Abstract:Hydrogel-based triboelectric nanogenerators (H-TENGs) are emerging as an appealing platform for the wearable electronics owing to their attractive mechanical flexibilities and conductive properties. However, time- and energy-consuming polymerization process of hydrogel and inevitable freezing of water within hydrogel networks at sub-zero temperature severely limit the practical applications of H-TENGs. To address the issues, we herein report a transparent, stretchable, anti-freezing, and self-healable TENG based on the ultrafast fabricated eutectogels for energy harvesting and self-powered sensors. The eutectogel electrode is initially constructed by a dynamic oxidation and coordination system composed of sulfonated lignin (SL) and Fe3+. After immersed in deep eutectic solvent (DES), the obtained eutectogels with high stretchability (~450%), transparency (93.5%) and ionic conductivity (8.70 mS cm−1) can be retained even in extreme temperature as low as − 80 °C. Notably, the eutectogel assembled TENGs (E-TENGs) show high and stable electrical output performances including open-circuit voltage of 105 V, short-circuit current of 0.5 µA, short-circuit charge of 10 nC, and power density up to 53 mW m−2. The E-TENG with a self-charging system can easily light up 20 light-emitting diodes (LEDs) and charge up capacitors to drive commercial electronics by harvesting energy. Moreover, as a proof of concept, the flexible E-TENG can serve as a self-powered biomechanical sensor to realize the real-time monitoring of various human motions, which provide a promising and versatile platform for environment adaptable hydrogel-based TENG with reliable output performance and self-healing ability.

Abstract:Triboelectric nanogenerator (TENG), a promising energy harvesting technique, has attracted intense research interests in recent years for its applicability in portable and wearable electronics. Self-powered sensors with high sensitivity based on TENG have been widely reported. However, for practical applications, the survivability of TENG in harsh working environments is a vital issue which must be addressed. Herein, we report a hydrophobic, icephobic, and ultrafast self-healing TENG with outstanding non-drying and non-freezing properties for energy harvesting and self-powered sensor. Due to the excellent environment resistance and conductive capability of organohydrogel, the TENG shows much better electrical output stability in a wide temperature range than conventional hydrogel-based TENG which suffers from being frozen at low temperature and dried at high temperature. Moreover, the ultrafast self-healing function enables the electrical output performance of the TENG rapidly restore without delay. The TENG in this work demonstrates an open-circuit voltage of 157 V, a short-circuit current of 16 µA, and a short-circuit charge of 29 nC. The maximum output power density reaches up to 710 mW m−2. This research might pave a new road for novel applications of TENG in harsh environments with reliable output performance and self-healing capability for practical applications.

Eutectogel-based self-powered wearable sensor for health monitoring in harsh environments

Abstract:Triboelectric nanogenerators (TENG) have emerged as a highly promising energy harvesting technology, attracting significant attention in recent years for their broad applications. Gel-based TENGs, with superior stretchability and sensitivity, have been widely reported as wearable sensors. However, the traditional hydrogel-based TENGs suffer from freezing at low temperatures and drying at high temperatures, resulting in malfunctions. In this study, we introduce an anti-freezing eutectogel, which uses a deep eutectic solvent (DES), to improve the stability and electrical conductivity of TENGs in harsh environmental conditions. The eutectogel-based TENG (E-TENG) produces an open-circuit voltage of 776 V, a short-circuit current of 1.54 μA, and a maximum peak power of 1.1 mW. Moreover, the E-TENG exhibits exceptional mechanical properties with an elongation at a break of 476% under tension. Importantly, it maintains impressive performances across a wide temperature range from −18 to 60 °C, with conductivities of 2.15 S/m at −10 °C and 1.75 S/m at −18 °C. Based on the excellent weight stability of the E-TENG sensor, motion sensing can be achieved in the air, and even underwater. Finally, the versatility of the E-TENG can serve as a wearable sensor, by integrating it with Bluetooth technology. The self-powered E-TENG can monitor various human motion signals in realtime and send the health signals directly to mobile phones. This research paves a new road for the applications of TENGs in harsh environments, offering wireless flexible sensors with real-time health signal monitoring capabilities.

