Abstract:Prostate cancer cells initially require androgen for continued proliferation, but invariably become androgen independent or unresponsive and recur after treatment by androgen ablation. Exploitation of common signaling components downstream of their specific receptors (i.e., androgen receptor (AR), insulin‐like growth factor 1 (IGF‐1) receptor, and epidermal growth factor (EGF) receptor) could provide a mechanism by which androgen independent cells survive and proliferate. Our objective was to design and implement prostate enriched cDNA microarrays to identify genes induced in prostate epithelial cells in a similar temporal pattern by both androgen and IGF or EGF. AR positive and AR negative human prostate epithelial cells of the M12 line were exposed in parallel to DHT, EGF, or IGF for 0, 6, or 24 h. RNA extracted from each of these groups was analyzed by cDNA microarrays composed of a unique set of 6373 prostate‐derived cDNA clones from the Prostate Expression Database (PEDB). We observed statistically significant changes in 20 genes induced in common after 6 and 24 h exposure to androgen or these growth factors, and validated the microarray results by RT‐PCR for three or four of these genes: v‐myc, isocitrate dehydrogenase, and calnexin. Androgen response element binding motifs were identified in the upstream sequence in 16 of these 20 genes. These results provide comprehensive and unique insights into potential mechanisms by which peptide growth factors provide alternate pathways to control prostate epithelial cell proliferation in malignant states. © 2005 Wiley‐Liss, Inc.
The impact of functional endoscopic sinus surgery on symptoms in chronic rhinosinusitis.

Abstract:Chronic rhinosinusitis restricts the quality of life of millions of involved patients. The aim of the study was to evaluate how functional endoscopic sinus surgery (FESS) modifies symptom profiles in patients with chronic rhinosinusitis. Questionnaires were given to eighty patients with chronic rhinosinusitis, who underwent FESS, to assess typically related symptoms preoperatively and postoperatively. Statistical analyses were performed with the Wilcoxon test. Leading symptoms of chronic rhinosinusitis were nasal obstruction in 93.7% and post nasal discharge in 86.2% of the patients. Furthermore, patients reported anterior nasal discharge in 72.5%, headache in 65% and hyposmia in 62.5% of the patients. One year postoperatively all the symptoms were significantly improved : nasal obstruction in 87%, post nasal discharge in 74.3%, anterior nasal discharge in 70.5%, headache in 59.4% and hyposmia in 58.7% of the patients. Our results showed that FESS is an adequate and effective method in treatment patients with chronic rhinosinusitis. On the other hand, the questionnaire used in the present study was easy to handle for the patients and allowed successful quantification of sinusitis-related symptoms.

Abstract:Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a group of neurodevelopmental disorders characterized by a combination of reciprocal social deficits, communication impairment, and rigid ritualistic interest and stereotypies. The etiology is generally multifactorial, including genetic, immunological and/or environmental factors. A group of ASD has been linked to mitochondrial dysfunction with subsequent deficiency in energy production. Patients with ASD and mitochondrial disease often show signs and symptoms uncommon to idiopathic ASD such as cardiac, pancreatic or liver dysfunction, cardiac, growth retardation, fatigability, but in some cases semiology is different. We show two clinical cases of ASD associated to a deficiency of the mitochondrial respiratory chain (complex I+III and IV) with different clinical presentations. In one case, signs and symptoms of mitochondrial disorder were mild and the second diagnosis was attained many years after that of ASD. These findings support the recent growing body of evidence that ASD can be associated with mitochondrial disorder. Children with ASD and abnormal neurologic or systemic findings should be evaluated for mitochondrial disorder.

