a versatile solution-phase method for the preparation of the multinary tin chalcohalide semiconductors Sn2SbS2I3, Sn2BiS2I3, Sn2BiSI5, and Sn2SI2. We demonstrate how certain thiocyanate precursors are selective toward the synthesis of chalcohalides, thus preventing the formation of binary and other lower order impurities rather than the preferred multinary compositions. Critically, we utilize 119Sn ssNMR spectroscopy to further assess the phase purity of these materials. Further, we validate that the tin chalcohalides exhibit excellent water stability under ambient conditions, as well as remarkable resistance to heat over time compared to halide perovskites. Together, this work enables the isolation of lead-free, stable, direct band gap chalcohalide compositions that will help engineer more stable and biocompatible semiconductors and devices.

Solution-Phase Synthesis of Alloyed Ba(Zr1-xTix)S3 Perovskite and Non-Perovskite Nanomaterials

Abstract:Chalcogenide perovskites, especially BaZrS3 and its related alloys, present a promising alternative to lead halide perovskites for optoelectronic applications due to their reduced toxicity and enhanced stability. However, the elevated temperature conditions necessary for preparing these materials create a barrier to their incorporation into thin-film devices. In this work, we report a solution-phase synthesis of colloidal nanoparticles of titanium-alloyed BaZrS3, Ba(Zr1-xTix)S3. The titanium alloying was achieved using reactive amide precursors in oleylamine solvent, and N,N'-diethylthiourea served as the sulfur source. Our methodology allowed for the synthesis of Ba(Zr1-xTix)S3 nanomaterials at temperatures at or below 300 oC. The resulting nanocrystals exhibited a phase transition from an orthorhombic distorted perovskite structure to a hexagonal non-perovskite phase as the Ti content surpassed x = 0.11, accompanied by a morphological evolution from nanoplatelets to nanohexagons and ultimately nanobars. The UV-Vis-NIR absorption spectra of BaZr1-xTixS3 nanoparticles exhibit increasing low-energy absorption as the Ti4+ content is increased. This work contributes to the development of low-temperature synthesis methods for Ba(Zr1-xTix)S3 nanomaterials, offering new potential pathways for materials design of chalcogenide perovskites for advanced optoelectronic applications.

Lead-free CsSnCl3 perovskite nanocrystals: rapid synthesis, experimental characterization and DFT simulations

Abstract:Lead-free metal halide perovskites have attracted great attention as light harvesters due to their promising optoelectronic and photovoltaic properties. In this investigation, we have successfully synthesized thermally stable cubic phase cesium tin chloride (CsSnCl3) perovskite nanocrystals with improved surface morphology by adopting a rapid hot-injection technique. The excellent crystalline quality of these cubic shaped nanocrystals was confirmed by high-resolution transmission electron microscopy imaging. The binding of organic ligands on the surface of the sample was identified and characterized using nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy. UV-visible spectroscopy confirmed that the CsSnCl3 nanocrystals have a direct band gap of ∼2.98 eV, which was further confirmed using steady-state photoluminescence spectroscopy. The band edge positions calculated using the Mulliken electronegativity approach predicted the potential photocatalytic capability of the as-prepared nanocrystals, which was then experimentally corroborated through the photodegradation of rhodamine-B dye under both visible and UV-visible irradiation. Our theoretical calculations employing experimentally obtained structural parameters within the generalized gradient approximation (GGA) and GGA+U methods demonstrated a 90% accurate estimation of the experimentally observed optical band gap when Ueff = 6 eV was considered. The ratio of the effective mass of the hole and electron expressed as was also calculated for Ueff = 6 eV. Based on this theoretical calculation and experimental observation of the photocatalytic performance of CsSnCl3 nanocrystals, we have proposed a rational interpretation of the "D" value. We think that a "D" value of either much smaller or much larger than 1 is an indication of the low recombination rate of the photogenerated electron-hole pairs and the high photocatalytic efficiency of the photocatalyst. We believe that this comprehensive investigation might be helpful for the large-scale synthesis of thermally stable cubic CsSnCl3 nanocrystals and also for a greater understanding of their potential in photocatalytic, photovoltaic and other prominent optoelectronic applications.
Room temperature synthesis and pressure-induced optical properties of lead-free 2D Cs3Bi2I6Cl3 perovskite nanocrystals

Abstract:Understanding the fundamental properties of two-dimensional (2D) bismuth-based perovskites is essential for their applications in optoelectronic devices. Here, we report the room-temperature synthesis of 2D Cs 3 Bi 2 I 6 Cl 3 nanocrystals (NCs) by an anti-solvent assisted crystallization method, which display a broad emission bandwidth with a large Stokes shift primarily originating from exciton self-trapping caused by strong electron–phonon coupling and the critical contribution of Bi–Cl bonds to the band edge is demonstrated. Furthermore, analysis of combined in situ high pressure PL, absorption, Raman and PL decay data indicates that the observed pressure-induced emission (PIE) enhancement can be attributed to the efficient surface reconstruction accompanied by the removal of surface-related trap states, as the interaction between oleic acid (OA) and Cs 3 Bi 2 I 6 Cl 3 is strengthened at high pressure. Pressure-induced structural evolutions are well consistent with changes in their optical properties and of particular importance is the retention of 1.5 times PL intensity after releasing pressure. This highlights the importance of steric hindrance and spring effect of the OA ligand in the defect perovskite family, which retain the octahedral distortion in Cs 3 Bi 2 I 6 Cl 3 NCs. Our study not only provides deep insights into the structure–property relationship of 2D Cs 3 Bi 2 I 6 Cl 3 NCs, but also offers a basis for improving the performance of 2D lead-free perovskite NCs.

