Abstract:Background: Diabetic foot ulcer is considered as a major health problem that predisposes to limb amputation. Among the different methods to achieve ulcer healing, platelet-rich plasma (PRP) gel is gaining popularity. It is thought to stimulate wound closure by providing essential growth factors for healing. This study aims to evaluate the value of autologous PRP gel in the treatment of diabetic ulcers. Methods: The study included 56 patients of both sex from 18 to 80 years, with clean chronic diabetic foot ulcers divided into 2 equal groups. The first group was treated by antiseptic ointment dressing, and the second group was treated by autologous platelet gel. PRP together with thrombin were prepared by centrifugation at each dressing session. Thrombin and calcium chloride were used to activate the PRP. The formed platelet gel was applied to the wound twice weekly. Results: Statically significant increase in healing rate was found in the PRP-treated group, and complete healing was achieved in 86% of them in comparison to 68% of the control group. In the study group, rate of healing per week was greater during the first 8 weeks and starts to decline afterward. The use of platelet gel showed a lower rate of wound infection. Conclusions: Autologous platelet gel is more effective than the local antiseptic dressing in terms of healing rate and prevention of infection in clean diabetic ulcers.

Abstract:Objective Recombinant human platelet-derived growth factor (rhPDGF) is used topically in the treatment of diabetic lower-extremity ulcers. There have been few meta-analyses of the efficacy of rhPDGF in this treatment context. The aim of this study was to perform an updated systematic review and meta-analysis to assess the clinical efficacy of rhPDGF in the treatment of diabetic lower-extremity ulcers. Methods We searched the MEDLINE, Cochrane Library, EMBASE and Web of Knowledge databases up to April 30, 2014. Studies were identified and selected, and data were extracted by two independent reviewers. The primary efficacy outcome was complete healing rate. Adverse events were also assessed. The studies were evaluated for quality and publication bias. Results A total of 6 randomized controlled trials including 992 patients were selected from 173 identified studies. The studies compared rhPDGF treatment in the context of standard of care (SOC) to placebo or SOC alone. In the absence of study heterogeneity, a fixed-effects model was performed, and the combined odds ratio (OR) indicated a significantly greater complete healing rate in patients treated with rhPDGF compared to placebo or SOC alone. The ORs ranged from 0.58 to 2.77, with a combined OR of 1.53 (95% CI = 1.14 to 2.04, p = 0.004). A sensitivity analysis (leave-one-out method) indicated good study reliability, and a funnel plot with Egger test showed no publication bias. Conclusion These results indicate that rhPDGF is efficacious in the treatment of diabetic lower-extremity ulcers.
Efficacy of Platelet-Rich Plasma in the Treatment of Diabetic Foot Ulcers: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

Abstract:Background: The probiological healing effect of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) during tissue repair has recently gathered much attention. This study aimed to conduct a systematic review and meta-analysis of patients with diabetic foot ulcer (DFU) receiving PRP or conventional treatment to evaluate their efficacy. Methods: PubMed, Excerpta Medica Database (EMBASE), Cochrane Library, and China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) databases were comprehensively searched by 2 independent reviewers following PRISMA guidelines for the inclusion of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) comparing PRP with conventional treatments for DFUs. The primary measurements of healing rate and healing time, the methodological quality and extracted data were assessed using Review Manager 5.3. Statistical significance was set at P < 0.05. Results: A total of 10 RCTs involving 550 patients were included in this study, PRP was observed to significantly improve the healing rate (risk ratio [RR] = 1.38, 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.05-1.82, P = 0.02) and shorten the healing time (mean difference [MD] = -23.23, 95% CI -45.97 to -0.49, P = 0.05) of patients with DFU when compared to the conventional treatment. Conclusions: Compared to conventional treatment, PRP effectively promoted the healing of patients with DFU by evidently improving the healing rate and healing time.

