Abstract:In recent studies, vibration-controlled transient elastography (FibroScan) has been reported as an alternative noninvasive approach for measuring liver steatosis and fibrosis. The present study aimed to investigate the feasibility of FibroScan controlled attenuation parameter (CAP) and liver stiffness measurement (LSM) in the detection of increased arterial stiffness in asymptomatic populations in China. A retrospective cohort recruiting 4747 asymptomatic patients with no underlying causes of liver disease and having FibroScan and brachial-ankle pulse wave velocity (baPWV) during wellness check-up was covered. Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) was defined as a CAP >= 238 dB/m. NAFLD with significant fibrosis was defined as an LSM >= 7.3 kPa in the presence of NAFLD. Increased arterial stiffness was determined as a BaPWV >= 1.4m/second. Among the 4747 study participants, 1596 subjects (33.6%) suffered from increased arterial stiffness. The prevalence of increased arterial stiffness progressively increased across CAP quartiles and LSM quartiles in NAFLD (23.5%, 30.8%, 38.3%, 43.7%, P < .001 and 33.1%, 36.8%, 40.4%, 48.2%, P < .001, respectively). After conventional cardiovascular risk factors were adjusted (age, sex, overweight, diabetes mellitus, hypertension, hypercholesterolemia, and current smoking habits), multivariate logistic regression analysis revealed that CAP (odd ratio [OR] = 1.005; 95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.003-1.006; P < .001), NAFLD (OR = 1.427; 95% CI: 1.212-1.681; P < .001), LSM in NAFLD (OR = 1.073; 95% CI: 1.023-1.125; P = .003), and significant fibrosis in NAFLD (OR = 1.480; 95% CI: 1.090-2.010; P = .012) were independently associated with increased arterial stiffness. Furthermore, in a multivariate logistic regression analysis, OR (95% CI) for the maximal vs. the minimal quartile of CAP was 1.602 (1.268-2.024), and that of LSM in NAFLD was 1.362 (1.034-1.792) after adjustment for the above-mentioned risk factors. Notably, NAFLD and significant fibrosis in NAFLD were significantly correlated only with increased arterial stiffness in subjects without hypertension or diabetes mellitus after adjustment for the above-mentioned risk factors. CAP-defined NAFLD and LSM-defined significant fibrosis in NAFLD showed significant and independent relationships with increased arterial stiffness even after adjustment for conventional cardiovascular risk factors, which can be conducive to stratifying relative risk of subjects having undergone screening assessment for cardiovascular disease.

Abstract:Background and Aims. Alcoholic liver disease (ALD) and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) have become common chronic liver diseases. Recent evidence has shown the value of transient elastography (TE) in the context of ALD/NAFLD. The aim of this study is to investigate the accuracy of TE for diagnosing steatosis and fibrosis in ALD/NAFLD patients. Methods. We retrieved relevant English studies from the databases of PubMed, Embase, the Web of Science, and the Cochrane Library through March 31(st) 2019. We included studies regarding the diagnosis or staging of steatosis or fibrosis by using controlled attenuation parameter (CAP) or liver stiffness measurement (LSM) measured by TE in patients with ALD or NAFLD. The reference standard of all included studies was liver biopsy. A random-effects model was applied. Statistical analyses were performed using STATA. Results. A total of 62 articles were included and analyzed in our meta-analysis. In patients with ALD/NAFLD, the pooled results revealed that the sensitivity and specificity of CAP were 0.84, 0.83, and 0.78 and 0.83, 0.71, and 0.62 for steatosis grades >= S1, >= S2, and =S3, respectively. The sensitivity and specificity of LSM for identifying fibrosis grades >= F1, >= F2, >= F3, and =F4 were 0.77, 0.77, 0.83, and 0.91 and 0.80, 0.82, 0.84, and 0.86, respectively. Conclusion. In patients with ALD/NAFLD, CAP was feasible for identifying and screening steatosis, and LSM was accurate for diagnosing fibrosis, especially severe fibrosis and cirrhosis.

