Abstract:Background The use of topical steroids for skin whitening is prevalent in many regions, including Saudi Arabia. This study aims to analyze the patterns, motivations, and demographic factors associated with the use of topical steroids for cosmetic purposes in Jazan, Saudi Arabia. Methods This cross-sectional survey was conducted online over three weeks. A structured questionnaire was distributed to adults residing in Jazan, collecting data on demographics, topical steroid use, motivations, and product sources. Descriptive statistics were used to analyze the data. Results Among the 340 participants, 173 (50.9%) reported using topical steroids for skin whitening. The majority of users were female (149, 43.8%) and aged between 20 and 30 years (78, 22.9%). Most participants had used topical steroids for less than a year (127, 73.4%), with usage predominantly in the evening (86, 49.7%). Topical steroids were primarily purchased from pharmacies (70, 40.5%), with significant monthly expenditure variability: 55 participants (31.8%) spent between 50 and 110 SAR, and 62 (35.7%) spent more than 150 SAR. Motivations for use included a preference for lighter skin (49, 28.4%) and treatment of melasma (42, 24.3%). Recommendations from friends (71, 41.0%) and TV advertisements (34, 19.8%) influenced product choice. Conclusion Topical steroid use for skin whitening is widespread among adults in Jazan, with a notable emphasis on cosmetic outcomes and substantial financial investment. There is a critical need for increased public education on the risks associated with topical steroids and enhanced professional guidance to promote safer usage practices.

Abstract:Objective: The current study aimed to assess the prevalence of acne vulgaris, its contributing factors, and treatment satisfaction among the Saudi population in the Western region of Saudi Arabia. Methods: The research employed a cross-sectional design with 390 participants, utilizing a convenience sampling technique. An online questionnaire was distributed via the Internet for data collection. Results: The results revealed that the majority of the participants had either oily (33.8%) or mixed (35.9%) skin, while dry (14.6%) and normal (15.6%) skin types were less common. In terms of acne severity, the largest proportion of participants reported experiencing mild acne (49.2%), followed by those with no acne (36.4%), moderate acne (11.8%), and severe acne (2.6%). Regarding dermatological factors, acne scarring was observed in 45.9% of the participants, and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation was also prevalent, with 45.1% of the participants experiencing it. In terms of psychological factors, shyness was reported by 37.2% of the individuals, and depression was noted in 16.2% of the participants. The individuals aged 15-24 years demonstrated a higher odds ratio (3.153) as compared to other groups indicating a potential association between younger age and the condition. The females exhibited a higher odds ratio (1.838) as compared to males, albeit not statistically significant. Conclusion: This study revealed a considerable impact of acne on individuals. Additionally, the presence of acne scarring, along with psychological challenges such as shyness, depression, and social isolation, underscores the necessity for comprehensive skincare approaches addressing both physical and mental health aspects.

Abstract:Background The use of sunscreen significantly reduces the risk of skin cancer and helps maintain skin health; however, improper use can decrease its effectiveness. This study aimed to investigate the prevalence and factors associated with sunscreen use in Saudi Arabia as well as identifying areas of weakness in sunscreen practices. Methods A cross‐sectional survey‐based study was conducted with a diverse population sample in Saudi Arabia. Participants were asked about their sunscreen usage habits, motivations, and knowledge of proper application techniques. Demographic information, including age, gender, and skin type, were also collected. Results A total of 2321 individuals participated in the study. More than two‐thirds of the participants reported using sunscreen either always, regularly, or often, primarily to maintain a light skin color and prevent skin cancer. Factors associated with sunscreen use included younger age (18–40 years old), female gender, history of sunburn, and fair skin. Despite the majority reporting healthy sun exposure habits, several shortcomings were identified in sunscreen practices, including incorrect application and suboptimal reapplication frequency. Conclusion While sunscreen use is common among the study population, there is a need for improved education on proper application techniques. National awareness campaigns, especially those utilizing popular social media and digital platforms in Saudi Arabia, should focus on disseminating accurate sunscreen use guidelines to maximize sun protection and skin health.

