Abstract:The present investigation was undertaken to study the interaction of CO2 and body temperature on phrenic activity (moving average) and tracheal occlusion pressure. Studies were performed on spontaneously ventilated cats anesthetized with pentobarbital sodium at different body temperatures (32-41 degrees C) while breathing room air, 2 and 4% CO2 in 50% O2. At any given chemical drive, increased body temperature caused a similar increase in rate of phrenic activity and tracheal occlusion pressure, while their peak values remained virtually unchanged. At any given body temperature, increased chemical drive caused an increase in both rate of rise and peak values of phrenic activity and tracheal occlusion pressure. These results confirm previous findings that body temperature affects the rate of rise of the central inspiratory activity (CIA), but not the inspiratory "off-switch" threshold, while CO2 increases both the rate of rise of CIA and off-switch threshold. In addition the results indicate that tracheal occlusion pressure provides a similar index of CIA as "integrated" phrenic activity.

Abstract:Individual pig detection and tracking is an important requirement in many video-based pig monitoring applications. However, it still remains a challenging task in complex scenes, due to problems of light fluctuation, similar appearances of pigs, shape deformations, and occlusions. In order to tackle these problems, we propose a robust on-line multiple pig detection and tracking method which does not require manual marking or physical identification of the pigs and works under both daylight and infrared (nighttime) light conditions. Our method couples a CNN-based detector and a correlation filter-based tracker via a novel hierarchical data association algorithm. In our method, the detector gains the best accuracy/speed trade-off by using the features derived from multiple layers at different scales in a one-stage prediction network. We define a tag-box for each pig as the tracking target, from which features with a more local scope are extracted for learning, and the multiple object tracking is conducted in a key-points tracking manner using learned correlation filters. Under challenging conditions, the tracking failures are modelled based on the relations between responses of the detector and tracker, and the data association algorithm allows the detection hypotheses to be refined; meanwhile the drifted tracks can be corrected by probing the tracking failures followed by the re-initialization of tracking. As a result, the optimal tracklets can sequentially grow with on-line refined detections, and tracking fragments are correctly integrated into respective tracks while keeping the original identifications. Experiments with a dataset captured from a commercial farm show that our method can robustly detect and track multiple pigs under challenging conditions. The promising performance of the proposed method also demonstrates the feasibility of long-term individual pig tracking in a complex environment and thus promises commercial potential.

Abstract:Negative social interactions are harmful for animal health and welfare. It is increasingly important to employ a continuous and effective monitoring system for detecting and tracking individual animals in large-scale farms. Such a system can provide timely alarms for farmers to intervene when damaging behavior occurs. Deep learning combined with camera-based monitoring is currently arising in agriculture. In this work, deep neural networks are employed to assist individual pig detection and tracking, which enables further analyzing behavior at the individual pig level. First, three state-of-the-art deep learning-based Multi-Object Tracking (MOT) methods are investigated, namely Joint Detection and Embedding (JDE), FairMOT, and YOLOv5s with DeepSORT. All models facilitate automated and continuous individual detection and tracking. Second, weighted-association algorithms are proposed for each MOT method, in order to optimize the object re-identification (re-ID), and improve the individual animal-tracking performance, especially for reducing the number of identity switches. The proposed weighted-association methods are evaluated on a large manually annotated pig dataset, and compared with the state-of-the-art methods. FairMOT with the proposed weighted association achieves the highest IDF1, the least number of identity switches, and the fastest execution rate. YOLOv5s with DeepSORT results in the highest MOTA and MOTP tracking metrics. These methods show high accuracy and robustness for individual pig tracking, and are promising candidates for continuous multi-object tracking for real use in commercial farms.
An Automatic Movement Monitoring Method for Group-Housed Pigs

Abstract:Continuous movement monitoring helps quickly identify pig abnormalities, enabling immediate action to enhance pig welfare. However, continuous and precise monitoring of daily pig movement on farms remains challenging. We present an approach to automatically and precisely monitor the movement of group-housed pigs. The instance segmentation model YOLOv8m-seg was applied to detect the presence of pigs. We then applied a spatial moment algorithm to quantitatively summarize each detected pig's contour as a corresponding center point. The agglomerative clustering (AC) algorithm was subsequently used to gather the pig center points of a single frame into one point representing the group-housed pigs' position, and the movement volume was obtained by calculating the displacements of the clustered group-housed pigs' center points of consecutive frames. We employed the method to monitor the movement of group-housed pigs from April to July 2023; more than 1500 h of top-down pig videos were recorded by a surveillance camera. The F1 scores of the trained YOLOv8m-seg model during training were greater than 90% across most confidence levels, and the model achieved an mAP50-95 of 0.96. The AC algorithm performs with an average extraction time of less than 1 millisecond; this method can run efficiently on commodity hardware.