Abstract:Background: Diabetic foot ulcers continue to pose a significant global issue despite the advances made in the management of diabetes. It causes major foot complications if they are not addressed properly. While several advancements have taken place in wound care management, platelet-rich plasma (PRP) promises to offer new hope in its management, aiding in cellular and tissue regeneration. Hence the present study was carried out to determine the safety and effectiveness of PRP in the management of diabetic foot ulcers in comparison to conventional dressing.Methods: This prospective study was focused on 50 diabetic foot ulcers, carried out in a surgical unit of Onsite Hospital, Chennai, Tamil Nadu from November 2018 to November 2019. Patients were divided into two groups group A received conventional ordinary dressing (n=25, 50%) and group B received PRP dressing (n=25, 50%). The mean follow up period was 6 weeks.Results: The present study observed that participants receiving PRP showed better wound contraction of 33.74% than the group receiving only conventional treatment with a mean wound contraction of was 12.82%. In addition, the duration required for wound contraction in the PRP group was short (mean value 4.488 cm) compared to the conventional dressing group (mean value 6.188 cm). The PRP group was found to be more effective in wound healing with fewer complications, less infection, exudates and pain.Conclusions: PRP is a powerful tool for the treatment of chronic wounds and very promising for diabetic foot wounds and it enables healing and reduces amputation rates, infection and exudates.

Abstract:Introduction: According to research by the World Health Organisation (WHO), there are 347 million diabetics worldwide, and by 2030, it will overtake smoking as the seventh leading cause of death and diabetic people have a lifetime risk of up to 25% for developing a foot ulcer. Many novel techniques are emerging to fasten wound healing, including cellular therapies using PlateletRich Plasma (PRP) and collagen-based dressings. Aim: To compare the efficacy between instillation of autologous PRP and conventional dressing using normal saline/povidone iodine in Diabetic Foot Ulcers (DFU). Materials and Methods: This randomised control clinical study was conducted in the Department of General Surgery at SRM Medical College Hospital and Research Centre, Kattankulathur, Tamil Nadu, India. The duration of the study was 18 months, from April 2021- September 2022. A total of 174 DFU patients were included in the study, meeting inclusion and exclusion criteria’s. Patients were divided into case (n=87) and control group (n=87). For six weeks, the case group got autologous PRP, while the control groups regularly had standard dressings. Wound areas were measured using ruler scale weekly and percentage of healing was monitored for 12 weeks. The data were analysed with International Business Machines (IBM)- Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 21.0. Results: In a group of 87 each, 174 patients with chronic non healing DFUs were randomly assigned to the study group (PRP) or the control group (conventional dressing method) throughout the 9 months study. Age ranged from less than 40 years to more than 61 years in the present study of 174 patients, with the age group between 51 and 60 years having the highest percentage of patients (50.6%), followed by the age group over 61 years (23.6%). About 12 weeks after the treatment, it was discovered that, the case group had a 86% reduction in wound area of 86.51±15.71 mm, whereas, the control group had a 61% reduction in wound area of 65.47±30.18 mm and 65.1% of patients from the case group showed wound healing, while 42.7% of patients from the control group showed wound healing. These findings were found to be statistically significant (p-value <0.001). Conclusion: The use of PRP led to a higher rate of wound healing in less time when compared to traditional wound care in the therapy of chronic DFUs, as shown in the present study. For chronic DFUs, PRP was able to speed up healing, making it a potentially viable and promising treatment

