Abstract:Alloying-type antimony (Sb) is a promising anode of lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) due to its high capacity compared to commercial intercalation-type graphite. However, Sb anodes show unsatisfactory rate performance and poor cycling stability. To address these challenges, covalently-bonded MXene@antimonene (MXene@AME) heterostructure is designed and synthesized. The deliberate combination of the electrostatic-driven self-assembly, custom-designed surface-grafted cationic groups, and a simple annealing treatment produces the AME nanosheets anchored onto conductive MXene matrix via Ti−O−Sb covalent bonding. The synthesized covalently-bonded heterostructure achieves advantageous features of reinforcing the structural stability, alleviating the volume expansion, improving charge transfer kinetics via Ti−O−Sb bonding, and reducing the Li-ion migration energy barrier at the heterointerfaces. Consequently, MXene@AME anode demonstrates outstanding rate capability (346 mAh g −1 at 10 A g −1 ) and exceptional cyclic stability (retention of 103.4% after 2,000 cycles at 1 A g −1 ), which are superior to most non-covalently-bonded alloying-type anodes. The lithiation/de-lithiation pathways and Li-ion storage mechanisms are revealed by in-situ potential-electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, in-situ XRD and ex-situ HRTEM, complemented with theoretical analysis. The heterostructure anodes undergo stepwise phase transformations across two states during discharging, followed by a direct reversion to the original phase upon charging, presenting an unusual asymmetric conversion mechanism. Moreover, a full cell was assembled using MXene@AME heterostructure anode and commercial NCM 523 cathode, which shows good rate capability and cyclic stability, proving its feasibility in practical applications.

Abstract:Powerful yet orderly nanostructure lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) are eagerly desired to satisfy the practical application of portable electronics and smart grids. However, the surface re-stacking and surface functionalization on the MXenes in the anode electrode severely restrict the accessibility to electrolyte ions, hindering the full utilization of their intrinsic properties. To address this challenge, we rationally design three-dimensional (3D) Sn@Ti3C2 materials and fabricate them in a unique layer-by-layer manner through self-assembly for boosting LIBs. In this design system for fast lithium-ion storage, the Ti3C2 MXene nanosheets serving as 3D scaffolds buffer the severe volume expansion and agglomeration of Sn nanoparticles (NPs) and enhance electrode conductivity at the interface. Furthermore, Sn NPs are embedded as interlayer spacers to prevent nanosheet re-stacking and provide outstanding electrochemical performance. The nanostructure can increase the lithium-ion diffusion coefficient and create additional active sites. As a result, the Sn@Ti3C2 anode exhibits a superior specific capacity up to 666 mA∙h∙g-1 at 0.5 A∙g-1 after 250 cycles. Compared with pure Sn NPs, the improved electrochemical performance of Sn@Ti3C2 can be ascribed to the high electronic conductivity of Ti3C2 MXene nanosheets. The 3D Sn@Ti3C2 materials prepared in a layer-by-layer manner through self-assembly display promising performances for LIBs.

Abstract:As the demand for batteries increases with the development of electric vehicles, the energy density of lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) should be continuously enhanced. Due to the excellent theoretical specific capacity, silicon (Si) is the most promising anode material for LIBs. Nevertheless, the application of Si-based anodes is constrained by critical problems such as low conductivity and extreme volume change. Herein, we demonstrate an effective strategy for the fabrication of a three-dimensional (3D) hierarchical porous-structured Si-based anode with dual MXene protection (namely, SiNP@MX1/MX2). By electrostatic force induced self-assembly between modified Si with a positive charge and MXene nanosheets with a negative charge on the surface, Si nanoparticles are riveted to the MXene nanosheets (namely, SiNP@MX1), and then embedded into the 3D MXene skeleton (MX2) via a hydrothermal reaction and freeze-drying. Through the tailored and reasonable design, the internal MX1 coating can accommodate the volume expansion and avoid particle aggregation. The external MX2 allows for rapid electron transport and ion transfer while further buffering volume changes. Most importantly, by preventing Si from directly contacting the electrolyte, the double MXene-wrapped protection design benefits from the formation of a stable solid electrolyte interphase (SEI) film. The SiNP@MX1/MX2 anode material has a high capacity of 1422 mA h g-1 at a current density of 0.5 A g-1 after 200 cycles, excellent cycle stability, and good rate performance. At the same time, the method proposed in this study is expected to be applied to the preparation of other alloy anodes/MXene hybrids for storage batteries.

