Abstract:Background: Despite the crucial role of mindfulness and self-care in nurses' physical and mental health, as well as their professional well-being, most nurses exhibit low levels of self-care. Moreover, there is a lack of understanding of the diverse subgroups of mindful self-care among nurses. Objectives: The present study delved into the diverse groups of mindful self-care among nurses and investigated the correlation between these groups and their mental health. Methods: Convenience sampling was used to select nurses from Guizhou province, China, from August to September 2023. A total of 1020 nurses were investigated, and 1001 questionnaires were included, for an effective return rate of 98.1%. The demographic characteristics questionnaire, Chinese version of the Brief Mindful Self-Care Scale, Patient Health Questionnaire-9, Generalised Anxiety Disorder-7 and Perceived Stress Scale were used. Latent profile analysis was performed on the characteristics of nurses' mindful self-care, and the correlations between the latent profiles, demographic characteristics and mental well-being were identified using chi-square tests, Spearman correlation analyses and non-parametric tests. Results: A total of 1001 nurses were included, and they were divided into four heterogeneous subgroups: the Inconsistent Mindful Self-Care Group (4.40%), Balanced Development Group (43.36%), Moderate Mindful Self-Care Group (39.36%), and High Mindful Self-Care Group (12.89%). Results of single factor analysis showed that the nurses' department and average monthly income were the factors influencing the potential profiles. Mindful self-care negatively correlated with anxiety and depression but was not correlated with perceived stress. There were significant differences in perceived stress, anxiety and depression between different mindful self-care groups. Conclusion: The present study used latent profile analysis to identify four distinct subgroups of hospital nurses based on their mindful self-care and revealed varying levels of anxiety, depression and perceived stress between groups. These results emphasise the need for tailored mindful self-care strategies to promote nurses' well-being.

Abstract:BACKGROUND The aim of this study was to compare the pregnancy outcome, especially the prevalence of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM), in a group of patients with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), with a group of healthy weight-matched women. METHODS Retrospectively, we evaluated the pregnancies of 66 women with PCOS, who had been treated for infertility and who delivered at our department. These were compared with a group of 66 age- and weight-matched controls. RESULTS We did not find any significant differences in the prevalence of pregnancy complications such as gestational diabetes mellitus, pregnancy-induced hypertension (PIH) and premature deliveries between the group of PCOS patients and the controls. CONCLUSION When differences in age and weight between PCOS patients and controls are negligible, PCOS is not associated with a higher risk of pregnancy complications.

Abstract:Objective: To investigate and identify different profiles of occupational burnout among Chinese nurses and explore how these burnout profiles moderate the relationship between the nursing work environment and perceived care quality. Methods: Cross-sectional data retrieved from the Chinese Nursing Work Environment Survey (C-NWES) were used for analysis. Variables of interest included occupational burnout, the nursing work environment, nurses' perceived care quality, and demographic characteristics. Latent profile analysis was employed to identify potential profiles of occupational burnout, which were subsequently used as moderating variables to explore the relationship between the nursing work environment and perceived care quality. Results: Four profiles of occupational burnout were identified among Chinese nurses: Self-Fulfillment profile (38.3%), Emotional Exhaustion profile (37.7%), Lack of Accomplishment profile (16.6%), and Self-Isolation profile (7.4%). Among these, nurses in the Self-Fulfillment profile showed the greatest responsiveness to changes in the work environment, followed by those in the Self-Isolation profile, with the Emotional Exhaustion profile being the least responsive. Conclusions: The findings highlight the need for tailored interventions to address the specific needs of distinct nurse groups experiencing burnout, enabling organizations to improve nurses' well-being, work performance, and patient care quality.