Abstract:Background: Diabetes mellitus is one of the common metabolic disorders that have high morbidity. Diabetic patients are prone to developing chronic nonhealing foot ulcers, a leading cause of limb amputations. Autologous platelet-rich plasma (PRP) contains proteins rich in multiple growth factors (GFs) used in treating chronic diabetic foot ulcers and helps in early tissue repair and regeneration. This study aimed to evaluate the safety and enhanced efficacy of autologous PRP, in the healing rate of chronic diabetic foot ulcers. Methodology: This was a randomized control open clinical study of 18-month duration involving 50 patients in each group. Patients admitted with type 2 diabetes mellitus–with hemoglobin A1c >6.5 and chronic healing long-standing ulcer of >1-month duration were included. Patients with severe anemia and cardiac illness, osteomyelitis were excluded as they are independent risk factors that affect ulcer healing. Admitted patients were randomly allocated to receive either PRP or normal saline dressings using computer-generated random numbers. Simple debridement was done to remove necrotic tissue on the day of admission before the first application of PRP or normal saline dressing. PRP was prepared after centrifugation of autologous whole blood (10 ml). In the study group, prepared and stored PRP (1–2 ml) was applied topically in drops using a syringe to cover the floor of the ulcer and covered with a sterile transparent dressing. In the control group, normal saline was soaked in the gauze and kept over the surface of the ulcer covered with a transparent dressing. The patient will receive dressings with PRP or saline according to the group they were placed in. Progress was monitored, and the dressing was changed every 3 rd day for up to 21 days. The wound area measurement was done by measuring the surface area of the wound with the help of a transparent sheet and graph. A transparent sheet was placed on the ulcer, and the total area of the ulcer was marked and recorded. The marked transparent sheet was placed over a graph sheet, and the outline was plotted. The area was calculated and recorded in cm 2 . The growth and healing of the wound are considered when a part of the wound shows an increase in granulation and a decrease in slough. Periodic photographs were taken on day 3, day 7, day 14, and day 21 and assessed. Two groups were compared for wound size reduction and duration of healing. The collected data were entered in Excel 2010 and measured using mean and standard deviation for continuous variables and in percentage for dichotomous and categorical variables. Two groups were compared using an independent t -test for continuous variables and a Chi-square test for dichotomous and categorical variables. Results: In our study on 100 patients, 50 in each group with ulcers of Wagner's Grade 1 and Grade 2, the appearance of granulation and size reduction rate is delayed with normal saline dressing (44/50 patients [88%]). In the autologous PRP dressing group, the rate of granulation from the 7 th day of dressing was greater (50/50, patients [100%]) and ulcer size reduction is statistically significant (Chi-square value 6.38, P < 0.001) when compared to normal saline. Conclusions: Autologous PRP used in chronic diabetic foot ulcer dressing enhances healing and shows a significant reduction in wound size over a shorter duration when compared with saline dressing. Autologous PRP is safe, efficient, and simple to prepare, providing necessary GFs to improve healing without adverse events.

Abstract:Background: With the increasing incidence of diabetes, diabetic foot ulcer(DFU) has become one of the most common and serious complications in people with diabetes. DFU is associated with significant morbidity and mortality, and can also result in significant economic, social and public health burdens. Due to peripheral neuropathy, peripheral vascular disease, hyperglycemic environment, inflammatory disorders and other factors, the healing of DFU is impaired or delayed, resulting in the formation of diabetic chronic refractory ulcer. Because of these pathological abnormalities in DFU, it may be difficult to promote wound healing with conventional therapies or antibiotics, whereas platelet-rich plasma(PRP) can promote wound healing by releasing various bioactive molecules stored in platelets, making it more promising than traditional antibiotics. Therefore, the purpose of this systematic review is to summarize and analyze the efficacy of PRP in the treatment of DFU. Methods: A literature search was undertaken in PubMed, CNKI, EMB-ASE, the Cochrane Library, the WanFang Database and the WeiPu Database by computer. Included controlled studies evaluating the efficacy of PRP in the treatment of diabetic foot ulcers. The data extraction and assessment are on the basis of PRISMA. Results: Twenty studies were evaluated, and nineteen measures for the evaluation of the efficacy of PRP in DFU treatment were introduced by eliminating relevant duplicate measures. The efficacy measures that were repeated in various studies mainly included the rate of complete ulcer healing, the percentage of ulcer area reduction, the time required for ulcer healing, wound complications (including infection rate, amputation rate, and degree of amputation), the rate of ulcer recurrence, and the cost and duration of hospitalization for DFU, as well as subsequent survival and quality of life scores. One of the most important indicators were healing rate, ulcer area reduction and healing time. The meta-analysis found that PRP was significantly improve the healing rate(OR = 4.37, 95% CI 3.02-6.33, P < 0.001) and shorten the healing time(MD = -3.21, 95% CI -3.83 to -2.59,P < 0.001)of patients with DFU when compared to the conventional treatment, but there was no significant difference in reducing the of ulcer area(MD = 5.67, 95% CI -0.77 to 12.11,P =0.08>0.05 ). Conclusion: The application of PRP to DFU can improve ulcer healing rate and shorten ulcer healing time, but more clinical data are needed to clarify some efficacy measures. At the same time, a standardized preparation process for PRP is essential.
Factors Affecting Platelet-Rich Plasma Success in Patients With Diabetic Foot Ulcer

