Abstract:In a rat kidney transplantation model, DA kidneys were transplanted into Lewis rats. Syngeneic Lewis transplantations were studied as controls. Histologic evaluation was made, and immunohistochemical staining with a single‐staining peroxidase–antiperoxidase technique on frozen sections was performed after 2, 4, 6, and 8 days. Antibodies for Ia antigen (Ox 6), ‘suppressor/cytotoxic’ cells (Ox 8), pan‐T cells (W 3/13), and ‘helper/inducer’ cells (W 3/25) were used. Allogeneic grafts were almost completely rejected in 8 days. Syngeneic grafts also showed lymphocyte infiltrates, somewhat later than allogeneic ones, but were not rejected. In these infiltrates W 3/25‐positive cells dominated, being even more numerous than W 3/13‐positive cells. Relatively fewer Ox 8‐positive cells were seen in the infiltrates of syngeneic than in allogeneic transplants. Infiltrates occurred later in the renal medulla than in the cortex. Perivascular infiltrates with cells of all investigated phenotypes were seen earlier in allogeneic grafts than in syngeneic ones. All tubular cells within one renal tubule appeared either Ox 6‐positive or ‐negative. With time, all tubules in the allogeneic transplants became Ox 6‐positive. Some increase of Ox 6‐positive tubules was also seen in syngeneic transplants.
Comprehensive analysis of key genes associated with ceRNA networks in nasopharyngeal carcinoma based on bioinformatics analysis

Abstract:Background: Nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) is an epithelial malignancy with high morbidity rates in the east and southeast Asia. The molecular mechanisms of NPC remain largely unknown. We explored the pathogenesis, potential biomarkers, and prognostic indicators of NPC. Methods: We analyzed mRNAs, long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs), and microRNAs (miRNAs) in the whole transcriptome sequencing dataset of our hospital (five normal tissues vs. five NPC tissues) and six microarray datasets (62 normal tissues vs. 334 NPC tissues) downloaded from the Gene Expression Omnibus (GSE12452, GSE13597, GSE95166, GSE126683, and GSE70970, GSE43039). Differential expression analyses, gene ontology (GO) enrichment, kyoto encyclopedia of genes and genomes (KEGG) analysis, and gene set enrichment analysis (GSEA) were conducted. The lncRNA-miRNA-mRNA competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA) networks were constructed using the miRanda and TargetScan database, and a protein-protein interaction (PPI) network of differentially expressed genes (DEGs) was built using Search Tool for the Retrieval of Interacting Genes (STRING) software. Hub genes were identified using Molecular Complex Detection (MCODE), NetworkAnalyzer, and CytoHubba. Results: We identified 61 mRNAs, 14miRNAs, and 10 lncRNAs as shared DEGs related to NPC in seven datasets. Changes in NPC were enriched in the chromosomal region, sister chromatid segregation, and nuclear chromosome segregation. GSEA indicated that the mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) pathway, phosphatidylinositol-3 OH kinase/protein kinase B (PI3K-Akt) pathway, apoptotic pathway, and tumor necrosis factor (TNF) were involved in the initiation and development of NPC. Finally, 20 hub genes were screened out via the PPI network. Conclusions: Several DEGs and their biological processes, pathways, and interrelations were found in our current study by bioinformatics analyses. Our findings may offer insights into the biological mechanisms underlying NPC and identify potential therapeutic targets for NPC.
Comprehensive analysis of gene expression and DNA methylation for human nasopharyngeal carcinoma

Abstract:Purpose: Nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) is one of the most malignant head and neck carcinomas with unique epidemiological features. In this study, we aimed to identify the novel NPC-related genes and biological pathways, shedding light on the potential molecular mechanisms of NPC. Methods: Based on Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database, an integrated analysis of microarrays studies was performed to identify differentially expressed genes (DEGs) and differentially methylated genes (DMGs) in NPC compared to normal control. The genes which were both differentially expressed and differentially methylated were identified. Functional annotation and protein-protein interaction (PPI) network construction were used to uncover biological functions of DEGs. Results: Two DNA methylation and five gene expression datasets were incorporated. A total of 1074 genes were up-regulated and 939 genes were down-regulated in NPC were identified. A total of 719 differential methylation CpG sites (DMCs) including 1 hypermethylated sites and 718 hypomethylated sites were identified. Among which, 11 genes were both DEGs and DMGs in NPC. Pathways in cancer, p53 signaling pathway and Epstein-Barr virus infection were three pathways significantly enriched pathways in DEmRNAs of NPC. The PPI network of top 50 DEGs were consisted of 191 nodes and 191 edges. Conclusions: Our study was helpful to elucidate the underlying mechanism of NPC and provide clues for therapeutic methods.