Abstract:Abstract Background Various factors have been found to be associated with high levels of death anxiety experienced by oncology nurses. The aim of this study was to use a person-oriented approach to examine the death anxiety patterns of Chinese oncology nurses and to analyze the differences in anxiety characteristics and their associated influencing factors. Methods A cross-sectional survey regarding palliative care among registered oncology nurses was conducted in Jiangsu Province, China.Latent class analyses was applied to identify their patterns of death anxiety. The score of PCQN-C (The Chinese version of the Palliative Care Quiz for Nursing) and FATCOD-B-C (The Chinese version of the Frommelt Attitude Toward Care of the Dying scale), the demographic and working characteristics were further analyzed through covariance analysis (ANCOVA) and multivariate (or logistic) regression across the subgroups. Results A two-potential-category model was selected based on the fit index. The results showed that 79% of oncology nurses belonged to the high pressure and pain group and 21% belonged to the low death anxiety group. The high pressure and pain group had significantly higher scores in the dimensions of emotion, stress and pain, time awareness, and cognition compared to the low death anxiety group. Factors influencing the high pressure and pain group included shorter working years, non-national or provincial oncology nursing specialists, non-national palliative care specialists, never discussing the topic of death with patients or family members, no palliative care related training, and PCQN and FATCOD scores. Conclusions Our study suggests that oncology nurses’ death anxiety can be divided into two categories: low death anxiety and high stress pain, and certain factors, such as being female, having a short work experience, and lacking palliative care-related training, increase the likelihood of death anxiety.

Abstract:Objective: To examine factors that are associated with the apprehension levels of oncology nurses toward hospice care. Factors examined in this study included demographics, nursing experience, education levels, title and post, personal experiences, and attitudes toward end-of-life care.Methods: Questionnaires were provided to nurses (n=201) from three first-tier hospitals in China. A quantitative scale, Professional End-of-life Care Attitude Scale (PEAS), was used to assess personal and professional apprehension levels toward hospice care. The PEAS was translated to Chinese with terms adapted to the cultural environment in China. Statistical analyses were performed to examine the relationships between the apprehension levels and various factors.Results: The total PEAS scores exhibited internal consistency and reliability, with a Cronbach alpha=0.897 and Pearson's r=0.9030. Of the 201 nurses, 184 provided a valid response (91.5%). Education level was significantly correlated with personal (P<0.01) and professional apprehension levels (P<0.05). Higher apprehension level was found in nurses with less education.Conclusion: The PEAS quantitative survey is useful for evaluating apprehension levels of nurses toward hospice care. Nurses with more education experienced less anxiety when providing care for terminally ill patients. The findings suggested that education programs on hospice care could be strengthened to help nurses cope with negative attitudes toward end-of-life care.

Abstract:The laboratory diagnostic possibilities for characterization of disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC) in dogs are reviewed. A DIC can be demonstrated by means of: 1. Simultaneous consumption of platelets, fibrinogen, coagulation factors and inhibitors of coagulation 2. Increased plasma levels of the specific reaction products fibrin monomers and fibrinopeptides 3. Secondary hyperfibrinolysis, especially an increase in plasma concentrations of fibrin(ogen) degradation products 4. Presence of schistocytes in the blood smear 5. Improvement in the coagulation values during an efficacious anticoagulant therapy 6. Indication of enhanced turnover and formation of microthrombi in different organs by radioisotopically detected coagulation components. Different principles of the laboratory diagnostic procedure in DIC are illustrated by the results of an animal experiment and clinical case reports. Concerning differential diagnosis among other things a deprivation- and dilution effect as well as a disturbance of synthesis have to be considered. One must especially bear in mind that a DIC may also be caused by different coagulator disturbances, e.g. of prothrombin complex synthesis. A DIC can mask such a defect in laboratory diagnostic findings, thereby complicating the diagnosis.
Relationships among perceived social support, mindful self-care, and resilience among a sample of nurses in three provinces in China: a cross-sectional study