Abstract:Introduction Diabetic foot ulcers (DFU) are one of the most common complications of diabetes mellitus (DM). The use of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) in the treatment of DFU has been increasing in recent years. In the current study, we aimed to evaluate the factors affecting the success of PRP in the management of DFU. Methods The present study was planned in a prospective manner, and we enrolled patients with DFU in the study. Patients' characteristics, DFU properties, and treatment outcomes were recorded. Patients with DFU were classified into two groups according to PRP success: healed DFU patients in Group 1 and non-healed DFU patients in Group 2. Groups were compared according to patient characteristics and treatment outcomes, and multivariate regression analysis was performed to clarify factors that predicted PRP success. Results In total, 182 patients were enrolled in the study, and DFU in 141 (77.5%) patients healed with PRP treatment. The mean body mass index (BMI) was significantly higher in the non-healed patients (p= 0.005). The smoking rate was 58.5% in the non-healed group and 39.7% in the healed group (p= 0.016). The duration of DM (17.9 years vs. 22.5 years, p= 0.003) was significantly longer, and patients with glomerular filtration rate (GFR) < 60 (44.0% vs. 63.4, p= 0.028) were significantly more common in the non-healed group. Multivariate regression analysis demonstrated that BMI ≥30 kg/m2 and duration of DM ≥20 years were predictive factors for PRP failure in patients with DFU (p= 0.019 and p= 0.005). Smoking and GFR <60 were significantly associated with PRP failure (p= 0.040 and p= 0.044). Conclusion In our study, it was found that PRP was an effective treatment that improved DFU in 141 out of 182 patients. Moreover, the present study demonstrated for the first time that higher BMI, longer duration of DM, smoking, and lower GFR were significantly related to PRP failure in patients with DFU.

Abstract:This study systematically evaluates the efficacy of autologous platelet‐rich plasma (PRP) combined with negative pressure sealing drainage (NPSD) in the treatment of diabetic foot ulcers (DFU). A comprehensive computerized search was conducted in PubMed, Embase, Google Scholar, Cochrane Library, China National Knowledge Infrastructure, and Wanfang databases for randomized controlled trials (RCTs), from database inception to November 2023, on the treatment of DFU using autologous PRP combined with NPSD. Abstract:Diabetic foot ulcer is a major complication of diabetes mellitus affecting 15% of all patients with diabetes mellitus. Diabetic neuropathy and peripheral vascular disease are 2 major factors causing diabetic foot ulcers. Due to deficiency of oxygen and nutrients, epithelial cells at wound cannot express essential factors for healing such as VEGF and PDGF resulting in chronic non-healing ulcer. To date, the outcome of management of diabetic foot ulcer is poor. In almost therapies, management of diabetic foot ulcer relates to debridement of the wound, revascularization, off-loading of the ulcer, antibacterial actions, stimulating granulation, epidermisation and angiogenesis. As the therapeutic role of PRP in wound healing has not been clearly addressed previously and as there are not many randomized clinical trials addressing this issue, an attempt has been made in this study to know the therapeutic efficacy of PRP in wound healing while comparing it with the conventional dressing (Normal saline).

Abstract:The aim of this research is to explore the therapeutic efficacy of platelet‐rich plasma (PRP) on the cutaneous ulceration of diabetes mellitus (DM). From the beginning of the database until January 2024, we looked through several databases to obtain randomised, controlled PRP studies to treat the wound healing of DM in adult patients. The Cochrane Collaboration's Risk‐Of‐Bias Instrument was used to evaluate the risk of bias in randomised, controlled studies. Funnel plots, sensitivity analyses and Egger regression tests were employed to determine the reliability and effectiveness of the meta‐analyses. Depending on the degree of heterogeneity, a fixed or random effect model has been used. The statistical significance was determined to be below 0.05. Altogether 281 trials were collected from the database and entered into Endnote Software for screening, and 15 trials were analysed. Development and validation of a self-administered occupational health history questionnaire.

Abstract:Although the diagnosis of work-related illness relies heavily on the occupational history, there is no validated or widely used questionnaire available to obtain this information. We designed an occupational health history questionnaire (OHHQ) in order to assess (1) its usefulness in obtaining exposure and work histories and (2) its ability to discriminate among workers with different degrees of hazardous exposure. A self-administered OHHQ was completed by 100 consecutive patients known to have a high probability of work-related disease (group 1) and by 55 consecutive workers at low risk for occupational toxic exposures (group 2). Group 1 was found to have a significantly higher number of self-assessed overall exposures (SAESs) than group 2 (p less than .001). Within group 1, scores of SAESs were highly correlated with an assessment by an industrial hygienist of the degree of hazardous exposure (p less than .001). The OHHQ can be feasibly self-administered; it has discriminant validity (correctly identifying groups of workers with high and low hazardous exposures) and convergent validity (correlating with an independent assessment of hazardous exposures).