Abstract:Background: The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that 20–50% of antibiotics are misused in society. In addition to the development of antimicrobial resistance, topical antibiotics have been associated with adverse effects such as allergic contact dermatitis (ACD) and inadequate wound healing. This study investigated the appropriateness of topical antibiotic prescriptions among primary care providers in Saudi Arabia. Methods: A cross-sectional survey was conducted among Saudi Arabian primary care providers (physicians (general, family, and internal medicine)) employed in governmental and non-governmental healthcare facilities (primary care centers and outpatient clinics). Results: In total, 222 participants were included in the analysis. A total of 73% agreed that inappropriate topical antibiotic use puts patients at risk, and 43% reported antibiotic resistance in daily practice. Many respondents lacked knowledge of the proper indications for topical antibiotics, and 66.2% attributed this to a lack of updated knowledge, while 45% blamed inadequate supervision. Conclusion: Antibiotic prescription patterns deviated from the standards recommended by WHO. This calls for continuous review at all levels of healthcare, providing more physician education and ensuring that antibiotic therapy guidelines are easily accessible and effectively used to avoid the negative consequences of inappropriate antibiotic prescription.

Objective: The aim of this study was to assess the level of awareness towards the side effects of skin lightening products and associated factors among females in Bahir Dar city, Ethiopia. Methods: An institutional-based cross-sectional study design was conducted in Bahir Dar city from June 28 to August 28, 2022 among females that had been using skin whitening. Samples of 362 females were selected by using multistage sampling technique from selected drug retail outlets. The data was coded, cleaned, and analyzed by using SPSS version 26. The variables were analyzed through multiple regression in order to identify the associated factors towards the level of awareness on the side effects of skin lightening products. Results: Only 42.7% of the respondents had a favorable level of awareness. The highly influencing factors for using skin lightening products were peer pressure (39.9%) and social media (37.4%). Nearly half of the users experienced side effects. Only 8.9% of the respondents know the active ingredients of the products. Level of education was found to have significant association with level of awareness (AOR = 7.66, 95% CI: (1.23, 47.59); P = 0.029). Conclusion: Only less than half of women have favorable awareness towards skin lightening products they use. The significant association between educational level and level of awareness should be considered as an alternative intervention in addition to regulatory restrictions. This can be achieved by lessening the melanin concentration attempting to reduce its physiological skin-coloring effect. 1 Skin lightening products (SLPs) contain elements such as arbutin, kojic acid, mercury, ascorbic acid, and hydroquinone that cause skin safety problems such as rash, melasma and irreversible darkening. 2 A systematic review on SLPs and their ingredients for safety, and health risk categorized the sources of ingredients with safety into three broad categories: Halal-Safe, Haram-Prohibited, and Critical-Need for Evaluation. Based on this categorization, mercury, zinc oxide, titanium oxide, arsenic, and hydroquinone are classified as critical ingredients which need evaluation. 3 Females use these products to treat skin problems such as dark spots, acne scars, or hormone-related discolorations, and to enhance bleaching. 4 SLPs act on the skin through different mechanisms such as inhibition of tyrosinase transcription, hastening of epidermal turnover, inhibition of melanosome transfer, and countering inflammatory and free radical activities. 5 As the rate limiting step in melanin production is arbitrated by tyrosinase enzyme, acting on this enzyme will have a determinant effect on skin patterns. 6 Reports indicated that skin-lightening practice is being habituated among ladies, even without a medical consultation. The products are also being available in drug retail outlets as over-the-counter (OTC) agents. Abstract:Background: Self-medication (SM) has many potential drawbacks, including toxicity, drug resistance, severe adverse effects, drug interactions, drug abuse, and drug dependence, but it is still widely used for a variety of reasons, including time and money savings, symptom prevention or treatment of minor illnesses, a lack of access to doctors, etc. This study aimed to describe and analyse the usage of antibiotics without a prescription, self-medication practises, and patterns of using them among Saudis. Materials and methods: In 13 provinces of Saudi Arabia, a community-based cross-sectional study was done. After gaining consent, data were gathered from 420 adults during face-to-face interviews using a questionnaire. SPSS was used to analyse the data once it had been entered into Microsoft Excel (Microsoft® Corp., Redmond, WA). Results: Regarding self-medication, among 208 participants, there was a male predominance and among upper lower class with respect to socioeconomic status. The self-medication rate was found to be higher among graduates and professionals with respect to education and occupation. Self-medication was discovered to be more prevalent among metropolitan residents. The majority of those who started using self-medication got their knowledge from various advertisements. The most frequent symptom of self-medication was fever, followed by a common cold. The most commonly used medication was paracetamol, followed by cough syrups. Weight loss advertisements influence participants the most for self-medication, followed by hair loss and diabetes. TV advertisements have the highest influence on people practising self-medication. Conclusion: The study calls for greater knowledge of the impacts of antibiotic self-medication, which can be accomplished through efficient measures including behaviour change communication and encouraging more research into its causes and effects.