Abstract:Background: The incidence of nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) is rare, but a certain amount of mortality remains in NPC patients. Our study aimed to identify candidate genes as biomarkers for NPC screening, diagnosis, and therapy. Methods: We investigated two microarray profile datasets GSE64634 and GSE12452 to screen the potential differentially expressed genes (DEGs) in NPC. Gene ontology and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) pathway enrichment analysis of the DEGs were also performed. A protein-protein interaction (PPI) network of DEGs was constructed by STRING and visualized by Cytoscape software. The associated transcriptional factor regulatory network of the DEGs was also constructed. Results: A total of 152 DEGs were identified from the GSE64634 and GSE12452 datasets, including 10 upregulated and 142 downregulated genes. Gene functional enrichment analysis indicated that these DEGs were enriched in the cilium movement, antimicrobial humoral response, O-glycan processing, mucosal immune response, carbohydrate transmembrane transporter activity, hormone biosynthetic process, neurotransmitter biosynthetic process, and drug metabolism-cytochrome P450 pathway. Five hub genes (DNALI1, RSPH4A, RSPH9, DNAI2, and ALDH3A1) and one significant module (score = 5.6) were obtained from the PPI network. Key transcriptional factors, such as SPI1, SIN3B, and GATA2, were identified with close interactions with these five hub DEGs from the gene-transcriptional factor network. Conclusions: With the integrated bioinformatic analysis, numerous DEGs related to NPC were screened, and the hub DEGs we identified may be potential biomarkers for NPC.

Abstract:Background: Aberrant methylation of DNA plays an important role in the pathogenesis of nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC). In the current study, we aimed to integrate three cohorts profile datasets to identify abnormally methylated-differentially expressed genes and pathways associated with NPC. Methods: Data of gene expression microarrays (GSE53819, GSE412452) and gene methylation microarrays (GSE52068) obtained from the GEO database. Aberrantly methylated differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were obtained by GEO2R. The David database was utilized to perform enrichment and functional analysis regarding selected genes. To create a protein-protein interaction (PPI), STRING and Cytoscape software were utilized. The MCODE was used for module analysis of the PPI network. Results: In total, 181 hypomethylation-high expression genes were identified, which were enriched in the biological mechanisms involved in the differentiation of endodermal cell, mitotic nuclear division, mitotic cell cycle process, chromosome segregation and cell cycle phase transition, etc. Pathway enrichment showed ECM-receptor interaction, PI3K-Akt signaling pathway, Focal adhesion, Protein digestion and absorption and Amoebiasis, etc. The top 3 hub genes of PPI network were FANCI, POSTN, and IFIH1. Additionally, 210 hypermethylation-low expression genes were identified, and our data revealed enrichment in biological processes including axoneme assembly, micro tubular formation, assembly of axonemal dynein complex, cilium movement and cilium organization, etc. Pathway analysis indicated enrichment in B cell receptor signaling pathway, Hematopoietic cell lineage, Leukocyte transendothelial migration, Complement and coagulation cascades and Fc gamma R-mediated phagocytosis, etc. The ZMYND10, PACRG and POU2AF1 were identified as the top three hub genes of PPI network. After validation in TCGA and GEPIA database, most hub genes remained significant. Patients with high expression of POSTN found to have shorter overall survival, while in patients with high expression of ZMYND10 and POU2AF1 longer overall survival was identified. Conclusions: The data revealed novel aberrantly methylated-differentially expressed genes and pathways in NPC by bioinformatics analysis, potentially providing novel insights for the molecular mechanisms governing NPC progression. Hub genes including FANCI, POSTN, IFIH1, ZMYND10, PACRG and POU2AF1 might serve as novel biomarkers for precision diagnosis and providing medical treatment for patient with NPC.