Abstract:Herein, a supramolecular network with a synergistic hydrogen bond and metal coordination bond is proposed for the construction of self‐healing triboelectric materials with high strength and toughness. The desired high performance can be achieved by adjusting the molar ratio of the metal to the ligand. The development of self‐healing materials provides a new opportunity and challenge for advancing triboelectric nanogenerators (TENGs). However, the low strength and low toughness of self‐healing triboelectric materials often result in the deformation or breakage of TENG under high mechanical loads, thereby limiting their potential applications. Herein, a new strategy for fabricating self‐healing triboelectric materials is reported, which introduces cross‐linking networks with hydrogen bonds and metal coordination bonds. The desired high performance can be achieved by simply adjusting the molar ratio of the metal to the ligand. When the molar ratio is 1:2, the tensile strength, toughness, and elongation at break of the material reached 13.7 MPa, 76.9 MJ m−3, and 1321%, respectively. Furthermore, its self‐healing efficiency can reach 74% at 70 °C in 6 h. Working in contact‐separation mode, the electrical output can reach 164 V, 18.2 μA, 57.5 nC, with a maximum power density of 2.54 W m−2. Notably, even if it is sheared, the electrical output performances of TENG can be completely recovered to the original state. In addition, the developed TENG exhibits excellent output stability over 10 000 contact separation cycles. This study presents a promising approach for the development of stretchable smart generators.

Abstract:A stretchable, adhesive, and self‐healing single‐electrode TENG with a multifunctional hydrogel‐elastomer double layer is developed. The proposed TENG devices can power small electronics with a power management circuit and function as telecommunication touch panels via Morse code. Thus, this study presents a promising approach for advancing the flexible power supplies and self‐powered sensors that can be applied to wearable devices. Triboelectric nanogenerators (TENGs) are promising candidates replacing conventional batteries in wearable devices, owing to their self‐powering properties. Although TENGs can convert mechanical energy into electrical energy, excessive mechanical stresses can degrade their performance. Moreover, conformal adhesion to skin is required to improve its performance in wearable devices. Here, a stretchable, adhesive, and self‐healing single‐electrode TENG with a multifunctional hydrogel‐elastomer double layer is developed. Carbon nanotubes (CNTs)‐doped hydrogel is used as the electrode. Subsequently, the electrode is covered with an Ecoflex elastomer that acted as a triboelectrification layer. The soft tissue‐like properties of the hydrogel allow conformal adhesion to nonplanar skin, whereas the dynamic polymer network of the hydrogel endows toughness and ability to self‐heal (within 5 min) against external damage. The TENG demonstrates an output voltage and current peak at 180 V and 0.8 μA. Moreover, it can generate a maximum power peak at 37.8 mW m−2, which is sufficient to power small electronics like stopwatches and light‐emitting diodes, with a power management circuit. The proposed TENG devices can function as telecommunication touch panels via Morse code. Thus, this study presents a promising approach for advancing the flexible power supplies and self‐powered sensors that can be applied to wearable devices.

Abstract:Wearable electronics significantly impact health monitoring, clinical care, and human-machine interfaces. Eutectogels, which utilize deep eutectic solvents (DES) address the drawbacks of hydrogels, such as weight loss and poor temperature tolerance, as well as the high costs and toxicities associated with ionogels. Despite these advances, most eutectogels serve only as sensors or epidermal electrodes and rarely fulfill both functions simultaneously. In this study, we present a multifunctional eutectogel designed to function in both ways. Incorporating natural cotton cellulose nanofibers as nanofillers reinforced the tensile strength of the resultant eutectogel by 7.47 times compared to that of the pure eutectogel, reaching 4.93 MPa. This eutectogel exhibited high ionic conductivity (1.22 S m −1 ), strong adhesion (1562.2 kPa to iron), self-healing ability (80.37% strain recovery and 80.53% tensile strength recovery), a broad temperature tolerance (−40 to 80 °C), and antibacterial properties. It demonstrates high sensitivity for the real-time strain detection of human activities and accurately captures electrophysiological signals, enabling the control of a small car. This versatile eutectogel has excellent potential for use in flexible wearable electronics.