Abstract:Background: Non-healing ulcers are a major health problem worldwide and have great impact at personal, professional and social levels, with high cost in terms of human and material resources. Recalcitrant non-healing ulcers are inevitable and detrimental to the lower limb and are a major cause of non-traumatic lower limb amputations. Application of autologous Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) has been a major breakthrough for the treatment of non-healing and diabetic foot ulcers, as it is an easy and cost-effective method, and provides the necessary growth factors that enhance tissue healing. PRP is a conglomeration of thrombocytes, cytokines and various growth factors which are secreted by α-granules of platelets that augment the rate of natural healing process with decrease in time. The purpose of this case series was to evaluate the safety and efficacy of autologous platelet rich plasma for the treatment of chronic non-healing ulcers on the lower extremity. Methods: Autologous PRP was prepared from whole blood utilizing a rapid, intraoperative point-of-care system that works on the principle of density gradient centrifugation. Twenty Four (24) patients with non-healing ulcers of different etiologies, who met the inclusion criteria, were treated with single dose of subcutaneous PRP injections along with topical application of PRP gel under compassionate use. Results: The mean age of the treated patients was 62.5 ± 13.53 years and they were followed-up for a period of 24 weeks. All the patients showed signs of wound healing with reduction in wound size, and the mean time duration to ulcer healing was 8.2 weeks. Also, an average five fold increase in the platelet concentrate was observed in the final PRP product obtained using the rapid point-of-care device, and the average platelet dose administered to the patients was 70.10 × 108. Conclusion: This case series has demonstrated the potential safety and efficacy of autologous platelet rich plasma for the treatment of chronic non-healing ulcers. Abstract:Physical measurements of the transfer function from a free−field sound source to a microphone in the subject’s ear canal indicate that there are two independent localization cues generated by the pinna. For sound sources in the vertical median plane, there is a systematic change in the frequency response as a function of elevation angle, and a disparity between the left−ear and right−ear responses which also changes systematically with elevation angle. Independent psychophysical measurements indicate that these pinna cues are detectable by subjects, and both are used by subjects in vertical localization tasks.Subject Classification: 65.62, 65.75.

Abstract:Diabetic foot ulcers (DFUs), debilitating complication of diabetes, often lead to amputation even in the presence of current advanced treatment for DFUs. Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) containing growth factors and other proteins has been suggested as a potent therapeutic in promoting DFU healing. PRP is safe and effective in improving the DFU healing rate, decreasing healing time, and making chronic wounds viable for treatment. Though PRP is safe and effective in promoting DFU healing, there are inconsistencies in clinical outcomes. These varying results may be due to various concentrations of PRP being used. Most studies report dosage and timing, but none have reported the concentration of various factors. This is important, as the concentration of factors in PRP can vary significantly with each preparation and may directly impact the healing outcome. This critical review discusses the limiting factors and issues related to PRP therapy and future directives. A systematic search of PubMed and Google Scholar was performed with keywords including diabetic foot ulcer, ulcer healing, platelet-rich plasma, DFU treatment, and PRP limitations and efficacy, alone or in combination, to search the related articles. The articles describing DFU and the use of PRP in DFU healing were included. The existing literature suggests that PRP is effective and safe for promoting DFU healing, but larger clinical trials are needed to improve clinical outcomes. There is a need to consider multiple factors including the role of epigenetics, lifestyle modification, and the percentage composition of each constituent in PRP.

Comparison of Allogeneic Platelet-rich Plasma With Autologous Platelet-rich Plasma for the Treatment of Diabetic Lower Extremity Ulcers