Abstract:The utilization of biomarkers for the diagnosis and management of autism spectrum disorders (ASD) remains a relatively unexplored frontier in clinical practice. Proteomics and metabolomics are important tools for revealing key biomarkers and evaluating biological pathways in ASD. We conducted an individual meta-analysis to compare the consistency of biomarkers of ASD from central nervous system (brain and cerebrospinal fluid), circulatory system (blood), and non-invasive samples (urine, saliva, and faeces) and performed pathway enrichment analyses to identify pathways enriched in ASD. After screening 926 proteomics and 619 metabolomics articles, we collected data from 10 studies involving 940 differential proteins and 16 studies assessing a total of 748 differential metabolites. In brain tissue, blood, and urine of ASD cases and controls, flotillin-2 (FLOT2), apolipoprotein E (ApoE), and EH domain-containing protein 3 (EHD3) exhibit differential expression, while vinculin (VCL) displays variations in saliva, blood, and urine. Similarly, in case-control studies, gelsolin (GSN) shows differential expression in brain tissue, saliva, and urine, and malate dehydrogenase 2 (MDH2) in brain tissue, blood, and saliva. Hippuric acid and salicyluric acid were simultaneously found in the brain, blood, urine, and faeces. In terms of pathways, glycolysis/gluconeogenesis, carbon metabolism, and glutathione metabolism were enriched in the brain as well as in saliva or urine. In our study, we identified six shared protein and two metabolic markers in central nervous system, circulatory system, and non-invasive samples, underscoring their potential value for ASD diagnosis and management, warranting further research.

Abstract:Background: Studies have linked autism spectrum disorder (ASD) to physiological abnormalities including mitochondrial dysfunction. Mitochondrial dysfunction may be linked to a subset of children with ASD who have neurodevelopmental regression (NDR). We have developed a cell model of ASD which demonstrates a unique mitochondrial profile with mitochondrial respiration higher than normal and sensitive to physiological stress. We have previously shown similar mitochondrial profiles in individuals with ASD and NDR. Methods: Twenty-six ASD individuals without a history of NDR (ASD-NoNDR) and 15 ASD individuals with a history of NDR (ASD-NDR) were recruited from 34 families. From these families, 30 mothers, 17 fathers and 5 typically developing (TD) siblings participated. Mitochondrial respiration was measured in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) with the Seahorse 96 XF Analyzer. PBMCs were exposed to various levels of physiological stress for 1 h prior to the assay using 2,3-dimethoxy-1,4-napthoquinone. Results: ASD-NDR children were found to have higher respiratory rates with mitochondria that were more sensitive to physiological stress as compared to ASD-NoNDR children, similar to our cellular model of NDR. Differences in mitochondrial respiration between ASD-NDR and TD siblings were similar to the differences between ASD-NDR and ASD-NoNDR children. Interesting, parents of children with ASD and NDR demonstrated patterns of mitochondrial respiration similar to their children such that parents of children with ASD and NDR demonstrated elevated respiratory rates with mitochondria that were more sensitive to physiological stress. In addition, sex differences were seen in ASD children and parents. Age effects in parents suggested that mitochondria of older parents were more sensitive to physiological stress. Conclusion: This study provides further evidence that children with ASD and NDR may have a unique type of mitochondrial physiology that may make them susceptible to physiological stressors. Identifying these children early in life before NDR occurs and providing treatment to protect mitochondrial physiology may protect children from experiencing NDR. The fact that parents also demonstrate mitochondrial respiration patterns similar to their children implies that this unique change in mitochondrial physiology may be a heritable factor (genetic or epigenetic), a result of shared environment, or both.

Abstract:Mitochondrial dysfunction in autism leads to impair the mitochondria's ability to synthesis adenosine triphosphate (ATP) by impairment citric acid cycle as well as increase anaerobic glycolysis. Aim - measuring and evaluating the levels of mitochondrial markers; including glutamate oxaloacetate transaminase (GOT), glutamate pyruvate transaminase (GPT), malate dehydrogenase, and pyruvate kinase) in the autistic group and knowing the possibility of using these markers to diagnose children with autism spectrum disorder. A case-control study was done in the Al-Zahraa Teaching Hospital (Kut City, Iraq) on 100 Iraqi children (male and female), between (April 2023 and January 2024). Their ages ranged between 3 and 9 years. Among them were 50 patients enrolled as autistic group and 50 healthy enrolled as control group. Blood samples were collected and bioassays for GOT, GPT, pyruvate kinase, and malate dehydrogenase were measured by ELISA technique. The autistic group showed that the urine GOT, urine GPT, serum malate, and serum pyruvate levels in the ASD group was significantly higher (P<0.001) than the control group. The ROC analysis showed that urine GOT, urine GOT, serum malate and serum pyruvate had an accuracy level of (81%,71%,77%, and 80 %) and the area under the curve (AUC) was > 0.7 (0.8),0.7, 0.7(0.76), and 0.7(0.8) thus urine GOT, urine GPT, serum, malate, and serum pyruvate are a valid diagnostic marker. There was a significant difference in the mean urine and serum concentrations of mitochondrial markers (GOT, GPT, malate dehydrogenase, and pyruvate kinase) between autistic children and the control group due to mitochondrial dysfunction.