However, this has never been compared with another quantitative method, such as magnetic resonance imaging-based proton density fat fraction, among the Chinese health checkup population. Methods A multicenter prospective study was conducted with Chinese individuals undergoing regular health checkups. Steatosis grading by magnetic resonance imaging-based proton density fat fraction was used as the reference to evaluate the diagnostic performance of CAP. Results A total of 173 individuals were included with mean age of 45 +/- 11 years and body mass index of 25.8 +/- 4.0 kg/m(2). A linear correlation was found between CAP and log(10)-transformed magnetic resonance imaging-based proton density fat fraction results (Pearson's coefficient 0.772, P < 0.001). The areas under the receiver operating characteristic curve for distinguishing >= S1 and >= S2 steatosis were 0.88 (95% confidence interval 0.83-0.93) and 0.89 (95% confidence interval 0.83-0.95), respectively. When optimized for >= 90% sensitivity, the CAP cut-off for staging >= S1 steatosis was 244 dB/m. CAP could classify patients with >= S1 steatosis with similar performance as an ultrasound examination. Conclusions As a non-invasive and quantitative method, CAP is highly adapted for population screening at a community level. With the integration of liver stiffness and CAP results in risk stratification scores for non-alcoholic steatohepatitis, vibration-controlled transient elastography can be useful in regular health checkups.

Abstract:Objective:To evaluate the quantitative diagnostic value of controlled attenuation parameter (CAP) in health checkup groups with asymptomatic nonalcoholic fatty liver disease.Methods:A multicenter prospective study was conducted among Chinese individuals undergoing regular health checkups; a total of 173 subjects were investigated. Human body indexes such as height, weight, and blood pressure were measured, and complete blood count, liver function, blood lipid, FibroScan, and MRI-PDFF examinations were performed. Correlation between MRI-PDFF and CAP was described using Spearman′s and Pearson′s coefficients. Diagnostic efficacy of the CAP was evaluated using the subject work characteristic curve and the area under this curve, and the optimal cut-off value was determined according to the Youden index.Results:The average age and body mass index of the subjects were 45.0±10.5 years and 25.8±4.0 kg/m 2, respectively. A linear correlation was found between CAP and lg transformed magnetic resonance imaging-based proton density fat fraction results (Pearson′s coefficient 0.772, P<0.001). When optimized for ≥90% sensitivity, the CAP cutoff for staging ≥S1 steatosis was 244 dB/m. Conclusions:The CAP result was significantly correlated with the liver fat fraction measured by MRI-PDFF, and capable of differentiating steatosis grades. CAP can be used as a tool for screening fatty liver in health checkup groups.

Abstract:Purpose of review Cataract surgery has evolved significantly during the last few years. The introduction of aspheric, presbyopic correcting and toric intraocular lenses have shifted the emphasis of cataract surgery from just treating patients' functional symptoms to optimizing the refractive outcome of the procedure. Recent findings Studies emphasizing patient satisfaction and refractive visual outcomes have shifted the focus of cataract surgery to a more patient-centered approach. Refractive surgical technologies such as limbal relaxing incisions, laser-assisted in-situ keratomileusis, photorefractive keratectomy and conductive keratoplasty can be used in conjunction with traditional cataract surgical techniques. The wide array of intraocular lens choices has broadened the scope of refractive cataract surgery providing surgeons and patients with more options in determining refractive outcomes. Summary Cataract surgery has expanded into the realm of refractive surgery and there is a new emphasis on patient-centered care and an optimization of the refractive outcome of the procedure. This trend will continue as newer presbyopic correcting intraocular lenses become available.

Abstract:Liver stiffness measurement (LSM) frequently overestimates the severity of liver fibrosis in nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). Controlled attenuation parameter (CAP) is a new parameter provided by the same machine used for LSM and associated with both steatosis and body mass index, the two factors mostly affecting LSM performance in NAFLD. We aimed to determine whether prediction of liver fibrosis by LSM in NAFLD patients is affected by CAP values. Patients (n = 324) were assessed by clinical and histological (Kleiner score) features. LSM and CAP were performed using the M probe. CAP values were grouped by tertiles (lower 132-298, middle 299-338, higher 339-400 dB/m). Among patients with F0-F2 fibrosis, mean LSM values, expressed in kilopascals, increased according to CAP tertiles (6.8 versus 8.6 versus 9.4, P = 0.001), and along this line the area under the curve of LSM for the diagnosis of F3-F4 fibrosis was progressively reduced from lower to middle and further to higher CAP tertiles (0.915, 0.848-0.982; 0.830, 0.753-0.908; 0.806, 0.723-0.890). As a consequence, in subjects with F0-F2 fibrosis, the rates of false-positive LSM results for F3-F4 fibrosis increased according to CAP tertiles (7.2% in lower versus 16.6% in middle versus 18.1% in higher). Consistent with this, a decisional flowchart for predicting fibrosis was suggested by combining both LSM and CAP values.CONCLUSIONS: In patients with NAFLD, CAP values should always be taken into account in order to avoid overestimations of liver fibrosis assessed by transient elastography. Validation of Controlled Attenuation Parameter Measured by FibroScan as a Novel Surrogate Marker for the Evaluation of Metabolic Derangement

