Abstract:Objectives: This study aims to examine the patterns in juvenile delinquency based on factors including age, gender, offence type, and characteristics used in NCRB reports and to comprehend the various factors that contribute to juvenile crime. Methods: This study was done using the secondary data which was collected from the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) reports in the year of 2017 to 2021 by the Government of India. Result and discussion: The analysis of the aforementioned data reveals that there is a higher level of juvenile crimes in India especially in various states. It also shows that a significant proportion of juvenile individuals have unfortunately fallen victim to a multitude of socio-economic pressures, including poverty, inadequate parental guidance, limited access to education, and the influence of peer groups. The crime rate in India has exhibited a notable upward trend over the years, accompanied by a concerning decline in the rate of convictions. Conclusion: The issue of juvenile delinquency necessitates focused consideration and an approach that prioritizes the well-being of children, with an emphasis on safeguarding and proactive measures to prevent their involvement in deviant behaviour. Research Implications: The findings can have implications for policymakers and educators in the realm of pedagogy development. Additionally, it bears relevance for family members and other stakeholders who play a crucial role in fostering the comprehensive growth and development of children.

Abstract:Despite the formulation and implementation of laws, rules, and sanctions, some type of crime, such as rape, murder, molestation, harassment, robbery, smuggling, theft, prostitution, human trafficking, etc., still persists in almost every country. Since the past several years, there has been an increase in the manufacturing and sale of alcohol and drugs. Therefore, the alarming global epidemic of delinquency has intensified due to the growing poverty and inequality in society. Delinquency is a term used to describe aberrant behaviour or conduct that is prohibited by the law and is generally despised by society. The paper focuses on elucidating the problem of juvenile delinquency and explaining in depth its concept and factors that undermine the development of a nation by employing a qualitative research methodology approach and means of historical database.

Abstract:The relevance of this research stems from the fact that in the modern world, the problem of juvenile delinquency is especially acute. Economic inequality, mass globalization, free access to the means of communication, the development of democracy, as well as various social phenomena often cause negative reactions among adolescents. The research goal was to give a comprehensive scientific substantiation of the problem of juvenile delinquency, to consider the impact of deviant behavior on its emergence, to identify its causes and preventive measures, and to develop proposals for their improvement. The methodological basis of the research included a set of techniques and methods for studying this phenomenon of social life. The study revealed that juvenile delinquency remains a serious problem. The negative trend related to the worsening economic situation and lowering living standard in Russia, including minors, results in the higher psychological and emotional overload and the deepening crisis in family relations, which leads to the reemergence of such social phenomenon as child neglect. The scientific novelty of the study lies in the fact that this paper assesses the criminological features of the current state of juvenile delinquency. The theoretical significance of the research includes the deeper scientific analysis of the problem, which provides a scientific basis for its further development. The practical significance implies that the theoretical conclusions obtained in this study can be used for further study of juvenile delinquency and developing measures for its prevention.

Abstract:This study aims to discuss on some of the main factors that contribute to juvenile crime commitment, and specifically how those factors affect the psychological health of young adults. Factors identified in previous literatures as a significant contributor to juvenile crimes fall under three main categories: family, school, and peers. Structure of the family, parental attachment and treatment of the child during their early childhood are the main elements of family-related factors that determine the likeliness of teenagers leaning towards infliction. For school-related factors, a poor performance (whether academically or extracurricular-wise) and bullying/harassment on campus strongly control the rate of crime conviction in juveniles. Longtime accompany with other anti-social friends and social distancing are the major peer-related factors that play a huge part in leading to offending in the later adolescent stage. Current studies can certainly be a knowledge basis for finding solutions to juvenile crime. Further research can be done in further study of how these factors correlate, and whether slight alternations to them can reduce the rate of crime in those under the age of 18.

Abstract:Juvenile Delinquency is one of the serious problems where almost all the societies of the world are facing and Meghalaya, Shillong is not an exception. The present research study in Meghalaya, Shillong aims to explore the causes that lead children or youths to commit offenses and how as a community we can take preventive measures to help in curbing the rise of juvenile offenses. Exploratory research design was used for this study. The samples for this study were 26 respondents who was supposed to be Teachers, Headman, Police, Officers from the Juvenile Observation Home, Social Workers and Teachers but only 18 of them responded and out of the 18 respondents 7 of them were teachers and 11 of them belongs to the police department. A Semi-structured Questionnaire and thematic analysis was used for data collection and analysis. After the study was conducted, it was found out that the major causes that leads children to commit offences are Peer pressure, Adolescence phase (Emotional instability and personality), financial instability, Environmental factors (Family background, parental skills and surroundings) and Social Media. It was also found out that Education plays a major role in shaping the beliefs system and moral values and that Community and schools can come up with awareness programmes, role plays and counselling to help the youths to learn how to engage in positive self-appraisal, deal with conflict and aggression.