Abstract:Triboelectric nanogenerators (TENGs) have shown huge application potential in the fields of micro-nano energy harvesting and multifunctional sensing. However, the damage of triboelectric material is one of the challenges for their practical applications. Herein, we fabricated a flexible TENG employing self-healing hydrogel and fluorinated ethylene propylene film as triboelectric materials for mechanical energy harvesting and pressure monitoring. The prepared hydrogel not only has excellent flexibility, transparency, and self-healing property but also exhibits good mechanical property without plastic deformation and damage under a large stretchable strain of 200%. The output electric signals of TENGs are as high as 33.0 V and 3 μA under a contact frequency of 0.40 Hz and a pressure of 2.9 N, respectively, which can charge a capacitor of 0.22 μF to 24.3 V within 300 s. Note that the voltage retention rate of TENGs after self-healing is up to 88.0%. Moreover, hydrogel-based TENGs can act as a wearable pressure sensor for monitoring human motion, exhibiting a high sensitivity of 105.9 mV/N or 1.73 nA/N under a contact frequency of 0.40 Hz. This research provides a reference roadmap for designing TENGs and self-powered pressure sensors with flexibility, self-healing, and robustness.

Abstract:A self‐healing, environment tolerant, intrinsically conductive, and recyclable eutectogel with multiple responses is developed via one‐step solar‐initiated polymerization of deep eutectic solvents and ionic liquids, which is applied in self‐powered sensors and human–computer interfaces. Eutectogels are emerging as an appealing soft conductor for self‐powered sensing and the next generation of flexible human–computer interactive devices owing to their inherent mechanical elasticity and high ionic conductivity. However, it still remains a challenge to simultaneously achieve multi‐functional and multi‐response integrations through a facile and sustainable approach. Herein, a self‐healing, environment tolerant, intrinsically conductive, and recyclable eutectogel with multiple responses is developed via one‐step solar‐initiated polymerization of deep eutectic solvents (DESs) and ionic liquids (ILs). Abundant hydrogen bonds and ion‐dipole interactions impart eutectogels with high mechanical strength (8.8 MPa), ultra‐stretchability (>1100%), strong self‐adhesion (≈12 MPa), recyclability, and autonomously self‐healing ability. Furthermore, the intrinsically conductive eutectogels with appealing versatile sensations on strain, temperature, and humidity can serve as wearable sensors for wireless motion recognition and human–computer interaction control. More importantly, the eutectogel‐assembled single‐electrode triboelectric nanogenerator (TENG) exhibits extreme environment‐tolerant and fast self‐healable properties that contribute to maintaining excellent and stable electrical outputs in a wide work temperature range (approximately −40–60 °C), which appear to be promising in self‐powered flexible electronics with high environmental adaptability.

Abstract:The increasing potential of wearable electronics has been motivating the development of self-powered devices to overcome the restriction imposed by conventional power supply. Herein, a kind of highly electronegative and conducing material of MXene nanosheet has been innovatively integrated with poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) for electrospinning nanofibers film to fabricate flexible all-electrospun triboelectric nanogenerator (TENG). Silk fibroin (SF) was chosen for electrospinning nanofibers film to serve as electron donor for TENG with great triboelectricity and biocompatible nature. The MXene-based all-electrospun nanogenerator shows excellent stability and durability as well as extraordinary electrical performance, which supports an instantaneously maximum peak power density of 1087.6 mW/m(2) as the load resistance is 5.0 M Omega. Moreover, beyond harvesting electrical power, the fabricated TENG was utilized for real-time monitoring various types of body motion. Lastly, we used the developed TENG to power electrowetting on dielectric (EWOD) chip to actuate droplet transport. Considering the excellent triboelectric performance, ease of large-scale manufacturing, and environmental friendliness, this MXene-based all-electrospun TENG provides a promising solution for developing practical, flexible, and self-powered electronic devices.

