Abstract:The burgeoning public interest in techniques to enhance a smile has led to demand on clinicians that require important steps in the pre-treatment approval process. Digital dentistry provides a new level of planning and visualisation, improving clinical risk assessment and patient engagement. Dentists must acquire a sound understanding of aesthetic design parameters, including physiologic limitations, and must match patient expectations with clinical reality. Digital design offers flexibility not obtainable with the conventional analogue wax up. Multiple versions of a design can be viewed in a 2D or 3D simulation and accommodated efficiently in CAD software, with 3D printed models generated from each design. The ability to use a test drive or mock-up based on a 3D digital analysis and design, has created a new standard of care for treatment planning, providing an accurate and reversible preview before any definitive dentistry is done. It also places the responsibility for understanding biologic limitations of care on the general dentist, with the risk that digital planning may over-promise if not matched with underlying hard and soft tissue conditions. It improves interdisciplinary and laboratory communication and increases the predictability of the proposed treatment. The result is greater patient satisfaction and an improved informed consent process.

Abstract:ABSTRACT Genome-wide expression analyses have provided clues on how Salmonella proliferates inside cultured macrophages and epithelial cells. However, in vivo studies show that Salmonella does not replicate massively within host cells, leaving the underlying mechanisms of such growth control largely undefined. In vitro infection models based on fibroblasts or dendritic cells reveal limited proliferation of the pathogen, but it is presently unknown whether these phenomena reflect events occurring in vivo. Fibroblasts are distinctive, since they represent a nonphagocytic cell type in which S. enterica serovar Typhimurium actively attenuates intracellular growth. Here, we show in the mouse model that S. Typhimurium restrains intracellular growth within nonphagocytic cells positioned in the intestinal lamina propria. This response requires a functional PhoP-PhoQ system and is reproduced in primary fibroblasts isolated from the mouse intestine. The fibroblast infection model was exploited to generate transcriptome data, which revealed that ∼2% (98 genes) of the S. Typhimurium genome is differentially expressed in nongrowing intracellular bacteria. Changes include metabolic reprogramming to microaerophilic conditions, induction of virulence plasmid genes, upregulation of the pathogenicity islands SPI-1 and SPI-2, and shutdown of flagella production and chemotaxis. Comparison of relative protein levels of several PhoP-PhoQ-regulated functions (PagN, PagP, and VirK) in nongrowing intracellular bacteria and extracellular bacteria exposed to diverse PhoP-PhoQ-inducing signals denoted a regulation responding to acidic pH. These data demonstrate that S. Typhimurium restrains intracellular growth in vivo and support a model in which dormant intracellular bacteria could sense vacuolar acidification to stimulate the PhoP-PhoQ system for preventing intracellular overgrowth.

Abstract:Without a doubt, dentistry is quickly modernizing and transitioning to digital technology. In the past, taking dental impression, making dental models, and assembling dental laboratory prostheses took a lot of time. However, the advent of the intraoral scanner, digital radiography, computer-aided design (CAD)/computer-aided manufacturing (CAM), 3D printers, and artificial intelligence (AI) software revolutionized the field of dentistry as we know it today.[1] [2] [3] Precision and accuracy are two of digital dentistry's key benefits. Cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) and digital radiography are two examples of digital imaging technologies that enable dentists to get extremely precise and detailed pictures of the teeth and surrounding tissues.[3] The utilization of these data allows for very precise and predictable treatment planning and execution. The effectiveness and quickness with which dental restorations may be made is another advantage of digital dentistry. With the use of CAD/CAM technology, dental restorations may be designed and created in a single session, doing away with the need for further visits and interim restorations.[4] Increased precision and accuracy, quicker production times, and more personalization options are all benefits of digital dentures. They also eliminate the requirement for traditional impression materials, which some patients could find painful.[5] Due to their reduced waste generation and resource usage, digital dentures may also be more ecologically friendly than conventional ones. Abstract:Monocephalus Diprosopus is the rarest form of conjoined twins. The etiology of this anomaly is stil obscure. We herein report a monocephalus diprosopus case that was diagnosed in week 19 of pregnancy was presented due to its rarity and the significance of its prenatal diagnosis. Recommended a pregnancy termination since it does not have a definitive treatment today, prenatal diagnosis made for such fetuses at an early stage bears importance in terms of lowering the severity of psychological trauma.

Abstract:Objective To identify the different uses and modalities of digital technologies to diagnose, plan and monitor peri‐implant soft tissue conditions and aesthetics. Methods A comprehensive narrative review of pertinent literature was conducted, critically appraising key digital technologies that may assist peri‐implant soft tissue augmentation and assessment. An electronic search on four databases including studies published prior to 1st July 2023 was performed and supplemented by a manual search. Results Predominantly, tools such as cone beam computed tomography (CBCT), intraoral scanning (iOS), intraoral ultrasonography and digital spectrophotometry were commonly to assess and monitor peri‐implant soft tissues. The main clinical and research applications included: (i) initial assessment of mucosal thickness, supra‐crestal tissue height and keratinized mucosa width, (ii) evaluation of peri‐implant soft tissue health and inflammation, (iii) monitoring profilometric changes and midfacial mucosal margin stability over time and (iv) aesthetic evaluation through colour assessment. While evidence for some digital tools may be limited, the integration of digital technologies into peri‐implant soft tissue management holds great promise. These technologies offer improved precision, comfort and speed in assessment, benefiting both patients and clinicians. Conclusion As digital technologies progress, their full potential in peri‐implant soft tissue augmentation and their value will become more evident with ongoing research. Embracing these innovations and their potential benefits is recommended to ensure that during progress in implant dentistry, patient care is not hindered.