Abstract:Objective: In this study, we aimed to determine the relationships among perceived social support, mindful self-care, and resilience in a sample of nurses in three provinces of China. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted in seven hospitals in Guangdong, Guizhou, and Henan provinces between August and October, 2023; the provinces are located in south, southwest, and central China. A total of 389 nurses were surveyed using a self-designed sociodemographic characteristics questionnaire and the Chinese versions of Multidimensional Scale of the Perceived Social Support, Brief-Mindful Self-Care Scale and the 10-item Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale (CD-RISC-10). Results: Of the 389 nurses, the majority were women (n = 365; 93.8%), aged 26-35 years (n = 244; 62.7%) and had bachelor's degrees (n = 337; 86.6%), had worked for 10-20 years (n = 136; 35%), with junior professional titles (n = 331; 85.1%), and had a monthly income in the range 3,001-6,000 yuan in CNY (n = 239; 61.4%). Nurses' resilience was measured using the CD-RISC-10, which ranges from 10 to 40 points. And average score of nurses' resilience was (23.94 ± 6.95). Multiple linear regression showed that scores for resilience were higher among nurses who had higher educational attainment (95% confidence interval: 0.568-3.024, p < 0.01), professional titles (95% confidence interval: 0.009-1.693, p < 0.05), scores of mindful self-care (95% confidence interval: 0.086-0.155, p < 0.01), and scores of perceived social support (95% confidence interval: 0.242-0.328, p < 0.01). Conclusion: Nurses with higher educational attainment and professional titles exhibited higher levels of resilience. Perceived social support and mindfulness self-care are significantly positively correlated with resilience of nurses. The findings of this study are beneficial to further our understanding of nurses' resilience. The identification of associated factors is conducive to providing more support for nurses who tend to have lower resilience earlier, and can provide useful information for research targeted intervention and support plans aimed at improving nurses' resilience in the future.

Abstract:Background: In the nursing profession, the concept of self-compassion has been associated with burnout. However, to date, the fine-grained relationships between different dimensions of self-compassion and symptoms of burnout have not been investigated. Network analysis provides a new avenue for exploring the fine-grained correlation paths of two related variables. Aim: To analyse the nuanced associations between self-compassion and burnout using network analysis in a large cohort of Chinese nurses. Design: A cross-sectional multi-centre survey design study. Methods: Participants were recruited from 30 hospitals in China between April and May 2022. These nurses completed the Chinese Maslach Burnout Inventory-General Survey (C-MBI-GS) and Self-Compassion Scale-Short Form (SCS-SF). Network analysis was performed to illustrate the complex nuanced relationships between self-compassion and burnout. Results: A total of 1467 nurses (age 32.2 [18-56] years; 89.9% were female) participated in the study. Nodes Mindfulness and Isolation had the highest centralities measured by strength. Nodes Mindfulness, reduced personal accomplishment and Isolation were the most negative and positive influential nodes that bridged self-compassion and burnout. There were no differences in terms of gender, age, professional title and job tenure in the structure or connectivity of the self-compassion and burnout network. Conclusion: Different components of self-compassion were specifically associated with different dimensions of burnout in registered nurses. Among these, Mindfulness, Isolation and Reduced personal accomplishment were the three most important components of self-compassion for burnout symptoms. Abstract:Background There is a growing recognition that medical staff members are exposed to job and life stressors that increase the risk of burnout. This study aimed to investigate the potential stressors among medical staff members working at a Cancer Center in Beijing and to explore the demographic, occupational, and societal features associated with burnout. Methods This was a cross-sectional study. The Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) survey was distributed to all medical staff members, along with an anonymous questionnaire to collect general information about demographic, occupational, and societal characteristics. The data were analyzed using T test, ANOVA, and multivariable linear regression. Results A total of 1096 of 1208 (91%) medical staff members completed the questionnaires, including 285 (26%) doctors and 572 (52%) nurses. The scores for emotional exhaustion (EE), depersonalization (DP), and personal accomplishment (PA) were 14.51 +/- 9.78, 5.78 +/- 5.59, and 35.07 +/- 10.43, respectively. Domicile, being a nurse, working overtime, and low self-rated QoL were predictors of EE; Domicile, being a researcher, low self-rated health, low self-rated QoL, and bad colleague relationships were predictors of DP; Age, being a doctor or a nurse, low self-rated health, and low self-rated interpersonal relationships were predictors of low PA. Conclusion Compared with the other occupations, doctors and nurses are more likely to experience burnout. Additionally, cultivating a better work environment, promoting the health and quality of life of staff, and improving rapport with colleagues may help to prevent burnout.