Abstract:Hydrogel based triboelectric nanogenerators (H-TENGs) are deemed as one of most promising flexible energy harvesting and self-powered systems due to its multifunctionality, but the poor mechanical properties of hydrogel electrode bring a major risk of shortening the service life of H-TENGs in case of huge physical impact. Herein, a durable conductive hydrogel electrode with breakage-resistant capacity is developed utilizing the Hofmeister effect on starch polymers through solvent-exchange strategy. Owing to bundled starch chains within hydrogel, the breakage-resistant hydrogel electrode possesses excellent mechanical reliability, including outstanding modulus, fracture energy, anti-puncture capacity and long-term stability. Furthermore, the reliable hydrogel electrode endows triboelectric nanogenerator with good electrical output performances and superb damage immunity, prolonging its service life under accidental physical impact. More significantly, this fabricated triboelectric nanogenerator shows great potential in high-impact application. This investigation offers a versatile and effective way to design next generation hydrogel-based triboelectric nanogenerator with superior damage immunity and long-service life.
Room-Temperature Self-Repairable Yet Mechanically Robust Elastomeric Triboelectric Nanogenerators Enabled by a Fast-Reversible Dual-Dynamic Network

Abstract:Self-healable polymers hold great promise for durable triboelectric nanogenerators (TENGs) in sustainable energy harvesting. Incorporating dynamic bonds into polymers can enhance the self-healing, whereas mechanical properties are usually sacrificed for rapid network rearrangement. Here, we present a straightforward strategy to fabricate room-temperature self-repairable yet mechanically robust TENGs based on dual-dynamic networks of disulfide-containing poly(urethane-urea) (S-PUU) elastomers. By incorporating aromatic disulfides featuring electron-donating groups (amines) into the hard segments of polyurethane, we establish dual-dynamic networks consisting of reversible disulfide (S–S) and hydrogen bonds. The coexistence of these double dynamic bond exchanges, facilitated by the activating effect of amine groups, triggers the fast reversibility of the S-PUU networks with relaxation times as short as ∼7.8 s at room temperature. While achieving rapid self-repairability, S-PUUs simultaneously exhibit significant improvement in mechanical strength and toughness with effective energy dissipation, arising from the synergy among interchain cross-linking, rigid diphenyl inclusion, and the constant breaking–regrouping of reversible bonds. The rapid rearrangement of dual-dynamic networks enables TENGs to achieve a high self-healing efficiency of up to 96% at room temperature, without external heating or catalysts. In addition, the outstanding mechanical robustness and recoverability endow the device with a remarkably durable electricity-generating performance. Moreover, the versatile nanogenerators with favorable stretchability allow effective mechanical energy harvesting and self-powered stimulus detection in both pressing and stretching modes. This work would inspire the fabrication of TENGs combining mild-condition self-repairability and excellent mechanical performance for durable and sustainable energy harvesting.

Abstract:Triboelectric nanogenerators (TENGs) have become a significant player in the expanding wearable electronics arena due to their high output voltage, diverse material compatibility, and straightforward design. For optimal performance in wearables, TENGs need specific characteristics like air permeability, durability, washability, and self-healing capability. In a novel approach, we utilized polybutadiene-based urethane (PBU), equipped with Diels-Alder networks, as a triboelectric material. This choice lends our design washability, self-healing capabilities, and considerable mechanical strength. PBU's abundant amine groups are key to enhancing its triboelectric properties, facilitating electron transfer between materials and contributing to high charge density. We also used polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) electrospun fibers as the negative layer, chosen for their electron-attracting ability and flexibility. These components were electrospun onto a conductive fabric coated with copper-nickel to optimize the contact area and increase wearability. Our device, measuring 2500 mm 2 , generated approximately 113 V and a rectified current of around 8 μA at 0.98 kPa external pressure and a 5 Hz frequency. Impressively, it maintained performance despite thousands of wash cycles and various deformities, demonstrating unique self-healing abilities following severe surface damage. The TENG has demonstrated its real-world potential by powering up to 150 LEDs, efficiently operating calculators, thermometers, hygrometers, and even functioning as a warning device through normal walking motion. Moreover, its air permeability allows for electricity generation from the wearer's breath when attached to a regular mask, as evidenced by successful LED lighting by human normal breathing.