Abstract:Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) has become a major public health concern due to its rapidly rising incidence over the past few years. Disturbances in folate or methionine metabolism have been identified in many individuals with ASD, suggesting that the folate-methionine cycle may play an essential role in the pathogenesis of autism. Thus, changes in metabolite concentrations associated with this cycle could be used as potential biomarkers and therapeutic targets for ASD. The aim of this systematic review is to elucidate the perturbations of this cycle and the possible interventions that may be proposed in this context. Several studies have shown that high levels of homocysteine and low levels of vitamins B12 and folate are associated with ASD. These changes in serum metabolites are influenced by poor diet. In fact, children with ASD tend to eat selectively, which could compromise the quality of their diet and result in nutrient deficiencies. Moreover, these disturbances may also be caused by genetic predispositions such as polymorphisms of the MTHFR gene. Few studies have demonstrated the beneficial effects of the use of nutritional supplements in treating ASD children. Therefore, larger, well-structured studies are recommended to examine the impact of vitamin B12 and folate supplementation on homocysteine levels.
Investigation of cell metabolism dysfunction in autism spectrum disorders using genome-scale metabolic network analysis of neuronal development

Abstract:Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASDs) are a group of highly heterogeneous neurodevelopmental conditions characterized by impairments in social interactions and repetitive behaviors. In spite of extensive efforts, known genetic mutations can hardly explain the ASD cases, which signifies the highly heterogeneous nature of ASDs and calls for shifting to a more holistic approach for understanding the mechanism of these disorders. Several studies have reported that a wide range of metabolic markers is present in blood, urine and brain samples of ASD patients. In this study, using transcriptome data of neurons derived from ASD and control individuals, we reconstructed neuron-specific metabolic network models for two neurodevelopmental time points representing late neural progenitor stage and mature neurons. We simulate gene inactivation in these networks to investigate the altered metabolic fluxes and biological pathways in ASD metabolism. We further examine these networks using reporter metabolite analysis to identify those metabolites around which significant gene expression changes occur. Briefly, our model was successful in predicting previously reported metabolites and pathways implicated in ASD metabolism, including oxidative phosphorylation and fatty acid oxidation, and points to a new finding concerning alterations in the less studied pathways like keratan sulfate degradation pathway and N/O-glycosylation in ASD. Finally, by employing the robust metabolic transformation algorithm (rMTA) we set to find potential drug targets that can reverse the ASD metabolic state into a healthy one. Interestingly, our model found phosphatidic phosphatase enzyme, as well as phosphatidylethaolamine and phosphatidylserine transfer proteins as targets that could recover the healthy metabolic state.