Abstract:Increasing demand for meat products combined with farm labor shortages has resulted in a need to develop new real-time solutions to monitor animals effectively. Significant progress has been made in continuously locating individual pigs using tracking-by-detection methods. However, these methods fail for oblong pens because a single fixed camera does not cover the entire floor at adequate resolution. We address this problem by using multiple cameras, placed such that the visual fields of adjacent cameras overlap, and together they span the entire floor. Avoiding breaks in tracking requires inter-camera handover when a pig crosses from one camera's view into that of an adjacent camera. We identify the adjacent camera and the shared pig location on the floor at the handover time using inter-view homography. Our experiments involve two grow-finish pens, housing 16-17 pigs each, and three RGB cameras. Our algorithm first detects pigs using a deep learning-based object detection model (YOLO) and creates their local tracking IDs using a multi-object tracking algorithm (DeepSORT). We then use inter-camera shared locations to match multiple views and generate a global ID for each pig that holds throughout tracking. To evaluate our approach, we provide five two-minutes long video sequences with fully annotated global identities. We track pigs in a single camera view with a Multi-Object Tracking Accuracy and Precision of 65.0% and 54.3% respectively and achieve a Camera Handover Accuracy of 74.0%. Integrating computer vision algorithms and RFID system for identification and tracking of group-housed animals: an example with pigs

Abstract:Precision livestock farming aims to individually and automatically monitor animal activity to ensure their health, well-being, and productivity. Computer vision has emerged as a promising tool for this purpose. However, accurately tracking individuals using imaging remains challenging, especially in group housing where animals may have similar appearances. Close interaction or crowding among animals can lead to the loss or swapping of animal IDs, compromising tracking accuracy. To address this challenge, we implemented a framework combining a tracking-by-detection method with a radio frequency identification (RFID) system. We tested this approach using twelve pigs in a single pen as an illustrative example. Three of the pigs had distinctive natural coat markings, enabling their visual identification within the group. The remaining pigs either shared similar coat color patterns or were entirely white, making them visually indistinguishable from each other. We employed the latest version of the You Only Look Once (YOLOv8) and BoT-SORT algorithms for detection and tracking, respectively. YOLOv8 was fine-tuned with a dataset of 3,600 images to detect and classify different pig classes, achieving a mean average precision of all the classes of 99%. The fine-tuned YOLOv8 model and the tracker BoT-SORT were then applied to a 166.7-min video comprising 100,018 frames. Results showed that pigs with distinguishable coat color markings could be tracked 91% of the time on average. For pigs with similar coat color, the RFID system was used to identify individual animals when they entered the feeding station, and this RFID identification was linked to the image trajectory of each pig, both backward and forward. The two pigs with similar markings could be tracked for an average of 48.6 min, while the seven white pigs could be tracked for an average of 59.1 min. In all cases, the tracking time assigned to each pig matched the ground truth 90% of the time or more. Thus, our proposed framework enabled reliable tracking of group-housed pigs for extended periods, offering a promising alternative to the independent use of image or RFID approaches alone. This approach represents a significant step forward in combining multiple devices for animal identification, tracking, and traceability, particularly when homogeneous animals are kept in groups.

Abstract:Pig counting is an important task in pig sales and breeding supervision. Currently, manual counting is low-efficiency and high-cost and presents challenges in terms of statistical analysis. In response to the difficulties faced in pig part feature detection, the loss of tracking due to rapid movement, and the large counting deviation in pig video tracking and counting research, this paper proposes an improved pig counting algorithm (Mobile Pig Counting Algorithm with YOLOv5xpig and DeepSORTPig (MPC-YD)) based on YOLOv5 + DeepSORT model. The algorithm improves the detection rate of pig body parts by adding two different sizes of SPP networks and using SoftPool instead of MaxPool operations in YOLOv5x. In addition, the algorithm includes a pig reidentification network, a pig-tracking method based on spatial state correction, and a pig counting method based on frame number judgment on the DeepSORT algorithm to improve pig tracking accuracy. Experimental analysis shows that the MPC-YD algorithm achieves an average precision of 99.24% in pig object detection and an accuracy of 85.32% in multitarget pig tracking. In the aisle environment of the slaughterhouse, the MPC-YD algorithm achieves a correlation coefficient (R2) of 98.14% in pig counting from video, and it achieves stable pig counting in a breeding environment. The algorithm has a wide range of application prospects.