Abstract:The advent of new technologies in the field of medicine and dentistry is giving improvements that lead the clinicians to have materials and procedures able to improve patients’ quality of life. In dentistry, the last digital techniques offer a fully digital computerized workflow that does not include the standard multiple traditional phases. The purpose of this study is to evaluate all clinical trials and clinical randomized trials related to the digital or dental impression technique in prosthetic dentistry trying to give the readers global information about advantages and disadvantages of each procedure. Data collection was conducted in the main scientific search engines, including articles from the last 10 years, in order to obtain results that do not concern obsolete impression techniques. Elsevier, Pubmed and Embase have been screened as sources for performing the research. The results data demonstrated how the working time appears to be improved with digital workflow, but without a significant result (P = 0.72596). The papers have been selected following the Population Intervention Comparison Outcome (PICO) question, which is related to the progress on dental impression materials and technique. The comparison between dentists or practitioners with respect to classic impression procedures, and students open to new device and digital techniques seem to be the key factor on the final impression technique choice. Surely, digital techniques will end up supplanting the analogical ones altogether, improving the quality of oral rehabilitations, the economics of dental practice and also the perception by our patients.

Abstract:In dental esthetic rehabilitation, patients pay great attention to the rehabilitative esthetic effect before teeth preparation, and this is also an important content of doctor-patient communication. Along with the development and combined application of intraoral scan, three-dimensional (3D) face scan, digital design, numerical control machining and 3D printing technology, digital technology is gradually applied to the virtual simulated design before irreversible operation in dental esthetic rehabilitation. Digital technology can be used in dentistry to simulate the esthetic outcome in advance, to assist communication among the dentists, patients and dental technicians, and to realize satisfactory outcome in the final restorations precisely, which, as a result, increases the clinical satisfaction. This review focuses on the application of digital virtual simulated design technology in dental esthetic rehabilitation, analyzes the current research development, deficiency and future prospects, so as to provide guidance for clinical diagnosis and treatment.

This review article explores the evolution of digital dentistry, including advancements in imaging, CAD/CAM, 3D printing, and regenerative dentistry, amongst others. It discusses current and future applications of digital dentistry, such as AI, AR, and teledentistry. The potential benefits and challenges associated with these applications are also examined, including their impact on patient privacy, dental education, and the overall practice of dentistry and oral surgery. Indeed, digital dentistry has transformed the way we diagnose, plan, and treat our patients. In other words, the use of digital technologies in dentistry has allowed for greater precision, accuracy, and efficiency, while also improving patient outcomes. Abstract:Background: Digital technologies have expanded in the field of dentistry, especially in the clinical and diagnostic aspects of occlusal abnormalities. Consequently, the purpose of this narrative review is to identify and synthesize data concerning the effects of these sophisticated digital technologies on improved diagnostic performance, treatment interventions, and patient outcomes. Methods: Cochrane, Scopus, Web of Science, and PubMed were searched and, therefore, performed to find the pertinent digital technologies in dentistry from the published literature. The search was conducted in the period between 2000 and 2024. The criteria for inclusion of the studies targeted technologies that were Cone-Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT), intraoral scanners, 3D imaging, and Computer-Aided Design and Manufacturing (CAD/CAM). Some of the comparing between conventional and modern approaches were raised. Results: Digital technologies have enhanced the diagnostic process due to extended visualization and precise evaluation of occlusal disturbances Conclusion: It has been seen that the application of information technologies in dentistry significantly improved the diagnostics and therapy of occlusion disturbances. While there are some invincible challenges posed by these advancements, the prospects are noteworthy when it comes to accuracy, efficiency, and patient benefits.

Abstract:The pursuit of aesthetic excellence in dentistry, shaped by societal trends and digital advancements, highlights the critical role of precise shade matching in restorative procedures. Although conventional methods are prevalent, challenges such as shade guide variability and subjective interpretation necessitate a re-evaluation in the face of emerging non-proximity digital instruments. This systematic review employs PRISMA protocols and keyword-based search strategies spanning the Scopus®, PubMed.gov, and Web of ScienceTM databases, with the last updated search carried out in October 2023. The study aimed to synthesise literature that identified digital non-proximity recording instruments and associated colour spaces in dentistry and compare the clinical outcomes of digital systems with spectrophotometers and conventional visual methods. Utilising predefined criteria and resolving disagreements between two reviewers through Cohen's kappa calculator, the review assessed 85 articles, with 33 included in a PICO model for clinical comparisons. The results reveal that 42% of studies employed the CIELAB colour space. Despite the challenges in study quality, non-proximity digital instruments demonstrated more consistent clinical outcomes than visual methods, akin to spectrophotometers, emphasising their efficacy in controlled conditions. The review underscores the evolving landscape of dental shade matching, recognising technological advancements and advocating for methodological rigor in dental research.