Abstract:Background/objectives: Renaming non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) to metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD) suggests a shift of emphasis to the accompanying metabolic disturbance. Controlled attenuation parameter (CAP) measured by FibroScan has been shown to be correlated with hepatic steatosis. We aim to validate its usefulness as a novel surrogate marker for evaluating metabolic derangement. Subjects/methods: Volunteers were recruited from medical staff at our hospital to undergo CAP measurements. Anthropometrics, CAP, and laboratory assessments for metabolic profiles and insulin resistance were collected. CAP < 238 dB/m denoted no hepatic steatosis, 238 ≤ CAP ≤ 259 dB/m denoted mild, 260 ≤ CAP ≤ 291 dB/m denoted moderate, and CAP > 291 dB/m denoted severe hepatic steatosis according to previous reports. Results: Data of 824 participants were included for analysis. The age was 53.2 ± 15.4 years, body mass index (BMI) was 23.6 ± 3.1 kg/m2, 24.4% were male subjects, and 22.0% met the criteria for metabolic syndrome (MetS). Taking the group with CAP < 238 dB/m as control, subjects with mild, moderate, and severe hepatic steatosis had increased odds of MetS by 3.51-, 3.32-, and 5.12-fold, respectively, after adjusting for multiple confounders (p = 0.020). Metabolic profiles, insulin resistance, and presence of MetS were similar between normal-weight subjects with CAP ≥ 238 dB/m and overweight subjects with CAP < 238 dB/m. Even in subjects with no MetS components, those with CAP ≥ 238 dB/m had higher BMI, waist circumferences, uric acid, triglyceride, white blood cell count, and insulin resistance, whereas lower adiponectin and estimated glomerular filtration rate. Waist circumference [OR 1.11 (1.04, 1.18), p = 0.001] and homeostatic model assessment of insulin resistance (HOMA-IR) [OR 2.39 (1.18, 4.83), p = 0.016] were predictive of hepatic steatosis according to CAP ≥ 238 dB/m. Conclusions: CAP is a convenient, sensitive, and non-invasive indicator for metabolic derangement. Prospective studies are needed to further validate its usefulness as a surrogate marker for the transition of metabolic status over time.

Abstract:Objective: To investigate longitudinal changes in the liver stiffness measurement (LSM) in the general adult population without known liver disease and to describe its association with metabolic risk factors, with a special focus on subjects with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and dysglycemia. Material and Methods: A longitudinal adult population-based cohort study was conducted in Catalonia. LSM was measured by transient elastography (TE) at baseline and follow-up (median: 4.2 years). Subgroup with NAFLD and dysglycemia were analyzed. Moderate-to-advanced liver fibrosis was defined as LSM ≥8.0 kPa and LSM ≥9.2 kPa respectively. Results: Among 1.478 subjects evaluated, the cumulative incidence of LSM ≥8.0 kPa and ≥9.2 kPa at follow-up was 2.8% and 1.9%, respectively. This incidence was higher in NAFLD (7.1% for LSM ≥8.0 kPa and 5% for LSM ≥9.2 kPa) and dysglycemia (6.2% for LSM ≥8.0 kPa and 4.7% for LSM ≥9.2 kPa) subgroups. In the global cohort, the multivariate analyses showed that dysglycemia, abdominal obesity and atherogenic dyslipidemia were significantly associated with progression to moderate-to-advanced liver fibrosis. Female sex was negatively associated. In subjects with NAFLD, abdominal obesity and dysglycemia were associated with changes in LSM to ≥8.0 kPa and ≥9.2 kPa at follow-up. A decline in LSM value to <8 kPa was observed in 64% of those subjects with a baseline LSM ≥8.0 kPa. Conclusions: In this population study, the presence of abdominal obesity and dysglycemia were the main risk metabolic factors associated with moderate-to-advanced liver fibrosis development over time in general populations as well as in subjects with NAFLD.