Abstract:Abstract Background: Acne vulgaris is a common cutaneous disorder caused by chronic inflammation of the sebaceous glands. It is characterized by the presence of open and closed comedones, oily skin, pimples, and scarring. It mainly affects skin with numerous oil glands, including the face, chest, and back. The risk factors for acne include genetic, hormonal, and lifestyle factors. Although acne is a benign condition, it has a worldwide prevalence of approximately 10%. Herein, we aimed to study the prevalence of acne vulgaris and its association with lifestyle in the general population. Methodology: This cross-sectional study used a self-administered electronically distributed questionnaire to assess the association between acne vulgaris and lifestyle among the general population in the Jazan region. Results: A total of 462 residents of Jazan responded (270 females [58.4%] and 192 males [41.6%]). The mean age was 25.52 years (SD = 7.7). Approximately 63.6% of our respondents suffered from acne, which affected the cheeks (75.9%). Acne was significantly associated with skin type, use of facial cleansers, BMI, family history, stress, and fast food intake. However, 64.6% of the respondents did not visit a doctor for acne. Furthermore, 25.9% of the respondents did not use any medications, whereas 31% used topical medications. Conclusion: Approximately two-thirds of the study participants had acne. Therefore, more efforts are needed to assess the cause of the high prevalence of acne in our region and to determine the related risk factors to minimize its incidence by conducting educational programs.

Abstract:Background Mental health treatment, particularly through psychotropic medications, is becoming increasingly prominent worldwide. In Saudi Arabia, the acceptance and understanding of these treatments are shaped by unique cultural and social factors. Despite some awareness, there remains a need for deeper insights into the public's perceptions and knowledge of psychotropic medications. This study aims to examine the awareness levels of psychotropic medications among the Saudi population, their perceived benefits and risks, the prevalence of their use, and any demographic differences in these perceptions. Methods Employing a quantitative, cross-sectional design, this study collected data via an online questionnaire from Saudi residents aged 18 and above. The questionnaire, validated by experts, covered demographic details, awareness and knowledge of psychotropic medications, and personal or vicarious experiences with these medications. Data analysis was performed using SPSS (IBM Corp., Armonk, NY, USA), applying descriptive and inferential statistics to provide a comprehensive view of the current landscape. The study was conducted over four weeks, from May 1, 2024, to May 31, 2024. Results The study indicated a demographic skew towards younger individuals, with a significant predominance of female respondents (70.86%, n=1024). A notable 63.52% (n=922) of participants reported being aware of psychotropic medications. Regarding knowledge, 37.83% (n=549) of respondents were somewhat knowledgeable about the benefits, while 37.57% (n=545) were somewhat knowledgeable about the risks. The prevalence of use was reported by 41.92% (n=608) of respondents, mainly through acquaintances rather than personal use. Younger, predominantly female, and well-educated individuals demonstrated higher levels of awareness and acceptance of psychotropic medications. Significant variations in perceptions were observed based on age, gender, and educational level. Respondents aged 18-24 years (52.52%, n=762) were significantly more likely to be aware of psychotropic medications (p < 0.01), and female respondents showed a higher acceptance rate (p < 0.05). Educational level also played a crucial role, with college-educated individuals (63.38%, n=919) displaying greater acceptance and awareness compared to those with only a high school education (28.24%, n=409) (p < 0.01). The general opinion on the effectiveness and adequacy of public information about psychotropic medications was mixed, with 52.93% (n=768) acknowledging their benefits while 31.92% (n=463) expressed concerns about side effects, indicating a need for improved public education. Conclusion The study emphasizes the importance of enhancing public education and awareness initiatives to improve knowledge and acceptance of psychotropic medications in Saudi Arabia. This could lead to better mental health outcomes and broader acceptance of these treatment options.