Lead-free CsSnCl$_{3}$ perovskite nanocrystals: Rapid synthesis, experimental characterization and DFT simulations

Abstract:In this investigation, we have synthesized thermally stable cubic CsSnCl$_{3}$ perovskite nanocrystals (crystal size ~300 nm) with better surface morphology by the hot-injection technique. Excellent crystalline quality of these cubic nanocrystals was confirmed by high-resolution transmission electron microscopy imaging. The binding of organic ligands on the surface of the sample was characterized by nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy. The UV-visible spectroscopy ensured that CsSnCl$_{3}$ nanocrystals have a direct bandgap of ~2.98 eV which was confirmed by steady-state photoluminescence spectroscopy. The band edge positions calculated by the Mulliken electronegativity approach predicted the potential photocatalytic capability of the nanocrystals which was then experimentally confirmed by the photodegradation of RhB dye under visible and UV-visible irradiation. Our theoretical calculation by employing the generalized gradient approximation (GGA) and GGA + U methods demonstrated 90% accurate estimation of experimentally observed optical bandgap when $U_{eff}$ = 6 eV was considered. The ratio of the effective masses of the hole and electron expressed as D = $m_{h}^{*}/m_{e}^{*}$ was also calculated for $U_{eff}$ = 6 eV. Based on this theoretical calculation and experimental observation of the photocatalytic performance of CsSnCl$_{3}$ nanocrystals, we have proposed a new interpretation of the "D" value: a "D" value of either much smaller or much larger than 1 is the indication of low recombination rate of the photogenerated electron-hole pairs and the high photocatalytic efficiency of a photocatalyst. We believe that this comprehensive investigation may be helpful for the large-scale synthesis of thermally stable cubic CsSnCl$_{3}$ nanocrystals and also for a greater understanding of their potential in photocatalytic, photovoltaics and other prominent optoelectronic applications.

Abstract:Optoelectronic devices based on lead halide perovskites are processed in facile ways, yet are remarkably efficient. There are extensive research efforts investigating lead-free perovskite and perovskite-related compounds, yet there are challenges to synthesize these materials in forms that can be directly integrated into thin film devices rather than as bulk powders. Here, we report on the colloidal synthesis and characterization of lead-free, antifluorite Cs2ZrX6 (X = Cl, Br) nanocrystals that are readily processed into thin films. We use transmission electron microscopy and powder X-ray diffraction measurements to determine their size and structural properties, and solid-state nuclear magnetic resonance measurements reveal the presence of oleate ligand, together with a disordered distribution of Cs surface sites. Density functional theory calculations reveal the band structure and fundamental band gaps of 5.06 and 3.91 eV for Cs2ZrCl6 and Cs2ZrBr6, respectively, consistent with experimental values. Finally, we demonstrate that the Cs2ZrCl6 and Cs2ZrBr6 nanocrystal thin films exhibit tunable, broad white photoluminescence with quantum yields of 45% for the latter, with respective peaks in the blue and green spectral regions and mixed systems exhibiting properties between them. Our work represents a critical step toward the application of lead-free Cs2ZrX6 nanocrystal thin films into next-generation light-emitting applications.This article has not yet been cited by other publications.

Abstract:Developing solvent-free methods to synthesize lead-free perovskites is of practical importance from the viewpoint of sustainability. In this work, we use a facile mechanochemical approach to synthesize a series of lead-free Sn-based halide perovskite microcrystals (powders) in ambient conditions directly from precursor powders (CsX and SnX 2 (X = I, Br, Cl)) without any solvent. Such an approach is energy-saving and avoids the use of toxic solvents. There exists phase evolution during the mechanochemical processing of the precursor powders with CsSn 2 Br 5 to CsSnBr 3 in the first hour and finally into the stabilized phase of Cs 2 SnBr 6 after 28 days and with Cs 2 SnCl 4 to CsSnCl 3 in the first hour and finally to the stabilized phase of Cs 2 SnCl 6 after 36 days. The stabilized Cs 2 SnI 6 powders emit light centered at 930 nm under the excitation of 785 nm, and the stabilized Cs 2 SnBr 6 powders emit light centered at 682 nm under the excitation of 365 nm. Both the stabilized Cs 2 SnI 6 and Cs 2 SnBr 6 powders exhibit excellent long-term structural and optical stabilities, and the Cs 2 SnBr 6 powders have a better thermal stability than the Cs 2 SnI 6 powders. This work likely offers a green-route synthesis of lead-free halide perovskites towards large-scale manufacturing and industrialization.