Towards re-identification for long-term tracking of group housed pigs

Abstract:Automatic monitoring tools can be useful for assessing the health and welfare status of animals. Specifically, a computer-vision-based tracking tool could be helpful to remotely and automatically monitoring the behaviour of individual animals. However, animals housed in partly covered pens present a particular challenge for animal tracking due to the possibility for animals to disappear from and reappear in the field of view (FOV). The aim of this study was to develop a tracking method for weaner pigs housed in partly covered pens, with the particular aim to re-identify individuals when they reappear in the FOV. In this study a one-shot tracker in which the detection and re-identification (re-ID) branches were jointly trained was adopted for tracking pigs. Three associations based on re-ID features and intersection over union (IoU) were used for matching the correct ID, especially re-identifying individuals reappearing in the FOV. Two sets of short videos were selected to test the model, with a first set of two short videos (mean ± SD: 1m50s ± 20) and a second set of three short videos (mean ± SD: 10m08s ± 3m52s). The model reached the performance of 91.41% and 88.33% in MOTA and IDF1 on the first set of videos, and 81.17% in mean tracking percentage per individual on the second set. The test on one long video (from the same pen, length: 85 m) achieved a tracking percentage of 16.78% per individual. The suggested method improved automatic individual behaviour analysis in complex environments where animals can leave the FOV.

Video-based Detection and Tracking with Improved Re-Identification Association for Pigs and Laying Hens in Farms

Abstract:It is important to detect negative behavior of animals for breeding in order to improve their health and welfare. In this work, AI is employed to assist individual animal detection and tracking, which enables the future analysis of behavior for individual animals. The study involves animal groups of pigs and laying hens. First, two state-of-the-art deep learning-based Multi-Object Tracking (MOT) methods are investigated, namely Joint Detection and Embedding (JDE) and FairMOT. Both models detect and track individual animals automatically and continuously. Second, a weighted association algorithm is proposed, which is feasible for both MOT methods to optimize the object re-identification (re-ID), thereby improving the tracking performance. The proposed methods are evaluated on manually annotated datasets. The best tracking performance on pigs is obtained by FairMOT with the weighted association, resulting in an IDF1 of 90.3%, MOTA of 90.8%, MOTP of 83.7%, number of identity switches of 14, and an execution rate of 20.48 fps. For the laying hens, FairMOT with the weighted association also achieves the best tracking performance, with an IDF1 of 88.8%. MOTA of 86.8%. MOTP of 72.8%, number of identity switches of 2, and an execution rate of 21.01 fps. These results show a promising high accuracy and robustness for the individual animal tracking.

Abstract:Pig counting is a crucial task for large-scale pig farming, which is usually completed by human visually. But this process is very time-consuming and error-prone. Few studies in literature developed automated pig counting method. Existing methods only focused on pig counting using single image, and its accuracy is challenged by several factors, including pig movements, occlusion and overlapping. Especially, the field of view of a single image is very limited, and could not meet the requirements of pig counting for large pig grouping houses. To that end, we presented a real-time automated pig counting system in crowds using only one monocular fisheye camera with an inspection robot. Our system showed that it produces accurate results surpassing human. Our pipeline began with a novel bottom-up pig detection algorithm to avoid false negatives due to overlapping, occlusion and deformation of pigs. A deep convolution neural network (CNN) is designed to detect keypoints of pig body part and associate the keypoints to identify individual pigs. After that, an efficient on-line tracking method is used to associate pigs across video frames. Finally, a novel spatial-aware temporal response filtering (STRF) method is proposed to predict the counts of pigs, which is effective to suppress false positives caused by pig or camera movements or tracking failures. The whole pipeline has been deployed in an edge computing device, and demonstrated the effectiveness.
Research on Dynamic Pig Counting Method Based on Improved YOLOv7 Combined with DeepSORT