Abstract:Introduction: Acne vulgaris is one of the most prevalent inflammatory conditions in the world that primarily affects teenagers. Its prevalence and the contributing factors vary across different regions and populations. Genetic predisposition, hormonal influences, dietary habits, lifestyle choices, and environmental factors are believed to be significant contributors. Methods: This was a cross-sectional study involving 419 participants from the Jazan region, Saudi Arabia. The study employed non-probability convenience sampling techniques. Data were collected through online questionnaires and analyzed using Statistical Product and Service Solutions (SPSS, version 27; IBM SPSS Statistics for Windows, Armonk, NY). Results: The study found that acne prevalence was high, affecting more than half (66.8%) of the participants, with mild severity reported by 51.8%. Pimples were most commonly found on the face (65.2%), followed by the back (45.3%) and chest (29.6%). Participants with oily skin had twice the likelihood of acne compared to those with dry skin (OR=2.14). Increasing age was associated with a 5% decrease in acne risk per year. Significant associations were found for age (p=0.010), female gender (p=0.017), and oily skin (p<0.001) with acne development. Conclusion: The study found a high prevalence rate of acne vulgaris among the young population in the Jazan region, Saudi Arabia. Age, female gender, and having oily skin were predictors for developing acne vulgaris. Complications such as acne scarring and psychological impacts such as shyness underscore the significant burden of acne on social and psychological well-being. Enhanced treatment and improved quality of life necessitate heightened awareness campaigns concerning acne vulgaris, its treatments, and associated complications, as revealed by the study.

Abstract:Women in Pakistan are obsessed with the concept of glowing whitish complexion to get good marriage proposals, jobs and desired status in society. Most of these fairness creams contain very high amount of mercury and hydroquinone. These act by inhibiting the tyrosinase enzyme responsible for melanin production. The use of skin fairness products that frequently contain toxic ingredients is associated with significant adverse health side effects, resulting in immense challenges for dermatologists. Despite current regulations, lightening agents continue to dominate the cosmetic industry. In this review, our international team of dermatologists tackles the topic of skin lightening as a global public health issue, one of great concern for both women’s health and racial implications. We aim to inspire a global discourse on how modern dermatologists can utilize scientific evidence and cultural competency to serve and protect patients of diverse skin types and backgrounds. In doing so, we hope to promote healthy skin and inclusive concepts of beauty in our patients and society.

Abstract:BACKGROUND: The Internet is being increasingly used in our lives. Along with Internet use, social media sites are especially popular and are used by many people on a daily basis.<sup> </sup>Many studies were conducted to see the people's perception and their attitude towards the use of the Internet for health information. Such studies were also carried out in Saudi Arabia, but most have been limited to a specific target sample of the population. Our study aimed to assess the perception towards and use of different platforms and search engines to seek health information in Saudi Arabia.METHOD: A cross-sectional study was conducted in Saudi Arabia during the year 2021. An Arabic online questionnaire using Google forms was sent to a randomized sample. Microsoft Excel 2016 was used for data entry, and statistical analysis was performed using IBM© SPSS© Statistics version 25 (IBM© Corp., Armonk, NY, USA).RESULT: Among the 1363 participants, 56.2% were females and 43.8% were males with a mean age of 30.73 ± 12.3. The majority were living in Western region. The most used social media platforms were WhatsApp (91.5%), YouTube (84.6%), and Twitter (82.6%), respectively. The most common medical websites browsed were the Saudi Ministry of Health (67%) and the Food and Drug Administration (54.4%). Some 40.1% of the participants had a medical consultation online from a doctor, and most of them (67.8%) trusted the online physician. Finally, most of the participants (90.9%) thought that health information on the Internet or social media contributes to raising the level of health awareness among the general population. There was a significant relationship between educational level and gender and online health-seeking behavior (p > 0.05).CONCLUSION: The study reinforced that health information that is sought from the Internet and social media platforms has a great impact on the population, emphasizing the need for credible information sources and how to access them.
Occupational-Related Contact Dermatitis: Prevalence and Risk Factors Among Healthcare Workers in the Al'Qassim Region, Saudi Arabia During the COVID-19 Pandemic