Investigation of differentially expressed genes in nasopharyngeal carcinoma by integrated bioinformatics analysis

Abstract:Nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) is a common malignancy of the head and neck. The aim of the present study was to conduct an integrated bioinformatics analysis of differentially expressed genes (DEGs) and to explore the molecular mechanisms of NPC. Two profiling datasets, GSE12452 and GSE34573, were downloaded from the Gene Expression Omnibus database and included 44 NPC specimens and 13 normal nasopharyngeal tissues. R software was used to identify the DEGs between NPC and normal nasopharyngeal tissues. Distributions of DEGs in chromosomes were explored based on the annotation file and the CYTOBAND database of DAVID. Gene ontology (GO) and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) pathway enrichment analysis were applied. Additionally, a protein-protein interaction (PPI) network, constructed using the STRING database and visualized by Cytoscape, was used to identify hub genes, key modules and important transcription factors (TFs). A total of 906 DEGs were identified; 434 (47.90%) DEGs were upregulated and 472 (52.10%) were downregulated. The DEGs were demonstrated to be enriched in chromosome 7p15-p14, 2q31, 1q21-q22, 1q21, 4q21 and 1p31-p22. DEGs were mainly enriched for the following GO terms: 'Cilium movement', 'microtubule bundle formation' and 'axoneme assembly'. KEGG pathway enrichment analysis revealed that pathways for 'cell cycle', 'DNA replication', 'interleukin-17 signaling', 'amoebiasis' and 'glutathione metabolism' were enriched. In addition, a PPI network comprising 867 nodes and 1,241 edges was constructed. Finally, five hub genes (aurora kinase A, cell division cycle 6, mitotic arrest deficient 2-like 1, DNA topoisomerase 2α and TPX2 microtubule nucleation factor), 8 modules, and 14 TFs were identified. Modules analysis revealed that cyclin-dependent kinase 1 and exportin 1 were involved in the pathway of Epstein-Barr virus infection. In summary, the hub genes, key modules and TFs identified in this study may promote our understanding of the pathogenesis of NPC and require further in-depth investigation.
Identification of markers for predicting prognosis and endocrine metabolism in nasopharyngeal carcinoma by miRNA-mRNA network mining and machine learning

Abstract:Background: Nasopharyngeal cancer (NPC) has a high incidence in Southern China and Asia, and its survival is extremely poor in advanced patients. MiRNAs play critical roles in regulating gene expression and serve as therapeutic targets in cancer. This study sought to disclose key miRNAs and target genes responsible for NPC prognosis and endocrine metabolism. Materials and methods: Three datasets (GSE32960, GSE70970, and GSE102349) of NPC samples came from Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO). Limma and WGCNA were applied to identify key prognostic miRNAs. There were 12 types of miRNA tools implemented to study potential target genes (mRNAs) of miRNAs. Univariate Cox regression and stepAIC were introduced to construct risk models. Pearson analysis was conducted to analyze the correlation between endocrine metabolism and RiskScore. Single-sample gene set enrichment analysis (ssGSEA), MCP-counter, and ESTIMATE were performed for immune analysis. The response to immunotherapy was predicted by TIDE and SubMap analyses. Results: Two key miRNAs (miR-142-3p and miR-93) were closely involved in NPC prognosis. The expression of the two miRNAs was dysregulated in NPC cell lines. A total of 125 potential target genes of the key miRNAs were screened, and they were enriched in autophagy and mitophagy pathways. Five target genes (E2F1, KCNJ8, SUCO, HECTD1, and KIF23) were identified to construct a prognostic model, which was used to divide patients into high group and low group. RiskScore was negatively correlated with most endocrine-related genes and pathways. The low-risk group manifested higher immune infiltration, anticancer response, more activated immune-related pathways, and higher response to immunotherapy than the high-risk group. Conclusions: This study revealed two key miRNAs that were highly contributable to NPC prognosis. We delineated the specific links between key miRNAs and prognostic mRNAs with miRNA-mRNA networks. The effectiveness of the five-gene model in predicting NPC prognosis as well as endocrine metabolism provided a guidance for personalized immunotherapy in NPC patients.