Abstract:Two-dimensional (2D) MXenes become the predominant choice of lithium-ion battery electrode materials owing to large surface-area-to-volume ratio and metallic conductivity, but severe restacking still remains the main obstruct. Herein, a new strategy of avoiding restacking and assuring structural stability is proposed. We demonstrate the fabrication of novel hierarchically porous and robust 2D/2D hybrid architectures consisting of a large thin Ti3C2 flake with many standing intersecting TiO2 nanosheets, followed by generation of well-dispersed Li3Ti2(PO4)3 nanocrystals. The resulting TiO2 sheets of 4 ~ 5 nm thick inherit specific layered atomic structures of 2D MXene through in-situ ultrafast reactions in molten-salt, and thus are composed of few layers with ~ 0.8 nm layer spacing. The MXene-based composite as an anode delivers high discharge capacity of 204 mAh g−1 at 50 mA g−1, rate capability (115 mAh g−1 at 1000 mA g−1) and remarkable cycling stability with 193 mAh g−1 after 500 cycles at 100 mA g−1. This are attributed to high surface capacitive contributions of the unique 2D/2D robust hybrid architecture that provides enough spaces to accelerate ionic transfer and favorable tolerance to volume variation. This work provides an effective route to rapid generation of MXene-based 2D/2D hierarchical composites for many applications.

Abstract:Pursuing anode materials with high specific capacity and long cycle stability is critical for advanced lithium-ion batteries (LIBs). Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) with high specific surface area, regular pore channels, and multiple active sites are promising anode materials for LIBs. However, the poor electronic conductivity limits their application in LIBs. Thus, introducing some conducting materials is necessary. MXene, known for its excellent electronic conductivity in electrochemical energy storage systems, is an ideal candidate. Herein, a heterostructure composite material (Ti3C2TX/Ni-HHTP) that combines the advantages of both MOFs and MXene has been synthesized via an in-situ growth method, the composite exhibits regular pore channels, enhanced electronic conductivity, and excellent stability. When it is used as an anode material in LIBs, the composite presents satisfying rate performance and cycling stability. The initial discharge capacity of the Ti3C2TX/Ni-HHTP electrode exhibits 424.4 mA h g−1 at 0.5 A g−1 and remains at 390.2 mA h g−1 after 800 cycles with a capacity retention rate of 92.0%. This design strategy provides valuable insights into constructing MOF hybrid materials with enhanced electronic conductivity for various electrochemical applications.

Abstract:Antimony-based materials with high capacities and moderate potentials are promising anodes for lithium-/sodium-ion batteries. However, their tremendous volume expansion and inferior conductivity lead to poor structural stability and sluggish reaction kinetics. Herein, a double-confined nanoheterostructure Sb/Sb2S3@Ti3C2Tx@C has been fabricated through a solvothermal method followed by low-temperature heat treatment. The dual protection of “MXene” and “carbon” can better accommodate the volume expansion of Sb/Sb2S3. The strong covalent bond (Ti–S, Ti–O–Sb, C–O–Sb) can firmly integrate Sb-based material with Ti3C2Tx and carbon, which significantly improves the structure stability. In addition, the carbon layer can restrain the oxidation of MXenes, and the nano-Sb/Sb2S3 can facilitate electron/ion transport and suppress the restacking of MXenes. The heterogeneous interface between Sb and Sb2S3 can further promote interfacial charge transfer. The MXene-Sb/Sb2S3@C-1 with the optimal Sb content shows high specific capacities, comparable rate properties and ultra-stable cycling performances (250 mAh·g−1 after 2500 cycles at 1 A·g−1 for sodium-ion batteries). Ex situ X-ray diffractometer (XRD) test reveals the storage mechanism including the conversion and alloying process of MXene-Sb/Sb2S3@C-1. Cyclic voltammetry (CV) test results demonstrate that the pseudocapacitance behavior is dominant in MXene-Sb/Sb2S3@C-1, especially at large current. This design paves the way for exploring high-performance alloy-based/conversion-type anode for energy storage devices.Graphical abstract