Abstract:Controlled synthesis of colloidal all-inorganic lead halide perovskite semiconductor nanocrystals, such as CsPbBr3, with tunable size, shape, composition, and crystalline phase have recently attracted wide interest for photonic and optoelectronic applications. Herein, we report a new strategy for using alkyl-thiols to induce the transformation of CsPbBr3 to perovskite-related cesium lead halide (CsPb2Br5) with controlled morphology and a crystalline phase at room temperature. By rational tuning the ratios of the alkyl-thiol ligands to alkyl-amines or to alkyl-acids, the as-synthesized colloidal nanocrystals can be rationally controlled from orthorhombic crystalline-phase CsPbBr3 to tetragonal-phase CsPb2Br5 nanosheets and nanowires with high yield. Significantly, the tetragonal CsPb2Br5 nanowires and nanosheets have high stability in high-temperature and high-humidity environments. These findings may open new directions for large-scale synthesis of shape- and crystalline phase-controlled perovskite nanocrystals for high-performance, low-cost optical electronic and optoelectronic devices.

Abstract:Abstract It is challenging to grow atomically thin non-van der Waals perovskite due to the strong electronic coupling between adjacent layers. Here, we present a colloid-driven low supersaturation crystallization strategy to grow atomically thin Cs 3 Bi 2 Br 9 . The colloid solution drives low-concentration solute in a supersaturation state, contributing to initial heterogeneous nucleation. Simultaneously, the colloids provide a stable precursor source in the low-concentration solute. The surfactant is absorbed in specific crystal nucleation facet resulting in the anisotropic growth of planar dominance. Ionic perovskite Cs 3 Bi 2 Br 9 is readily grown from monolayered to six-layered Cs 3 Bi 2 Br 9 corresponding to thicknesses of 0.7, 1.6, 2.7, 3.6, 4.6 and 5.7 nm. The atomically thin Cs 3 Bi 2 Br 9 presents layer-dependent nonlinear optical performance and stacking-induced second harmonic generation. This work provides a concept for growing atomically thin halide perovskite with non-van der Waal structures and demonstrates potential application for atomically thin single crystals’ growth with strong electronic coupling between adjacent layers.

Abstract:Lead-free Cs 3 Sb 2 X 9 (X = Cl, Br, I) perovskites have emerged as eco-friendly alternatives to traditional photovoltaic and optoelectronic materials. This research uses DFT for a comprehensive analysis, bridging knowledge gaps about halide alloying, structural changes, and surface properties on these materials. Analysis of enthalpy of formation and miscibility gap temperature pointed to which solid solutions of are more likely to be experimentally obtained. CsX-terminated low-index (1000) and (0001) surfaces present distinct electronic properties, underscoring the importance of surface control during materials preparation in fine-tuning for photovoltaic and photocatalytic applications. The properties of Cs 3 Sb 2 X 9 nanocrystals were estimated through cluster simulations, shedding light on the role of geometry as a possible contributor to the high photoluminescence observed in previous experimental reports on Cs 3 Sb 2 Br 9 nanocrystals. The study on halide perovskite interfaces suggested Cs 3 Sb 2 Br 9 |Cs 3 Sb 2 I 9 for photovoltaics and Cs 3 Sb 2 Br 9 |Cs 3 Sb 2 Cl 9 for photoluminescence, based on band alignment and electronic structure. Our findings not only advance the fundamental understanding of lead-free Cs 3 Sb 2 X 9 perovskites but also provide practical guidance for experimentalists in designing cesium antimony halide perovskites with tailored optical and electronic properties. This contributing supports the development of sustainable energy solutions for optoelectronic devices.

Abstract:As a kind of promising optoelectrical material, all-inorganic perovskite nanocrystals CsPbX3 (X = Cl, Br, I) have attracted much attention, due to their excellent optoelectrical characteristics, in recent years. However, their synthesis approaches require rigorous conditions, including high temperature, eco-unfriendly solvent or complex post-synthesis process. Herein, to overcome these issues, we reported a novel facile room temperature in-situ strategy using ultraviolet polymerizable acrylic monomer as solvent to synthesis CsPbX3 nanocrystals without a complex post-synthesis process. In this strategy, adequate soluble precursors of Cs, Pb and Br and reaction terminating agent 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane (APTES) were used. The obtained CsPbBr3 nanocrystals showed a high photoluminescence quantum yields (PLQY) of 87.5%. The corresponding polymer composites, by adding light initiator and oligomer under ultraviolet light radiation, performed excellent stability in light, air, moisture and high temperature. The reaction process and the effect of the reaction terminating agent have been investigated in detail. This strategy is a universal one for synthesizing CsPbX3 nanocrystals covering visible light range by introducing HCl and ZnI2.