Abstract:Triboelectric nanogenerators (TENGs) as promising energy harvesting devices have gained increasing attention. However, the fabrication of TENG simultaneously meets the requirements of green start feedstock, flexible, stretchable, and environmentally friendly remains challenging. Herein, the hydroxyethyl cellulose macromonomer (HECM) simultaneously bearing acrylate and hydroxyl groups was first synthesized and used as a crosslinker to prepare the chemically and physically dual-crosslinked cellulose composite hydrogel for an electrode material of stretchable TENG. Meanwhile, the in-situ polymerization of pyrrole endowed the hydrogel with satisfactory conductivity of 0.40 S/m. More impressively, the synergies of the cellulose rigid skeleton and the construction of the dual-crosslinking network significantly improved the mechanical toughness, and the hydrogel exhibited excellent self-strengthening through cyclic compression mechanical training, the self-strengthening efficiency reached 124.7 % after 10 compression cycles. Given these features, the hydrogel was used as wearable strain sensors with extremely high sensitivity (GF = 3.95) for real-time monitoring human motions. Additionally, the hydrogel showed practical applications in stretchable H-TENG for converting mechanical energy into electric energy to light LEDs and power a digital watch, and in self-powered wearable sensors to distinguish human motions and English letters. This work provided a promising strategy for fabricating sustainable, eco-friendly energy harvesting and self-powered electronic devices.

Abstract:A triple‐network conductive hydrogel (MPP‐hydrogel) is fabricated by combining 2D Ti3C2Tx nanosheets with two kinds of 1D polymer chains via hydrogen bonds. The MPP‐hydrogel shows mechanical ultra‐robustness, super‐elasticity, and excellent fatigue resistance. The output of the MPP‐hydrogel electrode triboelectric nanogenerator is enhanced due to the dynamic balance of the double electric layers. Flexibility/wearable electronics such as strain/pressure sensors in human–machine interactions (HMI) are highly developed nowadays. However, challenges remain because of the lack of flexibility, fatigue resistance, and versatility, leading to mechanical damage to device materials during practical applications. In this work, a triple‐network conductive hydrogel is fabricated by combining 2D Ti3C2Tx nanosheets with two kinds of 1D polymer chains, polyacrylamide, and polyvinyl alcohol. The Ti3C2Tx nanosheets act as the crosslinkers, which combine the two polymer chains of PAM and PVA via hydrogen bonds. Such a unique structure endows the hydrogel (MPP‐hydrogel) with merits such as mechanical ultra‐robust, super‐elasticity, and excellent fatigue resistance. More importantly, the introduced Ti3C2Tx nanosheets not only enhance the hydrogel's conductivity but help form double electric layers (DELs) between the MXene nanosheets and the free water molecules inside the MPP‐hydrogel. When the MPP‐hydrogel is used as the electrode of the triboelectric nanogenerator (MPP‐TENG), due to the dynamic balance of the DELs under the initial potential difference generated from the contact electrification as the driving force, an enhanced electrical output of the TENG is generated. Moreover, flexible strain/pressure sensors for tiny and low‐frequency human motion detection are achieved. This work demonstrates a promising flexible electronic material for e‐skin and HMI.

Transparent and Stretchable High-Output Triboelectric Nanogenerator for High-Efficiency Self-Charging Energy Storage Systems

Abstract:Rapid development in flexible and stretchable electronics poses the challenge for stretchable and multifunctional power devices. Here, we firstly report a fully-transparent and stretchable triboelectric nanogenerator (EC-TENG) based on edible grade silica gel (EGSG) and crystal mud (CM) to enable both biomechanical energy harvesting and human posture sensing. And We also invert a novel Na-ion battery based on FeSe2, which can realize the efficient storage of micro-electric energy. Under the hand with nitrile glove pressing frequency of 5 Hz, the shortcircuit current (I-sc), open-circuit voltage (V-oc), and transfer charge of EC-TENG can reach 25.96 mu A, 1400 V, and 150 nC, respectively. The maximum output power of EC-TENG can reach 7.84 mW with a match load of 40 M Omega. The EC-TENG device exhibits excellent stretchability and deformability under extreme conditions, including foldability, stretchability, distortion, and washability. Significantly, the EC-TENG can generate electricity by deforming itself and under non-contact conditions after friction with other triboelectric materials. From the experimental results, the EC-TENG can charge the Na-ion battery to 3 V in 13 h, and the electrical energy stored in the Na-ion battery can drive the temperature/humidity sensor. This design achieves the integration of power generation devices, sensor devices, and energy storage devices, and it will promote the development of all-in-one self-powered flexible wearable electronics.
Textile-based triboelectric nanogenerators with high-performance via optimized functional elastomer composited tribomaterials as wearable power source