Abstract:Objective This study aimed to estimate and investigate the prevalence and the risk factors implicated in contact dermatitis among healthcare workers in the Al'Qassim region, Saudi Arabia, during the COVID-19 pandemic. Methodology We conducted a cross-sectional survey among healthcare workers at hospitals in the Al'Qassim region. Data was collected using a standardized and validated Nordic Occupational Skin Questionnaire version 2002. We included 408 participants in the analysis. Results The majority of the respondents (66.7%) were females. The mean age of participants was 34 (SD: ±9) years. Most of the participants who reported contact dermatitis were nurses (58.6%). Direct patient care roles represent 78% of participants. Respondents who work 40-50 hours per week represent 61.5% of the sample. The most commonly recorded symptoms were dryness (92.9%), itchiness (50%), and redness (46.4%) of the skin. The most affected site was hand 93.5%. Hand cleanser was the commonest substance implicated in the worsening of the skin changes (59.2%). Protective glove material that worsens contact dermatitis, such as natural rubber/latex, represents 76% of responses. A significant association (p=0.001)was seen in the occurrence of contact dermatitis in those with a history of allergic eye symptoms (33.3%) and those without (58%). Participants with a mean age of 26.47 years were more prone to develop contact dermatitis (CI: 1.19-7.06; p=0.067). Pharmacists and interns had 3.69 and 4.90 times higher odds of having contact dermatitis (CI: 0.95-7.33; CI: 22.1; p=0.027; p=0.038, respectively). Those involved in patient education and research activities at work were 6.48 (p=0.017) and 20.51 (p=0.024) times likely to develop contact dermatitis (CI: 1.38-30.31; CI: 1.49-282.15, respectively). Conclusions We explored the prevalence and risk factors for occupational contact dermatitis among healthcare workers in Saudi Arabia. The prevalence of reported skin changes during the pandemic was 46.4%. Our study also showed that the risk factors of developing contact dermatitis include female gender, history of eye allergies, and young age group.
The Prevalence and Awareness of Regular Follow Up of Patients Treated with Phototherapy for Skin Cancer Surveillance

Abstract:Objective background: Regular full-body skin examination is commonly ignored in patients post-phototherapy, despite ultraviolet (UV) radiation being carcinogenic. Our objectives are to assess the prevalence of regular follow-up and full-body skin examination for patients treated with phototherapy, as well as the relationship between phototherapy exposure and the development of skin cancer in Saudi Arabia. Methods settings design: This was a cross-sectional retrospective study conducted from January 2022 to July 2022. The study included 99 patients, selected via simple random sampling, from King Saud University Medical City, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, who underwent phototherapy for at least 8 weeks and were followed for a minimum of 18 months post-treatment. Patients who met the inclusion criteria were called and given a questionnaire. Results: Out of 99 patients, only 26 (26.26%) underwent full-body skin examinations by their physicians after phototherapy treatment. The average follow-up time after phototherapy was 3.2 years. Most study participants (85.85%) were unaware that cancer was a possible complication of phototherapy. Participants with knowledge about skin cancer complications were more likely to have undergone a full-body exam (P = 0.001). None of the participants developed any type of skin cancer after phototherapy. Conclusion: Patients treated with phototherapy had no adequate information about the risk of skin cancer. The incidence of skin cancer was zero in our small cohort. Dermatologists in Saudi Arabia do not have an evidence-based notion regarding the risk of skin cancer among the Arab population after phototherapy. Since There is a lack of data examining the relationship between phototherapy and skin cancer in the Arab region, this study should trigger future studies with large populations and longer follow up periods.

Abstract:Background The use of cosmetic products is growing in dominance in the Arab population, making it essential to measure its effects on users. The production of cosmetics has been largely driven by consumerism and a bid to keep abreast with the latest trends in the beauty industry with less attention on how the users' quality of life (QoL) is affected. Aims This study aims to investigate the effect of cosmetic products on users' quality of life in eight Arab countries. Methods A cross‐sectional study was carried out using an online data collection approach. A validated and specialist instrument tool called BeautyQoL, which consists of five domains and a total of 52 questions, was distributed to a sample of 2219 cosmetic users. Descriptive and inferential statistical analysis was done using SPSS® version 26.0. Results The mean age of participants was 34 ± 11.25 years, and more women were represented in the sample (71%) than men. The majority of respondents had oily skin type (39.6%) and tan skin tone (30.4%). QoL through cosmetic use is computed with a mean score of 51 out of 100. The users' mean score satisfaction from cosmetic use is centred on attractiveness (56.1), followed by self‐confidence (51.8). Cosmetics have a statistically significant effect on participants who are young adults, women, single, and employed with high income. As the respondents' skin tone deepens from very fair to dark, the mean score for each domain significantly increases, whereas when skin type changes from very oily to dry, the mean score for each domain decreases. Conclusion The effect of cosmetics on the users' QoL is limited, contrary to the narrative commonly portrayed in cosmetics' advertisements. Therefore, the use of cosmetics among the Arab population should be from an informed perspective of their specific needs instead of conforming to the viral trends pedalled by influencers and bloggers on social media, which might be irrelevant for them.