Abstract:Despite its very high capacity (4200 mAh g-1), the widespread application of the silicon anode is still hampered by severe volume changes (up to 300%) during cycling, which results in electrical contact loss and thus dramatic capacity fading with poor cycle life. To address this challenge, 3D advanced Mxene/Si-based superstructures including MXene matrix, silicon, SiO x layer, and nitrogen-doped carbon (MXene/Si@SiO x@C) in a layer-by-layer manner were rationally designed and fabricated for boosting lithium-ion batteries (LIBs). The MXene/Si@SiO x@C anode takes the advantages of high Li+ ion capacity offered by Si, mechanical stability by the synergistic effect of SiO x, MXene, and N-doped carbon coating, and excellent structural stability by forming a strong Ti-N bond among the layers. Such an interesting superstructure boosts the lithium storage performance (390 mAh g-1 with 99.9% Coulombic efficiency and 76.4% capacity retention after 1000 cycles at 10 C) and effectively suppresses electrode swelling only to 12% with no noticeable fracture or pulverization after long-term cycling. Furthermore, a soft package full LIB with MXene/Si@SiO x@C anode and Li[Ni0.6Co0.2Mn0.2]O2 (NCM622) cathode was demonstrated, which delivers a stable capacity of 171 mAh g-1 at 0.2 C, a promising energy density of 485 Wh kg-1 based on positive active material, as well as good cycling stability for 200 cycles even after bending. The present MXene/Si@SiO x@C becomes among the best Si-based anode materials for LIBs.
LiFe0.3Mn0.7PO4-on-MXene heterostructures as highly reversible cathode materials for Lithium-ion batteries

Abstract:Two-dimensional (2D) heterostructure materials, incorporating the collective strengths and synergetic properties of individual building blocks, have attracted great interest as a novel paradigm in electrode materials science. The family of 2D transition metal carbides and nitrides (e.g., MXenes) has become an appealing platform for fabricating functional materials with strong application performance. Herein, a 2D LiFe0.3Mn0.7PO4 (LFMP)-on-MXene heterostructure composite is prepared through an electrostatic self-assembly procedure. The functional groups on the surface of MXenes possess highly electronegative properties that facilitate the incorporation of LFMPs into MXenes to construct heterostructure composites. The special heterostructure of nanosized-LiFe0.3Mn0.7PO4 and MXene provides rapid Li+ and electron transport in the cathodes. This LiFe0.3Mn0.7PO4-3.0 wt% MXene composite can exhibit an excellent rate capability of 98.3 mAh g-1 at 50C and a very stable cycling performance with a capacity retention of 94.3 % at 5C after 1000 cycles. Furthermore, NaFe0.3Mn0.7PO4-3.0 wt% MXene with stable cyclability can be obtained by an electrochemical conversion method with LiFe0.3Mn0.7PO4-3.0 wt% MXene. Ex-situ XRD suggests that LiFe0.3Mn0.7PO4-on-MXene achieves a highly reversible structural evolution with a solid solution phase transformation (LFMP→LixFe0.3Mn0.7PO4 (LxFMP), LxFMP→LFMP) and a two-phase reaction (LxFMP←→Fe0.3Mn0.7PO4 (FMP)). This work provides a new direction for the use of MXenes to fabricate 2D heterostructures for lithium-ion batteries.
Flexible and stable 3D lithium metal anodes based on self-standing MXene/COF frameworks for high-performance lithium-sulfur batteries

Abstract:Lithium metal (Li) is believed to be the ultimate anode for lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) owing to the advantages of high theoretical capacity, the lowest electrochemical potential, and light weight. Nevertheless, issues such as uncontrollable growth of Li dendrites, large volume changes, high chemical reactivity, and unstable solid electrolyte interphase (SEI) hinder its rapid development and practical application. Herein a stable and dendrite-free Li-metal anode is obtained by designing a flexible and freestanding MXene/COF framework for metallic Li. COF-LZU1 microspheres are distributed among the MXene film framework. Lithiophilic COF-LZU1 microspheres as nucleation seeds can promote uniform Li nucleation by homogenizing the Li+ flux and lowering the nucleation barrier, finally resulting in dense and dendrite-free Li deposition. Under the regulation of the COF-LZU1 seeds, the Coulombic efficiency of the MXene/COF-LZU1 framework and electrochemical stability of corresponding symmetric cells are obviously enhanced. Li-S full cells with the modified Li-metal anode and sulfurized polyacrylonitrile (S@PAN) cathode also exhibited a superior electrochemical performance.