Abstract:A pig inventory is a crucial component of achieving precise and large-scale farming. In complex pigsty environments, due to pigs' stress reactions and frequent obstructions, it is challenging to count them accurately and automatically. This difficulty contrasts with most current deep learning studies, which rely on overhead views or static images for counting. This research proposes a video-based dynamic counting method, combining YOLOv7 with DeepSORT. By utilizing the YOLOv7 network structure and optimizing the second and third 3 × 3 convolution operations in the head network ELAN-W with PConv, the model reduces the computational demand and improves the inference speed without sacrificing accuracy. To ensure that the network acquires accurate position perception information at oblique angles and extracts rich semantic information, we introduce the coordinate attention (CA) mechanism before the three re-referentialization paths (REPConv) in the head network, enhancing robustness in complex scenarios. Experimental results show that, compared to the original model, the improved model increases the mAP by 3.24, 0.05, and 1.00 percentage points for oblique, overhead, and all pig counting datasets, respectively, while reducing the computational cost by 3.6 GFLOPS. The enhanced YOLOv7 outperforms YOLOv5, YOLOv4, YOLOv3, Faster RCNN, and SSD in target detection with mAP improvements of 2.07, 5.20, 2.16, 7.05, and 19.73 percentage points, respectively. In dynamic counting experiments, the improved YOLOv7 combined with DeepSORT was tested on videos with total pig counts of 144, 201, 285, and 295, yielding errors of -3, -3, -4, and -26, respectively, with an average accuracy of 96.58% and an FPS of 22. This demonstrates the model's capability of performing the real-time counting of pigs in various scenes, providing valuable data and references for automated pig counting research.
Detection of Pig Movement and Aggression Using Deep Learning Approaches

Abstract:Motion and aggressive behaviors in pigs provide important information for the study of social hierarchies in pigs and can be used as a selection indicator for pig health and aggression parameters. However, relying only on visual observation or surveillance video to record the number of aggressive acts is time-consuming, labor-intensive, and lasts for only a short period of time. Manual observation is too short compared to the growth cycle of pigs, and complete recording is impractical in large farms. In addition, due to the complex process of assessing the intensity of pig aggression, manual recording is highly influenced by human subjective vision. In order to efficiently record pig motion and aggressive behaviors as parameters for breeding selection and behavioral studies, the videos and pictures were collected from typical commercial farms, with each unit including 8~20 pigs in 7~25 m2 space; they were bred in stable social groups and a video was set up to record the whole day's activities. We proposed a deep learning-based recognition method for detecting and recognizing the movement and aggressive behaviors of pigs by recording and annotating head-to-head tapping, head-to-body tapping, neck biting, body biting, and ear biting during fighting. The method uses an improved EMA-YOLOv8 model and a target tracking algorithm to assign a unique digital identity code to each pig, while efficiently recognizing and recording pig motion and aggressive behaviors and tracking them, thus providing statistics on the speed and duration of pig motion. On the test dataset, the average precision of the model was 96.4%, indicating that the model has high accuracy in detecting a pig's identity and its fighting behaviors. The model detection results were highly correlated with the manual recording results (R2 of 0.9804 and 0.9856, respectively), indicating that the method has high accuracy and effectiveness. In summary, the method realized the detection and identification of motion duration and aggressive behavior of pigs under natural conditions, and provided reliable data and technical support for the study of the social hierarchy of pigs and the selection of pig health and aggression phenotypes.