Abstract:Objectives We investigated the current prevalence of metabolic dysfunction‐associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) and fibrosis/cirrhosis and identified at‐risk populations for MASLD and MASLD‐related fibrosis among US adolescents and young adults in the United States. Methods Utilizing the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey 2017−2020, the prevalence of MASLD and fibrosis/cirrhosis was assessed via controlled attenuation parameter (CAP) score and liver stiffness measurements by transient elastography in participants aged 12−29 years with at least one cardiometabolic criteria and absence of other chronic liver disease. Multivariable logistic regression was performed to determine predictors of MASLD and MASLD‐related fibrosis. Results The overall prevalence of MASLD was 23.9% (95% CI: 21.3−26.5 for CAP ≥ 263 dB/m) and 17.3% (95% CI: 14.7−20.0 for ≥285 dB/m), respectively. The prevalence of fibrosis and cirrhosis in MASLD was 11.0% and 3.1%, respectively. When categorized by age, the prevalence of MASLD varied from 16.8% (of which 6.2% [fibrosis], 1.8% [cirrhosis]) in early and middle adolescents (12−17 years), to 25.5% (11.8% [fibrosis], 4.8% [cirrhosis]) in late adolescents and young adults (18−24 years), and to 30.4% (of which 13.2% [fibrosis] and 2.1% [cirrhosis]) in older young adults (25−29 years). The independent predictors for MASLD included male sex, Hispanic, non‐Hispanic Asian, body mass index, and low HDL‐cholesterol. In contrast, diabetes and body mass index were associated with an increased risk of fibrosis in individuals with MASLD. Conclusions The prevalence of MASLD and related fibrosis in adolescents and young adults in the United States has reached a significant level, with a substantial proportion of cirrhosis.

Abstract:Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) (previously called nonalcoholic fatty liver disease, NAFLD) is associated with cardiometabolic risk factors and chronic kidney disease (CKD). However, evidence is lacking regarding whether the severity of fibrosis is affected by these risk factors and diseases and to what degree. We aimed to determine the correlation between these factors and vibration-controlled transient elastography-determined liver stiffness measurements (LSMs) and controlled attenuation parameter (CAP) values in a sample of the US population. Data from the 2017–2018 cycle of the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey were pooled. The association between LSM and cardiometabolic risk factors and CKD was assessed using generalized linear or logistic regression analyses. In multivariate regression analyses, CAP and BMI were adjusted as confounders. Of 3647 participants, 2079 (57.1%) had NAFLD/MASLD [weighted prevalence 54.8%; 95% confidence interval (CI) 51.8–57.9%]; the weighted prevalence of significant fibrosis (LSM ≥ 7.9 kPa) was 9.7% (95% CI 8.2–11.3%). Log LSM was associated with higher levels of homeostatic model assessment of insulin resistance ( β = 2.19; P = 0.017), hepatic steatosis (CAP > 248 dB/m) [odds ratio (OR) 3.66; 95% CI 2.22–6.02], type 2 diabetes (OR 2.69; 95% CI 1.72–4.20), and CKD (OR 1.70; 95% CI 1.24–2.34). These correlations did not change notably after adjustments were made for waist circumference, CAP, and BMI. LSM and CAP, although influenced by waist circumference and BMI, are good indicators of hepatic fibrosis and steatosis. LSM is associated with insulin resistance, diabetes, and CKD independent of hepatic steatosis and obesity.