Abstract:Scheme of MXene as conductive binders for both high‐voltage cathode and high‐rate anode is demonstrated. The scheme shows MXene inks as conductive binders for both cathode and anode. The excellent mechanical and electrical properties enabled by the interconnected, resilient MXene nanosheet network ensure excellent charge transport, while simultaneously decreasing the inactive component's weight, resulting in a high‐voltage cathode and high‐rate anode. The ever‐increasing popularity of smart electronics demands advanced Li‐ion batteries capable of charging faster and storing more energy, which in turn stimulates the innovation of electrode additives. Developing single‐phase conductive networks featuring excellent mechanical strength/integrity coupled with efficient electron transport and durability at high‐voltage operation should maximize the rate capability and energy density, however, this has proven to be quite challenging. Herein, it is shown that a 2D titanium carbide (known as MXene) metallic membrane can be used as single‐phase interconnected conductive binder for commercial Li‐ion battery anode (i.e., Li4Ti5O12) and high‐voltage cathodes (i.e., Ni0.8Mn0.1Co0.1O2). Electrodes are fabricated directly by slurry‐casting of MXene aqueous inks composited with active materials without any other additives or solvents. The interconnected metallic MXene membrane ensures fast charge transport and provides good durability, demonstrating excellent rate performance in the Li//Li4Ti5O12 cell (90 mAh g−1 at 45 C) and high reversible capacity (154 mAh g−1 at 0.2 C/0.5 C) in Li//Ni0.8Mn0.1Co0.1O2 cell coupled with high‐voltage operation (4.3 V vs Li/Li+). The LTO//NMC full cell demonstrates promising cycling stability, maintaining capacity retention of 101.4% after 200 cycles at 4.25 V (vs Li/Li+) operation. This work provides insights into the rational design of binder‐free electrodes toward acceptable cyclability and high‐power density Li‐ion batteries.

Abstract:Silicon is a promising anode material with high capacity for lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) but suffers from poor conductivity and large volume change during charge/discharge. Herein, by using two-dimensional conductive MXene as a multifunctional binder instead of conventional insulating polymer binders such as poly(vinylidene fluoride) or carboxymethylcellulose sodium (PVDF and CMC, respectively), a free-standing, flexible Si@C film was fabricated by simple vacuum filtration and directly used as anode for LIBs. In the MXene-bonded Si@C film, MXene constructed a three-dimensional conductive framework in which Si@C nanocomposites were embedded. Its loose and porous structure provided much space to buffer the large volume expansion of Si@C nanoparticles and thus led to significantly superior cycle stability compared with conventional CMC- and PVDF-bonded Si@C electrodes. Moreover, the porous structure and the metallically conductive MXene offered fast ion transport and outstanding conductivity of the MXene-bonded Si@C film, which were favorable for its rate performance. These results promise good potential of the MXene-bonded Si@C film electrode for LIBs.
Coupling ultrafine SiO2 nanoparticles with three-dimensional porous Ti3C2Tx MXene as anode materials for high-performance lithium-ion batteries

Abstract:Silicon dioxide with high-capacity and abundant resource is regarded as a promising anode material for lithium-ion batteries, but the poor intrinsic electrical conductivity and large volume change during the discharge/charge cycles impede its practical application. Herein, a three-dimensional porous composite of Ti3C2Tx@SiO2 was fabricated with a low-temperature liquid phase method, and the ratio of SiO2 and Ti3C2Tx was regulated. The as-prepared A-MX@SiO2-2 with the optimal composition exhibits the best cycle performance (437.9 mAh g−1 after 1000 cycles at 0.1 A g−1) and rate performance (130.0 mA h g−1 at 2 A g−1), which are much higher than pure SiO2 and MXene. The excellent electrochemical performance can be ascribed to the synergistic effect of ultrafine SiO2 nanoparticles and three-dimensional porous Ti3C2Tx, which can shorten the Li+ transport pathway, accelerate electron transfer, and relieve the stress caused by the volume expansion of SiO2. The composite structure effectively inhibits both the aggregation of SiO2 and restacking of Ti3C2Tx. Furthermore, the in-situ formed SiO2 can firmly anchored on the surface of Ti3C2Tx nanosheet by robust interfacial bonding, which enhances the structural stability and conductivity. This research provides a feasible design strategy for synthesis of Ti3C2Tx@SiO2 composite to be employed as advanced energy storage materials.