Abstract:Tracking the behaviour of animals in group-housed situations is a critical area of study for precision livestock farming, but it poses challenges in diverse and crowded environments. Existing methods often struggle with false positives and false negatives due to the complexities of these scenarios. In this study, we propose a robust computer vision algorithm for long-term (>10mins) animal tracking, with a primary focus on group-housed pigs. Our method addresses the limitations of current approaches by effectively handling errors from the detector in challenging environments. Our approach integrates Graph Convolutional Networks.(GCNs) with deep learning-based object detection techniques. We represent the data as a graph structure, with nodes corresponding to multiple animal detections over several frames. Edges connect the detections that do not appear in the same frame. The model's objective is to perform edge classification, where each edge is associated with a scalar representing the probability of being the same object. To enhance the robustness of edge classification, we combine the classifier with an ensemble predictor, enabling accurate tracking of animal identities for extended periods. Notably, our graph convolutional model achieves accurate re identification of non-consecutive animal detections in real-time without the need for trajectory prediction or ID association. We evaluate our method by comparing its performance against other tracking methods, including DeepSORT-a state-of-the-art animal tracking method that relies on a Kalman filter, a deep appearance descriptor, and the Hungarian algorithm for trajectory prediction and ID association. Our comparison demonstrates the advantages of our method, as it (1) improves the IDF1 score, indicating enhanced ID association accuracy, by 1.72%; (2) mitigates 93% of errors resulting from ID-switch and deviation; (3) extends the tracking duration of each animal by approximately 66% in challenging conditions; and (4) achieves a processing speed that is 1000 times faster than DeepSORT when operating at 22fps with the detector. The potential applications of our method extend to various aspects of livestock management. By accurately tracking individual animals, we can monitor behaviours such as feeding, drinking, and aggressive interactions. This information can lead to improvements in animal welfare, resource allocation, and breeding strategies. Where's Your Head At? Detecting the Orientation and Position of Pigs with Rotated Bounding Boxes

Abstract:Pig detection in real production environments is a challenging task due to the variations of housing system and dynamic background. Though considerable progress has been made, for practical settings, there still existing challenges for densely housed pigs as they are often arbitrarily arranged at varying orientations in presence of lens distortion, overlap, occlusion, and motion blur. In this paper, we propose a rotated and oriented bounding box detector for fast and accurate predict the location and orientation of each animal. The key point is to parameterize pigs' geometric parameters (body centre, body length, body width, orientation) with an orientated bounding box (box centre, long edge, short edge and direction vector). To further improve the performance on video object detection, a fast sequential non-Maximum Suppression (FastSeq-NMS) method is proposed by making used of the orientation and temporal information. To quantitative evaluate the proposed method, 3123 images from 27 different pens were selected as training and validation sets, video clips from three new environments were selected as test set. Our lightweight model (1.7 M) achieves 99.21 Average Precision (AP@0.5) on validation set, and 96.54 AP@0.5 on test set, further improved to 97.41 AP@0.5 with the proposed NMS method. Abstract:Computer vision methods for non-contact detection of herd pigs could help detect early disease and reduce mortality rates by analyzing pig behavior. Due to the limitation of breeding space and cost, the unit breeding area is relatively dense, making it difficult to detect all pigs for a long time without interruption. In order to improve the detection performance, this paper proposes an end-to-end efficient and accurate herd pig detection framework based on YOLOv7 target detection model, which is named Ghost-YOLOv7-SIoU. In this framework, the feature extraction backbone network consists of a series of directly connected efficient layer aggregation networks (ELAN) and downsampling modules. The neck network contains a feature pyramid network and path aggregation network. Ghost convolution is adopted to replace the 3 × 3 standard convolution of the ELAN module in backbone network and the scaled-up ELAN module in neck network to obtain rich features while reducing the parameter number and computational effort. Furthermore, to speed up the model convergence and improve the model robustness and accuracy, SIoU loss is used for bounding box regression in the training stage. Abstract:The identification of social interactions is of fundamental importance for animal behavioral studies, addressing numerous problems like investigating the influence of social hierarchical structures or the drivers of agonistic behavioral disorders. However, the majority of previous studies often rely on manual determination of the number and types of social encounters by direct observation which requires a large amount of personnel and economical efforts. To overcome this limitation and increase research efficiency and, thus, contribute to animal welfare in the long term, we propose in this study a framework for the automated identification of social contacts. In this framework, we apply a convolutional neural network (CNN) to detect the location and orientation of pigs within a video and track their movement trajectories over a period of time using a Kalman filter (KF) algorithm. Based on the tracking information, we automatically identify social contacts in the form of head–head and head–tail contacts. Moreover, by using the individual animal IDs, we construct a network of social contacts as the final output. We evaluated the performance of our framework based on two distinct test sets for pig detection and tracking. Consequently, we achieved a Sensitivity, Precision, and F1-score of 94.2%, 95.4%, and 95.1%, respectively, and a MOTA score of 94.4%. The findings of this study demonstrate the effectiveness of our keypoint-based tracking-by-detection strategy and can be applied to enhance animal monitoring systems.