Abstract:In 2019, the ADA recommended screening for NASH and liver fibrosis in patients with T2DM and steatosis or elevated ALT. However, the true prevalence of liver fibrosis in unselected patients with T2DM in the United States remains unknown. To this end, we screened patients with T2DM attending either internal medicine (IM), family medicine (FM) or endocrinology (E) clinics unaware of having NAFLD. Screening for fibrosis (1o outcome) was done by vibration-controlled transient elastography (VCTE) and steatosis by controlled attenuation parameter (CAP) (2o outcome). We also measured diagnostic panels of fibrosis (APRI and FIB-4). A liver biopsy was done based on pre-established imaging/panel parameters if suggestive of significant fibrosis (F≥2). A total of 527 patients (IM: 112; FM: 255; E: 160) were recruited (age 60±12; 55% females; 58% non-Hispanic whites, 29% AA, 4% Asian; BMI 33±6 Kg/m2; A1c 7.5±1.7%; AST 22±10 U/L; ALT 24±17 U/L). Only 10% of patients had an ALT >40 IU/L. The prevalence of NAFLD by CAP (≥280 dB/m) was 66% with only 14% having an ALT >40 IU/L. The prevalence of fibrosis was 23% (kPa ≥7.0). In 74% of patients with liver fibrosis AST/ALT were <40 IU/L. Diagnostic panels (APRI, FIB-4) were normal in ∼50% of patients and in the “indeterminate zone” in 36%, highlighting the value of combining them with imaging when screening. Steatosis was similar across E, IM and FM clinics, but F2-3 fibrosis was more common in E than in IM and FM clinics (30 vs. 16 and 21%, respectively; both p<0.05). BMI correlated strongly with steatosis (r = 0.43) and with fibrosis (r = 0.25; both p<0.001), but glycemic control (A1c) did not correlate with either. In conclusion, NAFLD requires greater awareness among clinicians as there is a high prevalence of undiagnosed liver steatosis and fibrosis in patients with T2DM. An approach based on ALT alone is inadequate, but a combination of diagnostic panels plus imaging is promising and deserves further exploration. Disclosure R. Lomonaco: None. N. Fanous: None. S. Abstract:The controlled attenuation parameter (CAP) measurement obtained from FibroScan® is a low-risk method of assessing fatty liver. This study investigated the association between the FibroScan® CAP values and nine anthropometric indicators, including the abdominal volume index (AVI), body fat percentage (BFP), body mass index (BMI), conicity index (CI), ponderal index (PI), relative fat mass (RFM), waist circumference (WC), waist–hip ratio (WHR), and waist-to-height ratio (WHtR), and risk of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (fatty liver). We analyzed the medical records of adult patients who had FibroScan® CAP results. CAP values <238 dB/m were coded as 0 (non- fatty liver) and ≥238 dB/m as 1 (fatty liver). An individual is considered to have class 1 obesity when their body mass index (BMI) ranges from 30 kg/m2 to 34.9 kg/m2. Class 2 obesity is defined by a BMI ranging from 35 kg/m2 to 39.9 kg/m2, while class 3 obesity is designated by a BMI of 40 kg/m2 or higher. Out of 1763 subjects, 908 (51.5%) had fatty liver. The BMI, WHtR, and PI were found to be more strongly correlated with the CAP by the cluster dendrogram with correlation coefficients of 0.58, 0.54, and 0.54, respectively (all p < 0.0001). We found that 28.3% of the individuals without obesity had fatty liver, and 28.2% of the individuals with obesity did not have fatty liver. The BMI, CI, and PI were significant predictors of fatty liver. The BMI, PI, and WHtR demonstrated better predictive ability, indicated by AUC values of 0.72, 0.68, and 0.68, respectively, a finding that was echoed in our cluster group analysis that showed interconnected clustering with the CAP. Therefore, of the nine anthropometric indicators we studied, the BMI, CI, PI, and WHtR were found to be more effective in predicting the CAP score, i.e., fatty liver.