All-MXene-Based Integrated Electrode Constructed by Ti3C2 Nanoribbon Framework Host and Nanosheet Interlayer for High-Energy-Density Li-S Batteries

Abstract:High-energy-density lithium-sulfur (Li-S) batteries hold promise for next-generation portable electronic devices, but are facing great challenges in rational construction of high-performance flexible electrodes and innovative cell configurations for actual applications. Here we demonstrated an all-MXene-based flexible and integrated sulfur cathode, enabled by three-dimensional alkalized Ti3C2 MXene nanoribbon (a-Ti3C2 MNR) frameworks as a S/polysulfides host (a-Ti3C2-S) and two-dimensional delaminated Ti3C2 MXene (d-Ti3C2) nanosheets as interlayer on a polypropylene (PP) separator, for high-energy and long-cycle Li-S batteries. Notably, an a-Ti3C2 MNR framework with open interconnected macropores and an exposed surface area guarantees high S loading and fast ionic diffusion for prompt lithiation/delithiation kinetics, and the 2D d-Ti3C2 MXene interlayer remarkably prevents the shuttle effect of lithium polysulfides via both chemical absorption and physical blocking. As a result, the integrated a-Ti3C2-S/d-Ti3C2/PP electrode was directly used for Li-S batteries, without the requirement of a metal current collector, and exhibited a high reversible capacity of 1062 mAh g-1 at 0.2 C and enhanced capacity of 632 mAh g-1 after 50 cycles at 0.5 C, outperforming the a-Ti3C2-S/PP electrode (547 mAh g-1) and conventional a-Ti3C2-S on an Al current collector (a-Ti3C2-S/Al) (597 mAh g-1). Furthermore, the all-MXene-based integrated cathode displayed outstanding rate capacity of 288 mAh g-1 at 10 C and long-life cyclability. Therefore, this proposed strategy of constructing an all-MXene-based cathode can be readily extended to assemble a large number of MXene-derived materials, from a group of 60+ MAX phases, for applications such as various batteries and supercapacitors.
High-Performance Lithium Batteries Achieved by Electrospun MXene-Enhanced Cation-Selective Membranes

Abstract:Conventional separators applied in lithium batteries face limitations like low porosity, poor electrolyte wettability, lower cation selectivity, and thermal instability, which impact battery performance and safety characteristics. Besides the challenge in separator design, transition metal ion migration from positive electrodes during cycling greatly accelerates capacity fading because of unrestricted diffusion of transition metal cation across the separator. This study explores an innovative strategy for the separator design by incorporating MXene (spraying MXene solution on both sides of the separator), a two-dimensional material, into electrospun Polyacrylonitrile/Polyetherimide membranes with the function of cation selection. Li + can be accelerated, and its transference number increases along with the anion limitation in the MXene layer. Ni, Co, and Mn ion dissolution from the positive electrode is inhibited due to the cation selectivity of the MXene layer. Leveraging electrospinning advantages, the resultant membranes exhibit high porosity, excellent liquid absorption, mechanical strength, and superior thermal properties. Benefiting from MXene's layered structure and excellent adsorption ability, the membrane significantly inhibits the dissolution of transition metal ions while enabling smooth lithium deposition due to its cation selectivity. Eventually, the Li||NMC811 batteries deliver outstanding cyclic performance (91.3% capacity retention after 200 cycles) and robust lithium dendrite suppression (800 hours of stable cycling). Moreover, the MXene-modified membrane demonstrates exceptional electrolyte wettability, significantly improving ionic transference number (0.67) and conductivity (1.6 mS cm -1 ). Modification of membrane surfaces with MXene offers insights into addressing transition metal ion migration from the positive electrode material perspective, providing a promising avenue for high-performance LIBs.