Abstract:Background: Several reports suggest that altered mitochondrial DNA copy number (mtDNA-cn), a common biomarker for aberrant mitochondrial function, is implicated in autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), but the results are still elusive. Methods: A meta-analysis was performed to summarize the current indication and to provide a more precise assessment of the mtDNA-cn in ASD and ADHD. A search in the MEDLINE-PubMed, Scopus, and EMBASE databases was done to identify related studies up to the end of February 2023. The meta-analysis was conducted according to recommendations of the Cochrane Handbook of Systematic Reviews. Results: Fourteen studies involving 666 cases with ASD and ADHD and 585 controls were collected and judged relevant for the systematic review and meta-analysis. The pooled results by a random effects meta-analysis was reported as a geometric mean of the estimated average response ratio and 95% confidence interval. Overall analysis of studies reported differences in mtDNA-cn in blood samples ( k = 10) and non-blood samples (brain tissues and oral samples; k = 4) suggested significantly higher mtDNA-cn in patients compared to controls ( p = 0.0275). Sub-analysis by stratifying studies based on tissue type, showed no significant increase in mtDNA-cn in blood samples among patients and controls ( p = 0.284). Conversely, higher mtDNA-cn was observed in non-blood samples in patients than in controls ( p = 0.0122). Further stratified analysis based on blood-cell compositions as potential confounds showed no significant difference in mtDNA-cn in peripheral blood samples of patients comparted to controls ( p = 0.074). In addition, stratified analysis of aged-matched ASD and ADHD patients and controls revealed no significant difference in mtDNA-cn in blood samples between patients and controls ( p = 0.214), whereas a significant increase in mtDNA-cn was observed in non-blood samples between patients and controls ( p < 0.001). Finally, when the mtDNA-cn was analyzed in blood samples of aged-matched patients with ASD (peripheral blood, leukocytes, and PBMCs) or ADHD (peripheral blood), no significant difference in mtDNA-cn was observed between ASD patients and controls ( p = 0.385), while a significant increase in mtDNA-cn was found between ADHD patients and controls ( p = 0.033). Conclusion: In this first meta-analysis of the evaluation of mtDNA-cn in ASD/ADHD, our results show elevated mtDNA-cn in ASD and ADHD, further emphasizing the implication of mitochondrial dysfunction in neurodevelopmental disorders. However, our results indicate that the mtDNA-cn in blood is not reflected in other tissues in ASD/ADHD, and the true relationship between blood-derived mtDNA-cn and ASD/ADHD remains to be defined in future studies. The importance of blood-cell compositions as confounders of blood-based mtDNA-cn measurement and the advantages of salivary mtDNA-cn should be considered in future studies. Moreover, the potential of mtDNA-cn as a biomarker for mitochondrial malfunction in neurodevelopmental disorders deserves further investigations.

Abstract:Classical metabolomic and new metabolic network methods were used to study the developmental features of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in newborns ( n = 205) and 5-year-old children ( n = 53). Eighty percent of the metabolic impact in ASD was caused by 14 shared biochemical pathways that led to decreased anti-inflammatory and antioxidant defenses, and to increased physiologic stress molecules like lactate, glycerol, cholesterol, and ceramides. CIRCOS plots and a new metabolic network parameter, net , revealed differences in both the kind and degree of network connectivity. Of 50 biochemical pathways and 450 polar and lipid metabolites examined, the developmental regulation of the purine network was most changed. Purine network hub analysis revealed a 17-fold reversal in typically developing children. This purine network reversal did not occur in ASD. These results revealed previously unknown metabolic phenotypes, identified new developmental states of the metabolic correlation network, and underscored the role of mitochondrial functional changes, purine metabolism, and purinergic signaling in autism spectrum disorder.

Abstract:Background: Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by impairments in social interaction and restricted and repetitive behaviors. Oxidative stress may be a critical link between mitochondrial dysfunction and ASD as reactive oxygen species (ROS) generated from pro-oxidant environmental toxicants and activated immune cells can result in mitochondrial failure. Recently, mitochondrial dysfunction, autoimmunity, and abnormal lipid mediators have been identified in multiple investigations as an acknowledged etiological mechanism of ASD that can be targeted for therapeutic intervention. Methods: The relationship between lipid mediator markers linked to inflammation induction, such as phospholipase A2/cyclooxygenase-2 (PLA2/Cox-2), and the mitochondrial dysfunction marker anti-mitochondrial antibodies (AMA-M2), and anti-histone autoantibodies in the etiology of ASD was investigated in this study using combined receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analyses. This study also sought to identify the linear combination for a given set of markers that optimizes the partial area under ROC curves. This study included 40 age- and sex-matched controls and 40 ASD youngsters. The plasma of both groups was tested for PLA2/COX-2, AMA-M2, and anti-histone autoantibodies' levels using ELISA kits. ROC curves and logistic regression models were used in the statistical analysis. Results: Using the integrated ROC curve analysis, a notable rise in the area under the curve was noticed. Additionally, the combined markers had markedly improved specificity and sensitivity. Conclusions: The current study suggested that measuring the predictive value of selected biomarkers related to mitochondrial dysfunction, autoimmunity, and lipid metabolism in children with ASD using a ROC curve analysis could lead to a better understanding of the etiological mechanism of ASD as well as its relationship with metabolism.