Abstract:The overall purpose of the study was to explore the relationship between various family-related factors and crime. The study also attempted to ascertain whether those factors can act as causative agents for “juvenile delinquency”. The study postulated that although there are different factors that impact on the development of child character, the family plays a central role in child development and consequentially impacting on the character of a child. In order to critically analyze the hypothesis of study, the paper reviewed the concepts of juvenile delinquency and family. Although the paper centered on the family factors influencing delinquency, it equally attached premium on the non-family factors influencing levels of juvenile delinquency. The study found out that there are several notable family-related factors that impact on child crime. These include parental attitudes, the degree of family cohesion, physical violence, and uninvolved parenting. There are also non-family factors that impact on juvenile delinquency, which include the failure of the juvenile justice system, poverty, a lack of access to education, drug abuse and genetic problems.

The objective of our research is to see the affect of some social factor on drug abuser and non abuser viz inhabitation, father’s education, father’s occupation, father’s Income etc. A descriptive cross-sectional survey was conducted among student (20-25year) studying in P.G. in Magadh University using the Drug Abuse Schedule and Personal and Family Data Sheet. A total of 300 students studying in various department of were taken for study purpose. A significant association existed between social factor and Drug abuse behaviour in youth. The present study has both theoretical and practical application. Keeping this in view the present work was undertaken.

Abstract:Juvenile delinquency is a significant problem in all societies around the world, including Nigeria, where it has implications for student mental health and academic performance. This study investigates the relationship between juvenile delinquency and its impact on the mental health and academic performance of students in Nigeria. The study was designed to identify the prevalent forms of juvenile delinquency, the underlying factors contributing to these behaviours, and the effects on student's mental health and educational outcomes. A cross-sectional research design was adopted and a sample of 250 students from ten public secondary schools in Mushin Local Government Area of Lagos State was chosen for the study. The findings reveal a significant relationship between juvenile delinquency and student mental health, with higher rates of stress, anxiety, and depression among affected students. Additionally, the findings revealed a significant impact of juvenile delinquency on academic performance, as it negatively influenced students' ability to learn, concentrate, and achieve educational goals. The prevalence of juvenile delinquency was also found to vary across different socio-economic backgrounds. The study concluded with recommendations for the implementation of comprehensive intervention strategies, including counselling services, community-based programs, and policy changes, to address the needs of students affected by juvenile delinquency in Nigeria.

Abstract:This paper provides insight into how social work can intervene in the process of prevention and correction of juvenile delinquency in deviant behavior. Juvenile delinquency is a complex social problem that requires efforts and collaboration of many parties. Social work, as a professional intervention, plays an important role in solving this problem. This paper first analyzes the causes and the current situation of juvenile delinquency in deviant behavior. These adolescents often have deviant behaviors due to a variety of factors such as family environment, educational background, social environment and so on. Their criminal behavior not only jeopardizes the safety of themselves and others, but also has a negative impact on society. On this basis, this paper proposes a specific path for social work to intervene in the prevention and correction of juvenile delinquency of deviant behavior. Through a variety of methods such as casework, group work, community work and Ricci education, social workers can provide psychological counseling, behavioral modification and social support services for these adolescents. These services aim to help them rebuild their self-confidence, change their bad behavioral habits and better integrate into society. In the course of practical research, this paper finds that there are problems such as limited resources, insufficient specialization, insufficient interdisciplinary cooperation and low social awareness, etc. This paper puts forward countermeasures such as improving the degree of specialization, increasing the input of resources, strengthening interdisciplinary cooperation and improving social awareness.

Abstract:Introduction: The relevance of this article lies in the fact that the prevention of juvenile delinquency in modern Russia cannot be focused only on the perceptions of those families that lead a parasitic lifestyle or those with only one parent. Obviously, in order to increase the effectiveness of such prevention, attention should be paid not only to statistics on the personality of juvenile delinquents or the number of single-parent families and families with a negative environment line, but also to the factors that led to mistakes or shortcomings in family upbringing for the subsequent identification of causes and conditions of the type of crime. Methods: Various methods of knowledge were used in writing the article: dialectical, statistical and analytical methods. The material for the study was practical examples, normative legal acts, statistical data, as well as scientific researches of authors studying the problems of the crisis of family relations in modern society. Results: On the basis of general scientific dialectic method of cognition the crisis moments of family relations in modern society were considered, which are proposed to be a condition for delinquent behavior of minors and young people. It was found out that value orientations in family and issues of achievement of social status for its members are put in direct dependence of certain gender background or social trends, imposed by Internet-groups. The authors try to answer the question whether it is possible to predict juvenile delinquency by identifying families with signs of exclusion from external norms and rules of conduct for the subsequent preventive social influence or it is better to restrict preventive measures in relation to families with explicit signs of antisocial behavior.