Abstract:Autologous platelet-rich plasma (au-PRP) has been widely used for the management of refractory chronic wounds. However, patients with diabetic lower extremity ulcers (DLEUs) usually have complicated clinical conditions, and the utility of au-PRP is limited. In this study, the feasibility, effectiveness, and safety of allogeneic platelet-rich plasma (al-PRP) and au-PRP were investigated and compared in the treatment of DLEUs. A total of 75 in-patients with type 2 diabetes were assigned to the al-PRP group ( n = 20), au-PRP group ( n = 25), and conventional wound therapeutic (CWT) group ( n = 30) matched by the ankle brachial index and ulcer size from December 2015 to August 2018. Based on metabolic and nutritional regulation, infective control, and topical wound management, al-PRP, au-PRP, and CWT were administered to each group, respectively. Evaluation of treatment outcomes was determined by the parameters of wound healing and adverse reactions. The therapeutic times and average concentration of platelets were not significantly different between the au-PRP and al-PRP groups. The wound healing times of the al-PRP group (56.9 ± 29.22 d) and au-PRP group (55.6 ± 33.8 d) were significantly shorter than those of the CWT group (88.0 ± 43.4 d) ( P 0.05), the trend of the healing rate in the al-PRP group (16.77 ± 12.85 mm 2 ), au-PRP group (14.31 ± 18.28 mm 2 ), and CWT group (9.90 ± 8.51 mm 2 ) gradually decreased. No obvious adverse reactions (fever, edema, pain, skin itching, rash, or other sensory abnormalities) were observed in either the au-PRP or the al-PRP groups. Both al-PRP and au-PRP could effectively and safely promote wound healing in patients with DLEUs. Alternatively, al-PRP could be used for DLEUs as an off-the-shelf solution when au-PRP is limited. Abstract:Objective: To show an approach to profit of the main components of platelet rich plasma (PRP), i.e. the signaling proteins, and the fibrin scaffold and discuss the intervention within TIME (Tissue, Inflammation/Infection, Moisture, Edges) framework. Methods: Two patients with diabetic foot ulcers are treated with both liquid and gelled PRP, and the rationale for the PRP intervention is described herein. Autologous blood is withdrawn and, PRP is separated by single spinning and activated with CaCl2 prior to application. PRP is injected in an activated liquid form, i.e. freshly activated, before coagulation, within the wound edges. In fibrotic tissue PRP is introduced performing a needling procedure. In addition, PRP, clotted ex-vivo, is applied in the wound bed as a primary dressing. Results: Both patients responded positively to PRP intervention. Case 1 healed after five weekly PRP applications. Case 2 healed after eight weekly PRP applications. Patient satisfaction was high in both cases. The procedure had no complications, is well tolerated and easy to perform in any medical setting. Conclusion: PRP intervention is safe and if associated with correct tissue debridement and preparation of the host tissue it may help to decrease the burden of diabetic foot ulcers. Carefully designed randomized clinical trials with special attention to the PRP procedure are needed to assess the efficacy of these interventions.

However, several diabetes management guidelines for older adults do not mention the occurrence of DFUs. Nowadays, Autologous Platelet-Rich Gel (APG) is being used for treating diabetic ulcers. APG is an innovative platelet-derived product with many advantages, such as being low-cost, easy to produce, and readily available materials. Additionally, it does not lead to any rejection reaction. Objective: This study aims to assess the safety and efficacy of APG as a novel treatment of DFU compared with standard treatment in older adult patients. Methods: Randomized Controlled Trials (RCTs) were searched using PubMed, Cochrane, Google Scholar, Wiley, and PlosOne. The keywords have been arranged using the Boolean operator, including autologous platelet-rich gel, DFU, and elderly. The data was screened by inclusion and exclusion criteria. The final inclusion study was analyzed and synthesized by tabulation, clusterization, contextual and thematic approach, and assessed for risk of bias using ROB 2.0. Meta-analysis was conducted by using Review Manager 5.4 and the Mantel Haenszel method. Results: Eight RCTs with 598 patients were eligible for the present analysis. Compared with standard care/conventional treatment, APG could significantly improve the healing wound in patients with diabetic foot ulcers (Relative risk (RR) 1.32, 95% confidence interval (CI) 1.22– 1.57, p < 0.0001), shortened the healing time (Mean difference [MD] − 16.97 days (95% CI: − 32.64 to − 1.29; p < 0.00001), shortened the length of hospital stay (MD= − 20.11, 95% CI: − 38.02, − 2.20; p = 0.03), and amputation rate (MD= 0.36, 95% CI: 0.16, 0.84; p = 0.02). Conclusion: APG treatment can better treat DFU in terms of duration of healing, wound healing, length of hospital stay, and amputation prevention than the standard treatment. This condition often arises due to inadequate glycemic control, underlying neuropathy, peripheral vascular disease, or insufficient foot care. 4 Additional factors contributing to the risk of DFU include vision impairment, irregular gait patterns, decreased mobility, and other medical conditions. Furthermore, the likelihood of significant amputations rises as individuals grow older in conjunction with the greater occurrence of these contributing factors.