Abstract:Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a complex neurodevelopmental condition with a wide range of behavioral and cognitive impairments. While genetic and environmental factors are known to contribute to its etiology, the underlying metabolic perturbations associated with ASD which can potentially connect genetic and environmental factors, remain poorly understood. Therefore, we conducted a metabolomic case-control study and performed a comprehensive analysis to identify significant alterations in metabolite profiles between children with ASD and typically developing (TD) controls. The objective of this study is to elucidate potential metabolomic signatures associated with ASD in children and identify specific metabolites that may serve as biomarkers for the disorder. We conducted metabolomic profiling on plasma samples from participants in the second phase of Epidemiological Research on Autism in Jamaica, a cohort of 200 children with ASD and 200 TD controls (2-8 years old). Using high-throughput liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry techniques, we performed a targeted metabolite analysis, encompassing amino acids, lipids, carbohydrates, and other key metabolic compounds. After quality control and imputation of missing values, we performed univariable and multivariable analysis using normalized metabolites while adjusting for covariates, age, sex, socioeconomic status, and child's parish of birth. Our findings revealed unique metabolic patterns in children with ASD for four metabolites compared to TD controls. Notably, three of these metabolites were fatty acids, including myristoleic acid, eicosatetraenoic acid, and octadecenoic acid. Additionally, the amino acid sarcosine exhibited a significant association with ASD. These findings highlight the role of metabolites in the etiology of ASD and suggest opportunities for the development of targeted interventions.

Response patterns and postspike effects of premotor neurons in cervical spinal cord of behaving monkeys.

Abstract:Most of our information about spinal neurons has been derived from experiments with anesthetized or surgically. reduced preparations. To investigate these neurons under normal behavioral conditions, we recorded the activity of single afferent units in cervical dorsal root ganglia and of single interneurons in the cervical spinal cord of macaque monkeys, as they generated alternating flexion and extension torques about the wrist. Spike-triggered averages of rectified electromyographic activity were used to identify "premotor" (PreM) units associated with correlated postspike effects in active muscles. In addition to postspike effects, some spike-triggered averages showed early increases in average muscle activity, which were attributed to synchronous discharges in other PreM units. In recordings of peripheral afferents, 49% of the task-related dorsal root ganglia units produced postspike facilitation (PSF) of at least one forearm muscle, with a mean PSF latency of 5.8 +/- 0.3 ms (SE). The PSF amplitude was measured as the mean percent increase (MPI): the average increase of the PSF as a percentage of the prespike baseline mean. PreM afferent units produced PSF with an average MPI of 4.6 +/- 0.3%. In a study of cervical interneurons, about 13% (72/562) of the task-related cells showed postspike effects. These PreM interneurons had a mean PSF latency of 7.2 +/- 0.3 ms and a mean MPI of 4.6 +/- 0.2%. The MPI values for spinal neurons were similar to the MPIs reported for rubromotoneuronal and corticomotoneuronal cells. PreM neurons usually facilitated a subset of the coactivated muscles called the unit's "muscle field." The PreM afferents facilitated an average of 46% of the synergistically coactivated muscles, while PreM interneurons facilitated an average of 37%. These are comparable with the percentage of muscles facilitated by corticomotoneuronal (40%) and rubromotoneuronal (50%) cells. During the step-tracking task the monkeys generated ramp-and-hold torques about the wrist. The PreM afferents typically became active during either flexion or extension of the wrist, although a few were bidirectionally active. The most common response pattern in PreM afferents was a tonic discharge, followed by phasic and phasic-tonic discharge. The most common patterns exhibited by PreM interneurons were tonic and phasic-tonic responses. PreM afferent units began to discharge on average 51 +/- 13 ms before activation of their target muscle. This early onset supports our hypothesis that these PreM afferents arose from muscle spindles, which is also consistent with their short-latency PSF and their responses to perturbations that stretched their target muscles. The results reveal some salient differences between the discharge properties of dorsal root ganglia neurons, spinal interneurons, and supraspinal PreM cells in the motor cortex and red nucleus. All four PreM populations include tonic, phasic-tonic, and phasic cells, but in significantly different proportions. Most PreM afferents resembled corticomotoneuronal cells in being active only with their target muscles, unlike rubromotoneuronal cells and spinal PreM interneurons, which tended to exhibit more bidirectional discharges.
Neurometabolite levels in the brains of patients with autism spectrum disorders: A meta-analysis of proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy studies ( N = 1501)