Abstract:The rising cases of delinquency among male teenagers is a feedback of sorts that the family system that is the nurturing context of children has failed to effectively protect the teenagers against negative influences. The scenario, has brought the nurturing role of parents into sharp focus. The purpose of this study was to establish the influence of the parenting styles on male juvenile delinquency at the Kamiti Youth Correction and Training Center (KYCTC), which is within Kiambu County, Kenya. The study was guided by Baumrind’s parenting styles theory which categorizes parenting styles on the basis of responsiveness and demandingness in the parenting role. The study used purposive sampling method and simple random technique to select a sample of 68 males aged between 15 and 18 years from a target population of 120 delinquents at the KYCTC. The study used the ex post facto design. In this design data was collected through interviews, Focus Group Discussions (FGD) and self-administered questionnaire. Quantitative data collected through questionnaires was analyzed through descriptive statistics with the help of SPSS version 25.0 and qualitative data collected through in-depth interviews and focus group discussions was analyzed through thematic analysis. The findings of the study indicated that authoritarian parenting style (42%) and permissive parenting style (29.4%) posed the greatest danger to the development of juvenile delinquency. On the other hand, authoritative parenting style (8.8%) posed the least danger to the development of juvenile delinquency. Presentation of data was done through tables, graphs and thematic descriptions of respondent’s statements. The findings point to the critical role the parenting style plays in the development or prevention of juvenile delinquency. Strengthening of the parenting role, coordination with other key influencers including teachers, Government Departments such as the Children’s Department and the Correctional Services, Rehabilitation Centers run by religious organizations and government rehabilitation programs such as KYCTC, can make a difference if each plays their critical role.
Analysis of the Risk Factors Related to the Occurrence of Juvenile Delinquency Behavior

Abstract:Introduction: Nowadays, juvenile delinquency is increasing in terms of number and type. Delinquency and criminality among teenagers is generally categorized as deviant behavior in society and this can be interpreted as a form of teenage resistance to the normative rules and values that apply in society. Many risk factors are related to deviant behavior. This study aimed to analyze the risk factors that influence the occurrence of juvenile delinquency. Methods: This study used a cross-sectional design and a simple random sampling technique. The calculation results involved 295 samples, consisting of 235 students in junior - senior high schools and vocational schools in Malang, and 60 teenagers in the 1 st class Children’s Prison of Blitar. The independent variables were the individuals, their families, the school environment, their peer groups, coping mechanisms, lifestyle and technology. The dependent variable was juvenile delinquency. The data was collected using a questionnaire. The analysis used a logistic regression te st with a significance level of α≤0.05. Results: There were six variables that significantly influence juvenile delinquency, namely individual, family, school environment, peers, life style and technology. Technology is the variable that has the greatest influence on the occurrence of juvenile delinquency. Conclusion: Technology is the most influential factor related to the cause of juvenile delinquency. These results indicate that significant shift in the causes of juvenile delinquency from family and peer factors to technological factors. This is quite reasonable because technology is a major need and it is a trend for teenagers at this time.