Abstract:Under the highly valued environment of intelligent breeding, rapid and accurate detection of pigs in the breeding process can scientifically monitor the health of pigs and improve the welfare level of pigs. At present, the methods of live pig detection cannot complete the detection task in real time and accurately, so a pig detection model named TR-YOLO is proposed. Using cameras to collect data at the pig breeding site in Rongchang District, Chongqing City, LabelImg software is used to mark the position of pigs in the image, and data augmentation methods are used to expand the data samples, thus constructing a pig dataset. The lightweight YOLOv5n is selected as the baseline detection model. In order to complete the pig detection task more accurately, a C3DW module constructed by depth wise separable convolution with large convolution kernels is used to replace the C3 module in YOLOv5n, which enhances the receptive field of the whole detection model; a C3TR module constructed by Transformer structure is used to extract more refined global feature information. Contrast with the baseline model YOLOv5n, the new detection model does not increase additional computational load, and improves the accuracy of detection by 1.6 percentage points. Compared with other lightweight detection models, the new detection model has corresponding advantages in terms of parameter quantity, computational load, detection accuracy and so on. It can detect pigs in feeding more accurately while satisfying the real-time performance of target detection, providing an effective method for live monitoring and analysis of pigs at the production site.
Research on Cattle Behavior Recognition and Multi-Object Tracking Algorithm Based on YOLO-BoT

Abstract:In smart ranch management, cattle behavior recognition and tracking play a crucial role in evaluating animal welfare. To address the issues of missed and false detections caused by inter-cow occlusions and infrastructure obstructions in the barn environment, this paper proposes a multi-object tracking method called YOLO-BoT. Built upon YOLOv8, the method first integrates dynamic convolution (DyConv) to enable adaptive weight adjustments, enhancing detection accuracy in complex environments. The C2f-iRMB structure is then employed to improve feature extraction efficiency, ensuring the capture of essential features even under occlusions or lighting variations. Additionally, the Adown downsampling module is incorporated to strengthen multi-scale information fusion, and a dynamic head (DyHead) is used to improve the robustness of detection boxes, ensuring precise identification of rapidly changing target positions. To further enhance tracking performance, DIoU distance calculation, confidence-based bounding box reclassification, and a virtual trajectory update mechanism are introduced, ensuring accurate matching under occlusion and minimizing identity switches. Experimental results demonstrate that YOLO-BoT achieves a mean average precision (mAP) of 91.7% in cattle detection, with precision and recall increased by 4.4% and 1%, respectively. Moreover, the proposed method improves higher order tracking accuracy (HOTA), multi-object tracking accuracy (MOTA), multi-object tracking precision (MOTP), and IDF1 by 4.4%, 7%, 1.7%, and 4.3%, respectively, while reducing the identity switch rate (IDS) by 30.9%. The tracker operates in real-time at an average speed of 31.2 fps, significantly enhancing multi-object tracking performance in complex scenarios and providing strong support for long-term behavior analysis and contactless automated monitoring.
Pig Counting Algorithm Based on Improved YOLOv5n Model with Multiscene and Fewer Number of Parameters

Abstract:Pig counting is an important work in the breeding process of large-scale pig farms. In order to achieve high-precision pig identification in the conditions of pigs occluding each other, illumination difference, multiscenes, and differences in the number of pigs and the imaging size, and to also reduce the number of parameters of the model, a pig counting algorithm of improved YOLOv5n was proposed. Firstly, a multiscene dataset is created by selecting images from several different pig farms to enhance the generalization performance of the model; secondly, the Backbone of YOLOv5n was replaced by the FasterNet model to reduce the number of parameters and calculations to lay the foundation for the model to be applied to Android system; thirdly, the Neck of YOLOv5n was optimized by using the E-GFPN structure to enhance the feature fusion capability of the model; Finally, Focal EIoU loss function was used to replace the CIoU loss function of YOLOv5n to improve the model's identification accuracy. The results showed that the AP of the improved model was 97.72%, the number of parameters, the amount of calculation, and the size of the model were reduced by 50.57%, 32.20%, and 47.21% compared with YOLOv5n, and the detection speed reached 75.87 f/s. The improved algorithm has better accuracy and robustness in multiscene and complex pig house environments, which not only ensured the accuracy of the model but also reduced the number of parameters as much as possible. Meanwhile, a pig counting application for the Android system was developed based on the optimized model, which truly realized the practical application of the technology. The improved algorithm and application could be easily extended and applied to the field of livestock and poultry counting, such as cattle, sheep, geese, etc., which has a widely practical value.