Abstract:Abstract Aim Moral courage among healthcare workers has been extensively studied. However, few studies have been conducted on oncology specialist nurses, who frequently encounter complex moral situations. This study aimed to describe the current situation regarding moral courage and explored its influence on oncology specialist nurses in China. Design This was an exploratory, descriptive study. Methods A convenience sample of 390 nurses was conducted from 15 hospitals in Sichuan Province, China, between March and May 2023. Participants were assessed using the Moral Distress Scale‐Revised, Nurses' Moral Courage Scale and the Moral Sensitivity Questionnaire. Results The results demonstrated that moral courage was negatively associated with moral distress, and positively associated with moral sensitivity. Having a master's degree or above, an intermediate title or senior title, medical ethics training, moral distress or moral sensitivity contributed to explaining 54.1% of the variance in moral courage. Conclusions Moral courage was associated with several factors. Developing clinical intervention strategies and effective teaching methods will be critical for improving moral courage. Abstract:Objective: The purpose of this study was to describe the current situation of moral distress and to explore its influencing factors among Chinese nurses. Methods: This is an exploratory, descriptive design study. A total of 465 clinical nurses from different departments in three Grade-III, Level-A hospitals in Jinan, Shandong Province, completed the questionnaires, including demographics questionnaire, Chinese version of Moral Distress Scale–Revised, and Job Diagnostic Survey. Ethical considerations: The study was approved by the university ethics board and the local health service director. Results: The total score of Moral Distress Scale–Revised was 36.01 ± 24.02 points. The mean frequency and intensity scores of moral distress were 1.13 ± 0.49 and 1.09 ± 0.58, respectively. The level of moral distress among Chinese clinical nurses was low, and the frequency and intensity of moral distress were on low to moderate level. The level of moral distress experienced by clinical nurses is associated with demographics features and job characteristics, including age, education degree, department, task significance, autonomy, and dealing with others. Conclusion: Our conclusion suggests that hospital and organizational administrations should attach much importance to the moral distress experienced by clinical nurses in China. Further studies should focus on interventions about how to reduce the levels of the frequency and intensity of moral distress among clinical nurses.

A study on different types of moral courage and coping styles of clinical nurses: based on potential profile analysis

Abstract:Background: In professional ethics-related events, there are various unpleasant and complex ethical issues that require strong moral courage. Our aim is to identify and describe the potential categories of moral courage among nurses and to clarify the coping styles of nurses under different categories. Method: A cross-sectional study was conducted using three data collection tools: a self-designed general information questionnaire, a Chinese version of the Moral Courage Scale, and a Trait Coping Style Questionnaire. Three hundred fourteen nurses from a tertiary hospital in Heilongjiang Province, China, were analysed using potential profile analysis, descriptive analysis, and Mann-Whitney U test data. Result: The latent profile analysis (LPA) results indicate that the two-profile model is the most suitable and supports the existence of two different moral courage profiles: the low moral courage group (60.51%) and the high moral courage group (39.49%), with a high relative entropy value (0.922). The results point to a good profile solution, and there are significant differences between the two profiles. The Mann-Whitney U-test results showed that the positive coping scores of the high moral courage group were significantly higher than those of the low moral courage group, and the negative coping scores of the high moral courage group were significantly lower than those of the low moral courage group. Conclusion: Our results reveal the heterogeneity of moral courage in the nurse sample and indicate that nurses in the high moral courage group tend to choose positive coping styles, while nurses in the low moral courage group are more likely to develop negative coping emotions. This provides important significance and reference value for nursing managers, who can propose customised management plans based on the types of moral courage of the nursing community and the coping styles under different categories.
Factors associated with clinical nurse’s mental health: a qualitative study applying the social ecological model