Abstract:Juvenile delinquency is a phenomenon that is often studied from a social, psychological, and legal perspective. In principle, children have different handling characteristics. For example, in legal studies, children have unique and distinctive procedures, starting from the Juvenile Criminal Justice System, Child Criminal Law, and Child Protection. However, along with the development of increasingly open technology and information, deviant behaviors in children continue to develop. This study aims to analyze how children's deviant behavior in social media in the study of law and criminology. The method used in this study is a mixed method between empirical and normative studies. This method is used to answer substantially the rules regarding child deviance on social media and the protection provided for children, as well as to see facts and phenomena directly in the field regarding child deviance on social media and some of the factors behind it. This study uses a legal and criminological study approach. The location of this research was specifically carried out in the city of Semarang, and several other cities as supporting material. Supporting data in this study were also obtained from various studies on the internet. This research was submitted through the DIPA Student Research grant scheme, Faculty of Law, Semarang State University in 2022. The outputs in this study consisted of mandatory and additional outputs. The mandatory output in this research is in the form of articles published in the National Journal, while additional outputs are in the form of book designs and/or Copyrights. Abstract:Deviant peer affiliation and gang membership often act as a catalyst for maladaptive behaviour, as individuals in the late adolescent phase of lifespan development typically share stronger attachment to their peers than to their caregivers. An interrelationship also exists between delinquency and factors such as peer approval of deviance and peer pressure to transgress. This is particularly prevalent when exposed to challenges in the family or school, which typically perpetuate feelings of rejection, leading to a greater likelihood to seek out peers to gain a sense of belonging, support and camaraderie. Despite the importance of these interactions, exposure to antisocial peers or gangs exponentially increase the propensity to transgress, as maladaptive behaviour would be reinforced, thereby decreasing the efficacy of primary and secondary socialisation agents. Moreover, youths may become desensitised to violence, learn to rationalise unlawful behaviour and gain opportunities for crime. Accordingly, a qualitative study was conducted in South Africa to explore peer affiliation and gang membership as a pathway to deviance, based on the unique experiences of 20 detained male youths. The data were obtained through purposive sampling and analysed by frequency or percentage distributions, and also through narrative accounts from the participants. The findings identified deviant peer affiliation (75%) and gang involvement (65%) as key factors which motivated the participants to transgress. Furthermore, the association between peer affiliation, substance abuse, academic failure and truancy was apparent. It is thus envisaged that these findings will stimulate further research, contribute to the existing literature and aid in the development of strategies to manage deviant peer association and gang membership.

Abstract:Society today is still naïve that some children are no longer innocent, beautiful souls but callous and dangerous to the community. The escalating crime incidents by juveniles make it imperative to concede the rampant prevalence of juvenile delinquency. This research sought to identify the probable indicators of juvenile delinquency in the milieu of the unprecedented global trend. The study used a mixed-method approach guided by the pragmatist research paradigm. A descriptive research design enhanced an appreciation of participants’ multiple realities based on their lived experiences premised on qualitative and quantitative research. Random sampling was used in selecting 209 students to complete a translated questionnaire. An interview was used to collect data from teachers and parents selected purposively. Data was analysed using frequency count. Data from interviews was thematically analysed. Significant findings were that mental illness, social conditions such as neighbourhood location, home conditions such as family size, school conditions such as strictness of school and environmental factors were the indicators of juvenile delinquency. After-school programs to increase school time counselling services at schools were some of the recommendations by key informants on curbing juvenile delinquency. The overall conclusion is that probable indicators of juvenile delinquency result from several factors such as individual, home, social environment, and school.

Abstract:To understand and treat juvenile delinquency, the study explores the relevance of psycho-physiological indicators. It also emphasizes the necessity for thorough research to minimize the gap existing between psycho-physiological measurements and conventional psychosocial components. The study focuses on the relevance of personality features, habituation, and autonomic arousal required to monitor the proper management of delinquent conduct. Through the integration of biological, psychological, and social elements into a multidimensional approach, researchers can uncover novel insights and create cutting-edge therapies for youths who are at risk of delinquent behavior. The study proposes to develop a comprehensive framework that considers biological antecedents in addition to conventional metrics to reach the root cause of delinquency; thereby drawing special attention to current literature and research that emphasizes the psycho-physiological correlates of delinquency. By examining the complex interactions between stress, physiology, emotions, behavior, and social structures, the study highlights the intricacy of delinquent conduct and the necessity for adopting a multifaceted strategy to fully address the problematic areas. Future research paths are emphasized, with a focus on the significance of longitudinal studies, moderating and mediating variables, and creative treatment techniques. By utilizing psycho-physiological markers and psychosocial traits, researchers can tailor intervention strategies to meet individual needs effectively. Abstract:Children involved in the juvenile justice system are more likely to struggle with substance abuse and intellectual disabilities. Substance abuse is a major public health concern among young individuals globally, including juvenile felons. This study examines the relationships and factors that influence juvenile felons' substance abuse, intelligence, and delinquent behaviour. This study applies a descriptive cross-sectional survey design using a purposive sampling technique. The participants included 163 male juveniles from Tamil Nadu, India. The psychological measures used for the study were the Alcohol, Smoking, and Substance Involvement Screening Test (ASSIST) scale, the Standard Progressive Matrices, and the Australian Self-reported Delinquency Scale. According to the study's findings, intelligence does not have a significant impact on juvenile felons' delinquent behaviour. Furthermore, the study identified repeated offences and runaway behaviour as factors that increase the risk of substance abuse. Juvenile felons' substance abuse significantly influences and predicts their delinquent behaviour.