Abstract:Nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) is one of the most prevalent head and neck cancer in southeast Asia. It is necessary to proceed further studies on the mechanism of occurrence and development of NPC.In this study, we employed the microarray dataset GSE12452 and GSE53819 including 28 normal samples and 49 nasopharyngeal carcinoma samples downloaded from the Gene Expression Omnibus(GEO) to analysis. R software, STRING, CMap, and various databases were used to screen differentially expressed genes (DEGs), construct the protein-protein interaction (PPI) network, and proceed small molecule compounds analysis, among others.Totally, 424 DEGs were selected from the dataset. DEGs were mainly enriched in extracellular matrix organization, cilium organization, PI3K-Akt signaling pathway, collagen-containing extracellular matrix, and extracellular matrix-receptor interaction, among others. Top 10 upregulated and top 10 downregulated hub genes were identified as hub DEGs. Piperlongumine, apigenin, menadione, 1,4-chrysenequinone, and chrysin were identified as potential drugs to prevent and treat NPC. Besides, the effect of genes CDK1, CDC45, RSPH4A, and ZMYND10 on survival of NPC was validated in GEPIA database.The data revealed novel aberrantly expressed genes and pathways in NPC by bioinformatics analysis, potentially providing novel insights for the molecular mechanisms governing NPC progression. Although further studies needed, the results demonstrated that the expression levels of CDK1, CDC45, RSPH4A, and ZMYND10 probably affected survival of NPC patients.
Multiparameter flow cytometric analysis of a novel cytotoxin (factor 2) induced tumor cell membrane permeability.

Abstract:An improved twin-probe multiparameter flow cytometric technique was applied to examine a novel cytotoxin, Factor (F2), induced tumor cell permeability. Ability to retain preloaded intracellular bis-carboxyethyl carboxyfluorescein (BCECF, green fluorescence) and to exclude extracellular propidium (red fluorescence) was measured simultaneously with forward and right-angle scatter. In addition to the two expected cell populations which were stained green negative, red positive ("membrane-damaged" and "non-viable", Region 2), and green positive, red negative ("membrane intact" and "viable", Region 3), a third population was seen which fluoresced neither green nor red and displayed intermediate light scatter characteristics (Region 1). K562 cells progressed from Region 3 to Region 1, and then from Region 1 to Region 2 after treatment with F2. These results suggest that sequential changes in membrane structure lead to increased permeability, first with respect to intracellular BCECF and then in turn to extracellular propidium. Flow cytometric changes caused by F2 were detectable 10 min after treatment with 2.5 U/ml of F2, and 5 min after 10 or 40 U/ml of F2. Flow cytometric analysis showed that F2-induced tumor cell lysis and growth inhibition were accompanied by rapid alternations in tumor cell membrane permeability. Flow cytometric analysis also distinguished F2 cytotoxicity from phorbol myristate acetate (PMA) associated cytotoxicity to K562 cells and determined that F2 produced spontaneously or induced by PMA and/or ciprofloxacin had a similar ability to induce tumor cell membrane permeability change.
Identification of novel biomarkers and small-molecule compounds for nasopharyngeal carcinoma with metastasis

Abstract:The purpose of this study was to investigate novel biomarkers and potential mechanisms in nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) patients with metastasis.Two microarray datasets (GSE103611 and GSE36682) were obtained from GEO database, differentially expressed genes (DEGs) and differentially expressed miRNA (DEMs) were identified, Gene ontology (GO) as well as Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) pathway analysis were conducted with DEGs and DEMs targeted genes. Protein-protein interactions (PPI) network of the DEGs and DEMs targeted genes were constructed, furthermore, Connectivity Map (CMap) database was applied to select the potential drugs with therapeutic effects.Overall, we identified 396 upregulated and 19 downregulated DEGs. Additionally, we identified 1 upregulated DEM, miR-135b, and a downregulated DEM, miR-574-5p. Functional enrichment analysis indicated that both DEGs and DEMs targeted genes participated in biological process (BP) of regulation of transcription from RNA polymerase II promoter, DNA-templated positive regulation of transcription, and Epstein-Barr virus infection signaling pathway. Besides, upregulated EP300 gene was a hub node both in DEGs and DEMs target genes. CMap database analysis indicated that sanguinarine, verteporfin, and chrysin are potential drugs for prevention and treatment of NPC metastasis.In summary, the common hub gene, biological process and pathway identified in the study provided a novel insight into the potential mechanism of NPC metastasis. Furthermore, we identified several possible small molecule compounds for treatment of NPC metastasis.
Downregulation of MicroRNA-1 and Its Potential Molecular Mechanism in Nasopharyngeal Cancer: An Investigation Combined with In Silico and In-House Immunohistochemistry Validation