Abstract:Abstract Background The prevalence of burnout, depression, and anxiety among Chinese nurses was 34%, 55.5%, and 41.8% respectively. Mental health problems have significant impacts on their personal well-being, work performance, patient care quality, and the overall healthcare system. Mental health is influenced by factors at multiple levels and their interactions. Methods This was a descriptive qualitative study using phenomenological approach. We recruited a total of 48 nurses from a tertiary hospital in Changsha, Hunan Province, China. Data were collected through focus group interviews. Audio-recorded data were transcribed and inductively analysed. Results Four major themes with 13 subthemes were identified according to the social ecological model: (1) individual-level factors, including personality traits, sleep quality, workplace adaptability, and years of work experience; (2) interpersonal-level factors, encompassing interpersonal support and role conflict; (3) organization-level factors, such as organizational climate, organizational support, career plateau, and job control; and (4) social-level factors, which included compensation packages, social status, and legislative provision and policy. Conclusions Our study provides a nuanced understanding of the multifaceted factors influencing nurses’ mental health. Recognizing the interconnectedness of individual, interpersonal, organizational, and social elements is essential for developing targeted interventions and comprehensive strategies to promote and safeguard the mental well-being of nurses in clinical settings. The levels, prevalence and related factors of compassion fatigue among oncology nurses: a systematic review and meta-analysis

Abstract:Background: Compassion fatigue is described as the phenomenon of exhaustion and dysfunction in healthcare workers resulting from prolonged exposure to work-related stress and compassion stress. Oncology nurses are at high risk for compassion fatigue. Aims: Our study aims to estimate the levels, prevalence and related factors of compassion fatigue dimension in oncology nurses. Design: Systematic review and meta-analysis. Method: Ten electronic databases were conducted in the systematic review and meta-analysis. Time frame of the searches is from inception up to 31 January 2020. The research team independently conducted study selection, quality assessments, data extractions and analysis of all included studies. The means, standard deviations and prevalence of three dimensions of compassion fatigue were pooled using random-effects meta-analysis. The PRISMA guideline was used to report the systematic review and meta-analysis. PROSPERO registration number: CRD42020205521. Results: The systematic review included 21 studies, involving 6533 oncology nurses across 6 different countries. In our studies, the pooled mean scores of compassion satisfaction (CS), burnout (BO) and secondary traumatic stress (STS) were 35.47 (95% CI: 33.54-37.41), 24.94 (95% CI: 23.47-26.41) and 24.48 (95% CI: 23.36-25.60), respectively; the pooled prevalence of "low" rates of CS, "high" rates of BO and STS were 20% (CI 13%-28%), 22% (CI 18%-26%) and 22% (CI 17%-28%), respectively; furthermore, geographical regions (Asia) significantly affect the prevalence of compassion fatigue among oncology nurses. The compassion fatigue variables considered were demographic (age, marital status, education background, health condition and gender), work-related (job satisfaction, income satisfaction, years of working experience, professional title, position and work environment) and other variables (social support, coping strategy, self-compassion, professional cognition and psychological training). Conclusion: Oncology nurses were at "moderate" level of compassion satisfaction, burnout and secondary traumatic stress, and 22% of oncology nurses suffered from "high" risk of compassion fatigue. Hospital administrators should develop interventions to address compassion fatigue phenomenon, and enhance the mental health of oncology nurses and nursing care results. Relevance to clinical practice: Oncology unit warrants special attention, and oncology nurses are at high risk for compassion fatigue. However, the reported prevalence rates and oncology nurses with different characteristics vary considerably. The review provides a preliminary framework for nursing administrators to develop interventions to address compassion fatigue phenomenon, and enhance the psychological health of oncology nurses.
The Effect of Mindfulness and Emotional Regulation on Self-care Competence Among Cancer Patients Undergoing Chemotherapy