Prevalence of Iatrogenic Vitamin D Toxicity Among the Saudi Population of Vitamin D Users Due to Overcorrection

Abstract:Background Despite abundant sunlight exposure, vitamin D deficiency remains a major challenge in Saudi Arabia. Meanwhile, the widespread use of vitamin D supplements has prompted concerns about toxicity, which although rare, can have severe health consequences. Objective The objective of this cross-sectional study was to analyze the prevalence and associated factors of iatrogenic vitamin D toxicity among the Saudi population of vitamin D users due to overcorrection. Methods An online questionnaire was used to collect data from 1,677 participants across all regions of Saudi Arabia. The questionnaire included responses on the prescription, duration of vitamin D intake, dosage, frequency, history of vitamin D toxicity, symptom onset, and duration. Results One thousand six hundred and seventy-seven responses were included across all regions of Saudi Arabia. A majority of participants were female (66.7%) and around half were aged 18-25 years. A history of vitamin D use was reported by 63.8% of participants, and 48% were still using vitamin D supplements. Most participants (79.3%) consulted a physician, and 84.8% had taken a vitamin D test before using the supplement. Commonly reported motives for taking vitamin D included vitamin D deficiency (72.1%), lack of sun exposure (26.1%), and hair loss (20.6%). Symptoms of overdose were reported by 6.6% of participants, with 3.3% having an overdose and 2.1% experiencing both overdose and symptoms. Conclusion This study showed that although a large portion of the Saudi population is taking vitamin D supplements, the prevalence of vitamin D toxicity is relatively low. However, this prevalence should not be ignored, and further research is needed to understand the factors contributing to vitamin D toxicity in order to minimize its occurrence.

We want to express our appreciation for the insightful study on "dermatologists' knowledge, attitude, and practice pattern toward low-dose oral Minoxidil in hair loss in Saudi Arabia" 1 and provide our perspectives as medical students in the UK. Oral Minoxidil is an antihypertensive used for hair loss management, and this study showed that the usage of low-dose oral Minoxidil is increasing; however, many dermatologists may not prescribe this medication. 1 The study showed that 84 dermatologists participated (60% being male). However, this is not representative of Saudi Arabia's dermatologist population. In 2020, there were 2678 practicing dermatologists in Saudi Arabia. 2 Therefore, including a larger sample size would allow the results to be more generalisable and representative of the dermatologist population in Saudi Arabia. Additionally, the questionnaire could have been more comprehensive. Firstly, no information was gathered regarding where they primarily work. Due to this omission, it can be difficult to draw general conclusions, as we are not aware of the demographics of the participants. Therefore, a large proportion of dermatologists could be from the same institution. Thus, results may demonstrate the local institution practices rather than generalisable practices nationally. Future studies could identify trends in the usage of Minoxidil compared to the educational background of participants in relation to the primary institution they attended and the number of educational events (eg, conferences) they participated in per year. We commend Altalhab for creating and validating the questionnaire used in the study. However, the anonymous survey was in English, whereas the official language of Saudi Arabia is Arabic, thus meaning it may not be accessible to all dermatologists. Therefore, having the questionnaire in the national language may allow more dermatologists to partake in the study by dismantling language barriers and mitigating potential participant biases. In addition, the survey was conducted via Google Forms and distributed to participants via email or text messages if they were board-certified Saudi Arabia dermatologists. 1 Future research can use focus groups, which will provide qualitative data in addition to quantitative data, allowing further insight into the use of low-dose oral Minoxidil, providing candid responses and developing ideas from others. 3 In Table 5, when participants were asked about prescribing Minoxidil, the option "no" should have had a follow-up open question where participants could have listed alternatives they prescribe, which could have allowed a better understanding of the prescribing patterns or behaviour when Minoxidil is indicated. In addition, a longitudinal study would allow continuous monitoring, 4 allowing us to see trends in the usage of low-dose oral Minoxidil for hair disorders and how dermatologists prescribe it in the long term. Overall, we appreciate Altalhab's contribution to this journal. While this study provides valuable insights into using low-dose oral Minoxidil among dermatologists, it is crucial to acknowledge the limitations and develop them in future research.