Abstract:Background: This study was aimed at elucidating the molecular biological mechanisms of microRNA-1 (miR-1) in nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC). Method: In this study, we performed a pooled analysis of miR-1 expression data derived from public databases, such as GEO, ArrayExpress, TCGA, and GTEx. The miRWalk 2.0 database, combined with the mRNA microarray datasets, was used to screen the target genes, and the genes were then subjected to Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) and Gene Ontology (GO) enrichment analysis using the DAVID 6.8 database. We then used the STRING 11.0 database and Cytoscape 3.80 software to construct a protein-protein interaction (PPI) network for screening hub genes. Immunohistochemistry (IHC) was further used to validate the expression of hub genes. Finally, potential therapeutic agents for NPC were screened by the Connectivity Map (cMap) database. Results: Pooled analysis showed that miR-1 expression was significantly decreased in NPC (SMD = -0.57; P < 0.05). The summary receiver operating characteristic curve suggested that miR-1 had a good ability to distinguish cancerous tissues from noncancerous tissues (AUC = 0.78). The results of GO analysis focused on mitotic nuclear division, DNA replication, cell division, cell adhesion, extracellular space, kinesin complex, and extracellular matrix (ECM) structural constituent. The KEGG analysis suggested that the target genes played a role in key signaling pathways, such as cell cycle, focal adhesion, cytokine-cytokine receptor interaction, ECM-receptor interaction, and PI3K/Akt signaling pathway. The PPI network suggested that cyclin-dependent kinase 1 (CDK1) was the hub gene, and the CDK1 protein was subsequently confirmed to be significantly upregulated in NPC tissues by IHC. Finally, potential therapeutic drugs, such as masitinib, were obtained by the cMap database. Conclusion: miR-1 may play a vital part in NPC tumorigenesis and progression by regulating focal adhesion kinase to participate in cell mitosis, regulating ECM degradation, and affecting the PI3K/Akt signaling pathway. miR-1 has the potential to be a therapeutic target for NPC.
Identification of Key Genes in Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma Based on Bioinformatics Analysis

Abstract:Objective: This study aimed to identify key genes associated with the pathogenesis of nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) by bioinformatics analysis. Methods: Datasets (GSE13597 and GSE34573) were screened and downloaded from the comprehensive gene expression database (GEO). GEO2R online tool was adopted to analyze microarray data GSE13597 and GSE34573 related to NPC. Volcano plot was generated using Bioconductor in R software. "Pheatmap" was used to draw heatmaps based on the top 10 regulated genes of GSE13597 and GSE34573. GO and KEGG analyses were conducted via online tool DAVID. We uploaded the DEGs of NPC to STRING software and then used Cytoscape software to draw PPI network of DEGs. Results: 216 DEGs were obtained in GSE13597 between patient and control group (111 up-regulated DEGs and 105 down-regulated DEGs). 1101 DEGs were obtained in GSE34573 (470 up-regulated DEGs and 641 down-regulated DEGs). 63 common differential genes were screened named co-DEGs in the two datasets. These DEGs were mainly associated with defense response to bacterium, cell-matrix adhesion, chemokine-mediated signaling pathway, tissue homeostasis, humoral immune response, cilium movement, cilium organization, cilium assembly, and epithelial cilium movement. KEGG pathway enrichment analysis showed that DEGs were mainly involved in viral protein interaction with cytokine and cytokine receptor, salivary secretion, p53 signaling pathway, IL-17 signaling pathway, cell cycle, PI3K-Akt signaling pathway, and ECM-receptor interaction. We identified seven hub genes, including FN1, MMP-10, MUC1, KIF23, CDK1, MUC5B, and MUC5AC. Conclusions: Seven hub genes, including FN1, MMP-10, MUC1, KIF23, CDK1, MUC5B, and MUC5AC, might be therapeutic potential biomarkers of NPC.

Abstract:Treatment for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) with advanced cirrhosis, especially with hypersplenic thrombocytopenia, will be very difficult. Then we evaluated usefulness of concomitant splenectomy with treatment for patients with HCC, severe cirrhosis and huge splenomegaly. The preoperative mean platelet (Plt) count was 4.6 × 10(4)/µL and the mean longest diameter of spleen on CT was 143.0 mm. The mean Plt count on postoperative days 14 and 28 was 23.1 × 10(4)/µL (p=0.005) and 16.1 × 10(4)/µL (p=0.01), respectively and improved significantly compared with preoperative one. A white blood cell count and serum albumin also improved significantly on postoperative days 14 and 28, respectively. Treatment for recurrent HCC after splenectomy was preformed 2.4 times per patient (transarterial chemoembolization 13 times and radiofrequency ablation 4 times/7 patients). Now 5 patients are alive and the mean survival period was 17.3 months (range 8-38 months). It maybe said that concomitant splenectomy for cirrhotic patients with HCC and huge splenomegaly who need to receive a treatment for HCC was useful in our study, because those patients could receive a treatment for recurrent HCC repeatedly, and that probably contributes to the improvement of prognosis.