Abstract:Evidence suggests that neurometabolite alterations may be involved in the pathophysiology of autism spectrum disorders (ASDs). We performed a meta-analysis of proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy ( 1 H-MRS) studies to examine the neurometabolite levels in the brains of patients with ASD. A systematic search of PubMed and Web of Science identified 54 studies for the meta-analysis. A random-effects meta-analysis demonstrated that compared with the healthy controls, patients with ASD had lower N-acetyl-aspartate-containing compound (NAA) and choline-containing compound (Cho) levels and NAA/(creatine-containing compound) Cr ratios in the gray matter and lower NAA and glutamate + glutamine (Glx) levels in the white matter. Furthermore, NAA and gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) levels, NAA/Cr ratios, and GABA/Cr ratios were significantly decreased in the frontal cortex of patients with ASD, whereas glutamate (Glu) levels were increased in the prefrontal cortex. Additionally, low NAA levels and GABA/Cr ratios in the temporal cortex, low NAA levels and NAA/Cr ratios in the parietal and dorsolateral prefrontal cortices, and low NAA levels in the cerebellum and occipital cortex were observed in patients with ASD. Meta-regression analysis revealed that age was positively associated with effect size in studies analyzing the levels of gray matter NAA and white matter Glx. Taken together, these results provide strong clinical evidence that neurometabolite alterations in specific brain regions are associated with ASD and age is a confounding factor for certain neurometabolite levels in patients with ASD.

Abstract:Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder characterised by impaired social interaction and behavioural abnormalities. Growing evidence proved that impairment in mitochondrial functions could inhibit energy production and may contribute to the onset of ASD. Genetic variants in the genes of mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) could interrupt the normal energy metabolism and production in the brain which lead to a wide range of structural and functional changes in the brain resulting in ASD. The present study aims to compare the activities of mitochondrial electron transport chain (ETC) complex I, pyruvate dehydrogenase (PDH) and specific mitochondrial DNA gene (MT-ND1 and MT-ND4) variants associated with ASD subjects in the Tamil Nadu population. Mutational analysis revealed that most mutations in ASD subjects showed synonymous type followed by missense in both the ND1 and ND4 genes. Interestingly, we found that the complex I and PDH dysfunctions may have a role in ASD compared to the controls (p ≤ 0.0001). Hence, the results of the present study suggest that mitochondrial dysfunction, specifically the complex I genes, may play a major role in the onset of ASD, concluding that further research on mitochondrial genes are mandatory to unravel the mechanism behind ASD pathogenesis.

Abstract:Gut microbiota and their metabolic products might play important roles in regulating the pathogenesis of autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The purpose of this study was to characterize gut microbiota and serum amino acid metabolome profiles in children with ASD. A non-randomized controlled study was carried out to analyze the alterations in the intestinal microbiota and their metabolites in patients with ASD (n = 30) compared with neurotypical controls (NC) (n = 30) by metagenomic sequencing to define the gut microbiota community and liquid chromatography/mass spectrometry (LC/MS) analysis to characterize the metabolite profiles. Compared with children in the NC group, those in the ASD group showed lower richness, higher evenness, and an altered microbial community structure. At the class level, Deinococci and Holophagae were significantly lower in children with ASD compared with TD. At the phylum level, Deinococcus -Thermus was significantly lower in children with ASD compared with TD. In addition, the functional properties (such as galactose metabolism) displayed significant differences between the ASD and NC groups. Five dominant altered species were identified and analyzed (LDA score > 2.0, P < 0.05), including Subdoligranulum , Faecalibacterium _praushitzii, Faecalibacterium , Veillonellaceae , and Rumminococcaceae . The peptides/nickel transport system was the main metabolic pathway involved in the differential species in the ASD group. Decreased ornithine levels and elevated valine levels may increase the risk of ASD through a metabolic pathway known as the nickel transport system. The microbial metabolism in diverse environments was negatively correlated with phascolarctobacterium succinatutens . Our study provides novel insights into compositional and functional alterations in the gut microbiome and metabolite profiles in ASD and the underlying mechanisms between metabolite and ASD.