Abstract:Wearable power sources with high performance are attracting intensive attention, owing to their great potential in new-generation wearable electronics. Herein, we proposed a composited fabric with flexible functional elastomer layers (<a class="__cf_email__" href="/cdn-cgi/l/email-protection">[email protected]</a>) and employed it as a negative tribomaterial in triboelectric nanogenerators (TENGs). The <a class="__cf_email__" href="/cdn-cgi/l/email-protection">[email protected]</a> consists of a low-temperature vulcanized silicone (LTV) electrification layer, CNTs/Ecoflex nanocomposite layer, super-soft Ecoflex layer and conductive fabric substrate, which play critical roles on the output enhancement of <a class="__cf_email__" href="/cdn-cgi/l/email-protection">[email protected]</a> TENG (abbreviated as <a class="__cf_email__" href="/cdn-cgi/l/email-protection">[email protected]</a>). The effect of the thickness of the Ecoflex layer and CNTs content in the nanocomposite layer on the electrical performance of <a class="__cf_email__" href="/cdn-cgi/l/email-protection">[email protected]</a> were systematically investigated. The <a class="__cf_email__" href="/cdn-cgi/l/email-protection">[email protected]</a> with 180 μm thick Ecoflex layer and 1.6 wt% CNTs content was realized as an optimal sample to obtain optimum output signals. The high outputs (∼490 V, ∼43 μA, ∼70 nC, 1.6 mW/cm2) were obtained from the optimal <a class="__cf_email__" href="/cdn-cgi/l/email-protection">[email protected]</a> (2.5 × 2.5 cm2) under small force (∼16 N) and low frequency (∼1.5 Hz). The flexible <a class="__cf_email__" href="/cdn-cgi/l/email-protection">[email protected]</a> can power for wearable electronics by harvesting biomechanical energy and operate in dual-electrodes mode (<a class="__cf_email__" href="/cdn-cgi/l/email-protection">[email protected]</a>) or single-electrode mode (<a class="__cf_email__" href="/cdn-cgi/l/email-protection">[email protected]</a>). Especially, the power glove made of <a class="__cf_email__" href="/cdn-cgi/l/email-protection">[email protected]</a> can contact with various daily-used objects for human motion energy harvesting. The durability and washability of <a class="__cf_email__" href="/cdn-cgi/l/email-protection">[email protected]</a> were also performed, exhibiting excellent stability even under harsh and complex conditions. All these merits of the <a class="__cf_email__" href="/cdn-cgi/l/email-protection">[email protected]</a> not only provide a promising strategy for exploring high-performance wearable power source but also show great potential for applications in portable electronics and electronic textiles.

Abstract:According to the development of human-oriented technology, triboelectric nanogenerators (TENGs) present great potential as a power source for self-powered sensors and wearable devices. Advanced next-generation TENGs require not only durability and stable production of electrical energy but also the ability to autonomously self-heal after mechanical damage and biodegradability. Here we report a self-healable, biodegradable, and high performance TENG using engineered ionic polyurethane (IPU). We utilized polycaprolactone-based PU to provide biodegradable properties and introduced imidazolium ionic liquids diol (IL) to facilitate self-healing through ion-dipole interaction. Imidazolium ionic liquid diol also improves triboelectric properties and improves capacitance by forming an electric double layer (EDL), contributing to improved output. These results suggest a high-performance TENG design methodology that can be applied to next-generation soft electronic devices.