Abstract:Background: Computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) technology has expanded to embrace implant, maxillofacial and removable prosthodontics including the fabrication of complete dentures. However, despite that the implementation of computer-aided technology with edentulous patients seemed to improve and simplify complete denture treatment as it significantly reduced the number of patient visits, yet still a limited number of reports described its use for complete denture fabricationObjective: This literature review will cast light on digital technology and its implementation in complete denture prosthodontics including its advantages, limitations, techniques and will present the articles that reported or investigated this topic and their outcomes including clinical or patient-based outcomesMaterials and methods: An independent electronic search of the English language literature was conducted by 2 investigators (authors), in bibliographic database MEDLINE, EMBASE, the Cochrane Library and Google up to March 2017 using certain key words. The electronic search was conducted in 3 stages in a systematic order. Stage 1, involved acquiring a record of titles from the electronic databases, which was then independently analysed by each investigator to extract relevant titles based on the predetermined inclusion criteria. The investigators independently applied the exclusion criteria, and any inconsistency was resolved by discussion. In uncertainty situations, the disputed article was included in the second (abstract) stage for contemplation. Stage 2 involved screening the abstracts of all selected titles by both investigators separately. Once more, any disagreement between the investigators was discussed, and, in uncertain situations, the abstract was included in the third and last stage of full-text analysis. At stage 3, all full text articles that were included were studied by the two investigators. This was followed by applying the final exclusion criteria and reviewing the final list of articles thoroughly and in depth to extract all relevant qualitative and quantitative data. Results: The review included a total of 20 articles. 2 studies described techniques for digital arrangement of denture teeth, 13 studies described techniques for digital fabrication of digital complete dentures either using rapid prototyping technology or computerized numerical control milling. The other 5 articles were clinical studies that assessed the clinical and patient-based outcomes of digitally-fabricated dentures.Conclusions: Digitally fabricated dentures can be an effective and time-efficient option for completely edentulous patients with favourable clinical and patient-centered outcomes. They are preferred by clinicians and patients as they significantly reduced clinical time and number of appointments, improved retention as well as digital archivability and hence reproducibility. However, dental literature lacks short-term and long term prospective clinical studies in this field to be able to reach definitive conclusions.
The Use and Performance of Artificial Intelligence in Prosthodontics: A Systematic Review

Abstract:(1) Background: The rapid pace of digital development in everyday life is also reflected in dentistry, including the emergence of the first systems based on artificial intelligence (AI). This systematic review focused on the recent scientific literature and provides an overview of the application of AI in the dental discipline of prosthodontics. (2) Method: According to a modified PICO-strategy, an electronic (MEDLINE, EMBASE, CENTRAL) and manual search up to 30 June 2021 was carried out for the literature published in the last five years reporting the use of AI in the field of prosthodontics. (3) Results: 560 titles were screened, of which 30 abstracts and 16 full texts were selected for further review. Seven studies met the inclusion criteria and were analyzed. Most of the identified studies reported the training and application of an AI system (n = 6) or explored the function of an intrinsic AI system in a CAD software (n = 1). (4) Conclusions: While the number of included studies reporting the use of AI was relatively low, the summary of the obtained findings by the included studies represents the latest AI developments in prosthodontics demonstrating its application for automated diagnostics, as a predictive measure, and as a classification or identification tool. In the future, AI technologies will likely be used for collecting, processing, and organizing patient-related datasets to provide patient-centered, individualized dental treatment.

Abstract:Abstract Evolution happens in our everyday lifestyles in each field and prosthodontics is no exception to it. A new technology of sufferers is predicted to have new aspirations and desires. To fulfill these desires, it is our obligation to be updated with each expertise and capabilities about new developments in prosthodontics, so that these aspirations can be met. Although conventional techniques have worked satisfactorily for decades, with the growth of digital dentistry, conventional methods have become redundant. Digital methods are more accurate, efficient, less time-consuming, simpler, faster, and believed to have a better potential than conventional methods. This paper gives perception of trends and standards applied in modern prosthodontics and how they have an edge with the existing traditional or conventional methods used in the field.

Abstract:Digital dental impression technology has emerged as a transformative innovation in conservative dentistry, revolutionizing the process of obtaining accurate replicas of dental structures. This review explores the evolution, advantages, and implications of digital impression techniques in contemporary dental practice. From intraoral scanners to CAD/CAM technology and 3D printing, digital systems offer enhanced accuracy, efficiency, and patient comfort compared to conventional methods. Studies demonstrate the clinical acceptability and superiority of digital impressions for fabricating dental restorations and prosthetics, with reduced operation time and improved patient experience. The widespread adoption of digital technology heralds a new era in dentistry, promising streamlined workflows, superior restoration quality, and enhanced patient satisfaction. Embracing digital impression technology is essential for dental practitioners to remain at the forefront of modern dentistry and deliver optimal patient care.