Abstract:MXene-Ti3C2Tx is a promising material for next-generation energy storage for sodium-ion capacitors (SICs). However, the attraction between active functional groups and hydrogen bonds on the surface of Ti3C2Tx make the interlayer agglomerate obviously. Herein, we introduce 2D ZnCo bimetallic hydroxide (ZnCo-LDH) to adsorb on Ti3C2Tx nanosheets (Ti3C2Tx/ZnCo-LDH) and form the 3D interlaced porous frameworks, which could stabilize the complex structure and provide flexible ion diffusion channels. The ZnCo-LDH could not only increase the active sites for adsorbing the charges, but also prevent Ti3C2Tx from agglomerating and promote the electron transport kinetics. Benefited from this novel stable structure, Ti3C2Tx/ZnCo-LDH possess a wonderful specific capacitance (644.9 F g-1 at 2 mV s-1) and outstanding rate performance that combine with pseudocapacitance and low resistance. Particularly, the Ti3C2Tx/ZnCo-LDH electrode exhibit an excellent cyclic stability with 95.5% of the initial capacitance after 10000 cycles at 5 A g-1. More significantly, the SICs fabricated with 3D porous Ti3C2Tx/ZnCo-LDH display maximized energy density of 27.2 Wh kg- 1 and power density of 7987.5 W kg- 1, and an outstanding cycle stability of 95.8% after 10000 cycles. This work could provide an effective strategy for the preparation of MXene and LDH composites as electrode materials for sodium ion capacitors.

Abstract:Aqueous zinc-ion batteries (AZIBs) are a green, low-cost and high-safety energy storage technology. Although MoS2 is a promising electrode material, low conductivity and poor stability still limit their application in AZIBs. Constructing conductive heterostructures is an effective strategy to overcome these problems. Herein, metallic 1 T-MoS2 nanosheets are innovatively combined with conductive Ti3C2 MXene, resulting in enlarged 1 T-MoS2 interlayers (from 9.5 to 9.9 Å) and enhanced hydrophilicity. This novel 1 T-MoS2/Ti3C2 MXene heterostructure exhibits exceptional high-rate capability (284.3 mAh/g at 0.10 A/g with 105.2 mAh/g at 10.00 A/g) and long-term cycling stability (93.2 % capacity retention after 3000 cycles). High capacity comes from the expanded ion storage space caused by the extended layer spacing of the metallic 1 T-MoS2. Outstanding rate capability thanks to ultrafast electrons and ions transport from Ti3C2 MXene. Prominent long-term cycling stability is attributed to the efficient synergistic effect of 1 T-MoS2 and Ti3C2 MXene in the 3D interconnected networks. As a proof of concept, the wearable quasi-solid-state Zn-ion battery employing the 1 T-MoS2/Ti3C2 MXene cathode exhibits stable electrochemical performance under different bending conditions. This work explores a new route to design high-performance layered cathode materials for AZIBs.

Abstract:Silicon is an ideal anode candidate for next-generation lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) due to its high specific capacity, low working potential and abundant sources. However, its practical application is seriously hindered by its huge volume expansion, which leads to the destruction of the electrode structure and the short cycle life. Herein, we fabricated flexible self-supporting binder-free porous silicon/MXene-2:1 composite film (pSi/MXene-2:1 film) as anode for LIBs by vacuum filtration. The pSi possesses sheet-shape resulting from layered mont-morillonite, which is beneficial to shorten ion transport length. Furthermore, the pSi/MXene-2:1 film possesses excellent mechanical flexibility and the voids in the structure can well accommodate the volume expansion during cycling. Benefitting from these advantages, the pSi/MXene-2:1 film anode shows steady cycling performance with 1039.3 mAh/g at 500 mA g(-1) after 200 cycles and excellent rate performance with 840.3 mAh/g at 5 A/g. Furthermore, a high reversible capacity of 1201 mAh/g can be obtained at 1 A/g for pSi/MXene-2:1|| LiFePO(4 )full cell. This work provides a strategy to fabricate high-capacity and long-cycle self-supporting silicon-based anodes for flexible LIBs.

Abstract:There has been a focus on exploring transition metal carbides/nitrides (MXenes) as potential electrode materials for lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) due to their two-dimensional (2D) structure and excellent electrical conductivity. The self-aggregation and oxidation issues of MXenes hinder their further application in LIBs. Construction of three-dimensional (3D) structures can tackle these problems. Herein, a novel Ti 2 VC 2 T x MXene/carbon nanotubes (CNTs)/poly( p -phenylenediamine) (poly-PPD) composite (TCP) was fabricated by electrostatic self-assembly and subsequent oxidation-free polymerization. The preparation process was optimized by modifying the ratio of raw materials, feeding sequence, and types of CNTs. TCP electrode exhibits reversible discharge capacity of 166.5 mAh g −1 after 3000 cycles at 2 A g −1 along with a capacity retention ratio of 67.8 %. This work presents a valuable strategy for designing efficient anode materials for LIBs and will help to boost the development of bimetallic MXenes in the field of energy storage.