Abstract:The abuse of the designer amphetamines such as 3,4-methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA) is increasing throughout the world. They have become popular drugs at all night techno dance parties, and their detection is an important issue. The objective of the presented study was to identify an unknown compound detected by thin-layer chromatography (TLC) in the urine of an illicit drug abuser. The compound was isolated by TLC and analyzed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) in electron ionization (EI) and positive ion chemical ionization (PICI) mode to elucidate its chemical structure. Based on EI-MS and PICI-MS mass spectral data, the unknown compound was indicated to be a structure similar to MDMA, substituted by a single chlorine atom-a chlorinated MDMA (Cl-MDMA). To confirm the Cl-MDMA structure, the unknown compound was silylated, trifluoroacetylated, acetylated, heptafluorobutyrylated, and analyzed by GC-MS. The position of the chlorine atom cannot be assigned exactly from the mass spectral data presented here; however, we believe that the unknown compound could be 6-Cl-MDMA.

Abstract:Meeting required objectives in the clinical setting can be difficult because of low exposure to critical events. This has been further compounded by an increase in the number of enrolling students without a reciprocal rise in the number of field-related clinical sites. As simulation gains popularity in nursing, exploration of its use and benefits to teach nursing-related concepts is desirable. The authors discuss a variety of teaching strategies ranging from the use of games to high-fidelity simulators that have been incorporated into an all-day clinical simulation campus laboratory.

Abstract:Background: This study aimed to identify potential novel therapeutic targets for nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) by identifying aberrantly methylated-differentially expressed genes (DEGs) and pathways based on a comprehensive bioinformatics analysis. Methods: Eight gene expression data sets and 2 methylation microarray data sets that included NPC and control groups from the Gene Expression Omnibus were identified. Meta-analyses of the DEGs were performed using the online analysis database "NetworkAnalyst". Aberrantly methylated gene loci were obtained from the GEO2R. Aberrantly methylated DEGs were obtained from Venn diagrams. The enrichment analysis was carried out on the "Metascape" website, and the protein-protein interaction (PPI) network construction, network analysis, and visualization of the analysis results were carried out on the "String" website using "Cytoscape" software. Results: In total, 544 hypomethylation high-expression genes and 164 hypermethylation low-expression genes were obtained. The enrichment and PPI network analyses suggested that several pathways and hub genes with abnormal gene expression accompanied by methylation change, including inositol-trisphosphate 3-kinase B (ITPKB), G protein subunit beta 5 (GNB5), FYN proto-oncogene, Src family tyrosine kinase (FYN), LCK proto-oncogene, Src family tyrosine kinase (LCK), nuclear factor of activated T cells 1 (NFATC1), GNAS complex locus (GNAS), protein kinase C beta (PRKCB), zeta chain of T cell receptor associated protein kinase 70 (ZAP70), lysophosphatidic acid receptor 1 (LPAR1), protein kinase C epsilon (PRKCE), tumor protein p53 (TP53), glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase (GAPDH), fibronectin 1 (FN1), cyclin D1 (CCND1), vascular endothelial growth factor A (VEGFA), HRas proto-oncogene, GTPase (HRAS), signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (STAT3), fibroblast growth factor 2 (FGF2), amyloid beta precursor protein (APP), and matrix metallopeptidase 2 (MMP2), may be related to the occurrence of nasopharyngeal carcinoma . Conclusions: The identification of novel and important pathways and hub genes and their roles in the occurrence and development of NPC will guide clinical research and the development of pharmaceutical targets.

Abstract:Recent trends in migration in the United States are reviewed, focusing on the links between regional and metropolitan population change. Three explanations for the counterurbanization phenomenon of the 1970s are presented and their implications for future migration trends considered. The author concludes that "while 1970s core region declines may have been strongly linked to the counterurbanization process, post-1980 core region gains do not appear to signal a return to the metropolis."