Abstract:In the realm of wearable electronics, the development of materials that can endure and adapt to the human experience while harvesting energy is paramount. Herein, we introduce a novel self-healable thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) for a triboelectric nanogenerator (TENG) that harmonizes self-healing efficacy with mechanical durability. Utilizing a unique electrospinning technique, we engineered TPU fibers that not only exhibit remarkable elasticity—withstanding over 600% strain—but also possess the capability to self-repair at just 80 oC. For the negative triboelectric layers, beside choosing fluorinated ethylene propylene (FEP) as the main electron-withdrawing surface, the introduction of molybdenmum disulfide (MoS 2 ) as a charge-trapping layer exploits its two-dimensional structure to enhance both the stretchability and electrical output of the TENG. Our study demonstrates the TENG's proficiency in energy generation, producing up to 1000 V from vigorous motion and maintaining a consistent output after mechanical stress and chemical exposure. Moreover, the device showcases excellent motion-sensing capabilities and can power up to 200 (light-emitting diodes) LEDs, underscoring its efficiency and adaptability. This robust TENG sets a precedent for self-healing materials in sustainable energy devices and marks a substantial advance towards their integration into everyday wearables. The culmination of these features highlights the potential mass application of TENGs, paving the way for their ubiquitous adoption in the near future.

Abstract:UNLABELLED This study compares the ability of 201TI and 99mTc-MIBI to detect and assess tumor response to chemotherapy in malignant and benign bone and soft-tissue lesions. METHODS Forty-two patients with various bone and soft-tissue pathologies (29 malignant and 13 benign lesions) were studied with 201TI and 99mTc-MIBI. Planar 201TI scintigraphy was performed 15 min after injection of 111 MBq of 201TI. Within 1 wk of the 201TI study, radionuclide angiography with 600-740 MBq of 99mTc-MIBI was performed and planar imaging was done 15 min later. RESULTS In visual analysis, 31 of 42 patients showed similar uptake of both tracers, 8 showed more intense uptake of 99mTc-MIBI than 201TI and 3 showed more intense uptake of 201TI than 99mTc-MIBI. In quantitative analysis, similar 201TI and 99mTc-MIBI uptake ratios were obtained (1.96 +/- 1.25 versus 1.96 +/- 1.02, respectively; p = ns). The perfusion index derived from 99mTc-MIBI radionuclide angiography was higher than 99mTc-MIBI uptake ratio (2.33 +/- 1.23 versus 1.96 +/- 1.02, respectively; p < 0.005), but correlated well with 99mTc-MIBI uptake ratio (r = 0.75). In 11 patients with malignant tumors, 201TI and 99mTc-MIBI scintigraphy was repeated after chemotherapy and the uptake of both tracers was significantly suppressed in patients with complete response confirmed by histological evaluation. In patients with complete response (n = 3), the uptake ratio of both tracers was reduced by more than 50%, whereas, less than 20% reduction of uptake ratio was observed in patients with nonresponse (n = 6). CONCLUSION The ability of 99mTc-MIBI to detect malignant and benign bone and soft-tissue lesions and to assess tumor response to chemotherapy was comparable to that of 201TI. In addition, blood flow could be assessed by radionuclide angiography with 99mTc-MIBI. Technetium-99m-MIBI is a promising radiopharmaceutical for the evaluation of bone and soft-tissue lesions.

Abstract:Since triboelectrification results from materials in physical contact, the durability of triboelectric nanogenerators (TENGs) must be improved. However, it still poses challenges to continuously repair surface abrasion even when self-healable materials are introduced. In this study, an ultrastretchable TENG (US-TENG) that simultaneously heal the fracture and abrasion at room temperature is fabricated. By incorporating hydrogen bonds and dynamic metal-ligand coordination into polydimethylsiloxane chains, the synthesized elastomers possess ultrahigh stretchability (10 000%) and remarkable self-healing property (100% efficiency) at room temperature. Working in contact-separation mode, the electrical outputs with 2 × 2 cm2 area can reach 140 V, 40 nC, 1.5 µA, respectively. Besides, the US-TENG shows a stretchability of 1800% with high electrical outputs. Even if it is stretched to break or scratched to wear out, it can recover its electrical outputs in 20 min and 2 h at room temperature, respectively. Finally, the application of the US-TENG as flexible power sources and self-powered pressure sensors is demonstrated. This designed strategy with ultrahigh stretchability and excellent self-healing properties can meet the wide applications of flexible and wearable electronics for long-term use.