Abstract:Background: Many cancer patients require long-term self-care, both during and after treatment, and need to have self-care competence. Mindfulness and emotional regulation can enhance self-care competence among cancer patients. Objective: To examine the effect of mindfulness and emotional regulation on self-care competence among cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy. Methods: The data were completed by 106 cancer patients who were hospitalized at 3 long-term nursing hospitals. The instruments were the Mindfulness Scale, Korean Version of the Difficulties in Emotion Regulation Scale, and Self-As-Care Inventory Scale. Result: Self-care competence was significantly correlated with mindfulness among cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy. Also, the relationship between mindfulness and emotional regulation was significant. However, emotional regulation did not significantly affect self-care competence. Conclusions: It is important for cancer patients to focus on the present moment and maintain a balanced approach that keeps a distance from excessive worry. Development and application of interventions aimed at enhancing self-care competence among cancer patients should focus on a high level of mindfulness. Implications for practice: It is necessary to support cancer patients in taking time out for mindfulness practice through meditation programs and to help them seamlessly incorporate this habit into their daily lives. Nurses can effectively assist cancer patients by being well-versed in mindfulness techniques and providing adept guidance. Offering personalized mindfulness guidance based on the patient's condition and needs is also beneficial. By developing programs that incorporate feedback from both patients and healthcare providers, nurses can help patients continuously apply mindfulness practices.
Influencing factors associated with mental workload among nurses: A latent profile analysis

Abstract:Objective: This study aimed to examine the latent profile of nurses' mental workload (MWL) and explore the influencing factors via a person-centred approach. Methods: From March to July 2023, a quantitative cross-sectional study was carried out to investigate 526 Chinese clinical nurses from five tertiary hospitals in Sichuan Province, China, by using demographic information, the Perceived Social Support Scale, Simplified Coping Skill Questionnaire, and NASA-Task Load Index. Latent profile analyses were performed using Mplus 7.3 software. Pearson's chi-squared and logistic regression analysis was done using SPSS 24.0 software. Results: Three profiles of mental workload were identified based on the nurses' responses to the mental workload assessment, designated as "low MWL-high self-rated (n = 70, 13.3%)", "moderate MWL (n = 273, 51.9%)", and "high MWL-low self-rated (n = 183, 34.8%)". Based on the analysis of the three subtypes, nurses with working years < 5 years (χ 2 = 12.135, P < 0.05), no children (χ 2 = 16.182, P < 0.01), monthly income < 6000 (χ 2 = 55.231, P < 0.001), poor health status (χ 2 = 39.658, P < 0.001), no psychological training in the past year (χ2 = 56.329, P < 0.001) and suffering from workplace violence (χ 2 = 19.803, P < 0.001) were significantly associated with MWL. Moreover, the multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that negative coping styles (OR = 1.146, 95% CI: 1.060-1.238, P = 0.001) were accompanied by higher MWL while negatively associated with perceived social support (OR = 0.927, 95% CI: 0.900-0.955, P < 0.001). Conclusion: Our results showed that the MWL of nurses could be classified into three subtypes. Monthly income, health status, psychological training, workplace violence, negative coping style, and perceived social support were the factors influencing MWL. Managers can employ personalised intervention strategies according to the individual characteristics of different subgroups to reduce nurses' MWL.
Development of a SiPM based MR-compatible DOI-TOF-PET detector