Abstract:Background The cardiometabolic index (CMI) is a new type of obesity index that is based on a combination of lipid levels and abdominal obesity indicators. It is closely correlated with the occurrence of diabetes mellitus, atherosclerosis, hypertension, and other diseases, thus playing an important role in the screening of metabolic diseases. This is coupled with hepatic steatosis and fibrosis which are characterized by excessive liver fat deposition. The aim of this study was to investigate the possible association between CMI and hepatic steatosis and liver fibrosis. Methods A cross-sectional investigation was conducted using the 2017–2020 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) dataset to probe the relationship between CMI and hepatic steatosis and liver fibrosis, while multiple linear regression models were used to test the linear association between CMI and controlled attenuation parameter (CAP) and liver stiffness measurement (LSM). Smooth-fit curves and threshold effects analysis were used to describe the nonlinear relationships. Subgroup analyses were performed according to gender, age, body mass index (BMI), hypertension, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and smoking status. Results A total of 3084 adults aged 18–80 years were included in this analysis, and after controlling for a variety of variables, there was a significant positive correlation between CMI and CAP [20.38 (16.27,24.49)]. When subgroups were analyzed, this positive correlation was found to be stronger in the female population than in the male (P for interaction = 0.0303). Furthermore, the association between CMI and CAP was nonlinear. Using multiple regression analysis, it was shown that the linear relationship between CMI and liver fibrosis was not significant [-0.09 (-0.47,0.29)]. Conclusions The findings suggest that elevated CMI levels are associated with hepatic steatosis, but that CMI is not linked to liver fibrosis. Larger prospective investigations are needed to confirm our findings.

Abstract:Objective Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is one of the leading causes of chronic liver disease. The controlled attenuation parameter (CAP) obtained by FibroScan reflects the level of liver steatosis in patients with obesity. Our study aimed to construct a simple equation to predict the CAP, to facilitate the screening and monitoring of patients at high risk for NAFLD. Methods A total of 272 subjects were randomly divided into derivation and validation cohorts at a ratio of 1:2. The derivation set was used for constructing a multiple linear regression model; the validation set was used to verify the validity of the model. Results Several variables strongly correlated with the CAP were used to construct the following equation for predicting CAP values:CAP1 = 2.4 × BMI + 10.5 × TG+ 3.6 × NC + 10.3 × CP +31.0, where BMI is body mass index, TG is triglyceride, NC is neck circumference and CP is C-peptide. The CAP1 model had an R 2 of 0.764 and adjusted R 2 of 0.753. It was then simplified to derive CAP2 included only simple anthropometric parameters: CAP2 = 3.5 × BMI + 4.2 × NC + 20.3 ( R 2 = 0.696, adjusted R 2 = 0.689). The data were well fitted by both models. In the verification group, the predicted (CAP1 and CAP2) values were compared to the actual CAP values. For the CAP1 equation, R 2 = 0.653, adjusted R 2 = 0.651. For the CAP2 equation, R 2 = 0.625, adjusted R 2 = 0.623. The intra-class correlation coefficient (ICC) values were 0.781 for CAP1 and 0.716 for CAP2 ( p < 0.001). The actual CAP and the predicted CAP also showed good agreement in Bland-Altman plot. Conclusion The equations for predicting the CAP value comprise easily accessible variables, and showed good stability and predictive power. Thus, they can be used as simple surrogate tools for early screening and follow-up of NAFLD in the Chinese population.

Prognostic value of liver stiffness in metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease: a systematic review and meta-analysis

Abstract:Background and aims: liver stiffness measurement, assessed by vibration-controlled transient elastography, has been recognized as a powerful tool for liver fibrosis assessment. The potential of liver stiffness measurement to predict clinically relevant outcomes in fatty liver disease has received considerable attention. This study aimed to investigate the prediction of liver-related events in metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease patients by liver stiffness measurement value on transient elastography. Methods: the electronic databases including PubMed, EMBASE, Cochrane Library, and ClinicalTrials.gov until 6 September 2023 were systematically searched. The hazard ratios adjusted for confounders were extracted and pooled by random-effects model analysis. Results: a total of 20,587 individuals from seven studies were included. The pooled hazard ratios (HRs) were 18.65 (95 % CI: 9.95-34.95, p < 0.01, I2 = 0 %) in the stratification analysis of the highest versus lowest liver stiffness measurement categories. In 1-kPa analysis, the risk of liver-related events was increased with 1 kPa increment (HR 1.05, 95 % CI: 1.03-1.07, p < 0.01, I2 = 74.47 %). Conclusions: metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease patients with high liver stiffness measurement values were at an increased risk of liver-related events. Liver stiffness measurement can be used as a prognostic tool to achieve risk stratification in fatty liver patients.