Abstract:We developed a SiPM based MR-compatible DOI-TOF-PET detector. The detector consists of a scintillator block, a light guide, a 64-channels SiPM array, and front-end electronics (FEE) boards. The scintillator block consists of 2.9 mm × 2.9 mm × 20 mm LGSO crystals in a 16 × 16 array containing light reflectors arranged for four-layer DOI encoding by Anger logic calculation. The FEE including a full-custom mixed-signal ASIC was optimized for SiPM readout and TOF capability. 64-SiPM channels are segmented into four-blocks (16-ch/block) and a trigger signal is generated in each block for reducing degradation of timing resolution caused by dark counts. The ASIC consists of 16-readout channels, 16-DAC channels, an Anger type position encoder, a fast summing amplifier for timing signals, and a slow summing amplifier for energy signals. The readout channel is connected to AC-coupling to the anode of the SiPM and is composed of a fast voltage amplifier (>200 MHz), a slow voltage amplifier (shaper), and an offset controller. A two-dimensional position histogram, which was obtained under uniform irradiation from a 22Na point source, showed that all crystal positions, including DOI direction, were clearly identified and an energy resolution of 13.4 % was achieved. A timing histogram obtained from a quarter block (16-ch) of the developed detector in coincidence with a PMT based detector showed that a timing resolution of 495 ps is expected in the actual system. Based on the developed detectors, we are now developing an MR-compatible DOI-TOF-PET system.
Patterns of occupational commitment among nurses: a latent profile analysis

Abstract:Background: Occupational commitment (OC) is a multidimensional construct that predicts turnover intentions. The interindividual variability of nurses' OC merits further exploration. Therefore, this study aims to examine patterns of OC and its relationship with psychological empowerment and job crafting in nurses. Methods: A sample of 1,061 nurses was recruited from February 2022 to April 2022 by using a stratified four-stage cluster sampling procedure. A self-report survey included the Psychological Empowerment Scale, Job Crafting Scale, and Occupational Commitment Scale. Latent profile analysis (LPA) was used to examine the patterns of OC. Associations of the latent class membership with individual characteristics, psychological empowerment and job crafting were examined using multinomial logistic regression. Results: Three patterns of OC were identified: (1) "Low OC group" ( n = 224, 21.1%); (2) "Moderate OC group" ( n = 665, 62.7%); (3) "High OC group" ( n = 172, 16.2%). Nurses with higher education, fewer years of service, working in medicine, lower psychological empowerment and lower job crafting had a higher likelihood of belonging to Class 1 (Low OC group). In contrast, nurses working in emergency and with higher psychological empowerment and job crafting were more likely to belong to Class 3 (High OC group). Conclusion: The findings revealed the heterogeneity of occupational commitment among nurses in China and could guide the identification and early intervention of nurses with low level of occupational commitment.

Innovative behaviour profile and its associated factors among nurses in China: a cross-sectional study based on latent profile analysis

Abstract:Objectives This study aimed to investigate the current status of innovative behaviours among nurses in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) hospitals using latent profile analysis, identify potential subgroups and their population characteristics and explore factors associated with different categories. Design Cross-sectional study. Setting Six TCM hospitals in Anhui, China. Participants From 1 April 2023 to 31 July 2023, a total of 642 registered nurses with more than 1 year of work experience were recruited from the clinical departments of six TCM hospitals using a stratified cluster sampling method. 529 valid questionnaires were recovered, presenting a validity rate of 82.40%. Primary and secondary outcome measures Data were collected through online surveys containing a sociodemographic questionnaire, the Nurse Innovative Behaviour Scale, the Nurse Adversity Quotient Self-Evaluation Scale and the Conditions for Work Effectiveness Questionnaire-II. Latent profile analysis was performed to identify categorisation features of nurses' innovative behaviour in TCM hospitals. Multiple logistic regression analyses were used to investigate associated factors with profile membership. Results TCM hospital nurses' innovative behaviours were mainly classified into three types of latent profiles: low innovative behaviour (35.3%), moderate innovative behaviour (48.4%) and high innovative behaviour (16.3%). The results of multiple logistic regression analyses indicated that gender, monthly income, department, hospital level, position, nurse competency level, any training attended related to TCM knowledge and skills, adversity quotient level and structural empowerment level were the influencing factors for the potential profiles. Conclusions The innovative behaviour of nurses in TCM hospitals can be classified into three categories. Studying the heterogeneity of the innovative behaviour of nurses in TCM hospitals and its associated factors provides evidence for nursing administrators and educators to develop individualised interventions based on each latent characteristic to improve the innovative behaviour of nurses in TCM hospitals. It is of great significance to the heritage and innovative development of TCM nursing.
